Background | Built mainly with the civilian market in mind, in particular the coast guard and ambulance service the idea being to ensure the capability for a fast response time to an emergency. However the Air Force expressed interest in using the Dragonfly Mk II following the original Dragonfly's failure to fulfill its intended role. Used primarily as a very effective ASW aircraft the Dragonfly Mk II is also a reasonable improvised attack vessel, owing to its speed being faster than most naval vessels out there (when cruising it averages between 50 and 60 knots) it fits into a countermeasure role against fast, small combatants such as missile boats. |
