BACKGROUND
In the early 1300's, several minor feudal entities were united under the banner of Danylo The Elder, son of the Duke of Lavosk. Conquering his Slavic neighbours, Danylo laid the foundation for the Kingdom of Lavosk, a task his son, Danylo the Younger would complete after his death. The nascent Kingdom of Lavosk then began to stretch its muscles, expanding and exploring deep into Coft Aranye and the Sea of Kyne, establishing trade and forging treaties. Within a generation or two, the Kingdom of eventually sailed the Karifan Ocean. Heading further and further east until finally discovering Alba Karinya and the Illumic Channel where they fatefully met the Kingdom of Seaforth.
An initially profitable meeting between the two kingdoms lasted for several years as trade and commerce made each nation wealthy. As they prospered, the friendly relationship slowly developed into a friendly competition as each sought to increase it's wealth, power and influence in and effort to dominate the seas. A strong rivalry ensued as former friends viewed each other suspiciously, and with increasing hostility as diplomacy failed and tensions rose.
In later years, both nations would oppose each other through colonies and vassals, often backing opposing sides in other conflicts. One of those wars finally brought the two nations into direct conflict and resulted in the Kingdom of Seaforth prevailing in the ensuing Seaforth/Lavoskian war. Its power broken, the line of Danylo Lavosk was ended along with the majority of the other noble houses. The kingdom was ransacked by Seaforth, it's treasury emptied. Not desiring to hold the broken Kingdom, Seaforth abandoned it to it's fate.
In the wake of their defeat at the hands of Seaforth the people pulled together to remake their nation a republic. A shadow of their former selves, however, the Republic of Slava Lavosk was relegated to second or third tier status and remained there until they were plucked out of obscurity by United Soviet Rodina. With fairly solid political leadership, Slava Lavosk was able to avoid the fate of many weaker nations and did not become a part of the Soviet Bloc, but remained an ally on the continent. Slava Lavosk continued to oppose Seaforth into the Great War period where they were, for a second time, defeat by their long-time enemy.
Slower to recover from the Great War, Slava Lavosk has made steady recovery in the ensuing years and avoided another defeat when the USR fell to the combined forces of the CIS (Including Seaforth). With the breakup of both the USR and the CIS and Slava Lavosk being the strongest it has been in years, the nation is once again looking to make an impact on the world stage. With the return of their enemy, Seaforth, they look at its recovery with great trepidation and concern.
