PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE ON JOINING THE CMA
By Anja Tuomainen, congressional correspondent

Pääministeri Anita Peltosaari speaking in the Edustajien Kongressi

Today's session of the Congress of Representatives was dominated by the topic of joining the Cross Mundus Agency. This intention of the National Convention was presented by Prime Minister Peltosaari herself.
"Joining the CMA is an opportunity. An opportunity for Nordmar to get involved in Mundus-wide cooperation and eschange of thoughts and ideas."
During the debate almost all parties spoke in favor of this resolution. Monarchists' partner in coalition, Nordmaralainen Kansallispuolue, supported the project. It's chairman, Matti Lehtola said:
"Joining the CMA will strengthen Nordmar's position in the international politics. It's an opportunity that we can't miss." Remaining parties were speaking in similar manner. Liberals and Socialists were focused on opening to the outside world and cultural exchange. Christian Democrats also supported the initiative of the government, hoping for closer relations with the papacy. The only party to publibly criticize this idea was the agrarian Maaseutu Nordmareen, which chair, Noomi Isometsa, said:
"Joining the CMA will ruin ages of Nordmarian culture. Opening to the rotten civilizations in the Mundus will destroy our national identity and make our tradition fall into the abyss of history."
After the debate, the proposition of the National Convention was voted on by the  Parliament. 277 delegates voted "Niin" (Yes), 16 delegates voted "Ei" (No) and 12 delegates abstained. In conclussion the Congress gave the National Convention permission to start the procedures of joining the CMA.
