"Hey now, I kinda, like, have a name." The man sighed upon being identified as 'the Cascadian.'  "Whatever." He scoffed to himself, off to a great start immediately he thought. He himself caught the eye of the Werman girl, the cultural gap between the two by far being the smallest. He finally caught up to her when they were looking for dorms. "Hey, uh-.. I'm Cliff, one of the medical students." He paused awkwardly as they both entered a dorm room with what was admittedly a nice view "I just noticed we seem to well, kinda be in the same boat."

The twenty two year old departed the plane, wearing a flannel jacket, jeans, sneakers and a beanie. His flight had, of course, arrived late from Harbordale. Stupid late september snow delaying flight n'at. He had attended the prestigious Victoria State University for his pre-med emergency medicine degree, and when offered the chance to go abroad to study he took it; Cause, like, why not. He departed the terminal to find a bunch of over sore-thumbs in the crowd of native Chanalites; these were probably the people he was supposed to link up with.

He quickly moved over to them, finding a group of people in the middle of some kind of conversation. "It's like, hot, eh?"

The three Cascadians shrugged, Minerva and James sharing more wine as they noted Maria seemed to be texting someone to themselves. Upon the fine Admiral's arrival, Minerva returned the handshake on behalf of the family."Quite indeed." Minerva nodded at the troublemaking remark, pulling the seat out between herself and Maria. "Please, take a seat. We'd love to hear. Plus we got wine." She laughed. Across the table, Millicent noticed Charles awkwardly looking at Najm and kind of dozed off. Seizing the moment, she delivered a rather harsh poke underneith the table, looking innocent by the time he turned to notice what had happened.

Harbordale International Airport, the largest airport in the nation by far, features six runways and three terminals. The private terminal had been cloed off entirely for use by foreign dignitaries, the terminal itself a lavish lounge with numerous spaces, a bar, and a waiting area for the coming and going convoys throughout the day to shuttle dignitaries to the city proper. Upon landing, dignataries departed directly into the terminal where they were greeted with the ceremonious cordiality affiliated to most of these diplomatic visits; a Marine band playing the dignataries' nations national anthem, several diplomatic officers to guide them and plenty of security.

Upon further evaluation the clockwork of the busy terminal became evident; with the coming and going of diplomatic cars and police escorts every fifteen to twenty minutes to shuttle various figures to the Harbordale city center where the parade would be taking place. Things seemed to be going smoothly, at least, for now.

Major Cities - Harbordale

The largest city at 600,000 and also the capitol is Harbordale, which resides on the Victoria coastline. The city  majorly resides on a peninsula; jotting out into the Bay of Liberty with bridges connecting it to the mainland as well as the peninsula itself. The city is home to several miles of beaches, a bustling commercial center, Cascadia's national government and Victoria's state government.

Government

The city is overseen by a Council, with no overseeing 'mayor' - This is not a coincidence, with Harbordale's position as home to the national government and Victoria's state government, the city charter is intentionally ran by a council of five members (each elected from a district) to avoid having a single executive figure in a city with a governor and the nation's Premier.

Emergency Services
Harbordale as the largest city respectly carries the nation's largest municipal police force at 3,400. Emergency Medical Services are handled by the Harbordale Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, which handles all emergency medical services and heavy rescue. Fire suppression is handled by the Harbordale Fire Department. Several detachments of Cascadian Mounted Police are present, with the primary duties of protecting national government locations as well as the Premier.

Points of Interest

Victoria State House
The home of all operations of Victoria's state government, the Victorian State House dates back to the original Colonial Parliament Building built in 1832. Showing the best architecture of the era, and as the oldest state house among the five Cascadian States, the building is recognized as a landmark by the Cascadian government.

Cascadian National Assembly Building
Built in 1974, the National Assembly Building is the meeting place of the Cascadian People's Assembly. The new building was built after the original, built in 1921, was majorly damaged by a fire in 1968. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Premier's Residence
The Premier's Residence is perhaps world renowned as among the most 'average' Executive Mansions - if it could be called a mansion - on Mundus. A relatively modest two story, six bedroom house houses the Premier and family and attains to most executive business. The house is currently occupied by Premier Minerva Todd, her husband James, and their daughter Millicent. The 19th century house was donated to the National Government by the late General Edward Mudd in 1923, who after a personal dispute with his children gave the house to the government instead, who established it as the Premier's residence. A renovation was authorized in 1986 by the National Assembly to establish two 'wings' on each side of the house.

Victoria Governor's Mansion
The Governor's Mansion, once the Colonial Governor's Mansion was built in 1856 and is a sprawling complex which handles all of the state executives affairs. The mansion is open to touring Monday to Friday 8am to 2pm.

Cascadian Steel Tower
Famously "Built only with Cascadian Steel" the Cascadian Steel Tower is the largest building in Cascadia at 101 stories tall. The chief renter of the building, and its namesake, is Cascadian Steel Incorporated, one of the nation's largest corporations, and one of the largest steel producers on Mundus.

"Orion, yes, the soon-to-be crowned emperor." Minerva shrugged, sipping more of her wine. "Tragic, the accident really was." She shrugged, looking around the table before her daughter commented. "Hey, that's why i'm glad I'm not royalty...being forced to run a country really takes the fun out of it." causing laughter all around.

"Well, indeed, quite ironic we all ended up at a table anyways given our proximity. Perhaps you could fetch your mother to join us?" Minerva turned to Maria, nodding.

The three sat down opposite to the Rashidunians, spreading the food Minerva had fetched amongst them. Minerva and James taking refils on their wine from a passing waiter. "Quite the adventure the two of you had then" Minerva remarked, looking between Millicent and Charles. She giggled lightly as she looked between the two of them, seemingly having a motherly moment. She turned back to Hans and company, "So, what brings the fourof you to East Moreland then?" She turned to Maria, not missing a beat. "Forgive me, but how did someone of your standing end up a baker in East Moreland?"

State Ministry of Cascadia

Revolution Day

Leaders of the World,

It has been one hundred and seven years since we declared our independence from Orania on September 9th, 1910. As with every year, we hold independence celebrations including fireworks, a military parade, and a gala. However, for the first time as a signal of renewed international cooperation, we are inviting international delegations to attend. A small contingent from attending nations may be in the parade as well.

We look forward to seeing you,
Sidney Stewart
Secretary of State

Minerva sat her daughter down. She was getting too big to carry, as much as she hated to admit it. "Well, you made a friend then, Millie?" The two shrugged, looking down at their daughter, who returned the favor. "I guess?.." She looked confused, still wrapping her head around the whole situation. At least she wasn't dead.

"I suppose all works out in the end then" Minerva shrugged, looking between the five or six of them. "Let's find a table then, yeah?"

Millie shook as the room burst into commotion, taking the opportunity to break free of Charles, rubbing her now red wrist. She looked around as the man pulled them aside, announcing their presence as her parents finally stepped forward. "What were the two of you doing?!?" exclaimed James, Minerva picking up her daughter and holding her. "Well, you two made a bit of a mess then." She looked over at Maria, "I'm going to assume you weren't trying to kidnap my daughter, miss." She laughed, obviously being sarcastic. "Say thank you to the kind lady, Millicent." She waved at Maria, "Thanks, miss..." She murmered, evidently embarassed.

The three waited for the King and company to arrive to claim their son. Evidently someone had a little bit of explaining to do.

BALLAD OF THE GREEN BERETS

 Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret

Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, Cascadia's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret

Trained to live off nature's land
Trained in combat, hand-to-hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage peak from the Green Berets

Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, Cascadia's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret

Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request

Put silver wings on my son's chest
Make him one of Cascadia's best
He'll be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret.

She took a taste of her food, releasing a light smile "It does taste very nice indeed. Thank you for the selection." She took some more with her tea, "Well, I've been in diplomatic service most of my adult life, working my way up from a lowly diplomatic officer, then the Ambassador to Foxtrove for several years, before moving up to Achkaerin, and finally here. I suppose I kind of float around wherever the Secretary needs me." She laughed, taking yet more of her food. "I don't mind it, really, Lets me see a lot more of the world. What about you?"

"I mean-.." She was cut off by him grabbing her hand and taking off, so, well, she was along for the ride. Noticing the snacks, she did finally submit and feign her best puppy dog eyes. Which, admittingly, wasn't difficult.

Adult's Table

"It depends on where. A vacation to the countryside will cost more, but it's worth it in my opinion." He took another sip, and a bite of the pig. "Tyrrieg does sound interesting" He nodded, "If the royal family is ever interested in vacationing here though, we can see what we can do, absolutely." He nodded to the man, looking around. "I probably should get back to my wife and the kid before she kills me." He laughed.

'I suppose it differs on what kind of vacation you are looking for, my friend, Harbordale, our capitol, is a wonderful city to be in all round. "I-..I mean...sure" Minerva shrugged, by now conceding herself to her ad-hoc fate for the night. She sighed, indicating the surety of them loosing their seats of they stood. "Watch Millie, would you then? I'll go grab us some food." The girl's protests of "Hey!Icanwatchmyse-" were cut off by her mother's stare. "I'll be right back."

Somewhere else

"I mean-... Life's pretty good...Depends on where you are...Depends what drug..." He shrugged, "If we're going to keep doing this I'll need to take notes." He laughed, taking a sip of wine. "For the most part it's temperate - depends on the season. Unless you're up in the mountains of course. "And I mean, drugs? Depends on the drug..We don't exactly hand out Heroin or anything.."
