The Barnacle / Nurashima Situation - RP MOD update
« on: March 13, 2018, 10:02:07 PM »
In regards to this RP I've felt the need to clear a few things up as having spoken to Nova & Tama they are feeling this RP (which can be very interesting) is in danger of being railroaded. There is also some confusion surrounding things.

1. Despite the constant use of the term Barnacle Island it is not a single island but rather a grouping of smaller islands (Think similar to Fiji). It is called Barnacle by Heyra and Nurashima by Himeyama. At present only a tiny Northern island in the chain is occupied by Heyra but they believe they have the right to them all. The remaining islands are occupied by Himeyama.

2. In 1414 the island was colonized by Heyra. In 1456, Heyra was running out of finances, the island was left alone a few years without real care, and so was colonised by Himeyama. In 1746 during a trade war it becomes Heyran again. In 1808, as Heyra suffered a great civil war, Himeyama retook it in order to seize the strategic position of the island, something which Heyra has never recognised as legitimate. In 1940 the Ardian Empire launched an attack (like Pearl Harbor) against Himeyama on the island and invaded it. The Heyrans were allied to Ardia before the conflict aiming to get the islands back (Heyra remained neutral the first few days of the conflict, before having Himeyan forces attacking them at their turn as they hosted Ardians troops).

3. In 1963, there was still no legally Heyran recognised Himeyan authority over the island (having signed no treaty in 1808), a group of “civilians” from Heyra reach the island with the aim of colonising it again with Heyran rules. Himeyama being in a civil war at the time, little attention is given to this situation, as a result  the Heyran Government backed what they called a  peaceful “reconquest” and once Himeyan civil war is ended, it is too late as Heyran Forces are well established

4. Today Heyra and Himeyama dispute the arrangement over the island because Heyra haven’t legal given up its claim in 1808, and Himeyama owning the island since that long consider it as its.

I would like to ask the region to allow this to develop as so far we've had one real diplomatic mention of it during the AKO talks.

Thank you please.
