To add onto my initial proposal, you could just rename Mundus' pre-industrial "communism". Have it be something like Jacobinism, which presents all that seems to be needed for an early "communism": extreme secularism, republicanism, anti-establishment/revolutionary threat, potential dictatorships, etc etc. It allows lore to stay unchanged (save for the renaming of one ideology) whilst making things make a bit more sense. In addition, socialist states could still develop from this theoretical jacobinism, as industry becomes more and more relevant.

Marxist-Zhaoism

Marxist-Zhaoism is the dominant ideology within the Commonwealth, and is the ideology the Commonwealth was established on. It is based around Zhao's political writings and theories.

The theory rejects the Leninist theory of a vanguard party which would lead a vanguard state under a Dictatorship of the Proletariat. It does believe that a state with the goal of advancing socialism and nurturing society towards communism is needed to combat counter-revolution and reaction, but that the state should be a free and open constitutional democracy. Marxist-Zhaoism points out that the proletariat must be free from political as well as economic exploitation, and that the political expression through elections and representative parties is the best feasible solution. Whilst the theory recognises that direct democracy is greater political expression than representative democracy, it points to the much harder and almost infeasible logistics of running a direct democracy.

The theory also rejects the Leninist theory of a central and planned economy, instead embracing worker councils and decentralised socialist economics. The theory is that local councils are best placed to run their local economies and that healthy individual local economies contribute to a strong and healthy national economy.

Comrade Zhao Guiren

Zhao Guiren (1865-1920) was a Jurchen statesman, psychiatrist and political philosopher who served as the co-founder and first chairman of the Jurchen Socialist Party, as well as the first President of the Second Jurchen Republic. He is often referred to as the "father of the revolution" among the Jurchen people due to his instrumental role in the 1916 revolution.

Born to a pig farmer in the Fengtian province, Zhao lived an unremarkable early life, but was sent at the behest of his uncle to study abroad in Preore, where he earned a doctorate in psychology in 1890, though he never referred to himself as "Dr. Zhao". Whilst abroad, he met his future-wife, who he would marry in 1902. In Preore he became influence by progressive ideas, particularly inspired by republican and socialist authors and philosophers, particularly of the Marxist variety. He joined the Preorian Communist Party in 1893, but left it in 1895 when he returned to his home.

However, he found himself increasingly frustrated at the failure of the ruling Jin dynasty to liberalise despite Jin promises to grant elected assemblies power. He joined the Jurchen Modernisation League in 1900, quickly becoming a well known firebrand speaker. However, his increasingly divisive views caused a split within the left and right wings of the League, causing its collapse in 1904. Zhao formed the Jurchen Socialist Party less than a year later, arguing that the liberalisation of the nation, whilst vital, was not enough to secure the liberties of the people. The party gradually grew both in size and influence, and though it had always faced police infiltration and crackdown, it was formally banned in 1910.

In 1912, following a devastating famine, Zhao took part in the failed 1912 revolution against the Jin, and escaped death by fleeing abroad. There, he formally collected a solidified his political theories in his book "The Cause for the Rebirth of the People." From exile he continued to direct and advise liberal and socialist movements, and was invited back into the nation in 1915 when the 1915 revolution toppled the Jin dynasty. He continued to promote socialism during the early years of the First Republic, though initially appeared to give up the revolutionary cause. However, when the President of the republic declared himself the new Jurchen Emperor and crowned himself as the new founder of a new Jurchen dynasty, Zhao lead the 1916 revolution to victory, proclaiming the Second Jurchen Republic.

He served as the Republic's President for the remainder of his life, winning reelection once in 1919 before dying. Upon his death, his successor was ousted from power by the military, leading to the 1921 revolution against the junta and the proclamation of the Jurchen Socialist Commonwealth, founded on Marxist-Zhaoism ideas and a successor to the Second Republic.

It has come to my notice, that according to general Mundus history, the first successful state is established in the early 1700s, suggesting that socialism exists in the 17th century.
Assuming that the industrial revolution took place at the same time period as it did irl, socialism, an ideology that emerged as a result of factory-wage labour, appears before the causes that caused it to emerge irl.
If we want to make other comparisons, the first successful liberal state (a decidedly less radical ideology) only emerged in the mid 1700s.
Put simply, the timescale for socialism as an ideology makes very little sense and has complicated implications.
My suggestion is thus that the birth of socialism is pushed back to the 1820s, with the first socialist state emerging no time before the 1840s.
These numbers are below what I'd like, but I wish to avoid complicating any historical revisions that will undoubtedly need to take place.

Date:- 29th of January, 2023
Topic:- The title of the Kingdom
Ruling King:- Stefan Basil IV

FROM THE DESK OF THE KING:

The Kingdom of Niš gets its name from the City of Niš, the current capital of the Kingdom and also where it was proclaimed during the troubled days of the collapse of the region. However, the name is outdated, the Kingdom has evolved past the original concept proclaimed within that city.
In addition, there is often bureaucratic confusion over the two; more than once a document has had to be entirely redone due to a failure in misunderstanding over the two entities.
As such, the Kingdom shall be renamed to bring the country more into the modern date; in addition, the flag shall be redesigned.
The House of Barons shall work together with leaders of the public, members of the Church and members of the military to come up with new suggestions, which shall be approved by me.
The change should come into affect by the end of the year.

Grand Cataism WIP

Grand Cataism revolves around the worship of the omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent god Catai, who created the universe and mostly resides within the centre of the universe, around half a kilometre above the peak of Mount Hamid. He is often referred to as Grand Catai as a distinction between Old Catai worship.
Catai is commonly associated with the god of Abraham, and the Heavenly Emperor himself considers Catai to be that same God. Grand Cataists claim that their faith is in fact the original faith of Abraham, with the promised land being the prophesied centre of the universe, more specifically Mount Hamid, though they reject the notion this land was promised only to the jews.
Grand Cataists believe that upon the securing of Mount Hamid, Catai appointed the leader of the Caitists at that time as the Supreme Heavenly Emperor over Mount Hamid, and thus the rightful ruler of all the universe under Catai. The Heavenly Emperor acts as the head of the Grant Catai faith, and directs its doctrines, spread and practical worship. They are supported by a clerical hierarchy, who run the day to day services. Priests can be either men or women.
Grand Cataists are forbidden from eating pork or consuming dairy from cattle. It is thought of as unclean to consume either of those foods, and damages both the physical and spiritual wellbeing of oneself. Caffeinated drinks are looked down on, but not explicitly banned, and the displeasure towards them rises and falls over time.

The Seven tenants of the Grand Catai Faith
The Grand Catai Faith considers seven central tenants of the faith, which all have to follow.
Veracity in speech and the truthfulness of the tongue.
Protection and mutual aid to the brethren in faith.
Renunciation of all forms of former worship and false belief.
Repudiation of the devil , and all forces of evil.
Confession of Catai's unity and strength.
Acquiescence in Catai's acts no matter what they be.
Absolute submission and resignation to Catai's divine will in both secret and public.

The Nature of Grand Catai
Grand Catai is both a transcendent and immanent being, present everywhere and at the same time entirely concentrated at Mound Hamid. Catai is entirely separate from any attributes that can be ascribed to Him. He is all powerful, all knowing and all loving, not by power, knowledge or love, but because He is Catai. Catai in this way is not beyond reality or existence, but is rather the entirely of existence, being because He is, rather than because He is ascribed traits.
Catai however also exists at the same time in existence itself, concentrated at the centre of the universe, Mount Hamid, though Catai's influence is not restricted to Mount Hamid.

Life after Death, or the lack thereof
After death, ones soul is reincarnated into a new, human body. This is because the soul, a transcendent part of one's self heavily tied to Catai cannot survive without the body, its tether to the mortal world. The soul and the body, in this way, exist as two parts of a human, material and spiritual, linking humans intrinsically to Catai's nature as both a transcendent and immanent being.
Souls have genders (man and woman are the most common, but there exists a potentially endless amount of different genders) and will try to reincarnate into a body matching that gender, but will not always succeed. However, as a general rule, men will reincarnate into men and women will incarnate into women.
In addition, the number of souls that exist are finite, they cannot be divided and will continuously recycle through life and death. The only way to escape this cycle is to live several successive and pious lives, and then dying on Mount Hamid. The soul will then cease to exist, becoming part of the combined Cosmic Mind, which will eventually become Adem.

The creation of the material universe.
The Material Universe has always existed and will continue without end. However, the Practical Universe (that is the universe as man can comprehend  it) only came into existence relatively recently, and was created by Catai, with the first human, Adem, being created from mud (the name Adem literally translates to "made from the Earth").
Adem is simultaneously both the first and last human. It was Adem's loss of innocence that created the first woman, Eve, and thus the rest of humanity, his actions creating all the souls of humanity. However, as humanity gradually stops reincarnating, as more and more souls cease existence and the Cosmic Mind grows larger, Adem's soul will be the last human still walking the Earth. As Adem dies for the last time, the Cosmic Mind will be absorbed into Adem's soul, which will then return to its creator, returning all the souls of man to Catai.

The nature of evil
Evil exists not because of Catai, but because of man. Humans, whilst part of the universe and subservient to Catai have free will to act in an evil manner. What is evil or not is laid down through Divine Command Theory laid down in the Yarik (pronounced Tar-ike).

Prophets
Prophets are humans chosen by Catai to deliver a message directly to man, and is divided into three sub-categories: the prophet themselves, their followers and the witnesses of their messages. Whilst there are many lesser prophets, major prophets come in groups of 5 at a time.

Religious Symbols
Cataists generally do not use religious symbols or iconography, being limited to Star of Man.
Each point of the star represents a "limit", one of the differences that separates humans from animals.
Green: The Mind
Red: The Soul
Yellow: The Word
Blue: The Past
White: The Future
The mind generates experiences and gives consciousness. The soul embodies the mind and is responsible for transmigration and the character of oneself. The word, which is the atom of language, communicates experiences between humans and represents the platonic forms in the sensible world. The Past and Future is the ability to perceive and learn from the past and plan for the future and predict it.

The Great Migration

The Yrali people originated from the North-West of Arayne, with a distinct Yralian culture first emerging in the 2nd Century. Many non-Hamidian Yralians can still be found across North-Western Arayne, though rarely in communities the size as can be found in the Hamidian Empire.

The Yralians initially worshipped a pantheon of pagan gods, revering a omnipotent but absent creator god known as Catai (Kath-ay) supported by a dozen or so lesser gods. Worship usually focused around animal sacrifices in exchange for luck or other divine boons, and the creation of bone iconography to court the favour of a god. The religion, known today as Old Cataism (Kath-ay-ism) was hardly unified, with the only common factor being the reverence of Catai. At some point in the 8th century however, a strain of Cataism began to develop, likely due to increased influence from Abrahamic faiths, that saw Catai become associated with the God of Abraham, the faith swivelling to monotheism. This strain would become known as Grand Cataism.

Grand Cataism spread amongst the Old Catai, however remained a minority. Near the middle of the 9th century, the exact date is still disputed by Grand Cataist scholars, the centre of the universe, where Catai was said to primarily reside, manifested just above the peak of Mount Hamid, the modern capital of the Hamidian Empire. Worshippers of Grand Catai were said to be able to see the mountain in their dreams, and a great migration started. Though disorganised at first, the migration gradually clumped together, and rival factions and dynasties formed amongst them. Eventually, crossing the continent, the main bulk of the migrants reached the mountain by the end of the 10th century, though most had perished amongst the way.

Ruling King:- Stefan Basil IV

FROM THE DESK OF THE KING:

I have never been too much of a fan of the green agenda. Though I can see that due to the finite limit of fossil fuels upon our Mundus means we will eventually have to branch out to other methods of energy production, I disagreed with the idea that the transition was something to rush.
However, in stark contrast to the policy of myself and several other respectable leaders, was the policies of Rokkenjima. From granting the right to vote (as much as that right matters in Rokkenjima) to animals, the mass promotion of green energy, attempts to monopolise the nuclear energy scene and their  mindless consumption of the "alternative" their scientists produced to organic cattle products, Rokkenjima has always been regarded by the more level-headed thinkers of our world to be the example of what not to do in the green transition.
Now, however, it appears that Rokkenjima has startlingly gone back on its green outlook, attempting to undercut the prices of OPEN.
I will not claim to be an expert in the environmental scientists, but what I do know, combined with my knowledge of basic economics, alerts me to a blatantly obvious problem. By entering a price war with OPEN, Rokkenjima pushes the price down, encouraging the greater use of fossil fuels. This result could not have been missed by the Rokkenjiman government either, it was, after all, a blatantly obvious and inevitable outcome. So it leads me to wonder why Rokkenjima followed this course of action, with only two possibilities sticking out to me.
Either the Rokkenjiman government was entirely incompetent, only being in the positions they are know so they could act as useless yes-men to the Empress; or that the Rokkenjiman Empress is a janus, who seeing an opportunity for a quick cash, went back on her "beliefs" in the pursuit of mindless material wealth. Neither reflects well on Rokkenjima.
I, the King of Nis, call on the Rokkenjiman government to halt this foolish attempt to undercut OPEN, if you wish to retain any trust the people had in you to stick to your convictions, and stay the course.

The streets ran red.

There was something symbolic in that. A state that proudly proclaimed itself red, socialist beyond all measure, had dyed itself in its own citizens blood. The Poet had watched from their usual perch on the roof of the church as the conflict between the black and the blue had spiralled itself into a gruesome orgy.

It was even representative of the whole country, perhaps. One side waving its authority, one side refusing said authority and one side bringing the weighed club of authority over the heads of the other. They weren't too sure about that metaphor. Maybe a bit too long. Was it even a metaphor?

Either way, it didn't really matter. Nothing really mattered since Comrade Tito had died. Perhaps that was the better metaphor -or was it an analogy?. Severrusavia was rotting just as Tito's was. Just last week Blitkentia had refused to hand over the Yellow Sixteen to the Feds, a move unprecedented. Nobody was really sure where the Yellow Sixteen had gotten their name, the Poet assume that they must have had yellow ancestry, maybe Rokkenjima?

They paused. Getting off track was something that they shouldn't be doing. Poetry was all they had left now, and poetry was the most beautiful thing in the world, more beautiful than the dove or the...

That one needed some work. The dove or the what? Thinking about it, maybe a sunset would be better than a dove?

The Poet frowned. Something was off. Something important. Their prose was lacking greatly, their usual artistic skill had great holes in it, much like the bullet holes dotted around the square.

Thinking about that, why was it called a square? It was more rectangle shaped than a square, and even then, its more of a pentagon because of that corner there. Anyway, where were they?

Oh yes, red streets, red in blood, the blood that ran beneath the church, the church on which sprawled the Poet. The Poet frowned again. Something was certainly wrong, they realised. Not in the "square" beneath them. The bodies lying there had been there since the Blacks opened up last night. Protest met with gunfire. How the situation had deteriorated. But the Poet's thoughts were getting off track again.

What is wrong with me? Something, surely. It just happened again?

The Poet realised, with a sinking feeling, what was wrong.

The perspective of my prose keeps changing.

They began to laugh, not that its much of a laugh. More a chocking cough. God this is embarrassing.

The Poets eyes idly drifted around the church roof. Home to so many good memories, so many composed poets. My blood, much like the sunset, is bleeding onto the streets. The red sun, and the red blood. That needs some work.

The Poet was amazed, that, despite the blood around Them and the gunfire that had streaked the church roof, they hadn't been hit. But of course I'm lying to myself. The Poet was dying. Maybe their prose reflected that. Something poetic in there. Maybe I can work with that.

The Poet's final thoughts were to end their prose on a high note. Maybe something like looking back on their life, the good and the bad. The love and the hate. Maybe ev

Press Offices / A Warning
« on: September 02, 2022, 10:57:14 PM »
Date:- 2nd of September, 2022
Topic:- A Warning
Ruling King:- Stefan Basil IV

FROM THE DESK OF THE KING:

The situation in Eigg has forced me to make several reflections on our nations own pass. Much like Federation and the Kingdom, Severrusavia was supposed was supposed to be greater than the some of its parts. However, due to mismanagement, disastrous socialist policies, the federation would eventually collapse into ethnic conflicts and warring states, a situation that lasted over a decade and was only alleviated by the unification under my grandfather's Kingdom. These conflicts claimed thousands of lives, and the scars inflicted on the worst affected areas of the country can still be seen today. It is the greatest regret of many men that they failed to stop the conflict.
However, it didn't have to be that way. The situation arose over a failure from both sides, from the federal government and the constituent nations, to adapt to the changing world. Nevsky, seeing the changing winds of history and realising that socialism was a failed and dying ideology, should have guided the country away from it, and towards the future. As history will tell you, however, he failed to do this.
In turn, the constituent nations and their governments shouldn't have shaken the foundations of the federation. The right for a man to fight for God, his nation and for his family is a sacred right. Yet, those that fought the Black Games fought in turn against their own nation, for by paralysing the federation they paralysed themselves.
Severrusavia was a union without God and without wealth. Yet, it was not a union without hope. The Federal Socialist United Republic was doomed to fail, as socialism itself will inevitably strangle any who adopts it, yet Severrusavia could have remained, and perhaps flourished. Yet we can never know. All history knows is the millions of voices, crying out as brother fought brother in the fields and streets of the failed Severrusavia.

It is thus that I issue a warning, from a country born from the embers of a failed union, to the Federation of Dál Riata and the Kingdom of Eigg, for those that do not heed history's warning are doomed to repeat the failures of the path. Only through working together can you flourish, a simple message, but an important one. Pragmatism and compromise will reap the benefits of the future. If Eigg must be free, let it! The rift between your peoples will only increase if the wishes of both are not respected. But, I plead to Eigg, do not paralyse the federation in response to the actions by said federation. Hostility will only breed hostility. Be civil! The clenched fist is only blessed by the Lord if action cannot be achieved with the outstretched hand. The federation, if wise and educated in history's lesson, will make concessions. If not, they have failed to adapt and history will claim them. After all, life does not forgive weakness.

Anton Kynev, Royal Diplomat, stood waiting at the steps of the White Palace. The King was busy, occupied with personal business that had left Kynev as his representative in this occasion. He had spent the week going over the history and culture of Chistopol, after all, he didn't wish to self-sabotage the talks by accidentally causing offence. He was tall, squarish, with a heavy brow and dark hair.

As the Chistopolian delegation drove into the driveway of the White Palace, he straightened his tie. They stepped out the car, and Kynev walked forwards to greet them.

He shook firmly the hand of the prince and then of the First Minister Laine. Though he had no grievances with public servants, royalty always came first in the order of respect he offered.

"I hope the trip over was not unpleasant? Would refreshments be agreeable, or would you prefer to get into discussions immediately?"

Niš: 5; Mundus: 2
The sports teams the motherland sent to the Mundus Games have produced excellent results.
Winning five of the initial events (and only losing two), the Niš Mundus Games Team seems set to carry home a bountiful sack of medals this year. The Eight Eagles (The Niš National Football Team) defeated handily the East Morelandish in the football, winning four-two. In addition, the Nišlija Hockey Team (made up predominatly of Slovenački players) obliterated the opposing Rokkenjiman Team, winning five-one. Our first taste of defeat came at the hands of the Iwi, who beat our volleyball team. Don't worry boys, you'll get them next year! Our second defeat came at the hands of Lijiang, beating us in men's badmington doubles. However, our woman's team managed to resoundingly beat Seaforth in the badmington women's doubles event, so the hopes for a badmington medal is not yet lost. Pool may be a simple game, but in the Mundus games it is a sport of breathtaking suspense and anticipation. The anticipation was, however, met, when we once again beat Seaforth. Our final victory came in the final sport of the day, beating Vinitsia at the Men's Cricket, meaning our team advances into the semi-finals.

Good luck teams!

King to study at the Grand City University
The King has announced his intention to study Forensic Science at the University of the Grand City of Niš.
This will mark a new historical bookmark in the Kingdom's history, with King Basil becoming the first King of Niš to study in the country itself, after his father and grandfather studied abroad due to their exile. The King has also announced his intention to spend a year studying in our southern neighbour Samantra, taking advantage of the Emerald Concordant he helped conspire to allow him to experience the fine culture and atmosphere of Samantra. The King is expected to continue his royal duties, however has implied that a regency during examination seasons shouldn't be unexpected.

[An Except from the Speech: "Man Eats Man", by Alex Kremil]

1981, 26th of December.

"I have been instructed to read this disclaimer before I begin to speak today," said guest speaker Alex Kremil, "that the views I voice here are not necessarily the views of the University of Belgrade. Anyways, I have discovered over my long career and long life, that man eats man. Not in the way I am sure many of you are thinking, not cannibalism. Instead, I am talking about war. You see, a man is never at peace. Never. He is always in conflict with something else, another element of human society usually, but sometimes something else. Human society is a society of constant conflict, each man at the end looking out for themselves, and only themselves, regardless of who they have to, metaphorically, eat.

This conflict of human society mirrors that of nature's society. Just as animals must feast upon each other to survive in their society, so must we to survive in our own. Though we don't eat the flesh of those we overcome, no. We feast on finer things, their very spirit. A business man who engineers the failure of his rival's business has overcome his foe. He has reaped the rewards, the wealth, the prestige, the delicious taste of victory. The rival though, he receives none of that. The only outcomes he gets to taste is failure. Angry, spiteful, crushed, the winner has taken part of their foe's very soul.

This is not the only way that our society mimics nature's. Clear groups dominate both. There is the prey, and the predators. Those that are superior in navigating society, and those that are inferior. As Darwin discovered, only the fittest survive. In that way, the distinct races of the world have found ways to adapt and thrive in our society. Some are the lions, the apex predators, who are adapted to perfectly emerge on top. Some are the birds, who are adapted to surviving all society can throw at them, there until the end. Some are the rodents, so insignificant that they can scuttle about without fear, for there is no point in hunting them, they contribute nothing but also take nothing. There are the gazelle, strong enough to fight and win against even a lion, but too timid to go out of their way to directly confront them. And then there are the locus. Parasites, who contribute nothing yet take everything, with too many of them to ever wipe all of the out.

I likely do not need to say who these parallel to. There are many parasites in our society, who will perish at the single roar of a lion, but there are more parasites than lions. And the world refuses to tackle these parasites. 'Adapt and live, cries human society, or remain unchanged and die.' We need to adapt once again to the new circumstances of the world. We can no longer ignore the parasites. To do so would be to invite the death of all the lions of society, the masters of it.

The world can do several things to tackle this threat. Removing the parasites from the rest of human society, and moving them to their home continent, Ardia. But I am getting ahead of myself. The situation at home should be addressed first, before we go international. There is a clear and simple to see divide in our little corner of society. The Basnions are the parasites of Niš. This is a controversial fact, I know. But it is of vital importance for the health of the Kingdom. The King, bless his soul, should recognise the inherent error in allowing the Basnions to cling onto our society. I advise an immediate and quick removal of the Basnion people to a place better suited for them, Rokkenjima maybe. But, if that proves to be too difficult, a complete purge of them should be on the cards.

Because, put simply, it is a measure that should have been considered a long time ago. We have allowed it to fester. When a building has a termite infection, you remove it as soon as possible. Leaving it risks having the whole building collapse."

Vignettes / Who dunnit attempt
« on: July 19, 2022, 10:10:37 PM »

Greetings and salutations.

I, Geo the first and last, am currently planning to attempt a whodunnit rp, in which characters will attempt to find out who killed the murder victim. If you are interested, and have an idea of what character you want to rp, please PM me either on the forum or on discord, so that we can discuss how you will slot into the mystery.

There is a very real chance that this will take quite a while to plan, so if you forget about it, I may suddenly remind you at some point in time.
