The Queendom of Lodja is excited to be able to welcome the Princess and her young friend, especially as we enter the Summer Ball season.

The Queendom's armed forces have over the last few years undergone a large scale retraining and reassessment programme and we believe that these joint exercises could be an excellent way of seeing how up to the mark we are.

Best Wishes

Queen Natalya.

The scurge of the Soviets in Chistopol were a catalyst for the creation of this Treaty. With that in mind and in a show of solidarity with our friends from Chistopol the Theocracy of Kaitaine adds our signature to this Treaty.

Best Regards

LODJA SIGN HISTORIC CRIMES TREATY

It was confirmed today that Queen Natalya had ordered Princess Anfisa to journey to Northfort to sign the Historic Crimes Treaty on behalf of the Queendom. The Treaty aims to provide a mechanism for those accused of what could be described as crimes against humanity to be brought to justice despite the crimes having taken place long in the past. The Treaty was authored primarily by King David of East Moreland and King Piripi of the Unified Iwi and scrutinised and amended by representatives from Chistopol, Nya Aland and Cassiopeia before being distributed for the rest of the world to sign up to. It is understood Princess Anfisa was furnished with a letter from Queen Natalya giving her authorisation to sign it on behalf of the Queendom. The Princess is both an envoy to the CNN and Council of Albion and often undertakes a role as a Royal Envoy. The Princess is the great-grandaughter of Queen Sonya and so permitted to use the royal title and has dedicated much of her time to supporting the work of Queen Sonya's successors, Queen Viktoriya and Queen Klara. This though is the first international treaty that she has signed.

The Princess spent time at Northfort Palace in private with her close friend Queen Stasya and saw Prince Llewellyn. Following the meeting the Princess said, "It was nice to see the little Prince who is doing great. Queen Stasya was someone who while a Lady in Waiting I became friends with and I have missed seeing now for a long time." It is understood that Princess Anfisa is due to travel to Eskdale soon to begin diplomatic talks with the Illumic nation.

Princess Anfisa was not a stranger to East Moreland and having shown her credentials at the Palace and armed with a letter from her new Queen she made her way to sign the document on behalf of Lodja and enjoy a spot of tea with her friend Queen Stasya.

Quote from: Letter from Queen Natalya

As a member of the C.N.N we are only too aware of the acts of inhumanity done to our Maori friends and to those who belong to East Moreland beloved Cult of Helus. While many such examples of inhumanity exist in addition to this it is important that all nations of Mundus send, in the clearest way possible, that they will not and can not standby and allow those who commit these crimes to get away with it.

We therefore are proud to add our nations name to this Treaty and pray that the rest of Mundus will see fit to support the quest for justice.

Signed

Queen Natalya
Guardian of Sessifet.

Having handed over the letter to King David the Princess signed the document

126
Natalya understood that reciprocation was going to be a key to any kind of trade deal. "I can confirm that if a business comes here and pays taxes on what it earns here then it wouldn't face any barriers to transfering funds back home. As for tariffs then we'd be open to examining a gradual reduction for goods imported into Lodja from your nation. This would ultimately aim at reducing to zero." The Queen was pleased with how things had been going, "Now obviously you know we are members of the CNN and we could potentially see you gain access to an even wider market through an arrangement there."

127
Natalya was hoping that this would be the tip of the iceberg for the relationship of Lodja and Zamenhuf. She suspected that such tours could happen very very easily and didn't really need the input of the monarchs to achieve it. Natalya did agree though that it was a great place to begin as it was an easy win. "I'd be delighted to have that happen, if you permit I'd like to promote it as the first of what I hope will become an annual tour that we can grow and grow, we'd like to name it the Queen Klara Showcase." There had been various talks of how to memorialise the deceased Queen and this could be a nice way of not just keeping her name alive in Lodja but keeping the name alive globally.

"I hope though that we can go beyond the arts, I would like to help our nation breakdown some of the barriers that we've had to foreign investment. Klara tried to do this by establishing the Queen's Licencing Ltd. You see the problem was in Lodja you had to have permission from a noble to own a business and as such that allowed nobles to become rich by essentially extorting entrepreneurs. QLL allowed businesses to obtain the Queen's permission for next to nothing, 1% of their shares. What I would like to do is use Zamenhuf as a kind of guinea pig. What I am proposing is that any Zamenhuf business that has existed for five years in your homeland is exempt from the need to have noble permission to invest in Lodja. All we would require is that they comply with local employment laws and taxation on profits made here. In return we'd like to discuss some kind of reduction or removal of tarrifs on sales between us."

128
The new Queen was a little nervous. With the CNN monarchs it was different as she was facing a group that she knew were already friends with the Lodjains and had a track record of co-operation with the Queendom. Here though with Zamenhuf there was a nation that they knew very little about and their Queen. Natalya was unsure how best to approach this situation and had insisted on wearing a formal outfit as would be expected of the Queen, the pale blue dress with gold stitching. The Queen had selected a room that overlooked the bay towards Gaia and had asked the new Lord of the Conclave, Lubos Kubik, to join them. He was much more experienced than her in terms of politics but just like Natalya this was his first taste of international diplomacy.

"Good morning Queen Anne-Marie" Natalya greeted her as she was shown into the room alongside her advisers. Natalya waited for them to be introduced before taking a seat of a large sofa with a view out the window. She had sat next to Anne-Marie and turned to face her. "I'm thankful that you came our nation has been through a harsh year or so and to trust us to be safe enough for you to visit in such an exposed event means a great deal to me and the government of Lodja. I think I see some similarities between us, you're a nation that has placed a great focus on arts and cultural capital during your history meanwhile this Palace until very recently was often the home of poets, artists and important scholars. Sadly the recent turmoil has changed that for now but I am determined that the Palace will regain its position as a great hub for creativity, culture and art.  Perhaps that can be a start point for our discussions."

ACHILLES FREMEN DENOUNCES BENE GESSERIT FAITH

26 year old Achilles Fremen, son of Simon Fremen the heir to the Fremen Holy House, has today announced that he is denouncing the Bene Gesserit faith. The news came just days after Achilles Fremen qualified as a doctor following lengthy studies in Aosta. During his time there he had been criticised by Bene Gesserit hard liners for his lack of engagement in the faiths fortunes and that despite for eight years having been granted an Honored Matres to further the bloodline towards the Kwizach Hadrach he had not produced a child. This matter caused so much disenchantment for his Honored Matres, Heidi Lehmann, that she returned to the Theoracy when it was liberated. Despite attempts by his family and even the Reverened Mother to reconcile the young man with the faith it appears that things have been unsuccessful.

Speaking today from Horodets in Zaporozh, a place he called his new home, Achilles spoke about the decision. "Like many of the people born into the Bene Gesserit faith we are pawns in a game played by an elite that utilises a mythical evil to keep us as servants. This was not a life I selected to be bred like cattle and have my life laid out before me. I was sent to a land I had no heritage of except my ancestors ran away and hid there. I originate from Kaitaine in terms of my blood but it is a land I have walked in only a handful of times. I am not a citizen of the Theocracy and despite my love for Aosta I am not bound to be loyal to it. I am a person with an ability to establish my own future and I have determined that it will be without the Bene Gesserit faith. I have embraced the love of Jesus Christ and with a Rus and Celt ancestory I wish to investigate that. With the Celts largely turning their back on Christianity my investigation shall therefore begin in a land that's impressed me with its faith and its close family ties, something I hope I can rebuild with my own kin. I will be establishing myself as a general practice Doctor in the city of Horodets until I can find a hospital that will accept me and I look forward to making a difference to the health of people."

The Fremen family have refused to speak on the matter beyond Achilles father, Simon Fremen, saying, "The family love Achilles and will always have a place for him wherever we make our home." The Ducal line of succession meant it was likely that one day Achilles would be the head of the Fremen Holy House however beyond Simon Fremen's generation there is no other direct male heir to the bloodline, something the Reverned Mother is likely to be greatly concerned about.  The news of Achilles rejection of the faith therefore is likely to cause some intercession between the Sisterhood and the Fremen family.

Vignettes / Lodjain Coronation 2022
« on: May 08, 2022, 09:56:38 PM »
OOC - A joint Nottingham post

The buzz of excitement around Gaia was huge. This was a once in a lifetime event, normally people would have said that about the coronation of young monarch anyway but in the last few years Lodja's crown seemed to carry a curse and for most Lodjains this would be the third coronation they would have witnessed but for each of them it would be the first time they actually could have seen it with their own eyes. The central square of Gaia had a huge statue to the Goddess of Sessifet hoisted high on a pedestal but today around the bottom a stage had been constructed and it was here that the coronation would take place, not in some cave under the Isle of the Goddess. The three large buildings that hosted the civil service and other organs of government flanked three sides of the square while the forth was left open with a large sloping park now filling up with a huge number of people. In anticipation of this large video screens had been erected and speakers attached to lamp-posts. The prospect of driving a car along the streets was impossible and only the road that lead to the Isle of the Goddess was devoid of crowds as members of the Police and military kept it open. Out of the eyes of the general public marksman lined to top of the government buildings and covert members mingled with the crowds.

Over on the island itself the new High Priestess, Maria Shvets, was putting the finishing touches to her preparations. She would today potentially be starting new traditions and what she wrote could last thousands of years. It was a pressure she was only too aware of and butterflies were doing barrel rolls in her stomach. Next door the future Queen was equally nervous. Unconstrained by tradition she had opted for a change from the blue dress with gold embroidery and instead had the colours reversed. The dress hugged her figure but was designed to float onto the floor in such a way that if the Queen took small enough steps it could give the impression she was gliding. Two of the Ladies in Waiting attended on her while the third was busily arranging some flowers that the Queen would carry. There was a knock on the door as Jasmina left her flower duty to answer. "I beg your pardon Miss." A tall Maori man dressed in olive green dress uniform, a cap tucked under his arm and a small box in his right hand. "My name is Lieutenant Hahona   Mere I was wondering if I could speak with Her Majesty."

Jasmina was about to turn this junior officer away as they were busy but Natalya had heard the voice. "Come in Hona" she yelled and removed herself from the attentions of the other two Ladies in Waiting in order to give the Maori officer a hug. The much taller Hahona leaned forward and the two pressed noses against each other. He was the heir to the Chiefdom of the Ngāti Paoa which had adopted the Kozel family several years ago. The two had become good friends and as soon as Natalya had been announced as Queen their militia had been part of her security contingent. The Queen stepped out of the hug and looked him up and down. "You look great" she'd never seen him in his uniform before and it did make him look rather handsome.

"It should be me saying that to you.....Your Majesty" It would take some getting used to having to address her formally. "You look beautiful. I'm sure you're Queendom will be very proud of their new Queen." He understood the vanity of the Lodjains and although he hoped Natalya wasn't going to be like them he wasn't saying it as a form of flattery. "It would mean a lot to our Iwi if you allowed us to be the first to present you with a gift." He handed over the box and flipped the lid open. It was a turtle shell bracelet with a solid silver clasp. The turtle was the Iwi's emblem and the silver clasp bore the date.

"Of course" Natalya took the gift and held it up to Hahona to make a show of inspecting it, a tradition among the Maori. She slipped it on and closed the clasp, "What do you think?" she asked her Ladies in Waiting who smiled approvingly. "I love it, please thank the Iwi" she added. Hahona held the box expecting her to take it off and replace it in the box. "Oh, I'm not taking it off." Natalya instructed him, "I was hoping to somehow show my connection to the people of the Commonwealth but wasn't sure how. You've saved my bacon so to speak." she kissed him on the cheek. "I'm sorry but I need to finish getting ready." She went back to the mirror and Hahona bid her goodbye as he headed out to find the rest of his Regiment down at the foot of the Isle where they would be part of the ceremony. By the time he got down there four columns of soldiers were putting the finishing touches to themselves. The Maori twelve were keen to hear of the Queen, each of them were members of the Royal Forest Scouts but also members of the Ngāti Paoa. Next to them was the green and red kilted members of the Cenneg based Highland Fusiliers each man carrying a ceremonial claymore that were recieving appreciative glances from the Royal Marines from East Moreland. A contingent of Lodjian Air Men completed what would be the escort for the Queen who was now making her way down the road from the Palace. Groups of staff from the Palace lined the road as the Queen's car passed. Once at the bottom of the hill the Queen was helped from the car by Lord Besarian Ivanov who escorted her to where a large open top boat was waiting. Carefully it was loaded, the Lodjains and Morelander escort in the front, the Queen, her Ladies and High Priestess in the centre while the Cenneg and Maori brought up the rear. Shvets had considered having rowers take them the kilometer or so across the bay to Gaia itself but instead had found a boat with a small engine that soon had them at the other side.

On the other side of the bay the King's of the CNN nations waited, no doubt the three of them Piripi, Finley and David had been chatting about the up coming rugby world cup before they were told the Queen was arriving meanwhile the Queens were probably complaining about the rugby. In a large square the escorts formed up, two nations in front and two behind. This was to be a symbol of the Queens closest friends being supportive of her coronation, something that would in the eyes of many Lodjains be important. The Queen came over and greeted each of the monarchs, David and Finley with friendly kisses on the cheek and Piripi with the touching of foreheads. She had a horse carriage for each of them which followed her own as they made their short journey from the quayside to the square where the ceremony would take place. The crowd was now huge. A lottery had taken place to give members of the public entrance into the square itself, something that had annoyed the nobility who had expected to be front and centre. On the stage several Priestesses stood all dressed in black. A large throne had been placed in the centre and a small table held a crown and several other objects. As the convoy reached the square the crowd began applauding. The CNN monarchs were given front row seats of course while their military contingent formed a circle around the stage.

Maria Shvets took centre stage now, her long red robe marking her as a person of significance today she gave a quick cough to clear her throat and check the microphone attached to her dress was working and then began. "We gather here today in a manner unusual for our nation. Today marks the beginning of a new era in Lodjain history and therefore it is perhaps fitting our coronation is done in such a way as we have never seen before. I would call on each of us to take a moment of silence to remember Queen Klara before we begin." The square fell silent and heads looked skywards as people offered prayers to Sessifet. After a suitable time Shvets began again. " The Goddess Sessifet sacrificed her physical form, the perfection of beauty, in order to save mankind. As an act of love and devotion to the supreme Goddess the young maiden Mariam offered her own body as a replacement willing to have her soul leave to allow the Goddess to remain. The Goddess though would not see such a beautiful soul lost and so the pair shared the physical vessel and Mariam ruled as Queen with the Goddess guiding her every step. From that day forward as one vessel completes it service a new is found. A vessel of great beauty, spirituality, intelligence and youth is required and so the Priesthood is tasked with such an endeavour. Today we name that person as Natalya Kozel." a ripple of applause went through the crowd. "Usually part of Sessifet's soul is trapped within the vessel and released with fire to be consumed by the new Queen. In this case the soul of Sessifet has already been released and so will have taken to nature in order to preserve her soul. We now welcome her back to our world." Shvets motioned for Natalya to come onto the stage and took from her the flowers she had been carrying. "The white rose has always been the flower of the Goddess." The High Priestess plucked the petals from the flower one by one while praying and placed it in a small container of boiling water. "Through flame and water we release the Goddesses spirit. We ask that she return to us and accept the physical vessel that we have provided for her. We ask that the two of them become one and guide our lands on the path that Sessifet has set before us." A large silver ladal appeared and Shvets scooped some of the rose petal infused water into a golden goblet. She then carefully picked up the container and poured it onto the ground. "Natalya Kozel. The Priesthood have consulted the scriptures, we have looked for omens, we have considered your heritage and your beauty. We believe Sessifet will be happy to accept you as her vessel. To serve her as Queen and act as a conduit between the Goddess and her children. You would be the mother of us all. Do you allow Sessifet to share you physical form for the rest of your worldly life?"

Natalya paused for a second, "I gladly share myself with Sessifet for as long as the Goddess needs me." Shvets handed her the golden cup and unable to help herself Natalya found herself blowing on the liquid incase it was hot. It was a little as she sipped and already she could feel the roof of her mouth forming a slight blister. She did her best not to react after all the Goddess was now joining with her. She wondered how long that process would take as she took further sips until the strangely sweet liquid had gone. As Shvets had instructed she held the cup upside down showing the crowd that she had drained it.

"We recognise you now as Queen Natalya, Guardian of Sessifet. Please take your throne." Natalya did as instructed and Shvets moved in front of her. A teenage girl with blonde hair in a white dress walked onto the stage. "The Patricians of Lodja present you with this crown." Shevts handed it the girl, the daughter of a randomly selected noble. The girl nervously guided it towards Natalya's head, "May it act as a symbol of your status as Queen." The girl completed her task of placing the crown, bowed and then stood to one side. A second girl of a similar age came on, she too was wearing a white dress and had fiery red hair. "The Plebleians of Lodja present you with this staff." A long golden appearing spear shaft with a four pronged top was handed over. "May it act as a symbol of your duty to protect the people."  Natalya held it upright as Lord Lubos Kubik approached. "On behalf of your people the Lord of the Conclave will take an oath of loyalty to you."

Kubik was a giant compared to Shvets and the High Priestess suspected that he could probably have done this without even needing the microphone. "I swear to the Goddess that I will serve the vessel appointed as Queen of Lodja as a humble servant. I am hers to command and shall to the best of my abilities serve her to achieve the will of the Goddess. My Queen Natalya-Sessifet have a long and joyful reign." He knelt and only now seemed a similar size to Natalya, she offered her hand and he kissed it before standing behind the throne.

Shvets pronounced her the new Queen and invited her to address the crowd. Natalya handed her new regalia to the Ladies in Waiting and then stood to face the people on the sweeping hillside. "We have been fortunate to have been part of the lives of three incredible people over the last ten years. First we were with Queen Sonya, a lady who gave nearly 90 years of dedicated service to our people. A woman who even now has family trying to serve us. Then we were Queen Viktoriya, a woman driven to help author some of the key documents of our time. Finally we were Queen Klara, a young lady driven to change Lodja but denied the time. Klara was our hope for a Lodja that made up for time. While Sonya was loving, kind and devoted she was nervous of change. Klara was not. She was intent on making Lodja a land of beauty, not just physically but morally. We shall continue her work. We shall complete her work. Each of you will be required to be open to change, to support it and embrace it. We have strong friends with us to help us on our path. King David of East Moreland has been a steadfast supporter of our nation and just as he has guided us in the past we hope we can still count on his friendship and patience as we walk our road. King Finley of Ui Cenneslaig has supported our efforts to make the Alucard a better place and between the two of us I....we are...committed to making the Alucard the safesty and most harmonious ocean in the world. Now to our beloved Maori brothers and sister. For five years you permitted us to reside within your borders, you helped us learn, helped us become the vessel that was selected to host Sessifet. We can not thank you enough and we say to you "Ka mau tonu tetahi wahi o toku ngakau ki aua whenua." Now though our work must begin to make us a nation that was worthy of the sacrifice of Miriam. That work begins tomorrow for tonight we celebrate. Thank you for your love." The crowd cheered and the Queen descended the steps. She presented each of the CNN monarchs wives with a white rose and each of the men with a smaller version of the goblet she had used. There was a pause before she spoke, as though she was thinking of how to word things. "I hope you will all join me for a private drink later tonight. There is much I'd like to speak to you all about. First though we need to get back to the Isle." The Queen mounted her carriage and was taking a roundabout route back to the Isle whereas the monarchs and various other guests were taken via a direct route, this time in cars.

The Isle was now in full party mode, and the Lodjains knew those matters better than most on Mundus. This time the tide had gone out and they could all drive across the causeway and up to the Palace itself. The quiant little inn at the bottom of the hill was already filling up with those staff not needed for the event and their family. At the top of the road stewards of the royal household had drinks waiting and the ball room of the Palace was hung with Gold and Blue drapes as a band began to play classical style music. Around the Palace various other small halls featured other musical artists and there was no shortage of booze flowing. The Queen arrived around 90 minutes after everyone else and now devoid of her crown she entered. "Honoured Guests" the Palace Chamberlain interupted the music. "Please be upstanding for Her Majesty Queen Natalya." the room parted as the Queen entered and for the first time today she felt a little self conscience. She scanned the room unsure how to proceed, if she favoured one guest over another than she would perhaps knock someones nose out of joint but then she spotted the towering Maori soldiers and among them Hahona, she made her way over.

"Hona they're going to expect me to dance and if I pick the wrong Lodjain its a mess so your it." She grabbed his arm and he followed, there were a few puzzled looks around the room as several well connected Lodjains questioned who the officer was. As the Queen nodded for the music to begin she motioned to the other CNN monarchs to join her. Queen Stasya didn't need to be asked twice, being back home she'd seen many admiring glances and she was enjoying the attention. She dragged David onto the dance floor and placed her hands around his neck after positioning his hands on her hips. Finley dressed in his kilt didn't need asking twice, he would have preffered something a bit more rowdy but after slipping the band a few whiskey's he'd hope that would come later. Queen Riona smiled as her husband tossed the tiny dagger from his sock to his brother Lennox before grabbing her to begin dancing. Piripi though was no dancer, he was perhaps the least elegant looking man here and refusing to take off his giant feather cloak made dancing difficult. Queen Maata was teasing him that at least one Maori could dance as she watched Hona and Natalya lead the dancing. The party would continue until around 6am the next morning although with business to get down to the next day the Queen headed out at about 2am after a brief nightcap with the other monarchs.

Piripi felt as though he should begin the toasts when alone, he felt Natalya in some ways was one of his people, she'd embraced Maori culture and he counted her father as a friend. "Natalya as you know we think the world of you back in the Commonwealth. As of late we've been pretty bad CNN friends with everyone, that will change and you will be the conduit. I am glad to be back among friends." He raised his glass.

David had a package under his seat and after he'd enjoyed a quick sip of the Cenneg whiskey Finley had brought David presented a book from under the fabric. "Its become somewhat of a tradition that when I attend a coronation I bring a gift of a book. The knowledge of books is something that helps guide us all. This one though is a little different." He handed over a book that was a little thinner than perhaps Natalya had expected it was made of leather but still had a lingering smell of newness about it. "Inside are all the communications between the monarchs of East Moreland and Lodja. You'll notice there are many pages left that I hope we will fill and that the book need never get passed on for a very long time." He drained his glass, "Now if Finley will top this up we'll hear what he has to say."

The Morelander and Cenneg King had gone through a great deal of the bottle and as he handed David the bottle Finley stood unlike the others. "I'm not a man for pretty words." David and Piripi laughed, "But us Cenneg like a toast, or six, so Natalya" Finley closed his eyes as he tried to ensure he got the words right. "May good luck be with you wherever you go, and your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow. May your days be many and your troubles be few, May all the God's.." He paused for a moment, "May all the Gods, Helus, Sessifets, Rangi and Papa's blessings descend upon you, May peace be within you, May your heart be strong, May you find what you're seeking wherever you roam and not matter how far and whatever the miles let your feet always find your way home." He opened his eyes satisfied that he had got things right. "Long live the Queen."

"Long live the Queen" the other two added. The three Kings looked at each other and remembered the good times they'd shared, usually over a rugby game, now though there was a new member to their inner circle and only time would tell if she would be a good fit.

OOC- Assume that you were invited if you want. If anyone would like to take the opportunity that the tradition is the Queen meets petitioners the next afternoon and foreign guests get first go then feel free to.

Simon Fremen had to admit he hadn't spent that much time in the Theocracy since its foundation. He'd been busy still with his legal business in Aosta and while his parents had relocated he was yet to follow. Financially it made more sense to stick with Aosta for the time being. "Well Queen Aoife as of yet I've only paid flying visits to the Theocracy, time with family, try and find some place of my own for when I finally relocate. Things there are going well. A few small towns forming here and there around the edge of the desert but Sietch is becoming a little overcrowded now. I wouldn't be surprised if in the coming weeks something is being done to try and limit the influx of people. But things are going well. They've boosted the mineral extraction industry, glass manufacture. We're also considering an establishment of hydrogen production using the Kværner process. We've potential for huge solar farms and using the process we could become a major producer of hydrogen. Either that or selling the excess electricity to Chistopol." It was at present a pipe dream of the Theocracy to have some major industry to bolster their economy. "Although our stamps and coins have become somewhat of a collectors item." As MacCallion arrived and introduced himself Simon was forced to explain their prescence across the opposite side of Mundus. "I suppose deep down the early Bene Gesserit were just adventurers seeking to find some answers for themselves about the Universe. Something about Kaitaine I guess called out to them and now we end up with ourselves sandwiched between the Rus." He turned back to conversation with Aoife, "So is this just a social gathering or does Your Majesty have a purpose to this."

CORONATION TO TAKE PLACE IN GAIA SQUARE

Today the new High Priestess Maria Shvets has confirmed that the coronation of Queen Natalya will take place on Sunday 8th May at 1pm. Unlike all previous coronations it will not take place in the Temple of the Goddess on the Isle off the coast of Gaia but instead in the heart of the city. The High Priestess has said, "The coronation is happening in unique circumstances as much of the traditions involved in a normal coronation can not take place. We, by that I mean myself and a team of other respected Priestesses including Arina Maksimov, have studied various sources and sacred texts and believe we can undertake a coronation that will be just as acceptable to both the new Queen and the Goddess." The exact details of the ceremony are being kept under wraps but Shvets did confirm that the King and Queen of East Moreland, the King of the Unified Iwi and Ui Cenneslaig would be in attendance.

The Queen's new Envoy, Lord Besarian Ivanov, also spoke to the media saying, "Her Majesty is determined that many things will change in the coming months. It will therefore be fitting that her reign will start with something that is a change from normal. Queen Natalya was keen that the people of Gaia could be as much part of the ceremony as possible and the fact they will be able to attend the event in some form. We're excited that the event will now take place after so many hurdles have been overcome."

HUGE MILITARY SHAKE UP PLANNED

The new Lord of the Conclave, Duke Lubos Kubik, has today confirmed that there shall be a major shake up of the military heirachy. Currently all officers must come from the Patrician class and usually any Patrician joining the military recieves a commission. The new system will see all members of the Armed Forces undertake a basic 8 week "Soldiering Assessment Course" This will teach basic skills of map reading, first aid, marksmanship and various other basic military subjects. In addition all new airmen, soldiers or sailors will be expected to undertake exams after eight weeks in a range of subjects such as military doctrine, regulations and technical subjects. Those achieving the highest scores on each intake will then enter the Officer Training College for their particular branch of service, regardless of which social class they belong to. To make this possible any Plebleain who graduates from their Officer Training College will on their passing out parade receive not just their commission as an officer in the armd forces but also their acknowledgement as a Patrician for themselves and their descendants. Duke Lubos explained, "The move will ensure that we have people in charge based on the best avaliable talent and not just on social class. Our armed forces have been on a route towards becoming a proper meritocracy for a while and this will push it that final little step."

The move has been welcomed by some Social Mobility campaigners who have said, "The military was a long route for families to become Patricians, this provides a short cut that we hope many will access. There will still be much to do as many Patricians attend private schools with military traditions so will have a head start on this new course but in time I see more and more Plebs accessing Officer training. It will take several years for this to become even but it is a good start."

The new course will be designed by the East Moreland Armed Forces who have been supportive of the Lodjain military reogranising over the last few years. It will follow closely the East Moreland national services induction programme and is likely to begin with the September intake of military recruits. Duke Lubos has also stated that he intends to work with the Queen to find ways to make it easier for Plebs already serving in the armed forces as NCO's to access Officer Training and transfer onto a commission.

QUEEN REPLACES HIGH PRIESTESS FOLLOWING FAST TRACK COURT DATE

Queen Natalya has today taken steps to replace Alla Kohut as the High Priestess. The move comes after Alla Kohut has been accused of putting obsticles in the way of Queen Natalya appointing members to the Conclave. Kohut has over the last few days attempted to state that Queen Natalya has yet to be officially coronated and therefore can't make any formal decisions. The Queen challenged this on two fronts and even went so far as asking for the highest court in the land to make a determination. Queen Natalya argued that having been declared Queen by both the Conclave and Alla Kohut it ensured that she had been proclaimed as the guardian of Sessifet's spirit and was therefore capable of taking the role on. Despite religious arguements by Kohut the Queen was supported by the prominent Priestess Maria Shvets who argued that while normally a coronation happens within 48 hours of the death of the old Queen that was not necessary. Shvets argued, "Sessifet is the supreme being who controls everything in the Universe. There are many occasions of her in holy scripture entering the body and possessing various people without the need to be consumed via ash. It would therefore be safe to assume that should the Goddess wish to have a new guardian, something Kohut has confirmed, then Sessifet could if she wished automatically appear within them and join souls." The Queen's legal team that produced evidence that Queen Klara had infact declared herself to be High Priestess as well as Queen therefore meaning that while Kohut was left as the highest status surviving Priestess the moment she, the Conclave and the rest of the Priesthood announced Natalya as Queen she also inherited the title High Priestess. Following the appereance in court Queen Natalya addressed the assembled media to say.

"I believe that there now needs to be a return to the formal seperation between the High Priestess and the Queen. As Queen I am viewed as the Guardian of Sessifet and therefore Sessifet lives within me. The High Priestess is responsible for ensuring those of our faith worship correctly and that rituals in praise of Sessifet are conducted. I don't need to be in a position where I have to ensure I am worshipped. So as such Maria Shvets will become High Priestess with immediate effect and as her first duty I am asking her to organise a coronation in keeping, as far as possible with the traditions that have gone before."

The date of the coronation is not yet known or the exact nature of it determined. One decision by the Queen though has been made and that in the coming days representatives from East Moreland will meet with her to discuss the rebuilding of the embassy in Gaia that was destroyed during the recent unrest. Currently the East Moreland embassy is operating out the Ui Cenneslaig one. The Queen is also expected to visit the site where an estimated 25 Morelanders were killed along with a similar number of Lodjains.

SURPISE APPOINTMENT AS FOREIGN MINISTER

Tamila Andreev today makes history as both the first Plebleian to hold a Ministerial title and as the first woman to be named as Foreign Minister. The announcement makes her the 2nd appointment to the Conclave since Queen Natalya came to the throne and begins to fulfil the promise to make it easier for Plebs to experience social mobility. The 60 year old has served as a member of the civil service for the past 35 years and was part of the CNN office for Lodja for the past two years. She entered the civil service having served two years in the military so as to potentially put her family on course to becoming Patricians and then attended University in Gaia to study Rus Linguistics, a course which saw her spend a year studying in Samantra. Queen Natalya introduced her new appointment while addressing the National Association of Patrician Students, a meeting which she has said she hopes to see it merge with the National Association of Pleblian Students before the end of the year. The Queen said, "In Tamila we have a woman who has already given nearly four decades of her life to serving the nation and most of them dealing with our relationship with other lands. She is like me, part educated overseas, and as such has insights that most Lodjians lack. The is someone that while perhaps not currently having a huge reputation in other nations is a part of the quiet backbone that has made Lodja the nation we are today. She is also part of the future of Lodja where the divisions of old become less significant."

The new Minister thanked the Queen for her words saying, "We have a brilliant group of civil servants in this nation quietly working at embassies and missions across the globe to serve our interests. I consider this appointment a victory for their work. I will naturally now be looking at appointing juniors and presenting the Queen with suggestions for embassy teams across Mundus. It is my hope that we can begin strengthening relations with our current friends while building new ones."

Some however have been critical of the appointment with the Duke of Zergeu saying "The Goddess Sessifet gave us a natural order to the world. It is clear we are moving away from this, our Queen does not yet even carry the soul of the Goddess within herself and is making changes to our land that will bring an end to the society the Goddess wants. We should wait until the coronation has taken place before we allow her to make any decisions."

PLAN TO "REHABILITATE" DISLOYAL SOLDIERS

An estimated 2,000 soldiers, 1,200 sailors and 300 airmen fought for Leopold Hamsik during the recent conflict. The vast majority of these are now in custody with around 1/4 dead and the question is beginning to be asked what should happen to those currently in various military bases around the Queendom. There have been calls from many that those who fought against Queen Klara should be put on trial for treason and spend long sentences in high security prisons, some are even calling for the death penalty to be returned into use. While the current Queen's stance on execution has yet to be confirmed she did spend several years in the Iwi which is renowned for using it against those guilty of crimes against humanity during the Seleucid occupation. There is also the added complication that some of those in custody are likely to be involved with the destruction of the East Moreland embassy and it is highly likely their extradition on terrorist charges could be requested and the Morelanders are known to push for the death penalty in these matters.

Lady Anna Utkin thinks though there must be a rehabilitation programme. Lady Anna is a former member of the Conclave who was born a Pleb but became a Patrician by marriage has worked for better Patrician/Pleb relations for several years. She says, "The problem we have is that while there are some rebels in custody there will be many more frightened to come forward. The way forward would be for us to consider why these people did what they did. Some will have done it out of fear that if they didn't support the Patrician their family is connected to they'd lose everything. Others will have done it because Leopold Hamsik was connected to their families business. We should give each person a chance to explain their actions. Those who acted out of a perception of neccessity need to be given a chance of redemption and rehabilitation. Those who acted because of other nefarious reason must be punished." Lady Anna has suggested that the process could see exile for a set time used as some form of punishment or that some deal could be struck with other nations to give people a fresh chance to reform their life.

This is a debate that will likely continue for many months but for now thousands of prisoners are being detained in makeshift prison camps on the playing fields of military bases.

KUBIK NAMED NEW LORD OF THE CONCLAVE

Former military officer Lord Lubos Kubik has today been named as the new Lord of the Conclave. The position is the seen as the 2nd most important in the nation after the Queen and has for close to the last decade been filled by Besarian Ivanov. The announcement marks the first appointment by the new Queen to the Conclave following her being proclaimed as Queen. Lord Kubik served under Queen Viktoria and Queen Klara as Minister of Defence before being replaced following a data breach within the military which cast doubts upon his ability to do the job correctly in the midst of the various scandals of military corruption. However Queen Natalya has since downplayed such concerns today as she visited a hospital where injured serviceman are being treated. "It is clear following investigations that Lubos was a stalwart supporter of the rightful Queens of Lodja. He is a man that has always acted in the highest ideals of service to his nation having served a long career in the military, reaching the rank of General and then as Minister of Defence. He is a man that has no need to prove his loyalty and I am confident that he will be a man that will continue to serve both the people and myself well."

Lord Besarian Ivanov however will not be totally leaving royal service as later he was named as the Queens Envoy. This is a position that has not existed before in the nation and has been described as "carrying the weight of the Queen's voice at times when she is unable to do so herself. The Envoy will allow the Queen to be in two places at once  and Lord Besarian is one of the most experienced leaders in our community. While he will now deserve some well earned leisure time he will also be avaliable to the Queen in order to aid her in making the best decisions for her new Queendom." At present a Royal Spokesman has confirmed that the Queen, Lord of the Conclave and the Queen's Envoy are currently working to ensure all seats within the Conclave are filled in a short space of time.

There is still no word on an official coronation ceremony and many people are suggesting this may be because of an inability to recover the body of Queen Klara for a formal cremation.

QUEEN MAKES LANDMARK ANNOUNCEMENT

The new Queen of Lodja has today announced that she intends to construct the first new Temple complex to Sessifet in 40 years. While there have been several Temples built across Lodja in that time no complexes have been founded. The plan is for an exact replica of the Temple of the Goddess which is located on the Isle just off the coast of Gaia which is considered sacred by those who worship Sessifet. It is said the first time the Goddess transfered her spirit into a human Queen was within that temple which was in effect carved out of a series of caves and is brightly decorated. The new complex will begin work next week and will be carved out of the rock with precision in a project overseen by Valentin Zima who is a respected sculpture from the capital city. The Queen explained her decision saying, "The Isle of the Goddess is a place that is not accessible to the general public for several reasons. The first that the Isle is a highly secure area and the second is that it is a site which must be protected and having thousands of people crowding to see it daily would potentially damage it. This way we can both honour the Goddess by building a new temple complex and at least allow the general public to feel as close to the Goddesses home as I am fortunate enough to be permitted to be."

The artists in charge, Valentin Zima, has explained the process they'll be taking saying. "21st Century technology makes the possible. We've been permitted to take 3D scanning equipment into every part of the Complex and ensure we've a map of the place. From there we will use the best system we can utilise to carve out of the rock the various chambers, corridors, staircases and the like. These will then be finished by being painted by the best artists we can find. It is our hope that when we have done someone will be unable to tell whether they are in our replica or the original." The news was not supported by the High Priestess Alla Kohan who said, "The Temple of the Goddess is a perfect place of peace and can never be replicated. To even consider doing so in an insult to the holiest place in our faith."

With Zhoya back under the control of the Queendom things were certainly looking up for young Queen Natalya. In her first days as Queen she had a victory under her belt, all be it one earned by the Morelanders and the Cenneg. What mattered now though was to stop Leopold. The good news was that seemed like they would have an opportunity. Word had come that the Aostan attack sub Totila and the destroyer Godepat were closing in on the Morelander and a small fleet, it was clear their plan of seeming to be a search party was foiled when the pair of Aostan patrol aircraft flew overhead. As soon as they saw the Morelander it was clear the deception was discovered and immediately they Aostans had radioed things through.

It would take a few minutes to filter the news through commands until it reached the Lodjains. A decision needed now to be made and it was a complex one. It was still unconfirmed whether Leopold was even onboard the captured ship however as soon as the patrol planes had made their report they came under fire from the two Frigates, a destroyer and a pair of coastal patrol ships below them from the renegade Lodjains. The barrage of fire was enough to drive the pair of aircraft away but that meant that soon they would be expecting company. Alarms rang out throughtout the ships and preparations began.

It would take about another thirty minutes until the Aostan assets got into range and by now orders had come back down the various systems of communication, the orders would be simple, destroyer the Morelander and everything with her. The commanders in Gaia had told Queen Natalya that it was likely that Isaac and the captured Conclave must be on board and Natalya acknowledged that was indeed a chance but that she would pray that they were either "good swimmers or lucky". The group was irrelevant to the future of Lodja. As the son of a former Queen the little Isaac served no purpose. If he grew up to be intelligent he would find himself a position perhaps in the diplomatic service or perhaps as an officer in the military, otherwise he would grow lazy off his families money and live out his life no doubt making the most of his former royal connections. The Conclave was already going to change significantly, Natalya had come to that decision already, therefore those onboard were expendable. To the commander of the Aostan ships though it would mean little as they would have no idea of the intelligence at the hands of those higher up. It therefore was the Godepat launched their first salvo of missiles. The speed off into the blue sky, some 40km to cover. The Lodjains could see it coming and began to move their ships into a position with the Morelander behind the others. The initial shot was not a problem, the Lodjain vessels had time enough to see it coming and the firepower to shoot it down. The Morelander launched a drone and much to the amusement of the Aostan's it was an unarmed reconnesance once however that was not the reason it was launched. At about the same time the Morelander launched its own missile and as the Aostan fleet began their own simple move of demolishing it the drone kamikazed towards the Aostan vessel. The CWIS system of the ship picked it up however and it exploded into a fireball high above the deck but pieces of its shrapnel covered then deck.

The fighting was at first a deadlock, each side fired missiles and the others intercepted them. It was only once the Aostan sub came into play that things began to change. Their target was not the Morelander. If they could breach the Frigates defence then the air defence coverage would begin to unpeel. The captain lined up a torpedo run on the Frigate and satisfied everything had been done ordered them to fire. The torpedos were picked up late and despite every attempt to avoid them they struck home rocking the Frigate with an explosion. It began to list to one side and would clearly, in time go down, but its weapons systems carried on trying to engage the Aostan surface fleet which was now beginning to come into gun range. Shells were now being added to the flying mass of metal above the combat area and as the stricken Lodjain dumped highly inaccurate torpedos into the water to try and get the Aostan sub the Morelander began sending drone after drone into the air. A helicopter managed to get off the deck of the Lodjain destroyer and jinking between missiles dropped a series of depth charges further driving the sub away. It was irrelevant as the sub had vanished, changed its track and had a line on the second Lodjain Frigate. This time the Lodjains got lucky, as the Aostans tried to fire their next barrage their onboard computer began to glitch much to the curses of their commander. It wouldn't matter too much as using the old fashioned periscope, stop watch and laser range finder they could still operate. This caused the Lodjain a problem, the torpedos were inaccurate enough to allow them to avoid them but it was another problem for them to contend with.

As though the Lodjains were not busy enough they now had the buzz of the first Achkaerin asset to arrive the INS Phoenix began to launch its missiles but once more the pair of Frigates could absorb the first of the barrage. One of the drones from the Morelander was tasked with dealing with it and after launching its small air to air missile it put itself square on the run the Phoenix was making. The game of chicken between a mechanical device and an aircraft with a live crew it was clear who would be the winner and as such by constantly setting up a drone the Phoenix was essentially being kept at long range like a boxer with an effective jab. With only six shot in its gun so to speak the Phoenix was soon out of ammo and would need to land somewhere to restock. It had however served its purpose. It had split the firepower of the Lodjains and even seen two of the drones miscalcuate and hit the surf themselves. BY now the Excalibur Frigate of Achkaerin had turned up within range and over the radio communication between them and the Aostan's who were now in a position of having to start reloading missiles was beginning. It was clear that as soon as the Lodjians hit the point of having to refill their own missile stocks the tide would turn and the slowly sinking Frigate was now abandoned. The other Lodjain assets now made a run towards the coast, the Morelander keeping its defenders between it and the Aostan and Achkaerin fleet. As drones tried to kamikaze the two attacking nations a third set of call signs joined the fray. A pair of Dragonbane II's had been fitted with anti-ship missiles and sent off to offer what help they could. While it was the missiles they were expecting to bring to the party one of them found itself becoming the first Dragonbane II to take down an aerial target as it got the drop on a drone trying to kamikaze the Excalibur. The pilot found themselves smiling as they wondered whether it was the first air to air kill with any of the Dragonbanes. It was a a thought to put to one side as they switched to anti-ship missiles and pinged one down towards the now rather awkwardly angled Lodjain firgate. It made a satisfying boom somewhere near the bridge and the guns onboard fell silent almost instantly. The chase was now on and as the battle moved out the area it began the sea was full of leaked oil, fragments of metal and the bright yellow life rafts of the now abandoning Lodjain vessel. It was the Phoneix that had turned rescue ship pulling them out the water while Achkaerin troops in the back searched them and then held them in the hold. It was as they pulled one life raft in they found two of the Conclave among them.

The Morelander was the prime target for the Dragonbane II's they had the advantage of being able to get well ahead of the defensive wall now being maintained by the Lodjain patrol ships that had largely been ignored and the remaining Frigate and Destroyer. The Destroyer fired off several ship to air missiles and the Dragonbane's had some close calls but by flying a wide arc they were able to get their shots off. The Morelander had run out of missiles to intercept and the CWIS system was momentarily overwhelmed as one made its way through and impacted just before the bow of the ship. The blast was above the water line but smoke began billowing out of the ship. Several helicopters now launched from the Morelander, their aim was the coast and not the chasing fleet that were about to settle the day.

The Excalibur turned its attention with its deck guns to the patrol ship nearest it. They had no choice it was clear the captain had put the ship on a collison course at full speed. It was a ridiciolous gesture as the Excalibur had plenty of time to get their aim right and soon a 5 inch shell punched through its deck clearly hitting something inside as an explosion was heard beneath deck and seemingly the ship split in two. A handful of people began to dive overboard and unlike with the sunk Frigate they would need to come back for those floating in the Alucard.

The Aostans had now got their VLS system back into the fight and along with their sub, still suffering computer problems, was about to take on the Lodjain Destroyer which seemed to be down to guns only. As the Aostan Destroyer Godepat aimed to overwhelm their enemies air defence systems the Aostan sub fired more torpedos. It was like a boxer who lands a perfect combo of jab to the head, hook to the body as a round from the Godepat ripped into the Lodjain Destroyers bridge as a torpedo took it in the stern. The blasts knocked a huge hole in the Lodjain Air Defence system and the next missile from the Godepat holed them effectively ending their fight.

It was looking forlorn for the Lodjains and matters got worse when the Aostan Maritime patrol aircraft re-entered the scenario. Armed with Harpoon missiles they could finish the job that the Morelander Dragonbane II's had started and with their escort all but gone it wasn't a surprise that the missiles had soon caused an explosion in the flight deck and then punched another hole in the side. The Morelander was going down. The Phoneix had launched one of its RHIBs, not in this case to pick up those abandoning ship but to try and board. As everyone else was clambering down the side five members of the Achkaerin military were trying their best to enter through a smoking hole. They'd brought NBC kit with them expecting to have to deal with the smoke of the fires and having forced their way in through the black smoke surveyed the situation. It was not a pleasant one as their was twisted metal everywhere and a fanfare of alarms. The Achkaerin military had been onboard the Cyborg Class more than a few times and so its layout was no mystery. "We've about three minutes" the boarding parties commander told them and they did their best to force a way up the ever changing angle of the corridor outside the room they'd entered, evidently a mess hall. Lodjains put up no resistance and despite yelling at them "Where is Leopold?" or "Where is Isaac" the men where in too much of a panic to answer as people hurried to get themselves off the ship. It became clear they were finding nothing and so as the situation told them it was time to get the hell out of there themselves they headed for the deck. En route they passed by what remained of the bridge and one of them had a quick stop by but again it was empty. They grabbed a few suffering Lodjains who looked like it would be touch and go as to whether they would get off the vessel and having thrown them overboard made the leap themselves before swimming to where their comrades in the RHIB held a gaggle of floating Lodjains under the aim of their mounted gun. They stayed floating in the water themselves instead putting wounded men in the RHIB as they waited for the Phoenix to catch up with them but even that huge aircraft was struggling now to find space. Phoenix's commander made the decision to launch their remaining inflatables and having landed even began getting the rescued sailors to sit on the wings while they waited for other vessels. A few merchant ships in the area, now reassured that the fighting was subsiding were en route to provide aid and now with their missiles exhausted the Aostan patrol planes dropped inflatable rafts into the area before heading back home.

The battle was over but what remained was the helicopters. They'd had a head start on any air assets among the Aostans or Achkaerin vessels but they wouldn't be able to evade the air assets coming from the Lodjain mainland. They were intercepted and forced to land just as they reached the coast. A group of Lodjain Marines greeted them and prepared for resistance was expecting to have to take the helicopters and those onboard out. Instead the doors opened and the soldiers onboard gave up. They'd been promised that a land force loyal to Leopold would meet them and that they'd carry the fight to land however that was simply a lie. They were asked were Leopold was and everyone of those in the helicopters told them the same. "Leopold and Helene Tar had left the Morelander when they'd joined up with a yacht last night. No one knew where they were heading except for a "Vital meeting". The man was still out there somewhere and now it appeared the mother of Viktoriya Tar was somehow involved. That had been a surprise to many but it seemed that for now at least Leopold was done for, his assets had gone, his supporters betrayed and he was running with his tail between his legs.

Over the course of the next six hours there was a lot to unpack. The Phoenix found various vessels from Aosta and Lodjain Navies coming to pick up the sailors they'd rescued and all would be returned to the custody of Lodja. Three of the Conclave were discovered, Lord Yuily Shvets, Isay Yakovlev (Minsiter of Environmental Affairs) and Borys Volkov (Junior Education Minister), the other three had been oboard the Frigate that had sank at the start of the battle and so it seemed, Maxim Schnoor (Minister of Home Affairs), Vissarion Novikov (Minister of Education) and Lady Ninel Naomov (Minister of Foreign Affairs) would be lost to the seas. There was no sign of Isaac. He'd been left onboard the Morelander in the care of a Ensign and nobody had found him, nor would they ever as the Cyborg Class began its descent to the ocean floor.

That evening word had obviously been spreading of the conflict at sea. It was time now though for the Lodjains new Queen to take to the TV screens and inform the world.

Quote from: TV Statement

People of Mundus. Nearly a year ago the former King of Lodja, Leopold Hamsik attempted to destroy the Queendom of Lodja from within. Using his influence and connections he turned neighbour against neighbour and used his own child as a pawn. Thinking Leopold was a man that he could trust hundreds of Lodjains placed their lives in his hands and threw their lot in with him believing he would give them the world. He has given them only misery and death. I am able tonight to say though that the threat he posed to our nation is over. Today I am thankful to forces from Aosta, Achkaerin and East Moreland in destroying what was left on the renegade forces. The HMDS Morelander is now no more, it sits at the bottom of the Alucard. Leopold is defeated and having told his men of a great army waiting for them on land those who managed to escape the battle in the Alucard found themselves just 45 men. Everything Leopold had told them was a lie.

The conflict has not come without sacrifice. Our nation has lost much and I will speak of that shortly. I must though ensure that the world knows of the sacrifices of troops from East Moreland and Ui Cenneslaig who freed the island of Zhoya where Lodjains and tourists from several nations had been used as human shields by those loyal to Leopold. I must go on record and thank members of East Moreland, Ui Cennesliag, The Unified Iwi, Aostan and Achkaerin Navies who joined us in combing the seas for Leopold and of course Aosta and Achkaerin's navy for destroying the threat of this renegade fleet aided by Morelander aircraft. Those who have been injured or died during their aid for our nation will always have a place in our nations hearts and one of my first acts as Queen will be to ensure each of the casualties are given a pension from the Queendom and either themselves or the dependents granted Lodjain citizenship should they ever wish it. Those who have shed blood for this land are as much part of it as the soil and grass.

Lodjains may not have been part of the action that brought this to an end but we have suffered. Trusts have been broken, families split and communities disharmonised. We will repair this. Those who fought for Leopold will face tribunals and given a chance to explain their actions. Anyone found guilty of a crime will face justice in an open court in exactly the same way as they would had they stolen a car. Those found not guilty will be given a chance to reintegrate into society. We have to find ways to heal. Among the dead are members of the Conclave,  Maxim Schnoor , Vissarion Novikov  and Lady Ninel Naomov all died aboard the ships aligned against us. Sadly Prince Isaac has also died. They shall be honoured and remembered. We have seen cowardly strikes on the Queen take the lives of Queen Klara and Lady in Waiting Anna Immich. We have seen members of the East Moreland embassy killed within Gaia along with innocent civilians going about their business. We owe it to each of these to build a better Lodja. In the coming days I have to unenviable task of having to grieve for my countryman and at the same time begin rebuilding a nation. It will be a different nation as some good must come from the losses we have suffered. I never thought a day would come after missing out once that I would wear the crown of Lodja and I wish it never had. We must play the hand we are dealt and I believe that Lodja can and will give me a strong hand. We shall emerge as a better nation.

Sadly among those who have died Leopold Hamsik is not among them. His location unknown but as he ran with his tail between his legs it is clear the man is a coward. With him sadly was the much loved and respected Helene Tar, seemingly part of the conspiracy. This is a sad fate for the Tar family. Queen Viktoriya Tar in her short reign was a visionary for our land and does not deserve to have her family name so sullied. As such from this day forward I shall be stripping Helene Tar of her titles and she shall forver be known as Helene Quisling by this administration. Many will ask about the fate of Princess Alana Tar she is currently in custody and like everyone involved in the crisis shall be investigated. Should she be found to be loyal she will become the matriach of the Tar family and I pray she carries on her sisters legacy. Should she be found to be disloyal then she will face justice. While those ringleaders are now beyond our reach for now we will not stop the search. Justice will be done one way or another but for now mourn the dead, rejoyce that this is over and I shall address you soon regarding the future of our nation."

As Leopold turned off the TV having seen the announcement he drained his shot of Vodka. For now he would disappear. He had money stashed away in several places, he had shares in places people didn't know of and most importantly for now he had a floatplane that could get him to a private airfield in Nya Aland and from there to a mountain villa in Zaporozh. They spoke a similar language there and he was confident no one would expect him to surface there. Helene Tar was with him as he began loading the float plane, "What will we do about Alana?" the former Queen's mother asked about her daughter now in some legal limbo.

"Fuck her" Leopold laughed and then realised how that could sound. He put his face close to Helene, "And I wish it had been her not her saggy assed Mother." Helene was shocked. "You're the reason this failed. You promised me men, you said the Tar family had men loyal to them. You said you'd get Alana to my side and she'd ensue we had support from the insiders. You messed up and now I'm forced to go and live among the Northern God fanatics."

"I am too you'll not be alone." She put her hand on his arm. "We'll be together." Leopold pulled his arm away as with his other he reached behind his back. Helene never saw the pistol coming up as he shot first into her chest. A shocked look spread over her face.

"I have money, I'm handsome and I have an appetite for younger and prettier girls than you. You're useless to me now. Join Viktoria" he finished as he fired a second bullet, this one into the middle of her forehead. He cursed as blood got onto his suit and dabbed at it making it only worse on his pale blue jacket. "Shit!" he exclaimed and in a last act on Lodjain soil took of his jacket and threw it on the body of Helene Tar before climbing into the cockpit of his escape vehicle. He would disappear, for now, and see what this new Queen was about.

To some of the newer ones hereyou may not know but me and Dave are a RL couple. I got him into RP as I enjoyed creative writing, and was inspired particularly (no shock coming) by the works of Frank Herbert. It was though Dave who found TIO and dragged me here. I've loved being here and missed the place when the RL of the past nearly two years has messed up things recreationally for me. The TIO I've returned to though as of late is very much how I see Altona describing and I'd support the majority of what she has said.

I will though be contractually obligated to say I think you may have misjudged Dave. There is no way he'd do anything to intentionally screw someone over, mess up their RP or do anything to screw up TIO. The very fact that some of you think he has is probably making him feel gutted. I think Dave should and must remain in his position.

I thought Altona's RP idea sounded ace.

For the Bene Gesserit this festival of culture carried mixed feelings. It was a chance to embrace their ancient Celtic side that they had managed to keep alive so far away from home for so many years, yet on the flipside it meant returning to the place of their exile. It was an easy enough hardship though, many of them still retained connections to the Celtic world. This was especially true of the Corrino family who had spent their exile in Ui Cenneslaig. It was left to Niklaus Corrino to head up the official delegation to the monarchs. He was accompanied by the Theocracies Foreign Minister, Melissa Debdale who had once served the Cenneg monarchy in their diplomatic service. Niklaus had been a close friend of King Finley back during his exile but this was their first meeting since the Theocracies independence. There of course would also be the intrigue of how the other Celtic nations would treat them. "Good Morning everyone" Niklaus was in joyful mood as he entered the Estate House. "King Finley the Reverend Mother sends her greetings and sends you an invite to the Theocracy once you have the time. Of course that extends to all of you." Niklaus turned to address the other monarchs but failed to explain that such a journey would mean travelling first to Chistopol before a drive down the desert highway.

Word had reached the Bene Gesserit of the meeting organised by the Queen of Eigg. It was a small but interesting Kingdom and so the Reverned Mother had instructed Simon Fremen to attend the meeting she was throwing. He wasn't sure how he would be welcomed but he was a Duke by title and his family had at least some renown in Aosta. "Your Majesty" he bowed to the young Queen. "I'm Simon, the heir to the title Duke of the Fremen. I'm instructed to bring the greetings of the Reverned Mother of Kaitaine and hope you'll accept this as a gift." He produced an ornate carved wooden box like those favoured by the Truthsayers as distractions to make during off duty periods. They contained the spice melange, the Bene Gesserit faithful believed it gave insight to the divine while to many of the non-believers it was just something that tasted like cinnamon and went nice of cake. Either way it was considered a gift by the Bene Gesserit and so Simon handed it over to the Queen.

Lilias MacIomhair was back on home soil and it felt like she'd never been away. During her young life she'd visited the Highland Games many times but this time was different. Just a few weeks ago she'd graduated as a Missionara Protectiva and now was proudly wearing the blue tunic of her faiths scholars. Across her back she had her fiddle and made her way into one of the tents serving food , she'd been timetabled to play and was now running late. She made her way inside found the stage, removed her tunic jacket and began to play. Half an hour later she finished and had a break where she found a seat among some of the others and enjoyed some food.

Leopold sensed his best chance was now. He had five ships with him, two Frigates, a destroyer and a pair of coastal patrol ships. It wasn't much of a fleet but it was good enough. With the various CNN nations focusing on the island of Zhonyna the door was largely open for a run on the coastal town of Stakiua. It was nothing other than a small seaside resort and nothing of military worth stood there. It was a soft target but it opened up the north or the nation to further action. The five ships kept close together making their exact fleet make up difficult to ascertain. The lead Frigate had radioed in that they'd picked up transmissions between the Water Nomads and the Morelander. They'd not been exactly difficult to fake and now they were en-route with the militaries blessings.

Queen Natalya had made her way to the had made her way to the Isle of the Goddess with little fanfare. The Isle was empty of many of the usual people and only those of the Conclave remained. She had been offered the rooms of the Queen by the household staff but that didn't feel right. She had settled on a set of rooms that had always been put aside for a visiting dignitary such as a foreign King or Queen. The next few days would hold some difficult conversations and the first was with Besarian Ivanov. The Lord of the Conclave was summound to see the new Queen but he had been expecting that since she had turned up on the Isle. "Please Lord Besarian have a seat" Natalya greeted him after he had knocked on her door at the appointed hour.

"Thank you Your Majesty" Besarian sat at one of the chairs next to the desk, he had planned to begin the conversation by congratulating her on her ascendency to the throne but even before he had settled on the chair the Queen was beginning.

"There is no easy way to say this so I suppose I better just get straight to the point" The Queen hadn't even took her own seat behind the desk yet as she was already getting things underway. "I need to show Lodja and the world that the Queendom is changing. With that in mind I am going to appoint a new Lord of the Conclave." She could see Besarian about to protest. "I understand this is a shock" she held a hand up to silence him. "You've served three Queens and done an incredible job in some very strange circumstances but things need to change. I will however be naming you the new Lord of the Isle's Approach." It was a title not used for the past three years but one that had historically been very prestigious. "And rather than being Lord of the Conclave I'm going to ask you to be my personal adviser. I'm a young Queen not used to the world of politics and you're the most experienced politician that I can count on. While you won't have a say in the Conclave you'll be helping me directly draft policy, prepare for speeches and persuading people to see sense in what I want." She smiled warmly. "I hope you'll accept."

Besarian was torn, he was in one way being demoted. The title Lord of the Conclave was the most prestigious outside the royal family however it was one where he had since the death of Queen Sonya been a mouthpiece for the Queen, simply guiding her policies through. He was now being given a real chance to shape them as Natalya clearly wanted his input. He could still have influence and power that he craved all be it from behind the scenes. He did his best to not look too disappointed. "I am obliged to accept my Queen's requests." He said with as much grace as he could muster. "Can I ask who will be taking on the role of Lord of the Conclave?"

"Of course" Natalya said. She had been giving it a lot of thought, "We're going to ask Lubos Kubik to come back into the fold. He's respected among the military, he's a loyalist and popular."

"A good choice" Besarian said more relieved that his rival Dragan was not getting the role. "I'd have thought though he'd have been the Minister of Defence once more, I assume you're keeping Prince Lennox."

"Wrong" Natalya teased, "If Lodja is to be seen as a strong nation we can't have a foreigner on our Conclave. The Minister of Defence is going to be sorted once this mess is cleared up, but for now Lennox stays."

"DESERT CREATURE" AIM FOR WINTER GAMES

There is a common saying among the Bene Gesserit, especially those in the Theocracy of Kaitaine, "I am a desert creature". The affinity that the mythology that surrounds the Bene Gesserit faith has built makes almost all members of the faith view the desert as a home. It is therefore strange that Kimberley Ruzokav, a 28 year old member of the Missionara Protectiva is hoping to become the first person from the Theocracy of Kaitaine to represent the nation in the Winter Games. Ruzokav competes in the skeleton bob and has a fairly decent record having previously had to fund all the training herself. Since the formation of the Theocracy funds have been made avaliable to help support athletes looking to compete and Ruzokav, who is based in the Highlands of Ui Cenneslaig where she trains, has been one of those who has been given significant support to achieve their dreams. Ruzokav has been given acceptance into the Winter Games so long as she hits the required qualifying time and with several Cenneg based competitions coming up she stands every chance. "We have three competitions over the next few weeks. I've got to beat the qualifying time in at least one of them and I'm currently only 0.5 seconds off, I'm confident I'll break the standard in the next competition as it takes place at the track I've been training at. I know the track like the back of my hand and the runs always get quicker in competition as the ice gets worked." This will be the first oppurtunity for the Theocracy to attend the Winter Games since the nation declared its independence under the Tartu Accords.

Ruzokav was born in Arrakeen to a Bene Gesserit family but was smuggled first over the border into Chistopol when she was two years old. From there she was found a foster family in Ui Cenneslaig where she attended Chapterhouse. While there she was able to take part in extra curricular activities that included skiing and snowboarding. It was on a school trip to Cantabria that she first tried "Sliding" "I was 14 and we had a chance to go on a kind of toboggan run. I got such an adrenaline rush that I just wanted more and more. When I got back to school I just wanted to go again and so I spoke with our House Mistress and she found that there were clubs about half an hour away from Chapterhouse. I would go on the train once a week to start with and then twice and suddenly it was all I wanted to do." At 16 she competed in her first event and came 17th out of 17 but had got the bug for the sport. "I was competing against girls at least four years older than me with much more experience. I was obviously going to come last but being around people who shared an interest in my passion made me want to compete more and more. Its not just about winning for me its about hanging out with people with similar interests. They say you need to be a little crazy to do the skeleton bob and I guess we just all had a lot of fun." While becoming more and more obsessed with the skeleton the youngster also found her studies could help. "I got to understand that the tiniest little advantage could make a big difference by the time you reached the bottom of the hill. I got interested in aerodynamics, physics, sports sciences just to try and get an edge. As a result I found myself drafted into the Missionara and went to Stranclyde University to study Aeronautical Engineering, not because I wanted to work with planes but simply to help me develop with my sport and it seemed to work."

Stories of people like Ruzokav have been highlighted of late as the nation aims to boost sports. Duke Niklaus Corrino has provided funding for many athletes and has explained the ideas behind the policy. "Sport is a way of us gaining positive international esteem. Nations that have carved out a strong sporting legacy have found it easy to be proud of their homes. We're a young nation, the youngest on Mundus I believe. We need to start building some legacies of our own. Members of the Bene Gesserit have won medals under many flags across Mundus, now its time the black and orange of the Theocracy wins some in its own right."

OOC- All parts involving others agreed by those involved. Cheers folks

Following the announcement that Natalya Kozel was to be Queen of Lodja there was one obvious problem, she wasn't in Lodja. That was her first priority, she needed to get home but first there had to be a pit stop. She had just been elevated from the position of a private citizen who as Envoy occasionally did some work for the Queen, to being the one to appoint Envoy's. That was the reason King David had inisited that before heading to Lodja the new Queen travel to Aldcliffe, home of East Moreland's elite Red Legion. It was a place that was unaccustomed to visiting foreigners but this had been an important visit. Natalya had expected to see smartly uniformed men drilling in tough conditions but that wasn't the case at all. The Barracks seemed largely full of men in sports gear and looking more like they were planning a trip to the pub than into combat. The Queen was accompanied by Princess Freya and Alex Redfern, both of them knew Aldcliffe well. For Alex it was a second home and for Freya it had been the site of one of her biggest disappointments when she failed selection. They were there to make the introductions to Brigadier Kelly the man tasked with herding the chaos that Red Legion could at times be. "Your Majesty" he nodded to Natalya as she entered his rather plain office. Even the furniture had seen better days, he hardly spent anytime there so felt it pointless having the place nice. "Your Highness" He was happy to see Freya back here and still held out hopes she'd be the first woman of the modern era to pass selection. "Alex" He hardly acknowledged Redfern as the man spent so much time around the Brigadier and was here mainly just as the man making the introductions.

"Thank you for seeing me Brigadier" Natalya was rather shocked by the offices shabbiness. In her mind Kelly would have had some huge ornate office with grand windows and decorations of the units history adorning the walls but she was pretty certain she could see some paint peeling in the corner.

"Anytime Your Majesty" The Brigadiers aide-de-camp entered with mismatched mugs of tea and a plate of biscuits, some looked like they'd already snapped in two. Kelly picked up one of the mugs and poured in a hefty helping of sugar. "I've been asked to provide you with an initial security detail. I've assigned these four men." He passed over four hefty folders, "All of them have served tours in Lodja helping with your armed forces so speak Lodjain to a passable standard. They'll be lead by Captain Sebastian Johnson who is already in Lodja and will meet you in Gaia.

"Thank you Brigadier" Natalya had a few question of basic things such as how security details would work and their duties. Things that she suspected royals learned from a young age. Once satisfied they made their way to the bases airfield where the four men, each much better dressed than the others on the base waited. The four men in suits each carried a rucksack and a large trolly-case containing their gear. Ironside Two was waiting and soon the flight was underway.

On Zhoya the situation was unchanged. At one side of the island East Moreland's Royal Marines held down old Ducal Palace in the town that shared its name with the island, at the opposite side of the island the Royal Kerns Commando's had a cordon on a hotel and restaurant were Pro-Leopold forces were taking refuge. There had been small scale skirmishes as CNN forces had tried to find a way to scout positions and on a couple of occasions Pro-Leopold forces had tried to escape into the countryside. A couple of people had been successful and the Marines sent to track them down had been fighting several small fire fights in the forests. The situation was not out of control but it had taken time and resources to find such individuals and rest assured any who were missed would be watching over proceedings.

One such team from the Ducal Palace had managed to evade capture and had managed to make contact with the HMDS Morelander. It was some distance away tucked into a bay flanked by a pair of patrol ships that had made their way over. The Morelander could have fired missiles to support the rebels on Zhoya but that would have given away their position. Instead Leopold launched one of the drones with a pair of missiles designed to take out tanks. It would likely be a one way trip for the drone but Leopold was confident they could make a statement.

The drone kept low over the sea hoping to minimise it's radar signature. It was a small aircraft and the multitude of islands would make radar contact difficult. As the drone got closer East Moreland aircraft flying from Cobble Field began to move in to intercept but by the time they could intercept it the drone had managed to launch the two missiles. The target was the Frigate Philip The Wild. Alarms began ringing on the ship as a Dragonbreath fighter desperatly tried to splash down the drone in the vain hope it may throw the missile off. The first missile was on track until the Frigate's anti-missile defences engaged it making it explode in a fire ball. Meanwhile the second one had been fired and taken up a track just behind the other, it had masked the approach of the second and as such it sneaked through. The ship rocked violently and fire alarms blurred out. Onboard the missile had hit a few meters above sea level. Damage control teams sprinted to the area as shell shocked sailors dragged their injured friends out of what had been the water filtration and pumping section of the ship. It was fortunate that the missile was not a specialist anti-ship one but either way they'd need some help and so put out a distress call.

The various Cenneg and Morelander vessels rushed to the scene and gave what help they could. The "Phil" was still floating but would need to be towed to a safe harbour and a decision was made that with Zhoya being relatively safe they would wait for the time being before such a tow was made. The injured were flown by helicopter to Cobble Field and from there back to hospitals for specialist treatment.

It had been nearly a day since Philip the Wild had been hit and Sebastain Johnson was waiting at Gaia's military air base. He'd co-opted in his friend, former Red Legionnaire officer Keir Peters and Royal Protection Officer Tillie Breckenridge to suppliment his team of Red Legionnaires. The trio had been in country as a response to the initial attacks and had pulled Klara out of the embassy attack, now they'd support Seb in his new role. "Your Majesty" Sebastian greeted his new protectee. "Welcome home" He added. "We've a car waiting to take you to the Isle of the Goddess" Seb explained as the Queen was shown towards a heavy military vehicle. Three identicial ones awaited and as soon as everyone was onboard the car headed off. Natalya sat next to Seb in the back seat.

"We're going to People's People's Square" the Queen said calmly.

"I don't think thats a great idea" Seb said. "Beside why are we going there?"

"It can't be the fact anyone's planned to kill me. No-one knew that I was coming home today except you and I've just decieded to go there now. So surely we've an element of surprise." Seb had to admit she kind of had a point.

"Well your the boss" the Red Legionnaire relayed orders to the others and in around fifteen minutes they'd arrived. Tillie took the lead as this manner of work was her bread and butter. She looked around and no-body had yet took notice that this wasn't a military patrol, such things had become routine during the crisis as of late. She nodded that everything was fine and Natalya was quickly ushered out with her new security team close about her. The people in the government building there that was used by the civil service was shocked as their new Queen entered and with minimal acknowledgement made her way up to the large ball room on the top floor. It had a magnificent balcony and more importantly for Natalya had a public address system used for festivals. The staff hastily turned it on as a crowd gathered below. Seb was rather nervous but understood the need for what was happening.

Soon Natalya was ready, a few handscribbled notes from her jacket pocket emerged as Keir checked the microphone. "Ladies and Gentleman" Natalya began her voice shaking slightly. "I am saddened and proud to be your Queen. It should have been my friend Klara speaking to you today but evil sought to take her from us. She had every intention of leaving Lodja in a place where every citizen had a bright future and I today intend to continue walking her path. Today a countdown begins. In 30 days time elections will take place for the Tribune of the Plebs. While the position currently exists it has always been appointed by the Queen, from this time forward it will be elected by the Plebs. Whoever they elect will be given a seat on the Conclave and have the exact same voting rights on it as every other member. In 60 days time the Queen's Business Portfolio will open. Any Pleb who is able to prove they are registered for appropriate licencess and taxes for their business and who registers with the $1.00 a year fee will be permitted to trade under the banner of myself as a Patrician overseeing their business. There will be annual checks to ensure they are acting in a manner appropriate for a business connected with the Queen but as long as they pay their taxes and the annual fee they will be free to trade as they see fit free from the influence of any other Pleb who may traditionally have called for larger shares in the business. I wanted to tell you these things in person to show you that I will be a Queen taking action to continue the legacy of Viktoria, Klara and even Sonya. I hope I can be worthy of your support. Thank you." the Queen waved to the crowd that had gathered and who were now applauding. She stepped back into the building and breathed a sigh of relief.

LODJAIN QUEEN GIVES FIRST INTERVIEW

48 hours ago it was confirmed that  Nataliya Kozel would be named as the new Queen of Lodja. This is a unique appointment for two reasons, the first being that at the age of 22 she is four years older than a Queen who normally inherits the throne of Lodja. The second, and perhaps most significant reason for her appointment being unique is that she has spent a significant time living outside the Queendom. For the last six years or so the Queen has resided in the Commonweath of the Iwi, first as her father was appointed Ambassador to the Commonwealth and then after not being selected as Queen four years ago she was appointed as an Emissary of the Queen, a kind of travelling ambassador. As Emissary she elected to base herself at Hunter's Bay, the capital of the Commonwealth, where she gained a degree in Geography. She is currently in East Moreland where she was visiting her friend Queen Stasya and her newborn son Prince Llewellyn. Keen to get word to her new subjects back in Lodja the young Queen agreed to conduct an interview with the East Moreland media.

As the new Queen of Lodja please accept our condolences for the death of Queen Klara. A tragic death caused by the ongoing situation with Leopold Hamsik. May we start by asking what are your intentions regarding that ongoing situaton

Thank you for you words. Klara was not just my Queen but my friend. That time we spent together before she was selected as Queen allowed me to see a funny, intelligence and magical girl who had begun to be a great Queen, she would have brought so much more not just to Lodja but to Mundus had she lived. Leopold has denied Klara a life, denied Lodja an amazing Queen and denied Mundus someone who would have grown into an incredible force of good. Someone who snuffs out a light that could have shined so brightly is not someone that can be permitted to gain even the smallest shred of power or control on Mundus. This self proclaimed Monarchy of Lodja exists only in the imagination of fools. I am saddened that so many people have been taken in by Leopolds insanity and must now be stopped. To any of those supporters listening or reading this you can extrecate yourself from the situation by laying down arms and turning yourself in. You have my word you'll be treated with the mercy and compasion Sessifet gave those who submitted to her. If you persist in this course of action then we have no choice as there can only be one Lodja. In the coming hours I'll be working with our friends to try and rectify the current confusion in my homeland and have this matter resolved sooner rather than later.

If it was possible to  set aside differences and negotiate with Leopold in order to bring peace and stability to Lodja would that happen?

If you had asked me that before the assassination I would have said it was a slim possibility. There was a chance that there could have been discussions on reforms, on accodating some of Leopolds ambitions. The moment though you send a missile into the house of your wife then any chance of such things goes out the window in my mind. While I believe Lodja is not a perfect nation yet and that some of the things Leopold is, in the media at least, calling for do make sense. There is though no way this can be done with Leopold at the helm or connected with it in anyway. Peace and stability will return to Lodja but Leopold will not be part of it.

What can we expect from a Queen Nataliya set of reforms?

I think the first thing we need to do is recognise that the world Sessifet has created today is different to that when we first began recording her faith. Since the 3rd Century BC there has been some kind of Queen in Lodja, our current system of selecting a monarch was instigated in 1100 when Klara Zima was named as Queen. At that point it was an unmarried 14 year old girl destined to be he Guardian of Sessifet, the Goddess living inside her. Since then we've seen changes, as life expectancy increased and as the world's morals changed we saw it go up one year at a time until in 1859 East Moreland's Queen Staysa's ancestor,  Elena Pelagiya, was the first 18 year old to be named as Queen. We were lucky to have Queen Sonya for over 80 years on the throne bringing wisdom and guidance her experience allowed. We've now had three Queens in short order and all of us have been young, very young. We need to do something in that regard. I would hope the Priesthood would consider removing age as a qualification for Queen and instead looking at people who could do a great job in leading the nation.

I think the Conclave needs reform. Its been for too long the plaything of old men. We have only ever had one woman on the things, and no Plebs. While a Pleb may technically be from a family who have yet to give remarkable service to the nation that does not mean that service can not be on the Conclave. We have a Tribune of the Plebs appointed by the Queen to be the voice of the Plebs, but they are not a Pleb themselves, that doesn't make sense to me. I will be issuing orders that an election will take place and that any Lodjain aged over 18 may nominate themselves for Tribune of the Plebs. Only Plebs may vote and I promise the winner, whoever they are, a place on the Conclave.

In terms of the Pleb and Patrician relationship that needs to change to. There are too many restrictions on the Plebs. For example to be able to open a business they must have permission of a Patrician. This often comes at the price of the Patricians gouging a large share of the business for themselves. I am going to order the creation of the Queen's Business Portfolio. Any Pleb willing to pay a membership fee of $0.01 will be admitted and may use my name as their approval. Should however I find any business on the Portfolio acting illegally I will remove them and they will be forced to close. Any good honest business will have nothing to fear and Plebs will be able to run a business to benefit them not some already rich Patrician.

I will not though advocate the idea of removing the distinction between Pleb and Patrician. It is a central part of our culture, it has served us well and encourages people wishing to climb the ladder of social mobility to do something to benefit their nation. The idea though will be to make the process easier and less relaint on multi-generations being required to qualify. Currently four generations of family must serve in the military to qualify the family as Patrician. I will reduce that to two or maybe a system of a family contributing a set number of years service. I will also look at those working in the public sector in such jobs as teaching, doctors, nurses and other such professions also qualifying people.

Finally for now my ambition is to not be a Queen stuck out away from the people. The Isle of the Goddess is a beautiful place and a Holy home. It however sets the Queen apart from her people. I will be exploring the possibility in the short term of a home in Gaia itself, in the long term establishing some new royal house at the edge of the city. Rather than sitting in luxury in the Palace being an object to be marvelled at I intend to be a Queen that see's her people everyday. How can I solve their problems if I am so seperate from them.

You've spoken at length about domestic matters but as Queen you'll be responsible for interactions with many places across Mundus.  What is your opinion regarding the civil war in Centralia?

While Centralia sits across the Kyne from us it is always tragic when any war breaks out. I do not know enough about the Christian faith to comment on the Lord's Resistance Army. I do now Christianity has as one of its Ten Commandments "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and it is sad to see so many going against this from what I hear of the Guerilla Fighting. The recent broadcast of jets overflying their cities launching missiles is shocking and I hope it can be ended soon. The people must be given a chance to control their own destinies and while we ourselves are making tracks towards allowing that to a greater extent I recognise we ourselves are not there yet. Centralia I hope can walk a similar path.

Having spent a lot of time in the Commonwealth of the Iwi the next international incident is one that perhaps you will be more familiar with. What is your opinion regarding the navy developments in the Sea of Kyne?

Had I several years ago been on the cruise ship the Maori landed a helicopter on I would have been terrified. Would I have understood their reason for doing so, of course I would. Have the Maori technically broken the FSC, from my knowledge yes they probably have. However throughout history we have seen that at times for justice to come sometimes radical steps are needed. My question would be what harm came to the ship? To my knowledge none, while people may have paniced it became clear the Maori where there for one purpose. In the time since the apprehension of the Seleucid officer can we truly say Mundus has done anything to try and bring people who have committed horrific crimes to justice? I don't think we can. On the other hand we have seen the Maori do this once and Rokkenjima send a mighty fleet to their area. Yet we've seen other such breaches of the FSC, such as the capture of a Maori gas tanker by the Seleucid and nothing has happened. I know that during CNN meetings the Morelanders and Cenneg have talked of how they do not want to see repeats of the cruise ship incident, and they haven't happened again. Yet some five years later the time is right to take action. To me that does not make sense. A five year period in which the Maori have not broken the FSC and then they are effectively put on notice? One could argue a state of conflict still goes on between the Maori and the Seleucid as no formal peace was ever signed. I know first hand the Maori are a determined people frustrated that thousands of Seleucid perpatrators of genocide escape justice while the world does nothing, this is a bigger travesty than a nation who for the last five years have followed international law.

Lodja was a founding member of the CNN and has extremely strong ties with all three of its allies. What will relations with non-CNN nations look like under your reign?

One thing I like about the Isle of the Goddess was how easy it gave almost any nation on Mundus access to our highest levels of government. This is something I want to try and retain. I will never turn down an invitation to talk with anyone, nor will I ever close my door to them. Alongside the CNN Lodja are members of TUNA, an organisation that has probably done more than anyone else on Mundus to tackle ocean pollution. We are members of the Council of Albion, a body that is perhaps sometimes underutilised. Another underutilised agency is the Network of Crowns, Queen Viktoriya established it and yet we've allowed a creation helped by Sessifet to sit silent for too long. We've also neighbours we've done little to be true friends to such as Kermah and Paracambi. I think Aosta too are a nation that have been steadfast supporters of us in the current situation in the Alucard. With them applying for CNN membership I think I'd be delighted to build with them, especially as both nations are currently coming to terms with tragedy. A growing CNN is something that excites me.

Lodjain families, especially nobility, are traditionally from wealthy backgrounds. As you become Queen what is your net-worth? Do you follow that pattern?

I'm not going to try and deny the fact that the Kozel family is fortunate enough to be wealthy. My great-grandfather began an expansive property portfolio that the family have developed, sold off, reinvested in and sits comfortably on. It would be safe to say several generations of Kozel could get away without ever having what you would consider a job and still be fine. Personally though my bank account sits with very little in, I own personally very little property, a small beach house in the Commonwealth, a car and a few bits of gifted jewellrey. As heir to the Kozel estate though I know when, hopefully in the far off future, my father dies I would inherit everything however I've made it clear to family that this would be ridiciolous and so instead everything of value in the Kozel's will pass to my younger sister Yolana. As a family the Lodjain Times financial pages claim we're worth close to $50million, I meanwhile would be closer to $200,000. I suspect that makes me perhaps the poorest monarch on Mundus until such a time as I formally get coronated.

Thank you for your time. As a final question do you have any idea when you will make your way to your homeland

With the current situation there I'm not going to make a big target of myself by giving away such details. I will though first need to return to the Commonwealth of the Iwi to wind up some issues there then where in Lodja I go first is open for discussion with the people I need to communicate with back home. I want to be there as soon as is both safe and useful.

It is understood that King David has allocated a Red Legion security detail to the young Queen while she remains in East Moreland and has put Ironside One at her disposal to return to either the Commonwealth or home. The King today went on record to say. "I don't know Nataliya as well as many Lodjain nobles. She is though someone Stasya is very fond of and therefore I hope that is enough to allow me to call her a friend already. There is a strong bond between Lodja and East Moreland, even before my own marriage. I am confident that in the face of this tragedy we shall continue to build this relationship to become ever stronger."

DAY OF SHOCKING NEWS

The day has seen a series of shocking events that have rocked the Queendom. With the nation standing on the edge of a full blown civil war a few weeks ago it had appeared that the situation was calming down and any uprising was contained to the island of Zhoyan where forces loyal to the crown are working with CNN allies to clear the stronghold of Pro-Leopold forces. With the eyes of the media following that conflict it was then a devestating shock when news came from Noginsk that a missile strike launched by renegade Leopoldian forces had hit the royal residence there. What had been believed to be a highly secure area was compromised when an apparent covert rebel force managed to take part of the residences anti-missile defence system off line creating an oppurtunity for the strike. The Queen was resident at the time and roughly an hour after the strike took place her body was removed from the rubble and she was declared dead at the scene. As digging continued for survivors it was also discovered that the Queen's Chief Lady in Waiting, Anna Immich, had also been killed. A total of 16 people were confirmed dead in addition while 32 were taken to hospital. It is expected that the death toll will increase in the coming days.

As news of the Queen's Death spread through the nation the Conclave meet back on the Isle of the Goddess. Traditionally during times following the death of the Queen there had been a number of weeks before the announcement of a new Queen and during this time the Conclave had sole responsibility for running the nation. While many expected the Conclave to announce details of mourning and potential funerals the announcement that came this evening was that a new Queen had been selected already. In a huge break from tradition the 22 year old Emissary to Ardia, Nataliya Kozel, was selected. When Queen Klara was selected for Queen the then Lady Nataliya was considered for the position and having not been selected was given a diplomatic role with one of Lodja's biggest allies The Iwi, her duties also extended to representing Lodja throughout Ardia if the need required. The new Queen was in East Moreland visiting her friend Queen Stasya when she was informed and is currently in Northfort Palace. A representative of the Conclave stated. "The High Priestess and her advisers agreed with us that it was vital a new Queen was on the throne as soon as possible. They determined that it was clear under the circumstances that our nation finds itself in that the Goddess has the need for a stronger leader than we typically select and have, following consultation and prayer, determined that Queen Nataliya will be able to lead our nation forward."

As the news has yet to sink in across the Queendom it remains to be seen how the people will react to this break in tradition.

It had been a busy 24 hours in the Alucard.

At the Isle of the Goddess there was merely a skeleton staff of the Conclave. Gone were the days when the corridors were a hive of music, poetry and art and instead they were replaced with just a handful of Ministers, bodyguards and military advisers. It was probably for the best as when news came that Queen Klara's body and those of Anna Immich and two members of the Queen's bodyguard had been pulled from the rubble of Noginsk. A further 28 people were helped out and in hospital with injuries ranging from minor cuts and brusies to those critically ill. Crown Princess Roksana wept when she heard the news, as would be expected if you found out that your wife had been killed but in truth Klara hadn't been the woman she'd married for a good year by now. The tears though were more for her friend Anna, an unexpected casualty. All the reports they'd got said that Anna wasn't in that part of the residence and the missile shouldn't have damaged the wider Palace however for some reason that routine had changed and now as a result so must Roksana's plan.

For Leopold the news also brought in an interesting turn of events. With Lodja not having an heriditary monarchy it effectively meant any claim to power he had as Klara's husband was gone. He was now only permitted by law to call himself King with the permission of the new Queen and clearly that wouldn't now be coming. His last hope at clinging to power was one of two things. The first was that his loyalists could hold Zhoyan and from there he could carve out a Kingdom for himself, the second option was some kind of uprising across the Queendom could be caused but while he'd seen some good support initially it was no fizzing out as the government seemed to have all but locked down some areas. With this in mind he had covertly called for all possible ships to head towards Zhoya. While the HMDS Morelander would stay behind a screen of ships that the Lodjains believed had been part of the search for the missing vessel those ships would in fact be tasked with clearing a path to the Island for the Marines onboard the Morelander to land and reinfroce the islands garrison.

When the news had time to sink in the Conclave meet along with the three leading Priestesses, Alla Kohan was the High Priestess, and then Arina Maksimov and Maria Shvets who were considered the next most influential. It was Besarian who spoke after they had observed a moment or two of silence for those who had died. "Ladies" he began addressing the three holy ladies. "We are in a difficult situation. We've never had a scenario where we have a King claiming authority while the nation has no Queen. While I understand that previously you've taken weeks to reach a decision on who should be the new Queen but we've then had the liberty of calm and peace. We're seeing a civil war take place out on Zhoya and I think the sooner we get a new Queen the sooner the nation can be unified."

"We already have a list of candidates" It was Arina who spoke but Alla didn't step in. They'd been discussing the matter on and off since the first attack on the Queen and as the situation had slowly begun to get complex. It had been Arina who had pushed for certain changes from tradition, just as she'd discussed with Roksana.

"Its a rather controversal list none of them are 18. A time of crisis requires a stronger, more mature head" Alla began. "First we have Princess Anfisa she's the great grand-daughter of Queen Sonya and has represented us in several events across Mundus. Then we have Natalya Kozel she narrowly missed out on being Queen when Klara was selected and she's served as a Royal Emissary in the Iwi since. If we could convince Stasya Pelagiya to convert back to Sessifet then she too would be a good candidate as she would further cement the Morelander support for the Crown, however I think she is very unlikely to do this. Our final option is you Roksana." The Crown Princess had already discussed with Arina why this would be impossible.

"I can't" Roksana began to protest.

Arina picked her words carefully. "The situation has become very complex now." She hoped Roksana understood. "Having someone with experience and knowledge of government would be useful....now more than ever." Alla nodded her agreement.

Roksana protested in her own mind she couldn't accept this. She had been responsible for the killing of one of her friends and her wife. While she was certain what she had done was for the betterment of the country it was still something that morally she couldn't accept a monarch having done. The debate raged for a good few hours until the decision was made.

It was rather fortunate that she was visiting her friend Stasya in Northfort when the news came. It was brought by a member of the Ambassador to East Moreland who was accompanied by two members of the East Moreland military. "My Lady" the man gave a nod of respect for her noble title. "It is my sad duty to confirm the death of Queen Klara." It was no real announcement as the news had been circulating around the Palace for hours, they'd even been speculating on the news while watching Prince Lewellyn squirm around on his floor mat. "The Conclave therefore would like to offer you the Crown." She sat in silence as Stasya squeezed her hand tightly. It was a bolt out of the blue and a complete break with tradition. She nodded and the man took that to indicate she accepted. "In that case allow me be the first to pledge my loyalty to Queen Natalya" Stasya hugged the now weeping Natalya unsure whether it was sadness or joy , probably shock that was making her friend blub.

The two Morelander soldiers looked at each other wondering what they should so and determined a quick bow was perhaps the best cause of action. They then relayed the decision their Commanding Officer who in turn spread the word through the East Moreland chain of command. It seemed they now had a Queen for tea.
