It seems that the weather hadn't been kind to Sutherland's plans. The land was already cursed by an ever present heatwave, but today there just had to be storms rolling into Malboura. Jacob Gathum, the relatively young, light skinned, brown haired, blue eyed and averagely built Sutherian diplomat had to watch the initial moments of the meeting intently on a tablet on his private flight into Bretonnia. He couldn't wait for the pizza, it was absolutely mouth-watering. Once the flight touched down in the Bretonnian runway, Jacob wasted no time in rushing to his destination, though not before he tidied his black pinstripe suit, gelled up his head of hair and ensured his bags were packed. The distinguished man quickly made his way through the airport, gliding through security measures and ID checks to the outside of the airport, where he met his official escort waiting for him.

As the drive lagged on he kept his eyes away from the eye-candy of the city around him, and instead had them glued to his tablet screen. He had watched as the meeting went from small-talk, to the plage outbreak, to the reason they were all there and now a tiny yet important definition of the term 'republic' in the draft. Bloody rubbish, Jacob thought to himself, this should've been sorted earlier, but I suppose that's partially what the meeting's about.

The thought receeded from Jacob's mind, and as it did the escort vehicle came to ia stop as the driver simply looked back to Jacob and nodded,, signaling that they were at their destination. Jacob exited with all his luggaage, tablet still in hand, and made his way through the building. Eventually, after some help from friendly workers in the building, Jacob found his way to the meeting room. He stood outside the large door, taking a couple of breaths before he would essentially march on in there. He breathed, in, and out.

"G'day mates!" Jacob declared as he pushed open the door for the meeting room, entering as he did. "I am the diplomatic, and unfortunately late, representative of Sutherland at this meeting" He continued as he made his way to the leftover pizza. He took a slice and continued speaking, or suitably mumbling as he munched on some pizza, "Mmmm, this is good pizza. Anyways, Sutherland agrees with the definiton put forth by Cikniye"

He got the impression from President Lauvard that this was a friendly occassion, but Jacob hoped he hadn't just gone too casual.

Darren Wiliams sat through the meeting mostly silent, the ever-ageing 61-year-old Suvvo's feelings represented the sentiment of his nation, that the meeting was nothing but useless bureaucracy and all around absolute nonsense. It annoyed him more when the idea of gender reassignment therapy was brought on to the table for a human rights discussion, seriously a topic that should be left to the states to decide. The old man stood up, rickety in his stance, and made Sutherland's position clear.

"Sutherland opposes the Alander amendment and supports the removal of Article 13."

Darren sat back down, blabbering to himself about how rubbish this all was in typical Suvvo fashion. He appreciated Neu Uburzis' stance against and he took note of it.

Lucas' eyes instantaneously widened to the sound of screaming and the light of the sun, unsure of the time. His vision blurred a little until he raised his hand above his eyes, then pushing back on his other hand until he was sitting. Lucas sat there for a little bit, staring into the small crashing waves in front of him, thinking about a lot. Survival skills learnt from television, the number of others in his situation, images of home, all flew by in his head as he stared into the water.

"PLEASE!"

He snapped out of thought, the cries for help simply too loud to ignore. Although it annoyed him to no end, it snapped him out of his thoughts and motivated him to start working. He began by using a large curved piece of bark from a nearby tree to curve SOS into the sand, followed by the laborious task of compiling all the nearby rocks and pebbles into the SOS. There weren't enough rocks, only about a third of the first S was filled, but he thought an hours work was enough. The crying pleas plagued his ears for the time he worked, so once he finished up he decided to start heading towards the source.

Walking towards his left, if he were facing the beach, Lucas began to feel hungry. His stomach became as wavey as the water that was crashing a few meters towards him and the rolling started to take a toll on him. After he looked down to clinch his stomach, he stared straight at the sight of others. He saw a man talking to another man who was quivering as he knelt in the ground, presumably the source of the screaming, as well as two women standing further back. He started moving towards them, yelling at them with a faked Suvvi optimism from eighty meters away "G'day mates, how're you all looking?"

It brings me joy to know that the sacrament of marriage is being undertaken, some of my best memories are those of my own marriage, so I'd love to attend. Unfortunately, however, other matters in Sutherland require my attention. Be sure to expect the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margaret Gillard, to attend the wedding on my behalf. I hope this becomes a day to remember for everyone, even for me all the way in Sutherland.

Country full Name: Republic of Sutherland

Role Played in Coanchua's History: During the Great Mundus War (in which Sutherland was anti-Ardian), a lot of the fighting for the newly independent either happened in West Sutherland or (more important to this) in the Channel. During the Channel Campaign, which went from around 1920-1935, a lot of young men died as part of what's essentially this world's Gallipoli. The SANACs (our ANZACs), left a large cultural impact on the country as so many men died. With this in mind, the Sutherians became very pro-Marigold, believing that they had earned their right to the fruitful Matilda Channel.

Modern Stance: Because of the history laid out above, the majority of Sutherland and it's current government is pro-Marigold. The majority of Suvvos believe that any new shake-ups might deal a bit of a blow to the Sutherian economy, as well as be a major offence to their SANAC history. The only group in Sutherland mainly against the Matilda Accord are the Indigenous Sutherians, who are sympathetic to the Coanchuan Rebels who believe they're like themselves who had to deal with white Sutherians on their land.

More Details/Ideas: The Indigenous Sutherians will probably speak out very loud against the Sutherian government, causing potential racial tensions and riots on the level of the Cronulla Riots.

It was truly calm that night aboard the Sea Jewel. Lucas Madden had thus far enjoyed the trip, it would probably be the only time ever he'd be in places like Himeyama and Ui Cenneslaig. His various jobs at Lisbane fast food chains would never be able to afford him such luxuries. His trip was accosted by his rich uncle Sam, the millionaire owner of the Lisbane City Zoo. He thought it weird how his uncle could pay for such a trip, yet never thought about offering him a job. He let the thought flow by however, the trip was amazing thus far, even if he didn't have a plan. He was especially fond of the couple of days he spent in Ui Cenneslaig. He was definitely a sore thumb in that place, but the sites and taking in the culture were all worth it.

At that time of evening when it happened, Lucas could be found in his room playing chess against an app on his tablet. After losing an innumerable amount of times to the bot on easy mode', Lucas frustratingly decided to head out onto the vibrant evening deck. Still in his pyjama suit, unfitting for the setting, he found a spot to sit and read his monthly edition of White Dwarf, a monthly miniatures magazine he had a subscription to back home.

He dove into articles upon articles, a lot better than the chess AI he left in his room. He got back on the road of enjoyment he'd had for the majority of the trip. But things don't last. The ship started to shake. First, it was barely noticeable, masked by his fidgety legs. Then it started to rattle the chair he sat on, even make it move. He put down the magazine in fear and looked directly frontwards. Fire. Before he even had time to react it shook once more, with enough force to send him over the ship's railing and into the cold water.

He couldn't remember what happened next. All he knew then was that he'd survived, and he woke up somehow miraculously floating on a piece of rubble with his legs limp in the water. He kneeled on the rubble, trying his best to keep balance as he drifted in the ocean. He waited on that rubble for hours. He became hungry. Thirsty. Depressed.

But he saw something. In the distance an island. It lit a spark in Lucas. He paddled as far as his arms would take him, and when that wouldn't do he kicked with all the might of a man on a mission. By what felt like midday he made it to the island, tired from all the free exercise. As he made it to the shore he fell on his back, and went to sleep again. He needed all the rest he could get, he'd plan his survival when he woke up.

The Dreamtime is a term devised by early Ardian Colonists to refer to a semi-religious and cultural worldview attributed to Indigenous Sutherian beliefs. The Dreaming is used to represent many Indigenous concepts of "time out of time," or "everywhen," when the land was inhabited by ancestral figures, often of heroic proportions or with supernatural abilities. They were often distinct from the "gods" of much more modern faiths, as they did not control the material world and were not worshipped, but only being revered.

Many of the stories from the Dreamtime were often used to explain Indigenous connections to ancestors and their native lands, such as the formation of geographic features or reasons for natural occurrences. The Indigenous Sutherians had no fully developed systems of writing before the Ardian Empire arrived, so the stories contained in the Dreamtime were kept alive entirely by millennia-old oral tradition and dance. Despite most stories varying amongst the thousands of tribes, the Dreamtime is still a uniting symbol of Indigenous Sutherian culture that inspires all who hear it.

Now the whole tedious commy business with Artyomov done and dusted, President Truman decided it was appropriate to turn towards something with a little more PR involved. The majority of people in Sutherland were Catholics, Malcum and his family included, so it was only fitting that he and his wife Mary attend one of the most Catholic things in all of Mundus. That being Michaelmas in the middle of the Statum Ecclesiasticum.

 President Truman was a pious man since his birth, the type of man who could be seen attending mass on the Sabbath Day, saying his prayers and taking his vitamins. His upper-class background raised him in such an environment, he was raised as an ideal Sutherian, family values, mateship and all of it. He was quite appealing to the average Sutherian, the ideal man to lead their country. This was meant to further improve approval ratings back home, but Malcum was genuinely delighted to be in this situation. Mary was almost a female counterpart in that sense, being raised in an upper-class family too, her successful real estate family believed to be related to Sutherian saint, Saint Maria McKillop. She was even more excited than Malcum to be in the Ecclesiastic States, this being the closest to her God she'll ever be in life.

"Oh, my dear such a beautiful place this is!" Mary remarked, bewildered by the Papal architecture from the backseat of their Presidential Cadillac. "Yes my dear," Malcum replied, "wait 'til we reach the basilica." In no time at all, only minutes after their complimentary remarks, were by a side entrance to the hallowed St. Peter's Basilica. The Cadillac parked itself outside the side entrance, it's left side facing the welcoming committee. The driver stepped out of the standard Sutherian left-side driver seat door to open the door for the President and the First Lady. Malcum stood out of the car first, holding out his hand to gently lift Maria out of the car like a gentleman. As they stood out of the Cadillac they linked arms like any devoted couple and made their way towards the welcoming committee.

PRESIDENT TRUMAN MAKING STRIDES IN FIRST 100 DAYS

100 days ago today Malcum Truman of the Liberal Democratic Party was sworn into the office the President of Sutherland. He has wasted no time to implement domestic policies promised during his presidential campaign. He and the new government have implemented the 20% flat tax with a §30 000 threshold, as well as signing an executive order for the removal of sin taxes, which could see potential as a bill in the coming months. There are still many policies which are left on the president's to-do-list, however, including industry deregulations, giving states the power to impose taxes otherwise reserved to the federal government and pulling back funds from government climate change organisations to encourage private solutions.

On the international side of things, however, President Truman has been the most out-there president ever. Not since after the World War has any Sutherian administration undertaken any more diplomatic visits. President Truman is currently in the capital city of Communist Artyomov, Moscow, discussing ties between two unlikely nations with President Maxim Ivanoff. Many political commentators have criticized the president for this trip, commenting on how anti-communist the Liberal Democrats are.

President Truman made this statement on the meeting:

Despite ideological differences, I certainly don't believe this should be a barrier between two nations ability to communicate with one another diplomatically. Not unless any of their policies or actions infringe on the people or the nation of Sutherland, I see no reason for the government to walk by open doors.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Margaret Gillard has responded to a Rokkenjiman proposal for a Trans-Ardian Partnership and railway. The railway is set to run from Gowu, through Sutherland and all the way to Himeyama on the Horn of Ardia Sutherland has generally yearned for some form of a continental railway for quite some time, so the new government was quick to hop on the opportunity to partake in any discussions concerning the project.

Lastly, Vice President Max Howard will be travelling with Mountjoy to partake in the celebration of the Day of the Charge, celebrating the nations 350th birthday. This will hopefully be the last step in laying the foundations for Sutherian foreign diplomacy, where Sutherland will be able to establish worldwide connections with other countries. Once President Truman returns from Moscow, we can expect to see more from the president.

What if any military threats does your nation face? Not many, maybe an occasional extremist attack once in a decade.

What is your nations landscape like? Pretty much Australia (note the Outback):


How technologically advanced is your nation? The Sutherian Army is technologically sophisticated yet relatively small.

Historically how has your military been used? Mostly for defence, with the exception of the World War (or whatever it's going to be) where the army was used for ANZAC/Gallipoli style amphibious and ground operations. Besides this, it has also been used for military interventions and peacekeeping.

What is your nations current foreign policy stance? E.g emerging from isolation / Building trade connections/ worried about the monster coming over the hill etc.

It has relatively emerged from isolation but in a very conservative manner. Besides Artyomov, it's going to try to align itself with nations that share similar ideals. It will try to get the most out of trade connections for the country itself. However, this won't stop it from hopping into global events to assert itself into the international stage (especially if it involves allies).

Since President Malcum Truman as off half-way across the world representing Sutherland in Artyomov and Foreign Minister Margaret Gillard was working on Trans-Ardian negotiations, Vice President Max Howard was next in line to represent the new Sutherland diplomatically. Although growing further and further secular by the day, Sutherland was still a majority Catholic nation, so Malcum saw it fit that Sutherland partakes in the celebrations. This would be the first time in quite a while that Max would travel outside of Sutherland, so he'd make sure to make the most of the festivities in Mountjoy.

Max, making sure to maintain his public composure, managed to find the group of representatives, the Ecclesiastic Secretary of State's attire sticking out like a black and red sore thumb. As he approached he was able to make out a little bit of gift-exchanging. It struck a cord in his brain, he remembered the text Malcum had sent him from Artyomov a few hours ago.

Don't forget to give them the boomerang m80. It's gonna be our diplomatic calling card, so don't forget it.

He made a mental note of it.

Max then walked up to the gathering leaders and diplomats presenting himself to Lascelles. "Good day from Sutherland, Lascelles." He said as cordially as could be. Max immediately began to draw out a mahogany wooden box. He opens it facing towards Lascelles, inside laying a boomerang, elaborately designed with Indigenous Sutherian art. "Please accept this on behalf of Sutherland. It's a boomerang, formerly an Indigenous Sutherian hunting tool, it's now a symbol of cooperation between the traditional custodians of our land and our modern inhabitants, now hopefully the rest of Mundus, particularly now Sutherland and Mountjoy." He bowed as he handed the box closed to Lascelles.

SANAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Sutherland which honours and respects the memories and contributions of those who suffered to protect the sovereignty and independence of Sutherland during the World War. During the World War, in which Sutherland was on the side of the Allies, many young men were encouraged to enrol in the SANACs (Sutherian Army, Naval and Air Corps) with promises of mateship and a chance to fight the good fight. Although before deployment the SANACs did develop a strong cultural mateship and patriotism, it didn't stop the reality of war from devastating the SANACs, them having amongst the highest number of casualties of the war, often for little to no gain.

Many of the SANACs were encouraged to write diaries, so that they may return to their quiet hometowns or families with their memories of glory. Unfortunately, however, many of them never returned at all. Many families were left to mourn the loss of their boys to conflict, only left with the diaries that their sons wrote personally handed to their families by their remaining SANAC mates. The diary entries of these brave young men now immortalise them forever within the heart of Sutherland, as we can now truly know what it is to serve your country, with faith, friends and duty.
