The project will see co-operation between four nations from the offset but will also include inputs from nations outside SUN should it be deemed appropriate. The initial composition of the project is that the following is provided by the organisations listed below.

Airframe - Urzal Aviation (Drenovia)
General Electronics - Pearlfield (Paracambi)
Engine - Lucin (Cassiopeia)
Sensors - Pearlfield (Paracambi)
Survival Systems - Tuxfa (Chistopol)
Software -  Isoldine (Chistopol)
Avionics - Urzal Aviation (Drenovia)
Batteries - Egruk (Drenovia)
Weapons Systems -  Hera Armaments (Cassiopeia)

LUCIN COMPLETE FIRST ENGINE TEST

At their test site at Foloi the Cassiopeian aeronautical company Lucin have completed the first test of the engine expected to be utilised in Project Zarptica. The test saw an engine put through its paces in a variety of modes and temperatures. The engine, known as the CFE-0001, was deemed to be "on target" to produce the required amount of power for the projects needs. It marks the first of several landmarks that will need to be completed before the project can become a reality.

Hera Armaments begin missile tests

Cassiopeian based Hera Armaments have today released the first footage of what they hope will become Project Zarptica's specialist air to air missile system. Known at the moment by a less than catchy name of "Project 0873" the missile at first glance seems vastly different to other missiles of this role.

Project 0873 will feature a rectangular projectile that is different from the general cylindrical projectile air-to-air missile, and the warhead is also rectangular. It also applies ultra-long side strips and wing body fusion technology, so that not only the missile obtain better stealth capabilities than currently avaliable missiles it will reduce the probability of being detected by enemy fighters missile warning devices thus increasing the attack success rate. The unique shape will also enable the missile to obtain greater lift coefficients and as a result have a longer range.

Currently larger than final production scale models are being test flown and have shown promising results in comparison to more traditional missiles.

PEARLFIELD COMPLETE SENSOR TESTING

Paracambi based Pearlfield have today successfully completed the testing of what is hoped to be the new sensor suite for the proposed Project Zarptica aircraft. A modified F-20 Loggerhead has completed a number of test exercises using a suite of electronic sensors including targeting systems, terrain following radar, electronic warfare modules and threat analysing systems. The whole package contains several key systems beyond those announced however a spokesman for Pearlfield says the exact nature of these are "classified". The spokesman did however say that the system "performed above that required for the specification and will provide all four militaries a fantastic capability that will last long into the future."

It is now expected that the F-20 used for the test will fly to Cassiopeia where the system will be integrated into the Zarptica systems being put together there.

Urzal Aviation have today confirmed that the airframe of the Zarptica project has been signed off as ready for combining with other parts of the project. A scaled remote controlled version of the aircraft has shown "Promise" according to one of the companies spokesman. The aircraft will now await input from  the three partner nations before a full scale version is constructed and flight tests take place.

Isoldine complete tests and Tuxfa hit landmark

The Chistopol based company Isoldine have completed the test of the software designed for the Zarptica Fighter project. The system was fitted to a F-3 Fantomex fighter and completed 100 hours of successful flight. The software will manage all the systems of the aircraft and is the first international collaboration.

Meanwhile Tuxfa have successfully tested ejector seats and other survival equipment which will be used for the project. This development marks a landmark in the Zarptica project as over half the developments required have now been tested individually.

Konitsa has today welcomed technicians and engineers from across the membership of SUN. The town in Southern Cassiopeia is home to the Air Force's central school of Aviation Engineering and will be used by the seven companies involved in the future fighter project to construct the first full scale prototype of the Zarptica Multi-Role Fighter. The Queen of Cassiopeia welcomed the foreign visitors saying, "This is an ambitious multi-national project that I'm excited to see the results of. The parts I've seen from here in Cassiopeia so far make me happy. I've read about the other parts and I hope they find our facilities welcoming."

The project began after Drenovia expressed an interest in developing a carrier capable modern fighter however it is also now confirmed that a non-carrier version will also be produced. The initial design featured folding wing tips for carrier storage however it is now expected that the non carrier version will feature a solid wing. The full scale prototype will conduct a series of milestone tests before the aircraft can go into full production. It is expected that each nation will be given an initial license for a set number of aircraft with any going above that quota seeing additional fees paid to the companies developing it. The exact nature of the final arrangement though has not been confirmed yet.

Today the Zarptica Multi-Role Fighter did its first runway test. The aircraft completed five take off runs but instead of rotating and taking off the aircraft rolled through and taxied back to the start of the runway. The aircraft was constantly monitored during the process and technical teams said that they are "happy" with the results. It is expected that the aircraft will now have a short period where the engine and undercarriage are inspected in detail before what is hoped to be the first flight will take place late next week.

ZARPTICA TAKES TO THE SKIES

Today the fighter project known as Zarptica took another step towards success. The aircraft had previously undertaken several ground tests and runway trials today however marked the crucial moment when the aircraft first took to the skies. The Konitsa Air Force base is home to the Central School of Aviation Engineering and is based in Southern Cassiopeia. The aircraft took off, climbed to 1000feet and completed three touch and go landings before the test ended. A spokesperson for the project said, "While this is a very basic test it marks a key milestone as we now have seen the aircraft complete flight in its own right. We'll now undertake longer, higher and faster tests before beginning combat testing."

Over the last few weeks the Zarptica fighter has been surpassing milestone after milestone. In the last seven days the fighter has reached an altitude of over 20,000 feet , achieved a speed in excess of Mach 1 and completed over 200 landings and take offs. The fighter has now also been flown by at least one pilot from each of the nations that are part of the project. The next test will come this Saturday when the aircraft will undertake a simulated combat operation against static targets in the Ardian Gulf.

The Zarptica prototype today conducted simulated training strikes against static targets in the Cassiopeian countryside and then in the Ardian Gulf. The simulation saw the Zarptica undertake the same test runs as a F-35 Alecto from the Celestial Air Force. The pair of jets scored similar scores on the test and the test pilots explained that the Zarptica handled well. The final hurdle is now simulated air to air combat and then a simulated strike mission carried out by a pair of Zarptica. It is expected this will happen in the next few days.

ZARPTICA READY FOR ACTION
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Over the past few days test pilots from the four S.U.N nations have been conducting intensive tests on the Zarptica in simulated aerial combat in a variety of scenarios against the current fighters employed by S.U.N nations air-forces. The aircraft has performed exceptionally well and according to Flt.Lt Theo Constaniopuls of the Cassiopeian Air Force "passed all tests with flying colours." The final hurdle having now been passed manufacture of the aircraft can begin. Details of how many each nation shall construct is yet to be formalised however Queen Atalanta of Cassiopeia has stated it is her intent to see at least 35 of the aircraft enter service.

While the project was developed with the intent of being carrier capable it is thought capable of carrying out such operations however as of yet has not completed any carrier trials. The current aircraft will enter production in two sub-types, Type A will be a standard multi-role fighter while Type B will be given slight modifications to give a slightly longer range and will be equipped with sensors for a more likely strike fighter role. The breakdown of which types Cassopeia will receive has not however been disclosed.

It is likely that other joint SUN military projects will take place in the near future following the apparent success of this one. There have also been indications of foreign governments keeping a watch on the project suggesting potential for export sales.
