"The last time you called me sir would be what twenty six, twenty seven years ago?" he said "You remember it?" he giggled a little "Of all the things my children have done to make me proud of them, high up on the list is that they paid attention in school, never got in trouble, never put me in the position of having to get called into the school to have a chat with the teachers... well I say never, there was this one time. Beatrice was twelve and I get called into the school, she'd never been in trouble and I'm wondering what's going on, when I got there with Iona who was sitting outside the headmasters office? A very messy Beatrice in tears, three boys and then right next to Beatrice this scrappy looking girl with dark hair, or to put it another way you, comforting her. I wasn't getting called in because Beatrice had done something wrong I was getting called in because Beatrice had been bullied and another girl had stepped in, beating even the bodyguard we had assigned to look after her. Beatrice's first proper friend, you have no idea how important you are, so no don't give me you not being worth my time."
Peter took a breath, still smiling, "I didn't entirely come here to walk down memory lane with you but it's hard not to." he continued "I remember taking you and Beatrice for ice cream that day, I remember watching you look at each other the same way you look at each other now, I remember when Serenity was learning to talk and she couldn't pronounce your name so she called you 'Luci' and then how Beatrice turned that into your nickname, I remember when Beatrice talked me into getting you out of the orphanage you were in, she didn't know it but she had Daddy wrapped around her finger. I also remember your weird choice in pizza toppings and that getting you to tidy your room was like fighting a war half the time."
Peter handed Lucinda his phone with the photo gallery up "Go on." he said, he smiled as she flicked through it, the album was mostly family pictures there were birthdays, weddings, picnics and so on but right there in the middle of them was a picture of Lucinda in a costume "Remember that?" Peter asked "The school did We Will Rock You for their musical that year and you got to play Scaramouche." he reached into his pocket and pulled out a memory stick "Full copy of the show." he handed it to Lucinda "I remember paying for your singing lessons, which turns out is money well spent and I remember Iona teaching you to play the piano." he indicated the picture on the phone "That's the Lucinda I know, that's the Lucinda that I have always been thankful for just because you've always been there, I may have raised Beatrice but you filled the void she had. Drop the mask and put up your sword, it's time you got to live your life without the metaphorical axe hanging over you and I'm willing to bet I'm not the only person to have said that to you." he glanced at the door and sighed "I can see your shoes Beatrice."
