The Banker's Visit: Huisslandia edition
« on: December 08, 2018, 10:59:44 PM »
After some sort of half-good, half-bad night's sleep and a freezing jog around the Chancellery's neighbourhood, Chancellor Elize Berenberg was finally keen on meeting her accomplished Huisslander colleague, First Consul Helmar Van L’Rois, as well as possibly Her Majesty Queen, Heloise Gough. Even if relations were on an all-time high due to obvious reasons of a shared monarch and history together since centuries back, it was important to keep it up to date and what better choice couldn't it have been than to undertake a mostly symbolic gesture of visiting a next-door neighbour held dearly in the Swastrian citizens' hearts and vice versa?

It's as if Swastria's landscape was deemed to be perfect for undertaking travel by train, travelling through picturesque, quaint villages situated in valleys and the cute lake-side towns, as if it were paradise on Mundus, which it definitely was if one were to ask the opinion of many. Elize and several of her closest staff were naturally sitting in the finest compartments the nationalised train service had to offer, quietly doing the last bits of work to be completed prior to entering the Huisslandian kingdom, also having a bit of well-needed snack and coffee in the process, one couldn't miss such essentials if one's brain was to function properly.

The fast speed train was to reach the Huisslandian capital in no time, and from there on things would get interesting for surely.

Fortstad, Royal Federation of Huisslandia, 12:30pm

Forststad Centraal Station

The First Consul Helmar Van L’Rois was waiting at the Forstad Centraal Station with Commerce Minister Jorman Twest and State Minister Gina d’Brais, all three of them who have been to Swasteria before. The terminal where the Swasterian Chancellor was stopping was the the lifelink to Huisslandia’s sister nation, their landlocked north eastern neighbor of Swastria. There were government cars at the back entrance away from the eyes of the public and body gaurds everywhere.

First Consul L’Rois was wearing a black pants suit wand holding several document volders, and Commerce Minister Jorman Twest was the same, Gina d’Brais however was a little more casual wearing merely suit pants with a black blouse and her sash business bag with her laptop on the insude and a USB on a dark blue lanyard. She started talking “All this security. Is it really necessary Madame Consul? I mean we are meeting the Chancellor of Swastria, our closest ally, not expecting a terrorist attack.” First Consul L’Roi replied “Yeah well this was recommended by the Department of Defence also I don’t think it would be good press for us if the Chancellor died on our soil.”

“True enough” State Minister d’Brais replied. Jorman Twest looked at his watch. And asked his colleagues “When was it that the Chancellor was supposed to be here. I think we may have come a little early.”

First Consul Helmar  Van L’Rois replied “Yeah she’ll be here in the next hour 20 minutes. So you know, not too long now. So lets revise what is on the agenda.” State Minister d’Brais summurised. “Basically it’s a rutine visit, reaffairming our nations relationship as close allys. We already have several joint infrastructure projects active with them such as building more joint mas transit links. Also several FDI agreements going with several of our companies. Im guessing they probably want a recuced rate of import duties and taxes on imports from us, after all most goods they import come from us first.”

=Jorman replied “Well yes that would probably be the core of it. I’m guessing they also finally want to talk about some Visa free agreements too.” First Consul L’Rois chucked “Did you two swtich jobs? You starting to sound like experts in each others fields.” She then got a call from one of the security personal, the Chancellor got to the station earlier than anticipated. The party went down towards the terminal and learnt where the Cahncellor was, she was in Terminal 10 in the 1t class carriage at the front. So that is where they went to greet the government head of their colest ally. Waiting in anticipation.

The train transporting the Swastrian envoy finally arrived in Forstad, which was effectively the sister city of Wittburg and naturally the capital city of Huisslandia. Chancellor Berenberg used to occasionally take a weekend off with the family in Huisslandia during the summer holidays, considering the family have a summer house along the coast and thus provided a way to relax by the Perniche Bay which is connected to the larger Krimeon Sea, however when it came to winter sports Swastria was the natural choice and there was an increase of Huisslander visits to Swastria following during the winter season.

"Consul L’Rois, Minister Twest, Minister d’Brais...I thank thee for this warm welcome, from an ally and close friend to another. I'm looking forward to the talks, as I envisioned this to be more than a simple routine visit and there's indeed a few topics on the agenda that ought to be discussed. Also, it will an honor once more to meet Her Majesty some time later, the fact that she accepted our recommendation for the governor-generalship to begin with is always much appreciated." Chancellor Berenberg greeted in German.
