7:53AM, onboard the Presidential Train en route from New Kaunderstein to Metria

On his daily commute from his home in Neu Kaunderstein to the capital of Metria, Ebston stared out the window of his train. The trip was nothing noteworthy, the scenery being mostly dimly lit tunnel walls. The majority of this short route weaved underneath the bustling metropolises of the Federal Capital Region, but there were occasional sections of track that were overground. It was at these sections that he took notice of the thin, albeit fresh layer of snow now adorning the rooftops of the cities.

Today's morning in Metria was hazy and cold, as was the usual weather in the Derusmian leadup to winter. As Ebston heard the rushing of freezing air past the window of the train, he had a brief moment of sorrow, knowing that he would also eventually have to step outside and face the temperature. With the deceleration of his train, Ebston stood from his seat and made his way to the vestibule, donning a formal winter coat. His entourage of other government officials making their way to Metria alongside the President and his security detail followed.

"This stop is Neu-Metria, Central Government District.[1] Alight here for the Palast Der Republik." a pre-programmed announcement rang out. Shortly afterwards, the warm air would be forced out in exchange for a freezing breeze as the train's doors glided open. Feish stepped onto the platform as he opened his phone to take another peek at his daily agenda, almost like going through the basic routine of the average city worker. It'd seem normal if the platform weren't so deserted, as they were reserved for NatRail's Special Government Service Division's Neuhauptline trains.

A brisk 5 minute walk from the station and Ebston had already arrived at the Palast Der Republik, the arranged meeting place between him and Governer Anginer of Heyra. 20 more minutes and his office was set up for the meeting. A minute later, and Ebston arrived back in the building's foyer in order to greet his Heyran associate. The two had already met in the past, and it seemed that their two nations were truly on their way to quite the mutual friendship. This upcoming meeting would surely cement it as, if all went well, would prove to be a major advancement for both New Derusmia and Heyra. Upon sighting the Heyran convoy approach from the fog, Feish gave a smile, a genuine grin. Today was looking up to be a good day for the entire nation.

"Governer Anginer, it's a pleasure for me to be hosting you today. I hope you'll come to enjoy our capital city."

As the group made their way down the Palast's entrance pathway, Feish remarked.

"Ah, yes. That's right, the topic of our meeting today. I look forward to hearing more about the proposal you sent to me earlier, it sounds very promising."
 1. In a similar fashion to the IRL Japanese Shinkansen, the New Derusmian Neuhauptline's stations are prefixed with 'Neu'.

"Ah, Chairwoman Therz of course. I hope she has been doing well as of late." Feish replied to Anginer as the two made their way past the Palast's foyer. "..and it is quite surprising to know that you were based in Metria a while back, this city really has grown since then. I believe I was a mere representative in the Assembly around that time.. Anyways, welcome to our humble governmental headquarters. I hope you'll find your visit to this magnificent building as pleasant as your previous time in the capital."

As the two went down a hallway, Governor Anginer gave Feish a gift: A bottle of high quality whiskey, nestled in a wooden box.

“To good times indeed!” Feish replied eagerly to Anginer as he took the box of whiskey into his own hands, grinning at him as he received the gift. “Thank you Governor, I appreciate it very much.”

Taking note of the surprisingly heavy box’s expensive wooden construction, Feish carried it to the end of the hallway before carefully placing it on the table at the designated conference room. The room in question was fairly small, able to accommodate a small group. Modern and luxurious furnishings populated the space, with two armchairs and tables being placed centre stage. Feish would speak first as he spread open the curtains, revealing a wall-spanning window that overlooked the Palast’s park below. The morning sun’s light peeking through the snowy clouds flooded the room to a satisfactory level.

“I’ve chosen this room for its more personal layout, per se. It’s in these conference rooms that Ministers and other Heads of States have held meetings with officials from more cordial nations, and I hope that you’ll enjoy these furnishings during your time here. Judging from the subject of your letter, it seems we may be discussing this prospect until the early evening.”

He invited Anginer to sit down first before sitting down himself. Now fairly settled down and slightly sinking into his armchair, Feish spoke again.

“Now, where shall we begin?”

"Well, I'm all for it." Feish replied at Anginer's mentions of further SANE cooperation. "With no doubts, I can assure you Governor Anginer that the New Derusmians and SANE as a whole have greatly benefited from the newfound friendship between our states. In these times of relative economic stability and unprecedent growth, I believe international cooperation is the greatest of options."

Upon the mention of the Elysium Project, Feish smiled, giving his reply. "I have only heard good things about Elysium, from unpopulated swampland to a full-blown hub of commerce and entertainment renowned throughout the Mid-Aranye in only three years, I'd be a liar if I said the achievement wasn't astounding. Although, I do recall there was an unfortunate military incident last year. My condolences, Governor. " At the mention of the incident, he paused.

"Forgive me, it seems I've gone off topic... Anyways, I presume you've arrived in Metria to propose a similar project in New Derusmia? If that is the case, I would certainly welcome it. A similar project would certainly be of great economic benefit to both our nations, however it would require a significant amount of planning."

“I’d have to agree with you, Governor Anginer, reputation and public perception are of paramount importance in our line of work.” Feish gave a half-smiled reply while recalling the Clypseris fiasco of last year, his own actions causing a collapse in the popularity of his party, the Democratic Socialists. Following that humiliating loss, the DSP’s popularity increased but not to the level it had been at before. Feish’s party had gone from completely ahead of all parties in the Domestic Assembly to barely clinging onto first place, and they were actively losing ground to the likes of the New Derusmian Nationalists.

Considering this, Feish pondered a while on Anginer’s question before replying. “Well, as long as such a project were to go smoothly without excessive delay and needless spending, I believe our government will remain popular in the eyes of the public.” He replied, smiling more sincerely than previously. “Although looking at previous works like Elysium, I doubt any sort of problems would arise in this case.”

"Sernoburg? Good choice, Governor. The city has earnt a new nickname within the recent decade; 'Chamwick of the South', they call it nowadays." Feish said, referring to the heavy concentration of prestigious universities and high tech companies taking residence there recently.

"Naturally, I would have to get in contact with the city's administration for the planning process, but I'm confident that they would accept the idea. A proposal such as this could only aid a city that is already undergoing rapid development. With the location situation, we'd also have to get into contact with the Geographical Commission to find a suitable piece of land off the coast of Sernoburg. Surely it will not be a lengthy process."

“A summit seems like a good idea to me.” Replied Feish. “In a situation like this, I believe fostering both positive, cordial relations and cooperation between the companies of our two nations would be the best course of action.”

Ebston thought a while on the draft he had received earlier after Governor Anginer mentioned it. To his knowledge, there seemed to be no issue other than that of the actual location.

“I think the draft looks fine to me,” Feish had stated. “Although on the issue of the island that this project will break ground on, perhaps it’d be best to seek an advisor? If you wish, I can request a representative of the Geographical Commission to join us for the remainder of the meeting.”
