Events in the Empire of Daitō
Name: The Shinkyō Cycling Grand Prix
Location: Shinkyō, Empire of Daitō
Type: One-Day Race
Gender: Both
Season: Summer
Terrain: The Shinkyō Grand Prix starts in the foothills that make up the outskirts of Shinkyō, the Capital of Daitō, before ultimately culminating in the famous
Iwami Crossing in the eponymous Iwami ward. For the most part, save for the very start of the race, the terrain is flat, while the route picked minimizes the number of major turns as much as possible.
More Info: The Shinkyō Cycling Grand Prix started in 1987, during the height of Daitō's "Bubble Era", as an international competition meant to draw in further investment to the city. Many expected, when the Asset Price Bubble burst in the early 90s, that the races would end. However, through the backing of the local government, it continued, and since the early-to-mid 2000s, it has once again begun to regain its popularity.
