Hi

I'm Amy, 22 from the north of the UK. Been writing in a few regions for about five years but never really felt like people kept around for a while. Figure if you guys been here ten years there is hope!.

My nations been in various forms around NS and other places for a while. Its been sci-fi, medieval, even once full of elves. The concept however stays largely the same. We're norse inspired but please don't think its a copy of Scandanavia.

In the 1920's as the world economy (assuming yours did) collapsed a small Empire began to crumble. Its military leaders deposed the Emperor and put a kind of military junta in place that still holds power today. The nation replaced the Emperor with a distant cousin of his known as "Lady Sovereign" a title that is in truth merely a Queen. She is responsible for ceremonial and religious duties and is seen as a kind of celebrity figure within the nation and the current one is highly popular. Meanwhile the day to day matters of government are run by a Council of 14 members of the military who elect a Commander-in-Chief every four years. An individual may serve two consecutive terms.

The nation is very heavily gender role bias, extends military law over the whole nation and promotes a kind of religious nationalism focused around connections to the hills (many of which are like Iceland's volcanos) and the Fjords.

Welcome to the Independent Order! If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I or someone else will try and get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, while I don't believe that, as a region, we have a global economic collapse/great depression equivalent, given that we were either in the immediate aftermath of the First Great War or in the midst of the Great War (depending on how you look at it), global trade getting disrupted and prompting such an event is well within the bounds of possibility.
