Today the people of Safraen have gathered in the capital, Polua, to take part in the annual Memorial Day service. The annual commemoration marks the day that the nation was given the all clear following the nation being devestated by the Kajiu Virus in 2014. The virus swept through the country and is estimated 20% of the nations population died while several hundred thousand were left with serious long term health implications. The nations President, Mikhael Dretsyj, lead the celebration at the Memorial Park which stands at the site of the capitals former football stadium, which during the virus outbreak was turned into a makeshift field hospital. The day also holds significance as it was also the day on which the nation was temporarily split into two as forces from the USR took control of half the nation. This later lead to a second outbreak of the virus in the Soviet controlled zone, leading to further deaths. President Dretsyj gave the annual address saying, "Five years ago we celebrated the fact that we survived and mourned the fact we were no longer a united country. Today we stand as one nation to remember those who do not survive the most turbulent times our nation has faced and give thanks that we stand here today. Our nation is still healing from its scars and this will take many years but at least this is a challenge we shall face together."

There were representatives at the event of the former Commonwealth of Independent States nations who provided humanitarian aid during the virus outbreak and who lost soldiers protecting civilians from looters.

The Parliament of the Allied States of Ardia are set this week to discuss the nation joining the continental wide railway networks that have been discussed in Ardia. The project has seen attempts to form a railway line from Ui Cenneslaig to New Derusima however Praetor Julius Devaux has today announced that the government are keen to add the Allied States to the project by extending the line to the capital of Cescedia. The high speed railway line is expected to cost several billion to build and as such opposition parties have criticised the intention to take part. One opposition leader stated, "The nation has bigger priorities that need billions. We should be using Parliaments time to discuss the ever fractious nature of Ardian continental politics and the fact our military is severely lacking. Our geopolitical position puts us in dire jeopodey sandwiched between Rokkenjima and SANE who seem intent on constant sabre rattling."

With all six states required to agree to the construction project it is unlikely that the passage of the route will be smooth as some states may seek to utilise this national project to advance their own agendas.

Last week National Park Rangers in Zimalia spotted a unique new addition to the parks elephant herd. A small albino elephant had been born and seemed struggling to cope with keeping up with the herd. The strangely coloured elephant was being closely protected by its mother who seemed to be trying to provide shade for the young animal. Park Rangers made the decision to initially euthanise the animal believing that it would face health difficulties because of the sunlight and its eyes. The animal however was saved by a Presidential decree when President Elwes issued orders that he had adopted the animal. The President is a frequent spectator at the national park which was set up to try and boost tourism and look after endangered species. The charasmatic President said, "Us Zimalians are not racist, we will not make anyone a victim of violence because of their skin colour, even elephants. The albino youngster will have a home in Zimalia as long as we can provide it. The albino is now just another of my favourite children, just like all Zimalians." It is understood that the elephant and its mother have been moved to a special enclosure where the baby can have extra shade and can be cared for by wildlife experts.

President Artemiy Klepakhov of the United Soviet of Rodina has announced that over the weekend he will enter hospital for surgery on his stomach. The 67 year old leader confirmed that he has been suffering from bouts of pain over the last few months after being photographed grimacing at a series of public appearances. The successor to Stalin has been in charge of the USR for four years and has overseen attempts to recover the nation from the collapse that came with Stalin's demise. He has been credited by many with halting a potential civil war with aid from neighbouring Kaitaine. Speaking to the People's Conference President Klepakhov said, "I am a man who has been blessed with good health to this point. My stomach has been trying to change my usually perfect health and I will be submitting to surgery to ensure that I can focus on my duties fully again. I will be out of circulation so to speak for probably a week during which time the Vice-President will be keeping a steady hand on the rudder and our people need not worry. This is a routine operation and I will be fighting fit again soon."

Kelpakhov clearly expects a quick return to his duties as he has already announced an impending visit from Kaitaine President McPherson to watch a soccer match between the two nations champions. "Me and President McPherson shall enjoy the spectacle over a glass or two of vodka and whiskey. I plan on celebrating many USR goals so I hope my recovery permits."

The ongoing restoration of The Edicule, a construction that surrounds what is believed to be the final resting place of Jesus Christ, is soon to be completed. The Edicule, a word deriving from aedicule meaning 'little house' - was last reconstructed after a fire in the early 1800s. Following an agreement between all the Churches that have a stake in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre the work was permitted and its $10million cost split evenly between them. The site see's millions of pilgrims a year and the age of the marble along with the weight of all those feet has weakened parts of the structure. The work also gave a rare chance for researchers to be given unprecedented access to the inside of the tomb within the Edicule as part of restoration work. Usually researchers are not given chances to do much work because of restrictions from some or all of the various Churches on the site.

It is expected that the shrine work will be completed by the end of October and a ceremony held to give thanks for the work. The site has seen increased security as there were rumours some antique collectors were seeking to perhaps collect sections of the marble which contain "autographs" from early pilgrims. The site was also targeted earlier in the year by Odinist Fundamentalists of the Gungnir who detonated a bomb outside killing several pilgrims.

The Duchy of Aquitaine has today announced that it plans to sell off its five Waverunner corvettes as it changes the formation of its armed forces. The nation acquired five of the ships within weeks of agreeing its amicable split from the Republic of Marseille following a CTO operation to work with local forces to rid the two nations of the presence of Duchess Alys who was seen as a despotic ruler. The government have announced that they intend to sell the vessels and reinvest the money into the Air Force. A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence stated. "At first our waterways security was a concern, however today that is not an issue. We have no need for corvettes to patrol the major river, this is work that can be done by our Police forces and our Air Force. We shall in the coming weeks be searching for a buyer and also a source for some cost effective aviation assets."

Previously the corvettes had utilised an agreement with neighbouring Marseille to reach the ocean however this being some 1,200km away the Ministry of Defence has stated, "We have no need to patrol that coast and as such we are considering approaching our neighbours and giving them first refusal of the ships."

A new 10,000 student University is set to open in Ashmaremu, the capital of Abydos. The project which has been totally funded by Pharoah Enna Amenei will allow students to gain degrees in Theology combined with another subject deemed to be "Islamic". The head of the University is Jawaad Rashif who explained, "In antiquity Islamic scholars helped push the world forward in terms of medicine, science, maths and engineering. Today we seek knowledge but we do so with only one eye, many young scholars have forgotten Allah when they read. We seek to instil the word of Allah in their hearts as they seek to use what they learn to help mankind." The University will have a split site with 8,000 places for male students while a neighbouring complext will permit around 2,000 female students to study Theology.

One of the first students to enroll is Miriam Abdullah who is attending the women's University. "I attend Mosque and we have women there telling us of our duties as laid out by the Koran. I sometimes ask them questions and they struggle to answer. I do not blame them, I blame our system. We need to ensure women such as me learn our faith correctly. If we are to spread the word to women we must have women able to guide our study under the guidance of great scholars such as those Imans gathered here. I look forward to becoming a part of my mosque so I can help women fully understand our part in Allah's plan."

The University has stated it hopes to welcome students from across Mundus and as Jawaad Rashif explained, "We may teach Islamic studies but we welcome students of all faiths. A better understanding of faith opens hearts."

A group of around 30 members of the Nationalist Samuari League (NSL) today caused controversey when they carried out a march through the streets of Takeda to the Hiromita Shrine, a site controversial because according to local religious beliefs it contains the souls of around 450 members of the military who are thought to have taken part in the genocide of Neuva Ardia. The Nationalist Samurai League have for several years demanded that Shogun Sora Yoshimo withdraw his apology for the actions of those who committed the genocide saying "War is brutal and the side who is more fierce wins. We should not apologise for going all out to win our fight with those devils across the border. These 450 men died defending their homeland and are heroes." The NSL said prayers and made offerings for these men in a ceremony where each of the names was read out.

A counter protest by a Human Rights organisation took place nearby and tried to drown out the reading of the names. Police did their best to move the protesters on giving the protesters leader call to say, "I am ashamed that our nation will be seen in these images honouring evil. The Police have protected them and allowed them to conduct evil today. The police should hang their head in shame. If you do not condemn these 450 souless ghouls you are not human." Small scuffles broke out as the NSL tried to leave and were confronted by the Protesters, at one point the NSL were threatened with arrest as two of their members threatened the protesters with drawn swords.

Following his capture of power in 2015 Tero Melos became President of Neuva Ardia and guided the nation through its crisis of a genocide carried out by Toshikawa. The President promised when he came to power that he would see the nation through to its first elections in 2020 and then retire however in recent months he has stated that he intends to run for the position. This has lead to some protestors saying he is acting against his word. Thousands took to the streets demanding that a referendum on term lengths and voting methods take place prior to elections beginning early next year. One protestor stated, "Melos did well in 2016 bringing us back together as a nation after the genocide but now he has been simply living on those good wishes. He has not capitalised on our resources, he has not made progress for our nation and I think a change is needed."

Counter protesters however said a referendum is not needed. "Melos is a man we owe our lives to. He guided us through dark times and stopped the corruption of the royal family. As long as this man has the desire to guide our people we should follow. If he wishes to postpone his retirement so what, he is the man our nation needs."

The President declined to comment saying simply, "This time next year I shall either be in my fishing boat or behind the Presidents desk, once I make my decision which it will be I shall tell the people."

Prior to the formation of the Republic of Marseilles Jean-Pierre Cantona was a local butcher in the Falguière district of Montaulon. During the Materna Crisis he along with around 500 other residents formed Real Marseille and waged a relentless guerilla campaign against forces loyal to former Duchess Alys. During the conflict he made contact with Nya Aland special forces and together the ever growing rebel group and the Alander liberated the capital prior to the arrival of CTO coalition forces. In the days that followed it was Mr.Cantona and Alander Birgit Starnd who penned the road map that saw a peaceful split of Aquitaine and Marseille as well as establishing the groundwork for the Republic. Mr.Cantona was named as the nations first President, a position that he held for just four weeks before resigning the position to allow elections. He refused to stand despite strong public support saying famously, "I am a butcher, I know about meat and I know how to use a knife, neither are skills required for leading a nation. I will be happy to return to making my customers happy and not dealing with the nonsense of statecraft."

Today his successor Emile Sauzee unveiled a plaque on the shop which is today run by Mr.Cantona's two sons Julian and Ruben. The plaque stated, "On this site President Cantona set the foundation to bring our nation freedom from tyranny. A grateful republic shall forever remember." Mr.Cantona was at the ceremony and stated, "What happened here is irrelevant. What happened on the streets of the city where our friends shed their blood is what needs to be remembered." The store was flooded by people attending the ceremony many of whom wanted to make a purchase simply to be able to get a carrier bag from the store. The shop is frequently busy with well wishers and displays behind the counter the flag of the old Duchy that was taken down by Jean-Pierre from the Duchesses Palace. Next to it is a torn and ripped Alander flag which was carried by Alander commandos during an operation to break Real Marseille members out of a prison, this saw Alander aircraft fly sorties over the city and the flag was used to identity friendly positions.

East Moreland is a major contributer to the Joint Emergency Team, a major non-governmental aid organisation. We are hoping that other nations with assets used by JET will also respond shortly. In addition to the JET assets we are currently mobilising we would like to utilise elements of our Air Force to bring in supplies, as well as troops belonging to the Royal Army Medical Corps. We shall also be contracting our Ui Cenneslaig allies asking for them to join us in bringing supplies in through the border you share with them.

APPLICATION TO HAVE SEITCH RECOGNISED AS AN INTERNATIONALLY IMPORTANT SITE

I am writing to the scholars of the Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation in order to request them to recognise the city of Seitch as an internationally significant site.

The city sits on the edge of the desert of Kaitaine in the far west of the nation. It is significant for four main reasons.

1. It is thought to be the only still inhabited city in the world which features high rise constructions made out of mud bricks.

2. It is home to the Palace of the Corrino family a ritual centre for the Bene Gesserit faith.

3. It is the only place in the world where the spice Melange, vital to the Bene Gesserit faith rituals, is produced.

4. It is considered the birth place of the Bene Gesserit faith.

In order to convince the respected scholars of this organisation please allow me to outline each reason in turn.

Built in the early 3rd Century AD the city is made out of a mixture of mud bricks and a limited amount of sandstone. While the vast majority of the buildings today date from the 16th Century they still use a largely traditional construction method. The city is contained within a 3 meter high wall which is made in the same manner of the buildings. It is believed that the city may feature some of the first "skyscrapers" as some of the largest buidlings have 12-15 floors, each floor contains four appartments. Not only does the construction method make the city rather unique the windows are often decorated with religious scripts from the Bene Gesserit faith. A large number of the appartments also contain balconies. Each block also contains a garden roof something that was thought important as the city sat on the edge of the desert agricultural land was at a minimum. Most of the blocks also contain significant underground constrcutions which in many cases have today become further living accomodation, shops or recreational facilities.

The city features a trademark narrow street, something that has prevented cars from entering the city and most commerce still relies on using porters to move goods through the city or convoys of donkeys. A handful of motorbike and mopeds do make their way through the streets though however these are not a common daily occurance. The city also see's an annual season where buildings are recovered in new layers of mud to ensure they stay in good condition throughout the year ahead. This has lead to the Festival of Mud whene the community take pride in coating the buildings while celebrating the cities existance.

Overlooking the city of Seitch from a rocky outcrop is the Corrino Palace, sometimes called the Palace of the Sands. It is the ancestoral home of the Corrino family who were made the guardians of the city of Seitch in the 12th Century. The family were considered to be among the most holy families by the Bene Gesserit faith and as such given dominion of the desert which features significantly in the faith's folklore. Additionally it gave them a unique status in the faith as the Palace is the place where the new harvest of the ritual spice Melange is blessed, not a single shipment of the spice may leave Seitch without passing through the Palace. The Palace itself is also a fort and was built to provide an additionally refuge for the people of Seitch in times of crisis. The Palace is today the official residence of Duke Niklaus Corrino.

The city of Seitch is also home to hundreds of what are called Spice Farms. These are large recessed stone tanks filled with sand and home to in same case hundreds of Kaitaine Sandworms, a unique species of sand dwelling worm. Every year the worms grow and shed their skin which is collected and ground up to make the red spice Melange which is a central part of the Bene Gesserit faith. Bene Gesserit folklore talks of how at one time their ancestors harvest the spice directly from the desert when the worms would grow up to 40 meters in circumfrance and some 400 meters long. Today however the worms grow no more than 30 centremeters long. Every year the tanks are emptied and the shed skins collected and ground up. Many small tradesman still use traditional methods where the work is done by hand, first by shovelling the sand out and sieving the sands to find the living worms, remove the deceased ones and most importantly find the shed skins. The Spice farm is the refilled with sand and the living worms replaced. In recent times however more modern Spice Farms have been built with devices built in allowing sand to drain out through a kind of filter which captures the worms and shed skins. It is believed that over two tons of spice is farmed in an average year. No spice is permitted to be used until blessed by the Sisterhood.

One of the key aspects of the Bene Gesserit folklore is that all four Holy Houses descend from an individual called Selim Wormrider. It is he who is thought to have established the first rules of the Bene Gesserit faith and was the first to discover the spiritual power of the spice Melange. Stories tell how Selim was outcast from his tribe and made to walk into the desert where the giant sandworms would consume him. He was gone for several years and naturally presumed dead until one day he returned for vengence against those who had sent him to the desert to die. Stories tell of how he had summound the largest of Sandworms known as Shai Halud, the creature thought to carry the dead to what lies beyond. The worm consumed those that had exiled him and left him alone on a rocky outcrop at the edge of the desert. It was here other tribes having seen the tracks of the giant sandworm found him meditating and where he established the beginnings of the Bene Gesserit faith. As such the city is today seen as the most holy place for the Bene Gesserit and therefore makes the city not just important to the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, its followers but also to the world as the Bene Gesserit faith today has crept into every corner of Mundus.

It is our hope therefore that this application will be accepted by the members of the Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation and that Seitch may be entered onto the register of protected sites.

Questions may be asked or debate held until Wednesday 3rd July 2019. After which voting shall open.

FOr those who don't know there has been a kind of TIO tradition of certain bands / musicians being from Mundus and us "claiming" them. Its been an oppurtunity to add cultural stuff to our nations, so here is a chance for our music types to get together. East Moreland has always been home to the regions annual music festival, it started as a bit of fun my first year here to play out a RP vignette, last year it grew into a massive multi-national event and this year its back and even bigger.

Dear Music Fans of Mundus

It's time once again for Glastomundus, a three day festival of music and art to be held in Glastonberry, East Moreland. The live music festival has a tradition for bringing music fans the best in music from all guitar based genres, as long as it's live it's in. This years festival will be aiming to return as much as possible to its roots.

The venue will be three stages set in the countryside of East Moreland, 200,000 tickets have been put aside. In addition to music there will be a fun fair, comedy tent, art tents and a whole host of other cultural events.

This year we'd like to get back to our roots of a live music festival showcasing the best of todays artists with kick ass bands and top performances.

The doctors had given Rhiannon permission to go out and about, it had been months and even the prospect of a lack of hair and a surgical mask she was excited. She'd enjoyed watching the parades of ceremonial troops at the Palace but today would be different, or at least her father King David had said so. It would see not just Morelanders taking part but also Bakkermayans and the descendants of the Koul family. The burial urns of the various members of the family had been transferred from Rokkenjima to Northfort and having spent several months in storage at the Royal Northfort University but today they would take what King David hoped would be their final journey from the Museum, through the Temple District and through the Palace of Northfort ground to the Ironside family mausoleum.


Fifty veterans of Red Legion stood ready to provide the escort to the urns and it was hoped that soon the Bakkermayan Horseman of Jekar, the descendants in military terms of the men in the urns. The streets of Northfort were lined with serving military members ready to provide an honour guard to the procession King David was even bedecked in his royal chains and crown meaning that today was effectively a royal funeral. Rhiannon was being kept in a car that would follow the procession as her father waited at the foot of the University plaza's steps patiently waiting for the visitors to arrive while he chatted with the Red Legionnaires.

It was a scene played out at the main office of almost every news outlet on Mundus at exactly 3am Alba Karinyan time. A locally recruited courier, usually from some well known major company, strolled up to the reception or security officer and delivered a brown padded envelope. The front bore no proper name or address and just read "FOR THE BOSS". Once the envelope had found its way to whoever was handed the job of dealing with it they discovered inside a portable hard drive, it was white and in one corner was a kind of stylised letter A, but beyond that the envelope was empty. With caution teams across Mundus plugged the device in and found just one folder, it was huge almost 1TB of data and labelled "Timed Files" A click revealed hundreds, if not thousands of files, a mixture of documents, photographs and sound files. They were each labelled with a date. The first one read 12April2019 and expectantly the staff tried opening it. It took a few seconds but then a video opened.


"Let me introduce myself. I am the older brother of Empress Clarissa, the rightful ruler of Alba Karinya. All you need know for now is that you can call me Trajan. She was a warrior goddess sent to our family in order to rid God's own continent of the filth that has degraded her beauty. Since 2 years ago this brave soul has been confined in the custody of the puppet Academican penal system. Her captivity a test of the faith of her loyal followers. We number few at present but as news of the Goddesses inevitable return spreads across Mundus the word of the Goddess will bring the people back to the light. You have been deemed worthy to share the insight of a living Goddess, you have been deemed worthy of helping her restore to Alba Karinya and then the world they glory of the divine. You will do that by sharing with the world what we have discovered. Each day you will receive by whatever means we see fit a password, that password will be a reward for sharing what we reveal to you with the world by whatever means you have at your disposal. Failure to share a revelation will see your password witheld and trust me some of what we have for you is golden media fodder. Once you have the password you may open that days information. We thank you in advance for sharing the information that shall change Mundus forever helping the sheep of Mundus embrace the saviour of the Goddess that is Empress Clarissa."

The video suddenly went blank and then a six digit number sprang up on the screen, "763281"

Across Mundus several journalists clicked on the next document and hit the numbers "763281"  A word document opened, it had a series of photos attached to it. The images were first of all the inside of what looked like a factory. It was hard to see what exactly was being done, the hundreds of images clearly taken on a poor quality camera that was possibly operating in secret. When you looked closely you saw logo's on overalls stating "SmartWar" a company that made hi-tech weapons in East Moreland. Soon after not revealing much however the images turned to schematics, professionally copied by the look of it. They were of the joint CNN produced Land Portable Vertical Launch System one of the newest weapons systems on the market. Finally was line upon line of numbers and letters, to the untrained eye it looked like a mess but to those educated in such things it was the coding language of various parts of the weapons system. The final few lines of the document however were the most revealing as it was an e-mail from Sir Harry Samuelson to SmartWar sent on the 7th April 2018 asking about the possibility of making a small tactical nuclear missile version of the system.

Across Mundus hundreds of journalists had just been given access to what was clearly some very sensitive data, what would they do with such information.

It was a lovely spring morning at Seabrooke a feint breeze rolled in off the Mhorish and out in the bay a few fishing boats bobbed around beyond the security line marked by a set of brightly coloured bouys. The flag on the parade squares flagpole gave the occasion snap as it fluttered in the wind. It was, at least in Myles opinion, the best time of year to arrive at SATC, if you arrived in intake one it was still winter, intake three you caught the harsh summer sun, and four saw the beginning of winter. It was Intake two that he thought had the best ride of the conditions, not that any conditions were great when you found yourself in his squad. "Ten minutes Drill Sergeant" a corporal came up to where Myles was standing on the old fortress wall looking out to sea, he found it calming watching the waves break on the beach.

"Cheers Corporal" he said as he checked his uniform was free from sand being blown in and headed towards the main gate. Every three months it was the same a buses full of potential new army officers turned up and for the next 22 weeks they'd be his to mould and shape into the future leaders of the East Moreland military. It was a duty he took seriously after all he'd see through his charges then spend the next 30 weeks helping some of them embed into his beloved Parachute Regiment. He made his way past the flag on the parade square turning his eyes to the right and saluting the flag as he passed. He walked alongside the looming shape of the H blocks that made up the accomodation the new recruits would be calling home for the first 16 weeks of training before they moved into the college building, if they made it that far. By the time he reached the front gate where a tank from the 1960's stood an ever watchful guard as a kind of ceremonial gate guardian the bus was pulling up. The other instructing staff looked at him waiting, he'd let the new recruits stew for a moment or two as he watched some get to their feet, others looking down at the staff looking for clues as to whether they were supposed to get off the bus or stay on. "Time to get this show on the road." Myles said as he tucked his polished pace stick under his arm and headed for the bus door. The civilian bus driver nodded a greeting to the tall NCO as he flicked the switch that made the doors hiss open. Myles stood in the aisle at the front of the bus and saw how around a quarter of the bus was on its feet retrieving bags and various other item. "Sit down" he roared down the bus and instantly almost everyone did. "You have not been told to get out your seats. You may be the future leaders of His Majesties glorious armed forces but you are yet to grow a brain, therefore the only things you do without my permission are blink and breath." He heard a few laughs, "Who is laughing? Which of you laughed? Did I tell you to laugh. I told you that you don't do anything until I tell you....that includes laugh." He had stormed a few paces down the bus. "Did you laugh." he pointed with the pointy polished bronze tipped end of his pace stick at a specticled young man who looked like he wasn't even old enough to shave yet.

"No sir." The new recruit said in a panic.

"Sir." Myles looked disgusted, it was an old act and something he went through every intake. "Sir!" he exclaimed once more. "Do I look like one of you wimps? No I don't." He looked down the length of the bus. "I am Drill Sergeant Killam. That means for the next 22 weeks as far as your concerned I am Helus. I determine who gets to be an officer and who gets to go back home and explain to their families why they are failures. From now on you speak only when invited to by one of us, and the last word out of your mouth is Drill Sergeant. Do you understand?" Mumbles came from down the bus. "Do you understand?"

"Yes Drill Sergeant" the bus echoed. Seemingly satisfied Myles headed down to the front of the bus and smartly turned back to face the back. "You have ten seconds to get your arses off this bus from when I say go." He could see people bracing to get moving and proceeded to go and stand outside. "Go" he bellowed and watched as several Corporals held up their hands showing their fingers ticking down. The recruits piled out the front and middle doors of the bus, each being half pushed towards a set of NCO's who were forming them up into a squad. A few had thought to bring their bag with them, or worse still plastic carrier bags which now got taken from them and flung to the side. The men where formed up in one squad while the women one next to them. Each of the new recruits had been told to turn up in suits, shirt and tie, even the females. "Everything you brought here with you is now contraband. Until Week six everything you need will be provided by His Majesty King David. If you have any mobile phones, wallets, keys, loose change, or anything else in your pockets you are to take an envelope off the NCO's pacing among you, place the objects in it and then place it on the ground in front of you." Several people did as instructed and the NCO's watched as people rummaged in pockets.

The next hour passed with the recruits getting their uniforms, PT gear, rucksacks and everything else a new officer recruit would need, each was shown their dorm, a long single room with ten beds down each side, a large metal wardrobe stood at the back of their personal space, the sides of which was formed by a desk and a wooden chair. A metal footlocker sat at the end of their bed and having been shown how to store everything they were given five minutes to get into PT gear and get outside. Myles was waiting for them, and got them quickly formed up in a squad. "Recruits" he began addressing them, "For the next few weeks we will focus on achieving a basic level of fitness and general military bearing. That means I will be bombarding you with information and you will retain it. If you fail to then this happens.......RIGHT TURN!" he yelled and the group faced the right. "Its about to get hot. BY THE RIGHT. AT THE DOUBLE QUICK MARCH" He watched as for a second or two the group seemed clueless as to what was happening, a handful began jogging clearly from the cadet forces or something, "THAT MEANS RUN FUCKWIT" he bellowed as he began chasing the group up the road between the H-Blocks. They ran several miles around the base before returning, puffing, panting and sweating on the road outside their block. "Everyone inside, get your fresh PT kit on and back out here in three minutes. GO" The group ran inside and a slam of metal doors could be heard as the group got ready. Moments later Myles began his countdown "FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO" the last man ran out the block and formed up on the road. Myles stood them at attention and walked into the dorm room, it was a mess, t-shirts all over the bed, pairs of shorts on the floor and half a dozen lockers left open. Myles headed back out, "SQUAD.....SQUAD SHUN!" he yelled and the group shuffled their tired feet together. "It's about to get hot" he informed them, "RIGHT TURN! BY THE RIGHT. AT THE DOUBLE QUICK MARCH!" It was a series of instructions they'd already begun to get familiar with and would soon forever be ingrained on their memory.

This volume intends to catologue the vast number of cultural and religious events that today form the very heart of Mundus' hectic social calendar. As such it should be considered a guide to globe hopping for the descerning traveller wishing to experience the finest of other cultures while enjoying a welcoming visit.

In 2015 the nation of East Moreland signed a trade deal with the Cross Straits Union that at the time was one of the largest trade deals signed in the history of Mundus. This was as part of our policy to allow the East Moreland market to be regulated but also open to as many nations as possible while at the same time providing East Moreland based companies to access markets overseas. With this in mind many agreements signed by our nation have seen a reducation in tariffs and barriers of entry for products. In the hope of continuing what has been a mutually beneficial policy we would like to discuss a similar arrangement with the TUNA nations. We already have strong trading partnerships with the Lodjains via the CNN, Dartfordia through our CSU deal and Bakkermaya through MICA, however these are developments I'd like to safe guard against by having a separate agreement with your organisation.

If it is an acceptable propersition I would like to attend a meeting between your organisation and ourselves to come to an arrangement that will prove positive for all parties involved.

February 2014	East Moreland Regency Crisis	King David East Moreland Achkaerin Dijel Prince James Blue Legion Borland Separatists	Following a period of increased Borlander activity in East Moreland the terrorist group got hold of military grade missiles from a smuggler who had stolen them from the Achkaerin military. These missiles were used to strike the city of Freestone. Days later the Borlanders used chemical gas to launch an attack on a hospital in which King David's mother was visiting, she was killed during the fire fight that erupted. The final part of this three pronged terror campaign however saw the King's aircraft shot down in the Alps during a return flight from an international rugby game. The attack was orchestrated by Prince James Ironside as a coup attempt supported by members of Blue Legion and the Borlanders in return for territory. King David was declared dead and Blue Legion used to secure the key elements of the nation. Soon evidence began to surface of the King's death being faked and this lead to Elpidia and Rokkenjima opposing the new government diplomatically. The East Moreland suspicion of foreigners, particularly from Ardia lead to a campaign against these embassies. Meanwhile East Moreland special forces under Alex Redfern had secured King David and supported by Special forces from Achkaerin and Elpida conducted a series of guerilla operations to bring the fact that the King was alive to media attention. Prince James used prisoners and Blue Legion to try and cement his authority but this failed and instead he resorted to threatening to use cruise missiles on major East Moreland cities to halt an assault on the Northfort Royal Palace and the Ostlake HQ. February 2014	Thematan Revolution	Loyalists Eliot Quins Rebels Quinist Supporters Rokkenjima Quinntopia Novincia Chernobereg Elpidia	Following months of raising tensions a rebellion against the authoritarian government of Themata began under renowned communist revolutionary Eliot Quin. As government forces had used rather brutal means against the rebels and Rokkenjiman air assets had been attacked by Themata a full scale war began. Along with rebel forces Rokkenjima, Quinntopia and Novincia forces engaged Themata government naval assets and landed troops beginning an invasion. Once this initial invasion was underway Chernobereg opened up a second front against government forces while Elpidia arrived to support the initial thrust. Feb 2014	Potenstologist Uprising	Great Jonathania Government Albanor Central Ossario Aeternum Potenstologist Extremists	Lead by religious extremists leader known as The Poten forces across the nation began a reign of bombings and an assault on the nations capital which saw the President flee. After hiding for some time the President was captured and was planned to be used in a ritual sacrifice by the rebels. Soon Central Ossario sent military support for government forces and along with Aeternum carried out a series of air strikes on Potenstologist forces helping turn the tide of the conflict. Much of the government forces advance back to the capital has become folklore, including strange tales of lions following the government forces and attacking only Potenstologist forces, this however is thought to be a metaphor. Eventually the capital was retaken and the government restored however The Poten escaped.	Government Victory
March 2014	Bechensteinian Civil War	Government Forces Bechenstein Rokkenjima Quinntopia Kazarovia The Holy Empire of Sagrada Novincia Rebels Bechenstein Breakaway Monarchy Monarchists	With tensions rising against Bechenstein President Gläuden a series of assassinations rocked the country as members of the Army and Air Force killed government loyal senior officers. Rokkenjima, Quinntopia and Kazarovia tasked naval force to the region but only after reassurances would be given by Glauden. Soon after two Bechenstein states declared themselves independent. Dartfordia took exception to these split away states becoming a monarchy and not reflecting the will of the people and so offered government forces moral support. The first Queen of this new monarchy was quick to distance the breakaway states from the original assassinations and called for talks. As Presidential forces attacked the new monarchy the majority of the Air Force deserted government forces. The government did however succeed in pushing into the territory of the new monarchy with aid from Quinntopian and Rokkenjiman naval ships. Soon the fighting saw monarchist forces pushed towards Novinica where they were engaged by their neighbours forces. Soon after the nation collapsed.	Non decisive.
March 2014	1st Safraen Conflict	CIS & Allied Forces East Moreland Achkaerin Dijel Central Ossario Aeternum (Non-CIS) USR (Non-CIS) V's Local Rebels [/b]	As a strange virus hit Safraen the nation effectively went dark. Having recently formed a close relationship with East Moreland and Achkaerin forces were dispatched to see what had happened. East Moreland also had a high profile terrorist subject and a Foreign Minister in the nation. Initial East Moreland forces landed following an ultra long range airborne assault which saw soon after Achkaerin forces help evacuate the terrorist suspect and foreign Minister. This initial airborne assault was commanded by Princess Freya and broke news of a virus outbreak. In the days that followed Achkaerin, East Moreland and Dijel forces landed in the nation to begin one of Mundus largest humanitarian operations.  Initial efforts began well with East Moreland forces setting up an operations base within the the capitals sports stadium while Dijel and Achkaerin forces held strategic ports and airports. Once Ossario and Aeternum arrived they began supporting patrols of the city. However mid operation the Regency Crisis in East Moreland saw a split with CIS forces and East Moreland ceased co-operation with their CIS allies. After a few weeks of manning several camps and positions the forces of the USR began approaching the capital. This was halted as East Moreland forces demolished buildings in strategic positions effectively forming a bottle neck in the city should the USR forces be hostile. The conflict was eventually ended when rouge elements in the nation where brought under control however the nation was split in two with CIS forces remaining as the USR refused to leave Safraen and established the Soviet Republic of Safraen. April 2014	Unrest in Ndambia	Loyalists Ndambia East Moreland Ossario Achkaerin Dijel Rebels Rouge Military Commanders	Following the percieved slight of a leading military commander by the Queen of Ndambia an attempted coup took place, initially this failed however plunged the nation into civil war. The Ndambian Air Force was compromised and as a result the CIS mobilised forces to conduct air strikes all but negating the rebels heavier weapons. While the fighting raged on several nations including Quinntopia, Rokkenjima and the Commonwealth of Man offered humanitarian aid however only Quinntopia followed through on this.	Royalist Victory
May 2014	The Illumic Stand Off	Seaforth East Moreland KaiserAdolf V's CSTO Elpidia Quinntopia Rokkenjima Dartfordia Quinntopia	Following the Seaforthian Civil War which restored the monarchy of the Rhodes family the nations of East Moreland and Seaforth became concerned by the ammount of naval activity in the region by the CSTO nations. As a result KasierAdolf, Seaforth and East Moreland began co-operative operations in the region as a show of force sending a signal that CSTO forces were not needed for security. Seaforth passed a decree stating inspections in its EEZ would take place of all non-Illumic ships leading to protests by Rokkenjima. With a stand off forming the Union of Nordic People's stepped in offering to mediate a resolution however tensions where increased when  Beatrice Anselmo stated that Rokkenjima intends to ‘stay as an Illumic and Cotf Arayne power’  The CSTO nations however insisted that as Elpidia was allowing forces to operate from bases there and was sovereign territory what Elpidia permitted was "none of anyone elses business" This saw a citizen protest group in Seaforth called the "None of your Damn business’ movement" spring up. They used this CSTO arguement as a means of protest which included filling a river flowing through Seaforth and into Elpida with pig faeces as well as forming a garbage fleet and sailing it around Rokkenjimas waters using "innocent passage".Later ironically these ships were set adrift and a year later captured by Borlanders to form the Royal Borland Navy. The CSTO nations (Rokkenjima the exception) failed to take up the UNP offer of mediation. Eventually the proposed building of a CSTO base was cancelled.	No armed conflict. Diplomatic stand down.
May 2014	Jonathanian Civil War	Democrats V's Republicans backed by Dominicus V's International Peacekeepers East Moreland Rokkenjima UNNA Seaforth	Following a Democratic election victory the nation descended into civil war. International peacekeepers stepped in with East Moreland and Rokkenjima establishing a no fly zone and naval prescence. The nation of Dominicus while not directly taking part in the war supported the Republican forces whom lacked support from their own nations military. Meanwhile using the no fly zone as a buffer UNNA Marines landed to create a safe haven for refugees while Seaforth headed towards Northern cities. This no fly zone was encroached on by Democrat fighter aircraft which were shot down by East Moreland aircraft. However as the Democrat President ordered internment camps for suspected Republican supporters the military leadership of the nation switched sides and the nation became divided before falling into obscurity. June 2014	Iron Crown Coup	Loyalists Elpdia East Moreland Iron Crown	Using the MCUR Conference as a cover a terrorist group known as the Iron Crown, which was later discovered to be lead by senior leadership of the Elpdian Intelligence forces, assassinated the nations leadership along with Peter Knutsson, the Prime Minister of the UNP by blowing up a hotel in Dartfordia where the conference was taking place. Soon after martial law was declared by the leader of the Elpidian Intelligence Forces. In an effort to prevent the flow of information the Iron Crown cut mobile and internet access across the nation. However as information began to leak out the Elpidian minister at the MCUR conference declared themselves a government in exile and soon the UNP, Rokkenjima and East Moreland recognised this as the legitimate government. With international recognition coming in quickly for the official government, an approaching East Moreland military task force and the Elpidian military rallying to the legitimate government the Iron Crown dissolved and disappeared. September 2014	2nd Safraen Conflict	Republic of Safraen East Moreland Dijel Achkaerin Verover Seaforth Soviet Socialist Republic of Safraen USR Thomrada Zachachevania	Following the conclusion of the 1st Safraen Conflict the nation was split into the Republic which was supported by the CIS while the eastern part of the nation became the Soviet Socialist Republic under the control of the USR. The conflict started when SSR forces began using the virus that had caused the first crisis as a biological weapon and CIS forces responded. The invasion began with a covert insertion of East Moreland forces to take out air defences followed by formations of Seaforth, Dijel and Achkaerin armour crossing the border. Verover followed several hours later. While USR forces were initially pushed back the arrival of Thomrada and Zachachevania forces at the front slowed the advance. It was soon discovered the Verovian forces were executing prisoners of war and Seaforthian troops were sent to relieve them however the Verovian troops instead opened fire on the Seaforthians killing a large number of Seaforthians. The Soviet forces found it difficult to maintain their supply lines once air defences had been breached and East Moreland special forces targeted Soviet Airfields, meanwhile the armoured columns of the other CIS nations continued pushing into the Soviet sectors. Finally the CIS forces captured the city of Naidensthall and the Soviet forces surrendered thus unifying the nation. East Moreland special forces rendevoused with those of Dijel, Achkaerin and Seaforth and the Safraen and Meche border and as CSTO forces were engaging the Soviets in Meche proceeded to cross the border and began operations in Meche. In the days that followed Pytor Brook the commander of Verovan forces was arrested and put on trial, he was originally imprisoned in Achkaerin having been the first person to be found guilty under the Uppsala Convention. He is currently however in custody in Seaforth(correct as of Feb.2019)	Republican Victory
September 2014	Soviet-Meche Conflict	Meche Tytor East Moreland Seaforth Achkaerin Rokkenjima Soviet USR Zachevania	Meche had always had a small Communist party prescence however in the elections of this year an anti-communist party won and talked of banning the Communists and joining the CSTO and permitting a base in the nation. As such the USR decieded to invade its neighbours and impose Soviet control supported by Zacheavania. The overwhelming force of the USR military quickly pushed Meche back. Once forces from Tytor arrived to aid Meche the relentless advance was halted. As the war began to turn into a stalemate the forces of the CIS crossed the border in the North from Safraen opening up a second front on the percieved flank of the Soviet forces allowing them to cut supply lines to the front. In the days that followed Tytorian and Meche forces began to push the USR back. Soon after the Rokkenjiman military arrived conducting operations from their naval assets in the region. Days later Quinntopian forces landed from the sea further overwhelming the USR forces. Once the Soviets were pushed out of Meche a conference took place in which the USR agreed to end hostilities while Meche would agree not to join the CSTO.	Meche Military Victory

The Slavic Republic however was short living as soon after the Communists retook the country becoming Rodinha and leaving Kaitaine as the worlds foremost Communist nation. Brief Biography	A rather keen hunter he has earned a reputation for frequent visits to Zimalia hunting wild game. He is however a keen conservationist supporting several wildlife charities in Academica. During the Civil War he lead a small loyalist militia group behind enemy lines after he was cut off from returning home. He has spent most of his life working in the nations ministries as a lead legal advisor	Spent much of her life dedicated to bringing up her rather large family. She is a keen dog owner and has run a business breeding pedigree dogs of various breeds. During the civil war she took refuge in East Moreland but two of her sons did fight for government forces.	Educated at the Northfort Academy for Girls. She has worked as a Cancer researcher in various countries across Mundus and had a brief spell in 2017 working for JET in Krokom. During the civil war she was out the country but was a leading supporter of several Academican refugee actions.

The three candidates to the throne of Academica had been brought to AK City under a heavy prescence from East Moreland military and now found themselves in one of the cities largest University auditoriums, TV cameras and the worlds press had trained their gaze on them as had a large audience made up of those who had applied to attend and been drawn by lottery. The three sat ready to answer any questions their future subjects or the world media had to ask them.

Here in Mundus there will be a significant number of abbreviations and groups flying around. For a newcomer they can seem intimidating so I've tried here to make a simple guide to what's going on. Every nation will want to join some or all of them and so here is my list of the good, the bad, the ugly and where you can find them.

MUST HAVES (Ok so you don't have to sign them but these are the foundations for how our world works)

1. Mundus Convention of Universal Rights Think UN Human Rights Charter. Controversal as some say it takes sovereignty away from nations, meanwhile hippies others say it doesn't go far enough.

2. Uppsala Convention This is our simplified Geneva Convention.

3. Free Seas Concordt Its a straight rip off of UNCLOS (the link lets you read all 202 pages) essentially it says the following of importance

i) You get 12nm of territorial water (where you're less than 12 miles away its split evenly)
ii) Everyone has the right to "innocent" passage through territorial waters.
iii) You get a contiguous zone of a further 24nm
iv) You get an exclusive economic zone of a further 200nm

2. Treaty for the Protection of Hygelac and Hrothgar Stuff to keep the Penguins and Polar Bears safe
