His Imperial Majesty Emperor Tielin II. First Emperor of the Shaohua Dynasty

Emperor Tielin II was the Lord of Baoshan until ascending the throne. Baoshan was one of the few Provinces which remained largely peaceful during the period of mourning however he did raise his own militia which was used to defend his own lands until he handed over control of them to the Dragon Priestess and the Imperial Guard. Many believe this show of loyalty to the Empire and the Two Dragons was a key event in him being named as the new Dragon Emperor.

He has a younger brother born in 1984 who is a member of the Academy of Scholars were he teaches Philosophy and Ethics. He also has two younger sisters, one of whom is a Priestess at the Shrine of the Two in Baoshan while the youngest of the pair is married to an Imperial Knight. Tielin had been High Lord for  ten years following his father's death in an attack by a bandit group trying to sabotage a railway line through his province. Tielin spent much of his youth under the tutorlidge of his father in preparation for Imperial Service and sat upon various councils as both an Imperial Knight and taking his father's position for various debates in the The Grand Council of the Majestic Empire.

He is 43 years of age was born in 1977  and has been married since 1998 to Empress Jing and has three children, Prince Chun (born 2004), Princess Wenjun (born 2007) and Prince Daoming (born 2014).

The Most Serene Dragon Priestess Xi Mengyao
RL- chen yuqi

Born in 1992 within the  Sanctum of the Two Dragons. She is the eldest daughter of the previous Dragon Priestess and Imperial Knight Wang Geng. She inherited the position of Dragon Priestess in 2010 when he mother died. She effectively brought an end to a period of war between several High Lords by increasing the size of the Imperial Guard and instructing her father to impose what was in effect martial law on the Empire. This was supported by several other High Lords including Tielin who she named as Dragon Emperor.

She is known to be a very well read scholar and would often often entertain several well respected scholar for dinner at the Sanctum of the Two Dragons. Her willingness to use the Imperial Guard has seen many of the nation refer to her as the Warrior Priestess despite the fact she did not carry a weapon herself during the conflicts.

Her Imperial Majesty Empress Jing. First Empress of the Shaohua Dynasty

Born in 1979 she is the grand-daughter of the High Lord of the Province of Fuyang, Zheng Jin. She married the Emperor in 1999 despite their marriage having been arranged for several years previously.

She is the mother of three children Prince Chun (born 2004), Princess Wenjun (born 2007) and Prince Daoming (born 2014).

Since becoming Empress she has introduced new rules for the Golden Enclave that no girl may be forced to marry and can not have children until they reach at least their 15th birthday. She imposed this after witnessing girls as young as 12 struggling to give birth in the Enclave because of what she sees as antiquated rules on marriage.

His Excellency High Councillor the Lord Kexing
High Lord of Rizhao

Born in 1939 in Rizhao he is the oldest and longest serving of the High Lords.

He was brought up by his grandfather on tales of the last Dragon Emperor before they entered the period of mourning. His father and grand-father passed away within six months of each other from cholera.

He believes that the Feudal order is vital for controlling the nation and should take precedent above all else. He was appointed High Councillor after demonstrating a keen sense of morality in a Grand Council meeting to determine the fate of those High Lords who rebelled against the Dragon Priestess.

Azure Dragon Queen Dandan the First
Lady Dandan of Hohot (former Title)
RL:-Nan Sheng

Born in 2004 she is the eldest daughter of the disgrace High Lord of Hohot. She was taken by the Dragon Empress following her father's surrender to the Imperial Guard in 2017. Since then she has been kept under guard within the grounds of the Sanctuary of the Two Dragons while her fate was determined. She had convinced herself that she would be forced into the Priesthood which she resented however she did engage effectively in her studies under the scholars there and was thought likely to make an excellent Priestess. She has publically renounced her father since the uprising. She has however had little contact with her elder brother Qīnglóng who remained loyal to the Dragon Priestess during their father's attempt to seize power.

She was granted the title Azure Dragon Queen Dandan the First in January 2021

Lady Jihai Huian
RL:-Tian Yi Tong

Born in 2001 she is the eldest daughter of Lord Jihai of Hefei. She has since 2017 been imprisoned in the Sancturory of the Two Dragons after her father rebelled against the Dragon Priestess. Her family were left in dishonour and she has twice been threatened with execution after her mother, who was also imprisoned with her, tried to get them to escape. She did her best to build a relationship with the Dragon Priestess hoping this would see her safety improve however the Priestess did not really approve of her attempts. While imprisoned she has become a respected poet among those who reside in the home of the Dragon Priestess. She had been subject of an arranged marriage however her future husband withdrew from the contract with the Dragon Priestesses permission following the father's rebellion.

Following her fathers disloyalty she was confined within the Sanctury of the Two Dragons as essentially a hostage to prevent further rebellions by her family. The new Emperor determined that her father was to be executed while Huian would become Dragon Emperor Tielin II's first Concubine having been stripped first of her nobility.

His Highness Prince Chun
High Lord of Baoshan
Heir to the Dragon-Throne
RL-Zhang Yijie

In 2004 Prince Chun was born to the now Dragon-Empress Jing and her husband Dragon-Emperor Tielin II. At the time Chun's father was the High Lord of Baoshan and was looking at ways of manovering the province to stay out of the on-going but sporadic clashes between factions trying to take the throne. At the age of eight his father enrolled him in the Shūyuàn of Baoshan despite these Imperial Academies lacking a purpose at that point. His father has done his best to ensure that Chun was educated in both the traditions of Lijiang but also as best as he could in opening his eyes to the wider world. Chun however has lead a rather protected existence with his father surrounding him with soldiers for his protection.

Since the family became the Imperial Family Chun transferred from the Shūyuàn of Baoshan to the most prestigious Shūyuàn in Yansheng which is just outside the capital. He however is not a very competent student in the traditional curriculum of History, Literature, Maths, Science, Philosophy, Law and Theology. The schools ranks all students nation wide with jobs within Imperial Service being offered to those of higher rank first. Following most assessments Chun finishes in the middle to lower band. Chun however he has shown himself to be rather good at practical subjects such as engineering and crafts. To try and bolster his preparations for one day being an active member of the government the Prince has been tutored by several internationally renowned individuals such as Tamoran film maker Samira Hanifnejad, East Moreland's Dr.Marcus Merriman and Matilda Osman and Nya Aland's Jin Odinsson among many others.

Chun has begun to be a child of two worlds. He is torn between the traditions of his homeland and the perceived excitement of the world outside the Empire.

High Lord Li Ki of  Lóngzui
RL- Jack Ma

Born in 1964 Li Ki was the second son of the High Lord of Lóngzui. He had a rather unremarkable youth being somewhat of a Mummy's Boy. His elder brother Zi receieved most of their fathers attention but Ki rather enjoyed being spoiled. In 1982 his mother forbid Ki's father from placing him in the provinces own militia. It was this fact that potentially saved his life as in 1987 both his father and brother were killed within days of each other during skirmishes with militia's trying to seize the Dragon Throne for themselves. As such the province of  Lóngzui passed to Li Ki however it was very clear to the majority of people that it was his mother Elang that ran the province. In order to maintain her grip upon her son and therefore the province Elang had him marry his young 12 year old cousin, Changying in 1988.

Li Ki and his wife have three children, Jin (F, 1991) , Lim (M, 1993) and Zhou (M, 1997).

Li Ki's mother died in 2009 and many people complained that for several years the Province was aimless. In 2011 Lim graduated ranked 4th in the country from the Shūyuàn academy systems and essentially has been acting as the head of the provincial administration with his father lacking the real skills to manage on a day to day basis.

High Lord Jiang Guangtai of Mùgǔ
RL - Hu Ge

Born in 1982 Guangtai became the High Lord of Mùgǔ in 2013. His father had six daughters before Guangtai was born. The young boy excelled in the arts and traditional crafts of his homeland and was considered somewhat of a prodigy in playing the Guqin. In 1998 he began serving in the provincial militia where he served helping patrol the frontier.

He is seen by many as a modern voice in the Grand Council and has already been a significant part of the efforts by Tielin II to reach out beyond the Empire. He helped negotiate the return of art works from East Moreland to the Empire and has built a rather large cultural centre he hopes will be the envy of the other Provinces.

Guangtai is married to Tai, who was a graduate of the provinces Performing Arts Academy. She was a traditional dancer and the pair married in 1998 when they were both 16. They have two children Yazhu (M, 2001) and Qiang (M,2004). Despite having a province that was largely undamaged during the period of mourning and having two sons to carry on the family line Guangtai still regularly seeks advice from his sister  Xiuli (b.1996) who is one of the Dragon-Priestesses inner circle and resident artist.

High Lord Wang Shenchao of  Mànyóum
RL - Li Guangjie

Born in 1977 he inherited control of the province in 1997 at the age of 20 following the death of his father from a long term illness. Like most young men from Mànyóum he is a devoted horseman and proudly boasts of having a stable of in excess of 100 horses of varying types and breeds. He kept his province largely out of the conflicts during the mourning period and as a result they emerged largely unharmed however it has caused many to question whether he will be favoured by Tielin. Shenchao has made great efforts to enforce traditional values upon his family.

In 1992 he married Nuan who is the daughter of an officer in the Dragon-Priestesses militia.  They have four children, Mei (F,1994), Guanyu (Mg,1997), Yijun (M,1999) and Yawen (F,2002).

High Lord Regent Lian Shaohua of Baoshan
RL - Du Chun

Born in 1981 Lian is the younger brother of the Dragon-Emperor. The pair grew up often spending long periods kept apart by their father for fear of attempts to weaken the family. As such while Tielin was kept largely front and centre of the Provinces affairs Lian was sent to the hills where he was educated among a school traditionally focused on supporting the work of training Priestesses. He excelled at subjects such as History, poetry and philosophy and as such began to mainly become involved in the Provincial civil service. During this time Lian became interested in lands beyond Lijiang.

When his brother became Dragon-Emperor Lian had been splitting time between lecturing in Philosopy and ethics at a University in Baoshan and helping organise the provincial government. When Tielin became Dragon-Emperor he had expected to move full time to working at University however his brother elected to have Prince Chun gain further education before taking on the title of High Lord of Baoshan. As such Lian was made the only High Lord Regent within the Majestic Empire.

He has possibly a fixture of the Grand Council until mid 2022 when Chun is due to finish his education.

Lian is married to Shengyi (b.1983), a minor nobleman's daughter. They married in 1999 and have three children, Zhiyi (m.b.2003), Xiaoting (m.b.2006) and Rong (f.b.2009). Zhiyi is currently serving in the Army, Xiaoting is studying at the Shūyuàn of Baoshan while Rong is under the tutorage of scholars within the Golden Enclave.

High Lord Bai Chai of  Fuyang
RL - Woon Young Park

Born in in 1973 in Fuyang he was the eldest son of the High Lord. He is the elder brother of Dragon-Empress Jing.

He had a traditional upbringing for Fuyang which saw him spend a lot of time on military and martial arts training before spending 6 months working on a rice farm at the age of 14. He was described as a "Below Average" academic and today even struggled with some more complex writing such as legal jargon. He is however a very practical man and has been known to turn his hand to carpentry from time to time.

He inherited the title of High Lord in 2014 following the death of his father. He naturally was supportive of his brother in laws stance during the mourning period and helped Tielin gain the required support to become Dragon-Emperor. He has maintained a close bond with his sister and has also encouraged her to have Prince Chun study more than academic pursuits.

Bai married in 1988 to Shuya, the daughter of a respected academic from Fuyang. They have four children, Haoran (m.b 1990 - Provincial Official)  Ka-fai (m.b 1993 - Artist), Lau (f.b.1997 - wife/mother) and Nan (f.b. 2000 Priestess)

High Lord Zhi-ting Qīnglóng of Hohot
RL - Aarif Rahman

Born in 1997 he is the elder brother of Queen Dandan and one of four children from High Lord Aria's marriage to his wife. However during Aria's rebellion against the Dragon-Priestess during the period of mourning Zhi-ting remained loyal to the Imperial Guard in which he was a trainee. As such when Tielin assumed the throne and the families of the rebellious High Lords were to be punished he had expected to be executed along with his father which is the traditional fate of traitorous families. However with the Dragon-Emperor seeking to change some of the more arcane elements of society it was determined that only those members of the family who actually rebelled would be executed. Zhi-ting and Dandan therefore were spared while his mother was sent into exile in a monastry.

He had upon inheriting the title High Lord changed his family name by order of the Dragon-Emperor. He has however not been permitted to join the Imperial Guard as he had planned and despite being the Queen's brother elects to spend as much time as possible away from the Grand Council instead ensuring Hohot rebuilds following the stigma of the rebellion.

He is married to Pei-pei since 2013 and has one child, Sihung (m.b.2015)

High Lord Li Guanting of Shèngdiàn
Guardsman of the Sanctuary
RL- Michael Hui

Born in 1942 he was the eldest son of the Li family.

As a child he was frequently in trouble for neglecting martial studies to instead paint and play music. He was considered to be removed from the line of succession to the title of High Lord of Shèngdiàn however after consultation with the then Dragon-Priestess his father did not go ahead with it.

Upon reaching his teenage years he had a period of time when he went off the rails by traditional standards and was frequently found trying to woo peasant girls. In 1958 his father married him off to the younger daughter of the High Lord of Hohot in order to try and calm him down. His wife is High Lady Kit-Ying and they have four children, ten grandchildren and a great grand-child. He has however fathered three children with various other women all of whom were daughters and now are members of the Priesthood.

In 1983 he inherited the title following the death of his father. He has attempted to give his children rather more freedom than most families resulting in the province earning rather a deserved reputation for being undisciplined.

High Lord Zhu Fangyu of Hefei
RL - Le Yucheng

Zhu was born in 1963 as the eldest son in a family with a tradition of military service to the Empire. He was educated in a military academy in his home province and graduated in 1979 at the head of his class. He applied to join the militia of the Dragon-Priestess and was accepted and over the next few years distinguished himself in actions helping keep various aggressive factions in order during the uprisings during the time of mourning. He eventually became the 2nd in command of the Priestesses own militia and negotiated the involvement of various Provincial Militia groups in the final few years of enforcing the peace.

Following the end of the mourning period he was granted the title of High Lord of Hefei, a province left without a leader as Hefei's High Lord was executed for rebelling. Hefei was the province that Lady Jihai Huian, now the Dragon-Emperor's Concubine, was from.

In 1980 Zhu married a fellow officers sister, called Xueya, they meet at a feast for the regiment. The couple have four children and a grand-child.

High Lord Chow Ping of Huīyán
RL-Ken Liu

Born in 1977 in Huīyán Ping was the 2nd son of the High Lord's family. He was educated within the Shūyuàn system from the age of four however failed to graduate as in 1993 his elder brother died of TB followed by his father from cancer a few months later. As a result at the age of 16 Ping inherited the position of High Lord and began fortifications of his provinces borders in an effort to keep forces in rebellion out. In 1994 he contemplated declaring independence for Huīyán however his uncle persuaded him not to. Due to his border defence idea however Huīyán emerged from the mourning period with no problems due to physical conflict.

Despite having no formal education in the subject Ping is extremely interesting in engineering and took a very hands on approach to the construction of border defence, he was even seen several times by his people digging ditches and helping mix concrete. As such he has gained a great deal of insight into engineering projects and has pushed for first Huīyán and now the Empire to undertake more and more elaborate projects.

In 1994 he married a minor nobleman's daughter called Uisun. They have two children (one boy, one girl).

High Lord Zhu Da of Huācodiàn
RL- Leon Dai

Born in 1966 Da was the first of six children born to the High Lord of Huācodiàn. He was educated largely by his uncle whom he was named after and who was a respected scholar in philosophy and court service. Along with his cousins he lived in a large extended family of around fifteen children under the stewardship of his uncle. He was considered a bright student and showed particular flair in mathematics. In 1984 he went to University to study Mathematics and graduated ranked 10th in the nation in 1987. He began working within his family as a tax collector and then as a Town Governor in preparations for one day taking control of the Province. In 1993 however the Province saw some rebel activity and Da was part of a force that put this rebellion down.

In 2002 Da's father died and he inherited the Province. He helped the Dragon-Priestess as part of her council and was at one point considered by her to be the new Dragon-Emperor however was not given the role due to omens indicating that he would not bring prosperity to the throne. As such he immediately swore an oath of loyalty to whoever the Dragon-Priestess picked.

In 1984 he married Bao who is the daughter of a distant cousin of the family. They currently have three children (two female, one male).

High Lord Jiang Ru of Hézhun
RL - Han Kuo-yu

Born in 1957 Ru was the eldest child and only son of the High Lord of Hezhun. He has six younger sisters, one of whom is a Custodian of the Golden Enclave meaning she is responsible for helping run the settlement along with the Dragon-Empress. He was exposed to management of the Province from an early age having been given control over a silk farming village in 1968. He made a great success of the project, largely because of the mentorship of a the civil servant Taizong. The two went on to work together until 1977 when Ru entered service in the militia for two years. During this time he was injured in the arm during fighting.

In 1979 he returned to working for his father managing the estates responsible for supplying the local Temples. Once again he made great reforms and improvements to the farming system working with Taizong. In 1983 however Taizong died of illness and many expected the systems they had put in place to fall apart however it appeared with hindsight that Taizong had been holding back Ru's more demanding side and he soon began increasing quotas and made the province one of the most productive.

In 1998 Ru's father died and he inherited the Province. He realised quickly that the period of mourning needed to end and so put his province to work ensuring the forces loyal to the Dragon-Priestess could put down rebellions as they happened. As a result his sister was placed into position effectively running the Golden Enclave until a Dragon-Empress was selected. Ru was briefly considered for Dragon-Emperor however in 2018 he was involved in a scandal by taking a mistress and fathering a child with her. As a result the Dragon-Priestess effectively disqualified him from the position.

Ru married in 1973. His wife, Wende, is the daughter of a minor landowner within the province. They have five children and two grand-children. Ru has given official acknowledgement to his bastard child and paid to have them educated within the Shūyuàn system

High Lord Huan Chang of Gāodì
RL - Mat Yeung

Born in 1980 he was the second son and the third of five children to the High Lord of Gāodì. He was educated in the Provinces military academy until the age of 16 and in 1996 joined the national military in hopes of showing the families loyalty to the Dragon-Priestess. He served in the military police and in 2000 gained entry into their special investigations division, what is essentially a SWAT team.

In 2000 he also married the daughter of the head of the Military Police, a girl called Taimu. They had a son (Gaozong) in 2003 and a daughter called Jincheng in 2005. Taimu died during childbirth in 2010 giving birth to what would have been their second son.

In 2008 Chang became High Lord of Gāodì and resigned his full time commission in the military. He however retained reserve status and has largely been involved since 2011 with training new recruits.

Since the death of his wife Taimu he has earned a reputation for being somewhat of a playboy taking numerous mistresses. His sisters have attempted to convince him to re-marry however it seems that he is content to live the single life for some time.

Since Tielin became Dragon-Emperor he has become the de-facto Minister of Defence and is part of the panel that advises the Dragon-Priestess about her own militia forces.

Bao Yijun
RL- Zeng Keni

Born in 2001 in the Province of Baoshan she is the youngest of a family of eight children. She has five brother and two sisters. Her father is a Banner-Man[1] for an area known as Luocun. Like with all Lijiangian noble families she was educated at home until the age of 11 by a tutor who visited the family and along with ten other girls from Luocun. After the age of 11 she was contracted to marry the son of another Banner-Man when she reached 14. A bride price was set for her. Having finished what was expected to be her formal education, which for girls consisted of mainly music, dancing and domestic management and skills, she wished to develop more and with her father's blessing would walk two miles each way to perform duties at the areas largest Temple. While there she stood out for her singing and dancing and as a result the Temple's Priestesses took the young girl under their wing and continued her education. By the age of 14 she was able to read and write well enough to write letters on behalf of the Temple thanking those who gave gifts and asked for blessings.

In 2015 she was expecting to marry however her betrothed grooms family had fallen on hard times and had failed to raise the bride price thus the contract was nullified. Yijun was not to worried by this as she had never meet the man she was due to marry. With the marriage contract formally terminated her father began looking for another match for her. By now she had begun to earn admiring glances for her beauty and was also a regular performer at Temple rituals. As a well educated young woman of reputed great beauty and elegance her father was approached by a large number of would be suitors. In 2016 her father settled on her marrying the son of a Lord from the North of the country. The pair had been in deep negotiations for several months and an agreement made. On the 16th June 2016 Yijun travelled to the coast to marry, however upon arrival it seemed the Lord had overplayed his holdings and wealth and was actually unwilling to pay the high bride price they had agreed. Hoping that Yijun's father would be happy to have his daughter marry a Lord and having travelled so far during the conflicts that wracked the Empire at that time the Lord tried to negotiate a new lower price. As a man of principle Yijun's father refused and the family returned home.

Since then it has been hard for Yijun's father to find a willing husband as two failed marriage contracts gave people the impression of his family be awkward to deal with. This did not concern Yijun who used her time to further embed herself as an aide at the local Temple. She began contemplating asking her father to let her train as a Priestess.

In 2021 however Yijun's father made the decision to send her to the Golden Enclave when Dragon-Empress Jing announced that the Imperial Family were looking for eligible noble girls to be future mothers for the Imperial Family. She was encouraged by her father but not forced and upon arrival gained much attention at court. Being tall for a female from Lijiang and with her dancing teaching her grace and elegance of movement she had several noble families enquire with the Dragon-Empress about marriages if she was unsuccessful. Out of the girls who were part of the process she was the only one that Jing believed was suitable to be part of the Imperial Family however with the other girls now being found roles in the Enclave or having marriages arranged by the Imperial Family her fate is yet to be decided.

She has a guilty pleasure that even her parents do not know about. She has over the years collected a scrap book of pictures of places on Mundus that she wants to visit, little does she realise though that many of the images she has collected are some forty or so years out of date having come from a collection of magazines brought by Christian missionaries to Lijiang in the 1970's and left in the attic of a building that later was taken over by the local temple. Yijun would climb into the attic as a young girl and being unable to read the words of the foreign language would just look at the pictures. Her scrap book is kept in a secret hidden spot at her family home.
