"I understand," Forrester would add, "as such I'll increase my survivability. I can maintain command of the IRN from IRN Enterprise and, if Rowe wishes to see me dead he's an entire air wing and various assets at my disposal aligned against him, and he has to pinpoint where I will be. As I designed the underseas doctrine of the IRN, I know their game better than their captains do, I'll outrun the bastard but," she said as she looked to Rion, "can you promise me you'll get the series of bastards so I can hang them on my wall? I like my war trophies, after all."

"It really doesn't do any of that." Rion said she'd been standing in the room with Kado "Remember they've taken our pieces off the board as well as us taking theirs off the board, you take Rowe now when there's no hard evidence against him and it looks very much like he's our piece not theirs, and that's without the legal situation."
"Correct." Liosa said, she was sat next to Emerson and looked at Asuna "It becomes a lot harder to court martial Rowe successfully, which we're going to need to do to put an end to this affair."
"And now you're wondering why we're saying wait." Rion said "To use the chess metaphor, Groves was the sacrificial pawn, Kikyo Hase is the pawn waiting to be promoted, Lucius Stanley was the Rook, Sumire Abruscato the bishop and Seagull the knight. Rowe is the Queen, he's not the King and that's the point. The King is the one we want, the one we need to get. This whole conspiracy is a revenge trip against the Imperial Family and it's a good forty years plus in the making, this doesn't end until we get our shot at the mastermind behind it, we want this threat eliminated not kicked down the road. We know their endgame the Youth Diet is days away, but before then something is going to happen and it's going to happen in Kusan. We want Rowe off the board as much as everyone else but we want to do it when doing so doesn't allow the threat to simply return later down the road. Rowe's job has been to prepare the stage so to speak for that threats return that he's done and now he's got to pull the trigger on actually setting it in motion. He will bring the person behind this onto the board, he will bring them within our reach and then my people will end this in an appropriate manner. Rowe must be taken alive because someone must be held accountable for everything and that is ultimately him. Waiting has risk and under any other circumstances I'd be agreeing with the Rear Admiral but in this instance not waiting is far riskier. We wait and we get the chance to end this."

Serenity had been on Seaforthian soil all of five minutes, when the phone had rung and she found herself on an impromptu conference call with her brother Simon, her cousin Sakura and the rest of the Round Table Conference, which was the emergency committee that consisted of the Achkaerinese leadership across military, intelligence, politics and so on.
"What's happened now?" Serenity asked
"Well apart from RBC apparently not doing their due diligence, the ASDN plan is reportedly getting traction." Simon said "At least that's what Cheryl tells us."
"Is that both parts of the plan?" Serenity asked
"Yes." came Cheryl's voice
"Well if they're prepared to go that far then we'd better put wheels in motion." Serenity said "Which carrier is in Gowu right now?"
"The Intrepid." Simon said
"Deploy it and its group." Serenity said "Hang them outside Marseilles waters and then come the cut off they move in."
"Will do." Simon said
"Sakura." Serenity said "Regardless of what Andrew says this referendum needs to happen, remember the position is that Troyes is Marseilles territory, the Marseilles government doesn't need Seaforth's permission to hold it."
"I'm on it." Sakura said
"I'm just waiting for Evanthe to turn up and then we're going to see Andrew." Serenity said

Sophia Forrester, Rear Admiral, Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy

"I could not hide my presence here so, this is an event which will inevitably raise alarm bells in Imperial High Command," Sophia said as she bowed to the Empress. "For that I apologize but, if I am to continue to be your bullwark, I needed Cole at Imperial High Command yesterday to maintain things as they stand today. Asuna, my influence goes only so far, reigning in Rowe is an option that will soon be depleted as he picks up on where my loyalties truly lay. I promise you that I'll maintain my position for so long as I can, but, eventually, it will be me facing down an SIS squad, and I imagine they'll be sent to kill me when that moment comes. I don't care if what you have now is enough to pin anything on the bastard, I am telling you though that waiting has a cost, and while it's one I am willing to pay, I'd rather not, understandably. Do we have an understanding?" she said with urgency.

"Emerson," Asuna said as she stood, "if Forrester falls we fall," she paused for effect, "I don't care what procedural measures stand before us, we'll cut through them if we have to but Rowe's time at IHC must be brought to an end. Henry Cole has said he'll retake his former duties if I should deem it necessary well, I'm deeming it necessary today. That whole report in the RBC about the Cecelia Anselmo is the last straw and, while I can't prove it, I can't help but to think Rowe wouldn't see using the Kōketsu to his advantage as a chip he'd decline playing at this point. Rowe's done," she said as she sat, "help me to do this officially, please, I know a few who would see it done unofficially, so to say, and they'd be all the more happy to see it done. Plus," she paused, "Cole retaking the reigns of IHC insulates him; there's few who'd dare take a shot at him given his reputation amongst the rank and file. Sure we risk Rowe acting recklessly moving forward but, I'd propose, he's already acting as such. If Sophia needs Cole, let's see that it happens."

Nation Celebrates Armed Forces Day

Harunori Kōno
04/17/2024

Fusan showcased an arsenal of advanced weaponry in a military parade on Wednesday, rolling tanks and missiles down the streets of its capital as aircraft streaked overhead. The parade, held to mark the 106th anniversary of the end of the Ardian Continental War (1914 - 1918), comes amidst the backdrop of both recent conflicts in the Rokkenjiman Sea and Kalasin as well as the ongoing crisis in Troyes, where insurgents recently claimed control over the city and declared the "Republic of Troyes." The day's festivities commenced early in the morning with performances and ceremonies at Joint Base Koshu, just outside of Shinkyo, where Prime Minister Sadazane Konishi delivered an address urging vigilance in the modern world and calling for the neutralization of the PAFK's leadership.

"As we stand here, on this most hallowed of days for our Armed Forces, we are reminded that our enemy, Thaksin Prateung—a war criminal who has aided in perpetrating the wholesale slaughter of his nation—remains in hiding. Today, as we celebrate the storied history of our armed forces, I come before you, the nation as a whole, with this, my solemn vow: We shall not yield, we shall not rest, we shall not tire until that day comes, and let me assure you it is coming soon, that he and all his ilk are made to face justice for their crimes, whether in this life or the next." The Prime Minister said in his speech.

The military parade—the centerpiece of the day's festivities—followed around 10:00 AM, with troops and equipment passing through the heart of Shinkyo, passing by both the Imperial Palace and the Imperial Diet Building. The roads were lined with spectators, many of whom were waving small flags or shouting patriotic slogans. Several thousand Fusanese troops marched during the event according to a spokesman for the Ministry of War. Other performances included a military band and flag-bearers from each unit which participated. On display was a variety of homegrown equipment, including drones, tanks and armored personnel carriers, further highlighting the large  arms industry of the nation. Soldiers in the vehicles waved to the crowd as they passed by; several vehicles had the Fusanese flag affixed to them. Of course, as has been the case since the first parade held on the 17th, a number of dignitaries and other important persons were in attendance, including both Prime Minister Konishi and Emperor Eijirō as well as members of the legislature, Imperial Family, and military. Also present was Sergeant Eisuke Nakao, a medic in the Army risked his life to protect several wounded soldiers in his care near Samut Prakan, Kalasin, and was awarded the Order of the Golden Kite earlier this morning as a result.

At around 4:00 PM, the festivities moved to Yura Bay, just southeast of Shinkyo and adjacent to the larger Shinkyo Bay, where the annual fleet review was performed, with the Emperor serving as Chief Inspector, leading the battle line from the bridge of the IFN Jun'yō alongside Rear Admiral Jiro Nakajima, the commanding officer of Carrier Strike Group 4. More than thirty vessels participated, including the Onna, Katsurō Satō, and Akita, as well as the newly delivered IFN Barakuda, which is set to begin its sea trials starting tomorrow alongside CSG-4. Also present during the review were flyovers by aircraft belonging to Carrier Air Wing Four, which is currently attached to the Jun'yō. Durring a press briefing following the review, the Emperor was questioned about a possible response to the ongoing crisis in Troyes, where he alluded to the possibility of deploying forces to the region in support of the nation's ADSN allies, however, he stressed that diplomatic measures had to be pursued with great vigor before then.

Elder Senate takes Position in Troyes Conflict

Neu Uburzis Stadt, 12.4.2024

The Elder Senate has decided to release a statement on their current position in the conflict surrounding the City of Troyes. According to the Elder Senate, while Marseille does have a claim on the city, this claim should be staked and discussed through the regular diplomatic channels and not open the possibility by force. The Elder Senate also states that the so called republic does not exist, and urges the armed assailants and gunboats to stand down and allow an orderly conduct.

They also wish to clarify that while Marseille has a claim on the city, it would only be to be expected that Marseille would have to make concessions to Seaforth for years of building infrastructure, security and amenities. The Senate states that anything less would be straight up theft at gunpoint.

"We will thus wait and see what happens."

"In the mean time I reflect to recent Rokkenjiman reporting and can state that the Empress made no such statements as reported by the RBC. This has been corrected by the Editor, and at this time evidence points toward Kōketsu facilitating the false reporting under the guidance of Alastor Johan, who titles himself "First Lord". INIS suspects that the credentials used in the transmitting of the reporting to the RBC were likely spoofed and, as such, no compromise of Rokkenjiman systems has taken place and, while it resulted in a noisy and troublesome affair, the position of the First Empire remains as affirmed by the Empress and her diplomatic representatives."

A Note From The Editor

Following consultation with the Imperial Palace the RBC cannot verify the authenticity of the statements alleged to be made by the Empress in prior reporting. While information was transmitted to the RBC holding credentials it does not bear any verification from the Imperial Palace, which has stated it will be investigating the origins of the the message. It is expected that the Empress will make a statement on the matter in the coming hours, with the Imperial Palace presently stating that "the tone of the message relayed by the RBC is clearly out of step with how the Empress conducts herself. We appreciate the cooperation of the RBC on this matter as we move forward with our investigation."

We can verify that Cecelia Anselmo remains in port, with officials speaking off the record pointing fingers toward Kōketsu, an organisation recognized as a terrorist enterprise which last saw prominence in some manner of involvement of a Rokkenjiman ocean liner eight years ago.

Isabella narrowed her eyes and chose to overlook what in her opinion amounted to the silliness of the exercise. Considering that the policy of every nation in the room was that Troyes was Marseilles soil and that as far as she knew such policy had been in place for years in those nations.

"I believe once Mr Ferraro states his approval then the action plan will have been agreed by everyone and can then be published." Isabella said "The path of diplomacy is what is now pursued outside of these walls. Here our focus now falls to coordinating the response that is potentially going to be needed if Seaforth refuses and there's a fair chance of that."
