Cikniye looked at the Vice Chairman - a meeting such as this would never have been permitted under the Kadassa government which had long ago lost its appetite for acting in a way not to Rokkenjima's liking, now however things were going to be different. Lakhzovia would no longer defer to Rokkenjiman interests, a fact that appeared to have been recognised by the swift Rokkenjiman pivot away from the previously 'friendly' relations.

That act alone would provide great material with which to sow distrust of Rokkenjima abroad, it also effectively freed him to pursue a new coalition to counter the Rokkenjiman influence in Mundus.

"I thank you Vice Chairman for the warm welcome. I am greatly humbled to be one of the first world leaders permitted to visit your State, I hope that this will become the first of many such visits and the signal for a future of closer relations between our two nations."

New Coalition Government Announces Division of Ministries

In a historic move signaling a departure from the policies of the past, the newly formed coalition government between the Emetist Democrats and the Lakhzov Home Party has unveiled its division of Ministries, aiming to steer Lakhzovia into a new era of cultural resurgence and robust governance.

The coalition, which emerged victorious in recent elections, reflects the growing desire among the Lakhzov people to uphold traditional values and prioritize national interests. With the Emetist Democrats securing the Education Ministry and the Lakhzov Home Party taking charge of Foreign Affairs, the remaining Ministries of Interior, Justice, Science, Trade, and Defence have been allocated in a manner aimed at fostering collaboration and efficiency.

Heading the Education Ministry will be Miram Laviy, a seasoned educator known for her staunch advocacy of integrating Emetist heritage and values into the national curriculum. Laviy's appointment underscores the Emetist Democrats' commitment to preserving Lakhzovias distinctive identity in the face of globalization.

Overseeing the crucial portfolio of Foreign Affairs will be Davdiv Kahon, a seasoned diplomat with a proven track record in international relations. Kahon's leadership reflects the Lakhzov Home Party's intent to recalibrate Lakhzovias diplomatic stance, placing national interests at the forefront of foreign policy decisions.

The Interior Ministry will be helmed by Yozi Ovran, a veteran politician renowned for his dedication to law and order. Ovran's appointment signifies the Emetist Democrats' emphasis on maintaining domestic security and safeguarding Lakhzov's borders.

Justice Minister Rukhel Iven-Dod brings her expertise in legal affairs and commitment to upholding traditional values to the forefront of the justice system. Iven-Dod's appointment underscores the Emetist Democrats' resolve to ensure a judiciary that aligns with Lakhzov's cultural ethos rights.

Leading the Ministry of Science will be Leniad Nakhon, a distinguished scientist with a passion for advancing indigenous research and development initiatives. Cohen's appointment reflects the Lakhzov Home Party's recognition of the pivotal role of science and technology in driving Lakhzov's progress and innovation and it's important in the ongoing security of the country.

The Ministry of Trade will be overseen by Sara Almigiy, an accomplished economist with a proven track record in promoting domestic industries and fostering economic growth. Almigiy's appointment underscores the Emetist Democrats' focus on revitalizing Lakhzov's economy and enhancing its global competitiveness.

Rounding out the cabinet, the Ministry of Defence will be headed by Mishol Lahash, a decorated military veteran known for his unwavering commitment to national security and defense preparedness. Lahash's appointment highlights the Lakhzov Home Party's dedication to maintaining a strong and capable defense force.

Critics may raise concerns about the coalition's ideological stance, but supporters view it as a necessary step towards safeguarding Lakhzov's cultural heritage and asserting its sovereignty on the global stage. The division of Ministries reflects a concerted effort to foster collaboration and pursue policies that resonate with the aspirations of the Lakhzov populace.

As the new government takes office, it faces formidable challenges and high expectations. Yet, it also presents a golden opportunity for Lakhzovia to chart a course towards a prosperous and secure future, grounded in its Emetist heritage and shared national values.

Tesan Cikniye had arrived in Kusan - the move had been controversial for despite the souring relations with Rokkenjima there had been some debate among his Advisory Group as to whether it was wise to so openly provoke the First Empire; finally the decision had been made that the benefits outweighed the risks, any and all new diplomatic avenues that could counter Rokkenjiman influence were to be investigated.

That is such awful sad news. I don't think there are enough words to say what a tragedy this is for everyone who knew him. Thank you for letting us know. May he rest in peace and his family be comforted in this time.

5
Cikniye listened to what Taika Sevasi had to say. He was momentarily hesitant to agree to join the coalition fearing it might upset the more radical wings of the Lakhzov Home Party but then he realised he could present it domestically as the coalition coming to Lakhzovia begging for assistance - a powerful statement of Lakhzov's perceived strength. He smiled "Lakhzovia values stability and the rule of law, we have for some time acted as the guardian of the Peniche, and with our significant fleet power it is only natural that a coalition seeking to secure the Krimeon would benefit from our involvement. I will need to discuss the issue with my Ministers, but I do not believe there will be much in the way of objection to the proposal."

Cikniye regarded the man from Lakhzovia's northern neighbour. For three decades contact between the countries had been non-existent, this opportunity to thaw relations and increase Lakhzovia's influence in the region was not to be missed. Even better the proposed rail link would also serve to fulfill the campaign promise to invest in the rural backwaters.

"I am glad you enjoyed the ceremony, as for your suggestion of a trade link, I believe this would benefit both our countries and contribute to the prosperity of the entire region. I will discuss this with my people and have them set a meeting to coordinate some sort of agreement. Perhaps we could have a signing ceremony when it comes to that, in the spirit of new friendships."

The Empress was to the point, Cikniye appreciated that, of course the primary concern was the fleet basing rights that Kadassa had given in the accords. It was a hard sell to the nationalists who wanted this arrangement to end, however he was not so naive as to think Lakhzovia would benefit from tearing up the Pyrettania-Nakim Accord.

"Empress I thank you for your kind words, whatever the fates have in store for us time will only tell. I appreciate your candidness, the Pyrettania-Nakim Accords are of course one of our most important and valued alliances. Though I am afraid that political tempers within the country are not so favourable in regards to the fleet basing rights. The feeling is that as Lakhzovia is not a country that indulges in power projection we have not utilised our fleet basing rights in Rokkenjima, as such the presence of Rokkenjiman ships in Lakhzov ports proves to be quite vexatious due to the lack of reciprocity in practice. Now while we could obviously send ships to sit in one of your ports that seems wasteful, rather I believe a renegotiation of the Accord so that in cases of non-reciprocal usage of rights harbourage fees would apply. I believe if Rokkenjima were to essentially rent the port and rights to dock your fleet there then I could sway enough of the right for it to cease to be an issue."

Cikniye shook Tornike Gachechiladze's hand "Thank you for your kind words. I am honoured to receive you to Lakhzovia. I of course would be delighted to accept the invitation, and I hope this is the beginning of a fruitful relationship between our two countries."

6
Cikniye watched as Albrecht walked away, his parting words ringing in his head. Yes it would be a difficult path to tread, his need to appease the coalition in the legislature while at the same time preventing them from carrying out some of their more outlandish agenda items.

The Rokkenjiman Empress' final words before moving on had been somewhat easier on the ear, the promise of an equal partnership going forward would go some length towards helping him maintain the relationship in the face of hostility from his politic allies, time would tell whether this was just pretty words or a genuine commitment, for the sake of everyone he hoped it the latter.

After the last of the guests had been greeted and seated the events of the day formally began.

A grand military parade wound its way through the bustling streets of Nakim before parading through Independence Square. Forests of Lakhzov Flags fluttered in the breeze along with other colourful flags, each representing the diverse regions of the nation. Marching bands filled the air with spirited melodies, and citizens from all walks of life lined the streets, waving flags and cheering as the procession passed by.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on the terrace of the Presidential Palace which overlooked the majestic square, with President Cikniye standing before a sea of eager faces. The Chief Justice of the Lakhzov Supreme Court administered the oath of office, and as the president solemnly repeated the words, a hushed silence descended upon the crowd. The oath was a symbolic moment, signifying the peaceful transfer of power in a nation that had rarely known stability.

Following the swearing-in, the Chief Medaber of Nakim, the spiritual leader of the Emetist faith, ascended the podium. His voice, resonant and filled with ancient wisdom, offered a profound religious prayer, invoking blessings for the nation and its new leader. The people bowed their heads in reverence, a moment of unity transcending the diversity of beliefs in the country.

Finally, President Cikniye stepped forward, his gaze unwavering as he addressed the nation for the first time as its leader. With a voice filled with conviction he said:

"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed citizens of Lakhzovia, Honoured Guests.

Today, as I stand before you, I am humbled and deeply honored to accept the immense responsibility that you have entrusted in me as your President. Together, we embark on a journey of renewal, unity, and progress—a journey that will define the future of our great nation.

For too long, we have been divided, separated by differences in ideology, belief, and background. But today, we mark the beginning of a new era—a time when our diversity becomes our strength, and our shared vision leads us forward.

I understand the challenges that lie ahead. Our country faces economic disparities that have left many of our fellow citizens struggling to make ends meet. The rural areas, which are the lifeblood of our nation, have often been neglected. It is our duty to bridge these divides, to ensure that every citizen, regardless of where they come from, has the opportunity to thrive.

We also stand at a crucial juncture in our relations with the world. We will engage with the international community while always putting the interests of Lakhzovia and its people first. We will strive for cooperation, not conflict, and build bridges rather than walls.

But let us not forget our heritage. Our cultural identity is what makes us unique, and it is our duty to preserve it for generations to come. We will protect our cultural property, embrace our traditions, and cherish the values that have guided us through the ages.

I stand here today, not as a ruler, but as a servant of the people. I promise to govern with transparency, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to justice. I will seek the wisdom of our diverse nation and work tirelessly to ensure that the hopes and dreams of every Lakhzovian are heard and respected.

In conclusion, my fellow citizens, let us remember that we are one nation, one people, bound by our shared love for Lakhzovia. Together, we will rise above our challenges, and together, we will build a brighter future. With your support, and with the grace of our shared values, we will lead Lakhzovia into a new era of prosperity, unity, and peace.

Thank you, and may the future shine bright upon our great nation."

The crowd in the square below erupted in cheers while a band struck up playing the national anthem after which Cikniye and his guests retreated into the Presidential Palace, up the grand staircase and out onto the roof terrace where refreshments were laid out on tables surrounded by silk cushioned benches under awnings. Fragrant flowers floating in bowls of rose water perfumed the air and a light breeze off of Nakim Bay provided comforting relief from the late summer heat.

Cikniye welcomed his guests to the reception and invited them to refresh themselves. Now would be the time for the real politics, an opportunity to speak more privately with key leaders, and for them to do the same among themselves. Kadassa for all his cunning had always spectacularly failed to understand the inner workings of international relations and how to project Lakhzovia's soft power - Cikniye knew better than to neglect this crucial factor.

(OOC: time to mingle, anyone who wanted to discuss more in detail about projects now's the time)

7
"Mr.President" began the first arrival, Duchess Orlaith. He had been briefed beforehand on the attendees so he was aware of her connections within East Moreland, the Duchess finished her greeting. "I thank you for the congratulations, and let me express how happy I am that you are attending today despite the issues at home. I feel my predecessor always neglected the potential for a strong relationship with East Moreland, both our nations strongly value our traditions and my government intends to put them at the centre of our policies, as such I look forward to future of greater engagement with your country. I will certainly accept the invite to visit Northfort."

The next in line was the man he had been told was Albrecht of Neu Uburzis "Prince Albrecht, I am honoured to receive you, please allow me to welcome you on behalf of the entire Lakhzov people. I believe this is the first time anyone from your country has ever visited in an official capacity?"

Cikniye made small talk with the Prince for the amount of time deemed acceptable before receiving his next guest and her gift of a music box "Your Majesty, I am touched by your words and your gift. While I know there has been historical animosity between myself and your predecessors, I assure you that our partnership with Rokkenjima remains a critical consideration for me. While we speak of new beginnings, know that for my government that merely means the beginning of a new fruitful relationship with Rokkenjima based on mutual respect and equality."

The next guest was the Envoy from the Iwi, after the initial greetings he raised his desire to discuss international treaties. Cikniye recalled his long tenure as Minister for Foreign Affairs, he smiled inwardly appreciating the man's straight to business attitude, it suited him well.

"I of course would be happy to discuss this with you. After the ceremony there will be a formal reception, we can discuss it further there."

The next individual was smartly dressed and spoke with a heavy accent that seemed both familiar and completely alien, he was of course from Neighbouring Preoria. The man spoke "Prime Minister Conway extends his best wishes on the success of you and your coalition. The Republic is looking forward to offering Lakhzovia any assistance it can to support your new government and propagate what we wish to be a productive relationship with our neighbours to the north."

"Lakhzovia is grateful that the Republic has seen fit to formally attend. We recognise that despite being geographic neighbours we have lad a woeful lack of diplomatic contact. I hope to show you that Lakhzovia is a force for stability and peace in our region. While I understand that the Kadassa years were not the best of times, that you are able to be here today to witness the peaceful transfer of power shows that our country has finally reached maturity."

Cikniye had spotted the final guest as he had arrived, he steeled himself and pasted a strained smile on his face as the Achkaerinese Ambassador approached. For his part the Ambassador also looked distinctly as if he would rather be anywhere else.

"Ambassador." said Cikniye fighting to keep the icy tone from his voice "I am so gratified to know that your government not to boycott my inauguration. I know my election can not have been the outcome hoped for in Valtheim, however please know that whatever your view of me, the country of Lakhzovia is more than one man. That is a lesson my predecessor learnt only at the end, however it has always been my guiding principle. Whatever our personal feelings I recognise that improved relations with Achkaerin are in the interest of Lakhzovia, so you need not fear any chilling of the relationship from me."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the Lakhzov Republic

To the Esteemed Prime Minister of Preoria.

The Lakhzov government views with interest your proposal. It has been our past experience that attempts to unify even a small region of Aranye, let alone the entire continent, inevitably fail. However with that being said it has not yet been tried to begin the process with international megaproject.

We are open to discussing the potential for regional cooperation that your proposal raises.

Sincerely

Elad Eshdodi
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Inauguration of President Tesan Cikniye

Cikniye paced around the front terrace of the Presidential Palace in New Nakim's government district. In the middle of the terrace, a few meters back from the central podium sat an ornate golden chair, more a throne really, which was his seat in the upcoming events. Behind that, were serried rows of chairs laid out for various Lakhzov state functionaries and politicians. Finally to the left and right of his Presidential throne were rows of chairs that had been set out for the guests of honour, the various foreign dignitaries and leaders who would shortly arrive to witness the first peaceful transfer of power in Lakhzovia's history.

Snapping out of a momentary lapse of concentration Cikniye became aware of the arrival of the first of his guests.

(OOC: Just assume you were invited, if you want to come make your entrance)

10
"The Kingdom of Rhand remains in support of this agreement. While we recognise some of the ongoing concerns it is our firm belief that this will prove to be the first step towards a more stable and prosperous region."

11
Crown Prince Laurenz of Rhand spoke up "As a close neighbour of Marseille our primary concern is with the continued stability of the country. I firmly believe that the future will see Troyes reincorporated into Marseille, the people have made their feelings clear on the matter and I fear that delaying the fulfillment of these desires has far greater potential to create instability than an orderly withdrawal of Seaforth forces and a peaceful reintegration fully supported by the regional powers.

I am therefore completely in favour of signing the document as it is, perhaps with some additional guarantee of the rights of the Seaforthian minority."

12
"If you would allow me the honour" said President Cikniye stepping forwards and bowing towards the Empress. Noting her apparent surprise he added quietly so as only the two of them could hear "I can perhaps guess your surprise given my electoral rhetoric, but don't worry I have no worries being seen with you, I feel it sends rather a powerful message as to the continued strength of friendship between us."

Lakhzov Election Results Reflect Political Shift and New Leadership

The recent Lakhzov election has yielded significant shifts in the nation's political landscape, culminating in the rise of the Emetist Democrats and the Lakhzov Home Party. These parties will form a coalition government, marking a departure from the previous administration's long-standing rule.

The election results revealed a substantial decline in support for the Lakhzov National Congress Party, which secured less than 10% of the popular vote. In contrast, the right-wing religious Emetist Democrats garnered the most votes and 41 seats in the national assembly. The Lakhzov Home Party secured the second-largest share of the vote, with 25%, earning them 34 seats. This coalition, with a total of 75 seats, surpasses the majority threshold of 68 out of the 135 available seats.

President Kadassa, who had been in power since the nation's independence in 1987, faced a resounding defeat, losing his re-election bid. The presidency was secured by former Minister for Foreign Affairs Tesan Ciknije, supported by the Lakhzov Home Party and the Emetist Democrats. Ciknije's victory reflects a significant shift in the nation's political leadership.

Notably, the Democratic Alliance, which was expected to perform more strongly, secured 32 seats, falling short of predictions. Critics have attributed this underperformance to factors ranging from voter sentiment to campaign strategies.

Editorial: New Coalition Paves the Way for Lakhzovia's Cultural Resurgence

In a resounding victory for Lakhzov's traditional values and nationalist ideals, the Emetist Democrats and Lakhzov Home Party have joined forces to form a coalition government, heralding a new era of cultural resurgence and robust governance. This historic collaboration stands as a testament to the aspirations of millions who yearn to uphold the rich emetist heritage and put Lakhzov's interests at the forefront.

The formation of the Emetist Democrat-Lakhzov Home Party coalition is a landmark moment that encapsulates the voice of the silent majority, tired of being ignored in favor of a liberal agenda that disconnected from Lakhzov's deeply rooted traditions. The Emetist Democrats' manifesto, focusing on bringing religion and cultural heritage back to education, strikes a chord with those who believe in preserving the nation's distinctive identity in the face of globalization.

The Lakhzov Home Party's commitment to dismantling the Utman Autonomous Region demonstrates a dedication to unifying the nation and promoting a sense of shared identity. Their stand on reintroducing national service harks back to a time when civic responsibility and discipline were valued, and these principles are set to revitalize the spirit of Lakhzov society.

The coalition's promise to readjust Lakhzovia's relationship with the Rokkenjima Axis represents a significant departure from the previous administration's submissive stance. The right-wing government is taking a decisive stand, placing Lakhzov's interests first in diplomatic relations. The commitment to developing an independent, muscular foreign policy emphasizes the need for self-reliance and resilience in the face of global challenges.

Critics might label this coalition as far-right or even fascist, but it is important to recognize the positive aspects that it brings to the table. By embracing nationalism and upholding cultural heritage, the coalition resonates with citizens who value their unique traditions and want to safeguard them for generations to come. The willingness to suppress the Tikkonist religious movement is an essential step to maintain the cultural and religious harmony that defines Lakhzovia.

Ultimately the formation of the Emetist Democrat-Lakhzov Home Party coalition signifies a paradigm shift in Lakhzovian politics, reflecting the aspirations of a vast populace that cherishes their cultural identity, values, and the nation's sovereignty. This is a golden opportunity for Lakhzov to reassert itself on the global stage, presenting a strong, united front that celebrates its emetist heritage while charting a course for a prosperous and secure future.

Market Volatility Ensues as Lakhzov Election Results Raise Economic Uncertainty

The outcome of the Lakhzov election has sent shockwaves through the economic landscape and as the dust settles on the political shift, experts are grappling with the potential economic ramifications.

In the aftermath of the election, financial markets have experienced a wave of uncertainty, causing a notable fall in stock prices and other market indicators. Investors are responding to the newfound political dynamics, with concerns over the coalition's policy direction and potential impacts on the economy at large. The uncertainty surrounding the implementation of new economic policies and the realignment of international relations has prompted a cautious approach from market participants.

The coalition's plan to recalibrate Lakhzovia's relationship with what they disparagingly refer to as the 'Rokkenjima Axis' has left economists concerned about potential trade disruptions. A shift in diplomatic priorities may result in trade policy changes that could impact existing partnerships and international agreements. As the government charts a new path in international relations, some experts worry that uncertainties about policy changes and potential isolationism could lead to reduced investor confidence. This, in turn, might hamper foreign direct investment and economic growth.

As markets react to the aftermath of the Lakhzov election, the economic impacts of the Emetist Democrat-Lakhzov Home Party coalition's policies remain uncertain. While the coalition's emphasis on tradition and nationalism has resonated with many, it remains to be seen how these policy directions will shape the nation's economic trajectory in the coming months and years.

End of an Era: President Kadassa's Long Reign Comes to a Close

In a historic turn of events, President Kadassa, who has been at the helm of the nation since its declaration of independence in 1987, has been ousted from power, marking the end of an era in the nation's political landscape. The departure of a leader who has shaped the nation for decades brings both reflection on his legacy and anticipation for the future.

President Kadassa's reign, spanning over three and a half decades, has seen the country through tumultuous periods of transformation, economic growth, and international engagement. He was at the forefront during the nation's arduous journey to independence and the subsequent establishment of its governance structures. Kadassa's leadership played a pivotal role in steering the country towards modernization and development, cementing his legacy as a figure of historical significance.

While his leadership brought about notable accomplishments, President Kadassa's prolonged tenure was not without its challenges and controversies. Critics point to concerns about democratic transparency and political freedoms during his regime. The concentration of power and his tight grip on governance structures have led to debates about the erosion of democratic checks and balances.

The decision to grant autonomy to the Utman Autonomous Region after a civil war remains a contentious issue, with some perceiving it as a betrayal of national unity and interests. This move stirred nationalist sentiments and contributed to the political polarization that ultimately led to his electoral defeat.

The results of the recent election, which saw Kadassa's loss of power, reflect a changing tide in public sentiment. The emergence of new political forces, combined with evolving social dynamics and a desire for change, has led to a shift away from the familiar leadership of President Kadassa. The electorate's demand for new perspectives and policies, coupled with dissatisfaction with certain aspects of his long rule, ultimately tipped the balance in favor of his opponents.

An Historic Moment of Grace

President Kadassa's decision to acknowledge his electoral defeat marks a historic turning point, particularly given his extended rule since the country's inception in 1987. The nation had been holding its breath, fearing a potential replay of past instances where Kadassa had refused to accept electoral outcomes, leading to tension and uncertainty. However, his willingness to put the nation's interests first and prioritize stability has been met with widespread approval.

Kadassa's swift and dignified concession has served as a balm to those who worried about a potential crisis resulting from a contested election. The move has demonstrated a commitment to the democratic process and the rule of law, reassuring citizens and stakeholders alike that the nation's well-being is paramount.

By avoiding prolonged uncertainty and the potential for political unrest, Kadassa's concession has allowed the nation to pivot toward a smoother transition of power and the implementation of new policies that reflect the collective will of the people.

President Kadassa's departure from power marks the end of a chapter in the nation's history. His long and influential tenure has left an indelible mark on the country's development, shaping its identity and trajectory since independence. As the nation enters this new phase, it must embrace the opportunity for renewal, introspection, and the pursuit of a more open and democratic society that represents the aspirations of all its citizens.

Kadassa made a show of being touched by the welcome. He smiled and nodded in response to the Empress's gracious words before responding "Your Imperial Majesty, thank you for your warm welcome and for the delicious spread. The flight was uneventful, and I am indeed hungry. I appreciate the effort that has been made to prepare Lakhzov cuisine for me. It reflects well on the respect that exists between our two nations."

Kadassa paused for a moment before continuing, "As for my expectations from this meeting, It is no secret that Rokkenjima is Lakhzovia's most important ally; I am here to build on the friendship and cooperation that already exists between our two nations. All can see that as partners our two nations have been key in promoting regional stability, security, and economic prosperity, it is my intention that the special relationship that exists between us will continue to deepen and serve as an example for international cooperation."

Kadassa took a sip of the mead and savored the taste. "I agree, the mead is indeed excellent. However there is a bitterness in that this may be the last time for a while I should be here to sample it. You are no doubt aware of the upcoming election, and I am certain that your analysts known what my own have told me, namely the strong chance that I may not be rightful President for much longer. I wonder therefore what this visit serves you, after all in a month you may have an entirely new government with new priorities to deal with instead of me." he paused and smiled "Unless this visit is some manner of farewell?"

Office of the President of the
Lakhzov Republic

On behalf of the Lakhzov people and government, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your invitation to visit the Imperial Palace. We appreciate your kind gesture and look forward to the opportunity to discuss and strengthen the ties between our two great nations.

I fully agree with your statement that Rokkenjiman-Lakhzov cooperation in the Krimeon is crucial to ensuring regional stability and promoting our joint economic interests. As you mentioned, we share common goals and values, and it is our hope to see our friendship continue to flourish in the years to come.

As the world faces numerous challenges, such as political instability, climate change, and security threats, it is essential that nations work together to address these issues. We fully recognize the value of security cooperation and the importance of maintaining regional stability to promote peace and security globally.

In light of this, we appreciate the invitation to join the Cross-Straits Treaty Organisation and will carefully consider this opportunity. We also look forward to discussing the exclusive deal on rare Mundus minerals and exploring avenues for mutual economic growth and development.

Once again, please accept our gratitude for your invitation, and we look forward to continuing our strong and valued partnership.

Sincerely,

Sachim Kadassa

Rhand's Crown Prince Unveils Bold Reforms, Drawing Both Praise and Criticism

Crown Prince Laurenz Hajioff of Rhand

In a surprise move, The Ardiapur Palace in Rhand has announced a series of significant economic reforms aimed at liberalising its economy and opening it up to foreign investment. The reforms, which were unveiled by Crown Prince Laurenz, have been met with mixed reactions from both domestic and international observers.

Supporters of the reforms have lauded them as a long-overdue step towards modernising the Rhandian economy and boosting its competitiveness on the global stage. The Crown Prince has been keen to emphasise that the reforms will create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, as well as attracting investment from abroad. In particular, the move to reduce tariffs on food imports has been seen as a positive step, potentially increasing the availability of affordable food for ordinary Rhandians.

However, critics have been quick to point out that the reforms also carry significant risks. Some fear that the reduction in tariffs will lead to a flood of cheap imports, putting Rhandian farmers and manufacturers at a disadvantage. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over the potential for foreign firms to dominate key sectors of the economy, potentially leading to the exploitation of local labour and the extraction of profits from Rhand without significant reinvestment.

These concerns are compounded by the fact that Rhand remains an absolutist state with significant inequality, widespread poverty, and underdevelopment being placed in the bottom of the Human Development Index scores for Mundus. Some commentators have warned that the reforms may exacerbate existing tensions, particularly if they lead to widespread job losses or other economic hardships. Others have expressed skepticism over the Crown Prince's ability to push through such radical changes in the face of opposition from entrenched interests.

Overall, the reaction to the Rhandian reforms has been mixed, with many unsure of what the future holds for the country. While some see the changes as a positive step towards a more open and modern economy, others fear that they could lead to increased instability and inequality, further fueling social and political tensions. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether the Crown Prince's vision for Rhand can be realised, and whether the country can navigate the challenges that lie ahead.

Rokkenjiman Navy Rescues Hijacked Ship in the Krimeon

"Rokkenjima has once again demonstrated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the Krimeon Sea. We welcome this successful operation and look forward to continued cooperation with Rokkenjima in future endeavors," stated a government source in Lakhzovia in response to the recent naval action.

The Rokkenjiman Vessel Spirit of Elpidia intercepted and sank a pirate ship southwest of Preoria, freeing 27 hostages and detaining over 100 pirates. The pirates refused to surrender peacefully and opened fire on the Elpidia. The IRN responded by disabling the pirate's ship which was then boarded and brought under tow by the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy.

The crew, mainly Rokkenjiman-Rishiri, are currently being treated in Lakhzov facilities before returning home. The captured vessel, the Sōya, will undergo repairs at Rosa Shipyards before resuming service.

The Krimeon Sea is a crucial body of water for international trade, and both Rokkenjima and Lakhzovia are committed to ensuring its safety and security. Following the incident Rokkenjima has reached out to its Lakhzov counterparts seeking to improve cooperation on future anti-piracy operations and further partnership opportunities in the region.

"This operation demonstrates the importance of regional cooperation in addressing threats to maritime security. Rokkenjima and Lakhzovia share a commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the Krimeon Sea, and this event represents a step forward in furthering their cooperation." stated a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Markets Unsettled at Election Uncertainty

While public election polling is banned in Lakhzovia, results from independent private polls have caused unease in the market with investors concerned of a possible repeat of the political and civil instability that followed the last hotly contested election before the Civil War. While the announcement that international election monitors would be permitted to observe the election has helped slow the decline in the value of the Lakhzov Sheqel investors appear to be waiting for a clearer signal.

The Lakhzov Institute for Economics has issued a warning that "only the full acceptance of the legitimacy of the result, whatever it may be, and a timely, peaceful transfer of power - should it be necessary - will be sufficient to restore confidence to the markets and prevent lasting economic damage."

Cikniye Denies Meeting with Kadassa

Presidential candidate Tesan Cikniye has rejected as "slanderous lies" the claim that he had secretly met with President Kadassa before the electoral register closed to offer a deal in which Cikniye would withdraw his candidature in exchange for restoration to his former ministerial posting as Minister for Foreign Affairs and the release from house arrest of the still incarcerated leaders of the Lakhzov Home Party whom Kadassa had caged as part of his last big purge.

Speaking on the rumours Cikniye said "...such tricks as these are normal for Kadassa, it is how he operates, trying to sow seeds of doubt, to turn people against their allies and brothers. It is a pure attempt at disorienting the public and undermining the sincerity of my campaign. However, I know his tricks and I know that the Lakhzov public too have begun to see them too."

Government Approves International Election Monitoring Mission

The Government today gave approval for an international mission of election monitors to enter the country to observe the proceeding of the upcoming General and Presidential elections.

Responding to claims by the opposition that this move comes as a result of pressure from Argan Tsagarai and his appeal to the Cross Strait Union a government spokesman said "The decision to invite an international monitoring team was the sole decision of the government. The Lakhzov National Congress Party is committed to the complete sovereignty of the Lakhzov government in all matters of domestic and foreign policy, it is not, and never will be, the case that decisions about national matters be dictated by foreign powers or those who believe in the submission of Lakhzovia to some idealised international consensus. Our decision to approving the mission is in order to prevent the opposition from yet again claiming that the outcome of legitimate elections that see the victory of President Kadassa and the Patriotic Bloc is somehow a fraud, and to prevent them from yet again dragging our beloved country into chaos.

While Tsagarai and the opposition factions may try to claim some manner of victory as a result of this decision, the truth remains that this comes not from their unpatriotic machinations, but in order to block them. We proceed in the full belief that when the election returns our government to power that the opposition will have no claim or recourse over the result."

An Appeal to the CSU Regarding Lakhzov Election Monitoring

To the Esteemed members of the Cross Straits Union

I write to you as the leader of the loyal opposition in Lakhzovia on the topic of the upcoming Lakhzov elections.

As will be known to you all previous elections in Lakhzovia have been rife with malpractice, with one such case leading to a disastrous breakdown in civic life and the descent of the country into a period of civil war. It is in the shadow of this event that the current elections take on an epoch making gravity.

If the current elections are, as the current administration promises, to be fair and free then it would represent a significant step in the deomcratisation of Lakhzovia. However, trust in these elections remains shaky among the factions in Lakhzovia. There are widespread concerns of a repeat of past irregularities and in light of these concerns it is felt by myself and the leaders of many factions outside of the current incumbent administration that the only way to ensure that the outcome of the elections, whatever it may be, can only be considered secure and legitimate if it comes with the imprimatur from an international mission of election observers.

So far the government has remained silent in the face of requests for such. As a result I have felt compelled to turn to you, the CSU, to bring pressure to bear upon the current government to accept an observers mission.

I eagerly anticipate your response,

Argan Tsagarai
Leader of the Democratic Alliance

Tsagarai Calls for International Election Monitors

Argan Tsagarai today held a press briefing in which he issued a call for an international team of observers to be allowed to enter the country for the duration of the electoral period in order to monitor proceedings. Speaking from his office in Hurzluriya he said "The admission of Lakhzovia to the Cross Straits Union came under the promise of a reformed country willing and ready to put behind it our politically troubled past. The CSU, along with the wider international community, recognises that the only path to a stable and prosperous future for Lakhzovia is one in which the country is able to engage in the legitimate exercise of democracy, including -  when necessitated by the will of the electorate -  the peaceful transfer of power.

The Democratic Alliance notes that Kadassa and the National Congress Party claim to have brought our society to such a place. We note also that they allowed observers during the last election, who reported no abnormalities. This is encouraging, though we are of the opinion that this was permitted only due to the total disruption of opposition parties, and displacement of sections of the electorate resulting from the civil war.

We therefore call upon the current administration to permit full, free access to an international monitoring team to ensure that the result, whatever it may be, cannot be contested by either side."

The government was approached for comment but as of the time of writing had not replied.

"Well I must say, you are far more attuned to political manipulation than I have given you credit for in the past. Though it must be said your endorsement makes more sense now, my analysts could not understand why you would give backing to Cikniye given his candidacy rests on the support of groups that are determined opponents of Rokkenjima. I suppose there is little harm then of giving you a wider picture of the situation.

Cikniye has always been a man of principle, leaning towards to right of the LNC but never one to endorse the agenda of the Lakhzov Home or Emetist Democrats, he is a pragmatist at heart yet his biggest flaw is that his overriding loyalty is to himself. The truth is that there is no prospect of him ever being elected, the real competition is between myself and Tsagarai and this is known to both him and his backers. Our suspicion is that they are using this as leverage to get what they really want; at some point they will offer his withdrawal from the race in exchange for the release of Shalmi Meira and other Lakhzov Home leaders involved in the last electoral crisis, and Cikniye will demand a new Ministerial portfolio." He paused briefly considering his next words "You are playing a dangerous game here, if your manipulations are revealed then it is likely to harm me a great deal and almost guarantee a victory for Tsagarai... given that his policies align much more closely with your vision of the world what assurances do I have that your ultimate goal is not to see him handed the Presidency? I apologise if I seem overly suspicious, but it has always been my understanding that you would not shed a tear to see the end of my administration."

Kadassa stared at the blinking light on the phone indicating a secure line from Rokkenjima, still reeling from the news of Evanthe's endorsement of Cikniye he hesitated, his hand hovering over the receiver, before answering "Your Majesty." he said icily "I am surprised to receive your call, unless perhaps you mixed up my number with that of Cikniye?"

Parties Announce Presidential Candidates

Political Parties across Lakhzovia have announced their selection to contest the upcoming Presidential election. Keeping with tradition the Axicz National Congress and Lakhzov National Congress Parties united behind the candidature of incumbent Sachim Kadassa, while the opposition bloc of parties which includes the Axicz Liberal Party and Shanata Party have forgone their right to select a candidate of their own, instead throwing their support behind the candidate of the Democratic Alliance – the recently returned Argan Tsgarai.

While National Assembly members belonging to the ruling Lakhzov National Congress, as well as the Lakhzov Home Party had filed emergency court petitions to block Tsagarai’s selection on the basis of his record of sedition and activity counter to the wellbeing of the State the Supreme Court rejected the petition. While the Assemblymen argued that the amnesty extended to Tsagrai was merely a promise against prosecution for his crimes, it was not an exoneration and as such he was not qualified to run for office; the Supreme Court ruled that the offer of amnesty extended as it was from the Office of the President, must be reasonably assumed to have been issued under the Constitutional provision of a Presidential Pardon – and as such there is no legal barrier to Tsagarai’s candidature.

The bigger shock was the announcement by the Lakhzov Home and Emetist Democrat Parties that they were ending their historical policy of support for the LNC candidate and would be putting forward their own candidate to contest the Presidency – former Minister of Foreign Affairs and once close ally of Kadassa – Tesan Cikniye. The move has triggered fury from the governing alliance who have accused the right-opposition of endangering the future of the Republic, a charge to which they responded with the accusation that Kadassa’s economic reforms, cosying up to the international community at the cost of sovereignty, and accommodation with the Utman were the real threat to the integrity of the Republic.

With liberal-left bloc united behind a single candidate, and the nationalist bloc split there are concerns in the government that this election may finally see a victor other than Kadassa. What this would mean for Lakhzovia remains to be seen.

Government Announces General Elections

The National Assembly today voted its assent to the dissolution of the sitting government with a deadline set two months from now. This act is a necessary, and largely symbolic, step required for the initiation of elections and the opening of the pre-election campaigning period.

Elections will be held for the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies, and Presidency. National and Provincial Assembly seats will be filled, as in the past, by vote for preferred party with the winner of a simple majority in an electoral district assigning two candidates of their choice, one to represent the district in the National Assembly, and the other in the Provincial Assembly. The Governor of each Province is appointed by the Provincial Assembly and invited to form a Provincial Administration.

In contrast to this the President will be selected through a direct vote, where the candidate who wins a simple majority being elected to the Office and entitled to form an administration.

Under the terms of the agreement establishing the Utman Autonomous Region, separate elections will be held in parallel in the territory.

Argan Tsagarai Returns to Lakhzovia Following Amnesty

Photo: Argan Tsagarai receives hero's welcome from supporters at Hurzluriya Intl. Airport

Thousands of Democratic Alliance supporters crowded the arrival hall of Hurzluriya International Airport to welcome the return of Party Leader Argan Tsagarai.

Tsagarai greeted the crowds and press who had gathered following his repatriation after accepting the government offer of an amnesty against prosecution for the events surrounding the civil unrest following the results of the last election.

The hotly contested election led to an outbreak of political violence after the Democratic Alliance failed to win, with Tsagarai and party loyalists launching accusations of election rigging; the fallout from which led to spiralling tensions and the outbreak of the devastating second Lakhzov Civil War. In the face of a warrant for his arrest Tsagarai fled Lakhzovia seeking political asylum in the Holy Empire of Achkaerin where he has resided since.

Speaking to the crowd Tsagarai said “With the admission of Lakhzovia into the Cross Straits Union the Kadassa’s government has, by necessity, had to play the part moderation and democracy. It is for this reason that they have made the gesture of extending to me an amnesty. Do not be fooled by this action, the regime remains as regressive as it has ever been, my return is not out of faith in Kadassa and his promises, but rather to hold his government to full account. If Kadassa wishes to portray to the international community that Lakhzovia is a modern democratic nation that respects the rule of law then let him prove it with action. Let us build a healthy, strong political opposition; let us have the debates that we, as a nation, need to have. Let us have fair and free elections with full transparency and the presence of international monitors.”

Conclave of Nomarchs Express Concerns on Royal Agenda

Anonymous polling of the Conclave of Nomarchs has revealed that the majority express some significant concerns in relation to the upcoming issuance of the annual Royal Agenda.

The agenda, the first to be formulated by Crown Prince Laurenz since his beatification, is anticipated to introduce a number of radical new policies in a departure from Rhand's traditional stance of maintaining strong and stable governance. Whilst details on the contents of the agenda are scant at this point, it has been noticed by the Nomarchs that the Prince has widened his pool of advisors beyond the normal courtly circle, seeking input even from commoners. This has generated fears, backed by the Prince's known flirtation with economic liberalisation, that he intends to introduce significant reforms to the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Such reforms are believed to include reducing tariffs on import of food goods, which Nomarchs fear could undermine the domestic agricultural sector as well as plans to make it easier for foreign and domestic firms to set up new businesses in the country which could seriously impact existing businesses, weakinging the country's export base.

The Nomarchs are cautious however, waiting to see the final form of the Royal Agenda before making an official petition to the Palace. Despite this there is a sense of general discontent and an apparent willigness on the part of the Conclave to oppose any radical plans that threaten the stability of the country.

PetroLakh Company to Begin Gas Exploration in Kinoros Basin

The state owned oil and gas conglomerate PetroLakh has been granted a licence by the Ministry of Economy to begin exploration work in the lake Kinoros basin region. The area has previously been noted as a region of interest after initial geological surveys carried out during the 1970s indicated that the area consists of an underlying strata of oil shale. The communist government of the time had considered attempts to exploit the deposit which would have involved extensive mining and processing of the shale to produce petrochemicals and natural gas, this never came to fruition however due to a combination of cost and inefficiency.

However with new technologies such as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, emerging in the past decades, and the increased wholesale price of gas the government is convinced that it is now economically viable to exploit the deposits. As such the exploration licence granted to PetroLakh will allow the company to drill exploratory bores aimed at assessing the condition and viability of the field for commercial exploitation.

If viable widescale development could follow within years providing a much needed boost to the local economy, while also helping to provide Lakhzovia with a stable domestic supply of cheap energy which could provide further stimulus to the economy, and allow an expansion of gas turbine power generation within the country, helping to provide reliable load following electrical capacity which will help ease, or end, the periodic blackouts which plague the country outside of the Nakim Bay region.

While the majority of the Kinoros Basin deposit sits within Lakhzov territory, a part of the formation is known to extend across the border with neighbouring Altona, while the government has remained mute on the topic it is expected that any move towards the full exploitation of the reserve would require some form of cooperative agreement with the Altonan state if diplomatic repurcussions are to be avoided.
