It's that time of year again- our version of the Olympic Games is back for its seventh outing, as always there have been a few minor tweaks to the event list with some new events added and other modifications made (most notably medieval MMA is now a discipline in its own right). I'm also once again foregoing group stages in various competitions to simplify things. Bidding information is included in this post for anyone interested in hosting, if no one bids for hosting then you're all coming to Valtheim.

Time wise these are slightly delayed due to the fact that I'm moving house in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to ensure that the sign up period overlaps that moving period so that I don't end up scoring a few days of this and then have a long delay on the other end, so the IC stuff for this will be September - October I expect.
Bidding information

The bidding process requires nations wishing to host to submit requested information, what information is dependent on the event in question. There will be a deadline set for bid submissions in the case of the Mundus Games this is the 26th August any bids entered after that date will not be considered unless the vote has not opened. As you can probably guess from that sentence once bidding closes there will be a vote conducted. By vote this will be in the form of a post in this topic and the format of that vote will be explained at the time as it depends on the number of bids received.

So with that in mind the following is the criteria for Mundus Games Bids:

• A list of venues for the events- you are expected to include the capacity of these venues and the athletics stadium must have a minimum capacity of 80,000
• Name of the Main TV Rights Holder (For example EMTV)
• Plans for the Athletes Village (just an image will do with a brief explanation)
• Importantly a written letter signed by a ranking member of your government stating a) that they will provide safe venues and protective services for all athletes and staff no matter which nation they hail from. (No refusing entry to a nation or holding people prisoner because you don't get along in RP with their nation) and b) explaining the legacy of the games in your nation (what will the venues be used for afterwards, will there be a focus on the next generation of athletes? etc) This is the selling aspect of the bid

Everyone is advised that the last bullet point is quite important as it involves something akin to the Olympic Truce.

Also as the controller of the Mundus Games Committee (our IOC) I reserve the right to refuse a bid should there be a legitimate IC reason to do so, e.g we wouldn't be having this in a country in the middle of a civil war.

As a word of advice to any prospective bidder do bear in mind that you will require multiple stadia for events such as football and cricket.

As usual competing nations will have the opportunity to choose disciplines to specialize in that is those headings in YELLOW, you are permitted three specialisms. You may also suggest the addition of an event if you wish but please remember these are the summer games (so no snowboarding). Also this is just the event list I have not yet worked out the schedule.

Finally I am not simply assuming everyone competes in everything but I am instead letting you determine which events you enter however please note that some events have a set number of people involved and some have a minimum number, these are generally team events and are indicated. Also please remember when determining your team size what the size of your nation is and how sporty they are.

As last year this year we're using google sheets to create the Database as far as I understand it I believe you should be able to add in your athlete information without needing to sign into a google account, if for whatever reason you can't add yours in post it below and I'll get it added. I have already put Achkaerin's information in there to give people an idea of when numbers are entered and when yes/no isn't. If you aren't entering an event please enter either a zero or no into the cell or leave the cell blank.

Regarding the Seventh All-Mundus Summer Games

With its long history of participation in world sporting events, the Kingdom of Tytor stands as uniquely qualified to host this year's upcoming Mundus Games.  Tytor's bid to host this event is herein officially announced.  If chosen, this will be the second time the Mundus Games have come to Tytor, their third iteration having been hosted in Aquilae.  Therefore, the Tytorian government promises to hold the internationally cooperative nature of the games inviolate; all athletes and supporting staff will be given diplomatic immunity for the duration of the games; all events will be protected by the best security measures available; and citizens of other nations desiring to attend will be able to take advantage of semi-expedited tourist visas for the duration of the games.

It is the hope of the Tytorian people that the international community will elect to entrust Tytor once again with the honor of hosting this prestigious event.

It is our delight to be able to put forward a joint bid between Tamora and Royal Seleucid aimed at hosting the 2020 version of the Mundus Games. The Mundus Games marks an occasion for the world to celebrate as different nations and people come together to celebrate their shared love of sport. Tamora and Royal Seleucid provide the perfect backdrop for the events of the Games for several reasons. 
First of all Tamora and Royal Seleucid are nations with deep and historic cultures that have competitive sport at their hearts. The people of Royal Seleucid have taken to their hearts past-times such as falconry and camel racing which are both unique to Midaranye as large scale participation events. In the last few years sports such as Football and athletics have taken to the hearts of the Seleucid people. Meanwhile over the border the people of Tamora have embraced supporting others to get involved in sporting opportunities. Thanks to the efforts of Tamora the Bene Gesserit diaspora across Mundus were given the chance to field their first official sports teams when Tamora welcomed a squad of young ladies to play football. It is clear therefore that should the Games come to Midaranye they would find a native population overjoyed at the chance to witness first class sport while simultaneously helping nations access the very highest tier of global sports. 

The people of Midaranye are famed for their hospitality with the people seeing it as practically a duty to make visitors welcome. One need only look at the Jewell of the Desert Festival where tens of thousands visit the remote sandy desert of Royal Seleucid for a week of trading, shopping, socialising and entertaining. Every year this event gets bigger and bigger and the tourists visiting experience a warm welcome, feel safe and leave as our friends whom we are eager to see return.  Tamora meanwhile has a strong tradition of pilgrimages, hosting pilgrims from all over Mundus that visit the holiest sites of the Manist faith. 

Midaranye is also a region famed for being at the cutting edge of environmental sustainability and over the last few years both nations have invested in "green technology" the two nations jointly built what is considered the world's largest "Gigafactory" capable of producing vast numbers of rechargable batteries for use in things such as electric cars. Working together innovations such as the offshore economic park of KHELP have seen small businesses in these fields thrive. In terms of food production the HARP (Haniyah Agricultural Reserve Project) experiment has seen a unique partnership between the two nations utilise new technology to feed the world. In more recent times the engineering prowess of the region has been seen in the construction of both the ambitious lesuire facility known as The Palm and the more recent economic hub known as Blue. Any games that take place in Midaranye are destined to be some of the most environmentally friendly and innovative seen in the history of the games. 

Finally the Games deserve to come to Midaranye. This important economic, cultural and religious centre of the world has been neglected when it has come to hosting major sporting events. No sporting event in the world is bigger than the Mundus Games. If the Games are to be truly representative of Mundus then it is about time they came to Midaranye where the people welcome them with open arms. 

Should the games be granted jointly to Royal Seleucid and Tamora the coverage of the Games will be provided by RSTV and TINS. All nations on Mundus, regardless of participation, will be entitled to access footage from these two channels. Tamora and Royal Seleucid also both undertake to do everything within their power to provide a safe environment for athletes, spectators, officials and broadcasters to enjoy the games regardless of the political standing between ourselves and them. 

We have attached to this letter an outline of which events are to be held and where. In addition there shall be two Atheltes Villages, one in Ipsus and one in Alaverdi with transport being put on between the two by the Seleucid and Tamoran governments.

ATHLETICS:- Prophet's Grace Arena, Tamora



The Prophet's Grace  Arena/Stadium etc is 70,000 arena designed to mimic a tent used by those travelling the desert. The design of the stadium will minimise the amount of energy required to keep athletes and spectators cool. The tent structure's lightweight canopies will stretch out towards the pitch from every side, providing plenty of shade to supplement the air cooling technologies at work. Surrounded by a park the equivalent of 40 football pitches in size there is adequate room to implement solar panels and some small scale wind turbines. With the nations "Gigafactory" providing large numbers of electric vehicle cells fleets of buses and taxis can be found to get around the area. 

FOOTBALL AND RUGBY:- Palm Plaza Arena, Ipsus, Royal Seleucid


The Palm Plaza Arena sits on one of the branches of the innovative Palm development in the bay on which Ipsus sits. The Arena is capable of seating some 65,000 fans and is designed to be easily accessible by boat as well as causeway to the mainland. The location in a state of the art leisure park means that hospitality opportunities at restaurants and cafes are just a short stroll away as is a small popular theme park. 


The Saroyan Dynasty Arena also known as the Royal Arena in Tamora shall be used for Swimming/Diving events. The arena has built by the monarchy of the federated kingdom of Attica as a tribute to the local tradition in swimming and diving. It is also the place where Tamora's best athletes in diving train.  



The Palm Exhibition Centre in Royal Seleucid will be used for Weighlifting, Fencing, Medeival MMA and Cue Sports. The centre has four separate exhibition halls surrounding a large central hall. This allows us to easily convert them for different sports with the centrepiece finals taking place in the central hub. Sat on one of the outer arms of the Palm Project it benefits from excellent boat links to the city. With Royal Seleucid having a small but significant Cultist population hosting Fencing and Medieval MMA is likely to see the events well attended.


Rowing - River Vorotan in Tamora. With the river flowing through Alaverdi and with large pathways down both sides of the river there will be ample chances for the spectators to watch the events on the river. 



The Ipsus Bay Boat Club, Royal Seleucid will host the Sailing Events. While the Boat club, which sits close to the Palm, is usually accustomed to hosting mega yachts during the course of the games it will be turned over to the Mundus Games sailors. The natural bay of Ipsus will provide perfect conditions for the competition. 



The Gregory the Illuminator Arena in Tamora will host the gymnastics, Boxing, Judo, Tae-kwon do, Karate and MMA. Built in the early 2000s the Arena regularly hosts various regional and national sporting events.  



The Royal Arena in Ipsus was up until completion of the Palm Project the nations national arena. It has since been given a make over for the games. It will now feature a retractable roof allowing it to host cycling events. Once the cycling is done the arena can be quickly converted to host Archery and Shooting. 


The Ipsus Sports Hall was built to allow a showcase of various sports. During the games it shall host Basketball and Netball.



The (Saint) Nerses Arena in Tamora is a 20,000 arena designed initially for football. The games however will see it used for a variety of Ball and Stick Games as well as Muggle Quidditch.The Arena is home for the soccer team Attica Crusaders which participated in the 2018 Mundus Champions League. 



The Vardenis Showgrounds in Tamora are used for a variety of different uses such as concerts and public religious service. During the games however they shall be hosting the Cricket



Ipsus Beach shall house three temporary arenas with canopy roofs permitting both indoor and outdoor volleyball to be played right on the beach. During regular volleyball games a solid floor will be installed while this can easily be removed for beach volleyball games. 



The Alaverdi Arena in Tamora is a beautiful open air arena capable of being configured for a variety of events. During the course of the games it shall feature as a centre piece from combat sport finals as well as Tennis and various other racket sports. It will even be used to showcase competition Rock climbing on its climbing walls. 



As part of the Palm Project in Ipsus a BMX and Skateboarding park was constructed. This will be adapted to bring it up to Mundus Games specifications and seating will be erected around to allow for spectators. The arena is likely to be the most modern skate park on Mundus and will feature climate control technology to allow for pefect skating conditions. 



Ipsus Royal Palace is usually the home of the Seleucid Royal Family however for the duration of the games it will be home to the Equestrian events with the driveway being converted into an arena for showjumping and dressage and a cross country route being erected around the Palace Estate. The spectacular backdrop is certain to be as awe inspiring as the action. 



ATHLETES VILLAGES

IPSUS



Atheltes competing in Ipsus shall be housed at the Ipsus University. The campus is being extensively refurbished to provide the best academics in Royal Seleucid with world class accomodation and all the amenities a young active student would want. The University shall be handed over to the Games during the duration and athletes will be able to access their own kitchens to ensure perfect meal preparation or are welcome to use any of the campus cafeterias which we shall have serving the best in healthy Seleucid cuisine served up by chefs provided from the Royal Hotel on the Palm Project. 

TAMORA



Athletes competing in Tamora shall be housed at Palace of the People complex. The main building used to house the Attican Parliament until 1958 when the then independent kingdom joined the Tamoran Empire and as such the institution became obsolete and was dissolved with the building being turned into a museum of Attican history . The surrounding buildings used to provide accommodation for the out of city delegates until 1958. The complex is now being refurbished to provide state of the art accommodation for the athletes in the event the bid is successful.

Bidding deadline has passed, we have two contenders for the hosting of the 7th Mundus Games they are:

1) Tytor

2) Tamora/Royal Seleucid (aka Midaranye)

As we have two bids there will now be a straight up majority vote, this will last until midnight on the 30th of August. NO vote cast after that time will count, in the event of a tie the Mundus Games Committee has the casting vote. Please indicate your vote by means of a post in this topic.

Everyone is advised that this is an IC vote - that means the result and who voted for who will be public knowledge as of the expiration of the voting period.

OOC - I have nothing against people voting with both primary and secondary nations I only ask that if doing so that people try to avoid throwing both their nations support behind one bid (known as a double vote) the reason is that this creates the possibility that a majority of players may vote for one bid but the IC results go the other way because of the double vote.

Sign ups will remain open until approximately the 7th or 8th of September so still plenty of time to sign up, adjust numbers etc. On a final note my thanks to everyone for observing the request about double vote avoidance.

The Kingdom of Tytor hereby announces its intention to withdraw from all events taking place within the Empire of Tamora.  The Tytorian and Floodwaterian teams will still participate in those events being held within the Emirate of Royal Seleucid.

In connection with this, I may be adjusting Tytor's and Floodwater's specializations (though I've not decided on that for sure).

In solidarity with the 62.5 million people kept in bondage in Tamora, the Federation of Izhitsa hereby joins the Kingdom of Tytor in withdrawing from all events taking place within the Empire of Tamora. While this has come as a disappointment to many of Izhitsa's athletes, particularly our world-class rock climbers, it is understood that we cannot legitimise a slaver government by treating it as a normal nation.
