The Art of Friend Making (OOC)
« on: November 08, 2017, 11:04:56 AM »
Ok So I have a somewhat developed socialist state, don’t worry though, its not like the totalitarian Stalinist USSR, it’s a one party state yes, but the communist Stalinists were deposed in the 1970’s so now the more Nordic/central European welfare policies have kicked in and has relaxed the controls on human rights and censorship. So don’t worry, not the USSR. Anyway Viljandi has been a neutral country in terms of military and defence policy (Switzerland, Sweden & Finland). So yes No country gets by alone and  Viljandi needs friends, somewhat allies and trade partners.  So who is willing?

Nya Aland may be a logical place to start looking. We're similar in terms of military and defence and while we have some controls on human rights and censorship these aren't exactly repressive. Essentially NA is a theocracy where everyone is treated well but Odinism is the only recognised and publically displayed religion. So for example Christians aren't persecuted but their churches can't look like churches and they can't publically pray, they also can't put up things like Easter decorations.

Balticum is based on northern Germany and the Netherlands in terms of languages and culture, like a very liberal and secular society through traditions do still exist from the Baltic reformed Church. The society is basically a federal presidential constitutional monarchy (US system + Monarchy, with Monarch as head of state and commander-in-chief + President as head of government known as Reichskanzler). The social, economic and political policies actually revolve around the Nordic Model, which includes a combination of free market capitalism with a comprehensive welfare state and collective bargaining at the national level; Current coalition government is currently centre-left with the Social Democrats being the largest congress party.

If I may make a recommendation - do the visits in different threads at the same time, this way you're not waiting on on a less active person at the cost of a more active person. Essentially all you'd have to do is decide an IC order for the visits and time lock each one but make reference in OP's to previous visits to gauge timelines.

Also feel free to throw Achkaerin in if you want since you're going to be close to Gowu and all that.

I may be a capitalist monarchy and culturally opposite(Filipino+Brazilian type with some Indian culture), but I'm your neighbor, so there's that. I think we can discuss about border infrastructure, trade agreements, etc.

Yeah So you're my neighbor to the south. Ok It probably does make sense to secure relations with my neighbours firs, then I'll go to the Ecclesiastical Kingdom of Balticum, then Ny Aland(Formerly UNP?) and then Achkaerin. This is mostly due to Geography.

Just so you know, there's the Ecclesiastical State (ruled by the papacy) and Kingdom of Balticum, no such thing as Ecclesiastical Kingdom of Balticum, unless that was a typo error.

If possible I'd like to come to you, my Head Gothi is out and about at the moment so makes more sense for him to visit you and then he's off to East Moreland

Ok well if that is the case then we can do this. If you are willing to come o me, that kind of saves me time. So do I have my government invite you? Or another way? Just wondering how this goes.

Generally you as the country extending the invite or requesting a visit would write some sort of statement Example if you're stuck.
