Sarandib and Socram News NetworkSELEUCID LOCUSTS REACH SOCRAM FARMS After months of ravaging the fields of Royal Seleucid, a smaller swarm of locust has arrived in North Socram. Locusts are historically known to have visited and destroyed large portions of farmland. However, thanks to modern pesticides, such events have been controlled and large-scale locust infestations have not occured in almost a century.
Farmers from the island still ask the Department of Agriculture to help them prepare for the worst case. "This is our only livelihood. We are too poor to go to the city and we can't get any other job. If these damn locust destroy our crops, then we will be sure that you feel how we feel." A farmer from Northern Socram said. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Agriculture gave a statement on the situation. "Yes, I know that this situation is serious and shiuld not be taken with a grain of salt. However, we all know that these pests can be taken care off with pesticide. All we need is a few pesticide sprays and a prayer to Vishnu."
