Major outcry after person accused of murder and rape is set free

Igor Nabriski which has been accused of the murder and rape of three women is to be set be freed after prosecutors apparently mishandled critical evidence and thus cannot be used in court. Furthermore, his lawyer has provided evidence that prosecutors did not respect his rights during the investigation causing him both stress and emotional harm. Mr. Nabriski is set to be released tomorrow and his lawyer has already issued a statement saying that they will sue the prosecutors for damages.

The case has further divided society on ethnic lines. Slavic MPs have stated that the trial was in accordance the constitution which provides defendants with rights which have to be respected and that the defendant remains innocent until proven guilty.

On the other hand, one Parthian MP called the trial and judicial proceedings "the perfect example of everything that is wrong in this country: criminals are protected while victims and their families are made to pay because I have no doubt this monster will win in court and force all of us, including the victims' families, to pay him millions. Anywhere else in Midaranye such a case would see the man either enslaved or get the death sentence.  One only needs to look at how Clysperis handles these things. This Republic however prefers to go out of its way to protect criminals. "

Many in the Parthian community are asking people to protest against the court's s decision with police expecting crowds of at least 40.000 to show up during the weekend.

The Values Survey for youth shows worrying signs says Ministry of education

The latest values survey for people between the ages of 14 and 18 has many in the ministry of education and the entire government worried. According to the study which was funded by the ministry of education, people in the age group mentioned before believe the following:

-60% say that the concept of innocent until proven guilty should be abolished

-40% say that women should give precedence to men (this opinion is shared 30% of women surveyed)

- 55% agree with the statement the "government is actively trying to suppress traditional values of our society" .

- 60% say the death penalty should be reintroduced

- 40% say that physical punishment, including one that could lead to permanent body harm, is an acceptable form of punishment for those that commit violent crimes (ex: rape, murder).

-20% says that chattel slavery is an acceptable form of punishment

-65% agree that abortion, divorce, adultery and prostitution should be banned.

Worse still the following data was released regarding trust and favorability in public figures:

-30% says they have a favorable view of the President that is tied with the Tamoran Emperor

-25% have a favorable view of King Heydar

- 35% have a favorable view of the Pramorian queen

When it comes to foreign policy, the opinions are:

-30% consider the Tamoran Empire a threat for the Republic, the highest percentage for a Midaranye country. That is lower than the 35% who consider East Moreland, Bakkermaya each a threat, 45% see both Seaforth and Rokkenjima as threats for the Republic. That is despite the fact that these nations have not issued any sanctions or shown hostility towards the Republic.

-75% say they have heard of the Helusian Empire, 50% say it is a correct term to describe the three majority Helusian countries of East Moreland,  Bakkermaya and Seaforth.

-50% say they have watched or read the speech “We Are Not A Problem To Be Handled; A Midaranye Declaration Of Independence” given by the Clysperi Pharaoh as opposed to only 30 who watched or read la latest the state of the Republic annual address.

Furthermore, according to the latest census data approx. 65% of the age bracket 14-18 is of non Slavic background. One MP has called these numbers a disaster and has called on the minister of education to resign. Others have called for Manist religions schools in the country to be closed while others MPs have asked for a complete halt on immigration less “the Republic risks to become MidAranyen- zied”. Parthian MPs though we're happy with the survey saying that the data shows "the country is fast embracing Midaranye values and that is something to be celebrated not feared. In a democracy people are free to have whatever opinions they want".

Latest census data shows fertility is now well above replacement rate

The Office for statistics has released data for 2018 showing that the fertility rate is now well above replacement rate and is at comfortable 2.4, above the 2.1 necessarily for replacement.

The increase in fertility in recent years is largely attributed to women from an immigrant background which has a fertility of 3.2 compared to 1.6 for women without such a background. The same Office has stated that the fertility rate combined with steady immigration will ensure the population of the Federal Republic will continue to rise for the foreseeable future.

Voluntary work and donations on the rise in the Federal Republic

Latest study shows that citizens have become increasingly more generous. Whether it is voluntary work or donations there both on the rise. Citizens of Slavic background have chosen to donate both their time and money to secular NGOs such as the Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association while those of Parthian background have chosen overwhelmingly to donate their money and time to their respective religious organizations. The growth in voluntary work and donations is largely driven by the above average growth for those with Parthian background. According to the study the increase there is driven by the religious requirement of donating 10% of income to the religious institutions they belong to.

MCUR narrowly rejected by Parliament

In a close vote 52 to 48 the proposed singing of MCUR was rejected. The vote was largely along ethnic lines will all those of Parthian background voting against signing MCUR. However it was the vote of other minorities and 4 MPs of the government coalition that turned the tide against the international treaty aimed at protecting human rights. The four MPs were part of the ultra-religious right of the government party and members of the Orthodox Church.

The government has said that they are deeply disappointed with the vote but respect the decision of the Parliament. While the opposition praised as a victory of traditional values and Midaranye values.  One MP of the opposition said " I think signing MCUR would have sent the wrong message in Midaranye that we are out of touch with what is happening in the region. I mean just a few weeks ago we had the Queen of Royal Seleucid send a powerful message in defense of family values. Also, MCUR is signed by some of the nations that have shown outright hostility towards the affairs of Midaranye. I will name here: Rokkenjima and  Seaforth among others. I am disappointed to say that this government’s foreign policy is out of touch with what the people, especially young people, want and is also increasingly out of touch with the values of Midaranye where we live. Latest data shows the economy shows no sign of recovering from the recession

The latest data from the Ministry of Finance shows that the economy continues its downward trend it has for more than three years. Furthermore, the already high unemployment of more than 14% is likely to increase to 15% as more and more businesses are downsizing. The Ministry has said that among the factors that are causing the recession is the social unrest in the country ( in 2018 there have been more than 40 large protests around the country with half turning violent causing a total of 5 billion dinars in damages and lowering investors' confidence in the economy), the massive public debt that continues to increase as more and more people are applying for benefits under the current economic conditions, the complicated regional context where international sanctions have hit both Tamora and Slava Lavosk as well as competition from other Midaranye countries that are now opening free economic zones as well as other factors.

The minister of Finance had this to say:" the economy is going through a though period but the government is doing everything in its power to ameliorate its effects. Unfortunately, most of what is causing the recession is not in our power to fix. The news that our Eastern neighbor has nuclear weapons has greatly unsettled foreign investors whom are increasingly seeing the region as unstable. We are hopeful that the international community will solve the ongoing crisis but other issues like the threat of war between Empire of Tamora and the Republic of Slava Lavosk still remains. I nevertheless want to reassure the people that the government has no intention of cutting the benefits our citizens have. The government must be there for the people when times are tough and the federal government will not let the people down."

The leader of the opposition however said that" the government is hiding its incompetence by blaming the region's problems for the recession. Royal Seleucid is not experiencing any downturn and neither is Pramoria and they are in the same region. That is because those countries are monarchies ruled by people who think long term rather than for the next election cycle. This country will not recover until it changes its form of government. "

The Slavic Central Bank rejects the acquisition of SNB by Damarga Royal Bank

The Slavic Central Bank has issued a press release saying that it will not allow the acquisition of SNB citing security concerns and reputational risk as Damarga Royal Bank is owned by investors with ties to both the Royal family of Pramoria and business interests in Tamora which is on the sanctions list of many countries.

Monarchist Party introduces bill to allow the acquisition of SNB bank by Damarga Royal Bank

The Monarchist Party has introduced a bill in parliament that will allow for the acquisition of SNB bank by Damarga Royal Bank following the rejection of the transaction by the Central Bank.

The Monarchist heavily criticized the decision calling an "an insult to Midaranye business interests and deeply rooted in racism".

"Parliament has the chance to make things right and show to the electorate of Parthian background that this Parliament does not think there is anything wrong to being Parthian. "

The Parliament voted in favor of the bill with several members of the ruling party voting in favor and stating that they do not want to have the issue politicized so close to the next elections.

Igor Nabriski who was accused of the murder and rape of three women but the trial was suspended and the man released when it became apparent that prosecutors mishandled critical evidence has now won court damages of 2 million Slavic dinars for the way prosecutors handled the interrogation, for the emotional stress caused and the reputational damage the trial caused him.

Hundreds of thousands took to the streets to protest against the court's decision. Some of the protests turned violent.

The Monarchist Party criticized the court calling it a "bad joke" from a "judicial system that protects criminal activity " .

Parliament debates naturalization of more than 2 million illegal immigrants

Debates have started in Parliament on the bill proposed by the Monarchist Party to grant citizenship to any immigrant living in the Slavic Federation provided they have no criminal record and pay a fine. There are approx. 2 million illegal immigrants in the Slavic Federation, many of them of Tamoran and Clysperi origin. The issue has far reaching implication as the 2 mil immigrants could significantly change the electoral landscape of the country and favor the Monarchist party which enjoys support among the Parthian community of more than 90%.

MPs of the Monarchist Party have said “if convicted criminals are allowed to vote in this country why aren’t immigrants?”
