[big]BACKGROUND[/big]

In the early 2nd Century Celtic traders from Ui Cennesliag established a trading outpost in the region, after coming into contact with the local Kaitainites they converted to the Bene Gesserit faith and took it home with them. By the 9th Century Kaitaine had become a pre-dominantly Celtic nation with a thriving cultural, trading life seperate to Ui Cennesliag. By the early 1800's the USR cast envious glances towards Kiataine for its ports and began spreading Communist ideas there. When great famines hit in the 1860's the USR sent food aid and instigated a revolution which overwhelmed the Kaitaine government and Bene Gesserit paramilitary. Since then it became part of the USR sphere of influence who have brutually stamped out the Bene Gesserit faith and targetted elements of Kaitaine society. When the USR collapsed a Communist dictator maintained power but has had to increase repressive measures.

Brief History

7th - 9th Century, as part of an attempt by various Celtic King's in the area of modern UC the people landed in the area and settled. These settlers were mainly those of the semi-secular "cult" known as the Bene Gesserit who had learned of the religion from early traders.

1800's - The nation underwent a series of famines and draught meaning the population reduced significantly. The Four Holy Houses tried hard to help those in need but in 1867 inspired by Communism a revolution saw a Communsit government installed and the Bene Gesserit banned.

1871- Battle of Chapterhouse - The Bene Gesserit home on the island of Chapterhouse was attacked and taken over, many leading Bene Gesserit where executed and others went into exile. Several of the group managed to form an underground movement and hide the Four Holy Houses.

1901 - The nation became a satellite of the USR with a puppet leader.

1937 - The Corrino Revolution. Lead by a Duke of the Corrino family a revolt took place in the city of Duneragh. The revolt saw an estimated 6,000,000 people take part, however with support from the USR loyalist forces successfully kept control.

1975 - The Truthsayer War - The Bene Gesserit paramilitary wing had spent ten years recruiting, secretly preaching and forming forces. They launched an assault on the capital which was initially successful and for the first time since 1867 a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother was announced on Chapterhouse, which had since become a government office. For almost a week the Truthsayers held the island before falling to USR forces, around 1,800 of the Order were executed in the coming weeks, once more however they successfully hid the Four Holy Houses.

2014 - The Collapse of the USR - Saw former USR puppet Stephen McPherson install himself as dictator and immediate begin making laws considered insane.

Born:- January 20, 1946 in Geidi

Family

Parents - Father was Simon McPherson, a supervisor in a tractor factory who was also a representative of the Tractor Manufacturers Union in the Workers Congress. Mother was Ruth McPherson, a kitchen assistant at the same factory as her husband

Siblings - Oliver McPherson (1949) was a dockyard workers in Arrakeen, conscripted into the USR military in 1974 and died in the Truthsayer War of 1979. Left a widow (now deceased) and two children who Stephen looked after.

Adeen McPherson (1950) a nurse who now advisers on health care matters. Has two sons both officers in the military.

Wife - Kimberly McPherson (1949) was a secretary at the Workers Congress when the two meet. Married in 1973.

Children - Rufus McPherson (1978) currently a police detective in Seitch. Has a young daughter

William McPherson (1980) a pilot in the Air Force.

Education

1957-1964 - Geidi Technical Academy, graduated with good grades and was a gifted engineer

1964-1968 - Stalingrad University, graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During this time he became a member of the Universities Student Soviet Congress.

Employment

1968-1975 - Was an officer in the Soviet Forces of Kiataine in the 3rd Combat Engineers. Saw action in the Truthsayer War where he personally executed 20 members of the Bene Gesserit.

1975-1980 - Entered government service as an advisor on Public Works.

1980-1985 - Assistant Minister of Public Works

1985-1987 - Minister of Public Works

1987-present - Following the assassination of his predecessor Hamish McEachren he was named President.

Other Details

Following the death of his brother and his friend Hamish McEachren he has a deep hatred of the Bene Gesserit, he has ordered several assassination attempts across Mundus once he has discovered members of the Holy Houses.

Is well known to have Torture Centres across the nation.

Controlls the media strictly.

All men aged between 18-30 are expected to undertake a period of at least 18 months national service, this is either done in the Soviet Forces of Kiataine (Army) of the nation or in the National Labour Front. The military training of conscripts actually focuses more on Communist indoctrination and physical fitness than skill at arms.

The SFK currently has around 89,000 men serving full time and a further 150,000 avaliable in reserve at any time.

The Navy recieves some conscripts but only in land based roles. The Navy was established largely as an puppet USR force and as such the Navy has more ships than it actually needs, this is because many of the ships in service were former USR ships. As a result many are canabalised for spare parts rather than being front line active ships.

The Navy currently has 54,000 full time sailors and a further 28,000 in reserve.

Like the Navy they have conscripts only in security roles. The Air Force is similar to the Navy that it managed to keep hold of much USR equipment upon their collapse however the cost of maintaining it all has seen them use much of it as spare parts. They currently have 46,900 airmen in full time service along with 22,000 in reserve.

Acting as a mixture of commando forces and naval infantry the KMC is composed of refugees from the USR who remained loyal to Communism as well as dedicated Kaitainites. The force has an intense selection process and is heavily indoctrinated, as such they carry out much of the opression ordered by President McPherson. They do not accept conscripts and can function as a self contained army, navy and air force for short periods.

They currently have 30,000 Marines in full time service as well as 12,000 in reserve.

A police force set up in 1937 to deal with internal threats to national security. They report directly to the President and even have their own courts system known as People's Courts. They are able to place into protective custody anyone whom they believe is a threat to the nation, this has meant in recent years they have focused heavily on eliminating the Four Holy Houses and the Bene Gesserit.

At present there are around 8,000 members of the KGB, however their members usually assume the role of regular plain clothed police unless neccessary. They maintain a level of training similar to a anti-terror force and are not averse to using torture in their private prisons.

RIGHTS/POLICIES AT A GLANCE

Drugs Law	Recreation Drugs are banned - Manditory 10 year jail for possession. Alchohol age of consent is 16. Tobacco age of consent is 16.
Same Sex Marriage	Permitted on same terms as hetrosexuals
Education	Compulsary until the age of 18. Funded fully by state Private schools banned University Selection Tests determine further education. Adtitude Tests done at 14 to determine educational pathways University education is free

Voting	All workers permitted to vote in their own Trades elections for Workers Congress.

Gun Laws	Ownership of any firearm banned Exception for those living on farms.
Internet Neutrality	All internet providers controlled by government. (Think N.Korea)
Business Ownership	All business owned by the State
Marriage	Must be over 21 Must have permission from your state representative.

The Workers Congress is a government advisery board.

It is made up of a representative of Workers Unions, these can be formed by any trade (E.g  Tractor Manufacturers Union, Railway Workers Union) or by individual factory (E.g The Geidi Bicyle Plant) as long as they have over 1,000 members and are approved by the President. Each representative carries a number of votes based on their Union's membership as shown below.

1,000-2,000 members = 1 vote
2,001-5,000 members = 2 votes
5,001-7,000 members = 3 votes
7,001-10,000 members = 4 votes
10,001-20,000 members = 5 votes
20,001 + members = 6 votes.

The Congress vote on the appointment and replacement of government officials as well as once a year having a conference to outline their aims for the year ahead. The President can however ignore the findings of the conference however this would risk removal.
