Queen's Foundation Awards 2019
« on: October 12, 2019, 03:07:13 PM »

The Queen's Foundation Awards (otherwise known as the Queen's Medals), are a set of awards granted to people each year in acknowledgement of their accomplishments across a variety of different fields, are once more upon us. This year we intend to award prizes for accomplishments in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Physiology and Medicine, Literature or Journalism, Peace, Economics, Engineering, Archaeology and Anthropology and Mathematics. Nominations will be open until the 26th of October with the winners being announced on the 1st of November at a reception hosted by Queen's College of the University of Artaxia.

We look forward to another celebration of humankind's accomplishments.

Charlotte Youngson
Chair of the Queen's Foundation

OOC Explanation

Ok this is essentially modelled on the Nobel Prizes. You can nominate any of your own characters, someone else's character, or even an international organisation if you can justify it in any of the fields. There are some rules regarding nominations explained below. All I ask is that people be reasonable, this is intended as a fun RP event not a competition.

The Rules

1) The reason for the nomination (I.e. what the nominee has done) must have happened between the 1st of September 2018 and the 26th of October 2019 (It would normally be 27th of October 2018 to 26th of October 2019 for example but as this is the first year I've got this nailed down I'm giving a little leeway).

2) The reason must be a completed RP event - for example if the SSC Honeybadger was nominated then it must have achieved the speed record and not still be being constructed. This also means it must be something on the forum.

3) The reason must be feasible (within the RP rules) - self explanatory.

4) The Queen's Foundation reserves the right to reject a nomination should it deem it to be inappropriate.

The Nomination Form

Please fill out the following form to nominate for a prize

Code: [Select]
Name of Nominee: (Link to character profile if they have one desired but not essential, do include titles)
Field Nominated in: Chemistry/Physics/Physiology and Medicine/Literature and Journalism/Peace/Economics/Engineering/Archaeology and Anthropology/Mathematics - Delete as Appropriate
Reason for Nomination: What have they done to earn the nomination?
Supporting Letter: Why you (the person nominating) think they should be given the award, signed by the person doing the nominating.

If anyone has questions get in touch with me on discord or PM.

Reason for Nomination: Establishing measures to actively reduce AIDS/HIV in Zimalia.
Supporting Letter:

It is with great pride that the Odinist Republic of Nya Åland nominate one of our daughters, Olivia Robertsson, for this prestigious award. In the past two years the young medical practicener has worked on JET deployments across Mundus and has established a series of mobile medical practices and education centres. As a result of this she was honoured recently by Zimalia with an award for helping reduce the number of new AIDS/HIV cases across that nation, work that has had a significant impact on the situation with these diseases there. We therefore believe Miss Robertsson is a role model for young medics across Mundus.

Name of Nominee: Team Dawnbreaker
Field Nominated in: Engineering
Reason for Nomination: New Solar Powered Landspeed Record
Supporting Letter:

To be able to nominate a group of post graduate students I supervise is both an honour and a privilege. The Dawnbreaker team constructed a vehicle that using only the power of the Sun was able to go faster than any other sun powered vehicle has ever gone before, it shows that vehicles based around renewable energy can be more than what public attitude may brand them. I have hopes that this is only the beginning for this team of keen minds and we may see more developments in this field from them.

Luke Ayanami

Name of Nominee: Marcus Merriman
Field Nominated in: Archaeology and Anthropology
Reason for Nomination: Paul the Explorer & Phukbridge dig
Supporting Letter:

One of the great figures of Mundus's history is the Morelander King known as Paul the Explorer, over the years several prominent archaeologists including myself and Marcus have at times discovered more about this historic legendary figure. The most recent discoveries both in Portworth, East Moreland and then in Phukbridge, Rokkenjima. have unveiled a new aspect of the mystery of this King that was previously unknown, it has established a distant link between two families - the Ironsides and the Coles and it is something worthy of recognition.

Donna Steele

Name of Nominee: Latasha Dooty
Field Nominated in: Literature and Journalism
Reason for Nomination: Shedding light on a humanitarian crisis at great cost to herself
Supporting Letter:

Latasha Dooty was a promising young journalist, well like by her colleagues at home and by her counterparts abroad. Despite the various attempts of the Noobian Government to deny the international community information Latasha, in a show of great integrity, published an article on the subject (the contents were later supported by CNN satellite images), she chose to utilize the most significant function of the media - to report the truth. Sadly this action cost her her life however I make this nomination because her conduct was in the finest traditions of journalism.
