Janna chuckled. "Of course you were here for some science conference, always quite the nerd aren't you? Hell I can't exactly talk either. I mean hell if I wasn't royalty I would probably be some kind of medical researcher or a school teacher." They finally got to the front of the line and were carried off by the chairlift which was gradually taking them up towards the higher peak of the Siyungou Alps.


"So Felix while we're here how is everyone? Also is Alexandra still pissed about the New Years fundraiser last year? I keep telling her that so many of her freinds got stoned off Kodumaan mandragorah whine. I mean I could hardly tell."

Winter has come to Imperium of Kodumaa. The air is dry as bone and the winds are a harsh. The usual winter in Kodumaa is between minus 20-35 degrees Celsius. Today was such a day, the snow completely covered the mountains and highlands of Kodumaas north western region of Siyungou. The region is culturally distinct from the rest of Kodumaa as it is nearest to the Second Imperial Chinese Republic and home to most of Kodumaa’s Buddhist and Taoist people the Khümüüs (OOC: Mongols basically) as well as many Kodumaan born Chinese born of Chinese refugees fleeing the civil war.


The snow town of Tenger Khot of 1.4 million people was known for its tourism, mostly for its mountains and lush hills, in the winter it became a hub for the nations adventurous tourists and nature enthusiast to experience nature and tough it out in the outdoors with various snow resorts and surrounding geysers and camping sites in Kodumaans known frigid tundras.

Such nature tourists included both Crown Princess Yasna Sygvaldi and her older sister Princess Janna Sygvaldi. Yasna wearing black fur clothing with a matching thick fur hat and Janna in white matching the snow outside. The two royals were staying at a resort simply known simply as Royal Suvd Resort, a luxury lodging and cabin settlement in the Suvd Mountains 15 kilometers east outside of Tenger Khot proper.


The two princesses just finished getting settled in their rooms which were opposite eachothers with their security detail nearby.  The two of them where in the lobby downstairs dressed rather casually to not catch attention eating Khuushuur, a type of dumpling with beef mutton filling with garlic, chives and onion common in this part of Kodumaa. Janna wasn’t drinking today; her sister Crown Princess Yasna however was having some shots of Chinese Baiju. “You know sis drinking alcohol like that in temperatures such as this isn’t good for you, you know that right?”

Yasna replied “Relax sis, were on vacation, besides I’ve drank stronger stuff before.” Janna scoffed and responded “Yeah like last year when we were in Yulvitsk and you accidently threw up on me at St Boronsov’s Church?” Yasna signed in frustration “You’re not going to let that go, are you?” Janna was rubbing her forehead in frustration. Yasna’s expression changed to a goofy grin “Holy shit, will you relax, I mean jeez, were in Royal Suvd Resort. A place known for its spas, hot springs and natural geysers around here a plenty and tons of places to ski and snowboard, just loosen up, I mean hell you might even meet some cute guys around this time of year.”

Janna replied “You sound like mum. Are you going to be on my case and try to set me up too and start pressuring me to have grandchildren?” Yasna chuckled “What? No…She does have a point though…I mean you’re what 31 now, you’re not getting any younger. Unlike me who still has her youth an vitality.” She said glibly with the same obnoxious grin on her face knowing how to get under her sisters skin ever so slightly. Janna gave her sister a slight scowl “Wow, ok, well I’m leaving now.”She got up and made proceeded to leave while her sister said “Oh come on don’t leave, we need to go over your retirement, plan, get your affairs in order.” Janna simply ignored her sister while giving her the middle finger while Yasna was smiling the whole time.

Janna made her way to her room and put on her navy blue and while one-piece ski outfit made mostly of waterproof fabrics of nylon, spandex, and wool. She then made her way to the chairlifts with her snowboard waiting in line dressed conventionally to not rase any attention.

The Empress thought about that question for a few seconds "Well the Kodumaan national animal has always been...Well for at least for as long as I can remember been the Kodumaan Grey Bear. Big, powerful yet even tempered and mild mannered. Kodumaa I would like to think is like the Grey Bear, powerful, yet mild and responsible with it's power."

She tilted her head and grinned "Ten years from how? That's a good question. Hopefully the Imperium will be more integrated. Kodumaa will be part of SANE, the CSU, exporting their goods throughout the world. The median household income will be up by 10%, we have a parliament.Although I will probably be in my 70's will probably be focusing on guding my daughter to take the reigns if I decide to abdicate or die; whichever comes first. I would like Kodumaa to resemble more of a constitutional monarchy and secularise my state even further, Kodumaa is a theocratic absolute monarchy, but in order to survive we need to keep up with the times. We have so many different religions and ethnic groups that the only way to maintain our survival is to be more politically pluralistic, culturally thats to the policies of my father many our subjects have been given the same rights as ethnic Kodumaans (Basically Estonians), we have them integrated into the workforce and have more representation at least on a regional level, but we are still working on it. My father Emperor Frederik Valislav Sygvaldi IV however was more interested in economic modernisation and industrialisation and gave the socio-cultural policies over to be a second priority. I hold a similar position but do see the merit of socio-cultural inclusion, after all a nation as diverse as ours would benefit more from gentle but firm guidence over force."

Empress Sygvaldi smiled "You flatter me Empress, but we are not here about SANE, we are here for Rokkenjima and Kodumaa. So your majesty lets see what we can do here. So I take it some form of FTA will be in order, followed by maybe some visa ease of access program for expatriates and foreign nationals of both of our nations. Just as a start? I was advised by our foreign affairs minister that kind of treaty is usually customary as a start of deepening bi-lateral relations."

The Empress replied "Well there are a few reasons, but the main one is due to pragmatism. CSU is basically a trade agreement between the worlds largest economies. Rokkenjima, East Moreland, Achkaerin, Tytor, all of which are members of the CSU, now I can send diplomats across the globe in order to arrange trade meetings and summits between my nation and the others individually. Or I can expedite the process and simply apply to be a member of the CSU to save time."

Minister of State Nicholas Yarkov replied "That's a very frank and blunt way of putting it your highness." The Empress responded "Well Ms Càidh is a busy woman. I think she would appreciate that I speak plainly making things easier."

The small town of Émeraude, in the North East alps of the Republic of Fleur. The Empress of Kodumaa was in the town in the summer as a low-key vacation, away from the cold mountains of Kodumaa and away from the political hustle and bustle of Stolitsa. She was in a small coastal town known for its wine and seafood. She was with her older adoptive daughter and Duchess of Broukova, Janna Catherine Sygvaldi and her younger biological daughter and Crown Princess, Yasna Jormin Sygvaldi I. It was midday and all of them wearing lightly coloured sundresses. 

They were all dining at a small café near the harbour known only as “Le citronnier” Yasna asked while she was dining on some Quiche “Mum, while this is a nice town and all and I do like the relaxed atmosphere and sea air, why are we here?” Empress Myna smiled and chuckled “Well, this is where your father was born Yasna, his home town, its also the same town where you were conceived.”

She says while she smiled Janna simply put her knife and fork down as she was helping herself to her mini Flammekueche and said “I’m suddenly not hungry anymore.” Yasna sighed “Can you at least give me a warning before you say something like that.” She said with a scowl on her face.

The Empress merely replied to her daughter “I’m sorry dear I’m only human, with needs and your father was able to meet those needs…With a ferocious appetite, like a depraved cheetah.” Janna almost choked while sipping on champagne and coughed “Ok well there goes my appetite for the rest of the day.” Yasna just sighed and put her  palm on her forehead out of frustration.

The Empress laughed some more “Oh both of you are just like him, prudish, but endearing…I wish he was still with us. I do miss him. Anyway, I am not here for nostalgia. I wish both of you to have some input in something. I’m thinking of getting us a vacation house. Outside of Kodumaa. Fleur is a nice peaceful and secular country, and I like visiting it occasionally, but whenever we come here we always have to make arrangements and accommodation. There is an estate not far from here, only 10 kilometers outside of this town. I have a meeting with the estates owner who was looking to sell. I have arranged a private meeting and inspection with the owner through his real estate agency. I want both of you to come. Afterall girls it will be your home too.”

Both of them agreed.

The next day they arrived at 12:00pm exactly. Politely waiting for the owner outside the gates as scheduled.

The Empress looked at the section closely. "There is nothing here that I contend with. However do you think 2 years is enough? I mean to scout a firm write up tenders for contracts, not to mention building railway lines and connecting them to the capitals as well as insuring the constancy of the train lines...I would think that would span over at least 5 years...I like the idea don't get me wrong your highness. I just have the issue of the time frame."

The Empress explained "Certainly, modern Kodumaa is modern nation. Our economy is a mix of free market operation with some social market welfare provisions in order to fill in gaps for market failure and labour market reforms. My government I will admit is autocratic, at least on the federal level. I am an absolute monarch and thanks to a 400 years old archaic tradition the Church of the Sun Child gives me a 'heavenly mandate' to govern the nation...Ridiculous I know. My family has ruled Kodumaa since it's establishment 385 years ago, and at least in the days of antiquity the rulers of Kodumaa i.e the Sygvaldi dynasty, which I am apart of have been worshiped as actual living gods"

Minister of State Nicholas Yarkov chuckled. The Empress merely snickered then continued "Yes well as you can see. I don't endorse that belief. I prefer to let citizens make up their own mind in terms of what and who they worship. As long as it doesn't harm others, economically speaking I focus more on opening up the economy to free market competition and to support that with labour market reforms which focus on welfare protection and unemployment insurgence to protect from market failure or market shortfall which results in unemployment. Earlier in my first few years of administration I focused on training and education particularly in the science, technological and mathematical fields in order to ensure the our heavy industries to have a educated workforce to being innovative in those sectors.Policies like this can ensure that Kodumaa continues to be a modern and developed economy. A promise in which I intend to keep to the Kodumaan people."

It is with great honour that I accept this invitation. For years Kodumaa has practice a relative passive and quasi-isolationist foreign policy, that is making friends mostly with our immediate neighbours on an economic level, and while that has worked in bringing about Kodumaa’s economic reform and development in terms of stimulating demand for Kodumaan exports, it’s time Kodumaa branched out and assert itself more within the international stage. What better opportunity than extablishing relations with the First Empire of Rokkenjima which as you know is the second largest economy in the world.

I Empress Myna Anastasia Sygvaldi II will be accompanied by my daughter, Crown Princess Yasna Frederica Sygvaldi the heir to the Celestial Throne. Like you I think my daughter also has to learn by following the example of her elders as she will lead Kodumaa into the next generation towards future development and reform. We will make our way to Pyrena Castle in earnest. I look forward to our meeting.

"Ah well the Visa agreement I agree with. Now in terms of extradition. I would basically elaborate it as have a mutual agreement with all governments and their law enforcement authorities to ensure the criminals or enemies of the state cannot seek refuge in eachothers nations to avoid justice and the law. I'm sure we can all benefit or agree with that correct?"

The Empress inspected the document and responded as she was reading. "I feel like there is more this treaty. This looks rather standard so far, so yes I will sign for this extension. I take it the next section is military in nature...Or not?" She saw the King trying not to admire the room but brushed it off. "If it were up to me I would have this room remodeled...Something less...Gaudy." She said while she smiled to King Lapu.

After the Dignitaries arrived they were directed by palace staff to the Empress' Throne Room


Empress Myna Anastasia Sygvaldi III was wearing a golden lined dress with all elaborate rococo like patterns with the sun in the centre of the chest of the dress. She spoke with a rather soft spoken and regal tone, but at the same time the ton of voice was rather casual. "Ah nice to see all of you made it. I trust the journey wasn't too difficult. Also Your Majesty is that your blimp outside? " She says with a slight chuckled in her voice and grin on her face as she turned her head to King Lapu

Celestial Empress Myna Anastasia Sygvaldi II or as she simply liked to be called Myna was staying in at a hotel in Valtheim

Minister of State Nicholas Yarkov asked "You think they will accept us your Holiness"he asked facetiously with a sly grin on his face, knowing that such formalities made the Empress cringe. She remarked "You know Mr Yarkov, it's talk like that which will probably get us rejected, if you have to use formalities then just your Highness or Majesty would be fine, you know, like a normal monarch." The Minister of State chuckled at the Empress' discomfort and frustration "Yes your majesty...Also on a serious note, would it also not be produent for us to join SANE as well, they are our immediate partners after all." 

The Empress replied "Yes I do see your point, but that comes later, SANE still has some issues to iron out with the seemingly needless tension with Rokkenjima and the whole NA Crisis. We will approach when the situation is more stable." He responded "Yes..You're probably right."she responded facetiously "Of course, your god is always right." She said as they snickered lightly at her statement. The Minister of State replied "Also your Highness wouldn't it have been better to let Consul Michael Williams know beforehand before you came here?" She casually replied "Eh I'm sure they know where we are staying by now, if not I will let them know through the Kodumaan Embassy."
