The Southern Issue

Loyal citizens beware, the jungles of the Southern Himeyama region hide more than just dangerous wildlife!

In accordance with the Brilliant Speaker's most recent edict, the Neo Quywe Federation has begun sending more peacekeeping forces to its Southern Himeyama region. NQF statesmen and concerned citizens alike have raised concerns over reactionary terrorist activity near the southwestern border; and after due deliberation the Government has decided to increase its military response in the region.

The Head Spokesman of the Himeyama Regional Government has stated the following:

"Fellow citizens, it pains me greatly to know there are those among us who fail to see the Brilliant Speaker's reasoning. They spit at our attempts to build mutual understanding and instead cling to their violent neo-nationalist, reactionary ways; choosing to continue shedding blood in the name of a nation that has willingly joined arms with the Quywe once more. But fear not, my fellow loyal citizens. We have begun to send peacekeeping forces to pacify these reactionaries at long last."

NQF peacekeepers are expected to be fully operational in the region by the beginning of May.

And as a reminder to our loyal citizens:

  • Cooperate with government peacekeepers in locating any reactionary forces, they are working to keep you safe
  • If you suspect a neighbor or family member is harboring reactionaries, inform your local government immediately
  • Do not attempt to fight the reactionaries yourself, you will only endanger yourself and those around you
  • Do not attempt to cooperate with the reactionaries, the neo-nationalist agenda has no place for you in it

Prologue, Part Two

Of course, it was hard to 'enjoy' the silent dreadful anticipation that life as they had always know it was about to disappear like ashes upon the wind. The scratching of pencils and clattering of keyboards gave way to muffled sounds of warfare just beyond the horizon and quiet sobbing from the corner office. As the minutes dragged on, Constable Ken Ohmura found himself begging for it to finally end; the hand of fate already dealt, he'd rather not wait to see it. If there were ever a good time to pick up smoking, it would likely be right now.

This terrible silence continued on for nearly an hour, predictably uneventful until finally there was a commotion at the front desk; just out of view of them. Then, a dozen camouflage and balaclava clad men funneled their way into the back offices; the foremost three lazily pointed their rifles among the desks while those behind didn't seem to bother. "Surrender your weapons, do not leave yours seats." The only bare-headed man among the gaggle of soldiers ordered, his accent thick; his blocky, stone-hewn face belying his sharp gaze. He affixed himself on Ken, not having to speak a word to reaffirm his message.

Ken raised his five-shot revolver above his head slowly, eyes stuck on the NQF officer the entire time. Slowly but with a recurrent grace, he swung the cylinder open, giving his pistol a small shake as to let the bullets scatter across the floor. He felt half-tempted to punctuate it with a spit, but felt that his mood was adequately conveyed already.

The officer clicked his tongue in turn, though his face remained unchanged. With one swipe he took the revolver and carried on without looking at Ken twice. The soldiers converged on the captain's office as they collected weapons from Ken's disheartened comrades, most disappearing inside while a handful of those armed with rifles stood watch outside.

Minutes passed and the soldiers soon departed, a terrified looking Captain following them out of the office to see them out. When the last soldier stomped out the front door, the Captain turned back to them; forehead now wholly glazed over with sweat. "Take Tomorrow and Tuesday off, we all have big things to discuss when you come back." He said meekly to his staff. At first simply encouraging them to go home, but soon the Captain was frantically trying to kick the last few policemen out of the office.

Ken spent the next two days wide-eyed and sleepless.

Prologue

November 24th, 2019, 20:06
Masai, Southern Himeyama

Montainous stacks of paperwork and a faint haze of tobacco smoke filled the quiet office of the Masai City Police's Waterfront District, otherwise known as the outskirts of civilization that disappeared into the endless marshlands to the south. For a lack of residents, the Waterfront was usually uneventful. Usually.

A portly, aging man appeared again from one of the side offices, brow gleaming with cold sweat and but a large badge to distinguish his authority to the handful of men chipping away at paperwork on the desks scattered about. All eyes immediately turned to him, though he hesitated to speak. All knew what he was going to say, though he still seemed to be picking his words carefully. He was Captain Go Honma, a superior officer in the Masai City Police for longer than most people cared to remember.

For hours, days now, the north of Masai sang with the chatters of gunfire, the bassy thumps of explosive shells against cold earth and the howling of jet fighters above. In the face of their impending defeat, the final remnants of the Armed Himeyan Republic fought savagely against the ever oncoming forces of the Neo Quywe Federation. All for naught though. Resistance in the city core had broken and the NQF had taken to chasing the survivors into the southern outskirts.

The stout man cleared his throat for everyone else's attention, albeit redundantly. "At 7:30 this evening, the last checkpoint between Waterfront Office and Masai city proper was captured by Neo Quywe Federation forces. It is safe to assume, that they will be arriving at our office to capture it in short order." He looked around. The men scattered about stared back at him with a deathly stillness, to say nothing of the silence. "When they arrive, we ask, for the safety of all staff here today that you do not offer resistance and surrender all weapons to the NQF. That will be all for tonight."

Promptly he turned heel and head back towards his office, stopping momentarily. "Enjoy this silence while it lasts." He murmured solemnly before disappearing inside.

Blessed are our unborn children, for they will never know what we have lost.

At the end of 2019, the Neo Quywe Federation strode into the last remaining cities of independent Himeyama like death upon its black horse. Resistance has flickered but not been extinguished, turning from organized military resistance to savage bands of guerillas scurrying about the southern marshes.

Update: HRAF Expansion

Morelandish F-3 multirole jet.

The procurement and delivery of a test batch of EMAC F-3 Dragonhearts (pictured) has been successful, over the coming weeks Himeyan Air Force officials will begin trials involving the Morelandish-built jets as well as the domestically produced S-5-kai.

The delivery of EMAC planes comes during a time of relative stability among the AHR-NQF border; with the occurrence of small arms exchanges reaching a record low in late March before slightly climbing in the following weeks and beyond. Grand Air Marshal Sotaro Oe notes however, that the Himeyama split is "inherently unstable" and that "ensuring an effective response against Quywe incursions is paramount at all levels of Himeyama's armed forces."

When questioned about other foreign designs possibly being implemented, Oe has stated that "First consideration will be given to like-minded nations when dealing in arms..." and that "Other candidates are being evaluated in case more trials are needed."

Early. Real fucking early.
FOB Spiteful Indignation, Kispos

The muted rumbling and thumps of an artillery barrage stirred Cain awake on his bunk. The barracks came to life with shuffling just for a moment.

An uproar of chattering gunfire broke out, very loud and seemingly only a couple blocks away. “Whoa! What the fuck!?” A corpsman shouted, the sleeping BSC company scrambled awake and rushed to get geared up before anyone bothered to give any orders. Another wave of shells soared over Kispos, hammering into nearby roads and buildings when the gunfire died down.

Movement around the base became frantic. “They’re probably moving up on us! Get organized!” Lancer Ashikaga shouted, trying to spot her NCOs amid the chaos.

A pair of armored cars rolled to a stop past the gate while the hastily equipped Federation troops gathered outside, bearing the sort of alien symbolism that was unmistakably CDL. A ragtag group of paramilitaries scrambled out of the vehicles and scattered into nearby alleys and buildings.

“We’re keeping watch, my friends!” A helmetless paramilitary exclaimed, nervously clutching an SVD as he slunk behind an open metal grate and into the sprawling alleyways. Another paramilitary scrambled atop the leading car and took control of the mounted .50.

“I’m so fucked.” Miki groaned, quietly taking her AA-12 and a handful of box magazines from the quartermaster. “You’re in the Corps. We’re so fucked, Spearman.” Tanao said with a little smirk, passing her by. “Squad’s waiting on you outside, Clysperi positions are under siege and command wants us to go help them.”

“Which ones?” Miki prodded, slinging the bulky support weapon over her shoulder.

“The ones just down the street.” The Shieldbearer replied, leading her outside. Another barrage of shells screeched overhead and crashed like thunder far out of sight, far more intense than the one they’d received. Whoever those ones hit were probably seeing the brunt of the offensive.

Miki followed behind, quickly falling in line with her platoon, their briefing was expectedly short. Bad guys that way, hold ‘em off.

Apocalypse came riding in. The rising sun at his back. Like a tidal wave, he reached out over the land and came crashing down upon it in a ceaseless rumble.  Till our bullets are gone. Till our bayonets are dull. Till our blood spills we stand against him.

“Hey Swordsman, little gift from the RCA.” Before she could turn to look, Ash felt a cold bottle resting against her shoulder. She turned her head. One of the Force Recon operators came swishing past and took up a spot next to her along the wall, clearly comfortable in her new surroundings, holding a pair of bottles. “You’re drinking now?” Ash prodded. A little smirk twisted off the end of the operator’s lip. “You’re not? Tomorrow’s gonna be a long day, y’know.”

“Mh.” The operator nudged her with the bottle. She couldn’t read anything but the numbers on the label, and thoroughbred survivalists like Force Recon weren’t particularly concerned about taste. The operator chortled watching her hesitate. “It ain’t that bad actually. The RCA make good hosts.” Her statement punctuated by another lovetap. “Thanks.” She muttered, finally taking it.

“Shieldbearer Yorigami, by the way. You hear that an Achkaerinese royal got bumped off yesterday? Pair of confed gunmen shot ‘m dead in front of his family. That’s some fucked up shit.” Ash took a swig, Yorigami was right; not a bad beer for the heat. “Think it was revenge for Apne?” She asked. “Dunno. Apparently both were vets, but I think they were acting alone.” Ash frowned.

“Also, you seen your marksman anywhere? Shortstuff with the DMR, don’t know his name.” Ash pondered for a moment. “Nope.”

“Blackbeard, runway is clear. Make your approach and begin landing check.”

20:10
Medjed Airbase, Bespi

Flipping switches and pressing buttons for the nth time. It was ingrained in her conscience enough that she didn’t really have to think about it; instead pondering how she was going to get any sleep in this heat. “Blackbeard making final descent. Standby.”

The large fighter-bomber, a HOXY S-9 Miko found its footing on the dusty runway, popping its parachute to stop with the pavement. “This is Blackbeard, landing successful. Beginning taxi.”

“Roger that, Blackbeard. All Bucket aircraft are landed, AWACS Hyperon signing off.”

The crossroads between Achkaerinese and Federation forces lay in the vulnerable town of Apne; now under Achkaerinese control. Meanwhile without armored vehicles to spare, any direct path from Kispos to Apne was teetering on the textbook definition of suicide; Confederation snipers, entrenched vehicles and ATGM positions waiting in the sand like antlions.

What resources the Federation could spare for Apne’s defense had only rolled in hours before the expected assault on Kispos. A company of motorized infantry with a significant supply of ATGMs, looping around the rapidly expanding Confederation territory after being airlifted in.

17.12.2019 Thoughts and manuscripts

Ultimately, I think this new direction in foreign policy will save the Republic. The cavalry isn’t coming for us, whatever the Federation says its doing in Clysperis is a practice run. All those little tricks they learn while out fighting the Clysperi Confederation will inevitably be used against us. The last thing I want is a swift defeat of the Armed Republic at the hands of Junko. Outnumbered, outgunned and out-finessed, we have to push aggressively for even the slightest advantage; in war and politics.

Objectively, the Fleuroix is the ideal place to start. While Junko pursues economic partners in MidAranye, I somehow doubt they’re in any hurry to win over a staunch democracy in Albion. We’ve lost time by pretending to exist in a bubble with the Federation, the zealots have spread their wings. The time to act is now.

M.S.

“Madam Musashi. We’ve passed over Quinntopia Bay.” Nodding back into consciousness, she answered without moving. “Thank you.” Work was exhausting. Press conferences, heated board meetings and towering stacks of paperwork; the only time she could afford to sleep well is when she couldn’t afford to sleep poorly.

Dark circles and bloodshot eyes, battlefield wounds of the white collar worker. While she half-hoped for enough sympathy from the Fleuroix for them to ignore it like her colleagues, she decided against it and begrudgingly put off working the day before.

Elsewhere on the plane, the Head of Finance and Head of Domestic Economic Development furiously shuffled notes back and forth. Akira Maeda and Ichiro Nakashima respectively; among the Republic’s best assets going into diplomacy.

As the hours passed, the plane began its descent over Cœur. Green fields and towering clouds washed over with sunlight; peaceful. With a landing impending, Premier Musashi  collected their gift to the Fleuroix. A stylized (and harmless.) rendition of the axe on the Fleuroix flag, wrapped in a silk banner in their colors. Handmade and stamped by a small workshop far away from the Himeyan cities.

The plane soon found solid ground and began rumbling to a halt along the runway in front of the Fleuroix. A final jerk of momentum as the plane stopped was the Premier’s signal to rush to the door, first to greet their hosts with a bow and their gift.

Subject: Safraen and Vanora

The purpose of this statement is to address concerns raised by President Mikhael Dretsyj of Safraen and Duke David Aragon of Vanora.

The Neo Quywe Federation understands and sympathizes with the nations of Vanora and Safraen, as the conflict in Clysperis will continue to be a thorn in the side of the MidAranye economy. Our officials understand that the presence of NQF jets and transport ships in the Gulf of Safraen may be a disruption to the regional economy, we ask for their continued cooperation as the Federation assists Clysperis in resolving the conflict. When the Kingdom of Clysperis restores its territorial integrity, all Federation military assets will be evacuated in a timely manner unless requested otherwise.

In the weeks following the cessation of hostilities, the Federation will have diplomats on standby to begin negotiations with both Safraen and Vanora regarding possible compensation. Should they choose to do so.

Danger in Kispos, Field General Saejima Warns

Federation armor and artillery made landfall in Clysperis this morning.

In the coming days, the Federation's ground forces in Clysperis are expected to begin full scale military operations against the barbarian menace as part of the ongoing Holy War for Clysperis. With the heaviest of our ground assets now safely on Clysperi soil, the staff of the 15th Shock Division is carefully planning its next move against the infidel uprising of ‘President’ Nekhtou.

However, Field General Saejima warns that even with the technological supremacy of the Federation and her allies, that the Clysperi Confederation will be a fanatical and resourceful foe. While statistics have been withheld for the time being, the Field General laments the Federation’s lack of experience in desert warfare; and believes that the Holy War for Clysperis will be a gauntlet of challenges for the Black Sash Corps to overcome.

The first of which likely beginning in Kispos, a city on the frontier between loyalist and confederate forces. As conflicts in the Clysperi Midlands escalate; analysts and intelligence officers from MidAranye and the Federation believe that a rebel attack on Kispos is “immediately impending”. As a major city, Kispos is at risk for large scale destruction as well as civilian casualties. Evacuation procedures are well on the way. However, the Field General warns that even with the civilian population safely evacuated, that a battle for Kispos will be grueling.

Like a skillet 20 minutes out of the oven, the ground was burning hot. Though far preferable to the storm of bullets cracking overhead. Against a gouge in the earth, Cain impatiently prepared himself for another push. The closer they got to the hamlet, the more enemy guns joined in on bearing down upon their squad; an orchestra of cheap guns and bullets hiding among the houses. Hearing a break in it, Miki shouted over to Tanao. “Hey SB!”

Immediately another swarm of tracers shot by. Miki flinched, her composure being whisked away with the speeding bullets. “Yeah?” Tanao called back. “What’s the plan? Can’t Force Recon come back us up?” She shouted warily over the suppressing fire. “Too late, Spearman! Force Recon just had orders to pull out! We’re alone with these guys!”

“Fuck!”

“Agreed! Only way past the barbarians is through them. Fireteam B, form up on Serizawa!” A few heads behind Cain, Serizawa hailed in response.  “Aye. Where we going, SB?” She asked, nonchalantly dropping her magazine while she fished around on her vest for another. “Up the hill, Ash. Rest of us will support your team until you can get close.”

Ash saluted lazily in response. “On me, newbloods. You earn your first taste of glory today.”

09:00
NQF Operational Headquarters, Bespi, Clysperis

“This doesn’t feel like a coffee and cigarettes type of meeting, Field General.” Around Saejima, the faces of every high ranking officer in the area sat in a row of desks, alongside some foreign representatives. “It’s not, but drink up. It’s gonna be a long day for us. Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got bad news and good news. The bad news is that Force Recon picked apart enemy force composition in Apne. These rebels aren’t merely looking to push into Kispos; they’re prepping a blitzkrieg. On top of that, we’ve become suspicious that foreign elements are embedded in the Confederation’s ranks."

The Field General procured a small remote and fiddled with it for a moment. A projector hummed to life, quickly booting up to display a colorless security tape. “Force Recon calls them super terrorists. Our current theory is that they’re foreign trained mercenaries disguised as local fighters, for what reason we do not yet know."

The footage abruptly started playing on the cracked wall. A compilation of normal looking insurgents raiding CDL and RCA buildings. The officers looked on in dismay, there was a pattern to the way the ‘super terrorists’ moved and fought; they were almost certainly combat veterans, well drilled and merciless. Far better than what the Black Sash Corps had been running into so far.

A hand shot up in the corner. “And the good news, sir?”

“The good news is that they’re coming up against the Black Sash Corps. We believe that these ‘super terrorists’ are nominally associated with Clysperi Confederation, and have a separate leader operating in confederate held lands. But that only concerns some of you. As for the rest, warn your men about these fighters and ensure they’re prepared to take them on. Dismissed.”

16:18
West of Kispos, Clysperis

“Yo SB. This is Miki, They’re crawling up on us.” Anxiously, her and Ash propped themselves up against a low wall dividing the houses. A dozen or so voices constantly shouted around them between volleys of gunfire. “Nakae. You and Ohmura get into the house behind us and keep those snipers busy. We’ll have this hamlet cleared in no time.”

Unceremoniously Ash shoved Miki with a drum magazine, lined with shotgun shells. “000 buckshot. Hope you’re not squeamish, spearman.” Miki took it without a word, looking Ash in the eye. With a collection of drum mags around her waist, Miki slid the magazine into place and held up her hand in an ‘ok’ gesture.

Muffled gunshots rang out in the house behind them and intensified for a moment before stopping. Along with the shouting from the nearby houses. “I’m inside and the house is clear. Ohmura got hit though.” The insurgents began to speak again, leaving their positions on the top floors of houses and converging in on their house. “They’re moving. Nakae cover us.”

“Negative, team lead. Ohmura’s bleeding.”

“Keep him stabilized, but we’re all dead if these barbarians push through.”

One man began shouting as he drew in close to the house, running right past the low wall without seeing the pair. Miki’s heart slammed in her chest seeing a man in mismatched camouflage run past. Instinctively she brought the shotgun to her shoulder and squeezed down. A pair of shotgun shells flew out the ejection port and the man rolled over on the ground dead.

The chorus of shouting flared up into an uproar and with it, long bursts of fire. “Fuck fuck fuck!” Miki growled to herself. With nowhere else to hide, she dropped to the deck; awkwardly lying atop her ammunition. More insurgents came rushing in; taking pot shots at the corpsman before collapsing under a hail of shotgun fire. “You guys need to MOVE! They’re going around for another push.”

“On you, Spearman! We’re getting inside.”

“‘Kay.”

Shakily she knocked away the drum mag and loaded another in. The barbarians were right on the other side of the wall, moving to cut them off. “I’m ready! Let’s GTFO.” Following Ash’s eyes, she sprinted out towards the back of the house with her weapon aimed from her hip. Another insurgent rushed into a view with submachine gun in hand, managing to fire off a few rounds before Miki reflexively gunned him down.

With a bottomless pool of adrenaline, she continued running past the wall and into view of more insurgents. To stop sprinting now would be death. So she held the shotgun right up against her chest as she ran, spraying empty shells out in front of her, caring little if she actually hit any of them. She turned in towards the house and dove for the entrance, barely landing inside. Ash quickly followed suit and helped her to her feet once they were somewhere safe. “You good, Spearman?” She asked nonchalantly, dusting the pale gray gravel off her black jacket. “Fucker tagged me, winded but I don't think I'm bleeding.” Miki huffed.

“Adrenaline is something else, innit? Hunker down for an assault; the barbarians are gonna come in hot.” Ash pat her firmly on the back and checked to see she wasn’t bleeding. “Yo! How’s Ohmura?”

“I only need two arms to shoot, Ma’am.” Ohmura called back, clearly in pain but obviously not dead.

By the time NQF armored and artillery assets made landfall in Clysperis, the fighting had already begun in earnest. Worse yet, a storm was gathering in Apne and there was nothing they could do except weather it. By week’s end, Force Recon had tallied dozens of BTRs and BMPs; alongside an armada of pickup trucks and technicals. The Clysperi Confederacy was preparing to storm Kispos, more than likely with some ‘super terrorists’ in tow.

Controlled Substance Laws to Change in Syumaera

Psi-Class substances are classified as such for their temporary, vivid and mind altering effects.

Citizens should be advised, as of 12:47PM today, the Brilliant Speaker has passed an edict that shall alter the status of Psi-class controlled substances within the Syumaera metro area. The Psi classification of substances refers to most common and popular psychedelics used in the world today, which includes but is not limited to, LSD, psilocybin and DMT (An active and highly potent component of ayahuasca).

These substances have been declared legal for recreational use and starting on December 20th, shall become available for purchase in many Syumaera pharmacies. Widespread legalization of Psi-class substances is being withheld, as the Brilliant Speaker has declared their use within Syumaera as an ongoing experiment. The long-term status of these substances will depend on how these changes fare in Syumaera.

Also a component of the Speaker's divine edict, the NQF Knowledge Development Group shall begin more widespread tests involving controlled substances of every class. Our brightest minds believe that the legal status of these substances elsewhere on Mundus has left their potential untested, and believe that further testing could uncover much knowledge on how the human mind, body and psyche work.

We've fallen into a pattern.

Every other day had become a long crawl under the burning sun until it retreated beyond the horizon. General Saejima wanted not to attack the barbarians yet. Our considerable amount of artillery had yet to arrive, plus he was insistent on learning about how they fight. Little skirmishes broke out between our patrols and their recon teams. Were we better trained? Very much so, but that didn't make it easy.

Someone knew how to put these angry civilians to use, and I can picture joy on the General's face. A worthy opponent to test his skills with, we his disciples in warfare.

16:00
West of Kispos, Clysperis

"Shieldbearer." Cain Haseda began, trudging up to his superior along the unpaved road. Little but desert around them, besides a cluster of adobe houses in the distance. "I'll bet you 50 that if we get attacked, there's rebels watching us from those houses." Tanao looked over at Cain. "No." He replied flatly. Cain smirked; "Why's that, Shieldbearer?" he asked. "Because that's where I'd be. Keep your eyes on it." the Shieldbearer retorted, pointing at Cain's MSG90.

"Understood." Cain muttered, eyeballing the highest window. 700 meters. He dropped to his knee, delicately turning the dial on his short and wide scope; bringing it back to his shoulder when he heard the click he wanted. "I don't like this." He whispered to himself, wasn't too much to see inside the windows. It just seemed too perfect though. His squad had noticed him staying behind, laser-focused on that hamlet. Silently, they all fell against the gravel and crawled up over the small hill separating their road from the hamlet's line of sight. "Hey. I see movement, house with the blue door." Cain noted.

Little flickers of fabric and skin lit up by streaks of light. Then, a long barrel. "That's a sniper, probably more." Slowly tracing the hooded man, he watched them take a knee; bringing their rifle up over the windowsill. "He's found us. Gimme the call."

"Shoot 'em."

Cain scratched at his nose with his knuckle, then drew his rifle in close; dropping his head against the cheek rest. Nothing more than a gentle breeze about; minimal wind compensation. The enemy sniper had taken aim, far too late however; Cain wrapped his finger around the trigger. Then pulled it back. The little smoke trace disappeared into the air with the crack of his muzzle, twisting off to the right then pulling inwards as it closed in on its mark. The man instantly collapsed to the floor like a ragdoll, his rifle falling out the windowsill. "I got him."

He sat in uneasy silence, he could hear his squadmates crawling about. But he dare not take his eyes off the hamlet. Then, a volley of shots came screeching by, a dim green tracer flew by Cain's leg with a loud crack; bouncing off the gravel and zooming away. The Shieldbearer growled, gravel and dust kicked up around the squad. "Awano, Nagao! Get ready to move up! Rest of you get focus on those snipers."

Seeing bullets by the handful reach out and just barely miss him, Cain shuddered for a moment, but falter he didn't. Refocusing, he brought the black crosshair of his scope around the houses and spotted another sniper. Using his last shot as reference, he lined up his sights and held still. One shot. Two shot. They spun towards their prey, both barely missing his head as they slammed into the mudrock walls; enough to make the sniper fall to cover at least. On to the next rebel. The crawl towards those houses was to be long and grueling, he needed to make his ammo last. Until his squad could get closer at least.

By week's end, 2000 Black Sash Corps infantry had landed in the Midlands. Plus the 46th Fighter Wing, a pack of veteran fighter-bomber crews with newly upgraded S-9kai-3s; an important opportunity to cast the NQF's air doctrine against the jagged rocks of asymetrical warfare. Their finest tacticians awaiting an influx of combat reports from the front to hone the art of war doctrine for the Federation.

As for the rest of their ground forces. They'd be another week at least, NQF military actions have so far have been small but aggressive. A deterrent to opportunistic barbarians, looking to set up camp in the hills between Apne and Kispos.

"I need more information. More. To see how they fight, what cards they hold. Even their supply routes. Their eyes are without a doubt on Kispos, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when." Pacing before his cadre of officers, Field General Daigo Saejima pondered impatiently. "Major Onomyouji. I'm proposing we pull your force recon troops back to Kispos and concentrate their efforts on finding out about the barbarians' force composition." He began, staring at the petite captain, adorned with a teal peaked cap; a sign she was part of the NQF special forces. "Do you have any objections?"

"No, General." She shot back. "Excellent. Get our foreign comrades on the line; I want to know what they have going on in the region." A nearby officer bowed to excuse himself, over to the command centre. "But following this, Major. I have something else in mind for your Force Recon. Excused." Major Onomyouji bowed and took off behind the other officer.

Downtown Kispos, Clysperis

Hot.

By the Speaker was it ever. They had about 2 hours to adjust to their new life in Bespi before General Saejima sent them off to establish a post in Kispos. "Aye, Lancer. Ain't this where we're supposed to unpack?" Miki prodded impatiently, shifting in her seat after a long and uncomfortable ride in the MRAP. "Not before we go greet our hosts, Spearman. It's been awhile since I've gotten an earful from command, and I don't wanna start now." Miki retorted by grumbling to herself. She peered over at the tiny window on the side of the vehicle, outside was a long wall of adobe houses and small commercial buildings; their metal shutters worn and discolored.

Another long bout of bored silence was broken by the driver knocking against the metal wall. "Roadblock. Royal Clysperi Army." He called back, uncertainty is his voice. Reaching for the door control, Lc. Ashikaga replied: "Lemme handle it. We're almost there." Throwing her peaked cap on, she shuffled out the back with a hand on her holster. Slowly and confidently she approached the RCA officer, saluting as he came into view. The Lancer opened up with her name and then a long string of heavily accented Clysperi.

The officer tilted his head to the side, then pursed his lips and nodded. They saluted one another and Ashikaga returned to the MRAP, climbing back inside while the Clysperi soldiers waved them through. "This is Suplex. We've reached downtown Kispos. Expect our post to be set up in thirty."

"I see no issue with the proposal thus far. I shall have a senior representative of our intelligence service available on short notice." General Saejima began, peering up from the document; he laid it back down on the round table for another to pick up.

Saejima nodded in response. "As of now, the Neo Quywe Federation has landed her first troops in the Clysperi Midlands, with a component of armour, artillery and mechanized infantry expected to arrive soon by boat. We know not what our colleagues bring to the table in that regard.  As for units under my command, the Black Sash Corps is capable of offensive and defensive action; though we lack information on Nekhtou's forces in the region." He turned his attention primarily to Peter and Akasha, while the Grand General sat idly beside him. She was dead silent, watching the myriad of displays around the room. Saejima knew damn well she was listening in though. Any slip up would have her at his neck.

"Great Pharaoh, what the Neo Quywe Federation proposes is to wear down the Confederate advance into the Midlands. While we especially cannot guarantee Kispos will not come under heavy siege, we do believe that using it as a strongpoint against the barbarian horde will cost them dearly. And as such, we propose the evacuation of the city a matter of absolute necessity. In a similar vein, the Black Sash Corps also has orders in place to harass advancing barbarians elsewhere in the Midlands. Whether the evacuation of Bespi, Menset and Fokha is necessary is yet to be seen, but with all due respect; it should be kept in mind."

"Should the barbarian push into the Midlands fail, our staff is preparing a counterattack strategy. Including a siege of Apne. This is the Neo Quywe Federation's abridged game plan, are there any questions?"

NQF Armed Forces Land in Clysperis

Soldiers of the Black Sash Corps. The razor sharp tip of the Brilliant Speaker's sword.

Peacemaking forces of the Neo Quywe Federation have arrived safely in Bespi, the capital of the Clysperi Midlands province. As infidels and barbarians calling themselves the Clysperi Confederation wage war against the innocent and faithful of Clysperis; the Neo Quywe Federation has, in the spirit of peace, pledged to assist the Clysperi government in eradicating them. The Brilliant Speaker has long stated her desire to propagate strong and lasting friendships with the nations of MidAranye, and will continue to cooperate with them long after Clysperis has found peace.

"The Holy War for Clysperis has begun in earnest. The infidel armies of 'President' Nekhtou continue to ravage their own homeland in search of wealth and power, savagely eating away at their own cultural heritage by ransacking holy sites and selling the loot. The armies of the Pharaoh are fierce, noble and righteous; but are quickly losing ground to the barbarians. With assistance from the Quywe people, they shall be driven back into the void. Peace will be restored to Clysperis in quick order, and I sincerely hope the people of MidAranye come to consider us as a valuable ally." The Brilliant Speaker said, this morning during a National Address.

"Field General Daigo Saejima." The young Quywe man replied curtly, eyeing his colleagues up and down under the brim of his cap. The Haruna native's proud and aloof mannerisms played into the stereotype of the Quywe being haughty and arrogant; but the hoodlum turned officer's attitude was a matter of necessity.

Behind him, the Grand General pulled up a chair and let herself fall into it. "Grand General Ianaha Hasaenori. I am responsible for the Quywe armed forces. Though I will merely be overseeing the operation, as the 15th Shock Division is solely in General Saejima's hands." Finishing, the Grand General procured a long slim cigarette from her pocket, bringing it to her mouth with lighter in hand. "May I?"

"I assume you have information for us, your Imerial Majesty." Daigo prodded, looking over at Peter.

Syumaera Military Complex, Outskirts of Syumaera, NQF

"Left, right, left, march!"

Like that, legions of Quywe soldiers came marching out of the hangars and barracks onto the rain-slicked concrete. These were the 15th Shock Regiment, known within the armed forces community as Ereshkigal's Fist. Haruna's proudest, most tenacious warriors that the Quywe government managed to drag out into service.

The entire complex had been set up in preparation for a brief ceremony followed by a quick embarkation of the entire 15th Shock Regiment; lines of SPGs, tanks and cargo planes between which the rows of infantry organized themselves. At the very front of the formation, an elevated podium from which the Brilliant Speaker stood poised. Umbrella in hand.

"The Holy War for Clysperis has been entrusted in your hands. Holy warriors of Haruna, may every bullet you fire be as righteous as it is deadly. The barbarians and infidels of the Clysperi Confederation await their fates, let their desecrated cities become their tombs." The Speaker then procured a knife from her hip and held it high; handing off her umbrella to a nearby officer. Wordlessly she brought her other hand up and ran the knife's blade across, until blood leaked from her palm.

"The Brilliant Speaker's blood has been spilled in the name of the Holy War. Let zeal be your sword and faith your shield."

She flicked the knife at the ground, her blood quickly being diluted and disappearing in the rainwater. As she turned her back and stepped down, a storm of signal lights lit up the sunless morning as the Quywe vehicles roared back to life. The first of the NQF forces would arrive in Clysperis in the evening by plane. Their artillery and armor would arrive later by boat.

"Bravo." The Grand General muttered, clapping slowly and quietly. "I liked that." She said, looking over to her left. It was the Dragovans, royals or something. "Not exactly how we honor our dead, but a spectacle nonetheless. In my homeland, we celebrate this occasion with a grand drama. A thousand actors and dancers dressed with silk and swords, perhaps next time you'll stop in Chanal? Hm?"

With the ceremony concluded, Grand General Hasaenori slipped her jacket and peaked cap back on with a casual air. Reaching for her leatherbound book on the floor, she waved away her generals to go meet with other important people. "Dragovan, am I correct?" She inquired, eyeballling the closest of the Aurelius family.

State on Max Alert Following Albion Terror Attacks

The S-9 Miko, a proud guardian of Quywe skies.

Citizens are advised to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. State security forces are currently on high alert following a chain of terror attacks in Tytor; with a purported astronomical loss of innocent human life. Civilian air traffic has been grounded and land borders with Bakkermaya have been shuttered.

The Brilliant Speaker has expressed her deepest sympathies to the people of Tytor, but would like to remind our people to remain vigilant. Further terror attacks outside the Kingdom of Tytor have not been reported, but the Speaker notes that terror attacks by nature are meant to be unexpected. The Quywe armed forces have deployed in numbers to our streets and skies as a reminder that we will not falter in the face of brutality, and in the event that any such attack occurs, it will be met by force without restraint.

To the République Fleuroise

La Direction des Affaires Diplomatiques & Commerciale,

Besieged by tyrants, zealots and meddlers; the Himeyan people require an ally that the Mhorish cannot provide them, a secular state with shared democratic values. Hence we have taken our search elsewhere, to the far southern continent of Albion.

Your people inspire hope in our own, and the torch of democracy burns bright enough for all to see within Fleuroix lands. To this end, we would be pleased to arrange a diplomatic mission between our two fair republics. One that will strengthen ties and bring about new prosperity.

Signed,

Shiina Musashi
Premier of the Armed Himeyan Republic
