Soleimani Space Program

(Commonwealth Astronautic Research and Development Association/CARDA)

The Soleimani Space Program was established through a Grand Order by Darius Kazem in September 8th 2006. It is currently involved in researching and developing technology for manned rockets, satellite technology and station capsules. Soleimani has sent in total 26 citizens of the Commonwealth into space, through multiple orbital missions. Soleimani is currently researching technology to build orbital space capsules for a theoretical space station. This research was initiated by Ronan Minstra early on in his first term. Whether or not Soleimani intends to utilize the developments to construct a space station is as of yet unknown. Soleimani has sent seventeen artificial satellites into Mundus orbit with sixteen of them currently operational. Of the active satellites, 7 of them are communications satellites, 4 are remote sensing satellites, 2 are navigation satellites and 3 are reconnaissance satellites. Ronan Minstra has spoken about allowing Soleimani-based private companies such as Tourmeflight and Carinder to become involved in the space program.

Colt Turner initiated research for a killer satellite which would be able to intercept and destroy long range missiles. However, after Ronan Minstra signed the Outer Space Standards Convention, the project was put on hold. Ronan Minstra has spoken about allowing SoleiForce to develop the satellite if the project would be resumed, but it’s currently not likely.

One of CARDA’s biggest projects is the Vodata Unmanned Lunar Lander, which is near its final stages of development. The Vodata lunar lander is expected to lay the foundation for Soleimani to send citizens of the commonwealth to the moon.

A new rocket is under development to replace the current Matro rockets. The new rocket will be able to take astronauts into orbit faster and far more efficiently than the current Matro rocket as well create more momentum and allow the spacecraft its carrying to remain in orbit for longer. The rocket is intended to be at least partially reusable. Both Tourmeflight and Carinder may possibly get involved in the development of the rocket.

Soleimani launches its rockets from the Darius Kazem Space Center in the Southeastern province.

For Your Eyes Only

To Mr. Bemba,
I am certain that at this point, you are well aware of our involvement in supporting your armed forces. At the current moment, we are sending a fleet of our most powerful ships to aid you troops in securing the coastline. However, we certainly hope the Council of Albion will be able to find a peaceful solution, but in the likely case they don’t, we must take military action. The reason I have sent you this letter is to ask you for permission to land five of my P-4 Maritime Patrol Aircraft in the inland NLA territories around Katamba. I’ll need a specified airfield and I’ll need it to be prepared with the necessary refueling equipment. The aircraft will be essential in ensuring the success of the so-called “Liberation Operation”. None of this is public knowledge. I will give more details on the plans on how to utilize the aircraft later, but I’ll simply need to have the arrangements made if it’s possible.

Sincerely,
     Jackson Kazakhi,
Secretary of Defense of the Commonwealth of Soleimani

Executive Minstra Criticizes Soleimani SoFA for “Propaganda-like Statements”

Executive Minstra spoke out in opposition to the statements recently made at the Press Office by Soleimani’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Vin Meehan. He spoke out today:
Quote
What was said by Vin Meehan should not be taken seriously. This man is no longer interested in informing the public in an unbiased manner. He is trying to paint the Council of Albion as an organization with no form or stature. I for one know that the Council is the very opposite of that. This man is violating the very constitution from which this great Commonwealth was born out of, and is using utterly unacceptable authoritarian techniques to make propaganda-like statements which are misleading the public. The people of this commonwealth deserve the truth, especially from a high profile member of our government. I will have a stern private talk with him tonight.

This statement came after the Vin Meehan made multiple statements for the press that are painting the council of Albion and its members in what appears to be a biased and unfair light. Senator Gina Parzona also spoke out, calling the statements “outrageous rhetoric”. Vin Meehan has not apologized for his statements as of yet.

Soleimani Secretary of Foreign Affairs:

Lately, we have seen many nations in and around Albion begin sending reinforcements to the area surrounding Merina’s waters to prepare for any possible operation by Soleimani. Might I remind you, we have stated that we are not taking action if the Council of Albion finds a solution. Therefore there is no reason to worry, unless the members of the Council don’t have faith in their own ability to find a solution. In that case, I’d like to point out what this shows about the Council of Albion. The Council of Albion, despite refusing to allow Soleimani and Fleur to support the Liberation faction, don’t even believe in their own ability to find a peaceful solution, and are therefore already preparing for Soleimani’s military action as if they know it’ll happen. We find this to show the weaknesses behind the degrading Council. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Commonwealth, please, do not feel that you are on the wrong side here, the other side quite frankly has no clue what they’re doing.

To Monsieur Vasilly,

We thank you for being able to make accommodations for us. As we have previously publicly stated we will withhold military action until the talks in the Council of Albion have concluded. Nevertheless, our ships are already on their way and expected to arrive in less than one week’s time. However, there will need to be some changes to accommodate for another much larger ship. Wednesday morning, the government of Soleimani agreed with Executive Cruises to temporarily refit one of their older and smaller ships for military use. This ship will carry more than twice as many troops as our Amphibious Transport Ships combined, as well as many more tanks, Missile systems and other vehicles. Hopefully, if we must use this additional force, it’ll be enough to at least temporarily overpower government forces. Until then, we look forward to waiting to see how the talks go.

Sincerely,
Secretary of Defense of Soleimani, Kazra Tir

A Statement made by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs:

The Commonwealth of Soleimani condemns the Empire of Rokkenjima for their blatant attempt to prevent the Principality of Heyra from enforcing Merina’s sovereignty. Rokkenjima is supporting the Council of Albion’s violation of Merina’s sovereignty by preventing the passage of military equipment through Merina’s own waters. The Liberation faction of Merina allowed military support to be sent and so it shall be rightfully allowed to pass through Merina without intervention from the nations of the Council of Albion. The Council of Albion, by taking these fascist actions, are silencing the voices of the oppressed.

The Commonwealth of Soleimani also acknowledges Aosta’s threatening press office announcement which openly states that Aosta, a signatory if the Uppsala Convention, is willing to disregard the very convention to in the Commonwealth’s eyes unlawfully take in Fleuroix prisoners. What goes on between Fleur and Merina is solely between those two nations and Aosta must not utilize violence as a first option to intervene. Soleimani is hereby imposing both diplomatic and economic sanctions on Aosta

Like we have stated before, the Commonwealth and Fleur are simply trying to swiftly and safely ensure a victory for the Liberation Army with minimal casualties. While we will see what happens during the negotiations between the Council of Albion and the Merinan factions, we find it incredibly unlikely that they will succeed in persuading the Merinan government to free Merina’s people of their unjust and brutal dictatorship.

A Statement by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs:

Following Fleur’s announcement on their stance on the Merinan situation, Soleimani has chosen to proceed with sending ships to Fleur, but will not send them to Merina yet, and will return the ships to Soleimani if the Council of Albion chooses to listen to Fleur and find a solution that suits the Liberation Army’s needs. If the council of Albion is unsuccessful in their attempt to find peace, Soleimani will proceed with sending military support to Merina.

The Information Shared in This Letter is to Remain Strictly Confidential

To Monsieur Charles Jacques Henri Vassilly of Fleur,

As you have most likely heard, Soleimani is planning to send military support to Merina to back the Liberation Army. We’re planning to send a fleet of ships to Merina to deploy troops, vehicles and helicopters to attempt to secure part of the coastline for the Liberation Army. We’ll need to station our ships somewhere close to Merina so that we can quickly and easily send our troops there. I was wondering if you would be willing to allow us to temporarily station our ships in Fleur so we can refuel and take care of our troops. The fleet will consist of one Nautilus class Amphibious transport ship, one Cuttlefish class, three Bobtail class destroyers, five squid class destroyers and three octopus class submarines. If you could make the accommodations for our ships that would be great. We have not yet planned the exact time and date at which we start the operation, but it will be soon.

Sincerely,
The Secretary of Defense of Soleimani

Soleimani Secretary of Foreign Affairs today addressing the Merinan Situation:

Ladies and gentlemen, after today’s vote which led to a 6-5 vote in the High Council for military action, we are now preparing to send military support in the form of weaponry and troops to the Liberation Army in Merina against the wishes of the Council of Albion. Soleimani as a nation feels that by forcing a ceasefire, the council of Albion is suppressing the voices of the people, who want a free and just democracy for Merina. We won’t allow this. We are well aware of the current people in charge and their unwillingness to negotiate a compromise. There is no other option as a ceasefire will only benefit those who are at the advantage, the dictators. While diplomats are wasting time trying to find a peaceful solution, lives are being continuously lost in the war. We will put an end to this once and for all, and ensure a quick victory for the liberation army.

Along with Fleur, we will send military support for the Liberation Army and help establish its sovereignty to make a better nation for all. Just like Fleur, we recognize many flaws in the army’s current vision for the future of Merina, which we hope to seed out. We do not fear economic sanctions from nations of Albion. We are not dependent on their trade. We are supporting the best cause for Merina as it stands. Despite this, we encourage nations of Albion to resist sanctions on Soleimani for these actions. We will have officers give further training to those in the Liberation Army. Modern military tactics will hopefully help reduce casualties in the civil war. Soleimani is doing this to encouarage other nations from across Mundus who support justice and freedom to join us in supporting this faction of Merina so that we can swiftly and easily secure a better future for the region. Hopefully, when the dust settles, a fair and righteous democracy will stand where the greedy dictatorship once stood.

Soleimani Sending Military Support to Merina

After heated debates over whether or not Soleimani should take military action to defend Merina’s Liberation Faction, the votes are in. The Lower Council narrowly voted for military engagement, with a 218-179 total. The High Council voted for with a 6-5 total, with Executive Minstra voting against military action. Executive Minstra has repeatedly spoken out against military action, saying that it shouldn’t be the first action, and that Soleimani should give the Council of Albion a chance, however he says that if Soleimani is backing a faction, he’s glad it’s the Liberation Army. Amongst the parties in the lower council, the Laissez-Faire party largely voted against due to their fears that military action may lead to sanctions from Albion nations. The Leftists largely voted no, conservative mostly voted yes, Centrist-Liberals mostly voted Yes, Independent and Traditionalists mostly voted yes but were more even, and Green Party members all voted against with the exception of one member. Council members say they are already preparing for troops and military equipment to be sent to Merina to further assist in training members of the Liberation Army. The vote has only widened the divide in the nation, with numerous protests by southern-based leftists against military action taking place. Many northern senators oppose the actions due to the fact that it may provoke Tamora, whom Soleimani has been trying to build diplomatic relations with. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs is expected to make an official statement later today on the situation.

Soleimani Possibly Getting Involved in Merinan Civil War

Some members of the high council have recently shown interest in supporting the Liberation Army faction of Merina throughout the civil war in that region. The High Council brought the proposition up officially for voting. The vote will take place tomorrow. We'll have updates on the outcome then. Despite this, Executive Senator Ronan Minstra has shown opposition to the proposal, and has said that "There are more peaceful ways to go about the situation in Merina". He is most likely voting no tomorrow, which will right off the bat give the opposing side three votes out of the six needed to reject the proposal. However, the lower council has shown more interest in the idea. If Soleimani does choose to send support to the Liberation Army, then they will be the second nation to do so, after Fleur recently did the same, despite the Council of Albion pushing for a ceasefire. With all this firepower on their side, one will most likely expect a noticeable shift in the direction of the Civil War.

Ubriekkland-Soleimani Summit Complete

Last night a historical summit took place in Tehrestan between the Senator Minstra and the High Lord of Ubriekkland, Perceval Martialis Jundt. Multiple representatives from both nations were also there. During the summit, the two discussed a number of issues, including border protection, maritime patrol and student exchange programs. The summit was set as a foundation for formal relations with Ubriekkland. Afterwards, Executive Senator Ronan Minstra spoke about the summit, saying: “I very much enjoyed my time with the High Lord. He and his fellow representatives were excellent diplomats and I must compliment them on their eloquence and eagerness to find common ground between our two nations. I really look forward to working with Ubriekkland in the future, and I believe that there are so many more possibilities that this alliance could bring. Hopefully, we will have another meeting at some point where we would be able to further our relations and formalize the alliance with a written treaty, but for now, we’ll be working alongside each other and will be offering military, educational and technological assistance to each other.”

Plans have also been revealed to construct a SSCARA speedway in Ubriekkland. This is the first time in the history of SSCARA where the series will be going Multi-National. Further details are expected to be released soon, including when the track will be finished, specifically where it will be built, etc.

Historic Landmarks and Buildings in the Commonwealth

Tower Point Castle Ruins
The ruins of the Monarch’s castle, located in modern day Selestan, is what’s left of the once majestic old Monarch’s castle, which was largely destroyed during the Grand Revolution in the late sixties and early seventies. Part of it still stands today as a reminder of how brutal the revolution really was.

St. Lionel’s Cathedral
One of the only major Christian sites of worship in Soleimani, this historic cathedral of magnificent proportion is located in the historic town of Sturbridge, in the Province of Kennebunkport.

Mosque of Mahradin(مسجد مهردین)
The historic Mosque of Mahradin, built under the rule of the Monarch of the same name, has been a cultural site of worship and tourism for many years, located deep in the southern regions of the Commonwealth.

Mosque of Maleki
Located in the heart of Tehrestan, this beautiful and color fully designed mosque is praised for its unique architectural style and is visited by many orthodox Muslims, it’s dome is often visible above the surrounding buildings in the skyline.

Cilladi’s Mosque
An icon of Soleimani, this massive complex is located right next to Lake Escurion, and is one of the most well known sites in the entire nation. Visited by millions of tourists every year, it can even be seen on the official seal of the Soleimani Deparment of the Interior, as well as the Cultural and Historic Protection Subsidiary of the DOI. It is designated as one of the most vital and well protected cultural sites, and controversial legislation was passed that made any attack on the mosque by any nation an act of war, and would lead to mass retaliation.

Sweet Caroline
Written by Neil Diamond, 1974
In celebration of the new age of Soleimani after the revolution, as well as a tribute to Caroline Jazani, daughter of the first Executive of Soleimani.

First Verse
Where it began, I can't begin to knowing
But then I know it's growing strong
Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believed you'd come along

Pre-Chorus
Hands, touching hands
Reaching out, touching me, touching you

Chorus
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would

Second Verse
But now I
Look at the night and it don't seem so lonely
We filled it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when holding you

Pre-Chorus
One, touching one
Reaching out, touching me, touching you

Chorus
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I've been inclined
To believe they never would
Oh no, no

Outro
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
Sweet Caroline
I believe they never could
Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good

Note: It is a common tradition for citizens to add an enthusiastic BUM BUM BUM after the words “Sweet Caroline”, as well as repeating the line “So Good” after the “Good times never felt so good” section.

Executive Plans Multiple Wildlife Reserves

Yesterday Executive Senator Ronan Minstra took action against the increasing endangerment of natural ecosystems in Soleimani, particularly the Western and Southern region. The Executive and other High Council members say they plan to create multiple nature reserves and national parks to protect to plants and animals that are in jeopardy. The Nayban Rainforest, which covers a large portion of western Soleimani, is currently in danger due to the expansion of agriculture into the area. The unique creatures in the pockets of semi-arid landscapes across Soleimani are also becoming threatened. A large part of the Nayban rainforest will become a federally protected nature reserve, as will the Jaron Plains. Several national parks will be opened to allow citizens of the Commonwealth to explore its nature, and several efforts to rescue and rehabilitate lost animals are also to be put into effect. Several new research and care wildlife camps will be constructed. Hopefully, these efforts will save certain species, such as the well-known Western Soleimani monkey, from extinction.

Executive Minstra:
The Senator was very glad that the High Lord has brought up the topic of expanding past military relations.
“Well, I myself was interested in discussing topics beyond military. I am incredibly glad that you brought this up. I for one completely agree with the idea improving our current student exchange program. By sponsoring more frequent exchange trips we can build a stronger understanding of each other’s cultures. This I’m sure will also create the opportunity for our young and aspiring college students to work together, hence improving our citizen’s relationship between our two nations. I see so many positives to that. I’m sure we could invest in more frequent exchange trips. As for the SSCARA circuit, I am incredibly excited to allow SSCARA to go multi-national. I can imagine this will improve your local economy through ticket revenue, as well as improve the SSCARA brand by introducing a whole new region to the series. I absolutely think we can further discuss the SSCARA circuit in further detail later on, hopefully with the emperor as well.”

Well, Sir Jundt, those are all the talking points I had intended to get to. Unless you have any other suggestions, I believe it is time we make things official. We can have dinner, and then afterwards cooperatively with our represent work on a short-term treaty which our respective governments can then modify to make it official.

phew, that’s a mouthful

Early morning on May 12, 2020, Executive Senator of Soleimani Ronan Minstra passes two grand orders directed towards assisting southern-based companies after said companies have been enduring economic turmoil recently. The grand orders have lowered overnight rates for southern banks in Soleimani, which is intended to cause southern banks to invest more in companies, especially southern companies which they are familiar with, which will hopefully improve the state of the southern economy in general. The orders also are giving tax rebates to employees of certain southern companies which have been impacted by the recent economic instability. This will hopefully lessen the chances that employees ask for raises, reducing the amount of financial pressure out on southern companies, and will also hopefully cause the employees to invest their rebate money into the market, specifically the companies they work for.

Executive Passes Two Grand Orders Focused on Reviving Southern Economy

Executive Senator Minstra took initiative today to resolve the recent economic crisis that has hit the southern region of Soleimani after stock investors withdrew from their investments into the companies due to a growing rift between the north and the south. The Executive immediately tried to remedy the economy and passed two grand orders, with another possible grand order coming if the economic instability persists. Today, Executive Minstra spoke out on the situation, saying:
Quote
We can’t simply afford to wait and take action. While I fully believe in a free market, this economic instability could only worsen the situation between the north and the south, and it could turn into a full fledged recession for the south, which would cause a serious imbalance in power between the south and north. This situation was different than most economic slides. This time, it was targeted towards a specific group of people. We simply can’t allow that.

When we asked him what his plan was for dealing with the tensions between the north and south, he simply said, “We have a plan to hopefully reconnect the two sides very soon.”

The two Grand Orders passed will temporarily lower overnight rates in southern banks, which hopefully will make the banks more likely to invest in companies, especially companies in the south due to the fact that the targeted banks will all be located in the south. This will hopefully lead to better stock futures for the southern companies. In addition to that, the other grand order is giving all employees of southern companies which are suffering from said economic crisis tax rebates. For one, the rebates will hopefully make up for the money that the companies were unable to pay to their workers, but will also make it more likely that the employees will invest their rebates in the market, especially into the companies which they are working for.
