Flashbacks to a Crisis
« on: February 18, 2022, 11:40:24 PM »
To the leaders of Achkaerin, Quintelia and Vaguzia,

As you know, according to the treaty signed after the end of the Phuebran Civil War, foreign troops would stay in my country until 2022, and that year is now. first of all I'd like to send my gratitude for the efforts of your troops, even though Phuebra might still not be the safest country on Mundus, thanks to your help, the National Security situation has drastically improved children can now go to school, Phuebrans can visit malls, Muslims can visit their Mosques and Buddhists can visit their Temples.

We should however also not be blind for the harsh realities that we still face, my country is still frequently the victim of terror attacks, and in the rural areas of Phuebra heavily armed militia still control land.

This all in mind, i think it's the right time to set up a meeting to talk about the future of the military presence of country and the future of Phuebra, i would love to invite you or representatives of you in the Presidential Palace in Khyat to discuss these important matters together with me and the President.

Signed,
Prime Minister Sharaf bin Zaahid

To: Prime Minister Sharaf bin Zaahid

The situation in Phuebra is one we have monitored for many years now and I pay tribute to the Phuebran government's achievements in such a short time. In regards to your meeting I shall send Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chloe Murray and Deputy Minister of Defence Sally-Anne Seaborn as well as General James Robbins who commands Achkaerinese troops in Phuebra to represent Achkaerin at this meeting.

Signed

Emperor Peter Azurewind

To Prime Minister Sharaf bin Zaahid:

Salam! While I am glad to hear that there has been developments towards achieving peace and stability in the region, however I am aggrieved that the situation in the rural areas have not changed. Sadly, I cannot personally attend this meeting, however I will send Foreign Affairs Minister Sofia Allena and Admiral Dominic Empedrad to attend in my stead. I hope that this round of talks is as fruitful as the last one was and pave the way towards achieving true peace in the region.

May God bless you in this endeavor!

Truly yours,
King Lapu

It had been a few years now since the Free Phuebran Army and the Achkaerinese military had liberated Khyat from Jihadist rebels, that civil war had destroyed large parts of Khyat, and almost turned it into a ghost city at the end of the war, so it pleased Sharaf to see now that Khyat was pretty much completely back to normal, of course, there were military checkpoints everywhere throughout the city, but still, normal life had returned, there were parties, big markets and bazars and the city was once again filled with far too packed roads. Khyat was once again a city Sharaf was proud of when he received foreign guests, and this was the first time since the end of the war, a meeting with major countries such as Quintelia, Vaguzia and Achkaerin was held in Phuebra. Of course the meeting meant there had to be a lot of safety precautions but this was luckily assisted by very well trained Achkaerinese troops, there was a military band present waiting to play the national anthems of the guests, as well traditional Phuebran dancers who were going to give the guests a warm welcome. Sharaf looked confident as the first guests appeared to arrive.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Fabiano Franciosa and Minister of Defence Gabriel Tomassi both appeared to be a little bit nervous as they were sweating quite large amounts, although the insane heat and humidity probably didn't help either. They however also had reason to be a little nervous as neither of the Ministers had made a visit in a country such as Phuebra, where even tho they had the best troops keeping them save, it still had more danger to it than the average state visit, "i don't think I've ever seen so much military, even during my service" Fabiano said to Gabriel, and Gabriel appeared to laugh "Fabiano, my friend, you were a cook in the military, you have seen more Spaghetti than guns" he said, as both ministers bursted out laughing and seem to have forgotten their nerves.

Their heavily armoured limousine now had arrived at the Presidential Palace, where they saw that General Joubert had already arrived and awaited his Ministers. "General Joubert, what a pleasure to see you" Gabriel said as he walked out of the limousine, they shook hands while Joubert laughed and said "i see you are still adjusting to the tropical weather Gabriel!" Gabriel appeared to smile "the only thing that could save this meeting is a good plate of Phuebran food" he said with a wink. Phuebran food was quite popular in Vaguzia as it was brought to Vaguzia in the 60s as many Phuebrans migrated to Vaguzia and started restaurants in various Vaguzian cities. As Fabiano now also had arrived, the three of them now walked further, where the ceremony awaited them, first the Vaguzian anthem was played and then a group of Phuebrans in traditional clothes started dancing and banging on traditional drums as they put an necklace of blue painted stones around the neck of their guests, in Phuebra this is a sign of friendship. The Vaguzian guests appeared to feel a little bit uncomfortable with it all, but understood it was all meant in the best way, after the welcome ceremony Sharaf and his delegation walked towards the Vaguzian delegation "welcome my Vaguzian friends i hope you have enjoyed my home country so far!"

These kind of meetings were generally viewed as mixed bags in Valtheim, on the one hand it was about the future of a war torn nation, on the other there were the usual grumbles about Achkaerinese soldiers having been sent to sort out yet another mess in the first place, though that was more desperation on the part of politicians - no one ever liked sending people into battle, such debates were among the most reasoned in Liberty Hall. Today the responsibility for leading the line for Achkaerin was handed to the deputy minister of foreign affairs Chloe Murray and deputy minister of defence Sally-Anne Seaborn both women dressed appropriately, both well aware of what needed to be discussed, alongside them was General James Robbins, the CO of Achkaerinese forces in country, they'd arrived in a Lioness patrol vehicle, and after James had briefly socialised with the troops on guard duty the trio made their way inside.
