The Art of Tea Drinking (Krimeon & Huisslandia)
« on: December 30, 2018, 10:13:01 PM »

To:- Queen Heloise Gough of Huisslandia

Dearest Heloise,

How are you faring these days? Hope you had a wonderful time with the family, celebrating Christmas and welcoming the New Year in all of its glory, as I have been gladly doing so myself with Victoria and the Kids.

I remember the last time we visited our homeland, orchestrating a great Gough Family reunion and it became quite the success and the entire experience felt couldn't have been better than it was. This is why I extend in this short message to invite thee and your family to Krimeon; I know how much you love tea and if you lived here everyday, Afternoon Tea including those irresistible cucumber sandwiches would be served at your pleasure in the Royal Palace. Haha, no wonder we Krimeonites have to keep ourselves in shape, constantly.

In any case, until this message is replied I bid you the best of luck and multitude of blessings hence forth; the years haven't been always the ideal for the Goughs but centuries have past and look at what we have accomplished. This is the spirit of a positive outlook on the future that must be cherished no matter what, and being grateful that all of us are still in good health and fortunes, as well for the peoples of Huisslandia and Krimeon.

Take Care and God Bless my Dearest Heloise,

Prince Rodrigo of the Krimeonites

It was around midday in Krimeon when the Gough family touched down at Krimeon International airport. The family were flying  first class in Royal Huiss Airlines airbus. The plane just touched down and the Huiss royals were the first ones to get off the plane in order to maintain a low profile and were escorted to a private terminal. Emille said to her sister Johanna “You think that awesome pizza place on the corner of 34th and Amsterdam Street is still there?” Her older sister Princess Johanna replied “Nope Romano retired and couldn’t go on, unfortunately is son is out of the country so you know, it shut down.” Emille replied “Damn. I was looking forward to going there later.”

Their father King Regent Jorman chimed in “Relax girls if we are still here later I will show you an amazing boutique traditional Huiss café, the waffles and chips are amazing. Hmm I have to remember to take your mother there sometime. “Heloise chimed in “Honey I already know about De Koffiepauze…You should try their stoner pack.” The rest of the family chuckled lightly.

Heloise then Spoke again” You think just coming here so suddenly was a good idea?” Johanna responded “Don’t worry I know where a private terminal arranged for us is. I already made the palace aware of us yesterday. I didn’t want them to be rushing. After all its only a light reunion and tea I would imagine.” Queen Heloise replied “True”

The family had their luggage handled by the airport staff and made their way to the private terminal. The family were dressed in a more business-casual attire and left their traditional at home. This was a family reunion after all and not a state visit, all of them in muted neutral tones.

Being the current Prince Regnant of the Krimeonites was a busy occupation indeed as it required a direct, hands-on approach to govern the country according to the constitution which was similar to East Moreland's, and it was Rodrigo himself who stepped up to the job 45 years ago, after the sad yet awaited death of his grandfather Prince Charles II. With every moment to spare, having a simple yet well-needed family reunion was the perfect opportunity to let of some steam and have a bit of fun, although in a few years Rodrigo planned to make his heir and eldest daughter Elizabeth the Regent of the country, thereby delegating the actual constitutional powers to her and exercising them in his name; the early 70s was a ripe time to 'retire' after all.

"Heloise! Long time no see!" he approached the 'original' Goughs, giving the Queen and the princesses huge hugs and a firm handshake to the King. "Lookin' good Jorman...my beautiful nieces, you've grown all taller since I last saw you but not aged a single day." Rodrigo helped carry their luggage and placed them far back into the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII's trunk. "I know what you've been thinking, me standing here in the open with no protection or any other assistant. Fret not, the Krimeonites wouldn't bother their upstanding Prince and besides, never mess with an Adartse whether he's drunk or sober hehe. Besides, I like to take my 'baby' out for a ride without any distractions. And...". He gestured them to the front of the vehicle, as Rodrigo approached from the right side and opened a compartment, revealing an ornated revolver, "Hopefully I'll never need to use this." he said, "Well what are you waiting for? Hop in, the Tea's gonna get cold otherwise" he chuckled.

Exiting the airport area, it didn't take too long for the group to witness on the nearby horion of Krimeon City's Skyline, "Can you believe it my friends, 540 skyscrapers of over 150 m currently present in this mega city of 33 million people? More keep just popping up like mushrooms, y'know those that appear after dogs pee...well yeah we're gonna need more of them soon for growing business and an ever increasing population, making it feel tight and cozy." Rodrigo paused as he pondered on necessary solutions for the future, perhaps taking inspiration from the Conglomerate wouldn't be a bad idea after all?

The Prince gave a quick look on the back mirror as he saw Heloise and the daughters sitting right behind, whilst Jorman was right beside. "So, spill out the latest for me will ya'? It's gonna take a few minutes to head back to the Palace anyway. Heard that we're going to get a new ambassador, what's his name again...Something with Dür...Dürlitz was it?".

Heloise replied “Oh Ja, Herman Dürlit he’s the former Foreign Minister under the previous government. I checked up on him, turns out his son is studying medicine here. Anyway enough politics. Johanna here has finished her MBA studies after years of all nighters fuelled by what I assume is all of the coffee and some weird form of weapons grade cocaine.” She said humouredly replied in a deadpan and nonchalant manner.

Johanna replied while roiling her eyes “Hilarious” Johanna responded in the same manner. Heloise continued as she gestured towards Emille änd this one will be finishing her undergrad next year.”Emille interjected “Yes but at the present time it’s a smemster break…God thing too because those exams have been turning my brain to almost seriall killer rage thoughts.”Heloise then replied with the usual dry gough whit “That’s a sentence you want to hear from your daughter…You know they get this from you.” She said as she gestured to Jorman.

Jorman simply shrugged his shoulders and said  with a light grin on his face “Of course.” He then focuses his attention to Rodrigo “So as you can see the family is fine and doing well. It still amazes me how huge this place is. I guess with such little land the only place to go is up. Highrises and vertical expansion and all that. I mean the largest city in Huisslandia has the population of 10 or so million people. Also how is Victoria and the kids?”

Prince Rodrigo felt relieved and happy by the words uttered from his Gough relatives, and continued to speak in his funny mix-mash of Dutch, French and German, hoping they would be able to catch up what he was saying whilst keeping himself intact from bursting our in laughter, trying to see if they were true Huisslanders or not. "Well good that everything's working out fine. Speaking of which Hel, we still need to have that private discussion that you and I agreed upon so plenty of politics to show up, though not before having plentiful of sandwiches, scones and lovely tea." he replied, as the car contiued to soar through traffic.

"Yes, I'm curious as to how many people we can field before reaching the point of no return." he simply said before re-directing the attention. "The kids and Vicky are doing just fine, everything is as usual and runs smoothly." Rodrigo paused, it was indeed a while since he checked up on his children if they were actually faring well as they should or not, the job had clearly taken much of his time as the years passed by, perhaps retirement krept up closer faster than expected. In any case, Afternoon Tea would probably remedy that to a degree and he would need to check his schedule and see if something could be changed.

"Welcome to Buckingham!" Rodrigo announced as the car finally arrived to the main Royal Palace in Krimeon City, which was located in one of the oldest parts of Elsbridge which was an independent city prior to the royal degree a century or so back to consolidate the cities into one. With bright-red clad guards wearing their characteristic beaverskin hats making a salute as the car entered through the gate, Prince Rodrigo exited the car and handed the keys to a vallét and let the rest carry the Gough Family's luggage. Gesturing them to follow him, the group entered the Palace and passed through a series of corridors filled with various items of decoration and portraits bearing the memories of passed events and ancestors relating to Krimeon's history and the Goughs.

With a deep breath, Rodrigo opened the door leading to a room where the Afternoon Tea was supposed to be held, in the middle stood Princess consort Victoria and the three children; Princesses Elizabeth and Madeleine as well as Prince Charles.

The family made their way down the hallway taking in the historical atmosphere. When Prince Rodrigo opened up the room Queen Heloise herself gently hugged Victoria “Princess Victoria, how are you. It’s been far too long. I would’ve come sooner but you know, the administrative duties of our offices keep us busy. As I’m sure you know. “

Princess Johanna greeted both Princess Madeline and Princess Elizabeth. Äh how long has it been, it seems forever since I’ve seen you two.”

Princess Emille greeted Prince Charles “Long time no see.. I like what you people have done with the place..”She said in her usual dry and deadpan sense of humour.”

"Likewise our favorite sister across the sea, it has far been too long." Elizabeth returned the courteous greeting, giving her a hug in the process with Madeleine doing the same thing; "Congratulations with finished studies, MBA isn't a bad achievement to reach at all ma gurl!" she exclaimed, as the three princess sat alongside their parents by a coffee table which was filled with the necessary components for a delightful and successful afternoon tea; sandwiches, scones, toppings and other sweet bread, tea and coffee…

"Oh no need to apologise sweety, I know too well how Rodrigo's schedule's structured." she whispered to Heloise as Rodrigo gestured them to take a seat in preparing for the tea party to begin.

"Em, Em, Em, never stop being who you are; ever considered a career as a stand up comedian? Why don't ya try it out in one of the clubs, got a boatload of them, obviously." Charles gave Emille a hug as well, but as with many it felt like taking a half an entire second, it felt like an eternity; the moment the sisters entered, Charles realised how much they blossomed since their last encounter. Em turned out to be a mature and beautiful young lady, with the sense of humor and intelligence she possessed, any 'simple' man including Charles himself would fall for her. He didn't feel it to be immoral, after all they were within the same House but distantly related and thus wasn't alien much. Whether this were to be the woman for the rest of his life remained to be seen, but kept the feelings inside for now.

He put his arms across her shoulder as they were sitting and listening to Rodrigo holding a short speech about family unity, loyalty, devotion and the rest of the universal values that family members were supposed to show for each other.

Jorman and Heloise clapped and the rest of the family followed suit. Heloise was the first to reply “An excellent speech as always Prince. I must admit we haven’t seen each other much lately. It’s unfortunate but people in our position are always busy by our very nature.”

The rest of the family got back to their usual groups Crown Princess Johanna spoke to the girls again. “So anyway, enough about me “What’s new with the two of you?” She asked Elizabeth and Madeline

Princess Emille raised her eyebrow and looked at Prince Charles in a coy manner “You know people are going to think we are dating if you keep doing that. Dinner and a movie is fine. I guess I’m rather old fashioned.” She said in her usual deadpan manner.

Jorman greeted Victoria and approached her with thee manner of old friends, they had known each other of a long time. He had a plate and a matching tea cup filled with Krimeon tea. “This nations tea can be rather bitter at times. But I love it. So Victoria How are you. It’s been a while.”

Heloise approached Rodrigo on the side with a cup of Huiss coffee. “So prince earlier on the car you sai you wanted to have a discussion with me in private?” She asked politely.

"Thank you, I think you know how much I appreciate it when my audience expresses their opinion on my performance…" Rodrigo replied, as he grabbed a few sandwiches on his plate whilst pouring some tea and coffee for himself and the others. "...There are those who say that it becomes easier in life, whilst there's the crowd who puts it on the opposite side of the spectrum. I still can't decide which of those notions is the truth, perhaps it's in-between or not even there? Even as a 72 yr old I haven't got a clue still, surprising isn't it? I guess that's how life works, the answers pop up as they please whenever they want to, no matter how hard one tries to search for them. I mean, in a way I suppose when we were younger we had the chance to pay a visit or two every year, and now our kids have the privilege to do so if they wanted." Rodrigo said, as he leaned closer to whisper in Heloise's ear.

"My beloved cousin, I would appreciate it if we could talk business and such in my private study room a bit later, and leave it out from the tea party", the old monarch simply suggested with a smile.

"Excuse me? I could the same thing about this so-called 'coffee' which is more like stale water, Jor." Victoria chuckled as she gave a dunk on Jorman's back. "But then again I guess both of us have to endure something that doesn't directly appear on our daily rythm? In any case, it has been indeed a while since we've had our encounters, and what else is there to add to such notion? I'm not sure if there has been a lot of change within our lives, Krimeon's always evolving however, from the infrastructure to the various kinds of peoples inhabiting this city and newer lot immigrating in the hopes of acquiring a better life for themselves and their descendants, same old vibrant tale I suppose." she replied, sipping on that Huiss coffee.

"Oh Joh, such a tough question. Nah, not really but Madeleine, Charles and I have been pretty busy lately in the 'Princely Foundation', it's pretty much a portfolio of private companies, museums, and art collections if you remember, Basically a multitude of investments including pampering the shit out of right-wing politicians here and there, selling our prized books that Papa and Mama write." Elizabeth said firstly as she munched on a chicken sandwich and washing it all down with tea.

"One might think that it would be boring working in a family company, at least all three of us thought so, but it has definitely given us to work closely with the Krimeonite citizens in a multitude of ways possible, as well as opening up our horizons to perspectives we've never thought was possible before; many different investments brings of course a wide portfolio but also the chance to meet quirky personalities and such. Oops, have I been philosophising again?" the sisters chuckled.

"Damn Joh, you've been working out a lot lately I see, nice!" Elizabeth commented as she and the younger sister touched and felt Johanna's shoulders and arms. "Looks like Em's been having some of that as well." Madeleine said as she took a clove of grapes and picked them one by one in the process, noticing how Charles was kinda close to Emille. "So reveal to us your usual routines in the gym..." she asked curiously. "We've forced Charlie to do some yoga and pilates, and oh my gosh how tense he was at first, couldn't move a muscle but now it's much better. Remember when he used to be plump in his younger days? Changing his diet helped as well immensely, he doesn't stuff himself with a lot of Krimenoite 'crap' like pizzas and fries." she laughed.

"Not sure what you're insuniating about Em, a date with your cousin? What on earth are you thinking hehe?" he replied in a humourous fashion as he offered to pour some more tea or coffee. "But I'll gladly take you on dinner and a movie, perhaps with my pals if you'd like? You're after all here on holiday and it's up to the visitor's wishes that their commands shall be obeyed", Charles said. Em's an intelligent creature such as himself naturally, perhaps he would need to be patient in order to break her psychological barrier, he had to try again until it wasn't possible, naturally. "So...I'll go ahead with the generic question such as...How are you faring back in the Gough HQ?".

Heloise smiled and respected Rodrigo’s wishes. She replied “Oh I am in the same position. Still wondering if what I am doing is ok. I know I am Queen but yeah there are days sometimes where I think I have no idea what I am doing.” She said as she lightly chuckled quietly.

Jorman replied “True. Huisslandia is currently dgoing through the same changes. We’ve taken large waves of immigrants before. Our Northern neighbor has just been through a civil war, so our nation is expected to take large sums of them. So yeah there will be that to manage. But their culture will enrich ours all the same. We also in the middle of trying to negotiate some kind of common trade area with our neighbours. First Consul L’Rois and her government seem determined on their policy of voluntary regional integration. So that will be interesting.” He replied while taking a bite of his salmon sandwich.

Johanna replied to the sisters “Yeah we have a portfolio like that at home known as the Soevereine Sroei Fonds” Basically a bunch of our money goes into bonds and shares into infrastructure and healthcare development projects of companies which we hold a couple of stakes in. It was originally my dad idea which my sister and I are refining with research from several financial instutitions such as investment banks and hedge funds.”

Johanna replied about the work out. “Yeah well my sister and I are currently, much to my protests that I am just a mortal human being have a militaristic like workout routine because we have some former drill seargent from biseam who doesn’t get the idea that I am just a woman not some terminating war machine.” She said as she chuckled with a tone of implicit frustration. “Em however seems to do fine because I don’t know she has been doing the military training stuff for ages and I think likes to watch her dear older sister suffer. “

Emille lightly chuckled when she heard her sister describe their routine. Emille replied to Charles question “Gough HQ, eh its fine I guess. I have my own apartment though. Can’t do what I want in the palace, also you know its away from the press and prying eyes and gives me a chance to be my own person. Its in the more modern area of east Fortstad. Also sure I’ll be happy to get out of here sometime and have you show me around the city again. It seems like forever since I have been here.“

As Rodrigo listened intentively, drinking his Russian-style tea he almost choked, letting out a cough or two. Damn, Viktor's coming back today, he told himself taking a look at his Watch, it should be any time soon.

Viktor had just come back from a combined spa and Orthodox monastery, which was located outside the main city and into the wild, so to say. He hadn't seen much of his family for the past year, putting himself into near isolation as the stress of being an active monarch took a toll on his body; he'd neglected the duties a father should be towards his family and even his dogs, it nearly killed him in fact. It wasn't an easy decision to say the least but everyone around him understood what needed to be done. Here he was finally, though, right beside his wife, Tsarina Catherine who formerly belonged to House Adartse as well and thus shared a kinship with Rodrigo. Holding his hand, she managed to encourage him to open the door and present himself to the rest. With a mixture of nervousness and confidence, he took the first step.

As a Royal Guard opened the door, the Royal couple made themselves visible to the family, as they suddenly stopped blabbering and focused their attention to the entrance; It couldn't be?!...they thought. "DAD!" the Gough-Petrov kids rushed from their seats and went on a hugging spree with their dad whom they haven't seen for a while, so this was the purpose of this supposed reunion of the Gough Family. "Oh how much I missed you guys, I'm now back forever and I promise to make my Life more balanced!" he exclaimed as a tear rolled down his cheek.

"Heloise, Jorman, Johanna and Emille, please give me your best hugs!" Viktor said as he also greetd happily the Huiss Goughs; Heloise was the one he cherished most, even if they were cousins he considered her to be a Little sister who was always there for him and held frequent Contact with her during his retreat in the monastery. "I trust that the tea tasted delicious as Always?" Tsarina Catherine asked as she sat down with Viktor; what followed was a few hours more of social interactions between members of the same family who haven't seen each other for a while, it felt successful and joyous to say the least.

It was at the end of it that, Viktor announced something special; "As to honor the presence of our guests, It has now come to the occasion of gift giving, so me and Catherine decided to give each of our Huiss Goughs something memorable to keep hold of and pass it down generation through generation". The royal couple held each two ornate wooden boxes and handed each of them to Heloise et al. On his signal, they were allowed to witness what was inside by opening the lids, revealing a Fabergé Egg and a Matryoshka Doll "I hope it's to your delight, we couldn't think anymore Krimeon than these" he then laughed with the others.

Thanking Rodrigo and Victoria for everything they've done during his absence, Tsar Viktor motioned Heloise to follow him to one of the offices in the magnificent Winter Palace. "Apologies but I'm soon heading to an open-air press conference outside the Grand Kremlin Palace to announce officially my return to active duty and other changes that need to be done, for the Sake of Krimeon's welfare. "While we're on our way, perhaps you could already tell me now Huisslandia's desires when it comes to our relations?"

Queen Heloise Gough responded to the Tsar’s question Äh well I would assume some form of free trade agreement will be in order as well as Visa free agreement, after all our people are practically cousins across the ocean as well as opening up an official embassy. She said with great frankness as what she and the Huiss people in general were known for. “

She then took a bite out of her salmon sandwich “The ball is in your court your highness, we are more than willing to negotiate on any kind of relationship wyou would like, the devil is of course in the finer details. Afterall our nations are practically family if you get down to it.”

"Thanks for the inputs, just wanted to check things through before I represent them." he replied at first as they both passed the Winter Palace's corridors before they finally reached one of the Study rooms of Tsar Viktor, and the interior itself never let down any permanent citizen or visitor who entered any of these. Overlooking the large Palace complex, Viktor compelled Heloise to take a seat. He chuckled upon her suggestion that the peoples were cousins of some sorts, "I hope you meant in a symbolic fashion, I'm sure most scientists would disgree on the genetic composition...Also I see you brought along that Salmon sandwich, it makes me very glad in fact. Your honesty even touches the fine notions of human emotions such as hunger." he laughed.

"Now let me present to you a proposed treaty which I'm sure will satisfy both parties", he opened one of the desk's drawers and placed the documents in front of Heloise, "Everything that's in there which was requested and extra is included" he said with a smile.

Re: The Art of Tea Drinking (Krimeon & Huisslandia)

Queen Heloise merely smiled and went over it a few minutes. “Well your majesty, there isn’t anything in here that I would disagree with. But then again, I’m merely speaking for myself here. I trust I can make some copies of this treaty. I will need to present this to the Royal Diet so I can gain a full mandate to sign. The First Consul would also like a copy as well I would imagine. Overall I would think that this treaty is generally agreeable.“

Heloise then took off her glasses “Now as for your space program. I will be happy to oblige, how we have to go over finer details on how to administer the offices and what goes where, I propose the help of an additional nation in this program..  If we want this Space agency to thrive the more funding the better. I propose we also meet President Johannes Cheong Mayama of the Republic of Biseam with this idea.” (OOC: Yes my devious plan is coming to life, lol)

"Excellent my beloved cousin!" the Tsar exclaimed as he moved closer towards the Huiss Queen and gave her a kiss on the forehead. "You've always been a sister to me, I hope you know that I've always been grateful for your insight; you've Always been the clever one of the family bunch" he said smiling, as he sat down again. "I certainly like the sound of that involving Biseam in this ambitious yet rewarding project of ours, as we could truly show us being a major force in space exploration and technology. Biseam...the land of cheap saké and sex robots in all of their shameless glory, their brains are perfectly suited for this. A summit held between our respective science ministers would be the most appropriate as well."

"Also, would it be possible to know about Huisslandia's view on foreign policy, are you going to involve the kingdom in a more active sense with ongoing events taking place, such as the two crises in Midaranye? That Voronov Zinchenko may be a brainless fool at times, but he certainly isn't entirely wrong when it comes to the matters raised concerning Huiss in this instance, I must admit. The CNN nations got each other for instance, and even if Krimeon's currently striving to become a part of that amazing organisation, we don't want to neglect this ancient, magnificent relationship with Huiss that has been ongoing for a few centuries now. I hope it's Huiss intent to not see this alliance as a mere symbolic act." he said with a bit more serious undertone.

The Queen replied ÄH you are talking about the RS situation. I was actually going to present a case before the Parliament  to send a contingent of medical and aid workers to that country. Huisslandia however stands on its policy of neutrality. We will be sending troops, but not in active combat only as a means of protection for the aid workers. Huillandia has a reputation of being a reletively peaceful country and we want it to remain that way. We also need a means to settle some refugees in the aftermath. Which will be discussed with the Huiss department of immigration."

"I'm glad to hear that Huisslandia's true colors are beginning to re-emerge once more, though I would suggest Huisslandia joining the Joint Emergency Team - JET and The International Refugee Support Agency (IRSA), for further ease when it comes to coordination with other actors. Krimeon as noted is currently providing food aid through transport planes, where they landing in Ipsus International Airport and the rest is taken care of by the Royal Seleucid authorities. Of course even if it's rewarding it's certainly risky as well, the first incident got a bit messy, but at least none of our people got hurt." he said standing up once more and walking around the room thinking, praying that there wouldn't be further escalations that it already was.

"Is there anything more my beloved cousin you'd wish to discuss? Otherwise I can bring a few vodka glasses and we can toast for continued Huiss-Krimeon friendship." he said happily.

Queen Heloise smiled “Nothing really on my mind at the moment  In terms of foreign policy, I would like some vodka though. Same would the rest of the family. Vodka from Krimeon is probably much better than that watered-down crap we get at home. It’s strange whenever I come here I always end up drinking vodka” She said in the typical snarky deadpan fashion. It was easy where the princesses got their humor from.

"And every time I visit Huisslandia I Always end up drinking...Oh right I don't since it's what you said, just watered-down crap." the Tsar responded before breaking out in a laugh. "Seriously though your beer alongside ours hold up to the best of World standards. I suppose we can head out back into the arms of our families and drink a bit?" Viktor then gestured Heloise as they exited the room to rejoin the larger Gough family; as they later toasted and drank their Vodka, one could only then sense pride and accomplishment over what was achieved in that reunion, and who knows what more adventures laid ahead?
