Niameck Fashion Week 2020 - Socialisation Thread

Niameck City Square Evening of the 10.2.2020

Adelheid walked to the Backstage Lounge, sitting down in her Red dress as she picked up a glass of Champagne: "I Wonder who's even going to be here today."

She glanced around, some Band members, and an adorable little guy in a Bunny costume getting hogged by all the Women in the Backstage Area.

She was hoping for Makar to make it for the whole week, but knowing he was still military, she wasn't sure for which events he even got off duty.

"You look like you need someone to cheer you up."

Julian Wingert helped himself to a glass of Champagne, toasting to Adelheid.

"How did you..." she raised an eyebrow, sipping from her flute: "Ah, right. Sometimes i forget you are a Wingert after all."

"You and half the Country, which i'm actually relatively glad for. It's not like i will inherit anything. They can'T take away my name as well and it stings them, so i like to remind them that i am doing my best to stay relevant."

As he sipped from his Champagne, he smiled: "Heads up, you got a whole week ahead of you."

Spoiler: show

OOC: For making this more readable: I suggest for you to color code your replies, as this will later on have events for several days. I just started off with Orange for Monday.

For Stasya this was just another day at the office, not like she had one, but for Jessica Spencer-Cole and Emma Maybury this was all rather eye opening. The pair had become the first Ladies in Waiting in East Moreland's recent history and the whole situation was rather mind blowing for the young girls. Alexandrea Samuel was also getting hear head around the new position she had as Stasya Pelagiya's new chief of Household. Stasya was relishing her last real week before the responsibilities of being a Queen kicked in and intended to make the most of it. "Your Grace, the cars are here." Alexandrea informed Stasya as the two girls finished helping her apply the necklace she was wearing for the evening. It had been carefully selected, thanks largely to her future husband's press secretary who it turned out despite being like a tiger to those outside the Royal Family circle was more like a kitten to those within it. She had selected a bright yellow dress for the occasion and expected David to moan about it when she returned however he was a more practical man and less likely to understand what fashion truely was about. She had insisted that Emma and Jessica donned matching dresses of red and white, the national colours of her new homeland and the girls frankly adored their outfits which were far more glamourous than what they'd normally have worn. Alexandrea however would be in the background organising things and so a smart pant suit would do for her.

"Thank you Alex" Stasya gave herself one last look in the mirror before heading downstairs from her room in the East Moreland embassy. She wandered downstairs and smiled as she saw the ambassador and his staff looking puzzled at the newly arrived convoy of vehicles.

"You're sure we can't get my car for you Your Grace?" The ambassador asked as he watched the security agent assigned to Stasya looking almost embarassed. The two Strike Vehicles where normally seen on operational duties with Red Legion, but a quick phone call from the future Queen to Henley Automotives could get you what you wanted if you had the cash. The dull green paint job had been replaced with a bright gleaming gold colour that complimented the Duchesses dress and the faux military escort, dressed in a stylised version of East Moreland's Red Legion dress unifrom took up their positions. Stasya had naturally changed the colours, the jackets yellow like her dress, the plumes bright pink. She wasn't silly enough to have them wear replica uniforms. The two vehicles took off, Stasya and Jessica in the first vehicle with Emma and Alex in the rear. It was rather breezy on the trip to Niameck City Square but Stasya liked the fact she could see heads turning as they passed. As they arrived at the "red carpet" Stasya had both vehicles stop side by side, the two Ladies in Waiting exited their vehicle ready to help Stasya out but had forgotten about the surprise the Duchess had arranged. A "Guard" on each vehicle stood and manned the bright pink rocket launcher and with a huge "BOOM" and smoke a whole stream of flower petals errupted forth, Jessica nearly jumped out of her skin and Emma nearly fell of the heels she wasn't that used to wearing. Both chuckled as they steadied each other before helping Stasya from the vehicle. The "Guardsman" fell in to form a moving square around the three women as Alex made her way inside to check that things were being put in place for Stasya's fashion companies show later in the evening.

Stasya posed for as many photos as she thought the media would want before making her way inside flanked by her two Ladies in Waiting just in time to sit in the front row of the opening. She made her way backstage and spotted Adelheid and made her way over, "Your Highness" she bowed slightly, this would probably be the last time she'd feel obligated to do so, being a Queen next time they saw each other. She liked Adelheid, they both had a similar outlook on life, or at least Stasya thought so. "Thank you for inviting me. I've two new friends to introduce, Emma and Jessica, I'm bringing some Lodjain culture to East Moreland so soon they'll have balls, Ladies in Waiting and Poets instead of swords. She took hold of the pendant at the end of the necklace, "We thought we'd at least co-ordinate a little with your nation, but didn't expect it to be so obvious." She showed Adelheid the silver rabbit on the end, it's eyes made out of green stones. " So what entertainment do we have for the evening."

"Lovely." Adelheid chuckled at the two ladies: "I can already see the headlines, you left quite some people groaning blasting through half the country in those vehicles." she gave Stasya a kiss on each cheek:

"Also, don'T bow to me, you are the Bride of a King, i'm just the second rate Princess." she nudged toward Augustin in his bunny costume: "That guy is currently Crown Prince with the twins still missing and Orion not having any offspring yet."

She waved to the stagehands to get Champagne to Stasya:

"Admittedly, some clubs are open, but i didn't expect you to have time until your own show this week. But... talking about invitations..." she smiled:

"Could you see if you find some space for me during the actual ceremony. My brother slighted me by using our third slot for him." she points to bunny boy.

Handing champagne to Stasya and her Ladies in Waiting: "As for the Swords, i quite like them. They give of a Vibe of Strength and Security while not having this weird Redneck vibe Guns carry."

She sipped form her own Champagne, glancing over to Augustin getting smooched by several Charity Chairwomen: "Heh. Already knows how to get the Ladies. How did you like his little stunt earlier? Was his idea. I think he already understood this game better than most adults."

"Well I assume that you guided him a little." Stasya responded to the comments on the Princes appearence. "I know he's well liked back home in East Moreland. You know there are some saying that a marriage should be arranged between Princess Rhiannon and the young Prince." It was true, but it tended to be more of those who seemed to think the old way of political marriages was still important, and of course a handful who believe Rhiannon could convert Neu Urburzis to the Cult but that was highly unlikely. "As for getting you into the ceremony I'm sure that will not be a problem, I happen to have a few useful connections" she chuckled and motioned for the youngest of her two Ladies in Waiting to come over, "Emma, this is Princess Adelheid, can you make sure that she gets added to the list of guests for the wedding and the coronation."

"But Your Grace the seating plans have been finalised." Emma said quietly.

"Its a Temple designed for a thousand people they tell me, I'm sure an extra chair isn't going to be a problem." Stasya replied, "Please don't question the instructions just make sure they happen." Emma nodded and returned to a few meters away where Jessica was chatting to some local celebrities. "My new girls have a lot to learn about their task but I'm sure they'll be quick learners. I did consider trying to headhunt Jasmina but I figured I should employ Morelanders or no doubt they'd complain. I'm actually sending them to Lodja while me and David are on Honeymoon so they learn things properly."

Niameck fashion week was now a practical fixture on the calendar for Amelia Whittaker, the decent success of the previous year had been helpful and had helped get Black Rose, her label, a small international foothold. That success had prompted Amelia in coordination with her good friend Sam Baxter to plot what could be described as a highly ambitious plan for this years fashion show, they had two show days and two workshop days planned naturally that meant they were showing off two very different clothing types so to speak one would be street style the other more formal and then there were the two workshop displays. Heading up the workshop side of things would be Cécile Alméras, still a youngster in the industry but fast establishing herself as Black Rose's top designer.

Amelia's secret weapon for this years fashion week was firstly in the models, she'd roped in the One Voice Children's Choir and that meant that Renee Azurewind was in town to help. With Cécile keeping an eye on the kids, well more precisely checking their fittings ahead of the first show the following day, they'd do a practice run once the lights had gone down for the night. This left Amelia, Sam and Renee in the backstage lounge doing the socialising, there weren't any surprise guests so far it had been a fifty-fifty guess as to whether Stasya would turn up especially with her wedding to King David looming larger by the day. Adelheid wasn't a shock by any means either, she was after all what could easily be called the patron of the event.

"Usual crowd." Sam observed
"Pretty much." Amelia said "You know the drill basic small talk."

Noemin Okeke was rather an oddity among those gathered so far, she had no royal connection and no title. Her fashion label "2 Worlds" was rather unknown compared to those in the room and her "show" was set to be one of the smaller ones put on at an hour no doubt when people were still hungover from the parties the night before or enjoying the free flowing champagne which she avoided instead favouring just orange juice. Her label was a good description of herself, she saw herself as a child of two worlds, born in Mogebbe in Zimalia her father had been fortunate enough to have served in the Army alongside Binyamin Elwes and following his coup had found himself favoured with various cushy postings which allowed him to use a combination of corruption and clever investments to make himself a fortune. He had also been wise enough to realise that the favour of Elwes could be fleeting and had sent a fair chunk of money out of the nation through various hands in places such as Heyra to ensure his family wouldn't be without money. He had also sent his two children, Noemin and her older brother Henry to private school in East Moreland. As such she had spent the majority of her formative childhood in Northfort during term time or with friends in Silverhills during school holidays. It gave her what she thought was a unique insight to the fashion world as she had tried most of her life to slide between these two very different cultures, the rather conservative and tribal focused Zimalia but also the liberal world of East Moreland.

She was wearing a long purple dress that went down to her wrists and swept the floor around her feet. It was embroided with yellow and green patterns of a tribal nature based on something she had recalled from Mogebbe markets when a child. She tried now to get all her fabrics from there, that was another key part of her ethos, everything made from natural products, Zimalian grown cotton, hemp, silks from places like Toshikawa and occasionally furs from the Alanders. She was unsure how the world would see her as she still used fur but she had ensured that all the fur she had used came from wild game hunted for meat rather than just for sport or fashion, in fact being connected to East Moreland made that rather easier as they still had a rather active hunting community who ate game regularly. She recognised Adelheid as the organiser and of course Duchess Stasya a woman who would soon be Queen of one of her two worlds. She would be an important person to get connected with but also in some ways a rival as she had her own line. Nevertheless Noemin made her way over towards one of the two Ladies in Waiting she recognised from photos with the Duchess. "It's Miss Jessica Spencer-Cole isn't?" She asked already certain of the answer. "I was wondering if it was convenient I could trouble the Duchess for a moment or two of her time. I'm a designer showing here. My names Noemin Okeke" she added confident that Jessica wouldn't have a clue who she was.

By all rights Chalor Mali Kimnai should be nervous; not only was she was in the presence of foreign royalty but she was the only designer present from Kinkhnland. By all rights having to represent her nation in such a way should have been quite the burden, but that was not how Kimnai saw it at all. No, there was no doubt in her mind that this would go exceedingly well for her; socializing with the international elite was always full of opportunities and she relished the success of her show, despite it not having been put on yet. But she knew it would be a success. Some back in Kinkhnland might say that Kimnai's fashion line, Chalor, didn't deserve to be as successful as it was. That she became one of the top fashion designers in Kinkhnland through sheer luck instead of hard work. But Kimnai resented such words, or at least the latter. Even she had to admit that it was pure luck that several of her designs had caught the eye of one of the Grand Princesses all those years ago, but the success of Chalor had come from Kimnai's slavish diligence as much as the patronage of royalty.

Today she was dressed in the traditional dress of her people as anything else would send the wrong message; she was, after all, her to represent her people in a way. The ensemble was of white & golden silk, from the ankle-length skirt to the long strip wrapped around her upper body, weaved with geometric patterns. But in addition to this Kimnai wore both a pair of leather shoes & numerous pieces of ivory jewelry: wristband, necklaces, earrings, and rings all. And this was how Kimnai preferred to make a fashion statement. While something as garish and gaudy as the soon-to-be-Queen's entrance might be well-and-good for some, Kimnai preferred a more subtle approach. And if foreigners knew one thing about the Kinkhns, what was that? That they were cannibals. It was something Kinkhns were very open, and some dare say proud, of. So Kimnai wouldn't hold up a metaphorical sign demanding people look at her, no she would introduce herself and let their minds wander. Were her shoes simple leather? Was that really just ivory decorating her body? The answer was "no" of course; Kimnai wasn't so subtle as to not wear human leather and bone after all. But she wasn't going to go around openly advertising the fact.

After scanning those assembled Kimnai decided to head to Amelia Whitaker & Sam Baxter; the pair weren't engrossed in conversation yet, which was as good a start as any. She grabbed a champagne on the way over and took a sip, giving the pair a polite smile as she introduced herself.

"Lady Whitaker, Mr. Baxter," she nodded respectfully, then gestured at herself, "Lady Chalor Mali Kimnai. From Kinkhnland." She didn't expect the pair would know who she was; Chalor didn't really have any international presence to speak of and she wasn't really of notable blood herself, with her Ladyship having been bought from the government. But that wasn't particularly important at the moment.

"I'm one of the other designers putting on a show here this year, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance," she smiled, "I hear last year's show was quite fortuitous for Black Rose, I pray this year's show is just as successful."
