HALYCH TO HOLD REFERRENDUM ON RESTORATION OF MONARCHY
The Bold Marshal Lysenko has confirmed that Halych will hold a referendum regarding the restoration of the monarchy. This comes as a result of a significant portion of the White Forces during the Halychian Civil War being made up of those with monarchist sentiments, which has led to many calling this a compromise of sorts with those within that wing of the League of National Salvation. Nonetheless, the Vozhd was quick to dispel any rumors that he was forced to make this decision, with it instead being done as a gesture of good-will towards those who loyally backed him during the war.
The Monarchy of Halych was formally abolished on August 16th, 1972 with the execution of the nation's last Korol', Vladislav IV Skoropadsky, alongside his wife, Queen-Consort Ludmila, and his firstborn, Borys. If the referendum passes, it is expected that his second son, Nikita, will be crowned as the nation's new Korol', perhaps as Nikita II, although it remains to be seen if he does take the offer. If not him, then many suspect that a similar offer will be made to
his son, Vitomir, who has served in the White Army during the civil war and has become something of a favorite among those in charge. Nonetheless, the results of this referendum will, regardless of outcome, shape the nation as a whole, as will the elections set to follow them. The referendum is set for the end of this month, likely being held no earlier than the 26th. Elections will be held in March, with Marshal Lysenko opting to run for office.
