We thank you and your nation for your concerns at this difficult time, rest assured this is not a situation we went looking for but now we must prepare to defend ourselves.

In regards to the 143 members of the Iwi's submarine crew I would like to inform you that it is highly likely charges against the Naval ratings will be dropped, after all they are merely pawns in the games of their monarch. This however is not mercy we can extend to the officers, it is the duty of every military officer to refuse unlawful orders, therefore the 18 officers of the submarine must face trial for their actions. We would be willing to release into your custody the 125 crewman that will not face charges should our prosecutors office agree with the King's suggestions. This would mean we would not have to interact with the Iwi.

To date Royal Seleucid have taken no action against the Iwi save protecting our territorial integrity. This is something we hope shall continue but is reliant on the Maori's restraint. A wounded animal can only endure so much before it strikes back and we are nearing our limit following false accusations, one attack and a further attempted one.

We hope this has done much to alieviate your fears.

Our nation has no knowledge of how this disease has emerged, any connections to ourself is purely historic from a time long before the current regime. As such it is more than likely the illness remained dormant in places within the Iwi only emerging by chance. We apologise for the harm this may have caused your nation but at the time this disease was experimented on we were breaking no treaty. We destroyed all samples under our control and all were accounted for.
