Map / MAP PURGE NOTICE 2018
« on: September 18, 2018, 08:21:40 PM »
Attention everyone

As Cartographer I'm giving notice that at the next update it is my intention to conduct what I refer to as a map purge (happens once a year), inactive nations will be removed which will clear several sought after territories, I'm sorry but there comes a point when we have to remove inactive nations that have just sat there and no communication has been received from the players.

The map purge will occur with the next update which I will delay until the 28th of September to give people time to let either myself or Dave (as RP Mod) know that they want to stay on the map. This does not apply to the active players.

If anyone has a query grab me on Discord.

Diplomacy and Events / Mr Ravenswood Goes to Pyrena
« on: August 29, 2018, 06:59:41 PM »
The flight from Achkaerin to Rokkenjima had been on the agenda for a while, in truth it hadn't been planned to occur for a few more days mainly because of an annual business matter that needed to be attended to but typically as seemed to be the case on Mundus things were getting out of control rapidly. So here Emerson Ravenswood was sat on his jet heading to take up his new responsibilities as the Viceregent of Rokkenjima a few days earlier than he'd intended, and who did he have to thank for the accelerated timetable? Well that would be firstly the Heyran Government and secondly the Empress of Rokkenjima, he wasn't entirely impressed with either on the one hand the most outrageous breach of diplomatic protocol in the history of Mundus and on the other an apparent refusal to learn the lessons of the recent past. He'd expected that his first job would be to sort out the new Imperial Council but no, now he had to handle something a little more tricky than that first and he wasn't entirely happy about that either. He'd spent the flight reading up on things, everything from refreshing his knowledge on the various aspects of Rokkenjima culture, law, government and other institutions to a certain Heyran statement and of course the hours old Imperial Address.

Emerson was accompanied on the flight by is adopted daughter Amy, which was probably expected, and, probably not that expected, an entourage of people. It was quite unusual for Emerson to travel with so many people unless of course he was going somewhere with a number of the musical artists signed to his label of Red Moon Music.

"More fun and games?" Amy asked sitting down opposite Emerson
"I'm going to have to take a leaf from Peter's book I think." Emerson said
"How so?" Amy asked
"Every day have a couple of hours set aside to handle the 'what has Beatrice done now?' stuff." Emerson said, he finished reading the document in front of him "Add hiring a communications director to the to do list."
"Ok." Amy said
"Ladies and gentlemen we're making our final approach to Pyrena airport, please fasten your seatbelts." the voice of the pilot came over the intercom.

A short time later they were on the ground, cars were being unloaded from the jet ready for the next leg of the trip, Emerson was now finishing a phone call as they watched, eventually he finished and hung up and looked at Amy.

"Take the entourage to the Palace, let's at least get things in hand before Beatrice announces the other major event that's coming." Emerson said "I'll catch up before too long but I'm going to swing by the Diet first and see the key players there."
"Firefighting?" Amy asked
"Yes." Emerson said "We need to hit the ground running."

International Organisations / CMA Debate - Barnacle/Nurashima
« on: August 06, 2018, 10:52:27 PM »
A resolution to Finalize a roadmap to a lasting solution to the long running dispute over the chain of islands known as either Barnacle or Nurashima and to support the Humanitarian Crisis occuring there and elsewhere.

The Agency must act because What initially began as a humanitarian response following a natural disaster tsunami, which saw action taken by several nations has since become far more complex than was originally envisaged with outside events concerning the overall sovereignty of the islands (the subject of a dispute between Himeyama and Heyra) being trumpeted by Rokkenjima the result of the Rokkenjiman statement saw a response from Heyra and has directly affected circumstances on the islands leading to a hostage situation involving Lodjan troops and has generally unecessarily and recklessly increased the danger to personnel engaged in humanitarian work. It is also noted that in the last few hours an increase in Heyra's military presence on the islands has been observed with no explanation for this as yet forthcoming.

in this instance the Holy Empire of Achkaerin proposes to the CMA the following course of action

1 - That the CMA support the rights and freedoms of the inhabitants of the disputed territory of Barnacle/Nurashima in determining their own destiny. This to be effected by a referendum of the people of the islands (should a majority desire it) no later than six months from the end of the present humanitarian effort (this to be determined by the nations involved in the effort) and must include the option of the islands becoming an independent state should the islanders not wish to be under Heyran or Himeyaman sovereignty.

2- The CMA affirms that the result of any such referendum must be regarded as safe and that the agency will therefore offer to provide neutral personnel to carry out the referendum process. (for the purposes of this article neutral shall be defined as not having taken a position in support of either Heyran or Himeyaman sovereignty over the islands or have a vested interest in the result going a particular way)

3- In the absence of any information to the contrary from the Himeyaman Government the CMA agrees to reject the Heyran classification of deserters and regard the Himeyaman marines remaining on the islands as members of the Armed Forces present and assisting with the humanitarian relief effort. Nations with personnel on site are encouraged to attempt to establish communication with senior Himeyaman officers to coordinate efforts.

4 - The CMA shall request of the Heyran Government an explanation for the noticible build up in its military presence on the islands chain, noting that the build up occurs in areas that the status quo of the islands regards as Himeyaman including Tansei Airbase.

5 - The CMA shall contact the Himeyaman Government and ascertain what humanitarian aid is required on the Himeyaman mainland and make all efforts to provide this in coordination with JET if possible.

Resolution open for debate.

Mundus Games 2018

It's that time of year again- our version of the Olympic Games is back for its fifth outing, I'm intending on this being mid to late August time as a start time so approx two to three weeks time. I have made some tweaks to the event list for this year. I'm also once again foregoing group stages in various competitions to simplify things. Bidding information is included in this post for anyone interested in hosting (again there is a slight tweak to this for this year).

Bidding information

The bidding process requires nations wishing to host to submit requested information, what information is dependent on the event in question. There will be a deadline set for bid submissions in the case of the Mundus Games this is the 12th of August any bids entered after that date will not be considered unless the vote has not opened. As you can probably guess from that sentence once bidding closes there will be a vote conducted. By vote this will be in the form of a post in this topic and the format of that vote will be explained at the time as it depends on the number of bids received.

So with that in mind the following is the criteria for Mundus Games Bids:
  • A list of venues for the events- you are expected to include the capacity of these venues and the athletics stadium must have a minimum capacity of 80,000
  • Name of the Main TV Rights Holder (For example EMTV)
  • Plans for the Athletes Village (just an image will do with a brief explanation)
  • Importantly a written letter signed by a ranking member of your government stating a) that they will provide safe venues and protective services for all athletes and staff no matter which nation they hail from. (No refusing entry to a nation or holding people prisoner because you don't get along in RP with their nation) and b) explaining the legacy of the games in your nation (what will the venues be used for afterwards, will there be a focus on the next generation of athletes? etc)

Everyone is advised that the last bullet point is quite important as it involves something akin to the Olympic Truce.

Also as the controller of the Mundus Games Committee (our IOC) I reserve the right to refuse a bid should there be a legitimate IC reason to do so, e.g we wouldn't be having this in a country in the middle of a civil war.

As usual competing nations will have the opportunity to choose disciplines to specialize in that is those headings in YELLOW, you are permitted three specialisms. You may also suggest the addition of an event if you wish but please remember these are the summer games (so no snowboarding). Also this is just the event list I have not yet worked out the schedule.

Finally as per the Winter Games I am not simply assuming everyone competes in everything but I am instead letting you determine which events you enter however please note that some events have a set number of people involved and some have a minimum number, these are generally team events and are indicated. Also please remember when determining your team size what the size of your nation is and how sporty they are.

Sporting Hub / Mundus Champions League 2018 IC
« on: July 14, 2018, 12:01:09 AM »

Welcome to the Mundus Champions League 2018. Many questions and challenges will present themselves to the thirty two competing teams along the road to Eventide where the final will take place. Will Northfort United, arguably the most consistent team in the competitions history (having been to two finals and lost them both 2-1) finally win it all? Can the return of Dartfordian teams surprise everyone? Will the stars of the Achkaerinese league show their class? And what about the newcomers, teams like AS Nemerie what can they do? It's sure to be a competition of surprises.

Group Standings

OOC:

1) In previous years the matchs have taken place once a week this will not be the case this year due to RL issues earlier in the year that caused an overrun of the Winter Games and seriously hit my activity level this interval will be decreased to 2-3 days between fixtures because of an upcoming sporting event that needs to happen in August.

2) As with previous years teams will play each other home and away in the group stages with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stages. The group draw has been constructed in such a way to ensure that teams from the same nation cannot play each other before the quarter final.

3) For news post purposes we do feature in the competition Goal line technology and this year are trialling VAR in this competition (used as per 2018 rl World Cup may see changes in a few months when we get to ours on Mundus)

Convention Centre / Edelweiss Festival 2018 OOC
« on: June 20, 2018, 01:21:35 AM »
Back for a second year (and hopefully more organised and refined than last year) is the Edelweiss Festival, I'm broadening it out a little to try and increase involvement and generate some creativity.

What is the Edelweiss Festival?

In simple terms the Edelweiss Festival is a partial rip off/fusion of the BBC Proms/Children in Need. It runs coinciding with the dates of the BBC Proms so the 13th of July to the 8th of September. ICly it's a major thing in the Achkaerinese calendar, organized by the Silvermist family that I opened up in part to people last year by inviting select nations to send orchestra's to play on certain nights of the festival. This year I'm opening it up a little more by introducing two new locations so the festival now has three main venues throughout the City of Valtheim below you'll find information on each of them and an explanation of what is going to be going on there during the festival.

The Royal Theatre

This is the main venue for the festival as this is where the orchestra's play, in more recent times international orchestra's have been invited to play here on certain nights. This invitational process will continue this year and the international orchestra's will be selected by the organising committee (OOCly I'll be asking people if they're happy for one from their nation to come). You may submit musicians to play at this venue and while obviously I would be prepared to consider something like the Three Tenors to perform at this venue this is a venue that is generally for instrumental music not vocal songs.

Memorial Park

this is the equivalent of Proms in the Park, essentially it's where other musical artists not playing in the main venue will play. Remember to be mindful of the potential audience and the cause of fundraising when sending in applications for this because I reserve the right to reject applications that are not in keeping with the ethos of the festival.

The Royal Valtheim University Theatre

This is where you get a chance to use your creativity, come up with an idea for a play or a musical or other oratory and provide a brief outline of it (think how Dave ran the Ozzie's this year) you may base it on something that exists but don't do a copy and paste of it. My advice would be to either Mundusify an existing idea somehow or to take an event from the RP history and base it around that.

Charities

As I've mentioned above the Edelweiss Festival is a charity fundraising event, with numerous charities benefitting, generally I keep a list of charities that are in play ICly and choose from that a selection of usually ten charities, the final tally of money is then split Icly between them in equal shares. The charity's will be revealed around two to three days in advance of opening night OOCly speaking.

Sign up forms

Note - the Pride question is for organisational purposes due to Pride potentially falling in July while the festival is on. If an act is playing Pride then the organising committee for Edelweiss will not schedule that act to appear during Pride and a couple of days either side so as to avoid a clash of schedules.

International Organisations / Global Childbirth Initiative
« on: June 15, 2018, 01:41:52 PM »

Who are we?

The Global Childbirth Initiative (GCI) is a non government organisation established by Queen Matilda of East Moreland in 2015. The organisation aims to reduce the number of women and children who die as a result of childbirth and the complications that it causes. The organisation has its global headquarters in Technology City, East Moreland and makes no conditions to nations contributing to or receiving aid from the project. The organisation is a registered charity and accepts donations from individuals, governments and businesses.

What we will do

The GCI has several programmes that are established to meet it's aim of reducing childbirth related deaths.

1. The building of centres of excellence to teach best practice to medical professionals from across the world. The aim will be to have one of these in each continent within five years.

2. To provide 20,000 fully funded University scholarships to students to study Midwifery. These scholarships will be for students from LEDC nations to study in a MEDC, they will carry the condition that the student will work back in their nation of origin for at least five years following graduation.

3. Help nations manufacture the life saving drug oxytocin or ensure that they are able to readily acquire the drug at cost.

4. Fund 1,000 Midwives and Nurses in secondments to LEDC's to help pass on best practice and train local professionals.

5. Provide nations with modern equipment to help create safer conditions for childbirth.

6. Start a global campaign to end the practice of Female Gential Mutilation. This will be include getting it recognised as a human right on the MCUR that girls not be exposed to the practice.

7. Create an education programme to warn of the dangers of FMG

8. Create an education programme for remote areas that will help local care providers better handle child births.

Diplomacy and Events / Putting A House In Order...
« on: June 12, 2018, 09:24:40 PM »
This was not the sort of meeting that the Emperor of Achkaerin was used to having but here in the gardens of the Marble Palace stood Peter as well as his Chief of Staff Kumiko Arkwright and National Security Advisor Mark Sharpe, what made this conversation unusual was that what was being finalized was being very carefully controlled, it came following several things that had forced the Achkaerinese leadership to consider what to do about the Chapterhouse school in the country, at first it had been a simple case of 'not enough verifable evidence' but then East Moreland's NIA had changed that and things had gotten a whole lot more stressed. Peter wasn't in the mood to close down a school but the child soldier issue was creating a sticky wicket that was only getting stickier, had it not been for other international events and had it not been for the circumstances this would have been a lot harder to deal with, but the time had now come.

"The simple fact is that sooner or later we're going to get called out for not acting on the information provided." Kumiko said "It was one thing when the only source was the Kaitaine Pravda... the propaganda argument would have stood but now with the NIA evidence which has been verified we're in a little trouble."
"The international response hasn't been that strong though." Peter said "Which I'm willing to bet is down to the fact that the nation in the equation is Kaitaine. In fact I'll bet there'd be a much more robust response internationally if it was Kaitaine being accused."
"What about the legal argument Serenity proposed?" Kumiko asked
"No way do we make that." Peter said "It may be by the letter correct but if we put that argument out there publicly we give every terrorist organisation on Mundus the mother of all loopholes. Mark please tell me you've got a recommendation."

"I have." Mark said "Shut down all flights between Achkaerin and Kaitaine, direct Gowu to do the same."
"And?" Peter asked, he knew Mark well enough to know there was more to this.
"Raid the school." Mark said "The accusation is grounds enough."
"We have no evidence of anyone from within that school having committed a crime." Peter said "If anything they're the victims or has everyone forgotten Franchesca Owens?"
"Right now that doesn't matter, we can paint this as two separate groups easily enough the same as Mountjoy has but we need to be seen to take steps remember we've got a covert not overt relationship with them." Mark said
"What are you suggesting?" Kumiko asked
"Search the school, go through the motions of questioning staff and students, arrest them if we have to." Mark said "Put someone in as the new Headmistress and institute a full review of the school's curriculum with overview and recommendations to be compiled in a report, said report to be made available domestically and internationally."
"Effect?" Peter asked
"We keep the relationship covert." Mark said "Plus we're able to keep the school open."
"What about the flights?" Peter asked
"We don't have a whole lot of flights to Kaitaine, it's actually a rather limited service." Kumiko said "Minimal issue. Plus if people were trying to get to Kaitaine from Achkaerin for the reason implied I don't think flying into Arakeen is how you'd do it, you'd fly to Mountjoy, Rodina, Iberia and the like and go from there."

Peter sighed and mused for a few moments
"How do you do it?" Peter asked
"We send them a message, we give them a 24 hour heads up, tell them we're coming and outline what we're thinking, they won't have time to respond before we raid. We have two Justicars run point with the police." Mark said
"And the new Headmistress you mentioned?" Peter asked
"I'll have a list of candidates drawn up." Mark said "Officially it's our choice, unofficially joint decision by them and us."
"Do it." Peter said

Three hours later a letter addressed to Ms. Franchesca Owens was put into a letterbox on Valtheim's high street, it would wind its way to the Chapterhouse, it was in motion now this heck of a gamble.

To: King Andrew of the Kingdom of Seaforth

Your Majesty may I first extend my congratulations on your becoming King of Seaforth, I'm sure that I am not the only person on the international scene to have registered both happiness and surprise in regards to the re-emergence of Seaforth. Our nations share a bond that goes back to the CIS and it is of great sadness to me that outside of that now dissolved organisation there exists no formal ties between our respective nations. This is something I would like to remedy at your earliest convenience and therefore I invite you or your representatives to join me at Crystalline Castle to discuss the re-establishment of ties between our nations and also any assistance we can provide to your nation as it continues to rebuild. Please be aware that should you accept my invitation your representatives should arrive in the city of Valkyria instead of the Capital of Valtheim due to position in respect of Crystalline.

I await your response

Formula Mundus 2018

The Formula Mundus season of 2018 begins with several questions - can Sam Halliday put all that media speculation and personal issues out of his mind and concentrate on defending his title? Will Megan Harrison regain her throne as champion? Or will a new name join those two? It's sure to be an interesting ride as pre season testing and then the season itself unfolds.

OOC - thanks to Jaws for the setting

It was a relatively nice day in northern Quintelia, the students from San Manuel High School were enjoying a days field trip out learning some archaeology, it was bit of a roadshow as there was a lot of advice and stuff going on as well. The person in charge was Melanie Bell, the young Countess of Elsion and young gun archaeologist not to mention the head of echo archaeology, why was she giving the field trip? Well her late father had been pretty good friends with the high schools English teacher a certain Marco Miranda so when he'd called her up and asked for some help she'd pretty much agreed without much thought. She'd just finished demonstrating some basic techniques and was taking a few minutes break to have a drink of water.
"Having fun?" someone asked, Melanie glanced over and saw Maki Hamer standing there.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Melanie asked "This is your part of the world after all."
"Nah I'm just along for the sunlight and because someone had to run your security." Maki said
"Mel." the voice of Nicolas Mackenzie, one of Melanie's employee's caught their attention "You need to see this."

Melanie and Maki made their way over to where Nicolas was crouched over an open hole, there was the upper portion of a skeleton there.
"We didn't bury that." Melanie said, part of the preparation the previous day had been burying several random things in the fields where they were that way the kids had something to find.
"No we didn't." Nicolas said "Are we thinking this is suspicious?"
"Call the police out and let's get the bones dated. Let's be sure we're dealing with either a murder victim or archaeology." Melanie said "Mr Miranda." she turned to where the teacher was standing "I think class just got cancelled."

A week later they were back, the results had come in dating to the second half of the ninteenth century so late 1800's. That made it without question an archaeology find and a dig. Melanie wasn't one to turn down that opportunity either, a little negotiation with the locals and they were set. Another of the group Lori Downing had the fields and surrounding area mapped using satellite imagery which she was then filtering to account for various things.
"Look at this." Lori said "There's a medium sized structure under the middle of that over there." she pointed "And plenty of other stuff, this is huge."
"We're going to need help." Melanie said "Nicolas see if you can find someone who knows the local area let's see if they can shed some light on what we might have found. Lori call the CETO we need help."
"Are you calling that Fava fellow?" Lori asked
"After last time? He had people pointing guns at me." Melanie said
"You got past that thought right?" Maki asked "How about you call him and if he turns up with an armed army I kick their ass?"
"Deal." Maki said "Nicolas you handle the locals."
"Got it." Nicolas said

Melanie took a few steps away and dialled a number she'd never imagined she would, but what the heck had she stumbled into this time?

To the Nations of Mundus,

A few months ago my late Husband, King Richard Silverwood of Vafleon and Head of the Commonwealth of Eswen passed away following a long battle with cancer, since then I have ruled as Regent until such time as my late Husband's eldest child could take the throne. That time has now come and so I hereby invite you to the coronation of my step son Crown Prince Manius Silverwood as King of Vafleon and his accession to the title of Head of the Commonwealth. I hope that the work he and his siblings have already begun in the ending of Eswen's long isolation will continue under my step son's rule and that you will support him and all the other leaders of the Commonwealth in this.

Signed

Queen Isabel Silverwood

Back by popular demand, this is essentially the region's version of the Eurovision Song Contest, obvious difference being that Mundovision is a global contest whereas in reality Eurovision is a continental based contest, or at least it's supposed to be glares at Australia. Basically this is the application topic for this years version which should be held in Dartfordia as they won the last edition of this that got a result - subject to CGJ being happy to host.

ICly there will be a broadcast show and a results show - due to the global nature of the event coupled with time zone differences (if it's mid evening in East Moreland it's going to be midnight if not later in Achkaerin...one day I'll do a time zone map). The winning country earns the right to host the competition next year.

Details as to the voting process will be made known at the time of the competition.

Rules

  • Any song submitted must be from the Eurovision Song Contest, ABU TV Song Festival, Caribbean Song Festival, Intervision Song Contest, OTI Festival or any other similar contest. (my advice is stick with Eurovision since it's over 60 years old there will be something there for you).
  • A 'similar contest' would mean a contest in which a group or person has to write their own song, or perform a unique song, for the contest (e.g. Competitions like X Factor or American Idol, where people sing existing songs, do not count)
  • You, as the RPer, get to decide how votes are distributed, so take into account what your 'people' would think – trust me, Eurovision voting is quite complex on the public side - full voting explanation to come at the time of competition.
  • If anyone has IC claim on an artist that has performed in RL at eurovision but not ICly and someone claims them for this please politely point it out to that person.
  • I reserve the right to hold semi finals if required.
  • Following the closing of applications I will randomly determine the performance order for the final (and semi finals if required)
  • I'm setting an initial application deadline of the 5th of June, which subject to numbers may be extended.

War and Conflict / LISA Military Exercise 2018

OOC - for LISA peeps only please, would normally vignette this but there's some stuff coming in that may make it worth RPing this.

Princess Astrid Base, Great Northern Ocean

It was a big day for the staff at Princess Astrid Base, the commanding officer of the base Major Ezri Skarsgård, was up early and going through making sure the final preparations were ready, the briefing room was set, the Achkaerinese vessels assigned for the exercise sat either in port or just off shore, the pride of the Achkaerinese military sat there, the interesting note was that there was no aircraft carrier assigned - due to them both being deployed across Mundus, one in the Kyne and the other around the Lakhzovia situation but that was why the top brass had selected this island and nearby water for the exercise because the island had of course a couple of runways for the fighter jets positioned there.

"How are we doing?" Ezri asked stepping into the command centre
"Achkaerinese ships and planes on station, we're picking everyone else up at long range and closing." the officer watching the radar said
"VIP's?" Ezri asked
"Due any minute." the officer said
"Ok let's start positioning the targets for the first drill." Ezri said "Point Foxtrot."
"Yes ma'am." another officer said

Ezri smiled, it was going to be a long few days but she was confident her officers were up to the task.

Formula Mundus is the worlds Premier Open Wheel Racing franchise.

Nations may enter one team of two drivers.

Entries will be limited to 15 teams.

There will be 21 races (I'll be using the Real life GP season tracks)

Weather will be determined by the RL weather at the GP.

These will be race weekends so will involve qualifying and race

New for this season: There will be three test days in advance of the first race (these will take place at circuits picked by myself once the calendar is known and will be announced).

SCORING

Two championships will take place, the drivers Championship and the Constructors Championship

Points will be awarded for positions finished in the race. The points will correspond to RL F1 scoring system 1st = 25 points 2nd = 18, 3rd = 15, 4th = 12, 5th = 10, 6th = 8, 7th = 6, 8th = 4, 9th = 2, 10th = 1.

The Constructors Championship will be determined by the combined score of all drivers of a team (including reserves if used).

Race Calendar

Nations that are still on the map, are active, and hosted races last year have retained them If anyone wants one of the races say so when you sign up it will be first come first serve. However do bear in mind that I will be taking IC considerations into account when determining the calendar (as in I wouldn't be giving Lakhzovia a race given the turmoil going on there at the moment). Also since Formula Mundus is directly comparable to F1 in RL the rules are the same this includes the following part of their sporting regulations:

Quote
2.3 Any special national regulations must be submitted to the FIA with the original application for inclusion of an Event on the international calendar. Only with the approval of the FIA can such special regulations come into force for an Event.

In Mundus terminology the Mundus Motorsport Association (MMA) is the FIA but the point remains the same.

OOC - following on from the LISA app of Balt

This wasn't the sort of thing that Tommy Walker had ever imagined would be in his job description, but then he'd never imagined holding such a senior diplomatic position either. The drive from East Moreland to Balitkum was relatively straightforward, for Tommy, his wife Sarah and daughter Kelly. The job seemed so simple didn't it? Talk to the Baltikum Government, essentially vet the country and get a feel for the country. None of the family had been to Baltikum before, so a lot of planning for the visit had been put it, interviews like this meant a slightly different tone was needed to the usual diplomacy - it wasn't just about common ground but about exploring the fault lines.
"So we're doing this as planned?" Sarah asked
"Yes." Tommy said "I talk to the President, you talk to the staff and Kelly can skateboard around getting a feel for the place."
"And then we compare notes over a coffee?" Sarah asked
"Yes." Tommy said "And remember I don't want any punchs pulled."
"No worries there." Kelly said
"And no wondering about how big your internet following may be out here young lady." Tommy said
"Ok Dad." Kelly said

They drove into the capital, the sat nav directing them on their way. Tommy sighed he had to remember whose florin he was on for the next few hours.

IT'S BACK!!!

This was due back in August/September but with the whole forum switch it didn't happen however one of the few advantages to that forum switch is the ability to right the Mundus Sporting Calendar so now at the fourth attempt we are finally having the Winter Games in winter. For those who don't know this is the Mundus equivalent of the Winter Olympics.

As per last year  you as the RPer are in the signup going to decide which events your nation enters and how many athletes they enter. Confused well let me try and explain, take an RL country that enters the RL Winter Olympics that's similar population wise to yours and use the number of athletes they send as a guideline- for example population wise Achkaerin is slightly larger than Great Britain so I'd blatantly rip of GB's total number of athletes for my nations team size that doesn't mean I have to match the events they entered though because my nations focus may be on other areas to that of the RL nation.

There's a coded sign up at the bottom of the post for people to do. I welcome people including athletes names alongside their respective events but that's not an absolute requirement as long as you say which events you're entering and how many athletes are entering that event.

As in previous years you may select up to three disciplines (those things in large font) for your nation to specialize in, this will increase your chances of getting medals in those disciplines but will not guarantee them (I suggest tailoring teams to the specialist disciplines you choose athlete wise)

Finally bidding information for prospective hosts is included after the list of events.

Bidding Information

The bidding process requires nations wishing to host to submit requested information, what information is dependent on the event in question. There will be a deadline set for bid submissions in this case the 20th September any bids entered after that date will not be considered unless the vote has not opened. As you can probably guess from that sentence once bidding closes there will be a vote conducted by vote this will not be in the form of a poll but in the form of a post in this topic (this is to ensure fairness of the vote)

So with that in mind the following is the criteria for the Winter Games bids
  • Information on venues- how much information you go into is up to you but a word of advice pictures are always welcome.
  • Name of the Main TV Rights Holder (For example Tytorian News Service or EMTV)
  • Information relating to the athletes village and accommodation for the media and fans.
  • Importantly a written letter signed by a ranking member of your government stating that they will provide safe venues and protective services for all athletes and staff no matter which nation they hail from. (No refusing entry to a nation or holding people prisoner because you don't get along in RP with their nation).
The last bullet point is particularly important and should be considered along the lines of the Olympic truce.

Also a point I always try to make, the host nation is responsible for starting the IC thread with an opening ceremony and also concluding the thread following the final results with a closing ceremony should they wish to do so. I'll still be putting up the results for each day etc.

And as a final incentive the host nation shall receive a small boost across the board in all disciplines they compete in due to the 'home advantage'

Truth, Justice and Duty

When something goes wrong, or wrong is done the truth must be sought and justice must be done, in the Achkaerinese military the search for truth and justice is the duty of the officers of the Judge Advocate General Corp, these are serving officers whose job it is to hold defendants to the standards set down not only by Achkaerinese law on the matter but where required international law such as the Fair Seas Concordat and the Uppsalla Convention. The team comprises many surprises from the Admiral, or JAG himself, who mentored the Emperor to the lawyers who come with their own issues and pressures right down to the newest recruit the Crown Princess in her naval career as she seeks to balance her duty to country with her family life. These are the stories of this group of elite lawyers as they seek to uncover the truth about various happenings.

Regional Assembly / A Point Regarding the Speaker
« on: January 22, 2018, 01:13:26 AM »
Members of the Regional Assembly

By convention when a regional office holder has not logged into the forum after seven days without a declared leave of absence it can be put that they have vacated their position. The current Speaker of the Assembly, Zee, last logged into the forum 24 days ago and has no declared leave of absence of which I am aware, he is therefore presumed to have vacated his seat as Speaker. As we have a critical Bill before the Assembly at this time I advise the Assembly to determine a new Speaker for the purposes of dealing with the matter at hand. I also remind Assembly Members that if they are unable to determine a new Speaker within a week then the Grand Chancellor does have the authority to appoint one. This is a power granted by convention.

Dear, Premier Executive Administrator Shiina Musashi

I do not believe our nations have ever formally met, something which is a shame there are after all many reasons for this. However my historians tell me it may be the case that someone of Himeyaman ancestry may have met someone of Achkaerinese ancestry back in the 1600's. I would therefore like to extend to you and whomever you choose a formal invitation for a state visit, I advise you wrap up warm as it's a little cold up here in the North. I do hope you will accept this invitation to establish strong relations between our two nations.
