PHILLIPS EXECUTION DOES NOT GO TO PLAN
The convicted war criminal and mass murderer Lt.Col Phillips, a former special forces soldier in the Hassop occupation force, was yesterday executed for his crimes, however the execution didn't go according to plan. Originally the 65 year old had been sentenced to an Utu punishment of drinking a lethal cocktail of three chemicals. The King however used his power of being able to commute sentences to change it from being forced to drink the drugs to a more ordeally lethal injection. At midday the prisoner was lead into a specially prepared room and strapped to a hospital bed. Witnesses to the execution explained that it took four soldiers to get the man strapped down and even then he was thrashing around. A doctor then inserted an intravenous line and administered three drugs one after the other. The first drug was often used for anesthesia induction and for medically induced coma, this seemed to make the convict exceptionally still. Soon after the second drug, which causes the Paralysis of respiratory muscle was introduced and a visible change in breathing was seen. The final drug was designed to stop the electrical conduction of heart muscle. Before the execution took place witnesses were told the whole process would take less than 15 minutes.
Speaking to eye witnesses however explained that 45 minutes after the drugs were administered Phillips was seen pulling against the restraints as he gasped for air. One eye witness also explained that as doctor gathered around him he was heard swearing at them as a kind of white froth formed at his mouth, it took a further twenty minutes before he was pronounced dead.
Following the execution Phillips body was taken by boat some 25 miles out from shore and dumped at sea. The King witnessed the execution and afterwards spoke to the media saying. "Justice has been done, a man who committed unspeakable acts of cruelty to our people has meet his fate. Some may perhaps say it was karma that the man died in this manner. His body has now been given to the ocean so it shall not contaminate our Commonwealth. We now stand determined to bring other Hassopite criminals to justice."
This is the second execution of a Hassopite war criminal, the other being Stephen Butler who the King personally clubbed to death before his body was left for the tide.

IWI SOLDIERS TO BEGIN RETURN FROM ALAND
Following several months of aid operations in the Nya Aland city of Uppsala the 2,000 Maori troops are to begin returning home. The announcement came from King Piripi who welcomed home a group of five soldiers who had been injured in a fire at a refugee camp. The King said, "This has been the first overseas deployment of our nations soldiers, while I don't want it to become a regular occurence I am proud of their work. They have stepped up and shone as great examples of our nations willingness to support others. We will continue to support the Alanders if required but with the chemical cloud situation over and the situation stabalising it is time for aid agencies and not combat troops to take control. We will be looking now at putting together a contingent of medical, construction and educational experts to go and support the process in Uppsala."
The nations soldiers are to be welcomed back with a parade in a months time when the majority of soldiers will have returned home. Two members of the Army lost their lives in Uppsala following infections after being exposed to the chemical cloud. The King has announced that these men will be brought home with the first wave and buried at the "Heroes Cemetery" where many of the men and women who died fighting against Hassop are buried.

TAMATI WAIMARIE NAMED FIRST AMBASSADOR TO UTMEN
Following a declaration by the Utmen ethnic group the Commonwealth will be opening an embassy there, thought to be the first one by a sovereign nation. King Piripi named the son of the Tainui Iwi's chief as the first Ambassador to Utmen. 40 year old Tamati Waimarie was selected for the role because of his work within King Piripi's advisors and his time spent in the military during the Commonwealths battle for independence from Hassop. There have been violent clashes in the region the Utmen have claimed and therefore it is likely he will not take a large staff with him. King Piripi explained the decision, "We've seen a determined effort over time by the Utmen to gain independence, there must be some kind of diplomatic solution, no ethnic group must be kept as an underclass within their own territory, we experienced that ourselves and freed ourselves, we tried diplomacy but had no choice but to turn to war. It is my hope that by supporting the Utmen in a way no one supported us we can bring Lakhozovia to the negotiating table and find a mutually acceptable agreement giving the Utmen the freedoms they deserve while respecting Lakhozovia. We shall do all we can to try and help people in a similar situation to ourselves shake off their shackels, as much as possible without bloodshed."
It is expected that Tamati will arrive in the Utmen territory in the next 24 hours saying "I am excited to get down to work. We wish this embassy to work just like any other across the globe. As such my first point of order will be to begin integrating ourselves into our local community. I know first hand what the Utmen face and I hope we can help them realise their dreams of freedom."

KING SIGNS "IMPERALISM RE-DISTRIBUTION ACT"
For several days the "Imperialism Re-distribution Act" has been debated in the Tribal Council, yesterday it passed by 9 votes to 1 among Iwi Chiefs, and within six hours the King signed it into law. The proposal for such an act has existed for about twenty years however has always failed to be drafted in a coherent way, however with the work of The Otikoro Muhali Foundation[1] in indentifying connections to the Hassopite occupation the Act has finally been possible. The Foundation, which started in 1990 by businessman Otikoro Muhali whose family were murdered in the Harris Bay Jail massace in 1982, has been recording the family histories of as many Hassopites based in The Iwi including property grants and purchases. The investigation identified close to 2,000,000 residents of the Commonwealth who are descended from the Hassopite settlers.
The act will aim to take land acquired by families during the occupation and redistribute it amongst the various tribes. The Act will take away the property of anyone who is a direct descendant of an occupier, this property will be granted to the nearest Iwi based on their Chief's place of residence. Any descendent who is living in property purchased since 1984 will not be effected so long as they can show a legally acquired deed to the property. Furthermore any property belonging to a descendent, either acquired prior to 1984 or after, is liable to be searched by members of the governments Maori Heritage Organisation and any authentic Maori artefacts are to be seized and returned to the relevant Iwi as far as possible. Finally the act established the Iwi Claims Commisssion (ICC) which will hear cases brought about by The Iwi's to determine whether property, mainly farms, took land originally granted to tribes. If so the ICC has the power to either return it or charge the holder reparations.
The move gained strong support from Otikoro Muhali who said, "We have seen our Commonweath raped for its wealth and land, a non-native group sought to deny us what is our land and our homes and by that process feather there own beds. This is a landmark moment, it shows that a native group can get back what was taken from them and put right the gross injustices they have faced." It is likely that around 100,000 homes will be taken into possession of the various Iwi in coming days and Tipene Tama, the leader of the Ngāti Rongomaiwahine Iwi which spent longest under occupation, believes this is a positive, "For a long time on the edges of our land we've had non-Maori living there, while we've never sought to oust them they are not part of our community, have made no efforts to and have large areas of land on their estate that are not utilised, we now will be getting access to this and can build facilities for our villages, establish bigger commercial farms and other projects to help our people lead a better life."
However not all support the act, the Te Whakatohea Iwi voted against the act with their chief Petera Rangi saying, "We have made great efforts to bring those non-Maori into our communities, we have a significant number of naturalised Maori whom will now find their homes under threat, if they are within our areas they have nothing to fear, however I worry for those outside our Iwi's sphere, this will put greater stress on our resources as we seek to support our brothers and sisters. We also must think that many of these people have no connection with Hassop, or even Mercia today, it is right and just we punish the criminals, not their grandchildren."
The Otikoro Muhali Foundation says however this is not the end of their work, the founder explained, "There are still a significant number of people who committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in our Commonwealth's territory, these will be found and brought to justice, our King has shown the commitment to that. We must realise however that Hassop will have had help and allies from other nations, just because it was not their flag flying above the capital does not mean they will get away with it. If you are an Imperialist who benefited from our misery we will find you and you will face the consequences." One such person is likely to be John Maddison, the 78 year property developer who lives in a 400 acre estate. The Cennegs citizen's family were granted the property in 1906 for providing naval supplies to the Hassop regime, his grandfather being named Earl Maddison of Peirbright. The Otikoro Muhali Foundation are now investigating the land registry details to see whether this property could be seized under the new law.

CNV RANGLORA FIRED AT BY MERCIAN FISHING VESSEL
The CNV Ranglora, a Moutere Class Patrol Vessel, has been fired upon with small arms by a Mercian fishing vessel. The incident took place some 250km East of the Andean Peninsular as the CNV Ranglora sought to obtain the identity of the Mercian flagged vessel, one of the ships crew described the scene saying. "It is routine these days that we record and observe any Mercian ship near our waters, as such we had attempted to make contact but were ignored, as we attempted to sail around them, about half a mile away we heard the sound of rounds impacting the ships hull. As such we took cover and moved a little further away. We could then see muzzle flashes and as such our captain permitted us to put warning shots across their bow, something that we did and that seemed to work." The vessel was then monitored for six hours until it turned North and headed back towards the southern coast of Aranye.
A spokesman for the Navy said, "We shouldn't be surprised by this, the Mercians seem unable to abide by international laws, first not co-operating with bringing war criminals to justice, and then their fisherman firing at boats simply taking photos in international water." In recent months the nations have clashed as The Iwi has sought to bring to justice several hundreds people accused of being members of the Hassop regime which occupied the Iwi for close to two centuries.

CNV ARAWA ARRIVES AT ILLUMIC COMMAND
The Commonwealth's aircraft carrier, the Arawa, a captured Hassopite vessel, has today arrived in East Moreland. The vessel will be docking at the CNN allies Illumic Command base as part of a contingency should the Utmen Embassy be attacked in a similar manner to the Rokkenjiman one. The embassy is the first one to be established in the newly independent Utmen Republic and as such considered "High Risk" in respect of the ongoing clashes there that have seen an incident at a chemical plant where reports suggest either an industrial accident or a stray bomb.
Speaking about the deployment a naval spokesman said, "The vessel is there merely as a stand by, it will work alongside an East Moreland vessel as a way of cementing co-operation between our two nations, we have offered the vessel for help with anti-piracy duties however it is believed the ship will only take part in maneuvers and meanwhile stay in dock. The naval spokesman said, "The Morelanders have been very accommodating, we know several nations have poked their nose into the Illumic aggressively, we are not like that and realize we are guests, as such we'll be on our best behavior, but at least we are prepared for every eventuality." It is also understood the crew of the Arawa have already challenged the East Moreland Navy to a rugby game, the Morelanders response is not yet known.

MATILDA "MEGAPORT" OPENS
Completed with funds provided by an East Moreland consortium and the Mundus Development Bank the Matilda Megaport today welcomed its first vessel. The new commercial port located on the North coast of the Commonwealth will be capable of handling 70 million tonnes of cargo annually making it one of the largest in the region. . The port cost around $4billion, with $2billion having been provided by the Mundus Development Bank, $1billion from the Commonwealth budget and $1billion from foreign investment, mainly from an East Moreland based consortium of businesses. The project will be co-owned by The MDB until the loan is paid back, a period thought to be around 10 years once opened, should everything go to plan.
The port was opened by King Piripi who welcomed the first vessel to dock, a Lodjain gas tanker, personally presenting the crew with a symbolic fern leaf head-dress. The King spoke with the media saying, "The Matilda's are a vital shipping route and this new port offers those landing here a new route into Ardia and after seeing the Northern channel closed last year at least people will know that we have our ports open for business and willing to trade." The port is also thought to have created an addition 2,000 jobs in the local community.

UC CARRIER TO VISIT COMMONWEALTH
Following a statement from Lakhozvia that they intend to put missiles into Samsarah capable of striking targets within the Iwi our nations CNN allies have quickly offered support. In the coming days a fleet, including the aircraft carrier Corpre will take station alongside forces of the Commonwealth. The 11 vessel fleet includes three ships with ballistic missile defence systems which will provide a layer of cover for the Commonwealth should our nation be targeted by such weapons. In addition the fleet will come via East Moreland which will loan the nation a Jekars Spear interception system. King Piripi announced that he was "thankful to our two allies for providing reassurance to the Commonwealth."
Shortly after Rokkenjima offered to "open lines of communication" regarding regional security. The King responded to this by saying, "The Commonwealth has always had lines of communication to all nations opened, we never turn anyone away. We have great support from our allies already and would be willing to consider other measures." The Ministry of Defence later in the day suggested that the nations aging Moana Aircraft will be getting upgrades provided by EMAC in the coming months. A spokesman saying, "The Iwi forces are battle tested and well committed to the cause of defending the Commonwealth, we now will ensure they have the tools to be able to do that more effectively."

ARMY TO GET EQUIPMENT BOOST
It was announced today by King Piripi that there will be "a significant procurement" in the coming weeks. The army has not purchased a new combat vehicle since becoming fully independent in 2001 however the nations aging tank fleet has been upgraded as recently as two years ago. The King explained the decision saying, "We have seen our nation given veiled threats over the last few weeks because of our stance in supporting the oppressed minorities, much as how we wish the world would have supported us. As such we now need to make sure our military is capable of ensuring our nations continued readiness to defend ourselves and to enable this there must be a signiciant procurement in key areas."
Military experts believe the nations aging Kaiwero Tanks are likely to be replaced gradually while the Puru Infantry Fighting Vehicle is likely to be a more vital replacement. It is expected that the decisions on what to buy will be made in the coming weeks and if not native in design likely to be manufactured in the nation.

SURVEY SAYS SELEUCID DESCENDANTS FACE DISCRIMINATION
A recent survey by the National Office of Statistics has discovered that citizens of Seleucid descent face racism and discrimination that severely affects their life chances. Some 2.5million of the nations population are of Seleucid descent, while a further 2 million are of mixed ancestry. Many of these people stayed after the defeat of the Seleucid forces occupying the nation in 2001, some having attempted to integrate into Iwi society. The survey found the following.
- 82% of Seleucid's under the age of 18 experience bullying at school
- Seleucid citizens are five times more likely to be unemployed
- Seleucid citizens are six times more likely to be stopped by police
- Less than 1% of the military are of Seleucid descent
- Only 10% of Seleucid applications to join Iwi's are accepted
The survey however did find that the average Seleucid is worth around $65,000 a year compared to $26,400 for Maori. This was explained by the fact that most of the Seleucid who stayed behind had extensive business dealings both back home in their Royal Seleucid homeland and here in the Iwi. The National Office of Statistics stated, "The study is rather eye opening, being Seleucid brings both advantage and disadvantage. It is necessary to bring the rest of the nation up to their level of prosperity while also reducing the issues." So far no official statement has been released from the government.

BILLY ROTUNGA TO TEST WATERS IN EAST MORELAND
Hunter's Bay Winger and Commonwealth international Billy Rotunga is set to leave the club he has spent 20 years at in order to join the Northfort Blues. The 27 year old was part of the team that reached the World Cup final and finished runners up, and has won six league titles with The Bay. He informed his fans via his instagram saying. "Been a fun couple of decades but off to test some new waters. I'll be back." Despite having signed for the club just moments earlier the player added, "Hunter's Bay is always going to be my home but a chance to play with the World Champions of the Blues is a test that can't be turned down."
The player thanked the coaches and fellow players at The Bay who gave him a traditional send off as he arrived to clear out his locker. It is expected that Rotunga will make his debut in East Moreland in two weeks time. National Coach Sepu Kiawahi said, "Billy is a superb player and I suspect that any team in the world would want him. He'll be back in the Commonwealth soon as I have no intention of not selecting him just because of where he is living."

KING ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR SELEUCID MONARCH
King Piripi has today issued an arrest warrant for the King of Royal Seleucid, King Akakois on charges of being compliciet in war crimes against the people of The Iwi. The charges indicate that the King directly ordered the mass extermination of several Labour Camps constructed to punish members of the Iwi Resistance force. Specificially it states that King Akakois instructed army officers to execute "any Maori of fighting age who is sentenced to more than 12 months hard labour." In the days following the alleged order a total of 873 men were executed at three camps across the country. It is further alleged that the King gave permission for Maori children to be used as test subjects in a series of biological and chemical weapon tests. One of those is the alleged to have seen sixteen children aged under ten exposed to Anthrax at a prison in Manawahua. The Seleucid's took control of the Commonwealth of The Iwi's territory in in late 1500's, at the time there was no unified Maori nation, and as such the Seleucid's made inroads into Maori territory. Soon Maori people were being used as slaves and transported across Mundus or used as field slaves in The Iwi. It was only in 1817 that the Maori, under Chief Rangi Umaga began forming themselves into one people and pushed the Seleucid's out. The final few decades of the war from 1970-2000 saw extreme brutality as the Seleucid's sought to hold onto their empire.
Two members of the Seleucid military from this time period have already been executed having faced trial while many more remain on a wanted list. It is thought questioning of the two men has lead to discoveries of new evidence which means today's warrant has been issued. It is believed to be the first time an arrest warrant has been issued against a reigning monarch in modern times. Experts believe it highly unlikey that King Akakois will ever face trial, however it is hoped that various nations, including the Commonwealth's CNN allies take note of the warrant which may result in restricted the monarchs actions. King Akakois became King of Royal Seleucid in 1980 and oversaw the final withdrawal of his nations forces in 2001.

ANGER AT GOWU
The Maori Soccer Association (MSA) yesterday spoke out about the tempetous World Cup qualifier. The game saw the Iwi drawn against Royal Seleucid, a nation with whom there is a long and bloody history. The game was switched at short notice to Gowu following an appeal by the RSFA in which they sited security concerns. The RSFA stated that they believed their squad may be arrested, something MSA Head of Operations described as "ridicuolous", Jeiana Roduatok also said, "There is a very definate list of the wanted criminals that our authorities are after, this has been made very public, none of the Seleucid squad or staff are on that list. There are hundreds of Seleucid ex-pats still in our nation, I won't deny they face difficulties and are quiet often victimised, however they are not unfairly treated by the government. I am disappointed the MFA took this decision with no consultation with ourselves and on the word of the Seleucids."
The game itself was rather fiery with a high number of yellow cards and several flashpoints which possibly could have seen someone recieve a red card. The Iwi were physically the most dominant of the two sides and it was clear that the supposed home side possessed greater skills. The Iwi went 2-0 up in the first twenty minutes before Seleucid pulled one back through a volley from outside the area just before half time. The second half was just as fiery with the Iwi's double goalscorer Tana Ioene receiving a yellow card within ten seconds of the kick off. With fifteen minutes left to play the Iwi scored once more giving them a 3-1 lead after the first leg.
Team Manager, Keepa Ioane spoke in rather blunt terms following the defeat. "We knew we were up against it as soon as we saw the draw, after all for many back home the ball is the wrong shape for a start, however when MFA stack the deck against you its another thing. Had that game been at Hunter's Bay we'd have had some 80,000 passionate Maori cheering us on, instead we have a handful inside a sterile atmosphere here in Gowu there is no telling how many more we could of got. The Seleucid's have manipulated the situation in order to try and handicap us, and the MFA have fell for it. You won't find us doing the same, we will have no problem going to Ipsus and walking into the lions den, that's what real men do rather than hide behind the bureaucratic skirts of the MFA."
The second leg is due midweek and the Iwi will need to win by two clear goals to simply draw level.

ILLNESS PART OF A SELEUCID LEGACY
It was announced today that the illness currently being treated in Hunter's Bay, that has so far impacted around 200 people is caused by a strain of illness once used by the Seleucid regime as a weapon. The doctors at Hunter's Bay have begun treating patients in isolation after a young man, who has yet to be named died 48 hours ago. In the aftermath the hospital has started isolating itself and following strict guidelines about the treatment of contagious diseases. Citizens have been asked to look out for flu like symptoms and numbness in their extremities, anyone experiencing these symptoms is asked to phone the special emergency phone line set up for this purpose.
The Ministry of Health have confirmed that this illness is the same as that used on Ratunga Prison Camp, a place where the Seleucid military experimented on several thousand Maori with biological agents in an attempt to perfect their weapons programme. A range of diseases were used in experiments which saw non-combatants and even children purposely infected in order to observe the progress of the conditions. It is estimated that around 2,800 people died of illnesses ranging from Tubercolsis to the Bubonic Plague. The camp is currently a no go area as facilities there are carefully dismantled, however experts believe that there is no possible way that this illness, which has also been reported in East Moreland, could have been caused by this process.
King Piripi spoke to say, "We are currently carrying out an investigation into why this illness has suddenly appeared. What we do know is the strain of this illness is identicial to that worked on by the Seleucid during our war for independence around twenty years ago. We are yet to rule out that this is some kind of state sponsored terrorist incident but it as a line of enquiry we do need to follow and take action to protect ourselves against."

PLAGUE SAMPLES TO BE HANDED TO INDEPENDENT ANALYSIS
King Piripi has confirmed that the ongoing outbreak of bubonic plague is likely connected to Royal Seleucid. The King who has taken the steps along with the Tribal Council of closing schools, postponing sporting events and closing public beaches among other restriction, announced that he was also handing over samples to CNN nations and the CMA in order to "independently verify that we have been victims of a Seleucid biological weapon."
So far some 570 people have been confirmed as contracting the illness with 46 dead. Several hospitals throughout the Commonwealth have been designated as specialist centres and have been treating patients in special isolation wards when possible. There has also begun a programme carried out by the military of screening members of the public and disinfecting public property. Local health care centres have said that they are now "stretched thin" as people begin to panic. Doctors have also opened a specialist emergency help line for anyone who believes they display symptoms and urged those who think they are infected to have a friend pick up medication for them instead of going in person.

Following confirmation from Bretonnia (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=719.msg5573#msg5573) through the CMA that the Bubonic Plague currently effecting several nations has origins in Royal Seleucid aircraft from The Iwi. At 7am this morning the King's Royal Envoy and cousin Taika Sevasi announced the strikes.
Several hours ago aircraft from our Air-Force carried out limited strikes on Seleucid facilities used in the production of Chemical weapons. These sites were used during the occupation of the Commonwealth to produce Sarin gas which was openly used on civilians at various camps which held Maori. In addition, as these sites were in the desert, the railway connection to them was destroyed. All hits on targets were successful meaning a severe dent has been struck to the Seleucid nations ability to produce weapons of mass destruction.
The strike was neccessary to bring pressure on Seleucid to end their biological and chemical weapons programmes and having not heard of them complying with CMA requests action was needed. It is our hope this demonstration will ensure that nations apply pressure to Seleucid to conform with the CMA recommendations of allowing inspectors into their nation. The fact these sites exist mean that sanctions must be put in place to limit their production.
There has been no details about the manner in which the strikes were undertaken and whether there will be further strikes.

SPECIAL ENVOY TANE SEVASI TO PUSH FOR EXTRADITION IN EM
The cousin of King Piripi and survivor of several Seleucid concentration camps has announced it is his intention to travel to East Moreland to oversee the Commonwealth's request to have Imran Gamal extradited. The former Seleucid military officer was responsible for running a section of the infamous Watkins Bay Camp where an estimated 60,000 Maori died, many in experiments using potential chemical weapons. Tane Sevasi spent six months there as a 13 year old and has in the past told of the fact he narrowly escaped being a test subject himself. "It was one Sunday morning and they lined up all the children in the camp. A guard came up and said they needed twenty of us to voulenteer for a special job. They said that anyone who stepped forward would be given extra food. A few people stood forward but anyone who'd been here longer than a few weeks knew those selected for special jobs were often never seen again. There were rumours that they took them to other camps or there was a place beyond our compound where people had food and proper beds, we called it paradise but like we know paradise does not exist on Mundus. To make up the shortfall the guard picked a random person and began counting us off. He needed 14 of us, he just went down the line and counted the next 14 off and sent them off under guard. I was number 15, we never saw them again and later we found out they had died in an experiment using some kind of nerve agent, but that was only after we had freed our nation."
In the few hours from when the arrest in East Moreland (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=150.msg8076#msg8076) was announced a total of 62 survivors of Watkins Bay came forward offering their evidence. Should the extradition be granted Gamal would be the third former Seleucid army officer to face trial in The Commonwealth. It is understood that should extradition be granted the nation would push for the death penalty if Gamal is found guilty. It is hoped that seeing as East Moreland also use the death penalty they will overlook the issue. However at talks to form a kind of Ardian organisation it seems nations would be unwilling to extradite a suspect if their is the potential for an execution. Tane Sevasi addressed this saying, "Some crimes there is only one path to justice and that is Muru which means the punishment should match the crime as closely as possible. For example you steal then you should lose your property, you take a life then your life should be forefit. To have people say we can put someone on trial for the most horrific crimes known to Mundus but not dispense fitting justice is a kick in the teeth. To imagine we will have to pay to keep them locked up is not really a position we want to be in."

PROTEST SHUTS DOWN "COLLABORATING BUSINESS"
The Otikoro Muhali Foundation, a body set up by private funds to investigate and locate those involved in the Maori genocide, has discovered that the CEO of the Telemark Company accepted funds from the government of Royal Seleucid during the occupation. Mrs.Kahurangi Rangatari whose Telemark company manufacture fabrics was discovered to have been paid five payments of $45,000 between 1999 and 2000 as well as having been given land near Hunter's Bay in 1990. There have always been rumours of the 73 year old having benefitted from the Seleucid occupation however until now they have not been proven. As soon as the news broke a large group of protesters arrived at the companies HQ and workers were forced to lock themselves inside. After an hour a group of around 50 workers walked out having resigned following reading the documents put forward by the Otikoro Muhali Foundation. By mid afternoon the protest had swollen to around 600 people and official representatives of 7 of the ten major Iwi's were present and a ceremonial Haka was made.
Epe Fonoti, the representative of the Ngāi Tai Iwi said, "We have to see justice done. This woman took money from the Seleucid and as such is one of the few to have benefitted from Seleucid murder. It is not therefore surprising that Telemark was opened just months after independence because she was one of the few Maori with money. While the rest of us gathered together as an Iwi and got what few funds we had together to build a future she is living in the lap of luxury. The land she has been given she never spoke about, what did she do to get this land? She must answer that question in court."
One of the 3 Iwi's that did not officially attend the protest was Ngāpuhi of which King Piripi is the Chief, later in the evening however he released a statement saying. "In the coming days staff from the Otikoro Muhali Foundation will meet with the Police and the Criminal Prosecution Service and if there is a case to answer then the case will be held. Until that time members of the Military Police will escort Mrs.Rangatari to her residency and there ensure that no vigilantes try and take their own justice. We must place our trust in the courts which have yet to fail us."
It is expected that later this week East Moreland will announce its plans for extraditing Imran Gamal who is accused of manufacturing chemical weapons during the occupation.
The Police were called and were backed up by members of the military however the protests did not turn violent and those involved limited themselves to mainly shouting and yelling.

EXTRADITION GRANTED
Former Seleucid military officer and chemical engineer Imran Gamal will be extradited from East Moreland in the coming days. The man thought to be responsible for several thousand Maori deaths in the Watkins Bay Camp by using them as guinea pigs in experiments with chemical gas. He had been arrested on acts of terrorism in East Moreland when arrested alongside several Borlanders following their series of rather innovative terrorist attacks across Mundus. Gamal was believed to be behind helping the ground manufacture low level chemical agents and even grow bacteria to create large scale food poisoning. A deal was reached with the Morelanders to hand Gamal over immediately despite him not having yet faced charges in East Moreland. The move was explained by our nations Minister of Justice, Te Ururoa Harawire, "The Morelanders appreciate the importance to our people of this trial, they also appreciate that their case against Gamal could be bogged down for well over 12 months then endless appeals. As such we have agreed that he will face trial first in The Iwi, should he be found innocent he will be returned to East Moreland to face trial there, however should he be found guilty here, the most likely outcome being execution we can either carry out the sentence or postpone for a trial in East Moreland. We have agreed however should be recieve a death penalty in The Iwi the punishment will be carried out here, even should the Morelanders pronounce their own sentence of death. I believe this is an agreement that would allow justice to be done and Gamal to know his fate quickly."
Should Gamal be found guilty he would be the third Seleucid officer to be executed for their role in the Maori genocide. Meanwhile the Telemark Company have reported sales of their fabrics have dropped 80% after nationwide boycotts of their products following the discovery that their founder and majority share owner Mrs.Kahurangi Rangatari was a Seleucid collaborator. Documents collected by the Otikoro Muhali Foundation indicate that Mrs.Rangatari recieved funds from the Seleucid government for "accommodating troops and equipment" as well as "giving comfort to the enemy" and "bringing to justice rebellious Seleucid subjects". The Police are currently reviewing the documentation and are expected to question the businesswoman in the next few days. She is currently under Military Police guard at her home address after protesters blocked the Telemark entrance as well as hung banners demanding her execution of her housing compounds fence.

GAMAL TRIAL TO BE LIVE STREAMED
In a first of its kind for the Commonwealth the trial for crimes relating to genocide of Seleucid chemist and military officer Imran Gamal will be live streamed via the governments website. The trial covers the mans involvement with experiments at the infamous Watkins Bay Camp which saw thousands of Maori killed by the use of various chemical substances. A guilty verdict is likely to bring about a sentence of death.
Meanwhile Police have confirmed that Mrs.Mrs.Kahurangi Rangatari has been arrested and is to be charged with crimes relating to treason and supporting the mass murder. It was revealed that during the occupation the woman who now runs the textile business Telemark received large payments from the Seleucid government. One source who has seen the documents says, "The payments were regular and funnelled through several companies so not directly from the Seleucid government, research has however shown these companies were merely a front for the Seleucid government and may as well come directly from the royal families pockets. Eye witnesses say that, using a code, Rangatari was able to pass on the location of several groups of Maori in hiding and that she also infiltrated groups of the Commonwealths forces in order to betray their plans. One document I've seen says she is responsible for the death of around 300 people." Her trial is likely to start at a similar time to Gamals.

NAVY TO INCREASE KRIMEON PRESCENCE
Following an announcement by the Rokkenjiman Navy of an exercise designed to test their "Two and a half doctrine" the Commonwealth's Navy will reinforce its Krimeon prescence during the length of the exercise. Speaking before deploying aboard the destroyer, Okoki, Captain Rawiwi Barbella said, "It is important that we need to keep eyes on the area, not because of the exercise itself but because of the increased traffic. The last thing we need or desire is some Seleucid activity sneaking in under the shadow of a Rokkenjiman exercise." In the last few months the Commonwealth and the Seleucid have seen increased tensions following an Iwi strike on a suspected biological weapons plant, followed by a Seleucid attack on a Commonwealth gas rig, soon after an Iwi submarine in international waters was attacked by the Seleucid and its crew imprisoned before being released into Heyran custody. "We have seen now two attacks upon our nation by the Seleucid, which come after centuries of abuse in our own lands, this large scale exercise transiting an area of hostility shouldn't catch us with our pants down." added Barbella who put to sea along with two other destroyers.
It is expected that the exercise the Rokkenjimans are carrying out will also be used as a means of a monitoring exercise by the Commonwealth Navy as they use the oppurtunity to monitor an enemy force from distance, a move that could be rather controversial.
It is also expected that this weekend the Ministry of Defence will review bids for an uprgade of the armed forces. A spokesman saying, "We've had significant interest on all fronts and will now carefully review each bid on its merits."

GAMAL EXECUTED FOLLOWING GUILTY VERDICT
Following a live televised trial former Seleucid military officer Imran Gamal who ran a biological and chemical weapons research centre at the Watkins Bay Camp has been found guilty and executed. He was found guilty of genocide, attempted murder and various other crimes against humanity. It is estimated that around 300 Maori were murdered as the result of experiments carried out by Gamal, a further 800 are left with debilitating conditions. The three judges heard evidence from several of the people he experimented on as well as members of the Commonwealth's military who carried out several reconnaissance observations of the camp before freeing it.
Gamal plead not guilty and hinged his case on not being at the camp long enough to carry out any experiments, furthermore he claimed that the people died of Typhus because the Commonwealth military kept attacking the camps water supplies. This was rejected by the judges who were presented with photographic evidence of Gamal at the camp and various records of the comings and goings of camp officers. The judges voted unanimously that Gamal was guilty and sentenced to death. Under the Maori concept of justice needing to fit the crime, known as Muru, the judges sentenced Gamal to death. He indicated that there would be no appeal saying, "This court is one where a man never stood a chance and that you would string up the virtous to appease your filthy Maori mob." He was taken from the court room and later that evening driven to the remains of Watkins Bay Camp where he was garrotted before his body was thrown into acid. Once dissolved his remains will be poured into the sea to keep "the beloved soil of the Iwi, which has been damaged enough by the Seleucid, free from further contamination."

GAMAL REMAINS DUMPED AT SEA AS CRITICISM BEGINS
It was announced this morning that the remains of Imran Gamal, the executed Royal Seleucid military officer have been dumped into the Mhorish. With no ceremony at precisely 7am the remains were disposed of by a Naval vessel heading out on a routine patrol. The news comes amid criticism from several nations. Following the announcement of the execution the first nation to respond was, as expected, Royal Seleucid who obviously claimed the man was innocent.
Within minutes the government of Tamora had responded to their neighbours calling for nations to suspend arms sales to the Commonwealth. In a statement from their Head of Foreign Affairs, Alya Safavid Tamora claimed failing to do so may begin an "arms race in the region" something that King Piripi called ridicoulous, "Our military is currently running equipment that dates from the 1980's, yet we see the Seleucid upgrading their military in just the last few months. If any nation is heading an arms race it is those of Midaranye, the Maori are not a militaristic people by nature and we desire no war, although we got rather used to it when the Seleucid came across the seas. Yes we will be purchasing arms as we need to ensure no one like the Seleucid can ever take advantage of us again."
The next nation to make a statement was Neu Uburzis, their young Emperor spoke to their youth parliament. The King responded to his statement saying, "The Uburzis people are connected to our own, some of their people belong to one of our Iwi and as such their emperor is showing wisdom for someone his age when he said, " i would never dare question a whole cultures sense of justice" Our culture is one that we have battled to maintain and keep strong and anyone who knows the Maori culture will understand just why we are doing what we are in the manner we are."
The King of East Moreland, who permitted the extradition also spoke saying he would support further extraditions if they came about. King Piripi said, "The Morelanders were among the first outsiders to come to our nation and King David showed a great deal of respect to our deceased warriors. I believe the Morelander monarch appreciates what we are doing in trying to bring those who committed genocide to justice. The Morelanders know what a genocide feels like being the Protecters of the Cult of Helus and suffering at the hands of the Seleucid just as we are. It's good to see some nations standing by to punish those commit wrong."
The most stinging criticism however came from the Rokkenjiman Foreign Office who have imposed a travel adviser on the Commonwealth as well as an effective arms embargo. The King explained that should more trials deliver guilty verdicts he would encourage judges to continue using the concept of Muru. A leading Maori legal expert explained the process stating "The murder of a person takes away the Tapu[1] of the victim. The only way to restore that Tapu is for it to to go through a process of Utu[2], that means when using Muru you must make the person who committed a crime go through similar losses or pain as the victim. For example you steal a car then if you own a car your own is taken, sold and the money given to the victim the short fall made up by work you do while in prison. The universe loves balance, all we do is restore it. Perhaps the Rokkenjimans should try understanding our culture and faith rather than living in ignorance of it."

FIRST MAORI IN SPACE
Bessie Aupōuri today became the first Maori in space, an achievement she has hailed as "ground breaking in multiple ways.". The 41 year old physics professor was selected from among 4 candidates to join the CNN programme to build a cheap and lightweight space station. Over the weekend experienced astronauts from CNN partners East Moreland and Ui Cenneslaig set forth for the East Moreland mini space station and will enlarge the facility with the use of various inflatable structures. Prior to go Aupōuri spoke with the media saying. "Maori society has always painted specific gender roles for us. Historically exploration of the unknown was carried out by crews of men in giant canoes. Now we have a new unknown space and the Maori leading the way is a woman." Prior to launch, which was taking place in East Moreland, the Maori involved in the ground crew carried out a haka to wish Aupōuri well on her journey.

The haka was joined by several other members of the Mission team who had been learning the moves alongside Kilian Kaihoe who was the backup astronaut. "Obviously I'm disappointed not to go. This has been a project that I've dedicated months to but there will, if this is successful be other opportunities. I've had the chance to work with great scientists from East Moreland and Ui Cenneslaig as well as learn alongside the Lodjains who like us are new to this. We've become one big happy scientific community.
As part of the journey Aupōuri will spend a week in space before returning. Should everything go according to plan then further astronauts, include Kaihoe will visit the station.[1]

KING PREPARES FOR COMING OF AGE CEREMONY
The royal family today arrived at their ancestoral home of Rotunga to prepare for this weekends upcoming coming of age ceremony. Prince Kimo celebrates his tenth birthday and would traditionally have begun taking part in preparations for tribal duties such as hunting, fishing and being a warrior. The ceremony also marks the occasion on which a Maori may, if permitted be given their first Tā moko (tattoo), speak in tribal council and take a wife, however today these rights tend to not be practiced before the age of 16. It is expected that King Piripi will also return to the tradition of crowning his son, hereby marking him as his successor and leading to no disputes on succession when the King dies. This ceremony was not carried out by King Piripi's father as the present King was the 2nd son of the family and was thus never expected to inherit the throne. It was only when his father and brother died in the same aircraft accident that he became the leader of our nation. The pre-coronation however has not been confirmed. It is however expected that many guests from overseas would attend as Tane Sevasi, the Kings cousin and Royal Envoy explained, "When the CNN meet and we opened our doors at Matariki we sought to become closer with the world, as such several nations formed a bond with us through adoption and it is only right that they be given the chance to attend an important family occasion. So far we have confirmed that the Crown Princess of Lodja will make a visit, marking her first state duty as a member of the royal family. While we have yet to have many others confirm their attendance it is highly likely others will attend. We appreciate the Ironside family of East Moreland are unlikely to make a visit and we wish their Princess Rhiannon a speedy recovery."
Traditionally the day would start with Kimo taking a ritual washing in the sea before taking part in a procession. Following that he is expected to be presented with his first korowai (cloak) before receiving other practical birthday gifts. The Prince will then be expected to spend the afternoon foraging and hunting in the woods, returning just before sunset with his items. These are often taken as an omen for a persons future. The Iwi will then enjoy a traditional Hāngi before the crowning ceremony, if undertaken, happening at midnight.

AIR FORCE INTERCEPT SELEUCID BOMBER
It was this morning confirmed that the nations Air Force intercepted and shadowed a Royal Seleucid bomber close to Commonwealth air space. The bomber is one thought capable of firing long range cruise missiles and was intercepted just outside Commonwealth air space, at which point it turned and flew parallel to the internationally recognised limits. It proceeded to turn 180 degrees and back track, flying up and down the coast five times in total before flying back North. Jets on patrol intercepted the aircraft around 30km from the coast and challenged it over radio but received no response. The jets followed the bomber until it was 200km North of the coast before returning to base.
A spokesman from the military said, "We believe this is nothing to worry about, the aircraft was tracked by our armed forces for much of its journey and our jets responded swiftly and professionally. This is an act of provocation and we will be prepared for any attempts by the Seleucid to harm our nation, its people or our kin."

KING PREPARES TO CROWN SON
King Piripi is beginning preparations to crown his son this coming weekend. Prince Kimo turns 10 years old this Saturday and in keeping with Maori tradition the King intends to crown his own successor. The tradition was begun by the first Maori ruler, King Rangi in 1817 who crowned his own son Prince Kenatara to ensure that Unified Iwi forces kept a single leader in their fight against the Seleucid. Maori historian Otikoro Muhali explained, "It was necessary to keep the tribes from trying to grab power for themselves, Rangi knew this and so as a Chief, and therefore a King's power, is derived from his tepu, to have someone with the tepu of Rangi give his word vouching for you was immensely powerful. In that way every Maori King has tried to replicate that, and now Piripi, who was not crowned by his father, is looking to do the same."
The ceremony will see the Chiefs of all the recognised Iwi's attend and offer their oaths of loyalty to Prince Kimo, who hence forth will be called High Chief in recognition of being the future King. It is also customary that the Prince will receive his first ceremonial cloak and club. There is also expected to be representatives of the CNN allies in presence as well as the various nations that King Piripi had adopted into the Iwi's during Matariki celebrations. Respected Iwi Chief Tipene Tama has today spoken out about the suggested formation of an organisation to connect the continent. The organisation, set to be called the North East Ardian Transport Organisation has meet some opposition from the various tribes. The most outspoken is the leader of the Ngāti Rongomaiwahine Iwi who has often called on King Piripi to seek to gain reparations from nations who he see's as compliciet in the occupation of the Commonwealth. The tribal leader stated "An organisation seeking to bring the continent together for the good of the wealthy is not neat at all, NEATO is far from it. KING OFFERS SUPPORT TO MARYRN MAORI
Following reports in the Xaeth media that the Xaeth government are seeking to repatriate museum objects relating to the Maori King Piripi has spoken of his intent to also help the Maori of the Maryrn region of the neighbouring nation. When King Piripi visited the National Museum in Hunter's Bay he explained, "The people of Xaeth have ended up with a substaintial Maori population and a lot of Maori now live under the laws of this foreign power. Life for the Maori would be much better should we all reside in one nation but clearly in the modern age this is an impossible ask. What we must do though is do all the best we can to ensure that the Maori are not treated as second class citizens. We have seen nations and groups start to move towards minimising and hopefully reducing the slave trade and now Xaeth must ensure the Maori in their borders are not marginalised." The King says he is willing to send experts on tribal history to Xaeth to look over artefacts and said that while he believed all artefacts should initially be sent home he did not rule out them being displayed in other museums around the world. "Our culture and traditions are relatively unknown in many corners of the world. Once we ensure that respect is given to these things I think the aretfacts can be a valuable weapon in helping people understand our way of life. Our commitment to CETO means we wish to share our culture with the world and I would have no problem seeing objects loaned to museums but they must not be of the kind we have seen where preserved heads have been put on display."
The King also went on to explain the support he is willing to give to the people of Maryrn. "We believe that no matter where a Maori goes they remain partly in the homeland. As such a Maori living in any nation is free to come and claim the right to reside in our nation. After three years they may claim citizenship of the Commonwealth and that can even be earlier if they can prove ancestory connecting them to an existing Iwi recognised under Commonwealth law. Additionally I will be funding lawyers for the Maori in Maryryn who are arrested so long as they are not using violent protest methods. While they are not slaves they are not equal and we must support them."

WATER NOMAD SUPPORT GROUP FORMED
The Maori Youth Council(MYC) have formed the Water Nomad Support Group, intended to help this group ensure their human rights are protected. The MYC is made up of representatives of each Iwi and is open to people aged between 16-21 and undertakes many activities aimed at allowing young people to have a voice as well as help them maintain links to their ancestoral routes. The MYC announced that it was concerned that the Water Nomads, who have recently declared themselves a nation, may not be granted basic human rights because of their way of life. One young Maori explained to us, "The history of the Maori is not to disimilar to that of the Water Nomads. We both travelled around the world from island to island to land establishing homes and groups allowing us to flourish. While our people found the North of Ardia and settled here, from who knows where, the Water Nomads have stuck to that way of life. We must ensure that they are allowed to develop their lifestyle to a manner suitable for them."
So far the government have not commented on the declaration whoever an informal statement from the Tane Sevasi, the King's Royal Envoy explained, "The Water Nomads are an interesting group of people for sure and I think I can imagine a lot of similarities between our people historically. We however can not see how they can impact the way of life of other nations. Bakkermaya and Paracambi have established themselves on those larger islands and the fact the Water Nomad have not colonised the islands shows they have no interest in land ownership. The Water Nomads must be protected within those nations." It was expected that the Commonwealth would not support the deceleration as the Water Nomads have so far only claimed nine islands out of a substantial number. If they claimed others it could see them claim an island chain as far south as Lodja, our CNN allies.

GOVERNMENT TO CUT FUNDING FOR CARE OF "OCCUPATION DISABLED"
During the 1980's and early 1990's several tens of thousands of children were born to Maori women who had collaborated with the Seleucid or had been raped. Many of these women fearful of having the child or pressured by their Seleucid lovers turned to illegal drugs or natural folk remedies in order to try and abort the child. This lead to the birth of what is thought to be around 28,000 children with birth defects such as blindness, missing limbs or brain damage. These children have often been refered to as the "Occupation Disabled" and 90% of them have been raised in care homes. With the majority of these people now reaching close to 40 years of age it has been determined that funding for their care is to be cut.
The decision was announced by the Minister of Health Nanaia Mahuta who said, "The nation of the Commonwealth had a large number of disabled and wounded to care for because of the long term injuries incurred during the occupation. We must look towards the long term care of these people and as such prioritise the needs of the people. Harsh decisions need to be made and having looked at the long term prognosis of the Occupation Disabled it is clear that in future there will be less of them and therefore we shall begin to gradually decrease the budget. Yes there will be a decrease in the funding for care of these individuals but there is a projected decrease in their total number and therefore this is natural."
Some however have indicated that this logic is not necessarily sound. As Peraka Tovakioua, a step-brother of one of the Occupation Disabled explains, " I understand that the number of people like my sister will decrease, the problem however is that she will need more and more elaborate care as she gets older." Mr. Tovakioua's sister is 36 years of age and was born with a form of dwarfism and decreased brain function, effectively she has a mental age of 7 years old and has problems with her kidneys. Her condition was formed when her mother took several forms of low doses of poisoned plants in order to try and abort the pregnancy. Currently she is based in a specialist care unit which is likely to now see its funding cut.
The news comes as a recent report suggests that incidents of racism against the Seleucid minority have increased 3% in the last twelve months. Additionally the number of Seleucid unemployed has increased as a percent of the population. Unemployment in the Commonwealth is currently 4.2% however among the Seleucid community that number is 12%.

KING WELCOMES LODJAIN MINISTER
King Piripi today welcomed Lodjain Finance Minister Dragan Knežević to Hunter's Bay. The Lodjain official was greeted with a traditional Maori hongi before enjoying a tour around the capital. The meeting was part of a series planned between the two nations in order to look at ways of working together to improve both nations agricultural and fisheries output. While both nations are far apart geographically the two nations have a rich heritage of maritime aquaculture as well as a sizable agricultural sector. In recent years however both nations have failed to utilise their full potential in the Iwi's case because of a legacy of damaged irrigation systems and chemically damaged land from the Seleucid occupation, in Lodja's case many view a period of poor land management by greedy Patricians as a factor. King Piripi stated that he believed both nations could support each other. "The Commonwealth and the Queendom are two nations that have been bound together by the CNN and perhaps at times wrongly seen as junior partners. We've seen big projects in military development with a Morelander leadership and the space agency lead by the Cenneg. The King was also keen to look at opportunities of the two nations co-operating in terms of oil and gas production. The Lodjians have long since has a sizeable gas industry and the relics of the Seleucid gas production facilities need improvement according to some analysists. The King stated, "Minister Knežević is extremely knowledgeable about the gas industry in Lodja. As such they've produced a series of gas rigs that are ultra efficient. We're going to look at having some of their designs constructed in the Commonwealth and replace some of the old Seleucid platforms." No date has been given for the commencemnet of construction however it is expected to be some time early next year. It is expected Minister Knežević will remain in the Commonwealth for a few more days before returning home with the King's Royal Envoy Tane Sevasi. The Royal Envoy is scheduled to tour some of the Lodjain gas facilities as well as attend a banquet at the Isle of the Goddess held in his honour. During his visit it is likely that as well as trying to agree some deals about improving both nations agricultural production levels the two may also discuss naval procurements. "I understand the Lodjains have in the past brought in new developments in their Navy. This to me is a bit strange as their merchant shipping has been demonstrated to be of high quality. The Commonwealth has a history of being sea-faring people but as of late have failed to replace some of the Seleucid legacy equipment. We are both nations looking to improve the standard of our military and with support from the Morelanders and the Cenneg I am sure that between the two nations we can put together some programme to build our own replacements. This could be building an existing Cenneg or Morelander design in our own dockyards or working with Lodja to come up with our own design."

FLEET STAY ON ALERT DESPITE "DEAL"
Despite King Heydar of Royal Seleucid offering to end their hostile stance towards the Commonwealth the deal he put forward has been rejected. The King stated that he consider the so called debt of $150million cancelled should the Commonwealth agree not to come within 500km of Royal Seleucid as well as agreeing not to place any more former Seleucid military members on trial for crimes allegedly committed during their occupation. The deal was dismissed by King Piripi who stated, "To deny our people justice is something we can not accept. The Seleucid should be willing to face their own evil past and only when this has happened can their truly be a peace between us. We also will not deny ourselves the right to travel where we wish in accordance with international laws. The King of the Seleucid made this offer for only a propaganda piece. The terms are ones we could never accept. Should the Seleucid truly wish this situation to end then they must actively seek these war criminals and help bring them to justice before we can even consider lowering our alert status."
As if to demonstrate the Commonwealths commitment to opposing the Seleucid's stance a pair of Maori carrier fighters breached the 500km limit as part of a patrol from the nations aircraft carrier. There was no response from the Seleucid.

QUEEN MAATA TO VISIT NORTHFORT
Queen Maata is to spend a month working in Royal Northfort Infirmary as part of a project to learn more about the work of the Global Childbirth Initiative. The Queen who still works two days a week in the Hunter's Bay Emergency Department has become concerned about the way in which death rates among rural Maori women have been increasing. The Queen hopes to spend her time working as a doctor in the hospitals emergency department as well as attending the clinics run by the Global Childbirth Initiative in the hospital. The Queen announced her decision saying, " One of the great things the liberation of the Commonwealth brought was an ability to go back to our traditions. Sadly some of those traditions have become dangerous. People are committed to having their children be born in traditional Maori lodges however these are often out in the countryside, in some cases hours away from medical centres. They rely on the traditional role of tribal elders managing the situation but often these women are untrained and lack any equipment." The number of deaths in childbirth in the Commonwealth is around 70 per 100,000 as opposed to the 9 per 100,000 in East Moreland. The Queen said, "There is much we can clearly learn from Northfort and while some of the reasons for this disparity will be geographical or economical but we can still hopefully do some things to close this gap."
The Queen will be residing at Northfort Royal Palace during her visit and is expected to also meet with former Queen of East Moreland Matilda Osman. Miss Osman is the founder of the GCI and nearly died in childbirth herself.

IWI TO SCRAP CARRIER "IF CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT"
Following the publication of East Moreland's review into its aircraft carrier use the Commonwealth of The Iwi is likely to follow suit by scrapping its single carrier. The CNW Arawa was constructed in the late 1940's by the Seleucid and was captured in 1982 by a group of Commonwealth Commandos during a raid on Matawahari Naval Base in the final few days of the occupation. The ship has since served in the Navy and has been used as part of several operations striking at the Seleucid in response to biological attacks. The government made the announcement through the King's military envoy Tama Roimata who said, "The Arawa is now close to 75 years old and is probably one of, if not the oldest aircraft carrier on Mundus. It's taken some hard hits during its life and is in need of some TLC.We'll talk with the Morelanders and the others in the CNN, after all we've heard Lodja talk about their own Navy in the past few days. Should we be able to find a viable alternative that helps our national security and our requirements then we shall proceed with removing it from service." Some have hinted that the King may ask for permission to licence the construction of a drone carrier utilised by the Morelanders while others believe that with East Moreland, Lodja and now the Iwi looking at changes of their navy then a joint CNN project could be undertaken. Experts believe a drone carrier may be a preferred option as the Iwi navy remains relatively small and the flexibility of a ship that is part carrier, part destroyer and part amphibious warfare ship is appealing. Additionally the Navies aircraft carrier capable fighters are approaching 50 years old and are desperately in need of replacement and a automated option may be the best soloution.

IWI TO GET DRONE CARRIER
King Piripi has today confirmed that the ageing CNW Arawa will be replaced with a version of the East Moreland Drone Carrier. The ship is to be built in Hunter's Bay by shipwrights from the Waka Dockyards with a team of supervisers brought in from East Moreland. The deal will see a fee paid to East Moreland's designers for the vessel, and then should further copies be made for each new ship, as well as certain key pieces of equipment being purchased from the Morelanders. The nations Minister of Defence Loti Tarkawin explained, "The Arawa is I think the oldest aircraft carrier still in service in the world. Its a relic and we're struggling to keep the vessel and its air arm at sea. We believe we need the ability to keep an air prescence if needed and the Drone Carrier means we have that ability. Once we modernise some elements of our air force there is perhaps even a chance to operate fixed wing aircraft from the vessel." There have however been criticism of the move by some with Chief Wiremu Ngaio of the Ngāti Wai saying "Once upon a time our ancestors built the greatest canoes that Mundus has ever seen and sailed us to the northern shores of Ardia where we made our home. Today however we are giving the task of sorting out a boat to Morelanders one of the least navaly prolific nations on Mundus."
The King is due to go to the Dockyards tomorrow to oversee the ceremony of the "Laying of the Hull" a tradition undertaken whenever a Iwi construct a new canoe and a naval tradition brought in since the Commonwealth became independent. KING OFFERS NEW WAY TO CITIZENSHIP
Since the Commonwealth joined the CNN a larger number of foreigners have been moving to the nation for business and educational reasons and as such demand for permanent right to remain has increased. Currently to be able to claim Commonwealth citizenship a person must have at least one parent who is a member of a legally recognised Iwi or have resided in the Commonwealth for 3 years and be adopted into an Iwi. For many the hurdle of being adopted into an Iwi is highly difficult, especially for those of part Seleucid ancestory who remain part of a significant minority. The King today has announced that he will formally recognise an 11th Iwi which will have Crown Prince Kimo as its Chief. The 7 year old Prince however will not officially be able to take a seat at the Tribal Council until he reaches the age of 12 and until that time the King's cousin Tane Sevasi will act as Chieftan. The new Iwi shall be named Ngāti Tauhokohoko (Tribe of the Outsiders) and will automatically accept anyone who fulfils two criteria, the first being that they have resided legally in the nation for five years and the second that they pass an exam based on Maori Culture, Religion and Language. It is believed that this may create a pathway to citizenship for many in the Commonwealth denied so far,as a result of the new law several Seleucid descendents will now be eligable for claiming citizenship if they pass the exam.
The tribes Interim Chief, Tane Sevasi, believes the Iwi will remain very small. "I do not see many of the Seleucid descendents here either wishing to join or passing the exam. Should they then I am obliged to welcome them into my tribe with open arms and I shall treat them no different to any other member of an Iwi. I am proud to be the first to open the doors of the wharenui[1] of the Ngāti Tauhokohoko and will hold the reigns until Prince Kimo is old enough to do so himself.

ROKKENJIMA AID STATE SPONSERED TERROR
It has been announced that the wanted war criminal Yanni Tawfeek will be handed back to his Seleucid government. The former Seleucid officer was responsible for several war crimes during the struggle for Maori independence and arrested by Kaitaine following entering their country during the Mundus Games. He was given an extradition hearing and transferred to the Commonwealth however was seemingly rescued by Seleucid military or other state sponsored agents and spirited away to Rokkenjima. Having been effectively granted asylum for over a year he and his rescuers are now being handed back over to the Seleucid authorities. One of the nations leading judges, Chraram Aterea, was scheduled to hear the case and has said, "What will happen now is all the hard work of investigators to track down Tawfeek is now wasted. He will now slink back to Royal Seleucid and there disappear with help from their government never to face justice for what horrors he inflicted on people. To make matters even worse the Seleucid who killed members of the Commonwealth Police force to give this individual freedom are also being freed to return home. They have in essence got away with murder and Rokkenjima have allowed that to happen. Genocide is a crime so horrific it is something the Uppsala Convention and MCUR have put in places courts to oversee, as Rokkenjima well knows. However even if the Rokkenjimans don't believe our system of justice to be humane why have they not proceeded in these bodies which Rokkenjima are supposedly champions of. This is sending an unacceptable message that terrorists, mass murderers and perpatrators of genocide are free to act as they wish. Had for example the kidnappers of Princess Adriana have found their way to the Commonwealth and into our custody you could be assured we would not have simply allowed them to return to where they had come from."
The statement was supported by King Piripi who said, "We will stand against terrorism wherever it takes place. During this current time we see two major global issues, first the Alander satellite crisis which I am sad to confirm seems to have spread to our own area. Over the weekend we have had reports of black outs with ships moving through the Matildas that utilise our waters and ports. We will work hard to capture those responsible and they will be sent back to Nya Aland, not with just a slap on the wrist but in chains. Additionally I would like to offer our support to our neighbours the Empire of Ikhvan following an attempt to assassinate their Emperor. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and I wish him a speedy recovery. KING APPOINTS FIRST FAʻAFAFINE MINISTER
Today at the Royal Palace in Hunter's Bay King Piripi appointed the nations new Minister of Justice. Marion Kahira is a former investigator of the Otikoro Muhali Foundation and has acted as a witness in several of the trials of those accused of crimes against humanity during the War of Independence. Kahira is also the first Fa'afafine to be given a position in the government. The Fa'afafine is a recognised gender identity in the Commonwealth where a person is born male and will adopt certain feminine characteristics while also retaining an element of masculinity. In historical terms of the gender has been recognised througout all of Maori history and has traditionally been seen as a necessity when a Iwi lacked female's to complete traditional female jobs, as such certain boys within an Iwi were raised in a more feminine way so as to fulfill these duties. While the term Fa'afafine is less commonly used today it is one that Kahira is proud to use. "I am honoured to take this position as it gives me a chance to drive our agenda to bring those who saw our race as sub-human to justice. The Otikoro Muhali Foundation has done a great deal but it lacks the diplomatic and international reach. With me as a Minister it means we can extend that and hopefully bring more people to justice. The fact that the King has seen fit to name someone from a less traditional gender to such a key position shows that King Piripi recognises that the qualifications a person holds is what matters and not their tribal links, position or tradition. He has put the Commonwealth first and I pray I can fulfill his hopes."
The appointment has been supported by most Iwi chiefs however one unnamed Chief has stated, "The Ministries are an extension of tribal councils and rules. These form the basis of society and as such the Councils are a man's domain. Kahira may have been born a male but they are far from one now. The appointment should not have been made."
Kahira has already begun work on bringing more war criminals to justice by seeking to establish a transfer of her former employers files to government control and is seeking permission to task the Military Police with investigations.

WAIRUNGI TAMUR SACKED FOR MISMANAGEMENT
Government minister Wairungi Tamur has been sacked by King Piripi for "gross failings that have embarrassed the nation." The 43 year old junior Minister was given the responsibility for managing the processes related to the Unified Iwi's membership of the CNN. As a result of his mismanagement it was reported that several significant steps to maintaining membership were not taken and as such the nation found itself suspended by the organisation. Following a lengthy investigation by the King's special Envoy, Taika Sevasi, it was determined that many pieces of paperwork were not filled in and payments for administration not made. Sevasi explained, "When we joined the CNN it was on condition that each of the Iwi's make an annual contribution to the central government which in turn would ensure all our commitments for administration and the like was covered. Mr.Tamur has failed to undertake that task instead spending much too much time on matters not directly under his remit." The Special Envoy refused to explain what these matters were only that, "His attention was not where it should be and the nation of the Unified Iwi has suffered as a result."
King Piripi has now taken direct control of ensuring the matter was dealt with and explained, "It is now the case that we have fulfilled everything we are expected to, we now hope that our friends in the CNN accept our apology and that we can restore the organisation to its former glory and then even look beyond that." Word has not yet come from Lodja, East Moreland or Ui Cenneslaig as to whether the matter is resolved but it is hopeful that the King will be meeting with the new Lodjain Queen in the coming days. "We are heart broken about the death of Queen Klara. I am proud to say that Queen Natalya is someone we here in the Unified Iwi are very familiar with and we wish her long and prosperous reign."

PRINCE INJURED AT RUKU PUKE
The Ruku Puke is an annual event between the different Iwi's that takes place every year. In this years junior event 12 year old Prince Kimo has broken his arm and is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow. The Prince is said to be "otherwise well" and has his parents at the hospital at Maunga Ahi. The annual Ruku Puke see's each Iwi pick a series of riders who collect banana trunks and tie two together to form a sledge. Riders then take it in turns to slide down the 300 meter or so long hillside which is at a roughly 45 degree angle. Speeds are often recorded at around 70 - 80 kmh. Even once the slope has flattened out the riders momentum carries them some distance and the one travelling the furthest wins. Each year there is a junior, senior and duos competition and this year Prince Kimo was one of those selected to represent the Ngāpuhi Iwi of which he is heir to.
During this years event Prince Kimo's sled appeared to hit a stump on the slope and was catapulted off his home-made sled and thrown a considerable distance. He was airlifted to hospital while his parents were taken by road. The event is used to injuries with cuts and bruises being par for the course. While none have happened in the last 23 years deaths are possible at the event which takes place in a remote venue. Large crowds had gathered and despite the royal injury the event continued. Each year a different Iwi is responsible for hosting the event and 2022 was hosted by the Rongomaiwahine. Their chief Mikaere Huhana spoke about the incident saying, "Of course we wish Prince Kimo well. He's a brave boy, anyone willing to take part in this event has to be. Events such as this though are a central part of our cultures rich heritage and I'm proud our future King had the courage to try."
The event can trace its history back to the 1500's however was banned by the Seleucid between 1900-1971. Despite the event being banned several determined Maori still carried on the event in secret. One heroic tale tells of Sio Vahaakolo in 1964 riding a sled while Seleucid soldiers were shooting at him. King Piripi himself took part in the event as a 13 year old in 1977 after the Maunga Ahi region had been liberated from the Seleucid.

"NEED FOR CLEAR MESSAGES" SAYS ROYAL ENVOY
Taika Sevasi has spoken about recent media reports emerging from Rokkenjima over the last month or so. The cousin of King Piripi is a respected veteran of the War for Independence and spent several years in a Seleucid labour camp, he now serves as Royal Envoy which is a position that involves him representing the crown both overseas and with the various Iwi's. Taika began by addressing the recent apology given by Crown Princess Asuna for previous behaviour by Rokkenjima being "insulting and disrespectful" The Royal Envoy stated, "We acknowledge the words of the Crown Princess and look forward to seeing where they go. I though will be advising my cousin to wait before talking. Apologise should be given face to face between those who lead their family, their Iwi or in this case their nation. At present we have words from a Crown Princess not an Empress. It may to the world seem a small matter but to us hierarchies are important. To have such matters see a King treating a Princess as equal in this matter is something we would struggle with. To then have a member of a prestigious royal family need to seek permission for actions such as even visiting our lands would again indicate an imbalance of power. Naturally we would extend our hospitality to the Crown Princess should she be given permission to come but the nature of the visit would be different. Should she wish to extend the apology upon assuming the position of Empress she will, I hope, find us just as ready to accept it as equals."
Just a few days after this apology however there was a huge show of naval power by the Rokkenjimans. "We have on one hand the encouragement of the Crown Princess towards co-operation and friendship. The next moment we see a huge showcase of naval vessels, that until recently were sent close to our nation as a kind of thinny veiled threat towards our efforts in bringing the Seleucid war criminals to justice. Rather than address this we see phase two of Operation Typhoon which sees our nation being watched by Rokkenjima. Meanwhile the Imperial address talks of the Rokkenjimans being open to removing sanctions against the Seleucid for their practice of a form of slavery while still not confronting their historic acts against humanity. Fragments of a Seleucid bullet remain in my body from being used as a practice toy for their medics while a prisoner of theirs. Many people suffered worse than myself and we demand justice. The world should be with us in ensuring this happens. It took several years to even get Yanni Tawfeek to a trial after he sought asylum and even then it was in East Moreland. While I understand the Rokkenjiman naval tradition when they talk of phases of operations then parade so many vessels its in our minds a clear message."
Finally Taika explained that King Piripi and King David of East Moreland have been in talks over a potential future plan to prevent a repeat of the Yanni Tawfeek situation. "My cousin and our friend King David have meet several times both virtually and face to face to form what we hope could be a useful future arrangement that would ensure not just those involved in our slaughter but also various other incidents such as the Cultist Genocide, Mavrosian persecutions and Uppsala incidents do not escape justice."

NATION DEMAND POSITIVE RESULTS
With the rugby world cup just days away the nation has begun to prepare for the tournament. Across the nation schools have made arrangements to screen games and pubs have ordered extra barrels of beer. It is expected, as always, that during games featuring the national team that the country will come to a practical standby. With the men's team being in action against a pair of Celtic nations a tough group stage is expected while the womens team must face hosts Vaguzia, Dal Rathia and Mkvartvelo. The national team are always faced with high expectations as national team coach Sepi Valakana explains, "To wear the black jersey is the highest honour for a professional rugby player. Everyone who comes into camp must work not for their own personal fame or glory but must bust their guts to ensure that when they leave camp they have done something to put the status of the jersey into a better place. Thats a lot of pressure but if we can consistently do this then we can achieve a great deal."
King Piripi has already announced his intention to spend some time in East Moreland during the tournament and is likely to cross the border several times to attend games. With Prince Kimo still recovering from a broken arm caused by an accident at the Ruku Puke Festival it is unlikely the youngster will travel. A spokesman from the royal palace said. "The Prince currently has several metal pins in his arm and is having to take a great care about not banging his arm and so being in a large crowd is not advisable. The Prince though is on the mend and should make a full recovery in time with rest and then physio."

FLT LT VAUTU TO COMMAND FIRST ALL MAORI MISSION
On the 24th June 2022 the Maori community will celebrate Matariki. This is a day when the Maori community remember the dead of the previous year and begin preparations for the year ahead. It marks the new year for the Maori and thanks is given to the Gods Ranginui and Papatūānuku. This year however a unique celebration will be undertaken. Flt Lt Vautu will command a three man team on a mission to the CNN Space Station and despite Roca Thumberaka being the first Maori in space nearly two years ago this will the the first time a crew made entirely of Maori will go into space. Flt Lt Vautu, a member of the Rongomaiwahine Iwi said, "This is a very special occasion for us, first to show that the Maori are capable of great things and the second that we are as close to Rangi as it is possible to get while alive, the Sky Father has watched over us and on Matariki must be given great respect. We can think of no better way than undertaking this journey." The crew should, if all goes to plan, enter the space station that day and are expected to conduct some Matariki traditions on the space station including an offering of food, usually sweet potato, to the God.
The crew will spend four weeks on the station conduct several experiments and Lt. Vautu has two concerns, "Our first worry is that we may miss the rugby world cup final, we're hoping that with the CNN being an alliance built on rugby things can be worked out. Our second concern is that we will be expected to welcome our replacements and in our culture this will require a haka which is usually determined by the territory on which it is conducted, this obviously is going to be tricky in space but we welcome this oppurtunity." Renowned poet Rua Matutaera has been asked by King Piripi to prepare for the occasion.

NAVY HEADS WEST
Following announcements by the Rokkenjiman media that a Rokkenjiman fleet is being sent to the Krimeon to take part in monitoring operations against Heyran shipping the Commonwealth's flagship Arawa has left Hunters Bay heading into the Krimeon. The ship had only recently returned from work in the Kyne following a downgrading in Rokkenjiman actions against the Commonwealth. The Arawa was joined by an escort of destroyers, subs and frigates and is expected to undertake patrols, both naval and aerial. A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence explained, "While we still maintain an active patrol in the East as Rokkenjima are said to still maintain an uspecififed number of pods in the region designed to observe us we are not confident that such monitoring will not also be happening to our West as a result of this new fleet. Our nation has never presented a threat to loss of shipping and we are concerned that once again our vessels and our merchant shipping faces unneeded scrutiny. In the past few weeks we've seen words try and calm the situation and now we have yet more Rokkenjiman ships passing close to and in some cases through water we operate in on a daily basis as part of our EEZ as this is heavily used by Heyran traffic." The Foreign Office have though stated that they believe the Heyran court announcements against Rokkenjiman officers to be "vexatious"
The MoD also issued another statement saying that all pilots being assigned to squadrons equipped for ground attack roles would now spending at least two weeks of training time in East Moreland at the Keepton Circuit, a low flying training area. The spokesman said, "Our nation is in terms of area much smaller than East Moreland and we can not have access here to such a useful tool for training. As a result we are pleased to be able to send pilots who will need these skills to a place to hone them. We look forward to the results in due course and the first 12 Moana fighter bombers will depart for Keepton by the end of next week.

IWI-NAUTS RETURN HOME
Following a successful four week mission to the CNN backed space station Lt. Vautu has today returned to Mundus along with his two colleagues. The trio have become the first astronauts from the Iwi to form an entire crew and while they may have been recovered back to Ui Cenneslaig the team were greeted via video link by King Piripi. "In a relatively short period of time we have been able to become a space faring nation. A group of people who once voyaged Mundus in canoes is now venturing into the stars that once guided our ancestors. Its a proud moment to think that our nation have been involved in every step now of the process as members of our Commonwealth helped build the rocket, helped conduct the launch and the recovery. We are grateful to the Morelanders, Cenneg and Lodjians who supported this mission and we now begin preparations for future joint operations."
While on the station the team conducted several experiments and helped install a new communications backup. Mera Vaerapolai became the first Maori to walk in space when he installed part of the communciations system on the exterior of the station. The team even spent Matariki in space an experience that Vaerapolai described as a mixed day, "On the one hand we were living out our dreams but to miss our Iwi's day of celebration is hard. We conducted a small ceremony onboard the station where each of us had brought with us a list of those who had passed away from our villages in the previous twelve months. We were as close Ranginui as any Maori has ever been and so we pray he will have heard our words. I now dream of going back someday."
The crew were relieved by a mixture of Cenneg and Morelander astronauts however this also saw another first. Maori tradition dictates people visiting your home are welcomed with a Haka and as such it was left to Teka Suleriama, the youngest of the astronauts to compose one. In tradition the haka is tailored to the location it is performed and to the Iwi performing it but with three different Iwi's represented and it taking place in a rather unique location a new one was required. Such special Haka's have been written in the past for our nations sports teams and the armed forces however what is now being called the "Space Haka" is likely to be a seldom performed one.

NEW "MAJOR" IWI RECOGNISED
Following this years submissions of the registrations of the various Iwi's the Royal Office for Statistics recommended that the Te Ātiawa Iwi be recognised as a "Major" one. The nation is made up of Major and Minor Iwi's. To be a Major Iwi the Chief must be able to provide evidence of having at least five million members. For the past fifteen years the Te Ātiawa have been hovering at 4.9million, last year being just 12,000 of securing the status as a Major Iwi. Just an hour after receiving the recommendation King Piripi issued a Royal warrant which is required for the Iwi to be able to hold elections for 10 representatives on the The Kaitiaki. The change will also mean that three of the current Kaitiaki will vacate their seats as they represent the Te Ātiawa. They will be replaced by elected representatives from the various Minor Iwi's that elect 10 seats usually every five years.
The Chief of the Te Ātiawa is Wiremu Tamati who will now take up a seat in the Chief's Council. He is a 37 year old fishing fleet owner from Waikala. His business currently employs around 10,000 people and runs a fleet of 20 fishing vessels ranging from small four man vessels using traditional pole techniques to catch tuna up to the large drag net trawler. Chief Wiremu still aims to spend at least one day a week at sea on his ships however has admitted that may now need to change. "Previously I encouraged members of our Iwi to engage in politics and they have. We've a great track record at getting seats on the Kaitiaki previously but now we have a guarantee so I hope we'll have even more people step forward willing to serve. I look forward to being able to make a contribution myself. As the Chief is permitted to serve directly or via a representative on the Chief's Council I will start by attending myself. I am considering though a move where I will send whoever is best suited for each debate." The main reason for the Iwi getting over the 5 million mark has been a large increase in births among the Iwi over the past twelve months. "We've been spinning money away from our fishing business and various other financial resources to encourage programmes for infants and children under the age of 11. We think we need a much sharper focus on supporting the youth to consider options away from traditional land based industries. This is something I will bring up in Council. The measures we've put in place made people confident about having support for having children."
The Iwi will be hosting a day of celebration on Saturday when King Piripi visits the tribes home territories.

KING PROUD OF GAMES SQUAD
Today has been a mixed day for the Unified Iwi at the Mundus Games. The second day of the Boxing Competition saw another day of the Commonwealth taking every Gold medal meaning that Maori boxers took every gold on offer, moving the team up to top of the medal table. Head of Commonwealth Boxing, Jaero Meluemia said "Sports like Boxing are psychological part of our culture. We see ourselves, whether Men, Women or Fa'afafine as warriors. The desire to test ourselves drives us towards certain sports and Boxing is a very popular one. I'm proud of every single one of our athletes and know they've been superb ambassadors not just for the Commonwealth but for their Iwi's. We can look forward to getting home and celebrating now. It would be amazing if we could continue our push and stay top of the medal table."
An oppurtunity that would normally be considered a red hot certainity came later in the day in the Rugby 7's when the Men's team were drawn to face Royal Seleucid in the final. However as the teams headed out onto the pitch their was no arrival from the Iwi's team for three minutes until only four players emerged lead by captain Keula Rolokan. Joined by Matis Ruegua, Willie Saparani and Hosa Gerea the four men made their way to the centre of the pitch and laid down a shirt in the teams colours, Rolokan knelt with his team-mates behind him and then the players walked off to much confusion around the stadium. Moments later the entire squad, staff and officials of the Commonwealth left the changing rooms and returned to their accomodation. Speaking with the media after Rolokan said, "The Mundus Games are a games were we are expected to play in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood. This can not be done in a sport like rugby with a nation that have murdered your family. Me and my three team mates all had relatives murdered in Seleucid Death Camps, my grand-father experimented on with Anthrax. I can't go and play against a team that have still failed to acknowledge this past or do anything to bring peace. Our respect of our ancestors means more than a Gold Medal." The shirt laid on the pitch bore the symbol of a fern rather than a number, Rolokan explained, "The unfurling fern leaf respresents life beginning after the winter, this is our show of the fact that despite the Seleucid trying to wipe us out we are as a nation growing." The game was awarded to the Royal Seleucid team meaning the Commonwealth were awarded a Silver medal however the team refused to collect the medal in the official ceremony and Rolokan interfered with the raising of the Commonwealth Flag. "I will not allow it to fly lower than the murderers one." he said as he pulled it away from the official raising it.
Back in the Commonwealth King Piripi supported his team saying, "Before the games we discussed what should happen. In events like the athletics where there is a mass start and a large field the athletes felt it was right to compete as after all we have a great many friendly nations out there. We had athletes suggest that in a one versus one matchup however we withdraw. I left it to the conscience of each of our athletes and teams and from what I understand everyone has said they will not compete against the Seleucid, especially as sports like rugby traditionally see handshakes and tunnels of respect off the pitch following games. This does not fit right. I know we may face sanctions but a protest must be made. We shall continue this policy until we see Royal Seleucid make real attempts at bringing their criminals to justice and co-operating with the Historic Crimes Treaty we recently created."

ARCHDUCHESS BECOMES FIRST NON-MAORI OFFICER
Today the niece of the East Moreland monarch has become the first non-Maori to serve as an officer in the Commonwealth military. The Unified Iwi Defence Force was formed in 1983 following all the present day Commonwealth unifying after defeating the Seleucid. While since that date there has been no rule saying the military must be made up of Maori it has been a rare sight to find a non-Maori serving in its ranks. Archduchess Sophie Harrison-Ironside has requested to serve on a secondment for several months and has taken up a position with 17 Squadron (Force Protection) in the Commonwealth Air Force. The East Moreland royal has served for several years in the Royal East Moreland Air Force as a dog handler, she will be joined in the Commonwealth by her K9 known as Bandit. She will hold the rank of Flight Liutenant during her stay. The Ironside family were made honourary members of the Ngāti Rongomaiwahine Iwi shortly after the Commonwealth became a founding member of the CNN. The Ngāti Rongomaiwahine Iwi chief is Tipene Tama who has said he hopes the Archduchess, "Makes the time to visit her Maori family and embrace the full experience of being a resident here not just a visitor."
The Morelander was greeted by King Piripi as she arrived to begin her duties next week following a quick induction. Members of 17 Squadron also attended and debuted an East Moreland haka for the occasion.

The Archduchess responded to Flt.Sgt Watene placed a Tewhatewha (Maori Axe) before her by kneeling and picking it up. She then withdrew her own sword and presented it handle first to the Flt.Sergeant who declared this was an auspicious response. "In our culture every movement and action in a haka is analysed for its meaning. To me the Archduchess has today demonstrated a trust in us. I am well aware the Morelanders place a huge spiritual and cultural significance of their sword. She is showing us she is accepting our ways and trusting us with hers. A true demonstration of friendship." 17 Squadron will in the coming weeks be undertaking operations designed to stop smuggling in the northern Ardia region alongside the nations Navy. During the welcome King Piripi also said he hopes that the Archduchess will find time to train with some of the Maori Summer Games team. "While the Summer Games are some way off it is clear Sophie is a great in terms of the sporting world. It will be nice for some of our young athletes to see what it has taken to achieve these great things."
The King also confirmed that his 12 year old son Kimo has now fully recovered from his sledging accident late last year and will be journeying to Lodja for three months of schooling in the near future. "It has always been important that we build personal connections to our friends. I am lucky mine, Finley, David and our sadly lost Viktoriya's mutual love of rugby allowed us to form the CNN. We must make sure the next generation, including Kimo, have this love for each other as the four of us, and later Queen Klara and Natalya have. Each year of his schooling Kimo will spend some time away from home. It will make him a wiser King and Chief when his time comes to lead the Commonwealth." KING PRESENTED NEW GENDER BILL
Representatives from the Ngāti Wai Iwi have today presented to King with a bill that if accepted would officially recognise a fourth gender within the Commonwealth. Currently the nation officially recognises three genders but for the last decade or so there has been calls to add a fourth. Currently the nation recognises people as male, female or Faʻafafine, however people also have the oppurtunity on official paperwork to have an X to signify they do not conform to those three. While the labels male and female are long established, many outside the Commonwealth are less familiar with the label Faʻafafine. The word literally translates as "in the manner of woman" and has a long, all be it hard to follow, history. The label has often been given to younger children in families which have had primarily sons and needed individuals in the family unit to undertake what was considered female roles. This involved the person being raised by the females of the family and taught duties such as child-care, household management and female artistic roles. The majority of Faʻafafine maintain the role even into adulthood even when studies suggest "they believed as a child they were actually female". Faʻafafine are by some Iwi considered special as they are putting the needs of the Iwi above their own. In recent years however there has begun to be recognised by some a forth gender calling itself fa'afatama, "in the manner of man" and is seen by many as being the opposite of the traditional Faʻafafine role. Some sociologists suggest that this may be caused by families becoming smaller and with a desire to keep the male roles in the family strong some families put pressure on newborn females to adopt a male role. As such five years ago the Hunters Bay Faʻafafine Association changed its name to the Hunters Bay Faʻafafine and Fa'afatama Association and has since then been campaigning for this change.
Under Commonwealth Law an Iwi must propose the new law in a meeting of the elected members of The Kaitiaki, each Iwi elects a number of members known as Guardians. This morning Taulapapa Fitiao of the Ngāti Wai Iwi proposed what he described as "recognition for what has been happening unofficially for years. We as a Commonwealth value people for who they are and will always strive to make all Maori feel part of our larger Iwi. At the moment some feel outside that and we as legislators must work to change that. It is vital that this law passes the next hurdle." That hurdle will come in the next few weeks where both a majority of the Kaitiaki and a majority of the Iwi chiefs must accept the bill. The Bill will be read by all nine of the other Iwi before amendments are made. The Bill will then be voted on and as in 2013 the constitution gave recognition to the Faʻafafine this will also require a constitutional change and as such a simple majority of Guardians is not sufficent. Not only must the Bill gain a majority of Guardians but it must also have six of the ten Iwi support the measure. The Bill would then be passed to the King for his signature or veto.

CENNEG CARRIER REPLACES ARAWA
It was confirmed by the Ministry of Defence that today that the nations aging aircraft carrier, The Arawa, will leave service at the end of this month and be replaced with the Cenneg carrier CNV Art (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimitz-class_aircraft_carrier). The nation is also expecting the delivery of a newly constructed Cyborg class ship from East Moreland. The procurement o the two new vessels indicates the first steps in the Commonwealths new military procurement strategy. Stated two years ago King Piripi explained that the Iwi's military lacked modern equipment. Following the situation in the Alucard with Lodja several of the Commonwealths special forces were involved however in reviews of the conflict it was explained that the military were concerned if they'd had to take on a role similar to that of the Morelanders and Cenneg. Following the CNV Art arriving in Hunters Bay it was confirmed that the ship will be renamed the Hapa. One concern for the armed forces would be which aircraft could operate off the new carrier however it was later observed that during operations in the Matildas several Moana (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackburn_Buccaneer) fighters operated off the CNV Cetchathach which is the same class of carrier. The aircraft however is aging and the Ministry of Defence have confirmed that a replacement will be sought in the near future.
The Arawa will be anchored in Hunter's Bay and turned into a museum ship. The vessel was originally part of the Seleucid Navy but was abandoned while in dry dock and Commonwealth forces captured Hillslet where it was being refitted. The vessel has been involved in several actions in the Kyne including taking part in a raid on Tamora that freed 62 Maori slaves. T
