The Queen's Invitational Polo Tournament is one of the highlights of the Lodjain social calender. Teams from across the Queendom compete to win invites along with various invitational teams, this year including one from Némérie following an invite issued by Queen Viktoria during her visit there, this invite being honoured by Queen Klara.

The tournament win see two groups, each team playing the other three in their group during Day 1. On the 2nd day of the tournament the Top 2 teams from each group will play for the Queen's Cup, while the bottom two for the Queen's Shield. The event also features many oppurtunities for networking and socialisation.

OOC- Everyone is invited, you can send someone official if you like or just a fan. If you want you can have someone from your team in one of the two Invitational Teams.

Duke Thikon had been given the honour of captaining the Queen's team, the only ones permitted to wear blue and gold colours, remanisant of the Queen's own dress. He had arrived at the Gaia Equestrian Centre where the tournament was to take place. A vast expanse of rolling fields with complexes for showjumping, dressage and most importantly polo fields. Crisp white marquee style tents lined the sides of the pitches, some for the teams to relax in between games, others providing dining oppurtunities or even just bars stocked with all manner of drinks. Thikon had played here once before, he'd been part of the Isle of Tar team two years ago as an unused substitute. It didn't matter as it was good enough just to be seen here as to actually play. Already some four hours before the first game the odd pony was being trotted around by some members of vairous teams and crowds where beginning to gather. Thikon had found their teams tent and was busy changing when a voice announced the arrival of the Queen. "Your Divine Majesty" Thikon bowed as he finished pulling on his shirt.

"Duke Thikon" Klara looked around the tent where several others now noticing her arrival stood. "I just wanted to wish you all good luck and that I expect victory or else" she had a stern look on her face and several team members looked nervous, suddenly Klara burst out laughing, "No seriously I hope you win but I want you to simply play hard, play fair and enjoy yourselves. Her eyes cast towards the back of the tent where Dragan Knežević, her finance minister stood shirtless unsure if it would be seen impolite to continue his preparations. He'd been asked to play for the Queen, ignored for selection by Besarain the leader of the Conclave but he wasn't really bothered, he just enjoyed the game. "Nice to see you Minister" Klara smiled and left followed by Lady Anna Immich and Lady Roksana Pajari, two of her Ladies in Waiting. Once outside she made her way to the tent where they were serving breakfast and ordered a poached egg on toast. "Minister Knežević is single isn't he?" Klara asked, and noticed Roksana look concerned, the two had become bed fellows since the coronation and now the Queen seeming to show interest in someone else worried her.

"Yes Ma'am" Anna said as she poured the Queen a cup of coffee.

"And he isn't actually a Lord in his own right is he?" Klara asked again, she was still getting her head around all the affairs of who was who in court.

"No Ma'am, his elder brother holds the family titles." Anna explained.

"Hmmm....so not that eligable....we may have to do something about that" she smiled at Roksana noticing a slight jealousy in her lovers face but not really caring. The tent was filling up slowly with various players, government officials and the wealthy of Lodja.

Duchess Ekaterina Stasiuk sat in one corner keen to see who of note would arrive. She'd just become the Mother in Law of the King of Royal Seleucid, a man nearly thirty years older than her, a thought that amused her. She found events like this always one worth attending however. She'd meet the first of her two husbands here and that had been a very profitable arrangment for both of them.

Adelheid had ensured she got a plane this time, and not wasting half a week again floating half across the globe. Spotting a reasonable sized hat, she made her way to the Breakfast tent with a confident smile. A short tweet to her social accounts #StillSingle as she took her hat off, and performed a an elegant curtsy to the Queen, before elegantly placing her hat back on the Spot:

"Your Majesty, what a delightful event" she said, before allowing herself to take a less centered stance, she glanced at the sovereign, though she couldn't quite place where he belonged to. Most people where hard to read, except the woman in the corner. She knew from Albrecht she'd had to treat about that one. Sold her own daughter like chattel to Akainos. Adelheid almost shuddered at the thought before putting her smile back on.

She decided to just do a short curtsy, shorter than to the queen, in the Mans direction, and stay silent.

Crown Princess Serenity Azurewind wasn't much of a polo fan but she was a bit of a horse fan, given that the entire family loved horse riding her Dad was a Mundus Games gold medallist in three day eventing and the individual cross country. She'd been in Lodja for the summit on adjusting the Mundus Convention on Universal Rights after which she'd needed a break so she'd hung around in Lodja for a bit and had been joined by her eldest daughter, six year old Lisa, the girl still new to the idea of being a Princess. They were being shown around the venue by the Achkaerinese ambassador to Lodja Emalet Silvermist who'd been talking non stop about life in the Palace of the Goddess.

"Those are impressive animals." Serenity said as she watched some of the players warm up their horses by giving them a runout, the gentle breeze billowing out her leather jacket, it wasn't much but it helped keep her warm enough, she doubted her red t-shirt would otherwise be enough, she glanced at Lisa making a note to introduce her to horse riding when she got home, though she also knew it might well be three of them along for the ride. She found her way to the tent where the other dignitaries were gathering.

"Your Divine Majesty, Prince Souverain, Your Highness." Serenity said, mentally ticking each one off in her head, greeting each one with the appropriate ritual motion "I must complement both the Lodjans and the Nemerian's on their horses they are fine specimens from what I can see and I look forward to an excellent day of activity."

Klara noted the tent beginning to fill up and as she'd expected a few foreign guests wandered into view. She had Anna whisper to her that Prince Souverain had entered the tent and that he had been invited by Viktoria, little facts like this were useful and it was Anna's job to make sure that her Queen knew them. "Welcome to Lodja Your Highness" Anna address Prince Louis as he approached. She glanced round at Klara who gave a nod well aware of what Anna was checking, "Her Divine Majesty would like to know if you'd care to join us for breakfast" Anna motioned to one of the empty chairs and waited for the Prince to be sat before taking her own seat again. A young man dressed in a crisp white jacket, a neat linen cloth drapped over his arm approached and laid out neatly a fresh set of plates, cutlary and other such items before pouring the Prince a glass of water, using the cloth to delicately wipe the water from the spout of the jug before placing it on the table. He waited patiently for the Prince to order before diappearing off to make sure a breakfast was provided.

"Welcome to Lodja" the Queen added, "How do you think your team shall fare?" She asked having little idea about the game of polo herself but realising it was a major part of the nations Patrician social life and therefore now had to be important to her.

The next to arrive was Adelheid, Klara vaguely remembered her from the coronation but that had been such a whirlwind that she couldn't remember everyones names, thankfully Anna whispered once more in her ear. "Ah, you're friends with Lady Stasya aren't you, well a friend of my Ladies is a friend of Lodja. Take a seat please" she motioned for the Princess (?) to take a seat and join them as Anna introduced her formally to Louis. The waiter in the white coat came and repeated his ritual before heading back once more from whence he'd came. "I understand you and Lady Stasya had been talking fashion shows?" Klara asked having caught up on various gossip thanks to Roksana's pillow talk. "How about we make an interesting wager, I know Lady Stasya has rather a large social media following in the fashion world, rightly so she's stylish, beautiful and if the rumours are true the object of a King's affection. My invitational team against any of the others, maybe Prince Louis' here may do for you?" Klara smiled, "If they finish higher than my team then I send you Lady Stasya to work at your fashion event in whatever capacity you see fit. If I win however you have to commission one of your designers to make me something special. How does that sound?" Klara had no idea whether it had been a wise move but it wasn't exactly a wager that would bankrupt the Queendom so what did it matter, it was just some fun with someone she believed may be useful to Lodja in the future.

Finally Serenity approached with Emalet, someone Klara was more familar with. "Nice to see you again Your Highness" Klara waited for the Princess to finish before greeting her. "Well I'm no horse expert myself" Klara replied, "But thanks to my pre-decessors interest in horses the royal stables is filled with some beautiful, and I am told well bred, horses. Fingers crossed it means their half decent out there." The silent white coated waiter was back diligently making sure everyone was prepared for breakfasts that would now be served any moment. "You have any Achkaerin nationals competing, members of Lady Emalet's staff perhaps? How are you finding life on the Isle?" Klara asked the ambassador just as their breakfasts arrived.

"And it's nice to you again as well Your Divine Majesty." Serenity said smiling

"It's a quite unique place and life there provides unique challenges." Emalet said answering the question while Serenity sorted Lisa's breakfast out "It provides for diplomatic duty but also permits me time to have the balance to keep my life going in the direction I'd like it to and learning about another culture is always something to be encouraged. One of my staff is I believe competing on your Divine Majesty's invitational team, Deborah Thornton, she's getting some experience on her gap year in terms of politics and the work environment. It's one of several Achkaerinese youth program's in that it aim's to encourage young people to get life experience while deciding on on what is for many of our citizens a very critical decision at a very critical time in their lives - to continue in education or to go the apprenticeship and employment route."

Adelheid smiled warmly, if not a bit sly: "Oh, in this case i would love to bet on the Sovereign's Team. We both win either Way, really."

Tilting her head slightly, she smiled: "I had really just asked Stasya to spread the word of the event, it's nothing to fixed yet. It's really hard to get my Nation and fashion under the same hat, but the idea was to get our idealism and fashion together, create something unseen yet." Adelheid trailed around slightly, raising an eyebrow as she looked to the ladies in waiting: "It's still officially unannounced, but i am almost certain Lodja might have a bit of a Head start now. How about i inform my social Media accounts of this little Wager, would you be alright with that?"
Before she slipped a quick Picture selfie with the Prince Sovereign onto her Phone. #BettingOnHisHorses

"... And so, remember to play fair and safe but of course don't be in the last place. Understood?"  Rodigar Laxamano, ambassador of Quintelia to Lodjia said tio the only official polo team in Quintelia. Although a Lodjian Court member, he would be staying in his room until ordered by the king or foreign minister to do something or need to eat. The night before, he  received a message from Sofia that he needs to have the Quintelian Polo Team to be part of the competition. Along with it were additional instructions. "Yes sir." The team unanimously replied as they went on with what they were doing. Rodigar, also called Rodge, went straight to where Queen Klara was. He joined the crowd of envoys and waited for the others to finish before saying. "What a nice setup here, your Majesty. I'm Rodigar, if you haven't known yet hahaha. If I may ask, where can I have my team signed up?"

Adelheid smiled, packing her phone back away: "You would just have to tell the Designers some little extras. We are a quite eccentric nation when it comes to ecologicality. And the Senates don't like walking Sticks. They should keep that in mind."

She twirled back looking at her shoes: "I'd love to, but i'd need other shoes and i do not have a spare pair ready. These aren't made for dancing"

Adelheid smiled, then glanced around. She knew there where some fish to be caught in this pond, knowing some Lodjians where still unmarried as well. Maybe she even got a new pair of shoes if any of these men caught what she just said. Why pay for something when men buy it for you?

Klara's breakfast arrived followed in short order by the others. "Well this Miss Thornton, if she is someone that you trust then we are happy to help her gain some experience. After this weekend we'll have a Conclave meeting, please have her arrive at my rooms 9am prompt, she can accompany my Ladies and me and see what goes on there. I believe it will make her the first Achkaerin citizen to sit in on a Conclave meeting which should be quiet the thing to put on a CV" Klara carefully pierced the first of her pair of eggs allowing the yolk to ooze its way out and begin soaking into the toast. She listened to Adelheid drop some hints to the Nemerian Prince or anyone else around the table, it made the young Queen smile, clearly this Princess had a touch of Lodjian in her, or perhaps she'd simply become too friendly with Stasya.

As for the Quintelian team this was going to be awkward, but Klara understood at times there was a need to think quickly. "Unfortuantly Ambassador Laxamano the tournament format means we can not register another team now. I will however ensure next year your team are among the first, what I can do however is ensure your players don't have a wasted trip. So howabout we split your players among the other teams as a sort of "guest" player, and then whoever wins the tournament plays Quintelia in a kind of extra game, like a friendly international or something. It'd be a nice way of your players to get to make some Lodjain friends and they get a good warm up before a game?" She hoped she'd not cause offence to the visitors but there wasn't much they could do.

The tent was filling up now, members of various teams filled the tent, a few clearly taking the day more seriously than others as a handful could be seen enjoying champagne and orange juice with their breakfasts, meanwhile Duke Thikon who would be captaining the Queen's team was wandering around chatting with a fine white china tea cup. He spotted the Queen and her group before making his way over, he bowed and then followed suit with the foreign guests. He took a seat between Adelheid and Emalet. "This gentleman is the captain of my team, Duke Thikon, I believe some of you may have meet him before, he was due to marry Queen Viktoria's sister Alana, but we recently had to cancel that arrangement. Alana isn't really ready for a marriage." Klara explained.

"I think she may still be a little wordly naive" Thikon said with a sympathetic smile, "She may have studied across Mundus....if I recall rightly I think she event spent some time in Achkaerin" he waved a dismissive hand as though it wasn't important to the point he was making, "But she was kind of kept from seeing the world outside of palaces and boarding schools, I think if your going to marry then you need to see a little of the world before doing so, get the wanderlust out of your bones so to speak." He finished his tea and motioned for one of his staff to come over, he carefully wiped the cup before handing it the man who carefully wrapped it in a cloth before disappearing off. "I always find here they serve tea in god awful glasses or mass produced cups, there is nothing better than a nice cup of tea served in fine china" he said as if to explain the scene that had just unfolded. He looked like he was about to speak again before an announcement interupted him. The Queen's team where about to play the City of Gaia and so Thikon would have to leave.

"Duke" Klara stood as he did so, "Seeing as you carry the responsibility of my good name" she chuckled permit me to wish you luck" she kissed him on the cheek and then motioned for Lady Roksana who handed her a blue and gold scarft, " A token of our wishes" she handed the scarf to him.

"I pray it brings us luck" he bowed, "Enjoy your day everyone" he said with a sweeping bow to the Queen's guests before heading off to prepare for the start of the match.

"If anyone cares to watch my all conquering heroes you're free to join me" the Queen said with a broad smile before she made her way out and into a shaded box of seats reserved for the Queen and her guests, she got settled down and watched as the other bench seats around the large field began to fill.

Serenity had to half smile when Alana was mentioned, it was true that the Lodjan had spent some time in Achkaerin mainly talking history and sport with her father on a visit that had established a relationship between the two nations. Sipping some orange juice Serenity turned her attention to where the players were warming up and there among them was Deborah Thornton, her mother was the day to day person in charge of the Military Defence Initiative, her father was the Speaker of the Senate but Deborah herself was just a young girl trying to settle on what she was going to do in the future. She was making sure the blue top she was wearing wasn't inhibiting her movement.

"Deborah." Serenity said "Her Majesty Queen Klara would like you to make yourself available at her rooms in the Palace at nine in the morning after this weekend."
"She's inviting you to sit in on a Conclave meeting." Emalet said "And it's probably the best experience you could hope for." Deborah looked at Emalet, recognizing the significance of the opportunity.
"It would be an honour to attend." Deborah said

"Fine looking horse." Serenity said noting the white mare that Deborah had with her
"Thank you Your Highness." Deborah said
"What's she called?" Serenity asked
"Jaycee." Deborah said, she looked around it was just about time to mount up "Any advice?"
"Have fun." Emalet said
"Sure thing Stardust." Deborah said, Emalet rolled her eyes at her nickname.

Adelheid watched the duke, he sure had a nack for the finer things in life, but his act irked her. Way to stuck in the clouds and not down on earth at all. Not Exactly a good marriage candidate for.

with a lengthy sigh she entered the Watching box, glaring around the playfield. Bessarian seemed like an interesting one, but she wasn't sure either of them would benefit from a joined venture.

"Our Palace used to have stables, but they got moved out of the Perimeter when they weren't pivotal for transportation anymore. Did the Island of the Godess have a stable?" she asked, as they waited for the Games to beginn.

Adelheid nodded slowly to the Prince while her thoughts circled around his behavior.

'He is Overly obsessed with food', was the thought crossing her mind.

She recomposed, sipping Organic Jasmin Tea, as she answered to the Prince Souverain: "Oh i am sure Nemerie would be interested. We are a bit of a Picky Nation. The way Goods are Transported is equally Important to the way they have been made. We do not accept Produce as organic when it has been shipped with heavy Oil Tankers, just as example. There is a decent amount of Pitfalls with us, and if you don't take the time at least trying to understand us beforehand, you would find your propositions shelved and forgotten by the Senates rather quickly."

Things had just got a little awkward, to date only one foreigner had ever sat in a full meeting of the Conclave and that was the King of East Moreland, and only then when it seemed Lodja was plunging into chaos after the assassination of Queen Viktoria. Klara had always intended Lodja to be more open but the Conclave was still its inner most government, it was one thing to invite Deborah Thornton to sit in as she was a nobody, a young Achkaerin with no real knowledge of global politics or the inner workings of a government, on the other hand Louis was a visiting Head of State, allowing him to sit in would make a dangerous precident. "My apologise Your Highness" Klara began to explain, "The Conclave chamber is not the most spacious of places, nowhere except the throne room and ballroom is really on the Isle of the Goddess, by the time you've squeezed the Ministers, my Ladies in Waiting and the Priestesses in we'll struggle to even get Miss Thornton in, and we meet Monday and then not for several days as I travel on business of state" she explained, "I think you'll be gone by the time I return?" she hoped to have politley put him off, "Maybe some other time, maybe once I've reshuffled my Ministers" she noticed a suddenly concerned look on Besarian's face, "Oh don't worry, I'd not get rid of you." She placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "I hear you've been doing a good job these last few years, if its not broke don't fix it" she smiled warmly at the Lord of the Conclave, effectively the nations Prime Minister, "Beside I think it'd upset Jasmina too much" Klara watched the Lady in Waiting turn bright red while Besarian just smiled uncaring if people knew about their relationship. "I do however need to introduce some new faces, new positions even" Again Besarian was rather surprised, the Conclave hadn't changed numbers in centuries and he wondered what his Queen was up to.

Klara next turned to Adelheid as the teams began to take the field. "The Isle still has a small stable for the royal horses, I think though Viktoria didn't like riding so the horses were kept in Gaia itself, I'm not much of a great horseman but I do like the idea of riding along the beach when the tides out so I might have one horse brought over......maybe two so they don't get lonely." She mused more to herself than her guest. "I think one day it would be rather sweet to ride the beach at night with either my husband or wife.....who knows get three horses and one of each" she chuckled to herself and then instantly went silent unsure of her guests nations views on her open bisexuality.

The game had begun and the ground shook with the hooves of the horses charging up and down the field. A large crowd had turned out and while it lacked the rowdiness one may associate with many sports the crowd where loudly appreciative of the skill on display. Players were applauded for their efforts and the goals of both sides greeted with polite cheers. The game was 2-2 with only a few minutes left on the clock when Duke Thikon chased after the ball and his horse and that of an opposition player collided, the young Duke was thrown from the saddle and landed heavily leading Klara to gasp out loud. "Somebody go check he's OK" she turned and instructed Lady Anna as the Duke lay unmoved as the other players did their best to gather his riderless horse and lead it clear, one of them sliding from the saddle to sooth the beast while another checked that it was unhurt. As Anna made her way under the barriers and onto the pitch several members of the medical staff had already got onto the pitch. Klara was stood her hand over her mouth as she watched, it took a few moments but Thikon got back up, he was a little dazed but unhurt, he'd fallen from horses many times in his life and figured he'd just been lucky once more. Klara began clapping and those around her did and soon the crowd joined in, Thikon began limping from the field as his horse was brought to him, he took it by the reigns and seemed to be chastising it as he waved to the crowd in thanks for their concern. Anna returned and ducked under the barrier.

"Your Divine Majesty" Anna addressed her sovereign, "The doctors think he's just bruised a few ribs and maybe will have a concussion but he wishes to play on later today." she took her seat behind the Queen once more.

"Tell him he is not to play again today, last thing I want is a Duke dropping dead in front of our guests" she smiled once more, "He is to join us here, tell him it is so I can keep an eye on him" Anna once more bowed and set off to find the Duke as the final moments of the game between the Queen's team and the City of Gaia, it finished as a 2-2 draw.  " Ah, I see its your Les Officers Galants" Klara pronounced the team name in her best Némérie accent which she assumed was well wide of the mark. "And they play the Isle of Tar, my homeland.....only 3,000 islanders you know....I think it would be very rude of your Officers to beat my homeland in my tournament don't you" she smiled at Louis, " Seriously though may the best team win" she extended a hand to the Prince as Thikon made his way into the royal box having quickly changed. "Are you ok?" Klara asked as she waved to Lady Jasmina to move a seat back so the Duke could sit just behind her to one side. "Now, you must stay awake, head injuries can be dangerous" she said sternly, "So perhaps you can fill me and Prince Louis in on the finer details of whats happening?" She instructed taking hold of his hand sympathetically as the game began.

Deborah walked off the field with her horse in a rather good mood, it had been an excellent game but the real reason she was smiling was that she'd managed to score a goal. Though she'd soon been reminded of the risks of playing such a sport with the Duke's incident, the good news at least was that the man was ok. She was still smiling as she passed Serenity, Lisa and Emalet.

"Well done." Serenity said
"That was more luck than skill and my grandma could have scored that goal." Deborah said, it had been the equivalent of a tap in
"You still did better than I could have done." Emalet said
"Thanks." Deborah said

With the participants in the next game warming up the Achkaerinese group turned their attention back to the activity, it would certainly be useful to have the insight of Thikon in terms of explaining the finer points of the sport, the same way that Hope Shearney explained the finer points of netball back home when that was being televised and she wasn't playing. Serenity was still thinking about what Klara had mused on earlier about riding on the beach, it wasn't really the same but there was an Azurewind habit to every now and then get a days horse riding in up at Crystalline Castle, those were fun days, relaxing days.

"So who do you think?" Emalet asked "The Nemerie team or the Isle of Tar?"
"Not really sure." Serenity said "Both sides have magnificent looking horses, both sides have decent looking riders judging by the way they're warming up so it could be a close game looking at it that way. Only thing we don't know from here is what's going on between the ears."

Princess Nessanië waited at the Airport in Gaia for the Virtuous Consort, whose time of reflection and contemplation had come to an end. Aranince had taken residence at the villa gifted to the Empress by the late Queen Viktoriya on Isle of Tar until his period of exile was deemed sufficient; he decided to take the opportunity to present himself to newly crowned Queen before his official return to the Arcalcassë.

Nessanië waited patiently, yet she was annoyed that she would have by now missed the first Polo match, at the Celestial Court in Imladris it was well known that the Princess was an avid participant of the sport.

She bowed respectfully to the Empress’ consort; tradition and station dictated that he must speak first. The two did not get on and would avoid another at official Court functions. But as Arda Tuluva’s ambassador to Lodja it was her obligation to meet the Virtuous Consort and present him to the Queen. He simply eyed her briefly before continuing on much to the annoyance of Nessanië who gave a look to Ayane. Had he learnt nothing during his time of solitude? Clearly he had not.

It was an awkward and silent ride from the airport to Polo Fields. Aranince and his ilar’nalda signed to each other, she could only understand small tidbits as she was uncertain what their unique gestures might mean. But, mainly he was being brought up to date about gossip and machinations of the Celestial Court.

The Virtous Consort, followed by Nessanië, then their two ilar’naldar made their way towards the Queen once they arrived.

“Your Divine Majesty,” Nessanië said bowing, “Twelve thousand apologies for my tardiness.” She bowed thrice more before gesturing to the Arda Tuluvan dynast, “If it pleases Her Divine Majesty may I present His Imperial Highness, Aranince, the Virtuous Consort.”

He bowed his head, “Honor and glory, Majesty. Congratulations on your ascension as Queen of Lodja, may your reign last ten thousand years.”

“Ten thousand years.” Nessanië repeated.

She glanced at Ayane before speaking again, “The Sovereign Prince of Némérie, Louis III.” Ayane was signing the names of the others; it was – after all – her duty to know these things. “Princess Adelheid of Neu Uburzis. And His Lordship, Besarian Ivanov, Lord of the Conclave.”

Aranince bowed his head politely to each as he was introduced. He took an open seat near the Queen, “I must compliment Your Majesty on the natural beauty of Lodja and her people, truly a jewel among nations. I had recently spent some time on Isle of Tar, the tranquility is substance for the soul.”

"Oh, i hope he is alright, such a handsome young man." Adelheid mention, watching the Duke getting carried off. She hadn't expected someone who brought a Teacup to a Party, a move even she found irritatingly insulting to his queen, still would have the guts to try and fight once more with a bruised rib. She had to try and keep a chance to get to know him somewhat closer.

And the necessary Distraction arrived not to much later. With the Arda Tuvulan late arrivals, Adelheid smiled and nodded: "What an honor that you join us for this eventful day." She never really understood their act, it was probably more to orion's liking. The Puppy loved overblown ceremonies and artistic Scenery.

Adelheid meanwhile took her chance to seat herself closer to the injured duke: "So, what Kind of Tea do you Prefer, Duke Thikon? Our late Empress preferred stronger Flavors that she could drink with milk." she then proceeded to seemingly observe his breathing for a moment: "This must be getting so Painful tomorrow. Such a brave move that you wished to continue leading your Team."

Klara smiled as the Princess Nessanië approached, she had much like Viktoria taken a liking to the people of that nation. They had a lot more ritual than Lodja but they did share ssome commonalities with everyone having a place and role which defined their interactions. Added to that Dragan seemed to trust this royal and as Klara in turn trusted him it meant the ambassador was in the Queen's good books. "There is no need to apologise." The Queen stood along with her Ladies in Waiting as the party arrived. "This nation is your home for as long as your ambassador here Princess Nessanie, your time is your own and I am once again simply happy you choose to spend it with us." She next turned to the Virtuous Consort, "And for your kind wishes thank you, but I think while Sessifet will reign those years....and more, I'll be long with her in spirit, but I wish the same and many more to your Queen." She offered them seats, Nessanie to her right and the Virtuous Consort next to Thikkon on her left. "Please just call for any food and drink you require, our chefs are at your disposal" she added. "We were just watching the Némérie team play the Isle of Tyr" (OOC - My bad, it's Isle of Tyr not Isle of Tar.....been messing that up for about a year now) At that point there was a cheer as the Némérie team scored and the Queen shook her head disappointingly. "I hope your Imperial Highness will be cheering for the Isle, I understand you've been living there for a while." she smiled, "Word travels fast on Tyr, its a small place and everyone knows everyone" she said reassuringly, "We absolutley didn't have the house bugged or spy cameras set up." she paniced wondering if he would pick up on her dry sarcasm. "I haven't been back myself in months now, I kind of miss the beaches" she leaned close to him, "Much nicer than the mainland ones" she returned to her own seat just as the Isle pulled level, without thinking she literally jumped out her chair and cheered.

Thikkon twisted to face Adelheid, "Your Highness thank you for your concern but you kind of get used to things such as this playing polo. I was a Dragoon officer until two years ago as well and we played some rather rough horse games back then, I've more than a scar or two from them but there happy times. I mean if your not testing what your capable of then life can become rather dull" he smiled hoping she understood his point, "As for tea you can not beat a good traditional Earl Grey, I understand its named for some noble from Seaforth but I'm not so sure. I don't imagine those Celts being too into their tea." he shurgged and instantly regretted it placing a hand on his stomach. "I understand you've become friends with Lady Stasya" he turned the conversation to Adelheid, "She's someone well placed for a young noble, very influential too if you believe the gossip papers" he paused, "and many do here.  What do you think of the rumours that surround her?" He had seen the pair talking at the Queen's coronation, clearly they were close as he'd even seen Stasya taking photos with the Princess.

Nemerie had scored again much to the Queen's disappointment. As Prince Louis headed off he did so with a jest from Klara, "I pray that your player is unhurt, but I hope your only a quarter as good" she teased as the Prince disappeared off. The group noticed the Prince blush slightly with his interaction with Nathalie, it was something that Lodjains just simply let pass, such relationships being a daily occurence and public shows of romance and affection being very commonplace. The Queen settled back to watch the rest of the game.

"I think Lady Stasya and myself are almost Business Friends, do not get the Impression that Social Media is all Flowers and rainbows. you need to Ensure to be at the right time, and the right spot. Even sometimes force attention to yourself through smartly acted bad behavior. The best Part about it, the better connected with others you are, the more your own fanbase grows. It's usually a mutual Win-Win to have Friends, especially with an almost entirely different Cultural Base. Both profit."

Adelheid then slowly put on a Lipstick, smiling with a mischievous grin: "Lady Stasya plays her Cards well, she knows when, where and how much is to be known. Though i have a feeling she might be up to something recently."

She then had a servant bring her a cup of black Tea, though in the general china: "Also i do have to admit i do not fancy expensive china. Could be because i broke some as little girl and my Aunt was Heavy handed with us and her own children."
She sipped from the Cup, leaving a light stain of Lipstick on it: "Personally i love Kuro Hoshi the most. Rather gentle and Sweet for a Black Tea, but since it's from Rokkejima it's Hard to get by in Neu Uburzis, even for a Princess."

She would slowly pull him closer, with an almost wicked smile: "Care for some Rumors yourself, Duke Thikkon? It's not like you are engaged right now, am i right?"

Thikkon couldn't help but find the Princess Adelheid amusing. He leaned to speak to her in a hushed tone, "I think Your Highness you may not be too familiar with Lodja despite your time here. Rumours are how business gets done, its like the lifeblood of the nobility. There is very little disticntion between business and personal relationships and knowing who is with who is rather useful. So you see in Lodja even rumours are based in truth. My engagement to Princess Alana was only ever a relationship of convineance. To use a metaphor I had aimed my lance at Queen Viktoria and despite it falling short I ended up doing OK for myself. Alana served a purpose and helped me make friends and influence people at court and that is what being a Lodjain noble is about. Sadly the death of Viktoria changed things, but it does give me a second go with a new lance" he winked at Adelheid, "I rather like the sound of King Thikkon the First" he leaned back to his own chair and began talking once more with Queen Klara.

Duchess Ekatarina has witnessed the two talk and the smile on Thikkon's face. She could work out the kind of things that had been said or at least she assumed so. "I hope a Princess who is a guest in our country would take some advice from a former Lady in Waiting and a Duchess" she began sitting in an empty chair just behind Adelhaid, "Don't get too involved with Thikkon, his families fortune isn't quiet what he likes people to think it is and he'd probably cut of his own hand to get the Queen into bed. He only stays well in at court because his uncle is the Minister of Defence and seems content to bank roll his playboy lifestyle." Ekatarina leaned back thinking for a moment, "You want to get yourself a good catch at court Besarian Ivanov is the way to go. Handsome, very influential, rich and utterly unmarried. I often think he'd make a good husband No.3" she added as she pointed to where the Lord of the Conclave was stood with a glass of Bucks Fizz chatting with a group of uniformed men from the military.

Adelheid wasn't smiling as the duchess approached her, and took a seat closer to hear, and clearly far enough away from the Duke:
"Oh, personally i just wanted to see what kind of man he is, and i dislike what i saw."
A wide grin formed on her face, though her eyes didn't speak of joy behind it:
"I Dislike being turned of so rudely and getting called second rate. I might not be a Queen, or an Empress, but i can make Money on my own. And if it's Rumors he wan'ts for business, well. Let's see where it Leads him. Please, excuse me for a moment."

Adelheid stood up, and walked into a Phone corner of the Tent, leaning gently while watching the Nobility:

"Hello there Darling." she said, as she had been speaking on the Phone:
"Yes quite nice, actually. You see, i am here at the Lodjan Polo Event. Didn't i see one of your Reporters earlier? You know, the young dashing Jessamine?"
A small Pause, as a laughter as cold as breaking ice escaped Adelheids throat: "Oh of course. Here#s the Deal. She needs to fetch up some Pictures from either the Duke Thikkon, or his Servant before the game. Trust me, she will know. If she has to ask the others around someone probably has caught it. If she does so, and you follow my idea for an article i will send you after today, you get two Reporters in for the Backstage of the Fashion show in Uburzis, Deal?"
another Pause, with Adelheid Pacing the corner:
"Not an Issue, even if they wouldn't see it as an Issue, i am Rather sure the Rest of the World does. Should be enough to make a Point. Hear you later, bye!"

Adelheid then slowly walked back to the Duchess, her smile like starring down an anacondas maw: "It sure comes in handy to have the gossip Daily on Speed Dial. so, can you tell me anything about Bessarian i should know as a Woman of a foreign Country? I know of his Status, and that he didn't get his will in the Choosing of the next Queen, and had issues of getting exactly where he wanted with Victoria from what i gathered, but there must be a reason he still didn't pick someone to be a this side, well aside from probably eyeballing the queen as well."

Ekaterina had to smile to herself as Adelheid asked about Besarian. "Well I have much I can tell" she paused for a moment, "But at some point when I'm in your land you must tell me all about the influential people there. Fair is fair" she chuckled before continuing. "Besarian is a man that is a rare combination of smart ideas, handsome looks, devious plans and a likeability with the people. He knows how to walk a path through our political landscape better than most and while he may not have got the Queen he wanted he didn't need that, it would have just pushed him over the top in terms of influence. The last I heard he was looking for brides for his younger brothers leaving himself single, you see that better appeals to the female nobles who believe they could marry him and thus helps him keep his influence but he's not really a family man."

Across back at the side of the field Nathalie sat next to Klara and made her offer to try and fix the game. "I'd wish no such thing. This is a tournament of find the best players not the best distracters, if we lose we lose." She shrugged as though it was of little impact on her what the result was. "The tournament is more of a social occasion anyway isn't it Anna?" Klara turned to Anna Immich the Lead Lady in Waiting who was expected to be somewhat of a cultural expert.

"Your correct Your Divine Majesty" she began from her seat behind the royals. "It started as a way of the older unmarried nobleman to find wives and for them to do business. Younger girls had the various balls that are held usually in the autumn and early winter. There was a significant number of noble men who back in time had lost wives because of child birth or oher disasters, the Priesthood was growing larger and many of what were considered the prettier girls were being recruited into that meaning it was harder to pair up. A polo tournament got all the influentail nobles together and in the months after we usually have many marriages." Anna explained.

"Who knows....I may even find myself someone" Klara gave a sly smile to Thikkon who seemed to blush and then glance back at the game which was drawing to an end in a draw.

"Now, that sounds like what i am looking for. Conected with a Noble, in need of an upgraded Status, but not influential enough to overshadow me. I really should take a look at Lord Bessarians Brothers, unless they really are Schoolboys."
Adelheid chuckled: "Then probably Orion should drink some Chocolate with them."
"But when we are talking influence, there's obviously my Brother Albrecht. He effectively has the strings of our intelligence service in hands, actually had so for quite a while. Also he stays single until Orion will rule on his own. Not that he really fancied picking a Woman for that matter even before our aunt died."
Adelheid leaned back, sipping some Tea she had gotten herself from a servant: "Though if you are more on the political field, then keep an eye out for our Diplomats Grandfather. Robert of Niameck is old and influential. His word is almost law by Nature. If he desires a change, he can sway the Senates in a breeze to follow suit."

Ekaterina was always interested to know who was who in foreign governments, especially monarchies as they were much easier to influence and make progress with than stupid democracies. "You may have to introduce me to this Robert person" she chuckled, "As for Besarians brothers they are in their early late 20's."

The games progressed throughout the day until the Polo reached its conclusion just as the sun was descending. The Queen had spent most of that time sat around the halfway line, never very far from Thikkon and constantly dealing with the coming and going of various guests ranging from those just wishing to say hello to those who wished to get the Queen's approval for one thing or another. One man in his fifties, a Duke of some minor village in the North of the nation had even asked permission for his grand-daughter to marry a Marine officer, it was still custom for Lodjains to ask the person above them in the social heirachy to permit marriage even if only required for Plebs these days. Klara of course was only too happy to say yes and had ordered Lady Jasmina to attend and help the bride to be prepare. As dusk began to fall the tournament was over and people retired to the massive white marquee which was now set out with gigantic round tables dressed with off ivory coloured table linens and fine silver cutlery. The teams having washed up and changed were seated with each team being announced and applauded to their own tables. The various sponsers had their own tables as did some of the influential nobles.

Dragan Knežević found himself and his guests hosting the Arda Tuluvan group, he was careful to ensure his friends paid the proper respects himself personally pulling out Princess Nessanië's chair and waiting for her to be sat before motioning for his guests to do likewise. It was left to Baron Roman Chownyk, the former husband of the late Queen Viktoria to look after the Achkaerin delegation. Princess Adelheid was of course persuaded to sit with Ekatarina and her party, both her husbands in attendance as well as the Seleucid ambassador, a bald spectacle wearing man called Shiekh Abdullah Huilani, clearly an arrangement from the business womans marriage connections.

The head table was of course empty for the time being, it wasn't the thing for the Queen to be left waiting for guests to arrive and so once everyone was in place a fanfare was played and the Queen, dressed in traditional blue and gold dress this time pattened with a series of intricate swirls and curves entered. She had her usual entourage with her and Duke Thikkon on her arm. She took the centre seat and sat down followed by everyone else. The various tables enjoyed a banquet of seafood before the Queen presented the various teams and players with awards, there was the overall championship for Pelagiya Polo, making Lady Stasya happy, meanwhile one of the Nemerien players won the trophy for top scorer. The Queen's Award for best player went to a female Major in the Royal Guard and each team recieved a small commemorative medal for each player. As the presentations finished the staff hurried to tidy tables as the centre of the room was readied for a dance floor, Lodjains did of course love a ball and tonight would be no different. The Queen was expected to start the dancing and everyone stood ready to watch her and Duke Thikkon begin the dancing, but Klara had other ideas. She stood as the music began and on her own walked towards the tables, automatically but rather hurridly the Ladies in Waiting tried to keep up with her but Klara was well ahead by the time they'd navigated their way between the various tables. A rather embarrased looking Major, the one who had won the best player award found herself being raised to her feet and lead to the dancefloor by Klara. The Major was clearly a little awkward having never danced in the manner expected before with another woman but Klara was a student of dance and knew the male and female parts off by heart to most things that would be played and the Queen adopted the lead of the dance.

"What the hell is she doing" Lady Anna, the lead Lady in Waiting whispered to the others. "It...well its not really the way" she explained.

"Well maybe Thikkon isn't as much to her liking as we thought" Roksana chuckled as the Queen expertly twirled the female Major around the floor. "She's a good mover" the more junior Lady in Waiting smiled feeling a little jealous of the Major herself. "I think once again she wants people to realise that gossip about her isn't really going to make her do anything she doesn't want to do." There had been all day posts on Lodjain social media about the Queen and Thikkon, even some rumour about him disrespecting her over some tea cup or something, but that had largely been laughed at by young Lodjains who were more interested in the body language between the pair which had lead some to suggest that evening at the ball the Queen would announce an engagement, now Twitter was already blowing up with images and new rumours.

Adelheid leaned to Ekaterina, smiling warmly:
"Oh the old man wont mind. Though be careful, don't try to talk Business with him. We are peculiar on our laws of ownership and responsibilities. You will not have much luck if you try and coax a Deal out of him right away."
Adelheid watched the dancing, before tilting her head:
"That reminds me: My brother wasn't able to get the whole Picture last year at the desert festival. How exactly did Danyal get the beating? From what i know you had a better point of view, and it was something about insulting the pope?"
Adelheid watched with some amusement as the ladies in waiting tried chasing down the queen:
"Considering when the pope was over for a private visit here, he cause a little scene as well. Someone threw cutlery at him."
Adelheid chuckled again, leaning back.
"you only had daughters if i recall right?"

"Ah my cousin Danyal.....or something" Ekaterina began as she watched out the corner of her eye the Queen making a rather untraditional gesture. "Yes he was apparently rude to the Pope, something about him offering a gift that was beneath the mans station or something" she shrugged it wasn't really her concern and he wasn't exactly close family to her  so it was more her daughters problem. "The Seleucid are very specific when it comes to them playing hosts" she added before laughing to find out about the Pope getting cutlery thrown at him, "I'd have liked to see that" she grinned broadly, "The man comes across as a bit of a snake to me, does deals one minute and then backs out, not to mention the fact his entire faith creeps me out. You know when I was thinking of investing in other Albion nations I read his bible, you know they don't even let you wear clothing of mixed fabrics in his faith, must be a lot of sinners out there because I'm pretty sure his Holiness himself  will be breaking that one. Imagine going to hell for your clothing choices, still I've seen some women around today who are destined for fashion hell but thats a different story." She glanced once more to where Klara and this Lodjain Major were dancing, the Queen taking the lead role in the dance. "Now what do you make of that fiasco, woman should have that Thikkon leading her round by the hand not some female military type." Ekaterina shook her head with slight disapproval. "Now don't get me wrong I have no issue with whoever she wants to sleep with but the nation should be getting a King anytime soon and that's not helping the situation." she pointed over. "I have my two daughters and so long as they continue the family line they can dance with whoever they wish, just this Queen needs her priorities sorting.

Adelheid leaned back:
"That's one thing i do not envy Orion for. Our nation will choose his bride out of a sort of. How would i say..." Adelehid seems to ponder a moment:

"Think of it as Mundus summer Games, just the price is no Medal but to become the Spouse of a Prince or in that case the Emperor. Albrecht has it stalled a little until Orion is at least 16 though."
She glanced back to Klara: "Honestly i feel like she made more of a political statement her. She probably looks for someone who can handle himself better and does not lament the quality of the china like that whimp." There's still anger in her voice, Adelheid seems is not easy to forgive being treated like second rate. "Maybe you should see if you can cater up a proper Bachelor? I am rather sure a Queens husband owing you a thing or two would work out as well."

Brushing her hair aside, she smiles: "Though talking about that Weasel, there's been a couple of incidents leading Albrecht to dislike the man. Basically started though when he tried to hand out some sort of christian icon pendant as Coronation gift to Orion. You know, to the person just a couple of weeks ago was kidnapped by christian extremists. My brother was still fuming days later."
