The time is 7:00PM. Good evening, I'm Mikhail Ferris, and this is the National Nightly News, the daily breakdown of news from New Derusmia to the world. Tonight's top stories:

- Quintelia completes multiple CubeSat Near Earth Asteroid Scout spacecraft prototypes for the Unity Project.

- New Derusmian Tunnel Boring operations for the Southern Line reach the southern border.

- Bakunawa Multi-Role Fighter prototypes take flight for the first time in the SICR.

- The New Derusmian government approves the sale of 10 Lynx 2ST Main Battle Tanks to China.

- Ebston Feish, incumbent President and leader of the Democratic Socialist Party has fallen to 3rd place in the popularity polls.


The Quintelian Ministry of Science and Technology has announced that they have completed multiple working CubeSat prototypes that are scheduled to be launched later this year. Dubbed the Unity Project, the process of designing, launching, and managing the mission will bring together all the South Ardian New Electorate member nations, and was first proposed late last year. According to Quintelian Minister of Science and Technology in his Press Conference, "the new space mission will consist of a group of thirteen low-cost Cubesats that will examine asteroids and meteors that are within the orbit of Mundus and Luna. Each satellite ... would be equipped with cameras and sensors to analyze surface composition of bodies within the Mundus’ orbit."

Meanwhile in New Derusmia, we've been given word by the director of the New Derusmian Space Agency, Braith Lengman, that our own designs for CubeSat satellites are now nearing the prototype phase, and that all is going well.


Today, colossal tunnel boring machines reached the end of the Southern Line route that passes through New Derusmia, marking the end of the first phase of construction for the Southern Line. The process took an entire year, due to the mountainous terrain of the Southern Territories.

The next phase will begin this coming week, and will involve track laying and the fitting of lights inside the said tunnels. Meanwhile, at Metria Central Station, the specialized platforms to be used for Southern Line services have also been completed. The entire route will travel throughout all of South Ardia, with terminals in New Derusmia, the SICR, Quintelia, and Ui Cenneslaig, with plans to expand to the Allied States and Kodumaa. The line will feature both freight and high speed passenger services, and is planned to open late this year.


Also today, Aerospace Commandant Iyan Gerhart announced to New Derusmia via press conference that a Bakunawa Multirole Fighter prototype has completed its first test flight at an undisclosed airbase in the SICR. According to Gerhart, the flight was "all well, and the test was successful". He has also stated that more test flights will be following within the next few days. Development of the aircraft began in February of this year, and is currently being worked on by the member nations of SANE, namely New Derusmia, Quintelia, and the SICR. "The future of Multirole Aircraft is coming faster than you think. This is the first step to ensuring aerospace defense across South Ardia." He stated finally.


Speaking of the SICR, the New Derusmian government, has approved the sale of 10 Lynx 2 Main Battle Tanks of the ST variant to the Second Imperial Chinese Republic's army, the INA, for testing purposes. The Lynx 2ST MBT is a variation of the original Lynx 2 in use, but is engineered for colder climates, dense forestry, and steep terrain. This tank is currently in use in the Suden Territories. The SICR has purchased these tanks in order to modernize their tank fleet.

Ground Commandant Lukas Mauss told DWBS that "after a testing period, the Imperial Nationalist Army will decide whether to purchase more, or even gain the rights to manufacture new Lynx 2ST's in the SICR. We'll just have to wait and see."


And finally, in political news, the first national popularity poll of the 2020 Presidential campaign finished last night, and the results are surprising. Former favorite Ebston Feish has lost his rank of first place, compared to the last campaign polls 5 years ago, when the Democratic Socialists Party won by a landslide. According to the results from www.presidentialcampaignhub.gov.nd, Feish has landed in 3rd place in public approval rating, behind Sayid Famahad of the Liberal party, with only 32% of around 40 million who participated in the polls approve of Feish as the next New Derusmian President. According to popular opinion on the internet, this is because of the President's handling of the Clypseri Civil War, which ended with the withdrawal of 10 New Derusmian strategists from Clypseris, and left New Derusmia as an embarrassment on the world stage.

Expressing their anger with the incumbent President, Reddit user u/KarenDestroyer6900 posted the following on the r/ndpolitics Subreddit:

Our President is an absolute f*cking c*ckhead, and I'll give you the reasons why. His pathetic ass thought it would be a splendid idea to get itself right in the middle of a civil war, in a country we've almost never interacted with before, in a continent that we've never been to. Hasn't New Derusmia had enough f*cking civil wars? What makes it worse, is that Royal Clypseris, the people we were bloody fighting against, were supporters of our cause all this time? How could our 'President' not have known this? He's a dumbass, that's why. We need him out of office as soon as possible, before he leaves the nation in an absolute clusterf*ck.

Whether Ebston will regain the nation's trust by the national elections, taking place in December, remains a mystery.

As the helicopter made its final descent, Feish was nervous about the upcoming meeting. He didn't know much about this new Empress, and he most certainly didn't want to piss anyone off today. His prior decisions had certainly cause quite the predicament, especially during the recent Clypseri Conflict. He figured that during this meeting, he would stay mostly quiet and to only speak when asked to, so that he could let his more experienced colleagues take the wheel. He also figured that if this meeting went well, SANE could potentially gain a new ally.

After the helicopter finally landed, Ebston stepped out the onto Pyrettanian soil, hoping that this meeting would end the semi-cold war between the SANE nations and Rokkenjima.

I’m going to have to be taking a leave of absence up until around April because I’m busy with studies and can’t find time for RP. I’ll try continue the diplomatic RPs when I come back, and I’ll try be available on Discord.

As the plane came in for final approach, Feish took note of his surroundings. Kodumaa was a completely new place to him, and its culture and landscape varied from that of his own nation. There were barely any Derusmic nationals living in Kodumaa, however there were many tourists that visited to make up for it. One of the only things that were similar between Feish’s nation and  Kodumaa was the size of economy and population. Today’s meeting would be quite interesting, to say the least.

Upon landing, Ebston joined his Dragonaii counterpart and began waiting for their drunk friend, the Quintelian King to arrive.

Thank you very much, good friend, for sharing this information with me. It seems that your nation has become a victim of one of the Pharaoh’s frantic and pathetic attempts at gaining as much allies as possible.  I won’t bar you from going to the talks, for I am in no position to, and I know you well enough that I know you won’t betray us.

However, I must give you a word of advice: There’s a reason why our legislature voted 92 - 6 for supporting the Confederacy. Don’t believe everything the Pharoah says. She will blame everything bad that happens in Clypseris on the Confederacy, and this is far from true. In fact, it is the local crime gangs and militias who carry out these atrocities.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we will be arriving in Polua in 30 minutes.” the Captain announced as the Plymouth Air flight PA024 to Safraen began its descent. Onboard the plane was Klaus Hengyang, head strategist of the New Derusmian Unified Forces, under the alias of Simon Wenly. It was early evening, and outside the windows, the horizon was coloured in all warm shades of yellow, orange, and purple. Below, he could spot numerous villages and cities. It had been 12 hours since Klaus had been given the orders from the High Commandant of the military for him and 10 more of his men to travel to the East Safraen border from Rokkenjima under the guise of tourists, where they would sneak into Confederacy controlled Clypseris under the cover of the darkness of the midnight.

Suddenly, a breaking news report flashed onto the screen on the seats in front of them: “COMMON DEFENCE LEAGUE LIBERATES CONFEDERACY TERRITORIES”, much to the team’s horror.

“Schiße.” Crap. Klaus whispered under his breath.

“Sie brauchen wirklich unsere hilfe,” They really need our help. whispered another strategist. “Ich hoffe wir schaffen es pünktlich.” I hope we make it on time.

“Kann das flufzeug noch schneller fliegen?” Can this plane fly any faster? joked one of the others.

Eventually, the plane landed in Polua, where Klaus and his men passed swiftly through security and hired two basic cars that would take them to the Eastern Border. Klaus’ team of 5 boarded the first car, while another team of 5 boarded the second. The teams rode late into the night without a word and extremely tired. They travelled through the national highways and stranded country roads, when suddenly, Klaus switches off the headlights. The car behind did the same. They travelled in darkness for what seemed like an eternity until the cars suddenly stopped half a kilometre away from what appeared to be a high chain-link barb-wired fence. Silently, both teams left their cars on the side of the road and silently began walking through the humid air under the cover of tall grass and darkness. After walking for half an hour, the team came across a small gap in the fence completely unguarded. All stopped, and waited for their orders.

Klaus whispered to the others “Auf mein signal!” On my signal!

He quickly took note of the surroundings, and began counting down from 3.

“Drei...

zwei...

EINS!”

As speedily as possible, the 10 launched from their hiding places and began the sprint through the darkness and into Clypseris, none daring to look back. Suddenly, Klaus heard shouting from behind them, followed by gunfire.

Panicked, Klaus took cover behind more tall grass and rocks, and the rest of the team followed pursuit. Eventually the gunfire and shouting died out, and all that was left was silence.

“Geht es allen gut?” Is everyone ok? Klaus silently spoke.

All nodded in response.

“Sie werden mit unterstützung zurückkehren. Wir müssen umziehen.” They’ll return with back-up. We need to move.

It has been reported that the first flights out of New Derusmia ever since the recent Tytor terror attacks were confirmed to have been carrying over 600 aid workers that are being sent to the affected areas. These workers will be helping to rescue survivors, remove rubble, and help in the overcrowded hospitals.

Meanwhile, blood donations have surged recently, with clinics and hospitals all over the nation experiencing long lines and crowds waiting to donate their blood. The government is urging all healthy adults to go to their nearest healthcare center to donate blood.

The Department of Health has stated “A »100 sum will be given to donators as a sort of thanks for your efforts. Of course, you can choose before receiving the sum whether to keep it or give it away to the Tytorian aid effort.”

Many are also donating belongings such as non-perishable foods and clothes.

Normal programming will continue tomorrow.

Today, the New Derusmian embassy in Tsargrad, Tytor, released a statement on the number of Derusmian fatalities and injuries due to the recent terror attacks. The announcement was made earlier today on live television. A spokesperson for the embassy delivered the news:

“With a heavy heart, I announce that over 350 Derusmians have been reported as perished in the attacks, with a further 900 estimated to be injured, and 20 or so are in a critical condition. If you think anybody you know has been affected, call the number below."

The embassy also stated that Derusmians should start returning home as soon as possible once Tytorian airspace opens back up, however, those who need immediate treatment are advised to stay in Tytor for the time being.

In other news, New Derusmia’s airspace is now beginning to open up to allow New Derusmians and rerouted flights to return.

Following the recent attacks in Tytor and East Moreland’s announcement to lock down their national air space, New Derusmia has decided to follow pursuit, grounding all flights, and turning away incoming flights for the entire day. Places of national importance have also been placed under lockdown, such as Canton and Federal Government offices, legislatures, and buildings. Landmarks across the nation have been placed under lockdown, and military police has been deployed to city centres across the nation. All this happened, following the President’s order to raise the National Defence Condition to Unsicher, though there are plans to increase the the level to Condition Möglich, due to the severity of the attacks in Tytor.

Today[1] The Domestic General Assembly voted 92-6 to support the Clypseri Confederacy. This news comes following a recent outgoing message from the President of the Confederacy, President Nekhtou.

The resolution states that the New Derusmian Unified Military would be sending support, on the condition that the Confederacy returns all stolen artefacts, and ceases any activity in breach of the Uppsala Conventions.

President Feish has stated that a message has been sent back to the Confederacy’s leadership.
