International Organisations / Re: International Humanitarian Corps
« Last post by Achkaerin on September 08, 2024, 05:16:20 PM »

On behalf of her Majesty Empress Serenity, and following an affirmative vote of the Achkaerinese Senate, I submit the application of the Holy Empire of Achkaerin to join the International Humanitarian Corps. Our intention, if successful in joining, is to assign initial assets from the 5th Naval Group led by the INS Discovery and including the INS Apothecary as well as other vessels and aircraft that have seen action in humanitarian efforts across Mundus in recent years. Colonel Steven Ayanami will be appointed as our representative to the organisation, all told we estimate a contribution of around four to five thousand personnel.

Having received, due to our JET membership, information suggesting the deployment of IHC assets to Kritamala I also inform the organisation that we are prepared to accommodate IHC personnel, assets, supplies and patients on our soil for the duration of operations should it be deemed helpful to do so. This offer is made regardless of the outcome of Achkaerin's membership application.

Signed

Hannelina Porter
Foreign Aid Minister.

With the demise of Bachchan the Kingdom of Renaku had a little bit of an issue. Bachchan had been someone they'd had an uneasy relationship with. He kept to his side of the border and largely ignored the Kingdom. There was however some circumstances where there was no way the tribesman of the hills in the east of Renaku would really respect the borders, such as a lost horse, while hunting etc. As a result there had been the odd border clash between errant tribesman and the Kritamalan border forces. Now though there was an unknown, this KASA, would they be simply a continuation of the government of old, a threat or a friendly neighbour. King Temur wasn't about to take any chances on that and so he had ordered the military to mobilise. He had sent word through what channels he could that one of his Generals would be based at Karacaören, the Renaku barracks closest to their neighbours, incase KASA wished to speak.

It would take the Lodjain ships that would be keeping an eye on the ports the best part of 10 days to reach Kritamala from their homewaters. First though it would be the job of the Queen's Airborne Assault Regiment (QAAR) to move overland and see about securing the ports. It had taken a few days for the unit and its equipment, a host of IFV's and mobility vehicles to arrive. Once everything had been checked and double checked the unit, lead by Lt-Col Lavr Konstantinov, waited the local forces. They were hoping for a straight run to the port, some town called Thakurdiya, where it was hoped they'd link up with the naval assets that would bring even more supplies into Kritamala.

The motto of XV Squadron was perhaps apt for this situation "Standing By". Their C-6 Swallows were used to ferrying military equipment between various East Moreland commitments when they'd been members of the CIS, then the CNN and even out to training areas in Nya Aland. Today the aircraft were being prepared for taking the equipment of 30 Red Legionnaires and around 8,000 members of Duke Legion out to Kritamala. For the next few days the 12 aircraft that made up the squadron would shuttle back and forth alongside a trio of converted airliners that would take the brunt of the soldiers. A kind of departure lounge had been set up in one of the hangars where men awaited their flights while playing cards, watching the Mundus Games or simply snoozing. As the last of the pallets of supplies was loaded onto the first of the Swallows Red Legionnaire officer Seb Johnson lead his patrol onto the aircraft where they began stringing up their hammocks between the pallets loaded with supplies. Seb had spent a lot of time seconded to the National Intelligence Agency and was now happy to be back among the elite unit he considered home. Up in the cockpit the pilot did his final checks and began trundling down the runway. It would be about a ten hour flight and six hours after this aircraft took to the skies a second would follow. This would pretty much be the routine for the next few days. Onboard the Reds and the handful of Royal Engineers tried to sleep while Seb at one point did his best to commit their route to the cricket ground to memory while tucking into the chocolate sponge pudding with custard from one of the ration packs they had.

Ten hours later they touched down and Seb left the aircraft with his bergen on his shoulder followed by the foru LEgionnaires in his patrol looking for the local guys who would be working with them. Even before he'd found them the Engineers were busy moving pallets of supplies out of the rear of the aircraft.

There was a lot to consider and the three nations offering help would all be welcome. Tammana though knew she would need to give some outline of what needed to happen. She did not want to give the people of her homeland the impression that she was simply handing the nation over to a foreign power that would replace Bachchan. "I feel then that this is what we should do. First I would like to assign some of my more experienced KASA members to the East Moreland forces that will head to the capital. We have a cricket ground there that was once the venue of our international teams matches. I think it would make a good base when you arrive. It has large car parks and lots of space inside so should provide a good HQ, from there I would like you to accompany our people as they head through the city making surveys of the situation. Perhaps we can then head to the University of Technology in the city which should be a more habital HQ if we need to be there long term. In a similar vain I'd like to do something similar with Lodja. Our largest port in terms of volume is Thakurdiya, it is though a little aged now, if I can put it politely. Its more of a massive fishing port than a real cargo one nowadays. If we can spruce it up a little it should be able to handle deliveries like the ones you have described. Again with the Lodjain forces I'd like to add KASA forces to their efforts. With the Cenneg, you're asking to commit your soldiers, I wonder if I could ask them to turn to a particular task. We've concerns over whether military establishments are truly going to stand down and join our efforts. In the coming days we need to send KASA there to take stock of the situation and an inventory of where the troops are, as we know many have simply gone AWOL and may have taken equipment with them. I'd like it if we could convince you to help support these visits."

"In terms of vaccinations these should follow as we go. I have some medical people who can help with that and I know they'd welcome any support that you can give. We also desperately require the doses. That though can't come until we get things secure." She now had to turn to a difficult thing. So far she'd been delighted at the offers of help and the suggestions put forward.

"I am though going to have to turn down any involvement of Altona, or any nuclear power stations as such. My fear is that we can't take a security risk of such even if your forces are present. I'm worried of elements of the regular military taking advantge of this situation and the last thing I want is a rebel faction with access to a nuclear reactor. However if all other matters are fulfilled when can we begin?"

If they were talking wider aid affairs then it would be  Luke Shinnan, the Junior Minister who would speak for the Cenneg. "We've the ability to start large scale manufacture of vaccines. When the three of us were members of the CNN it was the yellow tongue virus that impacted livestock that saw us all able to produce quantities of that in record time, as such we'd be capable of switching the processes and helping with others such as say the polio vaccination. I do though wonder do you also need vaccinations for livestock? Whats the state of that kind of care here?"

Meanwhile it would be Captain Malley who would discuss military matters. "While it seems our Morelander and Lodjain buddies have tasks they've agreed to undertake that leaves my men and women twiddling their thumbs. The Cenneg military has around 10,000 troops we can commit to this in a matter of days, some even within 24 hours.
