Mktvartvelo: Abstergo Industries latest software release to face regulatory challenge

The Ministry of Telecommuncations and Information has ordered the suspension of the present and future commercialization of the aOS and Nexus technology and related products in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. The decision came following an administrative ruling of the Department of Consumption, which had warned that the products were likely to enter in conflict with existing regulatory norms and data privacy concerns.

The administrative ruling coincided by a report published by the State College for National Security and Foreign Policy, written by Lt. Col. Avtandil Gegetchkori, which warned that the last Abstergo technology could pose "a serious danger to data privacy and a national security risk". Mr. Gegetchkori was recently appointed in an advisory body recently established by the national government. However, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information has assured that there are no connections between the ministry and the Mktvartvelian scholar, and the administrative ruling of the Department of Consumption was issued independently of the mentioned report. Tsavs Talgha radio declared that they got confirmation from Gegetchkori that his advisory role has not any connection with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information.

While the suspension would be only temporarily until a further and definitive ruling were established by an inter-ministerial independent commission, it will not allow the mentioned products to be legally sold in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, nor to be used by other companies for their products commercialized in the country.

Mktvartvelo: New nationalist political party endorses national government

National Renovation (MKTERAG) held their first congress last weekend in Sachkhumi, Mktvartvelo. The congress gathered more than 500 delegates, which approved the electoral platform proposed by the joint commission which organized the congress, and elected the Executive Central Committee for a 2-year term.

Levan Mikaberidze, former Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, was elected as General Secretary of National Renovation. He will also head the Coordination Electoral Committee, which will be encharged with nominate and approve candidates to the coming legislative election, in which Mikaberidze himself will be standing as a candidate.

The Congress Final Resolution stated that the aim of the organization will be to "become a legislative forced aimed to strengthen the national sovereignty and security of our nation, as well as promoting the interests and prosperity of the common citizen". The electoral platform approved by the congress, with a number of amends, has been described as nationalist and left-leaning.

In a statement given to the media before the congress, National Renovation claimed to currently have about 25,000 members nationwide. Seven members in Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia's administration are said to be members of the organization, although none of them personally attended the congress. They are expected to resign as soon as the electoral campaign officially starts, according to previous reports. The Congress Final Resolution endorsed Kvirkvelia's government for "bringing the nation toward the right path, enforcing a clear vision of strength, prosperity, and security". According to official reports, however, Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia remained unaffiliated to any political party or parliamentary block.

Mktvartvelo: Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia gives interview to liberal newspaper

Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia was interviewed by newspaper "Dazverva", the second largest newspaper in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. The four-page interview covered a wide number of topics, from foreign policy to economy. However, the most commented issue was the Prime Minister confirmation that he is willing to continue as Prime Minister after February and March election.

When asked why he did not choose to run as candidate to the coming election, Kvirkvelia replied that "I have no ambition to have a long political career. I was called to lead the government and I accepted that nomination and challenge to serve our nation with only patriotic duty and responsibility". The Prime Minister, however, was rather evasive when asked about the circumstances of the fall of Samadashvili's government and his own nomination as Prime Minister, replying "I do not wish to speak for others or speculate about personal judgement and motivations which are either unknown or irrelevant".

Prime Minister Kvirkvelia declared that his government is pleased that "common sense, despite a number of current challenges, has prevailed in the international community" and that Rokkenjima's proposal of a "Concert of Democracies" were met with a failure so far. "The last thing the world needs, it is nation-states promoting any kind of ideological crusade, independently of the good intentions or high values that motivated such decision...Every nation has the right to decide their future in their own terms", he continued, "and we aim to promote peace and security through cooperation and dialogue". The Prime Minister declared, however, despite this policy, his government aims to find understanding and cooperation in other issues with such important nation as Rokkenjima.

Kvirkvelia denied claims that his government moved too slowly in the diplomatic field in the last month. "Diplomatic relations are complicated and their fruits are not always immediate", he replied. "It is natural that we destined much more political capital to some domestic issues", he insisted. "Only through strength, cooperation and peace can be built. He defended some of the policies and reform that his government has pursued, even if some of them did not find understanding abroad. "I'm proud to have led toward a stronger and fairer future to our citizens, a path that we aim to continue". The Prime Minister, however, rejected the call of a small but increasing number of candidates calling for the need of a written constitution. " It is not something that is needed and demanded by our citizens. Such political project would consume so much legislative and political energy to lead to nowhere and create more division. No, we need to focus on the real problems and challenges which are affecting the people. That's where we are focused right now".

Radical Democratic Party signs agreement with Juglander Progressive Liberal Party

The Progressive Liberal Party has signed a "Memorandum Of Understanding" with Mktvartvelo's Radical Democratic Party, a political party which was created only a few weeks ago.

Both political parties have signaled in the document their agreement in an important number of issues and policies, and a pledge to cooperate. The agreement, however, clearly states that both political parties did not join any kind of coalition. The Progressive Liberal Party candidates are expected to join an independent parliamentary group, but both parties agreed to "explore cooperation in the parliamentary appointments".

The Radical Democratic Party also stated that they do not plan to participate in the next local election in Jugland, and that both parties will explore cooperation to avoid standing candidates for the National Assembly in Juglander candidates where any of the parties may damage a realistic chance for any [of them] to obtain representation.

The Progressive Liberal Party, largest parliamentary group in the Juglander Legislative Assembly, has denied claims that the agreement is a first step to become a local branch of a Mktvartvelian political party. Instead, "the memorandum serves the aim to find cooperation with those alligned with our views toward the status quo, and in order to defend Juglander interests in the National Assembly in those laws which affect our rights and interests", the Progressive Liberal Party co-chairman declared.

Mktvartvelo: Tariel Tavadze to run as Conservative Party candidate

Former minister Tariel Tavadze has announced that he will run as candidate to the National Assembly in the coming legislative elections. A former religious magistrate and Chairman of the High Court of Appeal from 2015 to 2022, he served as Minister of Religious Affairs under the governments of Prime Ministers Bidzina Samkharadze and Gocha Mokleadze.

Despite serving as minister under Prime Minister Bidzina Samkharadze's liberal-leaning government, Tavadze has been endorsed by the Conservative Party, which gathers most of the current members of the so-called Conservative block in the National Assembly, including former Prime Minister Gela Berdzenishvili, currently a member in the Council of State. However, a group of conservative lawmakers, including Irakli Bneladze, will run as candidates under a different platform, named "Coalition of the True Right" (MSK).

Tavadze also announced his official resignation as member of the Supreme Committe of the Order of Simartlea. His membership in the Supreme Committee was suspended since his appointment as Minister in early 2022.

Mktvartvelo: Most successful TV show to say goodbye

Nino Gamrekeli, renowned as the "Queen of the Nights" in Mktvartvelo, has announced that her TV show "Bolo Pikrebi", will broadcast its last night at the end of the week after seven years.

"Bolo Pikrebi", is a television program with a live audience focusing on comedy, entertainment, music, as well as social life and politics, which has been broadcast in ERT (the state television channel) since 2017. The program became soon one of the most popular programs in television in Mktvartvelo, which made her one of the best paid journalists in the country, as well as being awarded six times as the "Best Talk Show" in the "Okros Mikroponi" Awards (as well as Gamrekeli being voted three times as "Anchor of the Year" by the Mktvartvelian National Association of Journalism).

"Bolo Pikrebi" may have been often criticized in printed media for its alleged superficiality and its focus on "soft interviews" to guests, which could be actors, singers, sportspeople, politicians, or celebrities of diverse range (including those who may be more well-known for their appearance in gossip media rather for their professional success), but it has remained as the most viewed TV show as a daily 45-minute show every evening. The program has consistently being the most viewed show with a 20.1% share (or 33,434,650 average viewers).

"It is a sad announcement because I expected we would continue many more years", Gamrekeli declared. "However, everything that starts meet its final, and we were not going to be different...I'm proud of the success we met, leaving at our peak and being the envy of all the other channels, and all the love the audience has showed in these years".

Gamrekeli did not specified the causes of the cancellation or if she would leave ERT. She is expected to host ERT New Year's Eve special program at the end of the year, in a few weeks. However, the fact that the program will finish next Friday, only two days after the start of the electoral campaign, along the fact that her brother, Avtandil Gamrekeli (former head of ERK, the state-owned network which ERT belongs, from 2018 to 2022), has been recently hired as communication strategist by the Conservative Party, had led to the speculation about political causes for the decision. However, ERK has denied this, arguing that it is part about a general policy aimed to diversify and modernize the television channel under recently approved new standards.

Nino Gamrekeli thanked fans for their support in another social media message, but it does not look that the ERK leadership will change their mind on the decision.

Sports: FK Albrektberg crisis continues

FK Albrektberg, the most successful club in men's football in Jugland, which has dominated the last decade with seven league titles in eight years, is facing an unexpected crisis of results. Last night, FK Albrektberg failed to defeat away Nanko FC, which promoted this season, to draw 1-1.

While FK Albrektberg avoided a fourth league defeat in ten matches (last season they only lost two league matches in twenty-eight games) with a late goal scored by midfielder Hugleikrarr Engelsaas, the players looked exasperated once again. FK Albrektberg has only won one match in the five league matches (including a second defeat against their main rivals, EMAC Albrektberg, by 2-0).

Despite a wave of injuries since the beginning of the season as well as during the return from the Mundus World Cup, FK Albrektberg Okoda Shingo declared that they are well aware that there can not be more excuses while asking fans for more patience. "I accept full responsibility", Shingo declared, "but there can't be doubts about the compromise of these players and their quality...A bigger challenge is ahead us now, I am confident that a different mood will prevail at the end of the season".

Meanwhile, EMAC Albrektberg equalized their all-time away record by defeating SK Nordheim by 1-7 and increased their lead in the classification to five points ahead of FK Sandberg, which displaced FK Albrektberg from the second position after defeating SK Midtenstadt 1-2 in a evenly-matched match.

Mktvartvelo: Government to introduce "social salary"

Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia issued a Government Decree establishing legislation aimed to introduce a "social salary" for those who have been unemployed for more than six months. The "Social Salary Act" would grant those who have been unemployed for the last six month  the right to request for a social allowance of around 80% of the minimum salary for at least four months. The requisite for such government allowance would be being registered as a person seeking for a job and the duty to register in free training courses approved by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The so-called "Social Salary" could be only renewed a maximum of three times, only for unemployed citizens which the administration considers they under "extraordinary personal and economic circumstances".

In Mktvartvelo, a Government Decree becomes immediately into law, without the approval of the National Assembly, but it requires the National Assembly approves it before 60 days. Some MPs have expressed criticism that, due to electoral period, that would leave them with only 15 natural days to discuss and approve or reject the decree.

MP Orivegza Mgaloblishvili, who served as Minister of the Treasury under Prime Minister Bidzina Samkharadze's government, has declared that it "is a proposal worthy of debate, but in the current circumstances, without the right to discuss and add amends to it, it can only be rejected on principle". Other lawmakers and candidates have denounced the proposal as "electoral propaganda", one Conservative Party candidate going as far as declaring it "an attempt of buying votes", as it was register and approved barely one day before the start of the electoral campaign.

Government spokesperson Inga Ushkaladze has insisted that the seriousness and importance of the problem the legislation aims to address is justification for the requirement of such fast-track legislative procedure.

Mktvartvelo: National Renovation calls for a "national revolution from above"

As the electoral campaign for the legislative, provincial, and local elections started, the National Renovation (MKTERAG), a recently crated pro-government political party, currently rising in most polls, held their inaugural electoral rally in Ktsatskuri, capital city of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. The rally, which gathered a large crowd, was held in Gmirta Moedani, in an intersection between a largely middle-class district and a working class one.

Levan Mikaberidze, General Secretary of National Renovation, and a candidate to the National Assembly himself, introduced and endorsed Shalva Kazbegishvili, who will run as candidate in the closer electoral constituency. In his speech, however, Mikaberidze did not speak much about policy or the party platform. Instead, he announced that [National Renovation] had arrived to push toward "the continuation of a new era in our nation" calling from a "political revolution from above".

"A time for complacency and passivity has died", Mikaberidze argued. "It is time the state understands and assists the needs of the nation and its citizen with strength and energy. Unity through strength should be our only method. Complacency only leads us to stagnation, and strengthen our enemies to destroy us. It has become evident", Mikeberidze continued, "that the true destruction can only come from within. A weak order only can produce chaos, a revolution born from inequality,  violence, and humiliation, which will only bring desolation and even the dissolution of the nation. It has therefore become a duty that the state brings a revolution from above, recovering and strengthening the nation in all its glory and strength".

Such revolution, according to Mikaberidze, "will the organized, planned, and rational", without entering much in details in policy. "Ambition does not move us", Mikaberidze insisted, "and we have come to move the nation toward the right direction". Mikaberidze, however, insinuated that a written constitution is not exactly in his mind, unlike other smaller political parties which called for such proposal. There were barely a mention of foreign policy, however, besides Kazbegishvili himself who assured that "the terms of our social pact will never be dictated from outside, and our nation will have the strength to determine its our future and operate according our interests abroad".

It is not clear if National Renovation aims to enter in the government after the legislative government, as Mikaberidze once again praised Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia while insisting that "a step more is required to move to the required direction".

Mktvartvelo: Prominent young left-leaning MP joins Radical Democratic Party

MP Eter Vazhkania announced that she has joined the Radical Democratic Party. Vazhkania, who was elected to the National Assembly in early 2023, a former activist and campaigned,  has belonged to the left-wing block of the National Assembly. "What our nation needs the most in the current circumstances, it is a strong parliamentary group that pushes toward true democracy and fight both inequality and corruption without hesitation",  Vazkhania declared. "I am confident that the representatives and activists that have established the Radical Democratic Party, will be the wheel toward that progressive goal".

The Radical Democratic Party is a center-left political party which mains proposal is the approval of a written constitution for the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. Vazkhania's announcement was heavily debated in social media and left-leaning news websites, as a large number of the left-wing MPs in the National Assembly decided to join the Social National Party, which self-styled itself as a socialist and nationalist political party.

Vazhkania is expected to participate in several rallies and conferences in support of other Radical Democratic Party candidates through the country in the coming weeks.

Sports: SK Midtenstadt on the lead

For first time this season, SK Midtenstadt, Juglander women's football First Division champion in the last four seasons, takes the lead in the league classification after winning Stromendalen Naiset away by 1-3.

The surprising defeat of AJK against Hiyoken United by 0-2 allows SK Midtenstadt to lead the classification with one point ahead of both AJK and SK Nordheim. The latter had defeated SK Hammarrland yesterday by 2-1 in an evenly-matched match.

Meanwhile, EMAC Albrektberg suffered another defeat -the fourth this season and five matches- as they lost 1-0 away against Kaeshigai FC, and it will remain as bottom team in the league one matchday  more. EMAC Albrektberg has met the restart of the season after the World Cup with two defeats, although there is still plenty of times for reaction, they are already five points behind to salvation.

Next weekend, SK Midtenstadt will receive AJK in an expected match between the two main contenders to the league title.

Sports: FC Ketilshobili wins 2023-2024 Mktvartvelian Premier League

Against most expectations, FC Ketilshobili proclaimed champion of the Mktvartvelian Premier League for first time.

The club from Ktsatskuri were three points behind the incumbent champions, Mezgvauri Azavrelia, after drawing their match away against Tsiteli Raindi Abakha last week. Mezgvauri Azavrelia only needed a draw to repeat the title they conquested last season. However, Mezgvauri Azavrelia, to the frustration of their fans, lost at home against Magharoeli Azavrelia, with a goal scored in the second half. In the first half, local midfielder Eldar Akhvlediani had failed to score a penalty kick which later proved decisive.

FC Ketilshobili did not fail, although they failed to play their best football, and they defeated Mamatsi Zugdilisi by 1-0 with a goal scored by striker Kam Han-jae. Celebrations erupted as soon as the referee whistled the end of the match. FC Ketilshobili becomes the first Ktsatskuri to win an official national title since the establishment of the Mktvartvelian Premier League.

In another league titles which was a close battle between the two most important clubs of the country, both teams ended with the same number of points, which the title decided in favour of FC Ketilshobili as they defeated -in both times by one goal to nil- their rival in their two direct matches.

FC Ktsatskuri, known as "The Dean of Ktsatskuri" for being the oldest football club from the capital city, was not able to with the final match against FC Tsnumi, which ended scoreless, and it will be relegated along FC Duruji Tsakha. Meanwhile, another Ktsatskuri club, Chikhura Ktsatskuri, will face a relegation/promotion playoff.

Mktvartvelo: Union endorses fifty-six candidates in the coming legislative election

In an unprecedented move, the All-Mktvartvelian Labour Union (SMSK), considered the second largest union organization in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, has endorsed candidates to the National Assembly and the Council of State. SMSK General Secretary, Otar Basalaiashvili, argued that the union leadership, in consultation with its industrial and territorial chambers, had agreed to do so, under a clear majority, to protect the interests of the workers of the country.

"Unions need to be understood as a primary and vital actor in the civic society", General Secretary Basalaiashvili argued, "and therefore it should not be expected they remain neutral in political and parliamentary competition". In the appendix of the resolution passed by SMSK national leadership, fifty-six candidates to the National Assembly and six to the Council of State were endorsed by the union.

Basalaiashvili clarified that members of the union as well as the local unions where those candidates are running to office will not be expected to be required to vote or campaign for such candidates but to "exercise freely their individual judgement as citizens". The included reasons for the endorsement of the candidates include their previous records in support of labour and social policy, their positions on working rights, unions, or welfare in their candidate platform, or their membership to an union or pro-labour organizations.

The candidates endorsed included 34 candidates from the nationalist National Renovation, 18 candidates for the Social National Party, one candidate from the center-left Radical Democratic Party, two independents, and another candidate from Republican Initiative.

Some SMSK members, however, has publicly expressed their criticism about the final resolution, as National Renovation is viewed as a pro-government political party and despite the issued pardon toward some SMSK prominent representatives who faced prison sentences as consequence of a national strike deemed as illegal, the current government is viewed by some members as complicit at best against attacks toward workers rights. The SMSK leadership, however, at least under Otar Basalaiashvili, seems aimed toward a more constructive approach toward the executive and their political allies.

Sports: FC Azavrelia wins "Azavrelia Derby" in Mktvartvelo's Cup final

In a repeat of the last season Brzdmtsveli Cup final, FC Azavrelia defeated their archenemies Mezgvauri Azavrelia by 1-0 to proclaim champions of the domestic cup, in the first title since the establishment of the Mktvartvelian Premier League.

Mezgvauri Azavrelia came as the favourite, despite losing the league title last week to defend their title in the last match of the season. However, as last week, their attackers proved unable to pierce their rivals' defense. A goal scored by midfielder Shalva Khakhetishvili in the last minute of the first half gave FC Azavrelia an advantage that they did not allow to be taken away.

The match was heated and tense, with more than fourteen players of either team seeing a yellow card through the match. However, despite their control of the ball during most of the second half, Mezgavauri Azavrelia proved unable to generate enough clear chances against the opposite defense, resulting in the intense but thrilling final.

"Both teams showed a great performance, fans of both teams should be proud of the effort of their players", Zhuldyz Birinseli, Vice-Chairman of the Mktvartvelo Professional Premier League as well as owner of FC Azavrelia, declared. "I am, of course, very happy about this trophy which for many of our fans and younger players can only be a dream, even if the first one of many more to come, becoming true".

After the referee whistled the end of the match, celebrations erupted both in Ktsatskuri, where the final was held, and Azavrelia, as well some violent altercations between fans of both sides even if without serious consequences.

The season could not end better for FC Azavrelia after another disappointing season in the league, where they finished sixth about twenty points behind the league champions and runners-up. On the opposite side, Mezgavauri Azavrelia, after winning both league and cup last season, started the season as the main favourites but which now ended trophyless.

"We failed in those few moments which mattered the most", player Eldar Akhvlediani declared. "It is not a reason for radical changes or lose our mind, of  course, but we should learn a lesson to avoid the same mistakes next season. We are committed with the club and fans, and we will try to bring happiness to them soon enough".

Sports: FC Tsagedia wins Mktvartvelo's women's football league

FC Tsagedia successfully concluded their dream and, after defeating Orbi Baghdatsqaro by 2-1 in their last league match, proclaimed champions of the Mktvartvelian women's football league against all expectations. Some observers have described FC Tsagedia as a "Cinderella story in real life".

FC Tsagedia started the matchday with the same points with the other remaining candidate to the title, Avaza Ktsatskuri. FC Tsagedia had led the league since defeating precisely Avaza Ktsatskuri last Spring, only needed to win their match - or at least, to have the same result than Avaza Ktsatskuri in their match against FC Tolia Lagotsminda, the last club in the league classification.

FC Tsagedia, however, was unable to score in the first forty-five minutes against Orbi Baghdatsqaro. The local team would be finally able to score in the 57 and 63 minutes, when two crosses into their rival crowded area were converted to approach the local team to the title. Nerves would return after the 79 minute to the end of the match, when Orbi Baghdatsqaro striker scored after a poorly defended counter-attack. Both joy and relief erupted for both local players and fans after the match finally ended.

It is the first official title for FC Tsagedia, which nobody -even themselves- may have dreamed that the club from Tsagedia, sixth city in Mktvartvelo, would conquest the title. FC Tsagedia has a budget of $1.8 million way behind other women's football clubs such as Olimpi Azavrelia, Avaza Ktsatskuri, or FC Martvilisi. Last season, FC Tsagedia finished 9th, evading the relegation only in the last match. It may be that their football this season may not be remembered -besides their own fans- for their overly defensive but effective tactics (with 24 goals scored in 22 matches). However, it does not look that such criticism is shared by the club and fans after such a feat. FC Tsagedia combination of veteran and young players proved successful against more prestigious squads.

"Nobody deserved this more than you",  Mktvartvelian player Tsminda Nemsadze wrote in a social media post. Nemsadze had played 13 matches as FC Tsagedia goalkeeper earlier this season, before she was signed by Juglander club AJK on September with a record transfer.

Despite their numerous chances, Avaza Ktsatskuri match against FC Tolia Lagotsminda ended scoreless, leaving Avaza Ktsatskuri as runners-up two points behind the league champions. The result was futile for the away team, which will face relegation along FC Gurjumi. FC Tolia Lagotsminda proved to be able of the best and the worst this season, winning the Brzdmtsveli Cup against Olimpi Azavrelia last September while finishing at the bottom of the league.

Mktvartvelo: 24 arrested following wave of blood revenge murders

A wave of blood feuds have resulted in six murders in less than forty days. The situation has led to a police operation which has resulted in at least 24 people arrested on several charges.

All the murders happened in the same province, with the only exception of the last one, a week ago, which happened in a prison nearby Sighoni.

While these "blood payments" were banned and became rarer after the 1926 legal reform, they still appear occasionally under certain circumstances in some rural areas. All the murders and suspects seem to belong to three different clans, twenty-one men and three women in total, according to Akheli Ambebi newspaper.

The last murder and police operation happened in the final days of the electoral campaign and most political parties and candidates have condemned the wave of revenge murders. Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia has declared that "no citizen has the right to take the blood of another person outsides the law".

Only the Memkhvidreoba ("Heritage") political party, a political party established by some members of the traditionalist faction in the National Assembly, has distanced in their reaction while condemning and lamenting every criminal act declaring and "sending our solidarity to the close relatives of each victim" that such conflict between private citizens may become "a product of successive legal reforms that left families without a way to deal with their honour within the law".

On the other hand, MP Nino Shalikashvili, from the Radical Democratic Party, has proposed legislation establishing an extra legal punishment for those who commit crimes under such motivation in order to discourage such criminal acts.

Sports: Coach Okoda Shingo leaves FK Albrektberg

FK Albrektberg announced they have reached an agreement with their coach Okoda Shingo so both "part ways with immediate effect".  Okoda Shingo had been the coach of men's FK Albrektberg since Summer 2020. In this four seasons,  Shingon led the club to continue with their winning streak with three league titles and two Juglander Cups.

However, the bad results this season, with 4 losses (the same amount for the whole league season last year) in 13 matches, with the club facing their worst results in 30 years, had led FK Albrektberg to sack Shingo as the team approaches the half of the league season.

The last straw was another defeat at home against FK Sandberg (0-1), which leaves the team third in the classification, tens point behind EMAC Albrektberg, who had drawn the same day against SK Stromendalen, and seven points behind FK Sandberg.

"It is nothing but gratitude what we feel toward Mr. Okoda Shingo who has helped us to write some of the most brilliant pages of club story in the last season.  However, the current circumstances forces us to take this decision on behalf of the club and our fans...We wish Mr. Okoda Shingo the best of luck in his future and immediate endeavors".

It is rumoured that Martin Siimes, Jugland's men's national football coach from 2018 to 2024 to be the chosen replacement for Okoda Shingo as FK Albrektberg coach for the rest of the season.

Mktvartvelo: Believers celebrate "Mothers' Day"

Millions of Mktvartvelians will celebrate today Saqurebsi festivity, one of the most important religious holidays in the Order of Simartlea.

The Saqurebsi festivity, held the last day of the Surtsqunisi month, is consecrated to the souls of the women of your family (deceased mothers and other female ancestors) who are believed to watch over their descendants from the Underworld. Besides rites and offerings in temples and shrines of the Order of Simartlea, relatives and couples gather around bonfires or candles.

This year, Brzdmtsveli Ketevan is said to be expected to attend a more private gathering to celebrate the festivity in the Mtsvanegoraki Forest, nearby the Shoreuli Sakhli Palace in Ktsatskuri, capital city of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo.

Mktvartvelo prepares for unprecedented legislative election

Voters in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo will vote in legislative election tomorrow, in order to elect 120 seats in the National Assembly and 13 representatives in the Council of State. It will be the first legislative election since electoral and parliamentary restrictions were removed following a legislative reform.

While the National Assembly does not directly elect the national government, the result is expected to decide if Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia will remain in power. While Kvirkvelia is not running himself to the parliament, he has been endorsed by left-leaning nationalist National Renovation (MKTERAG), which will include two former ministers of his administration. Support for the nationalist coalition increased after Kvirkvelia appeared in a National Renovation electoral rally in support for Otar Pkhakadze, an independent candidate endorsed for the organization. Currently, against all prospects, National Renovation is predicted to have a vote around 37.1% according to the survey.

The Liberal Democratic Party, a political party established by the leading members of the Liberal faction in the National Assembly, is posed to obtain 24-29% of the vote, despite to run to election without a declared candidate to Prime Minister. They expect to become the largest parliamentary group of the National Assembly, well positioned in case Kvirkvelia's government will not continue following the election.

Most of the prominent and experienced members of the Conservative block in the National Assembly have gathered around the Conservative Party, which has gained the support of such figures as former Prime Minister Gela Berdzenishvili, and server former ministers who served in the national government in the last two decades. However, the Conservative Party has failed to gain ground in the polls, as it is expected to  fall toward  6-9% of the vote. It is the so-called Coalition of the True Right (MMK), established by another prominent MP from the Conservative block, Irakli Bneladze, which most conservative voters are willing to vote, up to 12-14% of the vote. Still, the Conservative Party is expected to remain the second largest parliamentary group as more than one hundred MPs have declared their allegiance to the party.

Center-left Radical Democratic Party and the left-wing nationalist Social National Party, along the traditionalist Heritage coalition have experienced a raise in the poll during the last week. However, it is difficult to predict if they will be able to obtain an important number of seats against either National Renovation or the traditional parties. On  the other hand, the Moderate Alliance, formed by prominent members of the Moderate block of the National Assembly, finds itself in the opposite situation, as they are expected to obtain a 4-6% of the vote and lose about fifteen MPs.

Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia has reportedly visited his family during the holidays and he is expected to remain in Azavrelia during the election day.

Mktvartvelo: Tamaz Eksanishvili elected as Speaker of the National Assembly

Tamaz Eksanishvili, from the Coalition of the True Right, was elected as Speaker of the National Assembly after defeating Tinatin Chelnokidze, from the Liberal Democratic Party, by 266-248, in the final voting round in the National Assembly.

Despite the three political parties and coalitions emerged from the traditional blocks of the National Assembly (the Conservative Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the Moderate Alliance) having more than half the seats in the National Assembly, they had failed to leave aside their differences following the recent legislative assembly, held ten days ago.

Then, the pro-government National Renovation obtained a 37.9% of the vote, obtaining 42 seats in the National Assembly, and becoming the third largest parliamentary group in the National Assembly, with 90 MPs of 599.

The Liberal Democratic Party came second with 21.9%, and despite losing 19 seats, they will become the largest parliamentary group in the National Assembly with 135 of 599 seats.

The election of Orivegza Mgaloblishvili  as Speaker of the Liberal Democratic parliamentary group, seemed to increase the chances of understanding between the majority of the National Assembly toward an alternative government to Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia. Mgaloblishvili himself, after all, had been affiliated with the Moderate faction of the National Assembly before being appointed First Deputy Prime Minister in Bidzina Samkharadze's Liberal-led 2022-2023 government.

The move was heavily contested by Levan Mikaberidze, General Secretary of National Renovation, who argued that the voters had openly rejected "the old majority" in the polls. Instead, he proposed that the 479 seats who were not contested in this year legislative election to resign immediately so voters have the right to decide on a parliament majority which "truly reflects the will of the people". The proposal was met with both opposition and ridicule, but chances for a understanding seemed to collapse following the withdrawal announcement by the incumbent Speaker of the National Assembly Ramaz Kintsurashvili after he only received 66 votes in the first round of the vote last Friday.

Although Eksanishvili only received 65 votes in the first round of the vote last Friday, he successively gained the support of the traditionalist Heritage coalition, the pro-government National Renovation, as well as the nationalist Social National Party, as well as a large number of conservative MPs in the last round, as the Conservative Party parliamentary group did not impose a vote preference as the Conservative Party candidate lost in the eight round.

Tamaz Eksanishvili will meet the Prime Minister and the leaders of the nine parliamentary groups in the coming hours, before meeting Brzdmtsveli Ketevan tomorrow. It is expected that he will communicate he Brzdmtsveli the ausence of an alternative majority to Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia's government, as it has been reported by main Mktvartvelian newspapers.

Mktvartvelo: Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia announces new government

Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia announced a government reshuffle following his meeting with Brzdmtsveli Ketevan.

The national government will include seven members of the pro-government National Renovation (MKTERAG) and three ministers endorsed by the left-wing nationalist Social National Party, following discussions with both parliamentary groups. The move is viewed as an attempt to assure a wider support for the government in the National Assembly. Two independent ministers were also appointed. Both were previously associated with the Conservative block in the parliament.

Prime Minister Kvirkvelia declared that the national government will work with every parliamentary group to advance legislation. The national government is confident that it will be able to find cooperation with the Liberal and Conservative parliamentary groups, the two largest parliamentary groups in the National Assembly.

Some Conservative MPs have criticized the inclusion of what they see as "people of dubious profiles" and a "radical minority" into the national government for a first time.

A prominent commentator called the government as a "Kursdamtavrebulta Asotsiatsia" Administration or "government of former graduates", in reference of the large number of ministers who were former graduates or professors at the State College for National Security and Foreign Policy, a prestigious state university, which is well-known for being associated with graduates from the military career or the cadres of the ministries of National Defense and Foreign Affairs.

Mktvartvelo: Regulatory authorities issues commercial ban on Abstergo-developed technology

The Second Inter-ministerial Independent Council has reviewed a previous ruling of the Department of Consumption, under the authority of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information, regarding the latest aOS and Nexus technology developed by the Abstergo Corporation.

The council has ruled that "after reviewing all evidence presented by all parties" the mentioned products violate several existing regulatory norms and directives, including data privacy regulation and the State Security Powers Act of 1974. As a consequence, the council has issued a permanent ban of that technology and related products developed by Abstergo Industries, for the violation of data privacy, and their threat to the safety of both consumers and citizens, as well as their risk regarding national security, the 34-page rule states.

The rule bans the mentioned technology to be commercialized in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo on a permanent basis. While the ruling does not strictly prohibits the use of the technology in the country, it gives the national government the right to impose sanctions to companies who may attempt to distribute it and bans the use of the technology by state employees and state institutions.

The company has the right to provide further evidence to the Department of Consumption, but this does not automatically assures a new ruling by the council. The company will retain their right to appeal in ordinary courts, but the legislation established that the suspension of commercialization will likely remain until the court of last appeal, experts seem to agree.

Mktvartvelo: Government spokesperson responds to Abstergo Industries controversy

Inga Ushkaladze, the national government spokesperson, addressed the latest controversy regarding Abstergo Industries and the government of Rokkenjima. "We are, of course, surprised about the unbustantiated claims, particularly from Abstergo Industries, which undoubtedly should have known better".

The national government spokesperson assured that the case in which Abstergo Industries was involved was clear and transparent, in accordance with the law. "The regulatory authorities, as the national government, have no options but to apply the existing regulations and legislation", Ushkaladze argued. "The rule of law does not know any kind of exception, particularly in the defense of the interests of consumers and citizens, independently how powerful are those who have failed to meet the standards of the law".

"Our institutions and courts can not chose to ignore regulations and laws", Ushkaladze continued, "and we are convinced that issuing threats and ultimatums are not a proper way to conduct diplomacy between two sovereign states. Our national government aims to build constructive diplomatic relations with any foreign government, including the First Empire of Rokkenjima, and therefore we hope that the Rokkenjima government would reconsider their aim to threaten companies based in Mktvartvelo with no serious legal basis".

"Abstergo Industries", she added, "as any private entity, has the right to defend their interests on the courts. However, the judiciary is independent so political threats as well as attempts to damage third parties, will always be a futile legal strategy in our view".

Mktvartvelo: Liberal Democratic Party discusses road to power

Orivegza Mgaloblishvili, parliamentary spokesperson of the Liberal Democratic Party, has expressed his criticism of the first days of Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia's new cabinet. "In recent months, the Prime Minister and his team appeared to us with an aura of independence and moderation", Mgaloblishvili declared, "but such pretension seems to be gone right now". In his brief declaration to the media, Mglaloblishvili also addressed the latest controversy. "Yes, it is the role of the authorities to enforce the law", he declared. "However, I feel this situation, partly a misunderstanding, could be addressed better with a better diplomatic effort. I would have addressed the situation in a different way, even if I admit that conflict of interests are sometimes difficult to deal".

Orivegza Mgaloblishvili met with the Liberal Democratic parliamentary group, as well as the twenty-one LDP-aligned non-permanent members of the Council of State, for second time this week. During the gathering, which was held at close doors in the newly inaugurated headquarters of the center-left political party, they discussed the recent results in the last legislative election. While the Liberal Democratic Party was the second most voted political party, only behind the National Renovation coalition, and increased their lead as the largest parliamentary group in the National Assembly, they obtained a poor result in the main urban areas, where the National Renovation and the Radical Democratic Party attracted more voters.

Mglaloblishvili, who received the support of 88 of the Liberal Democratic Party parliamentary representatives to become the speaker of the Liberal Democratic Party parliamentary group, offered his view of the situation. "We have become the only alternative to the current government, and we need to prove ourselves as such to the voters now", Mglaloblishvili had declared to his colleagues according to a source, the Tsin newspaper reported. Mglaloblishvili had declared that it was their turn to become in the loyal opposition to Prime Minister Kvirkvelia and prepare their road to power by way of obtaining a larger majority in a year.

In such 1-year plan to the national government, a majority of the Liberal Democratic Party seems convinced that it is time to prove their competence from the opposition while building bridges with other parliamentary groups. "We need to avoid the temptation of being too strident or impatient, the government will not be gained through the streets or with provocations", he argued according to another source. "Our time will arrive not between halls but through the main gardens", a close associate to the Liberal Democratic Party speaker would have agreed. Addressing the media after the meeting, Mglaloblishvili added that his parliamentary group will be ready to offer constructive dialogue and cooperation to the national government in important issues.

Only time will tell if such it is the opposition that the people of Mktvartvelo's awaits and demands.

Mktvartvelo: Sanctions against Abstergo Industries announced

As the ambassador in the First Empire of Rokkenjima was recalled back in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued sanctions against Abstergo Industries.

The Ministry of Foreign has announced that sanctions will include asset freezes, restriction on financial services and insurance, prohibition on transactions and an order to cease banking relationships and activities with Abstergo Industries in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, with the only exception of those cases where such relation is strictly necessary.

For those exceptions, including the right to the export or reexport of most items, businesses must obtain a licence from the Minister of International Trade and Cooperation in order to allow the activity to take place.

The sanctions will be imposed to Abstergo Industries as well as all its subsidiary and affiliated companies.

"We are forced to take this decision in response of the First Empire of Rokkenjima announcement of sanctions against a number of companies based or established in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo without any kind of legal justification", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared as well that "further actions may be announced" soon in case that was necessary.

Six MPs leave the Conservative Party

Six MPs from the Conservative parliamentary group have announced that they will leave the Conservative Party.

Mamuka Kurtukadze, who has been a member of the National Assembly for more than twenty years, has announced that he will leave the Conservative Party.

"A sense of loyalty toward those who I had closely worked during so many years, and some of the most prominent members who had served both in the parliament and in the government to defend and protect our nation, led me to join this political party and parliamentary group", Kurtukadze argued. "However, it has become obvious to me that the current leadership lacks the courage and the initiative, as well as a required clarity of ideas and innovation, to serve the nation in the current circumstances. It is time to open a new chapter to serve the nation with courage and competence".

"We have sadly witnessed a lack of ambition and coherence in those leading the parliamentary group", another two MPs declared in a joint written statement.

Kurtukadze, along the other five MPs, would have officially asked to join the Coalition of the True Right parliamentary group. None of the six stood in the recent legislative election.

The decision further weakens the Conservative Party parliamentary group which will be reduced to 112 of 599 seats.

Mktvartvelo: National government announces Social Housing Project

Irma Sabaladze, Minister of Housing and Social Policy, has announced a project of social housing that the national government aims to introduce in the coming weeks. The project aims to expand considerably the number of social housing apartments offered by the national government and local authorities.

Sabaladze explained that the her ministry is currently in negotiations with several real estate and banking companies to acquire a number of apartments and buildings. This would be funded with the coming national budget, she explained.  The "Phase One" (1E) of the project also include the construction of between 100,000 to 200,000 apartment units in main urban centers such as Ktsatskuri, Azavrelia, Khashumi, Martvilisi, Sachkhumi, Lagotsminda, where real estate and renting prices have considerably increased in the last decade.

"The aim of these units is to maximize space and minimize costs as much as possible", Salabadze explained. A province-based tender will be established for their construction. It is estimated that those apartments will have a size of around 55-60 m2, aimed to one or two tenants per apartment. The cost of those social rents will be variable depending the location, which a first proposed estimation of "40-50% of the median price of a m2 in the same metropolitan area", according to the minister.

Salabadze explained that the only starting requisite for these social housing rents will be have earnings below $50,000 (for a single-tenant apartment) and $90,000 (for a two-tenant apartment) per year. Once one person is granted to be "an official tenant", he or she would have the right to continue to be so even if his or her earnings increase way above such maximum earnings, Salabadze explained. "Our aim is to reduce the costs of living without penalizing social mobility, rather the contrary", the minister declared.

Salabadze declared that she is hopeful that the project will go beyond being a mere patch to the housing crisis but eventually become "a sizable reality of the housing market". The projects aims that the "Phase 2" (2E) and "Phase 3" (3E) of the project will further expand the number of social housing apartments, whose execution is planned in three and eight years, respectively.

Critics have argued about the increasing required costs of such projects, while having a negative impact on the economic sectors, for both real estate business and family home-owners. Salabadze, however, has insisted that the project aims to find a balance between "the right to free enterprise and the duty of authorities to improve the living conditions of the society".

Mktvartvelo: Ministry of Education to abolish tuition fees

Gulisa Paliashvili, Minister of Education, has announced the priority of her ministry to expanse the accessibility of tertiary and higher education for all citizens while improving the quality and standards of education at all levels.

Paliashvili, who was appointed minister five days ago, announced that the national government will stop to collect tuition fees at the tertiary level for citizens of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo after the 2681 course, that is, from early 2025.

She announced that the national government aims to pass a education reform for primary and secondary education, aimed to improve the organization and autonomy of schools. Paliashvili announced that the government aims to establish a strictly prohibition in the use of tuition fees and selective admission in those levels, including in private schools. Instead, schools would be forced to use objective standards, approved by the Directorate of National Education. Such prohibition would not be immediate, Paliashvili explained, but it would be imposed through several phases, to last between two to eight years.

The propose was met with criticism and rejection by several education organizations. A spokesperson from the Dabasamkhret Charity Fund has argued that the proposal would only push down the quality of some of the best schools in the country, without offering a real improvement to most students.

Minister Paliashvili declared that the national government would be willing to discuss the proposal with the parliamentary groups and the civil society, but it is committed to the need of deep and necessary changes in the education system.

Sports: FK Sandberg starts to dream

FK Sanberg consolidated at the top of the Juglander Elite league after defeating Nanko FC by 1-2.

The day before, EMAC Albrektberg had suffered a surprising 4-0 defeat against Nordansk FK, which were and remain as the bottom team in the league with only three wins in sixteen matches.

FK Sandberg leads the league with three points ahead EMAC Sandberg and seven points ahead the incumbent champions, FK Albrektberg. Martin Siimes obtained his first win as FK Albrektberg main coach after having lost 0-3 against EMAC Albrektberg a week ago.

"It is barely an anecdote right now, with still twelve matches to be played", declared Jarkko Kairamo, the FK Sandberg coach. "We should only be thinking in our next match against SK Midtenstadt".

However, with FK Albrektberg poor season, FK Sandberg fans seem to disagree, as they feel this could be their chance. While FK Sandberg won the Juglander Cup in 2022, the last time they won the league was in the 2013-2014 season, when they won their fifth league title.

Mktvartvelo: New regional media holding is established

Ormkhrivi Society, the owner of several local and regional newspapers including Abakha Dghes, in Abakha, and Bolo Saati, based in Khashumi, has reached an agreement with Generaluri Media (GM) to establish a new media holding, which has been registered as Mktvartveli Media Group (MMJ).

As a consequence, Mktvartveli Media Group will own 51% of the shares of Abakha Dghes and Bolo Saati in exchange of Ormkhrivi Society being granted 20% of the shares of Mktvartveli Media Group holding. Mktvartveli Media Group will also own a 10% of the shares in Eko, a daily newspaper from Azavrelia, and a 5% of the shares in Channel 9 (Channel 9 is already owned by Ormkhrivoba Ertianoba, a Mutual Insurance Company which is the majority shareholder of Ormkhrivi Society itself). Others investors include Datsva Investment, a defense sector company, which will own another 18% of the shares of Mktvartveli Media Group, and three large independent investors.

The move does not count exactly as a surprise, as both Bolo Saati and Abakha Dghes were reportedly facing important debts and increasing costs. It is unclear, however, how the move will affect the editorial policy of both newspapers, as one of the largest shareholders of Datsva Investment itself is Erovnuli Inprastrukturebi Company, which is owned by the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. A spokesperson of Datsva Investments, however, has assured that their company is a publicly traded company and independent, with the aim to maximize revenues for its shareholders.

It is expected that a representative from Mktvartvelian Media Group will meet with the leadership of both newspapers and their staff to inform them a bout immediate changes, if that was the case.

A representative from Ormkhrivoba Ertianoba has declared that they are "highly satisfied" with the agreement, as they had planned to distance themselves from written media management for some time, in order to focus in their investments in television and industrial sectors. Therefore, he denied any intention of Ormkhrivoba Ertianoba to sell their shares from Channel 9 in the current circumstances.

Sports: Natela Iludidze wins 2024 Meridiem Classic

Natela Iludidze, the 2023 Mktvartvelo women's National Road Race champion, won her first Mundus Cycling Cup, the prestigious Meridiem Classic, as she defeated favourites Katerina Shvets and Tsuneko Hijikata in the final metres. Juglander Ragna Knudsen finished 4th in a group of seven riders.

"It was a tough day, but as the kilometres passed, I felt somehow better and better", the young Mktvartvelian rider declared. "To be honest, I was not sure if I could be able to make it at the end, as Eter [Dzindzichasvili] and I found ourselves isolated in the last twenty kilometres or so", she continued. "I was not expecting when I follow their wheels that it was going to be the definitive group, to be honest, but I kept concentrated despite such strong and selected group".

"I couldn't believe it even as I crossed the line!", she continued. "I am so happy, it was already a honour to be here with my team. It was quite different than when the Tour of Khelvakheli, of course. Sometimes, expectations are too high but I am convinced that we will be able to repeat this success if we keep working as hard as these last weeks".

After becoming the first rider from Mktvartvelo to win one of the three iconic Ardian classics, she and her teammates will try to continue their luck in the Lacuna Classic.

Mktvartvelo to launch satellite

The Unitary State of Mktvartvelo is expected to launch a new satellite to space, Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia announced, after several reported postponements.

The satellite is expected to outlive the current SUS-SAT satellites. The last model, SUS-SAT-7, failed to reach the orbit seven years ago, as it was lost by falling into ocean due to malfunction 11 minutes and fifty-six seconds after lift-off.

The new satellite has been named as MKTsat will be operated by Mktvartveli Erovnuli Tanamgzavri for communications and security purposes.

Mktvartvelo: National Renovation rises in poll after legislative election

Momavali Inc., one of the most prominent polling companies in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, released the first poll after the 2024 legislative election.

According to the survey, if elections were held today, about 52% of voters declared they would vote for the pro-government National Renovation, a considerable increase considering the election was held about twenty days ago.

The Liberal Democratic Party would consolidate as the second most voted political party, although without any significant increase, with an estimation of 23-25% of the vote. Meanwhile, the right-wing Coalition of the True Right would receive 8-11% of the vote, while the Conservative Party is estimated to receive 7-9% of the vote.

Center-left Radical Democratic Party would received 4-5%, while the Moderate Alignment would receive to 3-4%, same estimation that the left-leaning nationalist Social National Party.

Inga Ushkaladze, the national government spokesperson, has declared that the government does not aim to govern with polls in mind but "rather serve the interests of the citizens". However, she indicated that it "could be a warning to that minority insisting that the National Assembly should block any government initiative in the name of the people".

Mktvartvelo: National Assembly passes tax reform

The National Assembly passed the Fair Taxation Act, proposed by the national government, by a 357-241 vote.

The legislation will reduce corporate taxation to a 20% from the current 29% while further establishing a progressive income taxation to up to a maximum rate of 51%. The reform also involves the replacement of the existing sale tax by a value added tax with a rate of 20% for most goods and services, with only a few exemptions.

Prime Minister Brdzeni Kvirkvelia described the legislation as "a fairer and simple taxation, aimed to improve economic growth and modernizing as well as strengthen the state".

Silamaze Arsenidze, Minister of the Treasury, is confident that the legislation will advance without opposition in the Council of State so it can immediately become law in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo. "We have aimed to advance a law which is both fairer and helps to increase economic growth for all sectors of the economy". Arsenidze declared that her ministry will be focused right now to advance a national budget in the coming weeks. "A balanced budget and a modern economy are required to advance in more social programs and improved services", she declared.
