"Chistopol has no issues with this proposal except for the fact it assumes that Topri will accept this approach to the situation. As of yet to my knowledge we have not contacted them at all and I am unsure that their King is even aware of this approach to ourselves. I would therefore suggest we only follow this approach once we get assurances from both monarchs that this outline is acceptable. I therefore suggest that we first send the following to the King of Topri.

Quote from: Proposed Letter

To: King ????

We have been asked by the monarch of Parbhani to seek a mediation between your two nations in an effort to bring the ongoing war to an end. At present the membership of the Sovereign Union of Nations have only seen one side of the conflict and therefore believe that if peace is to be given a chance we must seek to fully understand the conflict. We have therefore put together a proposal that both sides undertake a 7 day ceasefire while a small cohort of senior officers from our nations travel to each nation to investigate the situation and explore whether further talks are possible. We hope that this opportunity for peace is accepted and that we can bring an end to the conflict that is ongoing.

With Respect

S.U.N. Ambassadors

"I think the majority of the proposal is sound. I would though like to see something done to ensure none of us is expected or forced to share information of a sensitive nature with the world. As a result I would like to see Article 5 changed."

Current text:- "5. As far as is reasonably practical and secure member nations agree to share data from their space operations."

Proposed text:- "5. As far as is reasonably practical and secure member nations agree to share data from their space operations so long as doing so does not impact their own national security or future projects."

"Should that change be made we would fully support this approach and the creation of the new role."

63
"We have a limited amount of information about the current situation. I would suggest that we send people to Topri and Parbhani in order to get for ourselves what is going on. If it is as we're told then I believe we should attempt to broker an end to the fighting. Should that happen we would be happy to provide peacekeeping forces to help facilitate an initial ceasefire."

64
"I'm afraid that Chistopol will not support the formation of a joint SUN space agency. We're a nation currently investing heavily in improving our nation here on Mundus. It would not look right to our people if we start looking at space and beyond. We would though not rule out a mission by mission approach if we saw it as something that could benefit our people in the here and now. We however will also not stand in the way of other members if they wanted to create a organisation as a non-compulsory element of SUN."

Crown Prince Kārlis had no desire to mingle with the other Chistopolians following the ending of the talks. He found himself a quiet spot and sat down to survey the event unfolding before him. He was thankful though that King Đurađ and Queen Jožica had come over. He had been impressed by the Drenovian King in the meeting and was pleased to make his acquintance.

"Our nation is sadly going through some moves that are anti-monarchist. It is sad that there is a growing group that wish to totally remove the monarchies power yet we have already given up so much. My father very literally gave his blood to free the nation from Communsim. He willingly gave the people more power but that was never enough for them. Now our family are merely the rubber stampers of our nations laws. At worst all we can do is refuse to sign things and make the people have to do a referendum. Its a pale reflection on what our role was and I fear its making our nation soft as it takes too long for anything to happen. As for my fathers situation I am not entirely sure what you want to know?"

FIRST MINISTER PROPOSES MULTI-NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Crown Prince Kārlis and First Minister Darijus Laine today returned from a conference in Cassiopeia where the nation has provisionally signed up to a multi-national partnership. The treaty will see Chistopol join with the host nation, Drenovia and Paracambi to foster international co-operation while maintaining each nations full control over all matters of their own policies and laws. The Treaty however will now require the assent of the Chamber of the People which is expected to discuss the matter when it returns on January 2nd following a week long break for the New Year.

First Minister Laine who represents the Chistopol Unity Party (CUP) will personally present the treaty to the Chamber for debate and has already spoke warmly of the potential of the new arrangement. "It was very very clear to us that the other three nations are excited to be working together and recognise the potential for what this can do. The economic aspects of the treaty will allow our blossoming manufacturing sector and our flourishing agricultural industries to find markets keen to receive them meanwhile our businesses can now access investment from nations economically ahead of ourselves which is something that can only help our own economy. We have seen the threat of Communism in the past and the fear of having to stand again against a threat was constant. This arrangement does not guarantee these nations would come to our aid but it does mean nations must now take the gamble that instead of fighting one nation they would face four. We keep ourselves protected also from natural threats such as disease thanks to parts of this. The whole thing is win win for our nation as at the end of the day while we can tie into the mechanisms of the treaty we can also maintain our own laws and standards. I will be warmly promoting the treaty to the Chamber and I am confident that it will pass overwhelmingly."

There is however voices of opposition in the guise of Luule Koppel who is the leader of the Ultra-Nationalist Three Leopards Party. Miss Koppel criticised the treaty saying, "While I agree this is a great agreement to be part of economically we must not sell our souls for a handful of silver. This treaty opens up our borders to an influx of foreign influence and we must treat them as though they are Chistopolians. That should never be the case, on our soil our folk must be given priority in all matters. I am saddened to see the Crown Prince forced into signing a document that has great potential to betray our very way of life. What starts off as a treaty designed to give sovereignty to all will creep into a carbon copy of something like the CSU and that globalist regime must not be allowed to take even a toehold in our Kingdom." It is likely however that Miss Koppel's opposition is likely to have little impact as the Three Leopards hold only 18 seats in the Chamber out of a total of 274.

With the Chistopol Unity Party holding close to 55% of seats it is likely the treaty will be approved with little issue especially as the Liberal Party have long called for the nation to embrace large trade deals and are thus likely to add their 11% of seats to the CUP's.

NEW LIBRARY OPENS

Today in Tartu the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood have opened a major new library. The faith which is native to Kaitaine where it is persecuted by the Communists have funded the redevelopment of the old People's Drill Hall. It was opened today by Royal Matron Lady Viktorias alongside delegations from the Sisterhood. Lady Viktorias has served as Royal Matron since 2016 and has focused a lot of her work on supporting children to gain better access to education and health. Speaking at the opening Lady Viktorias stated "There is nothing more powerful than being able to read. Reading leads to oppurtunities and whether they are oppurtunities for pleasure or to advance your own future they are equally as important. Today we thank the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood for allowing people of all ages, but I hope mainly children, to access a vast amount of new knowledge and new stories. We shall welcome the Sisterhood's staff to our capital and I look forward to many visits here in the future."

As of yet the Kingdom of Chistopol is to recognise the region of Kaitaine currently held by the Sisterhood known as the Theocracy of Kaitaine however the King has had a meeting with the head of the Bene Gesserit faith. The Royal Press Office explained that this meeting was responsible for the new library being built. The government however have stated that the Theocracy having been accused of utilising child soldiers in the past is making formal recognition of the Theocracy "a barrier to legitimacy that could be overcome with honest and open dealing."

During the time it took for Queen Atalanta to set up the media scrum the duo of representatives from Chistopol got together inside. "The charter will require my father's signature so I should sign it on his behalf." The Crown Prince demanded in the tone much like that expected from a sulking child.

"Your father can sign whatever he likes however it will not become reality until the people have given their ascent via the democratically elected body."  First Minister Darijus Laine smirked. "I will however allow a compromise. I shall address the media and you shall sign the document with your name but must add on behalf of the people of Chistopol. Otherwise I will ensure the Council first vote to reject your signature before then having it authorise me to come and sign it."

The Crown Prince knew that the constitution gave the First Minister the upper hand in such a manner and the Crown Prince agreed by simply nodding his head.

Some time later the duo were at the table. The Crown Prince was happy to be sat among the monarchs of the other nations while Laine stood behind him. When their time came the Crown Prince smiled happily for the camera as he began to write what had been agreed while Laine addressed the media. "Unlike the others gathered here today this signature on behalf of our King will need to be supported by a vote within our democratic machinery. I am however confident that it shall pass and we look forward to working with our new friends. The fact that we are so different a group of nations is in my view a strength of what we are trying to achieve here and I am excited to present this document to the people of Chistopol as soon as possible." The Crown Prince had finished adding his signature and dutifully rotated the documents as required.

There was a brief discussion between First Minister Darijus Laine and Crown Prince Kārlis. "Mr.Laine" the Crown Prince spoke in low tones. "I know you wish to perhaps amend this for even the letter of application, however with respect you have diminished my father's position already here today and that amendment you would now consider makes no difference to Chistopol other than to reaffirm your Republican stance which thankfully the nation does not yet support." The Crown Prince noted that the First Minister seemed unconcerned about his words.

"With respect Your Highness I don't want a Republic, I just don't want the monarchy to have any actual power. Your father is a great figurehead of the nation but he serves the people not vice versa. As for in the future it remains to be seen if future monarchs can be so deserving of respect." The First Minister had no wish to air this once more here. "We shall support Emperor Benson's approach" the Minister indicated that perhaps the Crown Prince would like to take the lead on this and as minor an olive branch as it was the Crown Prince accepted it.

The Crown Prince stood before addressing the others. "Having conferred we believe that the approach adopted by Emperor Benson is one that we should all support. You can therefore expect Chistopol to take the same stance as Paracambi moving forward. With this in mind we should perhaps move to making this a reality if no one has another amendment."

First Minister Darijus Laine could see a look of irritation on the face of Crown Prince Kārlis. It seemed there was no support for the King being given a say in this and to the Crown Prince that was just one more show of disrespect for his father. The First Minister addressed the assembled group. "I thank you for accepting my amendment. I am confident that with such a thing in place I can easily ensure this passes through our various assemblies and councils to recieve the rubber stamping of His Majesty King Kārlis." The First Minister looked towards the Crown Prince to have him confirm the act.

"I think with the amendment in my father will afix his signature only to fulfil his obligation. While I do not wish to bog this meeting down with national politicing I think this is aimed as a slight against my father who is deserving of more. With that on the First Minister's record I can confirm my father will sign the agreements reached here into law." The Crown Prince made little secret by his tone of his annoyance with the whole matter.

There was a moment of awkward silence as the First Minister turned back to face the group with a sly smile on his face. "As for the other matters, we intend to join all parts of the charter and I think all should be compulsory. I can confirm that we would support financially a HQ in Cassiopeia but on condition that there is a cap to its budget each year. If that is agreeable we shall support it."

Crown Prince Kārlis felt slighted as First Minister Darijus Laine began to respond after minimal consultation between the two men.

"Queen Atalanta" he spoke as he stood unsure whether it was required to stand while speaking but feeling like it would make those on the opposite side of the forum more able to hear him. "I admire what you are seeking to do with this Charter and I fully support its aims. "Unlike the others in this meeting though I represent a nation where the power of the monarchy is not final. As such I would like to explore the proposal for the Head of States Council. For our nation His Majesty King Kārlis is our Head of State but beyond acting as a figure head and rubber stamping any passed legislation he is merely an adviser. It is the position of First Minister that would be representing us at any such Council meeting. I therefore propose we call it the National Leaders Council and the following change of Article A be made

Quote

Current text =  The Council shall consist of each members Head of State or their appointed representative.

Proposed text = The Council shall consist of each members constitutionally recognised decision maker on foreign affairs or their appointed representative.

"That would ensure that it is therefore our First Minister who determines who attends rather than the monarch."

The Crown Prince wet his lips before beginning. "Such an amendment would merely serve to embarrass the royal family." He said his eyes focusing on Queen Atalanta while ignoring the First Minister. "By the constitution of our land the King must pass any decision relating to who to send to such events on to Mr.Laine here anyway thus in effect bringing about what he proposes by a circumnavigationous route."

The First Minister had expected the Crown Prince to be awkward but not in public. "The idea Your Highness is to ensure we protect such problems for nations with perhaps a less clearly defined relationship between monarch and parliament so to speak from causing internal disputes, we're protecting the organisation Queen Atalanta would propose from future issues as membership potentially grows. As things stand I think I would have a tricky time getting the current idea of it being the monarch who controls who attends through the Chamber of the People therefore Your Celestial Majesty it would be useful to have the amendment."

The arrival of the Chistopolians would be somewhat more complex than that of the Paracambians. While Chistopol was a Kingdom and the royal family held a significant amount of influence they had no direct power and functioned mainly as just a figurehead within the nation. They were though responsible for helding kick the Commies out and that ensured the general public still wanted them around and therefore ensured they still had to be involved. It would though be First Minister Darijus Laine who would make the formal decisions but it would need to be done in such a way that the royal half of the delegation, Crown Prince Kārlis was not left out of the process.

With all this sensitive national politics taken into account it was the First Minister who was first to greet the Princess of Cassiopeia. "Your Highness we are thrilled to have this chance to meet with your cousin and see your nation." He bowed to the member of the Celestial Family and then turned to the Crown Prince who stood a few steps behind waiting patiently his hands behind his back. "Its my pleasure to introduce His Highness Crown Prince Kārlis who snapped his heels together and gave a stiff bow.

"Greetings Princess" he said rather coldly. "I am thrilled to make your acquaintance." His face did not seem like he was thrilled as his icey blue eyes barely showed any signs of interest in the Cassiopeian Princess. He seemed to relax a little as they made their way to the venue. Here was where he would the person who actually mattered in the guise of Queen Atalanta he doubted he would every meet this Princess again so didn't need to worry too much. The Crown Prince had expected some kind of Palace and found the lack of formality unnerving but he was happy his status as a Royal was respected as sometimes he felt slighted back home as his family began to lose influence. He proudly donned his gold wreath and presented Atalanta with a set of gold cast necklace charms in the shape of Panthers, his own national animal. He kept his eyes lowered as he spoke to her "Queen Atalanta we are pleased to be able to meet with you." He turned to face Emperor Benson, "And of course His Imperial Majesty. May today mark a new beginning for each of us."

To:- Her Majesty Queen Atalanta II

Chistopol found itself under occupation by Communists for many years and has no desire to allow our people to be controlled by other nations again. We do however value friendship and co-operation with as many nations as possible. We are therefore delighted to accept your request. While I am the King of the nation I act only as a figure head for my people and no law or agreement may pass without the approval of the people of my lands. As such I hope you will accept the presence of my son and heir Crown Prince Kārlis along with First Minister Darijus Laine as representatives of our nation.

Best Regards

King Kārlis IV of Chistopol

DRILL HALL TO BE REBORN

Following a meeting between the leader of the Bene Gesserit faith and the government of Chistopol it is announced that a plan to renovate the old People's Drill Hall has been agreed. Under the terms of the agreement the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood will convert the Drill Hall into a public library and some teaching rooms. The agreement will see part of the initial funding provided by the Chistopol government however much of the work will be funded by the Bene Gesserit. The new library will be one of many projects in the coming months as the government seek to regenerate the capital of Tartu. The capital was largely left in disarray following the end of occupation by the Communists in the 1960's. Since the removal of the Communists the nation has largely spent its time ensuring the return of the strong agriculture and textile industry that had once been the pride of the nation. Many have argued that investment into the capital city has been largely lacking and many have argued that this is holding the nation back as it is stopping the city developing into a proper hub for business.

First Minister Darijus Laine has today confirmed that a project in the district which contains the old Workers Drill Hall, which was used to supervise and conduct forced labour of political prisoners, will commence and see a new financial district develop. "It is the hope of myself and the government that we can establish a centre for East Aranye to have a financial hub. We want to attract banks, insurance companies, investment houses and various other service sector players. It is my hope that this can kickstart a whole new life for Tartu and in turn help further increase the economic rebirth of the nation." The capital city has a GDP per capita of around $12,000 while those of other areas of Chistopol are around $5,000- $8,000 more a year.

Dear Queen Atalanta II

My own nation has experienced a period of instability by those who would wish evil upon us. We ourselves loss many embassies across Mundus and would welcome a chance to reopen one. We therefore will send Anne Tamm to represent our nation. I look forward to her sending her first reports.

Best Regards

King Kārlis IV

First Minister Darijus Laine was pleased that at least this seemed that the people of the capital were going to be given a valuable resource for their cultural enrichment. It also presented a chance to wipe some of the hideous remnants of the Communist occupation. "I would be happy then to see this library established. We have at present a list of buildings in and around the capital that are frankly in need of either a bulldozer, a bomb or some fantastic TLC. Off the top of my head the old Workers Drill Hall would be towards the top of that list, its close to the city centre and has plenty of space. If memory serves me correctly the building is currently home to lots of dusty boxes full of unimportant things such as the trappings of the old regime. They can be destroyed for all I care. If you're willing to spruce the place up then I can see no reason why it wouldn't be suitable for you." The First Minister thought for a second or two. "We however would need you to ensure that it is presented in such a way that is draws a very clear image that this is the Sisterhood and not the Theocracy who are running it. As I have said we wish to foster strong relationships with many nations and at present I am not confident enough that we could be seen in any way as suspporting that entity. In time we shall see." The First Minister finished.

"Is there any other matters we may discuss with you."  King Kārlis asked.

77
Chistopol's capital of Tartu was pretty neglected over the years, many of the nations buildings were hastily thrown up concrete nightmares of a variety of colours which was a token gesture at trying to soften the cities aesthetics. "The idea of a new library would fit in well with our plans to regenerate Tartu." The First Minister explained. "The city as you saw is largely a bit of an eye sore. Once the Communists left they destroyed large swathes of the city and in an attempt to quickly rehouse people the city didn't prioritise archetectual design as a significant factor, nor did they give too much concern to leisure facilities except for some green space. The addition of a new library would be nice. Should you build it would the locals be able to access it?" He asked.

Minister of Finance - Raisa Ozolinsky
Representative for Hõreda

Born in 1956 Raisa is the youngest daughter of a former river fisherman called Kurt Ozolinsky. The family moved from their riverside village when Raisa was just 4 years old because of fighting during the War of Independence. Her father used his various small river fishing boats to help move supplies for the Royalist forces while his wife and two daughters remained hidden in the forests of Northern Chistopol. In 1965 sadly her father was captured by Communist forces and spent the rest of the war (7 months) in a prison camp where he almost died of cholera as well as being severally beaten. In a weakened state upon his release he was never truly able to return to the family riverside business and so Raisa's mother became the primary bread winner of the family. Raisa and her sister both tried to help out and in 1969 the family converted one of their storehouses into a riverside cafe which Raisa would work in after getting home from school.

During her days at schools Raisa was a rather average students but all her teachers commented upon an excellent work ethic where she wouldn't leave classrooms at break or home time until she had grasped the problems she faced in class. In 1974 she graduated high school and was given an apprenticeship in an accountancy firm. She utilised the new skills to help the financial aspects of her family fishing and cafe business and soon through clever use of taxes, investments and some good luck the family were able to buy another location just up the road from their home where they set up a smokehouse for fish and a restaurant. These businesses were run day to day by Raisa's elder sister Joanna.

In 1983 Raisia married a local haulage business owner called Vitali, the two have a son called Ilian (b.1985) and Svetlana (b.1988). In 1990 Svetlana became rather ill and the town where the family lived had poor hospital facilities, this outraged Raisa who began campaigning for better health care for rural communities. In 1992 she stood as an independent for election into the Chamber of the People on a platform of rural renewal. She won her seat by a landslide however as one of only two independents in the Chamber she couldn't effect much change. In the run up to the 1997 election she was approached by the National Unity Party and impressed by their manifesto she joined them. Her rural home had seen her dedication to taking their problems to the highest office in the land and so readily voted for her still.

In 1997 she was named to her first Ministerial position as the Minister for Farming, Fisheries and the Countryside. Under her term in office she worked hard to try and put in place schemes to support modernisation and reclamation of land damaged by the Soviet's scorched earth policies. In 2002 she was once more re-elected and made Minister for Trade and Commerce however when a junior minister in her office was caught using funds fraudulently she had little choice but to resign and go to the back benches. Her time there however was short lived as the First Minister at the time in 2003 asked her to head a team exploring ideas for urban regeneration. Her work was rather impressive and when the First Minister resigned because of ill health in 2004 she stood for leadership of the Party missing out on the position by just 3 votes. Sadly her rival still perceived her as a threat and so she was once more cast onto the back benches.

In 2007 she was once more re-elected and was named as Minister of Finance a position she held through the whole of that term of office. In 2012 she did not stand for re-election as her husband had been given the chance to open a business in Lodja. The family relocated there for a while however with the business up and running they made the decision in 2016 to return to Chistopol for the elections and Raisa was welcomed back to the party being permitted to run for her old seat. Once elected she was appointed to be Deputy First Minister under Darijus Laine however in 2019 the Minister of Finance resigned for ill health and Raisa requested to swap jobs always feeling more comfortable with book-keeping and economics than wider political matters. She also cited the fact she thought the Deputy First Minister should be someone being groomed to take the position one day and now at 63 years of age her chance of becoming First Minister was slim. Laine agreed and she moved into the position she holds today.

She is a believer in the government trying to keep taxes as low as possible while using what funding they do have to "prime the pumps" of the local economies. As such she looks at helping businesses access low coast micro-loans often funded by local collectives rather than major financial institutions.

Away from politics she still enjoys spending time on the river and is among her party colleagues well respected for her fish dishes at dinner parties.

What First Minister Darijus Laine wanted to say was "preposterous" what he actually said in response to the explanation of the Bene Gesserit faith was simply "interesting." He didn't buy into a lot of what they had said but it seemed harmless as far as religions go. "In terms of you asking about the marriages and what sounds like arranged ones then that's none of our business. Our laws state that marriage is between one man and one woman and can take place from the age of 18. Now if at 18 years and 1 day of age a girl agrees to marry someone she has never meet because of her religious belief then good luck to her. You won't find us standing in your way if you wanted to set up some kind of Bene Gesserit dating agency." He said rather more sarcastically then he had intended.

King Kārlis IV knew he had very little sway in the outcome of the meeting but he was here and so was not going to keep himself silent. "I think though there must be more than marriages that can be accomodated. Our capital Tartu is home to three different native faith's shrines and Temples. About 10million people in the Kingdom are followers of different faiths, Christian, Jews, Muslim, Manist, you name it we have it I suspect. While it may not be common you do see spires, minerets and domes dotted through our capital. We have though no places for the Bene Gesserit, why is that?" The King asked.

Darijus was a little annoyed he had nothing against the Bene Gesserit but they were a very small faith group compared to some of the others dotted around Mundus and he didn't want to be seen favouring a group he was yet to make his mind up about if it stopped him for example not being able to do business with groups like TUNA, MICA or CNN. "We have heard of the issues with nations like East Moreland and Rokkenjima, before I support any building in the capital or anywhere else for that matter tell me some more about nuclear waste and claims of Truthtalkers....Truthsayers......stealing it?"

83

If Tartu was the gem of the Kingdom is was one that had been chipped and lost its shine long ago. What had once been a thriving city through the 19th and early 20th Centuries had been the scene of vicious fighting in the 1960's and even after had struggled to regain its lustre. The city was made up of row upon row of concrete housing blocks, the ground floors of which were turned over to commerce while the residents of the city lived above them. Thankfully the one positive of the rebuilding of the city was the fact that there had been plenty of oppurtunities to put green spaces in so that those consigned to living in the small flats that most Tartuites called home had places to stroll and relax on the frequent sunny days.

Today one such of these green spaces was off limits to the general public as it was effectively surrounded by a ring of steel with large temporary metallic panels put around the Royal Park. The perimeter of the park was being patrolled by khaki clad soldiers who appeared pretty casual about the days proceedings. At Tartu International Airport there would be a small welcoming party but the aim was to keep the arrival of the Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother rather low key. In the view of the First Minister, Darijus Laine it was important to find out about this "Sisterhood" as it appeared the Kingdom may have a significant number of them and added to that they had the place the Bene Gesserit considered the Holy Land on the doorstep the downside however was several influential nations called them terrorists and until The First Minister could work out which nations they saw as the most significant to befriend they didn't want to upset them. A convoy of black armoured cars made their way up to the entrance to the park and it was here the First Minister and King Kārlis IV would meet their guest.

"Reverend Mother, welcome to the Kingdom of Chistopol" The First Minister was the first to greet her extending a hand in welcome. It had been determined that he should be the first to welcome the guest as it would show that while on paper Chistopol was a Kingdom it was the people who had the real influence. Darijus though was a man who respected the King and believed that he was the personification of what was good about the nation. "It's my pleasure to introduce His Majesty King Kārlis."

"Dear Lady" the King stepped forward his left hand gripping the top of a black wooden cane topped with a silver decretive panther's head. The King figured that for this short meet and greet followed by the walk into the park itself he didn't really need the cane but he had good days where he could walk for hours but then other days his legs would suddenly feel like heavy weights and occasionally had failed him. He did not want that to be his first impression. "Its good to meet you. I hope you've had a safe journey. Where have you come from as I heard you'd been busy on business around Mundus." The two Chistopolians and the Bene Gesserit delegation entered through the metal protective screen. The park featured a network of white gravel paths that were flanked by avenues of trees under which every ten meters or so nicely carved benches sat with most having brass plaques pinned to them dedicated to some family that had died during the fighting for independence. As they reached a small lake that swans elegantly glided on a small bridge jutted out into the lake to a small island on which sat a kind of cross between a bandstand and a gazebo. At the centre of this was a table set up with various seats surrounding it. "Please take a seat" the King said as he carefully lowered himself into his own seat. "I am eager to learn about this faith of yours. I am also eager to see if we can in someway show support to the faith." The King began before the First Minister interrupted him.

"We however will support the faithful, maybe not the Sisterhood." Darijus explained, "My concern is this Chistopol is a nation that probably recognises your problems more than most, but I was elected to complete the rebuilding of Chistopol and not lead us into another war. My concern is also that we may be at a point where we are forced to choose a friendship with the Sisterhood and your Theocracy or friendships with nations across Mundus. While my heart wishes to support the Theocracy at this point my head is telling me that would be a mistake for my people. I hope this is understandable and I apologise if it isn't what you wanted to hear. I am though keen to hear what your faith is about and how you think we can support the near million or so members of it here in the Kingdom."

POLITICAL PARTIES OF CHISTOPOL

THE CHISTOPOL UNITY PARTY

Like many political parties in the nation they existed before the occupation by the Communists however as the Chistopol National Party. When the Communists took over the nation a large number of the party were rounded up and executed within the first few days while the remainder went into hiding and began establishing militia units.

Following the end of the War of Independence the parties first order of business was to change its name as the Communist occupation had used the title Chistopol National People's Party and the members did not want to sound too familiar. The party has stood for attempts to promote what it describes as "The shared values of the folk faith" meaning that they believe they are tied very closely to the values promoted by the three native faiths however they are often accused of leaning to far on connections to the Dievasian Order. They believe that while the nation should remain a monarchy however the power of the monarch should be reduced to a simple final check and balance with its main duty being ceremonial. The Party also believe in the idea of reducing the impact of government on daily life leaving most decisions up to the individual and keeping taxation as low as possible in order to maintain "the advancement of Chistopol". In terms of foreign affairs they believe in the ideas of free trade but not free movement of people. They also believe that a values based foreign policy is important and largely see the idea of monarchies as being an important potential partner, largely because this is as far from anti-communist as you could imagine.

The party is currently the largest in the Chamber of the People and is headed by Darijus Laine who is First Minister.

THE LIBERAL PARTY

Founded in 1902 the party focused on removing the power of the monarch and giving people a wider variety of rights. In 1902 for example the party began pushing for voting ages to be dropped from 30 to 18 and largely lead the successful campaign. When the Communists took over they largely disappeared as most had rural seats. The parties leader at this time was Meelis Mägi who formed an assassination unit in the militia responsible for successfully taking out 22 members of the Chistopol National People's Party. Sadly Mägi was killed in a firefight just four days before the liberation of the capital.

When the party reformed they based their values on removing what they see as "Bias Laws promoting discrimination" for example they wish to see polygamy legalised, abortion made easier to access and the legalisation of all drugs. They believe the monarchy should now exist only as a ceremonial part of the nation as it served as a symbol for freedom against the Communists. The party also believe that there should be a formal seperation between all religion and government. They also wish to remove the Chamber of the Nobles and replace it with a randomly selected People's Congress.

The party is currently lead by Jaagup Pärn

THE DIEVASIAN PARTY

A party dedicated entirely to the promotion and protection of Dievasian faith. The party only came into existence after the War of Independence however it is widely known that a lot of its founders had contributed massively to the war effort as part of the Dievasian Order. The Dievasian Party sets as a qualifier for being a candidate in elections that the individual has graduated from an institute of learning run by the Dievasian Order. The Party doctrine is as you would expect guided by the nations largest faith and it seeks to not just promote these values but protect institutes such as Dievasian from government control. With only 34 % of the nation following their faith the party know it is unlikely to ever see power however it does have a reasonable hardcore following which means it can often gain influence within the government.

The current leader of the Party is Margareeta Koppel

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

During the War of Independence many of the members of this faction fought against the Communists however hoped to secure a future with no monarchy. Despite having seen the power of the monarchy reduced to being almost non existant the Party still believe that the monarchy have too many privledges and too much control and should be removed all together. They campaign regularly for the use of royal land or its redistribution to the general public. Additionally they believe royal assets should be seized and invested on behalf of the people of the nation. They criticise the idea of the nation forming relationships with other monarchies unless they follow a similar system to Chistopol.

The Parties current leader is Liisu Kukk

THE GREEN PARTY

A party that was only founded in the 1970s and was born out of concern of the "destruction of Chistopol's natural environment as collateral damage for repairing the harm done by Communism". The party place an emphasis on sustainable development of the nations countryside and protectionist policies for areas such as agriculture and fishing. The Party also would like to see ethical concerns about such factors as energy use and recycling used as a key criteria for the distribution of government projects. The party also place an emphasis on "social justice" wanting each person to be able to have equal access to health, education and legal representation along with various other key factors. The Party also promote the idea of a Universal Income for all and work hard to promote workers rights.

The Party are currently lead by Tõnis Rebane

THE THREE LEOPARDS

The party were founded in the final days of the War of Independence by a group of militia officers who wanted to see the Communists punished. They formed "Revenge Units" and carried out reprisals on those suspected of having collaborated. The group however soon found themselves under pressure and several of their leaders were imprisoned. In 1971 their leader Heino Koppel entered an election for his local area and won and this saw the group see that politics was yet another way of pursuing their agenda. The party want the removal of any non native religious building in the nation as well as the removal of citizenship from anyone whose family had connections to Communism. The party promote giving the monarch more power, introduction of the death sentence for more crimes, limitations put on migration and a campaign against communists internationally be carried out. They view the Green Party as "Communists in nice hats" and want them banning.

The current leader of the party is Luule Koppel the grand-daughter of the parties first political representative Heino Koppel.

First Minister Darijus Laine
Representative for Mägise
Leader of the Chistopol Unity Party

Born in 1971 Darijus is the current First Minister of Chistopol meaning that he is responsible for setting the day to day agenda of the national government.

He is the second child of Konrad Laine and Eleanor Laine a pair of dairy farmers from the small town of Mägise in central Chistopol. His father had been a veteran of the War for Independence and was a long time suffer of PTSD which was triggered by loud noises and as such he would rather spend time out in the fields than around the town or even his own house. Darijus would often get sent out by his mother to check on his father and as such developed a love for hiking and being around nature. In 1979 he joined the Young Pioneers youth club and his mother jokes that from that point on she never saw him as almost all his spare time was spent on projects for the group.

In 1982 he won a scholarship to the Tartu Grammar School having performed exceptionally well in his 11+ exam. He became the first student from Mägise to be accepted into the prestigious school. Despite the honour and the quality of education he was being given he missed the outdoors of Mägise and became homesick really quickly. He was encouraged to remain at the school though by his House Master Rasmus Ilves who was a well respected member of the militias during the War for Independence and had become a leading lawyer. He inspired Darijus to take an interest in politics, debating and law by combining these things with his interest in nature. During his remaining time at Tartu Grammar School he was responsible for running a student team that worked to campaign for better care of the countryside and he puts this as a key moment in his development as a politician.

He was accepted into Tartu University to study Law in 1989 following a glowing reference from his mentor Rasmus Ilves. While at the University he became even more interested in politics however did not select a political party at this point rather electing to attend meetings of several different parties. He also became part of the National Restoration Congress (NRC) which was an organisation that investigated collaboration during the War of Independence and helped prepare court of anyone deemed to have supported the Communists. When he left University in 1993 he continued working for the NRC where he became responsible for handling some of the more straight forward cases as he built up his experience as a lawyer.

In 1999 he finally made his decision about which political part to support and joined the centre-right leaning Chistopol Unity Party (CUP) which places an emphasis on maintaining a minimum amount of power in the monarchy, few restrictions on daily life and a protection of traditional religious values. Initially he stood for election in 2001 after the representative for his hometown of Mägise resigned because of ill health. The rural town was a strong hold for the CUP and naturally Darijus won easily. He was given a role as a Junior Minister in the Department for Justice and worked hard to find his feet. Over the next decade he was extremely active in pushing the party forward towards an agenda of supporting rural communities to develop after the huge damage done in the 1960's by the Communists and in 2005 became Minister for Agriculture and the Fishing. He was instrumental in bringing in laws to protect the coasts of the nation and established several environmental protection areas. In 2010 the Parties leader retired and the Deputy Leader Jaak Mägi assumed control. He appointed Darijus as his deputy.

The period between 2011-2016 however were difficult times for the party as it became clear that while Jaak Mägi was a charismatic leader he lacked the ability to take the nation beyond the advances that they had already made. This was shown in the 2016 election where the CUP's majority was cut from a comfortable 33 seats down to just 2. The party rebelled against Mägi and in the subsequent leadership race Darijus came out ahead becoming both the leader of the CUP and the nations First Minister. He immediately set about a rapid series of reforms designed at trying to modernise the industry of Chistopol while opening the nation up to the world. He pushed through a host of educational reforms and built connections between the CUP and all three of the nations native faiths ensuring that a representative of each sat in the upper chamber of the nations legislature. In Feb of 2020 elections were held and Darijus won his seat in Mägise by taking 71% of the local vote, a record for Chistopol. The CUP regained many lost seats and earned themselves a 24 seat majority.

Away from his career in politics Darijus still finds time to promote his love of the countryside. He is a registered Young Pioneer leader and tries to be as hands on with helping the youth organisation as he can. He also is seen regularly back in Mägise visiting his elderly mother and father who still live in the old farmhouse while his elder sister Yulia and her husband run the family farm which was expanded by purchasing the neighbours farm in 1997 when the whole family including Darijus clubbed together.

In 1996 Darijus married Loviise who was a Priestess of Dievas who also helped at a Youth Pioneer group her temple ran. In 1998 they had their first daughter called Piret who is currently studying a Masters degree in Agricultural Sciences. In 2000 their son was born, Ilmar, who is a Air Traffic Controller in the nations Air Force. Their second daughter, Anu, was born in 2004 and is following in her father's footsteps by studying at Tartu Grammar School.

Nation Name:- Kingdom of Chistopol
Type of government:- Parliamentary Monarchy
GDP per capita:- $14,893
Population:-  142,746,843
National Service: Y each year a lottery is undertaken and those selected must complete 2 years of military service.

What if any military threats does your nation face? Was once occupied by the Communists until the late 1960's nation fears that may happen again.

What is your nations landscape like? South West of the nation is a desert, the rest is like southern spain.

How technologically advanced is your nation? I'm thinking 1970's and 80's tech but feel free to throw whatever the Communists may have left behind in if that's feasable.

Historically how has your military been used? Nation only had a military since the 1970's after the King formed various militia units into a formal military. Since then its been used to ensure the nation is safe from a return by Kaitaine or Rodinha

What is your nations current foreign policy stance? PROTECT THE BORDER. That's the driving force behind most things the nation will do.

Lady Viktoras
Royal Matron

Born in 1995 to Prince Oļegs and his wife Svetlana she has inherited a rather strange position within the Kingdom. Chistopol tradition dictates that the Royal Matron is a position given to the most senior royal female, either through marriage to the King or by being a blood descendent. Out of the 11 descendants of King Kārlis she is the only female. Her role is to be the hostess of state functions alongside her grand-father.

As the first girl born to the royal family post independence she has in some ways been a little spoilt especially by her grandfather, much to the annoyance of her father Prince Oļegs. Partly as a worry about her being spoilt as she reached her teenage years she followed in her fathers footsteps and was sent to Lodja to be educated. She attended the same school as Queen Klara's older brother Genadi and while the two are not close friends they got along well. Since Klara ascended the throne in Lodja there were rumours that her grand-father would seek to marry her off to the Lodjain Prince however this was shot down even before it could be acted on by her father. Prince Oļegs was determined that his daughter marry a Chistopolian.

Having returned to live in Chistopol in 2013 she enrolled at University to study Business Management and graduated in 2016. She had intended to put her degree to use by starting her own business in the hospitality industry however her grand-father persuaded her to accept the vacant role of Royal Patron. She accepted and has since been using her position to try and promote the aims of her father through charitable work. Her biggest goal at the moment is to end child malnutrition which has been identified as an issue particularly towards the southern parts of the nation.

His Majesty Prince Motiejus
Lt-Col (retired)
Spearman of the Dievasian Order

Born in 1973 he is the youngest of King Kārlis three sons, his 2nd with Queen Anneli. Like his elder brother Oļegs he was able to build a strong relationship with his father. He also shares an extremely strong bond with his elder brother who is three years older than him. The Prince as a child was obsessed with animals and would often be found on the royal estate trying to help the tennant farmers who worked the land. He had an exceptional fondness for playing with the sheep dogs that the farmers used for herding their animals and even learned how to call them with the traditional calls and whistles. As a child he constantly begged his father for a pet dog of his own however with hsi father Kārlis determined that Motiejus would follow his elder brother and be educated abroad he was unwilling to grant him his wish.

In 1984 Prince Motiejus was sent to Kodumaa to be educated at a boarding school. While there he got in trouble for smuggling a puppy into the school and trying to keep it in his room. He also became interested in the military while in  Kodumaa having seen their large military and become interested in History where he learned about the disasterous occupation of his own nation. He was determined therefore to become an officer in the Chistopol military and upon his return one summer completed several state visits to military bases in order to determine which branch of service he wanted to join.

Upon leaving school in 1991 he tried out for the nations Royal Parachute Regiment and was accepted as an officer. He served in the military with great distinction helping pioneer many new methods utilising contacts he had made in Kodumaa to learn more about how to incorporate more cutting edge technology. His direct line to the King and with his elder brother so entrenched in the Ministry of Defence he was able to exert a great deal of influence of the reforms to the military and the procurement programmes. This did bring problems as in 2005 a newspaper report claimed the Prince was exercising royal influence to get his own way. This was something he denied and his commanding officer publically supported him. In 2014 he was named as the chief assessing officer for the nations Paratrooper school a position he held until retiring from the military in 2019.

In 2019 an opening came up in the ceremonial religious guard unit known as the Spearmen of the Dievasian Order a body that provide ceremonial guards for rituals and processions. The body has just 60 members and individuals are members for life with their replacement being selected by a vote of the remaining members. The Prince became the first royal in 209 years to be admitted into the group.

In 1991 upon leaving school he finally got the dog he had always wanted, a Chistpol Sheep Dog named Rex who became an unofficial Platoon mascot for the regiment. When Rex died in 2003 he was given a military burial by the Prince's Battalion. The Prince has had several other dogs since 1991 and currently is the owner of a 3 year old Chistpol Sheep Dog called Max and a Scent Hound called Holly. The Prince is the patron of the National Animal Protection League and is currently trying to pioneer a program of turning abandoned dogs in shelters into service dogs.

In 1996 he married Ruslana Butkus who is the daughter of a Duke of a coastal town. The pair had meet at a royal banquet held to mark the nations independence. They have two sons, Augustinas (born 1998) and Titas (born 2001)

His Majesty Prince Oļegs
Squadron Leader (retired)

Oļegs was born in 1970 and is King Kārlis 2nd son, but his first with his 2nd wife Queen Anneli. His father was now free of the pressing concerns of a Communist occupation and so was much more devoted to his family. Oļegs was therefore able to enjoy a much more conventional childhood than his half brother Crown Prince Kārlis. His father though was concerned about ensuring the leadership of the Kingdom would be able to prepared to undertake the future running of the nation and was therefore sent to Lodja for his education from the age of 11-18. He returned to Chistopol regularly during school holidays and enjoyed spending time hunting and riding with his father and younger brother Motiejus.

While in Lodja Prince Oļegs spent a fair amount of time on the Isle of the Goddess among the court of Queen Sonya. He was also there able to indulge in his love of music and learned to play a variety of instruments including his favourite the clarinet. As he reached the age of 16 he attended many of the balls famed to take place in Lodja and earned himself a reputation as a bit of a ladies man among the Lodjain ladies, partly because of his percieved dashing good looks but also the fact he was a Prince also helped. There were occasions where Queen Sonya attempted to persuade him to marry some of her grand-daughters however his father was determined that he would marry a well connected Chistopolian.

Once he returned to Chistopol he enrolled in the Air Force as an officer and learned to fly helicopters. He served in the Air Force from 1987 until retiring from military service in 2015. During his time in the military he first served as a transport helicopter pilot before becoming the pilot for a combat medic unit. In 2008 he became the lead instructor for the nations helicopter training programme and held this position until his retirement. His father was determined that his position as a Prince not be a factor in his career and so actually held back his son on one occasion from gaining promotion only to be told by the Air Chief Marshall that his son deserved the promotion as he had finished top of his class in terms of formal assessments. His father relented and never again tried to interfere in the career of his son.

After the end of his military career and seeing his father's determination that education be seen as important he enrolled himself at University and has been pursuing a degree in International Politics and is due to graduate in 2021 with a Masters degree. He has already stated his intention upon graduation to ask his father to make him an ambassador with a stated preference for returning to Lodja where he still has many connections.

In 1993 he married Svetlana Kazlauskas who is the daughter of a minor noble from Chistopol but had been part of the Royal Guardsman during the fight against the Communists. While Oļegs has followed his father as a practioner of the Dievas faith his wife follows the Dodola branch of the faith which caused some concern in the early days. The couple have three children (Princess Viktoria, Prince Miķelis and Prince Artūras) but have publically stated that they shall be raised in the Dievas tradition.
