PRINCESS FREYA LAUNCHES OSTLAKE GAMES COUNTDOWN
7 DAYS TO GO Princess Freya today started the official countdown to the Ostlake Military Games, one of the nations biggest sporting events and the largest competition of its kind on Mundus. The games feature a combination of sports such as rugby and football, while also including military competitions such as drill, rifle shooting and the Ostlake Challenge, a team event where each leg is added together to give a final time. One person will swim 10km in Ostlake, another will complete a 15km Combat run and the final member will cycle around the Lake, a distance of around 110km each person must then fire at 10 targets 50 meters away with the EMRAC-10 within one minute of them finishing their event. Over the last four years foreign teams have been invited and this year that tradition will continue with the 9 East Moreland teams being joined by forces from Neu Uburzis, Mountjoy and a yet to be confirmed nation. An invitation has also been extended to individuals from Seaforth and while he has not officially been part of the Seaforthian military rugby player Rollo MacAllister, currently doing his national service in the Royal Artillery, has asked to represent Seaforth in some events.
Princess Freya appeared on EMTV to discuss the games, likely to see over 1million people attend live events during the five days. She also spoke about several other issues while launching the promotions campaign #BeEpic
EMTV - What are your thoughts on this years Ostlake Games, who are the team to beat?
Freya - I love the games, its just as important a social occasion as it is competition. Its not often the Legions get together for any reason other than being in combat so to get to meet friends from other units, enjoy some friendly competition and have a laugh is a great thing. I'm excited that Seaforth are back and wish them all well. I know its a long shot as he has much on his plate with 7 days notice but it would be nice to see Joshua Rhodes back as we've both unsettled business from a few years back. As always the team to beat in the military events are Red Legion, they are an elite but then again always hamstrung by being the smallest pool to select from and being the most deployed. I think beyond that the Air Force are always a tough team to beat as they seem to have most time to prepare as always operating from home generally. The overseas teams are also a tough one as they have a huge selection pool.
EMTV - What do you think about Mountjoy and Neu Uburzis being the overseas teams so far and who do you think the third will be?
Freya - Mountjoy honoured my brother and our military with an award a few weeks back and so to return that respect is lovely. I know very few people from Mountjoy but will make a point of changing that over the next few days. Neu Uburzis extended great hospitality to our nation and again we now seek to repay that. I know they have a young Emperor who my brother spoke fondly of after his coronation and I would like to think he may at least get here for some of the events to cheer his men and women on. As for the third team there is obviously the CNN allies, but with only one place to spare inviting one and not the others may seem odd. I'd personally like the Alanders to come as they have worked alongside many of us in recent months but I'm sure that surprise will be kept for a special announcement.
EMTV - Will you be competing for Pegasus Legion again this year?
Freya - I've competed for many years, I've missed two games, last year I had broken my ankle during Red Legion selection and so had to sit watching from the sidelines and then I missed out when I was 21 because of....well discipline issues shall we say. This year I've tried out for the Combat Run and some of the shooting events but I'm yet to hear back. Pegasus Legion selection will be announced in two days and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. I know competition for places is tough but I think I'm as fit as when I tried out for the Red's so that means I have to be in with a chance.
EMTV - Will you have a 2nd go at joining Red Legion?
Freya - That decision is for the future. I'd love to say I had the requirements to be one of the greatest soldiers on Mundus, to be counted among the most elite operators but I only have one chance left and you can fail for so unlucky reasons. One twisted ankle and thats it, the timing has to be right to commit to the selection process again. That timing must be perfect for yourself but more importantly the military.
EMTV - Why Be Epic as a tag line for the Games?
Freya - This year the coverage will be bigger than ever, several nations are picking up TV coverage of some of the sporting events. We've also expanded the Games out, last time veterans suffering life changing injuries could compete in a handful of events. This year we're opening up even more events for what we're calling The Legionnaire Legacy Games (LLG). There you'll see real warriors, we've a guy in Pegasus Legion who technically died three times while being medivaced from Royal Seleucid during the Genocide, the fact he's alive makes him a legend in my eyes, to then know he's coming here to compete in power lifting amazes me. The man is epic and he inspires me and other to try and be just half as epic. Even my brother will be competing in the LLG with Pegasus Legion Rowing, while he tries not to admit it I know his lower back hurts him on a daily basis, yet he doesn't let it stop him being an excellent father to a very active Rhiannon, nor does it stop him doing his duty, that too is Epic.
EMTV - It was announced this morning that Rokkenjima have cancelled the Tri-Partite Treaty. What are your thoughts?
Freya - I leave matters of State to my brother. I'm sure he'll be concerned, Rokkenjima and ourselves have done many things together and I know that despite what Empress Beatrice has said in her statement Morelanders were still co-operating on a range of activities with Rokkenjimans. Some of these matters of great importance for Mundus, sadly this rug being pulled out from under our feet means they have to stop and essentially for the Empress determining issues surrounding her are issues that East Moreland can't work around. That frankly is ridiculous as our issues with her have been going on for many months yet it hasn't stopped close and trusting partnerships to continue. Those must now be sacrificed because of ego. I would not rule out meeting with Rokkenjiman representatives myself if they have some issue with my brother but rather than seek alternative avenues they went instead straight to the media. We shall continue to now work with those nations that value co-operation to ensure the future prosperity, peace and security of anyone willing to work with us.
EMTV - What do you have to say about the rumours of your brother and his romance with Lady Stasya Pelagiya?
Freya - My brother is a single man, he's wealthy, handsome, powerful and well dressed, all things that attract ladies, and if Gossip Daily is to be believed Vaguzian Kings. The media will always be interested in who he is dating, I experienced the same interest before marrying Alex and I suppose its natural people like to speculate. I can categorially say Erin Osman knows nothing about our family and wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw the whole Osman family. I've meet Lady Stasya, she's a nice lady and if she was dating my brother I think they'd make a nice couple, but at the moment my brother's main concern is Rhiannon's end of year school tests and her fencing Junior Bronze badge.
EMTV - Are you and your husband considering children?Freya - At the moment we're trying to adopt Evie, the six year old who Alex rescued from the Mhorish. She is as far as I am concerned my daughter and I love spending time with her. We just now need to convince the courts to sadly declare her biological parents, whom no one has seen for two years, as legally dead and then we can adopt her. I'd be so happy to call her daughter and I am so proud of her. Evie and Rhiannon are great friends and already act more like sisters, but to think they'd officially be cousins would make my day. Having biological children can wait until we've solved this and my military career is settled.
