Policies | Stance |
Drugs Law | All drugs are allowed and substance abuse counseling is available for those who need it. However, crime committed under the influence of drugs (including alcohol) generally received double the normal penalty. |
Same Sex Marriage | Marriage is only defined as a binding contract between two individuals. No other provisions exist, save for normal consent laws. |
Education | Education is considered compulsory until the age of adulthood, but it is often not enforced after primary education has been completed. Students are encouraged to complete their secondary education and continue to tertiary education, with grants given to excellent students. Primary and secondary education are free and tertiary education is subsidized for students who meet the necessary requirements. |
Property Ownership | Varies from kingdom to kingdom, but all men may inherit. Women are restricted from inheriting (by various degrees) except in Taurn Ken and Verazueth. Women are considered property (to a minor degree) in Liinaw in that they must have permission from their fathers to become an independent legal entity in adulthood; this is a remnant of the old patriarchy that is slowly being eroded away. |
Voting | Only citizens of Taurn Kern may regularly vote as the kingdom is considered a constitutional monarchy. All men may vote in administrative matters that affect Tauredalia as a whole (generally administrative positions) while women may be restricted in their home territories based on local laws. Even women in Verazueth may face problems despite the kingdom being an absolute primogeniture. |
Prostitution | Legalized nationally, though frowned upon in Liinaw. Historically, women have found greater independent in prostitution than in other civil sectors. |
Freedom of the Press | Generally upheld, though lèse-majesté laws are complicated as criticizing the ruling king may be seen as attacking his respective state. Criticisms of Tisnal or local administrative bodies is allowed and generally preferred as one can indirectly also criticize the monarchs. |
Freedom of Movement | Passports are no longer required to move within Tauredalia and visas are issued upon entry. These visas expire after 90 days. There is no restriction on leaving the country. |
Abortion | Legal in all cases, though a Liinaw woman may need to seek permission from her father or partner unless the procedure is a medical necessity |
Health Care | While healthcare is universal, the standards leave something to be desired. Specialized healthcare is beginning to pop up across all kingdoms, with patients now transferring to receive specific care rather than generalized. |
Gun Laws | Citizens may own firearms but must obtain a permit to use or carry them. |
Internet Neutrality | Like the press, the internet is unrestricted. There was a movement to make internet access a right in 2014, but the effort was sabotaged by private providers when they temporarily lowered prices. Prices returned to normal in 2017. |
Business Ownership | Any citizen that is a legal independent entity may own and operate a business. Foreigners are encouraged to invest in local businesses, but they are discouraged from outright owning them. |
Marriage | Marriage is only defined as a binding contract between two individuals. No other provisions exist, save for normal consent laws. Individuals may enter polygamous arrangements so long as all parties sign off on the marriage contract. A polygamous marriage is also the only time a Liinaw woman is defined as her own legal entity, regardless of other legal standings. |
