To; His Majesty King Rutger

In the coming months we are considering a range of projects that we believe that you could have a useful input on.

We also would like to strengthen our relationships with nations around the world. With recent talks in East Moreland coming to an end I would appreciate an oppurtunity to visit and discuss things face to face. If this is possible I would be very grateful

Best Wishes

Diplomacy and Events / A Request from the Maori to Arashkai and Tytor
« on: June 04, 2021, 04:42:30 PM »

To:- Prime Minister Madeline Thatcher &  Eshai-va Arkan VII Vahram ve Sherkoz

I am writing to you with a request that reflects a cultural movement within my Commonwealth to ask for permission to construct a area known as a Marae. Traditionally these are areas of cleared land bordered by either a set of marker stones or fence at the heart of which is a meeting hall considered a sacred site to the Maori.

In our cultural beliefs there are several significant connections between Maori religious belief and islands under your governance. As such I am asking for permission to build a Marae on the Arashkai island in the North of the Kyne and the island of Floodwater. It is held by those of us who believe in the traditional Maori faith that once upon a time the Kyne was full of island and it was be navigating through these that we happened to end up in the Commonwealth a long time ago. It is our belief that some of these islands became the resting place of great spirits and in the case of the Arashkai island the warrior Tongariro took the island as his home while just across the water his lover the female warrior Pihanga took up residence on what is today considered Floodwater. Such was the beauty of Pihanga many other warriors came to steal her away however the two lovers fought them off, thus explaining the lack of other large islands in the Kyne today. We believe though that the spirits of these great warriors still reside there. As such these two islands should have places honouring their spiritual power and influence.

Should you see your way to agreeing we would like to purchase a plot of land, no smaller than 100meters by 100 meters, with a view overlooking the Kyne. Upon that site we would wish to construct on half of it a hall as described. The hall would be in the centre of the plot and sacred fences or borders erected around the outer edge. In addition we would like to make arrangements by which pilgrims can gain access to the sites once constructed if possible.

I look forward to hearing from you

Best Regards

King Piripi, not of the Ngāpuhi but of the Iwi

Dear Queen Atalanta II

With the Commonwealth missing your ceremony for new ambassadors it is my hope you will permit a visit in person by myself.

We are neighbours both of whom have experienced recent upheaval by wayward forces. I think we have much to support each other with and would be grateful for a private meeting between us.

Best Regards

King Piripi of The Iwi.

Diplomacy and Events / Request from CNN to Rokkenjima
« on: May 24, 2020, 12:41:37 AM »

To:- Empress Evanthe of Rokkenjima

As you will hopefully be aware the CNN are currently meeting for their annual conference. As part of this meeting a new CNN policy has been put in place. As such we are formally requesting the extradition of  Lt. Yanni Tawfeek and those arrested upon his arrival in Rokkenjima. As you have already refused to extradite them to the Commonwealth of the Iwi our request is that they be extradited to East Moreland where they shall be given a trial judged by four judges, one from each nation. Should a guilty verdict be reached then sentence shall be determined by Moreland laws. It is our hope that this will see the accused war criminal handed over to East Moreland's Military Police as soon as possible for transfer to Ostlake.

Signed

Princess Anfisa of Lodja
Chair of the CNN Council

On the 23rd of March 2019 Prince Kimo will turn ten years of age. This is an important time in the life of a Maori boy, a time when they put aside the carefree nature of childhood and begin to assume roles within the Iwi. Each Iwi celebrates this process in its own unique way and the Ngāpuhi will host a ceremony for Kimo's coming of age. As the largest Iwi of the Unified Commonwealth, and the Iwi from which the royal family descend this ceremony shall be witnessed by members of all Iwi's. We therefore extend this invitation to those foreign dignitaries who have been adopted into any of our Iwi. We look forward to welcoming you to our Marae on the 23rd and sharing this joyous occasion with you all.

Royal Envoy
Tane Sevasi of the Ngāpuhi

OOC - Had hoped there would have been developments with this but figure need to make it global. IC'ly this just happened

ALERT

Several hours ago four armed individuals attacked a court vehicle and abducted a lawfully charged criminal suspect. Yanni Tawfeek was lawfully arrested in Kaitaine and after investigation was linked to crimes against humanity during the Seleucid occupation of our nation. He is now a fugitive from justice. It is likely that the suspect and his accomplices have now left our nation and we urge all nations, especially those in Ardia to be on the look out for this individual who is likely to be armed and dangerous. We seek his return to Hunter's Bay to stand trial. We furthermore request the four individuals, suspected to be Seleucid nations, are arrested and returned to stand trial for murder, terrorism and aiding a suspect in escape.

A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO SLAVA LAVOSK

To: President Vaclav Kravec

In the past few months it has become apparent that Midaranye has the misfortune to be home to several nations with little regard for the basics of humanity. We have the nation of Royal Seluecid who have in their nations history committed two henious acts of genocide, both of which have gone unpunished, and their friends and neighbours Tamora who trade in human life. Sadly both our nations are blighted by the actions of at least one of these nations and the international community appears to do nothing but bend to their whims. It is therefore my suggestion that our two nations meet at your convenience and establish more formal ties where none yet exist. Perhaps this may even lead to a series of measures that could potentially counteract this evil duo.

I would be happy to host you in Hunter's Bay or travel to your nation, whichever is convenient.

In Friendship

War and Conflict / Operation Auahitūroa
« on: April 14, 2018, 02:08:32 PM »

Squadon Leader Anahera and his co-pilot Flight Liutenant Ngaire kept low across the Sea of Kyne with the three other Taha aircraft following, their aircraft was the only one carrying weapons while the others had hardpoints stuffed full of drop tanks. The boffins back home had calculated the refueling points to the milimeter and as each point came up Anahera would drop back into position, refill his aircrafts emptying tanks and fly onwards, soon the two where left with only one aircraft. The two Taha Fighter Bombers left looked identical until you examined the markings, one bore the "Kiwi Roundal" of the Commonwealth's air-force while Anahera's own aircraft bore the yellow lion roundal of Royal Seleucid, the aircraft having never been repainted since it was captured during the occupation. It had been kept just for occasions such as this.

After the final refuelling buddy left them they gained altitude and soon saw the flashing lights of the carrier The Arawa. It had been strategically placed to allow its Moana fighter bombers to continue the refuelling process. Some 500km off the coast of Seleucid the Moana's fell back to the carrier some 1,000km away, the rest of the plan was all down to praying the Seleucid military were as slack as the Morelander files from the genocide of the Cultists suggested, those files had included details of the Seleucid Air Defence network and using that knowledge the Taha was able to thread into Seleucid airspace, its transponder gave out a Seleucid code and visually they looked like a home nation aircraft. Within 40km of the target the four missiles were launched and the throttle pushed forward. The missiles cut a bright arc through the night sky heading out into the centre of the Seleucid desert. Two of the missiles had the same target, a storage facility for chemicals in this case Tributylamine, one of the precursers for Sarin. The other two missiles hit railbridges making the connection to the facility the other two had just hit.[1] The two Maori pilots dropped to ground level and threading the eye of the air defence needle once more headed back out to the Kyne meeting its refuelling buddies the Moana re-launched from The Arawa. By the time they reached home air-space they'd refuelled eight times and both felt like they could sleep for a week.

Already reports where coming in of radio chatter and media reviews of the attack, allegedly hitting a fertilizer plant and a civilian railway line.

OOC-2 - Some background.

Royal Seleucid occupied the territory of the modern day Commonwealth of the Unified Iwi from the 17th Century until 1983, however the final RS troops did not lay down their arms and leave until 2001. During the occupation the Seleucid forces enforced a brutal regime against the Maori natives of the Iwi, including the establishment of prison camps, forced labour, extra-judicial killings and using Maori as guinea pigs for biological and chemical weapons research. A week ago a strain of modified Bubonic plague reached The Iwi via AK City (still to be discovered). The strain of the disease is identicial to that developed in one of the tests undertaken in the Iwi during the occupation. So far The Iwi, AK City, East Moreland and Quintelia have confirmed cases.

To:- Members of the CMA

As you will no doubt be aware we have begun to experience an outbreak of the bubonic plague. Tests carried out by our medical services have confirmed that this strain of the disease is identical to that developed by members of the Seleucid Armed Forces during their occupation of our Commonwealth some 30 years or so ago.

This has lead us to believe that the outbreak is of Seleucid origin and therefore could potentially be a terror attack of sort aimed at us. We have the hopes that the international community will support us in ensuring that this potential use of biological weapons is investigated and if neccessary action taken.

We therefore call on the CMA to support the following actions.

1. An independent sample of the virus be taken and the strain confirmed by at least two CMA members unaligned to ourselves.

2. The CMA pass a resolution demanding that Royal Seleucid permit inspectors to explore military facilities for such weapons and traces or precursores of them.

3. That CMA nations restrict imports from Royal Seleucid in order to ensure the virus has no further outlets.

We welcome other suggested routes forward.

Thank you

King Piripi not of the Ngāpuhi but of The Iwi

Diplomacy and Events / Matariki 2017
« on: September 16, 2017, 12:04:10 AM »
Spoiler: OOC • show

Matariki is the Maori New Year, it is based on the sighting of certain stars and is a major celebration. It is a time when Maori will journey back to their ancestoral homes from around the world and news shared. Trees were planted to symbolise new life and those who have died in the last  year are honoured by their Iwi. At this time often tribes have a council as it is usually when you can guarentee the whole tribe being together. There are many rituals associated with it as well.

Hunter's Bay Airport was chaos, it always was this time of year, those Maori who had spread across Mundus returned home and as always those who hadn't been home for a long time were greeted with family members singing and dancing as they passed into the arrivals area. To anyone visiting from another culture the airport seemed loud as fierce looking men stamped and slapped their thighs as women sung delicate songs, the theatrics over hugs were exchanged and happy families reunited. This year however King Piripi was planning something different, unlike the rest of the Ngāpuhi he was not returning to the tribal home, after all he was "Not of The Iwi" and this year he intended to keep it that way. As such he had invited the nations of Mundus to come and join him and the royal family at the Hunter's Bay Palace an island complex which sat in the nations capital. It may have looked rugged but it was the epitimy of luxury and Piripi was looking forward to his hosting duties. Ceremonial canoes had been dispatched to the mainland, just a few hundreds meters away and soon the King hoped his guests would arrive and be offered drinks on the quayside before, all together, making their journey to the Island. He stood with his five year old son Kimo who, like his father was dressed in traditional attire, he was playing with his small rugby ball throwing it up and catching it, occasionally dropping it and unable to predict its uneven bounce chasing it hap hazardly until it came to a stop, much to his father's amusement.

Motto:- Kia kaha (Stay Strong)
National Anthem:- Gods Defend Our Free Land

BACKGROUND

The area of the Commonwealth was once called Aotearoa. It was settled by various tribes of Maori people between the period between 800AD - 1300AD.

These tribes arranged themselves into groups referred to Iwi and then in addition into hapū (sub-tribes). They formed a highly hierarchical society based around the role of the Iwi Chief and Iwi Council.

Throughout history the various tribes have always fought small scale battles however this was usually over resources, as farming techniques and yields increased these became less common and Iwi began working together rather than competing.

Between 1500-1600 AD the Commonwealth was settled by various foreign settlers originating from the area of modern day Mercia. These people believed they could conquer this new territory and their superior military technology subjugated the people quickly & established non-native rule. Following their victory at the Battle of Wahaiko in 1708 the invaders' began inviting other non-native groups to the area to establish the Empire of Hassop. They Iwians were treated as slaves and forced off their land.

In 1817 Chief Rangi Umaga began a movement known as Pan-Iwism which sought to break through tribal barriers that the Hassopites had used to keep the Iwians under control. The Invaders would often aid one Iwi in their quest to be the superior, as such this kept the Iwi's competing against each other rather than challenging the invaders. By 1822 Chief Rangi had united around 18 of the 30 Iwi's into one waka and began a guerilla military campaign against the occupiers. This often brought brutal retribution from the ruling government and their collaborators.

In 1830 Chief Rangi was captured and executed , he was denied a traditional burial, something that even those Iwi fighting against him protested, this did much to move even more Iwi over to the side of the Pan-Iwi movement. The war continued with Rangi's son Jehu as leader.

By 1868 the Pan-Iwi movement had conquered much of the region from the invaders who found themselves with less local allies and dwindling support from the other two Mercian Kingdoms who were appalled by the brutal actions. Effectively the nation was split in two "The Empire of Hassop" and the newly formed "Land of the Iwi"

In 1890 the Hassopites which still contested the territory of the "Land of the Iwi" began withdrawing to the Empire. As such the local governing body of the Hassopites made the decision to stop fighting and signed the Treaty of Wahabalu which split the territory between them and the Maori formally. The peninsular was then referred to as Occupied Iwi and Free Iwi by the Maori.

In 1891 a large gathering of all Free Iwi took place and officially formed the Commonwealth. This was a new system where each Iwi was represented on a tribal council. The leader of the Pan-Iwi movement at this time was Piripi Sevasi, he was elected unanimous King and became King Piripi Sevasi the First.

In 1897 the Treaty of Wahablu was broken by Occupied Iwi who attacked the newly formed Commonwealth starting a period of warfare that saw the Commonwealth pushed back. Through various treaties the Commonwealth became a vassal state of the Hassopites once more with the Sevasi family kept as mere puppets.

In 1950 the Hassopites began a brutal destruction of Maori culture in their nation and as such Queen Mara Sevasi ordered an uprising against the Hassopites. This war last almost thirty years and in 1983 the occupying government surrendered and all the territory was absorbed into the Commonwealth. Some factions still held out in hopes of a Hassop return until 2001 when fighting was finally declared over and a formal national constitution put into place forming an elected assembly under a monarch.
