A common threat: Djerb contacting SICR (Tamora and SICR)
« on: October 01, 2019, 06:14:46 PM »

I am writing to express the worry the Empire of Tamora has in regards to the latest developments occurring in the South of Ardia. It is the opinion of the Empire of Tamora that the First Empire of Rokkenjima is showing an ever increasing expansionist policy not just in Ardia but throughout Mundus. The First Empire not only broke all commercial and diplomatic relations with us but it is actively funding the Communist government of Kaitaine and supporting the government of Lakhzovia, both of which are hostile to Tamora. They have threatened Zimalia with military action and have now acquired two new overseas military bases further expanding their influence. In your region, they are now supporting the Republic of Sinsu, which in our opinion is extremely powerful already. That combined with its new allies, the Kingdom of Tytor and the Kingdom of Novincia, which are new reunited in the reborn CSTO makes the First Empire of Rokkenjima a threat for the stability of the South Ardian region and I argue for the stability of Mundus.

It is these concerns that have made me contact your government. The Empire of Tamora and the Second Imperial Chinese Republic are oceans apart but in the past have cooperated in a satisfactory manner to the benefit of both sides. Furthermore, the economic cooperation between us through the MidAranye Commodity Exchange, while not spectacular, is consistent and in the opinion of this government has enabled a certain level of trust between us. It is for this reason that I believe our two nations should seek to cooperate more in order to protect our interests from the security risks posed by an expansionist Rokkenjima.

Before I conclude, I do however feel the need to mention that any cooperation taking place in the future must be conditioned by having Second Imperial Chinese Republic take note and care of the security of the Muslim community at the border with Sinsu (ooc: assuming there are such compact communities at the border and the TYP newspost has not been retconned). We do understand that in matters of conflict other priorities are given precedence but the Empire of Tamora cannot cooperate with nations that specifically target for bombardment Muslim and Manist communities. I am sure in the case of the Second Imperial Chinese Republic that the incident was an accident as was confirmed by your statement. We therefore believe that our condition of not targeting the said communities is therefore superfluous and should not impede our potential future cooperation.

I look forward to your reply.

Respectfully yours,
Alya Safavid
Head of Foreign Affairs

I understand your concerns about the safety of the Sinsic Muslim community, which is perfectly justified - therefore I am pleased to assure you that the SICR has absolutely no intention of harming any Muslim, whether they be Sinsic or otherwise, and peace talks are more than on the way. Sinsic media has draped our nation in a dark curtain, and I wish to explain clearly the difference between what is the curtain and what is the reality. The SICR's forces, as mentioned in the press statement, only lasted three hours and was targeted only on areas of military importance.

Now, in the case of Rokkenjima, you are entirely correct in Rokkenjima being a threat to the SICR. With the advent of SANE, though, I am hoping that the situation will contain itself. Nevertheless, I will request that a meeting be arranged with the SICR embassy in Djerb, if able.
Additionally, I think that any cooperation between the SICR and Tamora be done in secret, involving military forces and slaves as little as possible.

With thanks, and Dragons' Bless,

Emperor-Admiral Jin-Duming von Nanjing of the Ming-Brandenburg Throne.

Great Temple complex, Djerb, Empire of Tamora

Aya Safavid, the head of foreign affairs, invited the ambassador of SICR to the Great Temple complex which was located in the center of the capital. The Great Temple was seen by the Manist faitful as the ground zero of the Manist faith and many Tamorans also considered it the most important building in the Empire, more important than ever the Imperial palace itself.

The meeting would take place in one of the adjacent buildings of the temple, in one of the rooms specially design for important meetings. The building was not part of the temple itself (and therefore not a religious building) and the hosts thought it appropriate to host meetings such as the one Aya Safavid was having. Those unfamiliar with Tamoran ways would perhaps find it weird the chosen venue and would have expected something like the building of the Foreign Office but in Tamora it was seen as something natural and the SICR ambassador having spent time in Djerb would most likely know this.

Thee Great Temple complex  of Djerb

One of the secretaries greeting the SICR ambassador.

Aya did her best to prepare for the meeting as she always did, especially one with a representative from a such an alien nation as she and many Tamorans perceived SICR.  The Tamoran embassy in SICR provided information in regards to the customs and laws of SICR and many of those Alya found to be extremely weird, especially the one with the rationing of food. It was something she couldn’t really figure out how it worked or why the government did that. There were also things she did appreciate about SICR, like their conservative approach to intimate matters. One thing was clear; they were very different than the Lodjans. And recently, it seemed like anti Rokkenjima sentiments in SICR reached new heights which was something that Djerb thought as it was understandable. Above that, there was also the issue with Sinsu, would SICR really invade their break away provinces or they were just trying to keep the matter alive by causing tension from time to time? No one in Djerb had any idea.

As the Dragonaii ambassador entered the room after being escorted by one of the secretaries, Aya, which was wearing an abaya dress and hijab, stood up from her chair, approached the ambassador and when the distance was about 6 feet, she made a bow placing her right hand over her heart.

“Greetings Your Excellency, thank you for honoring my invitation. I am Alya Safavid, the Head of Foreign affairs. I don’t believe we had the pleasure of meeting before.”.

She then motioned for the ambassador to take a seat.

“Should you need anything please let me know” she added. Though in this case, “anything” did not involve alcohol.

After the ambassador had a chance to reply and present himself, Alya proceeded with the topic that led Tamora to call for the meeting:

“I am pleased that the Second Imperial Chinese Republic shares the concerns of the Empire in regards to Rokkenjima and their expansionism. While the Second Imperial Chinese Republic is of course correct in saying that the creation of SANE has alleviated many of the security risks posed by Rokkenjima in regards to SICR, I believe they must not be underestimated. They have announced two new overseas bases, a new military alliance and now they are moving military assets in your breakaway Southern territories.

One of the reasons why I asked for this meeting is to see if SICR would be willing to exchange information regarding Rokkenjiman navy movements. For our part, the Tamoran military will use both its satellites and its maritime patrol aircraft to monitor the Rokkenjiman fleet. However, the sea is a vast place so having others do the same and sharing that intel helps keep a better track of Rokkenjiman ships.

Would the government of SICR be interested to engage in such an exchange of intel?”

Alya paused giving the ambassador a chance to reply as well as propose other measures should he/she(ooc: I realized that I don’t know if the ambassador is he or a she) want to.

The SICR ambassador to Tamora, Ma-Xingdu was more than aware of the rapidly devolving situation back home. In fact, she'd already received word that her sister had run off to join the pro-Sinsic militia near their village while her brother, a sergeant in the National Guard, had been mobilized and sent to help quell the riots in Er-Mingtua. She wanted to go home and slap the sense into her two younger siblings, but duty came first.

She'd personally found the Great Temple fascinating and a great difference from the far more industrial and drab-colored buildings of the SICR, though it did remind her a bit of the Grand Summer Palace located in what was now the Republic of Sinsu. Wearing a dark qipao with gold bordering and emblazoned with a seal of the Imperial Republic pinned to her lapel, she bowed politely in return.

"Well met, Your Excellency. I am Ambassador Ma-Xingdu, Representative of the SICR in Djerb. Thank you for the offer, but I am satisfied."

After hearing Aya's explanation and proposal, she furrowed her brows in surprise and considered for a moment before responding.

"Well, I hardly disagree with your opinion that Rokkenjima has increased its military activity. All things considered, I would normally give an unconditional 'no' and be on my way, although with Rokkenjiman submarines conducting surveillance operations along the coast, I think we can work something out. If the SICR were to agree to this exchange of intel, though, let us keep it between Tamora and the SICR alone and only last until Rokkenjima is no longer in a position to threaten the SICR."

“Full discretion will be given to this matter. After all it is not in the interest of Tamora for this to become public. “

After a moment of silence Alya decided to polite approach the internal violence taking place in SICR. She knew full well how sensitive the Dragonaii were about such issues but on the other hand she didn’t want to seem like she was ignoring their troubles (ooc: the meeting takes place when the issues in SICR that seemed to lead to civil war weren’t yet solved).

“ The government of Tamora has full confidence in the government of SICR and its handling of its internal affairs. Should the government of SICR consider it needs assistance we are willing to help. I am sure SANE is there to help but I thought I should mention it.”

Ma-Xingdu swiftly deflected the question. The SICR didn't need any more escalation, and foreign intervention(or the sheer potential for it) would certainly mean war.
"Very kind of you, but I'm sure the Imperial Administration will sort everything out. This is not the first time there have been riots in the nestland, and I would be a fool to think that there would be an end to such behavior in this century. It will be dealt with swiftly and quickly, as the Imperial Government sees fit."

"I am sure that will be the case."

"For my part I believe that was all there was on the agenda. Should you also have any proposals on how to better cooperate on the matter then I am more than willing to hear them out. If not, I would like to thank you for time and for coming here on such short notice. "
