NATION CELEBRATES FIRST EVER MUNDUS GAMES MEDAL

Münir Demirci has today written his name into the history books. The 25 year old weightlifter in the 69kg category has become the first person from the nation to win a medal at the Mundus Games, not only does he become the first to win any medal he captured the gold by outlifting his nearest rival by 13kg. Celebrating with his coaches he soon saw fellow lifter Fatih Yıldız take Bronze in the 77kg weightclass before two other medals came in. Aslan Kartal took Silver in the 94kg and Galip Kaya brought home a Bronze in the heaviest weight category. Yağız Solak is the Lead Coach of the Weightlifting team and spoke of his pride at the teams success. "Our nation has perhaps an obsession with sports that allow competition for men to show their strength and martial skills. For the people of the hill tribes these sports play a huge part in their culture. We had set ourselves a target of doing well in this event and we've achieved much more than what we had highlighted."

The games have so far been positive for the nation with a total of six medals so far being won. The nations first non-weighlifting medal came via Tevfik Teke in the rock-climbing. The games continue for the next few weeks and King Timur has committed to visiting the events at some point. In addition he has stated that every gold medalist will receive a new bungalow and $30,000, a silver medalist will receive a new car and $20,000 while a Bronze medalist will win a horse and £10,000. In addition the King has promised that anyone setting a world record will be given an exemption from taxes for life while a national record will see an exemption for five years.
