Etymology And History
The Kingdom of Seaforth is named after Seaforth Castle, located in the capital city of Eventide in the province of Seaforth. The people of Seaforth are descendants of the people known as the Scoti and refer to themselves a Seaforthians. The Scoti themselves were a sept of Celts originating from Ui Ceinnselaig. These seafaring Celts raided and traded their way north eventually landing in what is now called Seaforth. These Celts continued to raid and pushed east from the shores, driving out the native tribes and permanently settling the area. Little remains of the original tribes, not even their names. The Celts were made up of clans and eventually organized into 6 Kingdoms. The Kingdom of Eventide, The Kingdom of Scotia, The Kingdom of Northumbria, The Kingdom of Caledon, The Kingdom of Arc-Royal and the Kingdom of Strathcona. In the early to mid 1100's, The Knights Hospitaller arrived in the Illumic. Refugee's fleeing their destruction at the end of the Vanoran Crusades. These Knights, led by Jocelyn of Rhodes, settled on the wild and uninhabited Island of Somerset. Just across from Somerset was Halifax Bay and the city of Halifax. From there ruled Ulric, King of Caledon. The King and his son, Prince Owen eventually befriended the knights and together, through war, diplomacy and marriage they united the six Kingdoms into the Kingdom of Seaforth. The former Six Kingdoms are still existing today represented by provinces of Seaforth.

Geography
The coastal mountains dominate the western edge of the kingdom. A solid wall of rock towering above the sea, only 2 natural breaks occur in the mountain chain. The northern break is located in the Bay of Eventide, where the capital city of Eventide is located. The southern break is located in a natural harbor in the province of Caledonia and where the provincial capital of Halifax sits. The area accounts for 25% of the kingdoms landmass.

Spoiler: Coastal Mountains • show

East of the Coast Mountains are the foothills. Also known as the Ranchlands, these rolling hills stretch out from the Coast Mountains and are home to most of the livestock in the kingdom. These are also the original tribal lands of the Scoti people and account for 50% of the landmass in the kingdom.

Spoiler: Ranchlands • show

At the far eastern end of the kingdom are the plains and farmlands which provide much of the agricultural produce in the kingdom and account for the remaining 25% of the landmass.

Spoiler: Praries • show

The Kingdom of Seaforth contains 8.2 % water which is made up of mountain rivers running to the sea and the foothills where it empties into a series of small lakes. Few rivers flow into the plains and the farmland is maintained by a series of irrigation canals.

PICTURE COMING

The Island of Somerset is the traditional holdings of the Rhodes family, stretching back to the time of Jocelyn of Rhodes. The Seaforth section on the island contains the City of Bethesda and a joint service naval base. The eastern area of the island is leased long-term to Rokkenjima and consists of Urakawa City (Civilian) and Elpidiana a city for military personnel and dependents while the Office for Illumic and Tripartite Affairs sits semi between them. Somerset is an autonomous zone under the sole control and possession of House Rhodes. Somerset remains a part of the Kingdom of Seaforth.

The Rokkenjiman portion would then simply be known as the Rishiri Imperial Overseas Dependency.

OverviewThe Saewoo H-34 is distinctive coaxial rotor attack helicopter currently operated by several squadrons of the FDDF's Air Arm. The aircraft includes an integral 30mm RKA cannon mounted on the starboard side of the fuselage, with limited direction away from the aircraft's directional axis, but a higher degree of accuracy than would be possible with a chin-mounting. Additional armament may be fitted on a mission a specific basis, with eight hard points on the two stub wings capable of mounting up to 2,000Kg of missiles, gun or rocket pods or auxiliary fuel tanks in any combination.

The aircraft is designed to maximise survivability, lacking the vulnerable tail rotor of more conventional airframes and mounting heavy 12mm plating around the cockpit and engine compartment, protecting the crew and vital systems from ground fire to a high extent. Redundant control systems, a package of passive and active countermeasures and a set of collapsable landing gear round of the aircraft's protective systems, all geared towards keeping the crew alive and the aircraft operational.

Several H-34 aircraft saw limited service against SCC forces during the Eugenics War, flying out of CIS FOB Transvaal and scoring several confirmed kills against armour and entrenched positions during the Battle of St Catherines and other engagements in the south of the country. The FDDF crews are reported to like the aircraft, owing to its high survivability and mechanical robustness.

While these laws and regulations keep Seaforthian Banks out of the high-risk/high-reward aspects of the world banking market, their conservative mindset lends itself to strong and steady gains every quarter.

Offshore drilling is prevalent in the Great Northern Sea and is the driving force behind the kingdoms finished petroleum products market. Federal law prohibits drilling in the Illumic channel due to environmental and international concerns.

As a coastal nation, the bounty of the sea has long been a domestic industry. Fish, crab and lobster is abundant in the cold waters. Seaforthian King Crab is known the world over and is loved as much as the former practice of whaling is hated.

The major livestock in the kingdom is sheep and Seaforth produces a vast amount of wool, mutton and lamb.

The Eastern plains contain the only arable land in the kingdom. Utilizing advanced irrigation methods the kingdom is able to produce Rye, Canola and Wheat is sufficient amounts to create a net export.

As the birthplace of Scotch Whiskey, the finest Scotch is produced here. Bar none. Don’t even try to compare your bathtub swill to the finest distilled spirits in the world.

Recent advances in Geothermal technology, hydrogen electrolysis and Lithium Extraction continue to keep Seaforth at the pinnacle of the world energy markets.

Imports:
Due to its location and climate many desirable good cannot be produced domestically and Seaforth maintains a large balance of trade. Key import for the nation include:
Iron ore and other raw metals.

Special Technology

Rhodesia
As a part of the Kingdom of Seaforth's cutting edge and Mundus leading maritime technology, the City of Rhodesia represents the possible in terms of Seaforthian scientific achievement. Rhodesia sits on the floor of the Illumic Channel several miles off the coast of Seaforth in close proximity to and undersea vent. Using Seaforth's advanced hull technology, Rhodesia is the world's largest (and only) permanent undersea habitation. Holding approximately 10,000 people at maximum capacity, Rhodesia serves promarily as a scientific research station with teams working to improve current hull technology, as well as other interests.

Rhodesia is also a working electrolysis plant, using electricity to separate water molecues into thier component parts, namely pure oxygen and hydrogen. The oxygen is used internally as well as shipped out while the hydrogen is used as fuel in a number of industries. Rhodesia is also a contributer to a number of foreign space programs specializing in designing and testing, landers, habitation and working modules as well as providing hydrogen fuel. Indeed, Rhodesia is a perfect test bed for space technology.

Rhodesia is connected to mainland Seaforth by a "Chunnel" with trains provided by contract from Dartfordia.

PEERAGE OF SEAFORTH

The Peerage of Seaforth consists of several levels. At the top is the Sovereign, the King or Queen of Seaforth. Below the Sovereign are the seven Dukes or Duchesses of Seaforth. These are the Sovereigns chief advisors and are also responsible for their Duchy's. Next on the list are the Margraves or the March Lords. These were traditionally some of the most trusted royal and non royal nobles, responsible for the defense of Seaforth's borders. After the Margraves come the Viscounts. This rank amalgamates the count/viscountiesand earldoms into a single rank comparable to foreign counts or earls. The for of address can be Count, Viscount or Countess. Traditionally Counts were responsible for a few major towns or counties in the interior of the kingdom. Indeed, the major difference between a Margrave and a Count is whether or not their fief held external or internal borders. The last noble rank is that of Baron. These were often conferred on the younger sons and daughters of nobles or as a reward to a commoner for exceptional services. Barons were tasked with seeing to a single town and castle and were in charge of their landed knights. Barons were also tasked with maintaining a certain strength in the citizen armies and reported to their count in a time of war.

HISTORICAL FIGURES

Spoiler: Jocelyn of Rhodes, 1106-1142 • show

Name:Jocelyn of Rhodes
TitlesFortress Master of Rhodes, Grandmaster of the Knights Hospitaller
Date of Birth: October, 1106
Date of Death: November, 1142

Brief Biography: The first mentions of Jocelyn are found in writings from the 1130's accounts from a dark chapter of the crusades, who she was before that has largely remained a mystery. Jocelyn stood out during the fall of the Crusader Kingdoms. She was largely responsible for saving the lives of many Jewish people in the face of overwhelming odds.

Her finest hour came during the Siege of Rhodes. In 1135, during the blood libel (the slaughter of Jewish families by several knightly orders including the Templars), Jocelyn led the evacuation of people from Jerusalem to Rhodes where alongside the Knights of St James the Knights Hospitalier found themselves besieged by a Crusader army. Jocelyn took command of the defence of the island  and withstood a 14 month siege. The courage and ferocity of the defenders eventually led to the Templar commander offering terms. Rhodes was surrendered in 1137 and the defenders were allowed sail off the island.

The Hospitaller Fleet, instead of returning to their native lands, sailed west for several months. During a particularly nasty storm they were run aground on the coast of what would become Seaforth in 1138. The land was fractured and dominated by family clans. The clan that held the lands that the Hospitallers landed on attempted to destroy them but were in turn destroyed by the Knights. Claiming the land for their own this was the foundation of the city of Bethesda and construction of Rhodes Castle began. The order also sought to the spread of christianity to the clans and the construction of hospitals and orphanages to the populace. During this time, the Hospitallers would forge a relationship with one particular clan who's head was called Ulric.

In 1140, when the clans were threatened by outside invaders. The decimated the far interior clans and threatened to push all the way to the sea. Allying themselves, Ulric and Jocelyn campaigned to unify the clans. Some through diplomacy and treaties, some were destroyed and absorbed into larger clans. In 1142 Jocelyn and Ulric arrived in present day Arc-Royal at the head of a mostly unified clan army. In a series of offensives, the clans pushed out the invaders. The last battle was fought near a large standing stone, now named the Colossus of Rhodes. The enemy was shattered.

At the end of the battle, there was much talk about what would become of the unified clans. In an impassioned speech, Jocelyn mortally wounded in the battle proclaimed Ulric King and split the Hospitaller order to separate church and state. The Knights Hospitaller would serve as the backbone of the Kings Army with no clan allegiance while the rest of the order would continue the religious, charitable and hospital duties of the order.

SOMERSET

A Great Radiance Is Born

GOVERNOR: Brigadier General Uilleam Prescott, Baron Idylwylde

Presonal Badge Of Joshua Rhodes

The Island of Somerset is the traditional holdings of the Rhodes family, stretching back to the time of Jocelyn of Rhodes. The Seaforth section on the island contains the City of Bethesda, a joint service naval base and the Rhodes Estate. The eastern area of the island is a Rokkenjiman Independent Overseas Territory similar to Gibraltar and consists of Urakawa City (Civilian) and Elpidiana a city for military personnel and dependents while the Office for Illumic and Tripartite Affairs sits semi between them. Somerset is an autonomous zone under the sole control and possession of House Rhodes. Somerset remains a part of the Kingdom of Seaforth. The civilian leader of Somerset is Evanthe Rhodes and the Military Commander is General Joshua Rhodes. Somerset acts as an autonomous zone and though technically still a part of Seaforth, is independent in all aspects, for example, all citizens living on Somerset pay taxes to the Government of Somerset.

The Trojan March

The largest port city of the former Grand Duchy Of Marseille, Troy (Troyes) is a thriving port city under the administration and protection of the Kingdom of Seaforth. With a population of 3.1 million, Troyes intersects the world of Albion and Ardia and has a distinct and blended culture though remaining heavily Marseille influenced. During The Fall of Seaforth, Troyes was home to over 1 million Seaforthian refugees as well as the city of choice for the exiled nobility of Marseille. To protect Troy, The Kingdom of Seaforth maintains a joint services base on the edge of the city, SFB Victoria.

With the return of the former Grand Duchess, Alys Arsenault. The Kingdom Of Seaforth incorporated the city of Troy into the Kingdom as a protectorate. Lt. General Victor Frost was elevated to the nobility and appointed Margrave of Troy and the military governor of the Trojan March. The city of Troy continues to act as a bridge between the Republic of Marseille and the rest of the world, with the Kingdom of Seaforth ensuring it's safety and openness. The former MDF base of Casablanca was renamed to SFB Victoria in honour of the allied victory in the Wrath of Materna crisis, the flags of those allies flying over the base to this day.
