Prime Minister Gela Berdzenishvili resigns; Brzdmtsveli appoints Bidzina Samkharadze

Bidzina Samkharadze replaces Gela Berdzenishvili after eight years in power.

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Gela Berdzenishvili, the appointment by Brzdmtsveli Ketevan Chakahava of Bidzina Samkharadze as Prime Minister was received with caution but some hopes in pro-reform and liberal-minded circles and media, as Samkharadze has a reputation of being a member of the National Assembly with a record associated to what it is often described as the "Liberal Wing" of the parliament.

A member of the National Assembly since 2008, he has expressed support in the past toward an official register of political parties in Mktvartvelo and open reform of electoral legislation. However, his lack of government experience, as he has not been in the government before, although he has certain renown as both lawmaker and scholar, caused that he was not exactly between the favourites to replace Berdzenishvili as Prime Minister. The election as President of the National Assembly of Ramaz Kintsurashvili, who has a reputation as a moderate and had different government roles in the early 2000s had led to speculation that Berdzenishvili's government would be able to survive despite a slightly disappointing result in the legislative election. But this feeling soon faded away, and Berdzenishvili's premiership, which started in 2014, became to its end.

Only two ministers, Tariel Tavadze and Merab Arakishvili, who had recently joined the government, will continue in the new administration. In his first intervention, Bidzina Samkharadze was rather cautious and vague, although he promised to "bring long-lasting changes and reforms" to Mktvartvelo, it gave the impression that a radical shift from the previous administration may not be expected. Some anaylists has described that, after a first look and despite some promising names, Samkharadze's government may be one of compromise, with a combination of veteran politicians and young lawmakers, including liberal, moderate and right-leaning ministers. On balance, however, it seems that the average age of the ministers will be slighly lower compared to Berdzenishvili's governments. Samkharadze declared that "transparency, proportionality, and justice" will be the three pillars of his government.

One of the most striking names is the inclusion of Anzor Papuashvili, mayor of Azavrelia since 2014, who is rumoured to become one of the five Deputy Prime Ministers (often known as "super-ministers" in Mktvartvelo, for their political influence in the Council of Minister). Zviad Alaverdashvili, a retired military officer, well-known for his criticism on industrial and foreign policiy of Berdzenishvili's government in parliamentary sessions. It is expected that a more clear vision about his government will be announced in Prime Minister Bidzina Samkharadze's first address to the National Assembly tomorrow.

Some residents fear "legal limbo status" after Supreme Court ruling

The Supreme Court of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo has suspended five articles and six clauses from the Residency Act, a legislation which has been part of Jugland's legal system since 2006. The Supreme Court argued that the repealed articles were contrary to the constitutional order and the Midtenstadt Agreement, which officially established the Free Autonomous Territory of Jugland. The ruling came following a case brought by the National League, a legal organization focused on immigration and law enforcement issues.

The most important consequence of the ruling is the suspension of the Residency Identity Cards issued by the Juglander authorities as a legal and official document. The mentioned identity document is issued by Juglander administration to any legal resident registered in the local census. However, the Supreme Court argues that those documents can not have legal status, as the competences on immigration policy lies on the Ministry for Immigration Policy.

As a result, it is feared that thousands of residents in Jugland, particularly those who moved to the territory after 2006 could face important legal challenges to remain legally in the country, if they fail to legalize their administrative situation. The situation will also affect many minors born in Jugland after 2004, who were automatically granted residency in the territory, after Mktvartvelian citizenship was also offered to those born in Jugland before that date.

Most government officials have been highly critical of the decision, calling for urgent measures to solve the situation. Burkhardt Kvalheim, President of the State Governorate, declared to be confident that a legal alternative will be achieved, declaring that the State Governorate is looking for a way to solve the situation. He has also offered willingness to find a negotiated solution with Mktvartvelian national government to avoid any negative consecuences regarding the rule.

Kvalheim urged calm to those affected, declaring that they "are welcomed and they should not be afraid of their legal status...I promise that a solution is going to be reached soon", he said, trying to calm fears about some residents could be forced to either leave the country or remain in an undocumented situation.

Parebi Systems tests new unmanned aerial vehicle

Parebi Systems have declared "a categorical success" the first test flight of Shavrinveli 27, a new generation unmanned combat aerial vehicle developed by the Mktvartvelian company.

The flight test, which was later released as part of a promotional video, was attended by Minister of National Defense Merab Sakandelidze. The minister praised Parebi Systems for their "scientific and technological spirit", and declared that such technology will be able to improve the potentical of the United Armed Forces of Mktvartvelo. The aerial vehicle was described as an "unique and first purely indigenous" drone developed in Mktvartvelo.

It is expected that Shavrinveli 27 will be produced and incorporated into the Joint Defense Development Program, along with other Parebi Systems products and models.

Shavrinveli 27 is named after a mythical goddess of the same name, well-known for his role in the creation legend in Simartlean religion.

Amazing week for Juglander cycling

Lenza Sverdrup gave a second win to Kommuna Ladies this season with a surprising attack in the final kilometres at the Sachkhumi-Zestomi-Sachkhumi cycling race.

After leaving Zestomi, a large group was formed led by Phoenix Cycling and Higabana teams. "It was a tough day", Sverdrup declaring a few minutes after crossing the finish, "but we knew that the final kilometres were going to be difficult for any team, we needed to resist and wait our chance to come". She declared that her team had trained in these roads, and it helped her and her teammates as many teams did not know these roads.

It was the first professional win for Sverdrup, one of Kommuna Ladies youngest riders. "It's amazing, I still can't believe it. We are so happy, we were highly motivated, of course, but we did not expect to win so soon!", she declared in reference to her teammate Deorwyna Haugdahl, who won the Lacuna Classic a few days ago.

"I knew my rivals did not probably know me but I was confident because I know I'm really explosive and I ride easily with the rain...Still, it still felt so unreal until my team came and they were so happy for me", she confessed. "It feels great, of course, although the next races will be different. The season is long and we want to repeat this moment. It's not my main goal, but I want to be consistent and help our team", Lenza added, as in the previous races she served as domestique for her teammates.

Lenza Sverdrup completed an excellent week for Juglander riders, after the victories of Haughdahl and Asketyll Omdahl (MKT-ZSD) in Lacuna Classic last week. They will certainly to continue with this spell at home, in the coming Albrektberg Classic.

Immigration reform announced

Minister Aka Goglidze has announced that the Ministry of Immigration Policy is working to present the much discussed proposal to reform the immigration policy of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo to the National Assembly in the coming weeks.

"We are considering seriously the proposals from lawmakers and our own technical committees to advance a deep but balanced reform", Minister Aka Goglidze has declared.

Although important changes may be introduced on the current draft, it is expected that the legislation will liberalize the immigration and migration legislation, reducing obstacles and abolishing or at least considerably reducing punitive measures for the violation of the migration clauses.

It is not expected, despite rumours, that the legislation on citizenship or naturalization would be modified by the current reform though. Currently, only the children of female citizens have the right to citizenship in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, something that prominent liberal-leaning campaigners have argued to be discriminatory. However, Goglidze has declared that they are working with the Ministry of Justice in order to faciliate permanent residency and work for those non-citizens born in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo.

The minister has declared that she expects that the reform is likely to have important positive changes on trade and economic competitiviness, but that it is unlikely to have a serious impact on demographic or social trends, as some critics had warned.

Minister of Justice meets with Juglander representatives

Minister of Justice Veriko Kochladze visited today the Free Autonomous Territory of Jugland, becoming the first member of the national government to do so since Bidzina Samkharadze was appointed Prime Minister.

In Albrektberg, Kochladze met with the President of Jugland's State Governorate, Burkhardt Kvalheim, who also holds the position of Secretary of Home Affairs and Justice. The minister, who declared that her visit was "ordinary and conventional", met with Kvalheim for more than one hour. Kochladze declared that the meeting was "constructive", "cordial", and "positive". On his part, Kvalheim expressed his gratitude for the visit of the minister and hoped that both "Ktsatskuri and Jugland...will be able to find common ground on particular legal matters".

While the Free Autonomous Territory of Jugland has greater autonomy with its own judiciary system, it is subject to Mktvartvelo's constitutional order since 2004, which sometimes has created tensions regarding constitutional and legal matters, as it could be seen in a recent decision by Mktvartvelo's Supreme Court regarding resident cards issued by Juglander authorities.

Kochladze denied that the main purpose of her visit was to discuss a negotiated settlement on this decision, assuring that her visit had been planned shortly as she was appointed to the Ministry. Her appointment as Minister of Justice was certainly received positively in the local media, as Kochladze built a reputation as one of a new generation of liberal-leaning representatives in the National Assembly. However, she declared during her visit that "gradual and realistic reforms" shall "be the horizon of this government".

President Kvalheim declared to be satisfied with the "nature and purpose" of the meeting, and that he hoped that "our vision and voice will be seriously understood and considered" by the new administration in Ktsatskuri.

Kommuna Inc. reacts to takeover rumours

Ewald Huhtamo, CEO of Kommuna Inc., addressed the media after recent rumours and reports about a possible takeover agreement by Isiasovoria-Lodja Telecommunications to acquire a large number of shares of the Juglander company.

"Certainly", Huhtamo declared, "Isiasovoria-Lodja Telecommunications is a reputable, serious and expanding company in our sector, there is not doubt about that". However, he warned Kommuna's shareholders to have a realistic outlook, about their own interests, and about the interests of the company as well.

"We continue bring the best results to our shareholders and customers", Huhtamo said. However, he seems to disagree about the intent of Isiasovoria-Lodja Telecommunication, and warned and suggested the company shareholders to avoid selling their shares in the current circumstances. "I am proud to say that we have not only consolidated in our market, but experiencing an increasing rise in reputation, and this is the path we are going to continue. We are certain that such assessment sides with their own financial interests, there is no doubt about that".

Tax reform aimed to boost tourism in Mktvartvelo

Tsiuri Mazniashvili, Minister of Economic Development, has announced that Mktvartvelo's national government plans to introduce new week legislation which would introduce a set of tax exemptions in order to develop the tourism industry. "We believe that the demand is increasing, and we have a chance to further developing domestic tourism", the minister explained. "As well as a simplification and reduction in licensing and rigid regulations, we believe that the proposed tax exemptions will have an impact in improving our tourism facilities and increase employment in the sector".

The decision comes after the announcement of the Ministry of Treasury tax reform, which will see a reduction of the corporate tax from 28% to 20% while an increase of the top personal income tax from 33% to 40%. Mazniashvili has also declared that they hope that the simplification in VAT taxation established by the Ministry of Treasury is expected to have a positive impact in the growth of the sector as well.

The minister also announced that the government aims to introduce an increase in spending in public transport and communications in the coming budget, to strengthen and promote rural tourism in provincial areas.

Mktvartvelo: Islamic preachers sentenced for "unlawful and religious misconduct"

Five Islamic preachers were sentenced in a court case in Chiaiki, northeastern Mktvartvelo. They were accused of public disorder, unlawful confuct and aggressive proselytism.

The case has received media and public attention as such cases of religious misconduct are rarely prosecuted nowadays in the country. Some have argued that such legislation is obsolete and has no much sense in contemporary society. A number of theologians and religious leaders have denounced the sentence as a violation of freedom of religion. On the other hand, others have argued that should not be an excuse to ignore the law.

In any case, the judge ruled out a prison sentence, and they sentenced to a fine from $25,000 to $100,000, and six weeks of community service or compulsory public works instead. The judge argued that the "the conduct of the accused could only be described as...repeated offenses, which make the arguments of the defense inconsistent or weak...leaving no doubt, as the facts have established,  about the nature and purpose of their public conduct".

Three of the accused will face immediate extradition to Abydos, the country where they are from. Another one, who was born in Mktvartvelo but who is not a Mktvartvelian citizen, was also sentenced to temporary house arrest, until the appeal is decided. The judge argued that such provisional messure was justified given the suspect's "past and present motivation to ignore judiciary notifications before and during the current case". No further restrictions were decided for the fifth defendant, who is a Mktvartvelian national.

The legal teams of the defendants have announced that they will be appealing the sentences, bringing the case if necessary to Mktvartvelo's Supreme Court. Their change of success, however, are not clear.

FK Sandberg wins 2022 Juglander Cup

FK Sandberg defeated EMAC Albrektberg 4-3 to win their 27th Juglander Cup.

The Jugland Cup final was only decided in the extra time, after both times ended drawing 3-3 in the first 90 minutes. Veteran defender Colmand Moen became the unexpected hero, despite an erratic match, scoring two goals, including the final winning goal after a corner kick.

The match was likely enjoyable for fans and spectators, although probably not that much by the teams managers, although the match was marked by errors in defense in both areas.

It was the first title for FK Sandberg since 2015. The Juglander Cup is the second most important football title in Jugland, following the Juglander Elite League.

The title came after a disappointing season for FK Sandberg, in which they have been struggling in the Juglander league. Both teams will have to focus in the end of the season, as another league match expect them this weekend.

"We're surely disappointed", EMAC Albrektberg coach declared, "it was so close but we must continue. We have an important match this Saturday and that is all what should be on our mind. We hope that we will be able to offer our fans some joy soon". EMAC Albrektberg has failed to win an official title since 2017 when, then under their classical name of SK Albrektberg, they won both the Juglander Cup and the Elite League the same season.

Mktvartvelian millonaire in the spotlight after acquiring property in Kingdom of Nis

Mktvartvelian businesswoman Zhuldyz Birinseli, who made it last year into our "45 Under 45" list, has acquired real estate in the Kingdom of Nis, according to reports.

It is not a secret that she recently visited the northwestern country, as it could be seen by simply looking at her social media accounts. However, it was information provided by an unexpected source, Murab A., who runs the popular videoblog "Murab Casus", who recently visited the southwestern region of the Coft Aranye nation in the last weeks, brought new information by interviewing locals, some of which was confirmed by Mktvartvelian media in recent days.

It seems that the Mktvartvelian businesswoman acquired some lands in a southwestern county of said nation, including an old and poorly conserved castle, probably around one year ago. The building was rebuilt and renovated, to an extent that the building could be better described as a modern house inserted into a castle. Along the main building, it was also built what could be described as a guest house constructed with exposed concrete and raw steel, designed with a more clearly modernist architecture style. The complex also seems to include a 25-meter lap pool and a four-car garage. As it could be seen in Murab's videoblog, not all neighbors of the area seems to be very happy of this repurpose of one of the oldest medieval buildings of the town.

However, sources close to the Mktvartvelian businesswoman has rejected the reality of such claims, assuring that Birinseli would be in good terms with the local authorities, particularly after she offered to fund a "Museum of Local Customs" in the mentioned town, in which she permanently donated many objects and artworks that were included in the castle but she had not a particular interest to keep for herself, so local and tourists could see them.

It is not clear what could be the interest by Birinseli in this particular area, however, as the county where the house is located has reportedly only a few thousands inhabitants, not exactly one of the most dynamic regions of the eastern country. It is unknown as well how much time she plans to spend in the country, as she currently has her official residence in Mktvartvelo, as well as owning property in other countries. There are rumours that she would be under negotiationst to acquire more land in a nearby area, supposedly to build a vineyard, but this remains to be confirmed.

When asked by our publication, her representatives simply have asked for Mrs. Birinseli's right to privacy.

Brzdmtsveli Ketevan visits medieval shrine

It has been reported that Brzdmtsveli Ketevan has taken a few days off to visit a shrine 100 kms from the capital city of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. The shrine is well-known for guarding some of the remains of late Bedisa I the Sage, who ruled the Kingdom of Sashuavelo for a few decades in the 13th century.

The move has surprised many in Mktvartvelo, as Mktvartvelian head of states have rarely honoured historical figures from the Kingdom of Sashuavelo or other states of the same era, instead focusing those from ancient times or since the establishment of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo in the 18th century, as they are generally considered less divisive regarding inter-clan relations. While Queen Bedisa I is usually positively regarded by Mktvartvelian historians for the administrative reforms she administered and the relative political stability during her reign, she is also considered controversial for her persecution against Christians and other religious minorities.

Although the Office of the Brzdmtsveli gave few details about the visit, it has reported that the Brzdmtsveli offered a libation on the 13th-century Queen's headstone as offering, with the assistance of a local priestess.

The spokesperson of the Mktvartvelian government has rejected any political interpretation of the visit, while it received some criticism from some Christian organizations in Jugland, arguing that such visit without further historical context could be poorly misunderstood. However, others have argued that the visit may be better understood from a personal motivation rather than a political or religious one, as Queen Bedisa belonged to the Damoukebedi tribe, same tribe which Brzdmtsveli Ketevan's husband, Vazha Chiaureli, own clan comes from.

It is expected that Brzdmstveli Ketevan will also participate in the coming days in a religious celebration regarding the Datsqabuli festivity, which is consacrated to the goddess Bortsvimaghalia, one of the most important deities in the Order of Simartlea.

League title to be decided in final matchday

Defender Joonas Lange's red card may cost FK Albrektberg the title.

The 35th matchday of the Juglander Elite League, the most important championship in Jugland's football, started with much anticipations, and many things may be decided, including the champion of the league title. However, it will need to be decided in the final matchday, this weekend, as FK Albrektberg, which are currently leading the title, was unable to defeat AC Albrektberg.

EMAC Albrektberg started their match against AC Keskus four points behind FK Albrektberg, well aware that their effort could be futile if FK Albrektberg won their match. It was not easy, as the away team did not come to EMAC Albrektberg stadium as tourists, as they are currently facing to avoid relegation to Jugland' second division. They showed a clear opposition, but the resistance was finally defeated just before the half time, when EMAC Albrektberg scored the first goal of the match. The match finally ended with a 3-0 win for EMAC Albrektberg.

FK Albrektberg clearly showed no signs for the pressure, starting to dominate their match against AC Albrektberg, with many clear chances in the first twenty minutes. However, things complicated for FK Albrektberg when defender Joonas Lange was sent old after an unfortunate tackle at minute 35. As time passed more inaccuracies and unforced errors were accumulating by FK Albrektberg attacks, unable to drill into their rival defense.

The fight for the title between FK Albrektberg and EMAC Albrektberg will need to be decided in the final matchday, in which they will face in away matches SK Midtenstadt and AC Albrektberg respectively. Despite their renewed optimism after this matchday, EMAC Albrektberg fans should be cautious enough, as their club not only does not still depend on themselves but it may not be easy to win their match as AC Albrektberg, not only because their performance in their last match, but because the local team will be strongly needed of the win, as if they win they will surpass AC Keskus and avoid to face the playoff which may led them to relegation.

It was a sadder day for Nanko FC fans, as their team lost 0-1 against SK Midtendstadt and confirmed their relegation to second division (the second in three years), as they will finish last in this season league.

Inzhu Birinseli to head agro-corporation Niadatsqali Inc.

In a press statement, it has been confirmed that Bek Opakadze will be replaced by her daughter Inzhu Birinseli as CEO of Niadatsqali Inc.. Opakadze, 83, became CEO of Niadatsqali Inc., in 1996, following the death of Damir Birinseli.

Niadatsqali Inc. is one of the largest agrarian companies in Mktvartvelo. The company owns more than 56,000 ha., most of them in western and southern Mktvartvelo, although the company has expanded in other regions in the last two decades, as well as into livestock holdings, hunting, and solar energy.

Inzhu Birinseli, 44, has been a member of Niadatsqali Inc. board of directors since 2013, including serving as Director of Communication for the company from 2012 to 2016. While she will be the first woman to head the company, established in 1948, her case is far to be unique. About 40% of companies registered in the Azavrelia Stock Exchange, the largest in Mktvartvelo, are currently headed by a woman, as well as women making up 44 per cent of chief executives and 37 per cent of chief financial officers. For women in corporate boards, the number is estimated to be about 55% in 2021.

In comparison, for those companies listed in the Albrektberg Stock Exchange and originally established in Jugland, only 24% of board members in those companies are women, while women make up barely 8% of CEOs in those companies, despite Jugland having a higher GDP per capita than the national average in Mktvartvelo's mainland. Those numbers have caused some voices to suggest that Jugland's State Governorate is not doing enough to promote gender equality in the corporate world.

However, some have pointed out that such difference may be motivated more for cultural than social and legal causes, so those numbers may not be easy to replicate. "Many companies, including some of the largest ones", explains Eveliina Korpela, Professor of Contemporary Sociology in the University of Albrektberg, " in Mktvartvelo are still either family business or whose ownership are still held by a majority of families which may belongs to the same clan or as an union of two powerful clans. Particularly with the incorporation of women to high education in the second half of the 20th century, a larger number of women in the corporate boards seems a rational choice, as their wealth and influence is likely to be kept and be inherieted in the same family or clan, unlike their male counterparts".

Still, not everyone seems convinced by similar reasonings and Secretary Emmeline Kolseth, leader of the Green Party, has recently endorsed the establishment of gender quotas in corporate boards, although the idea seemed to gain traction in other Juglander political parties.

FK Albrektberg celebrates men's football league title

FK Albrektberg offered the Juglander Elite League title to their fans after winning the league in the last match. It was the 41th Juglander Elite League title for FK Albrektberg, the fifth in a row.

FK Albrektberg only needed a draw to win the title in their final match, but the team decided not to play with fire since the first minutes of the match, obtaining an overhelming win against SK Midtenstadt by 0-5.

EMAC Albrektberg won their match against AC Albrektberg by 1-3, but they had to console themselves with the runner-up of the league as the news from Midtenstadt left them with no options to win the league.

"While we would have preferred to do it in front of our people, it was certainly an excellent way to win the title", Okoda Shingo, FK Albrektberg manager declared after the match. "The season was not perfect", he added, probably in a reference to the team surprising elimination in the Juglander Cup quarterfinals against Nanko FC, "but we will continue this path". Next season, FK Albrektberg will surely attempt to continue breaking records in Jugland's football history by winning the Juglander Elite League for sixth time in a row, something that was only achieved once, precisely by FK Albrektberg when they won seven titles in a row between 1996-2002.

The season is not over, however, as AC Albrektberg will have to play the relegation/promotion playoffs, which will decide the last team in the 2022/2023 Juglander Elite League.

Mktvartvelo: Government to remove restrictions on emigration

Mktvartvelo's National Assembly voted, by a 321-207 vote to lift remaining restrictions on emigration. Under the new legislation, economic or penal penalties for violation of the law will be completely suspended on Mkatatve 3rd, that is, at the end of next week.

Aka Goglidze, Minister for Immigration Policy, declared to be satisfied with the wide majority that passed this legislation. However, she declared that the government does not expect that the legislation would have a meaningful impact on emigration, as such restrictions were mostly already lifted in practice, particularly since the new government took office, Goglidze argued after the law was passed.

Civil rights groups have praised the legislation, although some have argued that the legislation will have a limited impact for those residents who have not citizenship status, calling the government to give more necessary steps in that direction.

Mktvartvelo: National government denies reports regarding MCUR

Prime Minister Bidzina Samkharadze denied information that the Mktvartvelo government was considering to put a motion in the National Assembly to sign and ratify the "Mundus Convention on Universal Rights".

"I can express with certitude that we have been quite honest and transparet regarding our agenda and views as a government", Prime Minister Samkharadze declared. "There has not been a change in our general policy and such reports are not true. We have not changed our position".

Samkharadze argued that such controversy, by both of those supporting and opposing to ratify the treaty is rather sterile. "Most, if not all, of the rights listed in said convention are already recognized and protected, and in some case beyond the convention itself, already in the legislation and basic laws of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo", he argued.

The Prime Minister assured that the government is focused to advancing deeper reforms and expanding the rights of the Mktvartvelian people in coming legislation and government policy. He also expressed his conviction that that recent reforms, such as the lifting of emigration restrictions or the reform of labour representation is not likely to face opposition from the Council of State or the Brzdmstveli.

Order of Simartlea's Supreme Priestess addresses same-sex marriage controversy

Recent rumours that Prime Minister Bidzina Samkharadze is debating a bill which would legalize same-sex marriage, despite it has not been confirmed yet, has led to an increasing debate in Mktvartvelian society, including religious organizations and institution.

The Order of Simartlea (largest and national religion in Mktvartvelo) seems not to be different and Sinatdedopali Tsiuri Kavsadze (the head of the Order of Simartlea, whose title can also be translated as "Supreme Priestess") visited where she attended the General Assembly of the Order, a consultative body formed by priestesses, magistrates, and laymen representatives, in which she addressed this and other topics.

Kavsadze declared that she received communication from priestesses and communities around the country in the last weeks about this topic, and that was the reason, after some consideration, to address the issue in this particular context. "It must be important to recognize that marriage is a personal, social, and communal institution, and marriage from the point of view of the law and from the point of view of religious ceremony are two separate things", she argued.

"Our role is to assist families and to mediate between the men and the gods", the Sinatdedopali said, in reference to the clergy. "Our order has shown a consistent balance between flexibility and tradition. These times are not different. After serious considerations with some of the most experienced scholars and magistrates of our order, the Supreme Commitee, and my experience and judgement has led me to agree, this discussion does not pose a serious problem from a religious point of view".

The Sinatdedopali, however, was clear that this official position should not understood as endorsement of any policy or political position. "It is our role to guide our communities regarding ceremonial and communal issues. However, as any other legislation debated in the parliament or in the courts, there will be certainly many positive and negative arguments, from political, ethical, economic, sociological, psychological, etc. perspectives. That is outside the scope of our role". Regarding religious courts, she insisted that there will not be a final official document before there are official legal changes.

However, the Sinatdedopali argued that such flexibility and understanding can not turn into a denaturalization and perversion of the religious ceremonies and traditions. "In our tradition", she argued, "marriage is both a personal and social union, which unique role and function is centered toward purification and fertility...It is not up to us to change or reform the nature of our sacred ceremonies and rites, but to guide and perform according to the function and purpose that has been transmitted and respected from generation to generation". Therefore, the Sinatdedopali seemed to endorse the position that religious ceremonies will only be invovled where there are brides involved, excluding male same-sex marriages. She also opently rebutted those calling for ritual changes regarding animal cruelty. "As important as perform our duty in accordance to tradition and our sacred role is to avoid losing the meaning of such adherence and consistency. Modern life has become so sanitized that we are detached from nature", she added. "We can not turn on life on its head to a point where we feel disgusted about it in itself. All things are connected and we can not escapate this natural flow. Our role is both to mediate with the supernatural and remind ourselves of our belonging to this natural and sacred circle".
