Diplomacy and Events / Two Weddings No Funerals
« on: December 26, 2018, 03:28:06 PM »

To:- The nations of the world

It is with great delight that the date for the wedding of Queen Klara II and Duke Leopold . It is our honour to also announce that the followings day Lady Roksana will also marry Queen Klara II. As in keeping with the tradition established by Queen Viktoriya the ceremony of the marriage to Duke Leopold will take place in the Temple of the Goddess, sadly this has limited space so will be unable to accomodate all foreign entourages. We therefore request that only Heads of State and their guest attend the ceremony, the exception to this being East Moreland who shall be permitted an extra guest as King David is taking part in the ceremony itself. There shall be a traditional Lodjain ball following the ceremony where any representative of a nation may offer petitions to the new royal couple and extra guests may attend.

The following day the ceremony of Lady Roksana to Queen Klara II shall take place in the market square of old Gaia. This shall be open to any representative of any nation and numbers shall not be limited.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lodja on January 5th 2019.

Soon to be Father of the Guardian

Economics and Industry / Lodjain Merchant Fleet Register
« on: November 13, 2018, 08:51:50 PM »

THE LODJAIN MERCHANT FLEET REGISTER

As with international law all merchant ships must be registered with a nation. As such the Queendom of Lodja is offering nations an oppurtunity to register with our fleet registry therefore allowing them to fly the Lodjain flag.

The advantages of registering with Lodja are as follows.

1) Low tax rates charged on Merchant vessels transactions within Lodja, (currently 2%) and no tax charged on transactions carried out overseas.

2) You're vessels will abide by Lodjain employment law meaning no minimum wage requirements.

3) Annual registration fee of only $1000 per vessel, while slightly more expensive than other nations registration fees the tax rules more than pay for it.

4) Recognition of ownership with every major insurance company.

5) No  restriction  on  the  age  of  the  vessel, however ships older than 20 years will need an international maritime safety certificate.

6) The Lodja ship registry allows dual registration meaning ships can take advantage of our conditions or there home ports at their conveniance.

7) Vessels under construction may be pre-registered allowing them to be transported more easily once completed.

How do you apply to be enrolled on the Lodjain Register of Ships

1. Any vessel under the age of 20 years which has not been involved in an accident of any kind or been involved in any criminal case may be automatically registered if it comes from a nation which is a signatory of the FSC.

2. Should a vessel be over 20 years of age it must have a valid international maritime safety certificate at the time of registration.

3. Transfer the funds and e-mail the registration to the LMFR, upon receipt of the funds and registration your ship will be registered within 8 hours.

4. Once registered with LMFR your vessel must make one stop in Lodja within 12 months, failure to do so prevents renewel.

5. We do not offer registration to vessels carrying fixed armaments.

6. Ships may also pay a $500 annual fee to become a member of the Lodjain Merchant Corporation and therefore register the ship under that name of operator therefore registry checks on owners shall be listed as "LMC"

Diplomacy and Events / A Meeting of Scholars (Missionara and The Watchers)
« on: November 11, 2018, 10:05:52 PM »

To:- The Watchers of The Second Imperial Chinese Republic of the Ming-Brandenburg Throne

We have seen in recent days the creation of your organisation reported by the media. There are many parrallels between yourself and the scholars of the Bene Gesserit faith, the Missionara Protectiva. We have for close to 15 centuries sought out knowledge, kept historical records and employed scholars to research a wide range of subject matter. We are always happy to help others develop their knowledge and beleive that sharing information is the only way to allow the world to prepare for the great catastrophes that are to come to Mundus. If you are willing to exchange information then I would be delighted to open our libaries to your organisation and support the project that you are undertaking.

If you are willing to accept this offer then please feel free to visit our Chapterhouse School in Cantabria where a group of our scholars will be happy to support your work.

Best Regards

Diplomacy and Events / A Hunting Trip to Zimalia
« on: November 04, 2018, 02:38:38 PM »
Briony McLeish and her friend Effie Nevinhad graduated two years ago from the Chapterhouse in Scordisci. They'd both hoped to get positions in the task force sent to Seitch however instead they'd been kept back on effective permanent refresher training. They were therefore both thrilled when they were sent on a mission to Zimalia. The task had been relatively simple infiltrate the country, find Willhelmina and kill her. She'd been responsible for the kidnap and murder of some Uburzis kid and they'd also been involved in some people trafficing, one of those that had been her business partner also helped supply the Bene Gesserit and if she went down so would the whole smuggling ring potentially, therefore she would have to die and so Briony and Effie had been placed ready.

The Cenneg had issued an arrest warrant for her that day and so the two set about getting to work. It was unlikely that the Zimalians would extradite her and even if they did no time soon. It gave the girls a window of oppurtunity and they were not going to mess it up. They'd picked a road, it was about 10km outside Mogebbe and they'd seen her use it at least twice a week when they'd been following her. Once they'd become confident she would be a regular traveller they came back one day when it was dark and placed a series of squib explosives along the side of the road along with a series of devices to launch light shrapnal at the vehicle she was in. Always two bodyguards with her, one in the front and one in the rear, occasionally a second vehicle would follow but she was always in the white Maybach.

It had been two days now since they'd seen the car and Effie looked hopefully down the road through the giant spotting scope. "Briony we're on" she called back to her friend who was preparing a cup of tea on their camping stove. They'd made a bit of a dug out observation post and covered it with netting and from the hide they had a perfect view down the road. Effie picked up the triggers for the devices while Briony settled herslf down behind the snipers rifle. It wasn't a hard shot to set up and the white marker stones they'd strategically placed helped her get everything set quickly.

"We're on the count" Briony said as she took aim at the cars engine block. "3-2-1" she pulled the trigger sending the round spinning the 500 or so meters. They saw the car skid and struggle to stay on the road as oil and water spewed out of the hole in the engine block. The car came to an undiginied stop and only around 15 meters away from the devices they'd put at the road side, they hadn't expected it to take the car so long to stop. Effie pressed the button and a series of high pitched cracks went off sounding like gunfire. One of the bodyguards got out preparing to fight off the attackers and scanned the area, the second set of squibs went off just as the rear bodyguard began moving Wilhemenia towards the safety the nearby roadside ditch would provide.

"Shot away" Briony said as she squeezed the trigger again. It was as though a hand grenade had gone off in the centre of Wilhemenia's chest and she hit the dirt, Effie was already making her way down to road side, they had no idea how long they'd have for the next part especially if they'd had the chance to call for help. Effie heard two more cracks of the rifle as Briony dispatched the other two. By now Effie had reached the body of Wilhemenia. She knelt down, muttered the literny against fear and then using the battery powered saw they'd brought removed Wilhemenas head placing it on the sharpened stake they'd prepared nearby in the ditch. She forced the head onto it squirming a little at the sight and sound of the blood. Her job done she set off back to Briony where they filled in the hide quickly. It took them thirty minutes as as they folded up the netting and headed over the ridge a security forces car came into view. The pair began running away making sure by the time the Zimalians started any search they'd be long gone. The sight of a severed head on a spike with the sign underneath saying "Wilhemenia, Murderer of Children, Slave Trader. Scumbag. Justice is Done."

After the four hour wander through Zimalia the two girls had returned to their safari lodge they were staying at, showered and were sat enjoying a beer and steak on the terreace as the photos of the head they'd set up was sent to HQ and from their onto their contact in Neu Uburzis

Diplomacy and Events / Spice Harvest in Exile
« on: October 21, 2018, 10:06:53 PM »
OOC- Thanks to Nord for the use of a UC town.

Tavanagh Estate had been purchased by the first Corrino into Ui Cenneslaig, the vast funds they'd brought with them from Kaitaine. It had helped the Corrino's embed themselves in the upper echelons of Cenneg society and build themselves a rather useful nest egg while in exile. The children of the Corrino family had been indoctrinated just as you'd have expected from the family that carried great pressure to produce the Kwizach Hadrach but they'd also wanted for nothing growing up first in the countryside and then at age 11 heading into Claith, the girls often heading through Chapterhouse while the boys had attended prestigious boarding schools. They'd hidden themselves well and even become friendly with the Cenneg royal family, all the time keeping their own faith suppressed. Now though they had the freedom to do what they wanted religiously and that was a great relief to Duke Niklaus Corrino.

It was custom every year until the Corrino's had fled Seitch that after the spice harvest the Corrino's had invited everyone of note to the Red Palace on the edge of the desert to enjoy the blessing of the harvest of the deep dark red spice for the year ahead, and of course to use up the last of the year befores. This was the first year in exile though that they could celebrate but even that had been an effort. In the spice tanks of Seitch, now freed from Communist rule, the handful of people in the city that was now named as the capital of the Theocracy of Kaitaine had been hard at work. They'd first removed the giant wooden stoppers that sat at the bottom of the spice tanks, wave after wave of sand slipped through being caught in large seives, the Truthsayers under the guidance of the Missionara sifted the sand and found both the sandworms and their newly shedded skins, the sand was captured in a bottom tank and more workers instantly began using it to refill the now empty tank. The worms where checked, the dead ones discarded while those who still looked healthy were added back to the refilling upper tank. The discarded sandworm shells where then taken away in baskets and ground into a fine red powder. For the first time in over a century the millstones worked day and night producing the rich red dust known as Melange, many of the younger Bene Gesserit had never consumed it and now gathered for their first taste. Some fell into a trance, visions of giant sandworms, great monsterious Gods and monsters dancing through their vision while others just enjoyed the taste despite no two girls agreeing as to what it actually was.

The day after Kristen Steakes had lead a convoy of thirty Truthsayers across the desert, each carrying a backpack full of the fine red powder in addition to their usual light battle load. 150kg of the precious spice marched to the border with Rodinha where it was handed over to the Sisterhoods supply chain there and flown out first to Paracambi and then to Ui Cenneslaig. As the packages, marked as cinnamon, where handed over to the Duke he felt a few tears trickle down his face as he was happy that his faith had their sacred power back.

AN INVITATION TO BLESS THE SPICE

On behalf of the Bene Gesserit faith it is my honour to announce a successful harvest of the Spice Melange. This sacred spice is central to our faiths rituals and culture, we therefore see this as cause for a great celebration. Back home in the Theocracy of Kaitaine we would hold a great feast in the Red Palace that sits on the edge of the desert of Seitch, however this is not possible as the capital of the Theocracy is currently a target of ursurpers from the Soviets. As such we are this year moving the celebration to my family estate in Tavanagh, Ui Cenneslaig. All are invited to come and attend, something that may provide many with an oppurtunity to meet the Head of State in Exile, Reverned Mother Erin McGregor.

We look forward to meeting you all.

Signed

Duke Niklaus Corrino

The day had come Duke Niklaus and the Corrino family stood waiting to greet their guests, as had been arranged the three other Holy houses had arrived first and now each had a representative stood with Niklaus, it was deemed to be neccessary so that no family were seen above the others. Verspasian Atredies had flown in from Achkaerin the evening before, he'd headed over and enjoyed a drink or two with Niklaus and was rather looking forward to the festivities, he was a young man who always seemed so somber and reserved but when he let himself go he properly let himself go. Next there was Jonathon Harkonnen the youngest of the three Harkonnen boys. He was a keen sportsman and could have represented Scordisci, the Harkonnen adopted home at the Mundus Games had it not been for his hips being problematic. Lydia Fremen made up the last of the Holy House representatives. She looked smart in her khaki Truthsayer dress uniform, the Jeboah proudly displayed on her cap badge. She would have liked to have been in Seitch with her fellow Sisters but she'd been denied the chance and so was stuck on diplomatic duty. The four chatted as they waited for the first guests to arrive.

Diplomacy and Events / A meal with Munseki
« on: September 15, 2018, 09:04:30 PM »

To:- Ambassador Scott

It is with great pleasure that I have been assigned a duty by my Queen to ensure future good relationships between our nations. We share the continent of Albion and are members of the Council of Albion yet beyond that we share very little. As such I would like to try and change that so I would request the pleasure of your company at this weeks Dynamo Gaia football match as they take on local rivals Spartak F.C, there is no better way of getting to know the city you are presently calling home than understanding this rivalry. Afterwards I hope you will join me for supper so we can discuss the great future between our nations.

Best Regards

Lord Besarian Ivanov
Lord of the Conclave.

It was the biggest fixture in the Lodjain footballing calender, the pale blues of Dynamo versus the Green's of Spartak. Football was really a game for the Plebs but it had grown more and more in the last five years and now it was a great way of looking like a man of the people. Besarian managed to feign a real love of the game and had made a point of buying an executive box right on the halfway line at Dynamo's stadium. He attended every game that he could and usually filled the box with people he needed to keep sweet. Tonight the streets had already been filled with the crowd surging towards the ground and even with a slight chill in the air people proudly displayed their colours. Besarian avoided the chill in the temperature controlled box with the sound of the crowd pumped in and controlable, the leather armchairs and big screens meaning they got the live view and all the angles on all the action. Besarian had his personal chef cooking up a selection of chicken strips, mini tacos and some some nice chorizo and cheese pastries.

Duke Thikon was enjoying standing on the boxes balcony with a bottled beer in his hand enjoying watching the pyro displays of the two teams as the fans began tuning their voices ready for kick off. Anna Utkin, the Representative of the Plebs and Minister for Social Affairs appeared behind him. "Spartak to win 2-1" she said proudly wearing her green shirt. She had grown up a pleb and only by virtue of meeting a noble husband at a rock concert has she climbed the social hierachy that defined life in Lodja. Now her husband was passed on, died in a bungled burglary eight years ago. She'd used his estate and wealth as well as her newly acquired title as a Duchess to try and look after the poor as best she could, but football was still in her blood.

"A thousand says Dynamo win" Thikon said as he turned round, his eyes rolling slightly at the sight of the Pleblian football shirt.

"You're on" Anna said shaking his hand.

Besarian was hovering by the Executive Box door, a glass of red wine in his hand watching his chef busy himself in the small kitchen. He found cooking fascinating despite hardly ever having done any himself. He was waiting for his guest of honour to arrive as well as indulging his interest of seeing food created.

Convention Centre / The Chapterhouse Lectures
« on: September 12, 2018, 09:53:55 AM »

AN OPEN INVITE

Every year the four Chapterhouse Schools (Ui Cennesliag, Cantabria, Achkaerin and TBC) around Mundus see hundreds of girls graduate from our academic courses. Traditionally these students have always achieved highly and many have gone onto great things. It is a tradition that during the week of their graduation celebrations in Claith that a series of guest lectures take place.

The graduation is a highly symbolic and important moment in the life of Bene Gesserit Sister as it marks her transition from a student to a teacher of the faith as such the graduation week sees many graduates of our school return to celebrate alongside their new Sisters. We also welcome many of the leading Bene Gesserit families who help support our academic excellence. This year though marks the first time we have publically seen students graduate, the ceremony has always been a private Bene Gesserit occasion and held under the guise of a school sporting festival. The Reverened Mother however has recently stated the intent for the faith to no longer be in the shadows and while many nations across Mundus view us with suspicion it is through getting to know us through events such as this that you will realise our faith desires only one thing and that is a better life for all on Mundus.

As such we are this year opening invites to non-Bene Gesserit to speak at the Lectures. In previous years lectures have included topics ranging from those about other faiths, to scientific discovery, history and even dance. We therefore welcome applications from any individual, government or organisation to come and give a lecture. We shall also be willing to allow any organisation or government to send a delegate to join the celebration and witness the lectures which will conclude with Reverenda Mother Erin McGregor presenting new graduates with their accreditation as a full Bene Gesserit Sister.

Applications to speak should be sent to Chapterhouse Leader Belinda Causon (Missionara Protectiva) stating who you are, who you represent (if anyone) and the topic for your talk. Applications to attend should be addressed to the same individual and include details of your full title, who you represent and any requests for your stay, such as a request for an audience with any of the heads of the Four Branches of the Sisterhood or the Reverned Mother.

We look forward to welcoming you to Chapterhouse.

Duchess Lena Atreides

Chair of the Chapterhouse Lectures Association.

Sporting Hub / Mundus Games 2018 - IC
« on: August 29, 2018, 11:56:11 PM »
The city of Arrakeen was relatively speaking a narrow strip of land between the ocean and the hills that seperated the city from the more arid interior of the nation of Kaitaine. Preparations had been underway for weeks with regular rehearsals and now thousands of military personnel from the KDF patrolled the streets while others had become part of the Games in tracksuits and flouresent vests guiding the visitors to the stadium where the Games would take place. The wonder of the occasion began though as soon as one stepped out the airport. The usual phalanx of armoured vehicles that guarded the place remained, but instead of the drab green they were painted bright colours. Even around the city it was a common sight to see a tank or APC on patrol and in some cases the armours crew became as well known to the locals as the postman. They'd original complained as school children were invited to decorate each tank and now some sported connections to their neighbourhood, such as the Dockside tank being painted to resemble a sailors uniform much to the annoyance of its crew. Some tourists posed for photos by some of the more amusing paint jobs and the soldiers, as instructed by Vice President Pasternak smiled warmly, even allowing young visitors to wear their hats.

The stadium filled up quickly as the staff inside ushered people to their seats. Once the appointed hour was at hand the opening ceremony began. Of course it reflected the nations Celtic and Rus pass with massed bands of pipers entering the arena and playing a medlay of various tunes as boys and girls in traditional Rus and Celtic outfits carried out intricate dance routines. Next as the pipers left their was a display of horsemanship with riders who had learned their trade at the Cossack school in the USR and now passed on the dismounts, vaults and other tricks they'd been taught to their next generation. The thunder of the hooves amplified by microphones it felt like the whole stadium was shaking only subsiding slightly as the last horse sprinted from the arena, its rider standing proudly on its back as he waved farewell.

As soon as the horses left the camels entered the arena reflecting the desert that formed the interior of the nation and each camel wore material draped over its humps to represent all the competing nations, the animals paraded cavorting much the same steps as the horses in the dressage would in the coming days but rather than alone they did so in ranks like soldiers. It was only when the humped beasts departed that the KDF entered the arena and gave a near perfect display of military drill a rousing soundtrack playing over the stadium speakers their clashing feet providing the percussion to the sound. They formed intricate outlines that observed from above or on the big screen represented each of the sports and with the last event marked out they left but not before firing five volleys of gunfire as President McPherson and his VP Pasternak entered the VIP box followed by several others.

The arena went dark with a single spot light picking out a young boy it was only when it appeared on the big screen it was visible that he had only one arm the other was a prosthetic painted in national colours. In his good arm he held the Games Flame a large silver coloured column with a visible flame at the top. "Ladies and Gentleman" the announcer said in a variety of languages, "Please welcome to the arena, Stuart McCormack. The 10 year old boy who won a competition to design the games mascot."A fanfare played and a large Tortoise mascot appeared. "Sheldon was selected as the mascot as he represents the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, reminding all competitors that they shouldn't give up despite the odds. Stuart himself embodies that having drawn the original sketches of Sheldon just six weeks after losing his arm in a Truthsayer terrorist attack. We salute the young mans courage by allowing him to present the Games Flame." The boy and the giant upright Tortoise walked down the centre of the arena as McPherson walked down the steps to meet him. At the bottom the trio made their way to a giant glass bowl arranged at ground level at one end of the stadium. McPherson took the flame and smiled at Stuart.

"Ladies and Gentleman, I thank you all for giving our nation the chance to host the games that embody the best of Mundus. The spirit of dedication and friendship are what make these games special. I wish all competitors the best over the next few days and hope you all enjoy your stay in our home. I now declare these games open." and with that the President lit the bowl which then moved on a series of steps until it reached the roof of the arena.

« on: July 29, 2018, 01:49:46 AM »

Despite recent announcements by Rokkenjima recognising the Heyran sovereignty over Barnacle Island the Queendom of Lodja does not recognise this. Lodja still recognises the de facto sovereignty of Heyra over the Northern islands and Himeyama over the southern.[1] Despite claims by Rokkenjima of their being a failure of Himeyama to " mount any effective response" to the tsunami we can confirm that in Himeyama territory Lodjain forces are in contact with aid efforts from that nation. Furthermore it is worth noting that while Heyra escaped the impact of the tsunami the mainland of Himeyama did not. Lodja therefore offers $800million to Himeyama to support their reconstruction and aid effort both in their homeland and their section of the islands.
 1. Think that was the division, essentially whatever it was pre-tsunami

The Island nations of the Alucard recognise that they face unique and common difficulties. These nations further recognise that by working together they are more likely to overcome these problems. Additionally the nations realise that when one of them prospers so can the others and that through mutual co-operation in certain fields all nations may prosper.

In order to achieve this the nations of TUNA agree to the following.

1. That any nation with  territory in the Sea of Alucard may affirm this Treaty and receive the full benefits so long as they accept the responsibilities outlined.

2. All signatories recognise the territorial waters of the others as determined by the Free Seas Concordt.

2.1 Nations agree to not build artificial islands for the purpose of expanding their territorial waters or EEZ's.

2.2 Nations may construct said islands but recognise that they shall not be included in waters as directed by the FSC.

3. Any waters outside the Exclusive Economic Zone of signatory nations shall be divided into Patrol Areas, one for each nation. Within these Patrol Areas the Navy of the allocated nation shall assume control of co-ordinating the following operations.

a) Anti-Piracy Operations
b) Anti-Smuggling Operations
c) Search and Rescue Operations

4. Signatory nations shall share information regarding criminal and terrorist activity so long as the sharing of that information does not endanger the nations national security.

5. Signatory nations shall seek to work together to reduce pollution in the Sea of Alucard. All member nations will be required to fund an equal share of the Alucard Plastic Clean up system (Approx $60million a year for the project)

6. Signatory nations shall seek to work together to reduce climate change as we recognise that our homes are among the most threatened areas of Mundus in this regard. In order to do this the signatory nations shall seek to co-operate in international organisations to influence global or regional legislation.

7. Signatory nations agree to ensure port fees for other signatory nations are equal to or lower than non signatory nations.

8. Signatory nations agree to reduce tariffs between each other to levels lower than non signatory nations excluding those covered by specific treaties.

9. Signatory nations meet once a year as a minimum to discuss issues of concern to each nation.

10. The nations of this treaty agree to live peacefully with each other and use international organisations to arbitrate any disputes between them.

11. Nations agree to establish an embassy in each of the others. Should the Head of State of a signatory nation request it the Ambassador must present themselves within 24 hours.

12. TUNA recognise the Water Nomads as one of many indigenous groups that have managed to maintain their way of life. As a result this organisation shall commit to, wherever possible, supporting their way of life. As such the organisation shall adopt the following measures.

Measures

1) Water Nomads in environmentally serviceable vessels may freely travel through the waters of member nations.
2) Water Nomdas shall face no restrictions on the use of a nations EEZ beyond those placed on citizens of the nation of which EEZ they are in.
3) Water Nomads shall be permitted to stay in the water of a member nation, so long as they comply with said nations rules of use of the EEZ, indefinitely.

In addition the following processes shall be applied to the Water Nomads.

Processes

a) Any Water Nomad wishing to leave their traditional way of life behind will be supported to do so by members of this organisation.
b) Water Nomads presenting themselves at an official port of entry to a TUNA member nation shall be granted 12 months residency and must be treated as a citizen during that time

To:- Duke David Aragon

The Bene Gesserit sisterhood is one dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and preparing it for the coming of a future great disaster. It is believed at that time a great saviour known as the Kwizach Haderach will come forth and work alongside us to ensure the survival of mankind. We believe that this has happened once before in the past, however the great disaster means we lost much of our great knowledge and relationship with the powers of the Universe. I represent a group of Bene Gesserit scholars who are convinced that this Kwizach Haderach was Jesus Christ, he exhibited great power of nature, was a learned scholar and clearly beloved of God/Gods. It is with this in mind that we ask to be permitted to build a place of meditation at two sites within the city of Jerusalem. The first being Golgotha and the second at the Church of the Holy Archangels. It is our hope that by allowing our followers to access and meditate at these sites we will gain a better understanding of the will of God/Gods and as such better prepare ourselves for the future.

Additionally we request permission for the construction of a library, which would be open for the public, as close to these sites as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope for a positive outcome

The Other World / Mortal Engines RP Idea
« on: June 18, 2018, 09:37:54 AM »
17 years ago I stumbled across a book called Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve, it was great. It essentially features a fantasy world based on Earth where resources are running out and so towns, cities and villages have gone mobile. The story centre on London as it hunts smaller settlements for resources. Outside the cities are kind of rouge elements like pirates and the like. Its pretty Steampunky

I'm thinking of a TIO version. It's set in a time similar in tech to the early 1900's but resources such as coal and metal ores are running low, so wood has become the main fuel source and you get metal by recycling smaller settlements. I propose that we have it set at such a time as there are few cities left and perhaps continents. So I'm going to suggest it gets set on say "Albion" giant mega moving settlement featuring levels made up of each nation on the continent.

Is there any interest?

OOC- Takes place post Polo Tournament

Queen Klara wasn't the most familiar with the military but she did know how to read a review and the one that had been presented to the Conclave was damning. At best it made her people look incompetent, at worst like made them look corrupt and incompetent. She'd promised that there would be something done and that had to start soon, as they say a fish rots from the head and so there had been little choice other than to decapitate each of the armed forces, not however literally, at least not yet.

The Queen had issued warrants for the arrest of each of them and had dispatched members of her own security detail to oversee the arrests. She knew that there was a good likelihood these commanders were friends with other leading members of the nobility and those had influence in the courts, the police force and well beyond. The first of the three to receive a visit was Air Commodore Yuri Lagunov, he was a Baron himself and had been in the Air Force since the age of 17 after he had persuaded his father to buy him a commission as a Pilot Officer almost 60 years earlier. He'd a record which on paper looked superb, but as events of the last 48 hours had shown a great deal about the paper Air-Force was wrong. He'd been traced to his family home in Leublin and looked almost like he was about to burst into tears when the Police arrived. As Stoya Luzhnhy, the Queen's representative on the arrest had guessed the man offered bribes, money, cars, anything your heart could imagine to not arrest him and let him leave the country. Stoya wondered whether if she wasn't here anyone would have taken the offer but she felt satisfied with the first visit of the day after the handcuffs had snapped shut.

Next they were off to the coastal village of Brahel where Admiral of the Fleet Rafail Vasilev resided and where local assets had already confirmed he was there. As the team approached he appeared on the steps of his luxurious whitewashed home a pistol pointing to his own head. "I demand to be given passage to the Isle of Alucard Minor" he said firmly, this demand seemed strange and one Stoya would make a note of looking into once this was all done. The Police began backing away unsure what to do, Vasilev had been at one point part of the Conclave and was a well liked Patrician among Lodjain society. He walked towards his car and Stoya was one of the few who didn't back away. "I warn you, back away or I shall shoot myself." He yelled at her.

"Feel free" Stoya didn't even look for cover and simply rested her hand on the pistol strapped to her hip. "Saves us a job" she shrugged as she continued walking forward. The Admirals hand quivered as she strode towards him as he repeated his threat to suicide himself. Stoya got close enough that she could reach out and grab the pistol as the man sunk to his knees in tears. "Get him out of here" she removed the magazine, which was empty anyway, and tossed both weapon and magazine onto the grass.

Finally they came to Field Marshall Givi Sokolov's home, unlike the others he had seemingly vanished into thin air, his home however did have a few boxes of supplies in the basement, crates of weapons, ammunition, even a Ground Strike style desert buggy stashed in his triple garage. It was clear Sokolov was as guilty of the Armies corruption as could be. Several thousand miles away he smiled as he saw reports of his two former friends being arrested. He was enjoying the sunny weather of Mountjoy with his friend Albanus Ares and his family, he'd amassed enough money to live comfortably but he still had a few tricks up his sleeve.

The Queen's Invitational Polo Tournament is one of the highlights of the Lodjain social calender. Teams from across the Queendom compete to win invites along with various invitational teams, this year including one from Némérie following an invite issued by Queen Viktoria during her visit there, this invite being honoured by Queen Klara.

The tournament win see two groups, each team playing the other three in their group during Day 1. On the 2nd day of the tournament the Top 2 teams from each group will play for the Queen's Cup, while the bottom two for the Queen's Shield. The event also features many oppurtunities for networking and socialisation.

OOC- Everyone is invited, you can send someone official if you like or just a fan. If you want you can have someone from your team in one of the two Invitational Teams.

Duke Thikon had been given the honour of captaining the Queen's team, the only ones permitted to wear blue and gold colours, remanisant of the Queen's own dress. He had arrived at the Gaia Equestrian Centre where the tournament was to take place. A vast expanse of rolling fields with complexes for showjumping, dressage and most importantly polo fields. Crisp white marquee style tents lined the sides of the pitches, some for the teams to relax in between games, others providing dining oppurtunities or even just bars stocked with all manner of drinks. Thikon had played here once before, he'd been part of the Isle of Tar team two years ago as an unused substitute. It didn't matter as it was good enough just to be seen here as to actually play. Already some four hours before the first game the odd pony was being trotted around by some members of vairous teams and crowds where beginning to gather. Thikon had found their teams tent and was busy changing when a voice announced the arrival of the Queen. "Your Divine Majesty" Thikon bowed as he finished pulling on his shirt.

"Duke Thikon" Klara looked around the tent where several others now noticing her arrival stood. "I just wanted to wish you all good luck and that I expect victory or else" she had a stern look on her face and several team members looked nervous, suddenly Klara burst out laughing, "No seriously I hope you win but I want you to simply play hard, play fair and enjoy yourselves. Her eyes cast towards the back of the tent where Dragan Knežević, her finance minister stood shirtless unsure if it would be seen impolite to continue his preparations. He'd been asked to play for the Queen, ignored for selection by Besarain the leader of the Conclave but he wasn't really bothered, he just enjoyed the game. "Nice to see you Minister" Klara smiled and left followed by Lady Anna Immich and Lady Roksana Pajari, two of her Ladies in Waiting. Once outside she made her way to the tent where they were serving breakfast and ordered a poached egg on toast. "Minister Knežević is single isn't he?" Klara asked, and noticed Roksana look concerned, the two had become bed fellows since the coronation and now the Queen seeming to show interest in someone else worried her.

"Yes Ma'am" Anna said as she poured the Queen a cup of coffee.

"And he isn't actually a Lord in his own right is he?" Klara asked again, she was still getting her head around all the affairs of who was who in court.

"No Ma'am, his elder brother holds the family titles." Anna explained.

"Hmmm....so not that eligable....we may have to do something about that" she smiled at Roksana noticing a slight jealousy in her lovers face but not really caring. The tent was filling up slowly with various players, government officials and the wealthy of Lodja.

Duchess Ekaterina Stasiuk sat in one corner keen to see who of note would arrive. She'd just become the Mother in Law of the King of Royal Seleucid, a man nearly thirty years older than her, a thought that amused her. She found events like this always one worth attending however. She'd meet the first of her two husbands here and that had been a very profitable arrangment for both of them.

Diplomacy and Events / OOC - Wanted location for one RP Setting
« on: May 15, 2018, 12:35:35 AM »
OK here is the deal for everyone.

In the mid 1850's Kaitaine was invaded by the nation of Rodinha and Communism imposed on the nation. Previously the nation had been a theocracy under the Bene Gesserit faith.

This faith has no real set doctrine and officially prays to God/Gods. The faith is based around the belief that a great danger to mankind is coming and has come in the past. The Bene Gesserit are mankinds defence against this and must gain great knowledge in order to prepare. To aid mankind the first time a supreme being was created but in the tragedy was destroyed, their spirt passing into mankind. As such four holy houses exists considered each to have some aspects of this spirit. After the fall of Kaitaine these families were spread across Mundus and took exiles with them as they went into hiding.

Soon they set up a copy of the Bene Gesserit training school in Kaitaine called Chapterhouse. This is essentially a private, selective all girls boarding school. There is one in Ui Cennesliag, Mountjoy and Achkaerin. With the one in Himeyama needing to be OOCly replaced.

In terms of RP it would mean.

1. A large number of celtic Bene Gesserit have been hiding in your nation as members of your community for over 100 years.

2. The school has managed to keep itself self governing for a while.

3. The Bene Gesserit faith has been revealed in the last few months, there have been several terror attacks connected to them, but they have also been the target of KGB assassination attempts.

4. The Bene Gesserit faith has a Pope like figure called the Reverned Mother who is currently 19 year old Erin McGregor who resides in Ui Cenneslaig.

5. The Bene Gesserit have a paramilitary unit called the Truthsayers, some of whom are currently staging a coup in Kaitaine.

6. Only     Neu Uburzis, Ui Cenneslaig and Mountjoy have established official communication with the Bene Gesserit while Achkaerin have a covert connection.

More details on the Bene Gesserit faith can be found here

Happy to answer any questions, should anyone wish to step forward I'm happy to consider anyone.

The Pelagiya Family, Northfort, East Moreland

"It's a little small" Duke Tobias said as he looked at the house. The Duke had spent most of his adult life dealing with property but it tended to be more grand than this, if truth be told the house looked like it had seen better days, the plaster was peeling from the walls exposing brick work and the glass in the windows was cracked. Inside the walls where in no better condition with mould and damp infesting them. No one had lived here for around 100 years and it was clear to see from the state of it, yet here he was considering buying it.

"Daddy you just don't get it do you" his daughter, the Lady in Waiting for Queen Klara, Stasya cut in as she twirled in one of the rooms. "It could be magnificent, imagine it" she stopped and ran hands across one of the walls, flaking brickwork dropping with the sweep of her hand, "Solid oak panneling, beautiful art works hanging from the wall, an ensuite bathroom could go here" she'd moved towards a corner of the room, and here a magnificent four post bed."

"She's just thinking of fucking her King on it" her younger brother, the 16 year old Henrik cut in, earning himself a scowl from his mother Anoushka. The family were fully aware of Stasya's relationship with King David of East Moreland, her parents had encouraged it even and why wouldn't they? The Morelander King was unmarried, handsome, rich and very influential, to have a marriage to such a man would advance the families fortunes and that was what really mattered, that the Pelagiya name was left in a better and wealthier place than when they'd entered the world. Even if Stasya couldn't marry the man being his lover, or mistress even was still a bonus. It had been that connection that had got Tobias permission to even view the old cottage in the parkland of the Royal Palace, it may lay outside the King's personal grounds but looking out the rear window, once you'd wiped nearly a centuries worth of grime from it, you could see the King's Palace.

"Quiet Henrik" Anoushka hissed at her son. "Stasya you ignore him dear, the Goddess blessed you with beauty and its a tool to help your family. You're blessed" ironically Anoushka didn't know her own daughter had turned away from Sessifet, she had been forced eight years ago to learn about Moreland and their culture, her father predicting that one day the nation would be a useful partner and now he'd been proved right. That study however had lead Stasya to accept the teachings of the Cult of Helus, although she wasn't particularly spiritual she found particular affection for Marissa, the Goddess of Beauty and Fertility, a Goddess she suspected was very similar to Sessifet. It had been her knowledge of Morelandish and the Cult that had endeared her to David and now as Henrik had pointed out his bed.

"Look its an ideal location, literally the King's backyard. It'd be handy for meetings, has nice riding tracks and the royals will know when your here even if your not officially on business. I know that Dave....I mean the King....would feel obliged to offer his hospitality to a noble so close the Palace, imagine the access you'd get" Stasya wasn't entirely sure about that but what she did know was that it would allow her to discreetly come and go from the Palace without the media noticing. The King visiting Iskor had got the Lodjain press talking, they'd suggested though it was Anoushka who was romancing King David perhaps looking for her 2nd husband. Her mother had laughed at the idea, not because she wouldn't take a 2nd husband after all that was permitted in Lodja but what she found amusing was that her daughter had snared the Morelander monarch and the media were so close to the truth.

"Hmmm" was all Tobias would say. "I suspect your mother would enjoy it as a little project a fixer upper so to speak" he looked around at the Morelander estate agent wondered what the Lodjains were saying. "Tell him that I'll give him 3/4 the asking price because it needs a lot of work." Stasya translated and the estate agent scribbled down some information and then spoke to Stasya.

"He says he'll make the call now" Stasya translated for her father as she looked at her diamond encrusted watch.

"Got plans?" Henrik teased, he'd heard her on the phone earlier speaking Morelandish, his knowledge of the language minor but he'd picked up the Kings name often enough and the tone had been soppy. "Audience at the Palace?" he chuckled. The estate agent reappeared a rather pleased look on his face as he spoke to Stasya.

"He say's its been accepted" Stasya watced as her father shook the mans hand and began writing a cheque.

"You better start planning the rebuild" Tobias hugged his wife. "I suspect it'll cost us a pretty penny but the location is perfect for what we need, and after all we'll not be here all the time."

"You need me anymore" Stasya asked looking once more at her watch. Her father didn't and so Stasya picked up her hand bag and headed off. She made her way past where she'd parked her car on the path towards the Palace and after just twenty meters stopped and reached into her bag. She found the small condom packet in her side pocket and removed the brooch from her jacket, carefully with the pin she gently pricked the packet before replacing both items. She walked another twenty meters or so and found the gate, CCTV cameras topped it and she suspected a Red Legionnaire would be watching, it didn't matter as David was stood there, a key in hand he opened the gate and watched the leggy Lady in Waiting step into the Palace grounds. The pair kissed before David took hold of her hand.

"I missed you" the King said like a soppy school boy. "I thought we could go for a ride around the estate, you got time to stay for dinner." he asked hopefully. They began walking back towards the stables close to the Palace but as they walked through the woodland she stopped him.

"It's been nearly a month" she pushed him up against the tree "Don't you want me?" she asked as she pushed her body against his, "I want you" her fingers began unbuttoning his shirt as his lips found hers. She wasn't worried about being discovered, she knew the Palace perimeter was watched like a hawk but here in the dead ground of the copse they were invisible. "Wait" the pair were naked now, their clothing lost in the surrounding bushes she reached back found her purse and unzipped the side pocket. "Better safe than sorry" she smiled as she handed the King the condom she'd tampered with, she didn't really want to get pregnant, it would ruin her figure, but her mother had convinced her that the King was a man of honour and he'd be forced to marry her sealing the families influence both at home, and more importantly abroad.

Diplomacy and Events / Lodjain Court Part 2: New Queen=New Thread
« on: May 10, 2018, 11:59:57 PM »
OOC- UC characters loaned from Kris.

Jasmina Danailov couldn't believe the way her life had changed in the last year or so. She was due to turn 20 in a few short weeks and just over a year ago now she had nearly ended up as Queen of her homeland, Lodja. Since then she'd become a Lady in Waiting, a job that many people unfamiliar with Lodjain culture may see as below a daughter of a nobleman, but here in Gaia the four Ladies in Waiting had the ear of the Goddess. They spent all their time with her, knew the inner workings of the court, learned the best connections for their families and as such had all seen their families fortunes, fates and futures prosper. That rather shy 18 year old who had been whisked to the Isle of the Goddess had changed too, the shyness was gone, at least in private, one thing being a Lady in Waiting taught was to to create almost two people, the public face who supported the Queen no matter what, and then then private behind closed doors facade, the one which like tonight was allowed to take advantage of the position.  Jasmina had played that later part excellenctly and had both the Lord of the Conclave, Besarian Ivanov and the Prince of Ui Cennesliag, the handsome and rugged Prince Lennox wrapped around her little finger. Both where besotted with the young flame haired vixen and that was exactly how she liked it both almost competing for her affections. If she was being honest though it was Lennox she cared for, there was a less serious nature about him, Besarian was as Jasmina knew using her just as much as she was using him. The Lord ever hopeful of gaining insights into the Queen's thoughts that may manover him into a position of greater influence. This evening however it was Lennox who had enjoyed Jasmina's affections, the pair returning on the Prince's private motor launch that now ferried them back from the mainland to the island. It was well known Jasmina kept Lennox's company often, but a visiting royal to Lodja was often "loaned" one of the Ladies in Waiting whom was ordered to do whatever it took to ensure the visitor had a pleasant stay. Stasya Pelagiya had also played that role to perfection and just as Jasmina had with Lennox the newest Lady in Waiting had snared herself the King of East Moreland. Lennox however was, as far as Jasmina was concerned, a better catch. David needed to constantly worry about the Kingdom he owned, his image and the like however Lennox cared only for himself and the way he could help his homeland of Ui Cenneslaig.

As the boat bounced its way across back to the island Lennox wrapped Jasmina in his jacket before pulling her close. It was a short journey but one her rather enjoyed, the smell of the ocean and the warmth of Jasmina evoking pleasant thoughts. He felt her nuzzle into his shoulder as she wrapped an arm around his midrift, he was content to just sit there as his aide guided the boat towards the single light that marked the jetty. It was 2am, the pair of lovers having spent the evening at a nice restaurant in the city before enjoying a stoll back along the beach where they made love. Lennox's blissful relaxation was halted only when the boat gently nudged the jetty and a Lodjain guard helped tie it up. "Good evening Your Highness.....My Lady" the young Guardsman saluted once his hands were free of the rope and Lennox returned his respects with a polite nod. The pair of lovebirds walked arm in arm back up to the Palace unaware of the eyes watching them.

Once inside the Palace Lennox walked Jasmina to her appartment and as the pair kissed he began to come inside, Jasmina placed a hand in his chest and stopped him. "Not tonight. I'm waking the Queen in...." she glanced at her watch, "damn, four hours...and we do have a busy day" she kissed him once more before parting company. Lennox walked back to his own set of rooms at the opposite side of the Palace, he passed a few gaurdsman patrolling the hallways and exchanged silent nods with them. He knew many of them, prefering to spend his time with military folk when not with Jasmina he had found them to be rather good company. As he reached his suite he fumbled for the key in his pocket, finding it full of sand he laughed. The door swung open and there facing his was his wife, Mary. She was a Princess of Cantabria and his father had insisted he marry her to ensure the friendship between the two nations, it was therefore rather ironic that Lennox's younger sister ten years later married a Canatabrian Prince for the same reason and was now Queen of that hell hole. The problem was Mary was popular back home and as such despite Lennox's pleading he'd not been permitted to divorce the frumpy cow.

"I saw you with her" she snarled, her hair a twirling mess of brown curls. "I warned you to stay away from her. Last time I just slapped her, I'll do worse next time I see her." Lennox just gently moved her aside and walked in. He'd been sleeping in the spare room for a few weeks now anyway, sometimes because of the arguements ever since Mary had guessed he was screwing Jasmina, it had lead to the Princess slapping the Lady in Waiting across the face and his wife had only narrowly avoided the wrath of the Palace guard, among whom the Ladies in Waiting where seen as precious flowers. Lennox just placed his jacket on a chair and headed for the room, he'd make an excuse to go to the military barracks in Gaia for a few days until she'd calmed down. This time though it was different, she launched herself at his back her arm locking around his throat in a strong choke hold. Her strength was deceptive and it took a good few seconds for him to get her off. "I'm done with you and your affairs, we have a son Lennox, I gave you a son and what did you do. You sent him to a boarding school and dragged me half way across Mundus so you could fuck some Lodjain whore. You've ruined my life" She threw a punch at him and he simply let the blow deflect off his arm as she began to reign more and more blows at him. Having had enough he snapped and threw her to the ground but he'd failed to see the coffee table. The sound of skull bouncing off the marble top sickening it left Mary face down, Lennox was expceting her t begin screaming or cries of pain but she lay there motionless, it was then Lennox noticed a trickle of blood moving across the grey stone surface.

"Shit" he leaned down and rolled her over, she was unconcious and looked in a bad way. "Oh bollocks." he said panicing it was as he rushed over towards the phone a wave of calm washed over him and without another thought he lifted his wife's unconcious body and carried it to the balcony door, he used his elbow to open it and remembering how the Guards had told him the balconies had been constructed to give privacy and knowing his was the lowest on this side of the Palace he walked out into the moonlight. He placed his wife on the ground as he checked below, the waves crashing against the cliff face a decent distance below, with a fient grin on his lips he realised he didn't need his divorce. He picked up Mary and tipped her over the balcony the sound of her body hitting the water hardly audiable over the sound of the ocean. He looked below and in the darkness there was nothing, he knew there was a good chance her body would be dragged out to sea, or at worst wash up on the beach in a few days, but that wasn't something he was concerned with. Instead he made his way out the hallway. A guard was wandering along just as he'd expected. "Corporal" he whispered summouning the man over, "You haven't seen my wife wandering the halls have you?" The guard hadn't, but then Lennox knew he'd say that, "She's probably angry with me again" Lennox chuckled, their rows where well known and after each Mary would often find an excuse to leave the island for a few days. "Hey, but at least I get the bed to myself right." The pair laughed quietly before Lennox bid the Guard a pleasant evening and went to bed, he slept soundly knowing a great future lay ahead.

President McPherson had been looking forward to meeting more nations and first on the list was Arytomov. McPherson was hopeful of the results of meeting them, after all they did share political similarities. The Arrakeen Naval Air Facility had been prepared to welcome their guests and a pair of brightly decorated fighters were flying circuits of the airfield ready to meet up and guide the hosts aircraft down ceremonially.

McPherson watched the scene as the pair suddenly broke away and headed off out to sea no doubt to collect the delegates aircraft as it entered Kaitainite air-space. Around ten minutes later they returned their guest sandwiched between them until it touched down and came to a step at McPherson and his escorts position. "Welcome to Kaitaine" he said proudly as his guest approached

INVITATION TO ISKOR TO REAFFIRM/AMEND THE MCUR

It has been brought to my attention that the Mundus Conventional of Universal Rights has failed in one of its articles. When the nations of the world gathered to sign the original treaty it included in Article 17.2 the wording "States party to this Convention shall attend an annual Universal Rights Conference on Universal Rights Day to reinforce and reaffirm each State’s commitment to Universal Rights, eject States who do not fulfil their obligations and, where all states party to the Convention agree, revise or amend the Convention." To date there has been no such conference.

With this in mind and because Lodja have concerns regarding some aspects of the current agreement I would like to invite all nations, both signatories and prospective signatories to join me in my birth city of Iskor in order to review and if appropriate sign an amended version of the MCUR.  It is my hope that we can finally come up with an agreement the whole of Mundus can abide by.

Signed in hope

FIRST REVERENED MOTHER IN 30 YEARS
KGB ASSASSINATE HEADS OF LIFEBOATS

In a day of great celebration and mourning the future of the Bene Gesserit faith has been determined. Following the sudden death from illness of Mother Hannah McKey, the leader of the Chapterhouse Lifeboat in Ui Cenneslaig, the leadership of that community was passed to recent Mother graduate Erin MacGregor. The 19 year old graduated only last year and was a surprise choice to succeed McKey, however witnesses to the Ascenscion Ceremony say she was able to word for word recite the final words of McKey despite being out of the room when the 68 year old died. One eye witness said, "It was a miracle, Mother Erin stood up on stage and immediately repeated the last words of Mother McKey, the faces of those who witnessed McKey's death where shocked. I've never seen a miracle like it, God/Gods clearly have a mission for her." As has happened for several decades the three heads of the other Lifeboats came to greet the new Mother and discuss the future of the Sisterhood. It was later announced that day that they had been so impressed with the accomplishment of MacGregor being able to recite McKey's final words that they named her Reverened Mother, making her effectively the leader of the Bene Gesserit faith globally. It is the first time the heads of the Lifeboats have selected a Reverened Mother in 30 years. Word of her appointment spread quickly through the Bene Gesserit diaspora and celebrations began in many parts.

One celebration took part in the beseiged city of Seitch where Truthsayer Commander Joanna McNeill said, "Today is a glorious day, Mother McKey was a leading light in our movement, keeping our people together and guiding our youth. If she was able to pass fully her knowledge on to MacGregor she will have my loyalty and that of the Sisterhood."

The celebrations where short lived however as it appeared that members of the Kaitaine Guards Beureau ambushed the three heads of Lifeboat as they made their way back to a private airfield to begin their journeys home. Their car was discovered on fire in a Ui Cenneslaig forest road, the three Heads of Lifeboat where found inside their bodies riddled with bullets. The first act of the new Reverened Mother was to condem the attacks, "We are targeted, that targetting has gone on in secret for decades, now we are out in the open and now the KGB must go further into the shadows as we shine a light publically upon their actions."

The Ui Cenneslaig government have yet to comment on the situation.

Diplomacy and Events / An offer to the FIR

To President O’Connell

It is of great concern to ourselves and our friends in Rodina that your government has recently announced the intention of charging vessels to pass through the Emerald Straits. As this in a sea lane not fully controlled by yourself[1] international law would see you trying to impose this on vessels outside your exclusive economic zone as a major breach of the international standards. However we have no desire to quibble with you over your decisions on international policy and therefore I have what I hope you will find an interesting proposition.

The nations of Rodina and Kaitaine are always happy to help our neighbours and support the economic growth of all peoples. Therefore we believe that a nation with such an important position should be supported to build infastructure that could help all. Therefore we would like to offer you the chance to accept some investment. We propose that you permit Rodina and Kaitaine to construct a new port in your nation. This would serve as purely civilian and would be able to help bring more trade into Aranye supporting the workers there. We would be willing to pay the $900million construction costs and even supply the workers if neccessary. Once constructed the three nations would share the income from the port until we have recouped the construction costs, at this time the port would be fully signed over to the Final Irish Republic. In return for this offer we would like a written undertaking that our nations would not be impeded nor charged any fee in perpatuity.

I know our two nations have had little diplomatic contact in recent times, however I would be delighted to meet you face to face to discuss this offer or any other issue you have a desire to speak on.

Best Regards

OOC- The aim is to try and get more people talking about events of importance in each others media. So I intend to try and do a kind of weekly summary of the key events effecting Mundus. They'll largely be copy and paste jobs of other nations work with minor editing to make it shorter and clearer so no prior knowledge is needed. Feel free to PM me with stuff you want including next week if you think a story deserves some attention.

ASSASSINATION IN SAHERISTAN

Presidential candidate of the Islamic People's Party, Salman Yasser Fated, was assassinated this week, meters from the Slsalam Min Al'Islam mosque in the coastal city of Sakakah, following a campaign event. A bomb planted within the vehicle carrying Mullah Fated exploded by the west corner of Shaikh Omar Road, killing him, three bodyguards, two IPP campaign staffers and four bystanders, also wounding several dozen. The attack was followed by a video released by three masked figures in which they said they were "true guardians of Saheristan’s holy Islamic tradition today struck down a mortal enemy who had raised himself up in our midst. Though he draped himself in the Islam’s banner he was no friend of Allah, rather he was a product of the wicked sinfulness of modernity attempting to lead our holy brothers and sisters astray."

This assassination is expected to send shock-waves through the tight Presidential race, with Representative Vizar closely trailing President Ashkan. When polled last month to list the candidates in order of preference, Ashkan was the second preference of 61% of IPP supporters, while Vizar was the second preference of merely 8%. The IPP will be holding an emergency committee meeting for delegates to vote for a new nominee on Thursday.

CHRISTIAN ARRESTS IN NYA ALAND

Six foreign nationals have been arrested after being caught taking cuttings of mistletoe from the Grove of Odin. The six people where spotted carrying garden tools and challenged about what they were doing. The Grove is considered sacred to Odinists and visited frequently by worshippers who pray in the outdoors. Following the wardens investigations it was discovered the four women and two men had cut two small bags of misteltoe from one of the trees apparently to "decorate for Christmas". They were arrested on charges of "desecrating a holy site" and are due to appear in court. Officials have yet to confirm their nationalities however it is thought that at least three of them are here as students. Should they be found guilty they could be sentenced to a maximum of 40 hours community service, a 6,000Kr fine[1] and a two year suspended jail sentence, it is however more likely they shall get a fine of around 3,000Kr and their visas revoked unless this is a second offence.

BORLANDERS ATTACK MORELANDER DEFENCE SITES

There have been a series of armed attacks aimed at East Moreland's Jekar's Spear air defence system that protects major cities from various types of attack ranging from short-range rockets and artillery shells. The system was installed in almost every major city following the horrendous missile attack on Freestone that saw black market acquired Achkaerin made short range missiles used to attack the city, leaving some 200 dead including students in a High School. Since the installation of the system some 38 different attacks have been foiled as the system has intercepted weapons ranging from improvised mortar rounds to homemade rockets. Four major sites were attacked on the day in question leaving 19 Morelanders dead and 21 Borlanders. No defence systems were brought offline.

LIGHTS OUT FOR UTMEN

The Lakhzov government has ordered the State Energy Corporation to cut all power supplies to the Utman dominated areas of Transmecuria province leading to a full shutdown of all power plants still under the control of the Lakhzov government. In total 23 plants have been brought to a cold shutdown and deliveries of fuel have been cancelled leaving a single ageing coal fired plant in control of the Utman, barely sufficient to provide power to the rebel capital of Kinere. A government spokesman said " It was felt by many in the government that the provision of services to the rebel faction is counterproductive as it allows them to provide the impression of being a functional state with far greater control than they in reality possess. In withdrawing services we send a powerful message that the insurgents are not capable of providing even the most basic of government services to the population."

Ministers have also confirmed that plans are underway to limit water supplies in the region to provide a maximum of 2 litres per person per day. This is likely to prove more difficult to implement due to the decentralised water system in the province where villages are commonly provided water from boreholes and towers, however supplies to major population centres are fed from reservoirs and are expected to be reduced from the beginning of next week.

WAR ON CONTRACEPTION

It seems the Solonian government seriously underestimated support for contraception and a want for the legalization of abortion as hundreds of thousands of Solonians, lots of them young, have taken to the streets against the proposed plans to ban contraception which can "harm a woman's reproductive organs". The protests are one of the first signs of resistance against something the church in Solonia has supported since the fall of communism. The move comes just a short time after the Catholic Church in Solonia released new guidelines calling for their Priests and teachers in Catholic Schools, which make up around 95% of Solonian schools, to tell people that contraception should not be used. The Church said that people must be taught that contraception is a sin and a danger to the nation.

BORLAND BACK?

Following almost one year of clearing the wreckage caused by an East Moreland air strike construction on the Principality of Northern Borland has begun once more. Funded through finances raised by King Kyle Barren the "nation" will soon once more become a thriving settlement of around 15,000. The land was seceded  by President Binyamin Elwes as a thank you for  intervening as the sole international aid organisation during an outbreak of Zimalian Fever. In the months that followed the area became a safe haven for many seeking to start a new life. The community became a co-operative that built hundreds of homes in short order using old shipping containers to provide family homes for both Borlanders and Zimalians seeking a fresh start in life. Without warning this safe haven was attacked by the Royal East Moreland Air Force killing 28 people, including 6 children. Since then many have been struggling to return to a normal life unsure whether rebuilding attempts will take place. The settlement will aim to have, by the end of next month, have built around 100 homes in a similar fashion as before the air-strike, this should give some 500 people permanent homes.

OOC thread here here

The Island of The Goddess was a place of highly mixed emotions at the moment. There was of course the annual "Ball" period going on within the nation and the teenage girls who lived on the island always looked forward to that, but this year there was the tragedy of the Queen's condition and alongside that some excitement about the selection of a new Queen potentially coming at anytime. For the Lodjains who lived on the island it was difficult enough but to those handful of outsiders who had taken up residence as Ambassadors to the Queen's court it must have been even more confusing. The various Ministers of the Conclave were busy trying to keep the Kingdom running smoothly while at the same time trying to work out whether they actually had the authority to do what they were planning. In the past few days there had been more than one serious arguement between senior and junior ministers over differences of opinion. One of those was presently going on between Duke Maxim Schnoor, the minister of Home Affairs and a junior. "We don't need those buffons in the Intelligence Service wandering around the Palace." they were once more discussing the investigation into the Queen's attempted murder. The arguement ended when Maxim slammed his junior's office door and began storming his way down the corridor.

Sat on one of the window seats as Maxim stormed past was Katyusha Andronikashivili, one of the four girls being considered for the throne should Viktoriya die. She raised her head from her book as the man walked past, she considered whether she should stand and bow, after all the man was a Duke, but then part of her said she should just ignore him because she was potentially picked by Sessifet while this man clearly wasn't. She shook her head with a rye smile as she heard him swearing under his breath as he continued up the corridor. Katyusha picked her feet up and sat leaning with her back against the cold smooth stone wall with her feet stretched out touching the wall at the opposite side of the arch window. She watched the sea beneath her the salty smell of the churning ocean filling her nose. It was a peaceful place and she thought it the perfect place to enjoy her poetry book.

Beneath her on one of the rocky shorelines she could make out someone walking along keepin her balance on the rocks that formed little pools. Nataliya Kozel had got bored of the room that she had been given. It was an amazing room, lavish soft furnishings, beautiful artworks and if she picked up a phone people brought her anything she wanted, but it wasn't the fresh air that she loved so much. She'd found a path down to this set of rocks and now strolled from rock pool to rock pool looking at what was trapped in, a few fish, shells, in one a tiny octopuss. She took note of the tide beginning to change and rather than heading back up the tiny rock path that took to the top of the Islands rock took her towards the harbour. She noted a loud gathering in the tiny bar that the plebs who lived on the island but ignored it as after all it wasn't her domain.

Inside the little bar Tatiana Kohut was having a whale of a time, her security escort however stood by the door looking rather stiff. Tatiana had been out watching the boats coming in on the Saturday afternoon run and had heard music. She had instinctively headed in and found a greyhaird old man sat playing a fiddle while another had a small drum, the place had stopped and glanced at her momentarily. "Hiya" she said rather nervoulsy waving awkwardly at everyone, she took a deep breath walked up to bar and ordered a soft drink. The music began again and now ten minutes later she'd got four of five of the locals up teaching them various dances.

The sound of the raucious music from down below drifted over the houses that formed the community who lived on the island and up to the front lawn of the palace. Many of the noble girls who lived with family on the island where busily doing each others make up and hair ready for a ball that was going to take place on the mainland, Arina Pasternak would normally have been getting excited for it herself. She loved things like balls however with the current situation she was in she'd been forbidden, instead she was enjoying the sun, she'd brought a large sheet from her room and lay topping up her tan surrounded by bowls of fresh fruit and a giant jug of iced tea. A few of the other girls came over occasionally and asked for her advice and she did her best to be diplomatic aware that these balls where the place many young girls found their first husband.

All in all it was a nice quiet Saturday afternoon apart from the sound of Maxim Schnoor slamming his own office door.

A character driven RP of sorts, not sure how it will go but picture Chanal University but for posh people.

The concept is that the Lodjains have an Island almost exclusively for the Queen's household and court. The Palace intends to create a kind of informal system of ambassadors, so for example you may see the Queen of key members of her staff wandering around, stop and chat about some issue.

Several nations have already got an ambassador that has been granted rooms within the Palace.

What I was thinking was having things going on and letting ambassadors interact with key Lodjains, so for example I first plan on the four new candidates for Queen wandering around, so could be a chance for you to get a headstart on improving relations with Lodja. Obviously there are limited rooms so please feel free to sign up. In addition to a suite on the Island they'd likely be a proper embassy in Gaia which is a boat ride or short stroll away. Information about the island is Here

One last thing Lodjain society is very class concious, as such they would only permit someone of "Noble" birth to have accomodation, so for example if your Kaitaine who has abolished nobility you can't apply.

Dear Comrades

Soon our nation will be celebrating Freedom Day, the glorious occasion of the corrupt and evil Bene Gesserit faith being defeated and the establishment of the Workers and People's Councils of Kaitaine, a trumphant legacy of that victory. Each year we celebrate with a large military parade where we can give our thanks to the brave men and women who defend our nation while remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice to free us from our chains of oppressive religious cults.

This year I would like to invite like minded nations, and political representatives from non-socalist nations, to come and join our celebration. It is a wish of mine that we begin to build closer ties between us as the world has made many attempts to paint us as backwards and unjust, things that couldn't be further from the truth. I look forward to meeting you all in Arakeen for the parade.

Best Regards

President McPherson

Arakeen International airport had become a hive of activity, units had been flying in all morning ready for the parade and it had fallen to Vadik Pasternak, the new Vice President, to make sure the various guests were greeted in a manner befitting them. He was actually pleased to take on the role, he was able to sit and chat with some of the military guys and recall his own military past in the Parachute Regiment, a service he was extremely proud of. Several pieces of armour were beginning to roll out the airport gate heading for the meeting point at a large park at the run in to the parade itself. Several Sergeant Majors could be heard over the din marshalling people to where they needed to be. Vadik was enjoying a coffee with three guys from the KGB when one of the Sergeant Majors approached and saluted. "Sir, first visitors are incoming"

"Thank you" he returned the salute, completly automatically, he thanked the men for the coffee and slipped his black pin stripe suit back on checking his flag pin badge was straight, running a hand through his hair and then straightening his tie. "Please don't be some boring old fart" he mumbled to himself as he took up his position at the end of the red carpet to greet the first arrivals.

Diplomacy and Events / Kaitaine Meets Artyomov
« on: October 16, 2017, 10:22:23 PM »
President Stephen McPherson was rather looking forward to the visit, since the collapse of the USR there had been few oppurtunities for other nations to visit, after all being one of the few Communist nations in the world meant coming by friends was rather difficult. The airport at Arakeen was decked out ready to recieve their guests, flags of both nations fluttered in the early morning breeze and a gathering of bandsmen kept tuning their instruments. Coming from a Celtic background the nation still kept pipes and drums and had been practicing their guests national anthem, it sounded very different to the version they'd heard from recordings but the pipes were part of their culture and so here they were.
