Title: Rugby World Cup 2019 OOC
Post by: Achkaerin on October 24, 2019, 10:20:06 PM
Rugby World Cup 2019

Back for the fifth time is the Mundus Rugby World Cup (which is most likely the most hotly contested trophy on Mundus). Last year saw the Iwi win their first World Cup, the same tournament also saw the biggest upset in Mundus Rugby history when the seemingly invincible Honeybadgers (East Moreland) fell to Lodja.

Ok serious stuff, as per the usual sports sign ups state in this thread if you want to enter your nation into this - all hosting bids to be posted by the 3rd of November please, following which there'll be a vote for hosting which I'll explain if one is needed. The full explanation of the bidding process is below.

Bidding Process

The bidding process requires nations wishing to host to submit requested information, what information is dependent on the event in question. There will be a deadline set for bid submissions. any bids entered after that date will not be considered unless the vote has not opened. As you can probably guess from that sentence once bidding closes there will be a vote conducted by vote this will not be in the form of a poll but in the form of a post in this topic (this is to ensure fairness of the vote)

So with that in mind the following is the criteria for the Rugby World Cup bids

Also a word of advice to those wishing to host. It has been brought to my attention that we've had an awful lot of "Image Parade Bids" of late i.e. bids which amount to venue pictures and a fairly generic letter. Therefore I strongly encourage all those who wish to host this competition to "Sell" their nations in terms of why they are the best host for it and to think about the legacy factor i.e. what will the lasting impact of your nation hosting the tournament be?

If permissible, Floodwater would like to send a team.  If not, then Tytor will send a team composed entirely of Floodwaterians.

The nations of Ui Cenneslaig and Cantabria wish to jointly host the next instalment of the rugby world cup. While rugby ranks as the third most popular sport in both nations (following Gaelic Football and Hurling) it is one that enjoys huge support on a regular basis. We believe that a combined bid will allow our nations to showcase our nations hospitality while providing athletes and spectators with a first class experience.

The following stadiums shall be utilised during the competition.

Canan Park (Claith) 82,500- To host the final and one semi-final. The stadium is traditionally the home of hurling and Gaelic football in Ui Cenneslaig and is considered by many to be the spiritual home of the two sports. The stadium sits in a residential area of Claith which comes alive on match days as locals rent out their gardens for pop up bars and restaurants.

Cantabria National Arena (Edenwell)72,332 - To host one semi final and the Bronze medal match. The stadium sits on the edge of parkland in the capital of Cantabria. The park on match days is used as a fan park hosting entertainment both before and after the games.

The Riverside (Aberdown) - 71,373 - The Cenneg city of Aberdown has a major river flowing through and the stadium sits a few hundred meters from it. The stadium is on the edge of the city however a large number of river taxis and ferries make sure transport to and from the stadium is smooth and easy.

The Glendale Stadium (Hapfield) - 50,817 - The stadium of Cantabria national rugby champions it sits in an old industrial park in the city. The industrial park has seen much of its operators leave over the last ten years however a plan in place to develop the park for recreation will be spurred on by the world cup if successful.

Maidenhead Field (Glenrothes) 46,734 - One of the newest stadiums in Ui Cenneslaig. It is primarily used for hurling. The stadium sits on top of the original Maidenhead Field which was the first purpose built Hurling stadium in the country, and possibly the world. It was renovated ten years ago and is the most modern stadium being used.

Thurrock Arena (Williamtoun) 27,483 - The smallest stadium to be used by the tournament is in the Cantabria town of Williamtoun and the home of the oldest rugby club in either Cantabria or Ui Cenneslaig. The stadium is also used for some football matches and has a small museum for Soccer in Cantabria attached to it.

To the members of the Rugby Community

The nations of Ui Cenneslaig and Cantabria are the perfect choice for a rugby world cup. Rugby is a sport that shares many similarities with our national past-time of Gaelic Football and as such has been embraced by both our peoples. The Celtic spirit is a perfect match for the sport and to play host. As a people the Celts are renowned for our love of the "craic" the love of socialising, enjoying good music, hearty food and a good drink. Things rugby fans visiting either nation can expect to experience first hand. Our nations are well developed in terms of major airports with both capitals, Aberdown and Glenrothes boasting airports capable of accepting international flights. Our extensive cross border train system, including the first phases of the Southern Line, are capable of ensuring fans arrive to games on time and in comfort.

Beyond the game of rugby we present a great chance for visitors to explore our country, enjoying our unique culture, visiting sites of interest and taking in a visit to places such as ancient castles, whiskey distilleries, beautiful Loch's and many other sites of natural beauty. It is also our intention to run alongside the world cup a Gaelic Football championship promoting the sport we love as a nation as well as providing spectators with other experiences. This tournament will feature Under-18 teams from our nations and thus encourage more young people into two sports.

The tournaments media production will be run by "Claith 24" one of our nations most experienced media companies and the company with the rights to showcase Gaelic Football in our nation. As such they are large enough and experienced in shooting sports to ensure that fans across the world can enjoy the tournament.

Teams will find an ample selection of hotels capable or providing to their needs. With many isolated rural estates having been converted into hotels or holiday accommodations teams can easily find sites that will enable them to stay in comfort and peace while having plenty of space for training. Fans meanwhile will find plenty of hotels, private rentals and hostels in our nation to ensure fans on any budget can find a place to stay.

Furthermore we believe our nations are a superb choice as we sit on good terms with the vast majority of nations on Mundus and we are delighted to use this tournament to improve relations with those we have yet to meet. As such we welcome all participants and spectators and will do everything within our power to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable stay in our nations while we comply with the spirit of the non-political nature of sport.

Peace on your hand and health to all who shake it.

OOC - Ok annual scrounge for teams over we've got 18 of them and with only one bid there is no need for a vote so we're all going off to UC and Cantabria where we may or may not end up drunk.

Kris you may post the opening ceremony when you're ready, be aware that according to the generated fixture list UC will open against Hassfurt and Cantabria will open against Rokkenjima so I'll let you decide which of those you want to be the opening match of the tournament.
