Niameck Fashion Week 2020 - Show Thread
« on: February 10, 2020, 06:09:34 PM »

Niameck City Square, 10.2.2020

Adelheid stood in her Dress at the Backstage watching the last of the Pre-Show Bands playing. It had been a good decision to warm the crowd up with local Bands, the gathered people where agitated and chatting, waiting for the show to begin but not bored. Well, Adelheid thought to herself, the Mulled Whine might have helped as well.

The Stage lights turn off as the Last Band hurries off, the Speakers  blasting Thunder just before Adelheid hit the Stage. Her Red Dress and Veil flowing in the Fans' blow as she struts across the stage and over the catwalk.

"Are you READY?"
Adelheid bellows into her Microphone, as dozens of dancers stream onto the stage to yet another piece of electric swing from her beloved Caravan Place. Thoughts pushed aside as the next part of the show was about to starts.

From behind the stage, a young boy in a Bunny costume stumbles over the Stage. The show gets to a grinding halt, music is paused as Augustin grabs himself one of the Microphones.
"Please remember to get registered as Marrow or Organ Donors."

Adelheid hurried over, and makes an exaggerated effort to shoo him off stage, before the dance Number continues. If she would tell anyone that this commotion was the kids plan to fake it she'd probably be called a liar.

A Time Table with several of the Most important, and a lot of the smaller, Designer Venues is Projected onto the Stage, while she grabss the Microphone:

"After the Success of Last Year, the Fashion World has gotten Roots here in Niameck. But since when is the Empire contempt with humbled beginnings?"

She waltzes towards the Projection, turning towards the Audience:

"This Year, we are More. More Color, More Fabric, More Nations. If there has been any doubt last time, there will be none this year: THIS WEEK, WE ARE THE FASHION CAPITAL!"

Applaus from the Audience, which is getting riled by some animators:

"CAN YOU HEAR ME, MUNDUS?"

Another rounds of cheers from the crowd:

"LETS MAKE SURE; WE WILL BE THE CAPITAL FOR YEARS TO COME, CELEBRATE WITH ME!"

Adelheid tosses the microphone to one of the Stage hand, as one of the Main Acts for the Evening enters the stage. She walks off to the Side. One show done, the whole Week to go.

Niameck Fashion Week 2020: Modest Fashion- Empowering women
« Reply #1 on: February 16, 2020, 07:33:39 PM »
Niameck City Square, 11.2.2020

Musaevna Kadyrov had been preparing for this event for months. She was engaged in numerous activities from business to charity and among them fashion was included. However, fashion in Tamora meant something different than in most other countries of Mundus because of the strict social norms of the Manist religion that dominated the country.

Musaevna saw the event in New Uburzis as an opportunity to expand her name  recognition internationally but also improve her standing at home by showing Tamorans that she was promoting Tamoran values aboard. She, together with her staff, set out to organize a show which aimed to show Tamoran fashion in a glamorous way and also promote the idea  that Tamoran values were expanding in other parts of Mundus. The presentation was designed with the thought of the public back home.

One issue she had to deal with was the fashion models, in Tamora being a fashion model was something frowned upon  and was a job reserved only to slaves. Naturally, she couldn’t bring her usual models in Neu Uburzis and risk causing an international incident relating to slavery. She also had to make sure there was no doubt in the minds of the people back home that the fashion models were not Tamoran or she would be accused of promoting immorality. It is for this reason that she chose to employ models from Phuebra and Zimalia, that way she figured there would be no misunderstandings.

She also wanted the show to give the impression that Tamora was succeeding in promoting its values aboard so she set out to find young fashion designers in Zimalia that were interested in designing cloths that were in accordance with Manist religious requirements. Such cloths were not very popular in Zimalia but with the amount of money Musaevna Kadyrov had available she managed to find one fashion designer that was willing to agree to all the conditions imposed by Musaevna.

The title of the fashion show would be: Modest Fashion- Empowering women

The show featured various clothing styles that were variations of the traditional Tamoran style which include abaya dress and hijab:

Various models from Phuebra and Zimalia presented the creations of Musaevna Kadyrov and Oldooz Bhaanja (the Zimalian fashion designer which presented her designs for the first time to an event).

At the end of the show Musaevna Kadyrov and the debutant Zimalian fashion designer, Oldooz Bhaanja, took to the stage. There Musaevna Kadyrov gave a brief speech:

I would like to thank my wonderful team and my friend Oldooz for all the hard work they did to pull this off, none of this would not have been possible without them.
This show is meant as a celebration of Tamoran values and modesty in general. Modesty is a value we hold very dear in Tamora and it is a mean through which we women are empowered and respected. But modesty is not just a Tamoran value, it is universal. Whether you are from MidAranye, Phuebra, Zimalia or anywhere else in Mundus, women understand the value of modesty and this show is dedicated to them.

Lastly, I would like to thank theInternational Women's Council, an initiative started by Her Majesty the Queen of Royal Seleucid that has expanded far beyond the borders MidAranye, for inspiring me to make this show, to our generous hosts for organizing this event, to my family for supporting me and to God without whom nothing would be possible.

Thank you.”

Niameck Fashion Week 2020: Tamoran ballet
« Reply #2 on: February 17, 2020, 08:17:48 PM »
The next part of the show would feature a ballet show by Tamora’s best dancers. They were the favorites of the Emperor of Tamora and in Tamora that meant they were considered the best. So proud was the Tamoran emperor of them that he took his old friend, the late king Akakios, to one of their shows in Djerb while the Seleucid king was in his honeymoon in Tamora. However, bringing the ballet show to the event was not an accident. The Nyx ballet which had recently performed in New Uburzis and dozens of other Mundus countries had taken Mundus by storm. While they had yet to perform in MidAranye and were unlikely to do so in the future, they nevertheless raised envy in many quarters of Djerb, including the Imperial Palace. By bringing the ballet show to New Uburzis, Tamora was attempting to compete with the titans such as the Nyx ballet by showing the uniqueness of Tamoran culture.

The Tamoran presenter, Imam Mardavij Godrej, took to the stage and addressed the guests:

“Honored guests, it is my great pleasure to present to you one of the greatest treasures of Tamoran culture. Such precious it is that the Emperor himself considered them his favorite show. From the federated kingdom of Vojvodina of the great Tamoran Empire we present you now the Circassian ballet show.”

The show had everything Tamorans enjoyed to see: elegance, beauty, opulence but also formality, rigidity and most importantly the opposite sexes avoided touching each other which is something that is frowned upon in Tamoran society. Even the main couple, when they briefly touched, their skin never made contact.

To say Amelia was nervous was perhaps the understatement of fashion week, she was stood backstage saying a whole host of silent prayers, this was ambitious in the logistical sense, the faint sound of the piano in the background was the tell tale sign of the choir that had been roped in to do the modelling tuning up. Standing next to her was Sam Baxter, her closest friend and Black Rose's senior designer, responsible primarily for one of the labels shows at Niameck in this case the street style one. They weren't the most headline grabbing label and doubtless they weren't the best known but that wasn't foremost in Amelia's mind. At this point the backstage piano faded and the stage lighting went down, there was the shuffling of feet as the models got themselves into position, at this point Renee came and stood beside Amelia while on Renee's other side was Cécile Alméras.

"I owe you one for this." Amelia said
"Thank the kids for being up for it and their parents for signing the permission slips to let this happen." Renee said
"Moment of truth." Sam said he was most likely as nervous as Amelia but he did a better job of hiding it.

On the stage the lights had come up on several of the models each of them for now apparently covered in a midnight blue cloak and hood lined with silver, then the music came on and the singing started, combining song, dance and modelling for a fashion show brought with it a lot of risk but also a great potential reward as well. On the cue of "they can say they can say it all sounds crazy" the show really got going the cloaks were cast aside in a wave of blue and silver revealing a selection of different street style outfits:

(OOC - No this is not King David appearing in a rival show in any way honest, tempting though that may be just imagine the outfit in the show)

In the wings Amelia stood and watched as the various cycles of models 'parade danced' their way around the stage before going backstage to change outfits and then reappeared this was the logistical issue of the show, but the youngsters knew how to put on a show and they were naturals in the spotlight, a change in song to This is Me signalled the show was in the home stretch, the song that had won the best international song in a motion picture at the Ozzie's in 2019 was a fitting finale to a show that had been all about personal expression. When the final note rang out and the audience applauded Amelia stood watching, smiling with pride, she nudged Sam with her elbow he'd done a damn fine job, she gave Renee a hug, then embraced Cécile before finally hugging Sam. There would be no speech's, no Amelia going up on stage, that wasn't her style she preferred to let the clothes do the talking.
