Project Psiloi - SUN
« on: February 25, 2023, 09:09:31 PM »

To our friends in S.U.N.

In the coming years we shall replace our Brontes tank. The Brontes has been designed as a rather unconventional tank with an emphasis on low observability and crew protection. We are hoping that a future design, currently being called Project Psiloi will replace it. This tank is designed to fulfil a light to medium tank role. We would invite our friends in the S.U.N. to join us in this project in a similar manner as we did with the Zarptica fighter. If acceptable we shall impose the same arrangement as that project where each nation shall identify providers for certain aspects of the tank and then each of us shall hold 25% of the rights to any sales of the tank.

We are hopeful you will join us in this project.

Best Regards
Queen Atalanta of Cassiopeia.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

After failing to secure a partnership with our friends in the S.U.N. the Ministry of Defence have selected Aspis as the company to manufacture the next generation of medium tank for the Cassiopeian armed forces

Project Psiloi will eventually produce a medium tank with the following characteristics

Its weight will be just under 38tonnes, this is to allow it to cope with some of the poorer quality woodland paths in the highlands of Cassiopeia.
It will maintain a four man crew bringing it in line with the Arges main battle tank.
The tank will be armed with 120mm rifled main gun capable of firing various types of round.
In addition initial plans are for the tank to be equipped with a remote weapons system allowing the commander to operate it with minimal need to leave the safety of the crew compartment. The intention is that this will also contain an IR Jammer.
The tank will have a hard kill defence system, and composite armours.
The aim is that the tank will have a top speed of around 50mph and a range of 600km.

The initail design means the Psiloi tank will appear something like the images below.

SUCCESSFUL PSILOI GUN TESTS

The nations eagerly awaited Psiloi tank has today moved a step closer as the gun system has been approved by the consortium responsible for the production. The Mk.2 Verdant Gun has today fired its 5,000th shot and been declared ready for mass production. The 120mm weapon will be the tanks primary weapon with a remote operated weapons system as a secondary. While testing of the gun has been undertaken various tests of armour composites has also been taking place. It is expected the first prototype will be handed over to the army in early 2024.

First Psiloi Tank due to be delivered end of the month

The nations newest military procurement will see its first of 100 deliveries arrive at the end of August. The Psiloi tank will enter service once crews have been brought up to speed. The tank fills the need for a medium tank that can operate in the rugged countryside of the nations highlands.

The tank weights 38tonnes, has a 120mm main gun capable of firing rounds allowing it to carry out various roles. Mounted on the top of the tank is a remote operated weapon system that can be equipped with either a .50cal machine gun or a missile launcher. Integrated into this system is an IR jammer. The tank has composite reactive armour to aid in survivability. The engine will allow the tank to hit 50mph and it will carry enough fuel to travel 600km.

The tank will have a crew of four (driver, commander, loader and gunner) and cost in the region of $4million.
